Belantica And Allies Conduct Drills, With The Focus On Invasions
Due to recent tensions throughout the world, top officials within the government and the military have organized war games to be conducted by several branches of the Belantic military. Not only would our own troops and equipment be present, but they would be alongside others from the allies of Belantica-including Rhodevus, Rezua, Aznazia, Allentyr, and Umbrellya in perhaps the largest drill in the nation's history. This was prompted after recent completions on other military drills around the general area, and due the government's concern for the safety and sovereignty of the nation, organized with her allies these drills to be completed over the next week. These drills are important, as they are meant to simulate an invasion of Belantica, and how Belantic and allied forces will respond to stop and push back an invading force quickly and effectively. Since the December Uprsing, both Parliament and the queen have stressed the importance of reassuring the public's confidence in our nation's defense capabilities, and show that Belantica has supportive allies that know the importance of cooperation to create a better future for all. The idea is the simulation would involved all forces participating, and then they would be divided up into groups serving as the "defenders" and the "invaders", balancing out by making sure each force has troops in both roles for the drills. The idea is that the drill would start at a certain distance from the coast, and the goal is to drive the invaders towards a specified beach using whatever assets available. Once this part is complete, the teams would be reshuffled, and start the process on how to prevent an invading force from landing in the first place.
On top of practicing defense protocols and doctrines to deter and prevent invasions, the drills also focused on the offensive side as well. "Not only do we need to make sure we can defend, but also go on the offense when needed," quoted Brigadier General Mary-Ann Souley, "think of it as a two-sided sword that has to be wielded with both confidence and care, a fine balance. It's also important to show those wishing to inflict harm or grief towards us and our allies that it will not happen on the shores or land that we work constantly to remain free from the grasps of our enemies, and to show that we're at a critical point in determining how our defense and offense doctrines are carried out." When asked about why there is also drills relating to offensive invasions, Souley responded, "One of our fellow Commonwealth partners and their neighbor state (being The Bohin and Molenston) are constantly having skirmishes over both land and the right to water, something that everyone in the world deserves. Neither side seems to be willing to meet with one another, and would rather commit acts of terrorism without any thought of improving the situation. It is also known that aside from preventing our enemies from coming in the first place, we need to have a plan ready for when we need to go to their doorstep as well." When asked about what the Rhodeve Commonwealth will do she respond, "I personally do not know, but all I can say is that this is a concern for the organization as a whole, however, my judgement on the situation is only based on observations, as I do not dwell within Commonwealth affairs, therefore I do not have an answer to that question."
Aside from that, the army is pleased to say that these drills will also push the new Type 17 MBTs to the test, as it is the latest and most advanced tank at the MoD's disposal, packing features such as infrared targeting, hydraulic suspension, reactive armoring, night vision cameras, and a whole array of sensors to help crews detect possible hostiles. "It's really a pinnacle of our military technology, quoted Lieutenant Chris Greeves, an officer specializins in electronics, " it [the Type 17] is a MBT that has been designed for Belantica from the ground up, and all the parts associated with it have been produced and assembled here as well. It's really the only tank that is tailored fit for Belantica in the days of modern combat, making earlier generations such as the Type 78 and Type 94 look like they were made in the stone age. We are incredibly proud of the time and effort we've put in developing the newest tank to keep the country safe."
