Ballot Boxes Filling Up: New Vesvai’s Citizens Vote In The First General Election Since The Silver Revolution

Image

Today is the day. The post-campaigning Day of Silence of October 10 is over. Polling stations have opened up and New Vesvai’s citizens are storming the ballot boxes to cast their votes in electing the next government. The elected government would be the first democratically elected government since the Silver Revolution. Hence why it’s called the revolutionary government (though some also apply that title to the current transitional opposition coalition government led by Acting Prime Minister Raio Foranel).

The National Renewal (NR) party is still in the lead in the opinion polls. The NR party was founded and is led by Adi Letago who was the leader of the protests that had escalated into the Silver Revolution and overthrew the previous AIT-led government. Letago was also the one who coined the term: “Silver Revolution.” Letago declared the Silver Revolution in New Vesvai after the collapse of talks between him, his followers and the government at the time. Adi Letago is currently the most popular person in New Vesvai as a politician and just an individual so experts are predicting big wins for him. Letago was not a politician but rather a member of the worlds of journalism and the arts. He became a politician after the Silver Revolution when he founded the NR party to run in this general election. The NR party is also called: “The Party of the Revolution.”

The opponents not far behind the NR party in the polls are the Break Out Alliance (BOA). It is a political alliance of two political parties in New Vesvai: the Nationalist Bloc (NB) and the Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC). Both parties are of nationalist views and have been in the opposition during the reign of the AIT coalition before the revolution. The Nationalist Bloc (NB), the Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC) and the United Conservatives (UC) were behind the idea of New Vesvai building a modernized border wall to secure itself from the Dominion of Vesvai. The project gained much public support over time and is expected to gain even more after the recent war. NB, PIC and UC parties have also been part of the current transitional government in New Vesvai which is formed out of opposition parties after the AIT governing coalition was deposed. The transitional government has been seen as doing a good job at leading New Vesvai through its transitional period after the revolution and also effectively handling the war with the Dominion of Vesvai and its allies. All these accomplishments have boosted the ratings of the NB, PIC and UC parties. But only NB and PIC have formed the Break Out Alliance without UC. The party of United Conservatives has been seen as a good political ally by NB and PIC. But both parties felt that the United Conservatives (as the name suggests) holds too “old-fashioned conservative” views for the tastes of NB and PIC. That is why UC was not invited to join the Break Out Alliance. The United Conservatives have been left to run on their own but opinion polls show that the party has been doing very well in the opinion polls. The UC party is in the third place behind NR and BOA at the moment.

The United Conservatives (UC) have outrun the Democratic Progressives (DP) who had fallen to the fourth place according to opinion polls. At first UC and DP parties were wrestling for third place by a small margin and kept pushing each other back and forth from third place to fourth and vice versa. Now UC is in the third place on stable ground. The left-leaning People’s Power Party (PPP) is in fifth place and has not really been moving higher than that in any polls. New Vesvai’s branch of the Vesvaian Homeland Union (VHU) (Vesvaian Homeland Union (VHU) is the ruling majority-holding party in the Dominion of Vesvai) remains at the bottom of the list in all major opinion polls holding sixth place. The AIT coalition is not participating in this general election because since being deposed in the Silver Revolution the coalition has dissolved itself into separate parties that it was made up of. Neither of those parties have decided to participate in the general election either and the vast majority of their members have fled New Vesvai for probable asylum abroad. It’s hard to say if the parties themselves even still exist and maybe operate from abroad. There have been no news on their further status. New Vesvai’s branch of AIT was the last branch of the coalition after AIT in the Dominion of Vesvai (which was in the opposition in that nation) dissolved itself earlier. The parties that made up the Dominion’s branch of AIT settled their differences with the Dominion’s government and now are seen as systemic opposition loyal to the government in the neighboring state.

A Look Back At The Pre-Revolution History Of New Vesvai And The History Of Democratic Processes, Elections And Referendums In New Vesvai

The last time there were elections on New Vesvai’s territory New Vesvai was still part of the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai, after forming on the southern corner of the island of Vesvai, declared itself a self-governing territory of the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai had not yet declared independence at that point and accepted Vesvai’s government proposal of “One State, Two Systems.” New Vesvai was completely self-governing and autonomous while still remaining in the same state as the Dominion of Vesvai. The island was still technically under one flag. New Vesvai also served an international and geographic function of being a buffer zone between ROVAA and the Rhodeve Commonwealth on one side (the Dominion of Vesvai is a member of both organizations) and MDAA on another. So the existence of New Vesvai only helped strengthen the atmosphere of regional, international and global security. But that was still not the end of the story and not the kind of settlement that satisfied Vesvai’s government.

There was pressure to forcefully reincorporate New Vesvai into the Dominion of Vesvai and get rid of the whole “One State, Two Systems” structure. The biggest advocate of stripping New Vesvai of its self-governance and practically destroying it was Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta who is still in office today. The rest of Vesvai’s government was also not to pleased with the existence of New Vesvai as “parallel Vesvai” to the Dominion of Vesvai. New Vesvai was seen as a twisted mirror image of the Dominion and a demonstration of what all of Vesvai could be. New Vesvai which was free and democratic was a polar opposite of the Dominion of Vesvai which was becoming increasingly authoritarian and today is a one-party dictatorship. New Vesvai was setting a bad example for the rest of the island and threatened the uncontested power of Vesvai’s government. New Vesvai itself did not deny that it was positioning itself as the “correct Vesvai” and a symbol of hope for all Vesvaians. Cold breeze and military pressure were constantly being projected towards New Vesvai from the center.

Feeling threatened New Vesvai held an independent general election outside of the law of the Dominion of Vesvai. The now-infamous and no-longer-existing Alliance for Independent Tomorrow (AIT) coalition won at that time. It was the primary opposition force in all of the Dominion of Vesvai. The new government with AIT the governing coalition holding a majority then declared an independence referendum. The referendum passed with 52% in favor of independence and 48% against independence. New Vesvai declared independence the next day. The new sovereign nation was prepared that the Dominion might somehow react including with military force but the Vesvaian Revolutionary Army stood ready to defend. Fortunately the worst possible scenario did not happen but it does not seem like the Dominion of Vesvai has accepted the new reality to this day.

The AIT governing coalition that led New Vesvai’s first independent government were seen as Independence Pioneers and the Founding Fathers. But the AIT coalition eventually betrayed New Vesvai’s government with its own inhumane, self-fishing and power-grabbing schemes. The citizens of New Vesvai rose up all across the nation and ousted the AIT-led government in what became known as the peaceful Silver Revolution. Today in a new landmark in New Vesvai’s short history the citizens will elected the first democratically elected government (a revolutionary government) in the first general election since the Silver Revolution. Democratic elections and a right to vote for your own government is a right that New Vesvai’s citizens nearly lost to AIT’s scheme but managed to save it through a national uprising.

His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich accepts and promotes new Baggnagian cease-fire signed this Tuesday

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich has declared that North Baggnagia would show mercy on its Southern and Sunrisian opponents. The Great Leader spoke to the Consultative Assembly of the Glorious Nation of North Baggnagia about a new cease-fire agreement that His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich signed with the Southerners and the Sunrisians. The Great Leader ordered the Consultative Assembly to recognize the new cease-fire agreement legally. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich declared that North Baggnagia would follow the agreement. The Consultative Assembly stood and applauded the Great Leader in a mass ovation. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich was celebrated not only as a Leader but an Unmatched Peacemaker. The Great Leader reminded that the South was still where fellow Baggnagians lived who are under the control of the South’s collaborationist authority and Sunrisian imperialist occupant forces. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich humbly reminded that the Great Leader’s mission was to care for all Baggnagians not just in North Baggnagia. The Great Leader reminded that his agreement to sign the new cease-fire was a show of mercy to the South’s authorities and Sunrisian imperialists because the unmatched North Baggnagian Holy Army could wipe them out and liberate the South. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich showed Himself as a true humanitarian champion who decided not to unleash the might of the North Baggnagian Holy Army on the traitors and imperialist occupants. The Great Leader gave them a second chance at submitting to peace and the fearful Southerners with Sunrisians accepted that. The Consultative Assembly of the Glorious Nation of North Baggnagia now argues that His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich needs to be awarded a peacemaker honor for the Great Leader’s accomplishments in peace and saving lives of all Baggnagians. The Great Leader said He wants to award a posthumous honor to Comrade Abdu Sugmei, President of the Bohin who was taken out of this world before his time.

Commissioner Anderson's Resignation Statement in Full

Speaking outside the Unitary Commissioner's residence, central Aygon. [TRANSLATED FROM AYGONIAN FRENCH]

"When I arrived here in April of last year, I came with the aim of reinvigorating Damsmar, of reigniting the Damsmarian tiger, of spreading wealth throughout the country and making sure our nation works not for the few, but for the many. I aimed to work constructively with devolutionists and unionists across the political field in order to build consensus and understanding for where we should head as a country. I have done everything I could to work to deliver the mandate of the people. With numerous attempts, me and my party attempted to bring forwards a consensus in the parliament for our policies. We wanted to use the traditional sense of Damsmarian politics to make sure our popular mandate was fulfilled. It remains excruciatingly difficult - but possible nonetheless. As a Liberal party it is core to our philosophy that we compromise to others, the opposition. However this isn't possible when the opposition refuse to compromise for you.

A year later we sit at a crossroads in Damsmarian political history. Security threats, political threats and economic threats plague our nation. Believe me when I tell you that an election will not fix this crisis. What will fix this crisis for political parties from across the spectrum to come together in the name of stability and cooperation.

This morning I have officially tendered my resignation as the second female Unitary Commissioner of the Unified Damsmarian States of The Seven United. Mandated by the Unitary Parliament I rescind my post as Commissioner and the Primary Representative of the Union, having immediate effect. Furthermore, I am also tendering my resignation as leader of the Alternate Liberal Party - as well as announcing that I will not stand for reelection in my constituency of Damsmar North. I do this with no ill will, I do this with the interests of the country at heart.

It will always remain a matter of regret for me that I have been unable to make as much progress as I would have hoped stepping into office. It was my ambition to unite our parliament with the moderate goals that we wanted to achieve, it was an ambition that I hope can continue under the next leader of the Alternate Liberal Party.

However, there are items that I am proud to have addressed in our first year. We have created the Modern Damsmarian Investment Strategy, a pioneering agenda to spread wealth throughout the nation and not just in the areas of Aygon or Podzia, tens of millions of Argents have already been allocated to targeted regions from Selt to Caledon. Furthermore, our government has worked strong and hard to tackle the issues of over burdening regulation, which the relaxation of has allowed for international business to settle in the nation. Under the work of our party we secured a free trade agreement with the Ventismarian Union, the largest single market in Sunalaya - ease of business is fundamental to the workings of our economy.

On environmental and social issues, I am proud to have been the author of the revolutionary Rainforest Buffer Zone bill which serves to protect our rainforests future after years of dilapidation. And yes! It was our government that pushed forward the Damsmarian Standard for meteorology and climatology, helping us to see the effects of climate change throughout Sunalaya - while allowing us to see the weather more accurately in the short term.

Our government is ending the regional lottery for government services, with the implementation of the Four Post Plan so that all Damsmarian citizens no matter where they are from, have access to the services of both the regional and unitary government. It is also vital that all citizens have access to good healthcare as a part of the Damsmarian system, this inclusion into the Four Post Plan was a purely Alternate Liberal scheme.

I could continue with what we have done, and I could not stop with what we could do.

The Damsmarian system of politics is under strain. We must find a way to bring back cooperation and compromise to the parliament, and we must continue our work to increase the accountability of the government to it. I am proud of what I have achieved as Unitary Commissioner, and I am fiercely optimistic about the future of our nation. I leave with my head held high, and I hope that my successor will continue that pattern.

Thank you all."

With this, Christina Anderson steps back for her last photographs at the Commissioner's residence. Shortly thereafter she departs by motorcade for the last time.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

National Renewal (NR) Party Comes Out On Top In The Historic First General Election Since The Silver Revolution, Nearly Winning Majority

Image

The ballot boxes and polling stations had closed. The votes in the historic first general election since the Silver Revolution have been counted. The National Renewal (NR) party (also nicknamed “The Party of the Revolution”) has come out on top. It was not a surprise because NR was an uncontested leader in the polls as the party founded and led by Adi Letago, the leader of anti-government protests that escalated into the Silver Revolution. Letago also coined the term and today remains the most popular person in New Vesvai. He is legitimately referred to as a revolutionary. But NR’s final result is still not without its surprises. The NR party was confidently expected to win a clear majority in the general election and become the governing party in post-revolution New Vesvai. But that surprisingly did not happen. NR garnered 49% of the vote. “The Party of the Revolution” was a margin away from winning a clear majority and becoming a governing party in revolutionary New Vesvai.

Coming in the second place behind NR is the Break Out Alliance (BOA). It is a political alliance of the Nationalist Bloc (NB) and the Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC). Their alliance won 31% of the vote. Behind them is the United Conservatives (UC) party with 11%. United Conservatives (UC) and Democratic Progressives (DP) were wrestling for third place in opinion polls during the campaign and constantly surpassed each other back and forth. In the final polls just ahead of the election day the United Conservatives (UC) stayed in the third place. The Democratic Progressives (DP) were pushed into the fourth place with 5% which is a real downturn for the party comparing to the last general election before in pre-revolution New Vesvai. Other parties outside of these most famous ones jointly gathered 3% which is also a downturn for them because together they gathered 10% in the last general election in pre-revolution New Vesvai. The People’s Power Party (PPP) also finished with worse score than last time: 1%. The only party that had the same score in this post-revolution general election as in the last pre-revolution general election was the Vesvaian Homeland Union (VHU). The party garnered 0% last time and got 0% this time. The defunct AIT coalition that was deposed in the Silver Revolution obviously did not participate in the election and neither did the individual parties that used to make up AIT.

To sum up. NR came out first, BOA of NB and PIC came out second, UC came out third, DP came out fourth, other parties jointly came out fifth, PPP came out sixth and VHU came out seventh with null votes. The outcome matches the last opinion poll that was released prior to the election day. The success of NR party is linked to its founder and leader Adi Letago who is seen as a national hero, the success of BOA (specifically NB and PIC) is linked to several things: their initiative (together with UC) to build a border wall with the Dominion of Vesvai, for being in the opposition within the AIT-led government, defecting from the AIT-led government, supporting the Silver Revolution that ousted the AIT governing coalition, helping form a constitutionally created transitional government (run by opposition parties) which is respected for taking New Vesvai through the transitional period and effectively handling the war with the Dominion of Vesvai. NB and PIC (or their BOA political alliance now) are also praised for supporting Vesvaian civic nationalism by arguing that the Dominion of Vesvai abandoned Vesvaian culture and traditions while New Vesvai should be a place preserving them. United Conservatives have been praised for pretty much the same stances and accomplishments as the Nationalist Bloc and the Pro-Independence Coalition (Break Out Alliance now) but UC never joined the alliance because their views were seen as too “old-fashioned conservative” for the tastes of NB and PIC. But both parties still see UC as an ally and the party did well in the general election on its own. As for other parties their lack of success in this election is widely being explained by as the public’s perception towards them as “leftovers” of the old system. The remaining contenders like Democratic Progressives, the People’s Power Party, the Vesvaian Homeland Union and others will have to go into the opposition. Members of NB and PIC argued that VHU should have even been allowed to run in the election or have any place in New Vesvai’s politics. Both parties view VHU as a force working for the Dominion of Vesvai (in that nation the local branch of VHU is actually the ruling party). NB and PIC could understand VHU’s participation in the first general election after independence but both had faith that New Vesvai had learned something since breaking the old system the Silver Revolution.

New Vesvai’s Head Administrator Andre Tilicome, Acting Prime Minister Raio Foranel, Former Prime Ministers Kai Placore and Matteas Noran congratulated the winners and New Vesvai’s citizens with the outcome of a successful historic election. Congratulations also came from Former Intelligence Directorate agent Kaleo Aitebi (who sent them from Sunrisia where he is still a refugee with granted political asylum in that nation).

Because the NR party did not win a majority (though it was on the verge of it with by just one margin) “The Party of the Revolution” will have to create a coalition with the Break Out Alliance (NB and PIC parties) and start forming a new government together. Until they are able to do that the present transitional government made up of opposition parties will have to keep running New Vesvai. The coalition government formed by the NR party and BOA political alliance (which would make it a coalition of three parties total) would finally be that true “revolutionary government.”

Commiss Army detain 3 Englean men in El Telayar suspected of helping to run a training camp for Montedoran Terrorists

Image

Commiss Army soldiers outside the suspected guerrilla training camp within the Telayaran Rainforest

Three Englean nationals have been arrested by the Commiss Army in the El Telayar region of north east Montedoran, all detained on suspicion of the aiding and abetting of terrorist activities by helping to run a training camp for the Montedoran terrorist group the MIS. The statement released by the army stated that the three detained men all held Englean passports and were indeed of Englean origin and nationality, they are currently "under the detention of the Commiss Army for the aiding and abetting of terrorist activity and will be transferred to the local Montedoran Judicial system for processing within a weeks time." More information on the detainees is expected in the coming days time as the case is transferred to the Montedoran Police Service whom immediately filed a request for their transfer, coming after MPS Chief Alvaro Pavarotti criticised the tactics of the recent actions of the army for being "brutish and unhelpful."

Currently unnamed and unidentified, this arrest sparks further interest within Damsmarian security circles. Not only have Englean weapons been discovered in the hands of Montedoran terrorists, but Englean nationals have been found within these training camps in the rugged rainforests in the area. Such a string of events heightens the suspicion of covert Englean involvement within Montedoran paramilitary circles. Commiss Army Chief of Staff Nicolas Fernandez has not commented on the situation or the operation currently ongoing in the Alambra Region, but so far 2,000 soldiers are in the area - 195 individuals have been arrested on terror offences including the 3 Englean nationals, 7 suspected terrorists have been killed and 9 Commiss soldiers have been injured resulting with 340 rifles, around 17,000 rounds of ammunition, 17 grenades and two RPG's being seized by the army and police.

Tensions remain to simmer in the region, with the army presence having changed from that of intense foot and vehicle patrol to increasingly airborne and mobile patrols, as yesterday four soldiers were injured (one critically) in an ambush on a patrol leaving Greater Alambra and on Thursday an off duty police officer was critically injured in a paramilitary-style attack in southern Alambra, the officer remains in critical condition. It is still unclear when the army will leave but so far the unnamed security operation continues.

Sunrisian And Englean Special Envoys Meet In West Zilveren Berg For The First Time

Image

Emissary for Adversary Exchanges Avér Inîmīcâ of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and Special Envoy to Sunrisia Edmund Weingaertner of the Englean Kaiserreich, have finally met face-to-face for the first time in West Zilveren Berg, a neutral third party host country. The meeting, initiated by the Englean side, was originally supposed to happen by the end of September. However, Emissary Avér Inîmīcâ got preoccupied with the unexpected break-out of the Vesvai War and was forced to focus his attention on negotiating on behalf of Sunrisia with the Rhodeve side to reach a cease-fire between New Vesvai and the Dominion of Vesvai. The negotiations proved successful and the cease-fire seems to be holding, even with no signed agreement in place. Probably the effectiveness of the cease-fire can be attributed to remaining presence of Sunrisian forces on the side of New Vesvai and the forces of the allies of the Dominion of Vesvai on its’ side, thus creating bilateral deterrence. Additionally, both Vesvaian sovereign states are being influenced by their allies and main supporters to follow the cease-fire. After the inter-Vesvai cease-fire, Emissary Inîmīcâ had to travel to another part of the world, to Eastern Ventismar or Nordismar as it is also called. The Emissary came to South Baggnagia to sign a new 3-party cease-fire agreement by North Baggnagia, South Baggnagia and Sunrisia. Recently, there were large armed skirmishes between North Baggnagia and South Baggnagia, which nearly escalated into a full-scale war, but a verbal cease-fire was achieved. The first cease-fire, which was enforced by a signed document, collapsed and also made the signed agreement go defunct. It was clear that the verbal cease-fire would not hold as effectively between the Baggnagias as it is currently holding between the Vesvais, therefore, time was short. A new cease-fire agreement had to be reached as soon as possible and once the date of the signing ceremony was finally agreed upon, Emissary Inîmīcâ rushed to South Baggnagia to represent Sunrisia. The new Baggnagian cease-fire agreement will be ratified by the Convet in today’s evening session, as Sunrisia committed to ratify the agreement by the end of the week.

Since coming back from South Baggnagia, Emissary Avér Inîmīcâ had time to get over his jet-lag with good rest and some meditation. Feeling refreshed, the Emissary could finally attend the overdue Sunrisian–Englean meeting in West Zilveren Berg as our country’s primary representative in this historic, and technically unprecedented, meeting.

Before this meeting, there were only 2 other Sunrisian and Englean diplomatic exchanges. The first one was when Anît Iûnctén, who today serves as Emissary for Alternative Contacts of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia, went directly to the Englean Kaiserreich shortly after the State of West Zilveren Berg proclaimed statehood on the Englean border. The territory of today’s West Zilveren Berg was Sunrisia’s Area of Responsibility in a still-united Zilveren Berg during the military operation by the Amestrris–Librira– Sunrisia 3-nation coalition against the dictatorship in control of the still-united Zilveren Berg. Sunrisia’s Area of Responsibility in northwestern Zilveren Berg proclaimed statehood as the new sovereign state of West Zilveren Berg, remaining under Sunrisian protection and having vast Sunrisian military presence. That military presence is still in West Zilveren Berg today, but not in the same quantities and mostly without combat forces. Tensions were high enough in Corentia at that time, additionally thanks to the efforts of some outsider non-Corentian countries interested in dumping gasoline into the fire and then playing firefighters. To keep West Zilveren Berg from “raising the temperature” even more and stop the Kaiserreich from interpreting the new sovereign state of West Zilveren Berg as a Sunrisian proxy on Englean border, Anît Iûnctén went to the Englean Kaiserreich to speak with the leadership there directly. Iûnctén went there as the Director of the now-abolished Agency for Special Contacts Policy (ASCP). Iûnctén’s efforts and clarification seemed to relief or at least pause and escalation of tensions to a new level for the time being. Neither he nor any other Sunrisian official ever went back to the Englean Kaiserreich or communicated with the Englean leadership since.

Admittedly, the Englean side has expressed a wish to speak with the Sunrisian side multiple times, showing initiative to organize talks or reaching out in other ways. The Sunrisian side responded with stonewalling or ignoring all-together. Today’s meeting is a product of Englean initiative, however, before this, the second Sunrisian–Englean exchange was initiated by Sunrisia. During the Englean-led mainly ACIS military operation against the Democratic Central Ziamban Republic (DCZR), President Válîd Sâlúbĕr called the Englean Kaiser to discuss humanitarian cooperation in DCZR and how Sunrisia and the Englean-led forces could ensure a flow of humanitarian help into DCZR, as well as organize safe passages for refugees out of the Ziambani country. That was another unprecedented event, because it was the first time Sunrisian and Englean heads of state spoke and that was followed by unprecedented humanitarian military cooperation. The conversation between President Sâlúbĕr and the Englean Kaiser was the second ever Sunrisian–Englean exchange and the first since the visit by Anît Iûnctén to the Englean Kaiserreich.

Today’s meeting is the third ever Sunrisian–Englean exchange and the first since Anît Iûnctén’s aforementioned visit, where Sunrisian and Englean officials will be at each other’s presence. Their meeting will be taking place in northeastern West Zilveren Berg, close to the Englean border. The meeting will be happening at what used to be a municipality building, therefore, it will have conditions for conference-like functions.

Before leaving for West Zilveren Berg, Emissary for Adversary Exchanges Avér Inîmīcâ spoke to the media, where he summarized the entire situation:

The Englean side originally wanted this meeting in order to discuss the settlement of the Weniges Reich issue in Daredland. That is going to be among main topics. We are ready to hear out Englean proposals and then transfer them to our Daredi partners. We might add something of our own as well, but that part is something that my colleague in the Department of International Relations – Designated Diplomatic Agent for Daredland Negotiations Párêc Adstâtér can tell you about in more detail. The Sunrisian proposals on the issue mainly come from him. We will be interested to hear the Englean rebuttal against claims coming from Daredland and from the MDAA alliance that Englean troops are occupying territory under the control of the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich, and that Englean forces had intervened in that original conflict that helped form the Weniges Reich, while Daredland lost territory.

As for the topics outside Daredland, the Sunrisian side will be asking about the political transition in DCZR, repatriation of displaced people and refugees there, including humanitarian efforts. We will remind the Englean side of the ongoing MDAA “Flail 10-11” military exercise taking place with the participation of Daredland and with Daredland opening its’ territory for the exercise to take place there as well. It has been nearly a week since the drill began and it is planned to conclude sometime in November. We will mention that just to avoid any misunderstanding or conspiracies about us planning something. As you noticed, I still mentioned Daredland despite me describing topics outside Daredland, but since we are here. I will also remind the Englean side that Sunrisia has not been moving military infrastructure eastwards. We do not have soldiers or bases in Daredland. We have soldiers in eastern Damsmar, but we do not have bases there. Damsmar is an MDAA member and we deployed forces there by the country’s request, so our presence there is more excusable. Other than that, Sunrisia does not have military installations beyond Creperia and Edereon. Smoya hosts the HQ of the Sunrisian Ventismarian Command (SUNCORCOM) for Sunrisian operations in Corentia, but that installation does not threaten the Kaiserreich, because it is not a combat base. We will ask the Englean side if the Kaiserreich has warships stationed in or patrolling around Ispanza. We remember that Englean warships were deployed to the island country after Sunrisia announced it would build an artificial island chain in its’ own territorial waters that would serve as a buffer between mainland Sunrisia and the Rhodeve-aligned Ispanza. We remember Englean warships have been sent to help “protect” the island from us. We want to know straight from the Engleans themselves if their warships are still there. We are also going to bring up the topic of Englean citizens that were detained in Damsmar and we want to hear the Englean position on this. Was this a smear campaign and there were no Engleans? Were these Englean citizens there as volunteers? In which case the Englean leadership should take precautions against their citizens being engaged in mercenary activities. Or was something else going on? Until it becomes clear what happened, I think that Sunrisia should refrain from taking a position, but we want to discourage the Englean side from considering an aggressive stance against Damsmar, because that country is an MDAA member and we will militarily act in their defense from an outside attack with everything in our disposal. Maybe a day will come when the Englean and Damsmarian sides can actually argue and help clarify what this situation with Engleans in Damsmar actually is, because right now, I feel that both countries will present incompatible versions of events. For now, we obviously have more reason to trust our Damsmarian allies in MDAA, but we will not jump to conclusions yet. Our final question to the Englean side will concern the situation with human rights in the Englean Kaiserreich. So far, that seems to be all on our behalf, but we might formulate something more on the way or even during the meeting. We do not know what the Englean side may have prepared for us outside of the Daredi issue.

I will say this for conclusion. It was “constructive” that the Englean Kaiserreich remained neutral or at least silent on the recent Vesvai War. Rather than going by the philosophy of “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” and siding directly or indirectly, militarily or diplomatically with the Dominion of Vesvai, Rhodevus and the Layfetian Republic, the Kaiserreich remained silent. This was a smart choice. The alternative would have sabotaged any possible diplomatic exchange and I would not be going to West Zilveren Berg right now in that case. Fortunately, it did not come to that.

That would be all. Thank you very much, everybody. I have to get going.

The Department of International Relations later clarified that the current talks would not include any possibility of establishing diplomatic relations between Sunrisia and the Kaiserreich, as well as not include any talk of lifting Sunrisia’s embargo against the Kaiserreich. Spokesperson for the Department of International Relations Elén Spêctrá-Fâmína said that those might be the topics for another time.

  • Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér: “Incoming occasional stories from The Seven United (Damsmar) and Daredland about the secret activities of Englean citizens (potential state operatives) on the territory of those countries, help reinforce the suspicion that the Englean Kaiserreich is using hybrid warfare against its’ neighbors through covert techniques.

  • Commissioner Christina Anderson of The Seven United (Damsmar) resigns.

  • New Vesvai holds first general election since the Silver Revolution. Protest leader’s and Silver Revolution’s leader’s Adi Letago’s National Renewal (NR) party and the Break Out Alliance split victory. It appears that a governing coalition will need to be formed.

  • North Baggnagian leader Jan Tillich personally embraces the new Baggnagian cease-fire agreement in a public speech. Diplomats say it is a good sign that North Baggnagia is personally interested in the cease-fire’s stability. Military experts are skeptical and think that the North Baggnagian regime wants South Baggnagia and Sunrisia to “lay down their guard.”

  • Minister of International Relations Edén Sȏlítûdá: “We are not going to ease sanctions on North Baggnagia from state ones back to individual ones just yet. We are not going to make that mistake again. The new cease-fire agreement was just signed. We are going to need to see a prolonged period of “adequate” behavior and a move away from aggressiveness and belligerency by North Baggnagia before there can be any talk of easing sanctions.

West Zilveren Berg Hosts Sunrisian–Englean Meeting

West Zilveren Berg has finally accepted both awaited guests from the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and the Englean Kaiserreich in their overdue meeting on West Zilveren territory. The meeting was expected to happen by the end of September but preoccupations, mainly Sunrisian ones, postponed the meeting by nearly a month. But that day has finally come. As promised before, the representatives of both sides have been provided with a special facility shielded from any radiation leftovers in the atmosphere, close to the border with the Englean Kaiserreich, but still deep enough in West Zilveren territory. It is an abandoned municipality building that has been repurposed into an anti-radiation “safe-house” and an operation center. It still contains rooms for conferences, so that is where the Sunrisians and the Engleans were able to meet.

Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek has welcomed and personally met with Emissary for Adversary Exchanges Avér Inîmīcâ of the Nationalist Republic of Sunrisia and Special Envoy to Sunrisia Edmund Weingaertner of the Englean Kaiserreich. The Chief Secretary welcomed both envoys to West Zilveren Berg and wished them constructive talks. He reminded the representatives of both countries that West Zilveren Berg is pursuing a “non-bloc” foreign policy with friendly approach towards MDAA and SOWEFTA, and to ACIS, but not joining. The Chief Secretary presented West Zilveren Berg as a perfect and always open, third party mediating ground for a West–East dialogue in this divided continent.

When all was set and done, and the guests were directed to the conversation of their meeting, Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek left the Sunrisian and Englean envoys for their private conversation, with Chief Secretary asking the press to leave the facility with him, while safe radiation-shielded corridors were provided out of the building into means of transportation.

Secretary General Joan Armbrüster congratulates New Vesvai on general election, Armbrüster reflects on the victory of democracy in Daredland, West Zilveren Berg and New Vesvai

Image

Joan Armbrüster, Secretary General of the West Zilveren Berg–Daredland–New Vesvai Council (Council of 3), has congratulated New Vesvai on a historic general election which proved itself free, fair and democratic. Armbrüster’s congratulations went to New Vesvai’s citizens and to the winners of the general election. The first place was achieved by National Renewal (NR) a party founded by the leader of New Vesvai’s protests and of follow-up Silver Revolution. The second place was won the Break Out Alliance which is a political alliance of the National Bloc (NB) and Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC) parties. Both these parties have been the opposition within the previous regime and are now part of New Vesvai’s transitional government. The NR party was one percentage away from a majority but it won 49% in the end. Local experts in New Vesvai and some international experts believe that a coalition will need to be formed to run the next government.

Secretary General Joan Armbrüster says he sees a lot of his own nation Daredland in today’s New Vesvai. Both nations went through national uprisings that escalated into revolutions (Flaming Revolution in Daredland and Silver Revolution in New Vesvai) and both have chosen a democratic path with these revolutions. Daredland went through this path earlier than New Vesvai so Daredis are familiar with privileges and challenges of a democratic revolution. As a Daredi patriot Armbrüster says he’s feeling solidarity with New Vesvai and is rooting for the nation’s success. As a Secretary General of the Council of 3 Armbrüster wishes to see a stable and free New Vesvai as one of the founding members of the Council with Daredland and West Zilveren Berg.

Joan Armbrüster went on to describe Daredland, West Zilveren Berg and New Vesvai as three success stories where democracy won. Three nations that had to fight for their freedom with exhaustion, blood and sweat. In Daredland and New Vesvai people rose up and national revolutions won democracy for them. In West Zilveren Berg the liberty was brought by a foreign power Sunrisia but many of West Zilveren successes were not without the direct action and sacrifices of West Zilveren citizens. West Zilveren Berg survived oppression by a brutal dictatorship, lived through the overthrow of that dictatorship, became part of a nation that got broken to pieces and keeps rebuilding to this day. And yet West Zilveren Berg successfully held its first democratic elections since becoming an independent state and today is evolving as a democracy. Secretary General Joan Armbrüster said that West Zilveren citizens are among people with strongest endurance today in the world. But Armbrüster reminded that neither West Zilveren Berg, New Vesvai nor Daredland are alone. Apart from shared allies the three nations have together formed the Council of 3 as a political organization that unites them under the ideal of pursuing freedom. The nations stand together.

Today West Zilveren Berg has transitioned into the international stage by playing the role of diplomatic arena for Sunrisian–Englean talks. Secretary General Armbrüster and the Daredi government are watching closely whatever it can find out because the talks include Daredland as one of the main topics. But that is a story for another time.

”We want elections back!” – chant South Baggnagian protesters

Image

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – “We want elections back!” and “Democracy has no price!”. Those two chants are being heard around South Baggnagia today. Pro-democracy demonstrators have taken to the streets in protest against the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia. The protester demands are to bring back elections and an old system to South Baggnagia with a presidency and a parliament. They are calling for the Congress of National Sovereignty to step down while the Chamber of Deputies, the Presidential Administration and old-style Cabinet of Ministers be restored. Simultaneously to the restoration of these disbanded state institutions new elections should be held in South Baggnagia to bring to power a new democratic government. The protests are overtaking the capital Jugac and are spreading to other cities. The exclave of Neodvisni is the only one where the protest wave has not yet sparked as much. Though nearly a 100 people have been said to gather in the city’s main square with protest banners.

The protests were organized by Sylva Čérny who is the daughter of Karel Čérny, a Candidate for President during South Baggnagia’s first presidential election and former leader of the Socialist Bloc (SB). Sylva Čérny took over leadership of her father’s party. Karel Čérny himself is still a member of the Socialist Bloc (SB) and a consultant to his daughter as the party’s current leader. Sylva Čérny was seen in Jugac leading a protest march in the front of the crowd shouting through a megaphone. Her husband was spotted next to her and so was her father Karel Čérny. Protest organizer Sylva Čérny accused the Congress of National Sovereignty of being an unconstitutional body that came to power through a coup. She called the Congress out for destroying the legitimate state institutions of the parliament and presidency and also cancelling elections in South Baggnagia. Čérny did not hold back from harsh epithets against Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Baggnagia Mina Symank, Minister of Defense of South Baggnagia Stanislaw Šturm and the entire Congress and government as a whole. She also attacked South Baggnagian police and military for serving the current leadership. Čérny’s final insults were hurled at the supporters of the Congress of National Sovereignty that helped it come to power in a wave of “anti-globalist” marches and she attacked Ex-President Dobrin Nóvak for being a fool that let this happen.

While SB party leader Sylva Čérny is rallying South Baggnagians against the Congress of National Sovereignty, the supporters of the Congress of National Sovereignty are mobilizing their counter-protest pro-government demonstrations. It is predicted to be no smaller in size to Čérny’s pro-democracy demonstration. Ministry of the Interior of South Baggnagia fears that if the current situation keeps growing the Congress of National Sovereignty may be forced to declare a state of emergency. The riot police and the National Guard are already getting ready to take position.

Daredi government hopes for protection of Daredi interests by the Sunrisians at their meeting with the Engleans in West Zilveren Berg

Image

A public debate has developed in the Daredi Confederation about the first meeting between the Sunrisian and the Englean officials in West Zilveren Berg. New outlets from both nations have mentioned that Daredland would be among the topics of discussion. Daredland may have even been the primary topic that brought the two rivals together. It is understood here in Daredland that the discussion revolves only around the self-declared Weniges Reich and the occupied territories of Eastern Daredland. But there is also paranoid suspicion and concern that Daredland not be made a subject of negotiation and trade between the two.

Daredland successfully broke out of the Englean sphere of influence in the Flaming Revolution and has continued a pro-Western Corentian course since. Daredis aspire to create a true democracy in the nation while cutting off from a monarchic Germanic empire that once ruled Neu-Steinland (Daredland’s ancestor state). Daredland has successfully become an associate member of MDAA and SOWEFTA, the further course towards full membership in both organizations still continues and the Konföderaleswehr is presently partaking in a large MDAA drill for the first time. Some of that drill is also happening on Daredi territory as a message to the Engleans. But the talks between the Sunrisians and the Engleans have still been causing some unease in Daredland even if Western Corentian support is still technically there.

Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Zina Fenstermacher said that Daredi citizens have nothing to worry about because before the meeting the Sunrisian government promised that Daredi interests would not be sold out. Support for the territorial integrity of Daredland remains. President of the Daredi Confederation Hans Receni said that Daredland has been closely watching the meeting and awaiting any updates it could. Receni claims that the Daredi government is concerned for the security interests of Daredland and of Damsmar which has the misfortune to border the Weniges Reich. But Receni believes that Damsmar has less of a reason to worry about because Damsmar is in MDAA and Daredland is not yet. But the President also has faith that Sunrisia has no reason to disregard its own principles on the question of the Weniges Reich and Daredland overall.

The political force in the current LPM-led government that has the most faith in the Sunrisians is the Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party and their partners in the Pro-Liberty Front for a Western Corentian Daredland (PLFWCD) coalition that led the previous government. They have absolute confidence in the Sunrisians at these talks. Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan (member of the WCND party and ex-President of Daredland in the previous PLFWCD-government) says that the Sunrisians are the best ally of Daredland and will not allow for the Confederation’s collapse or its push back into the Englean imperial monarchist cage. Potesinan says they will continue helping Daredland down its path towards becoming a free and democratic nation as a twisted opposite mirror image to the fellow Germanic neighbor to the east.

The National People's Congress and Prime Minister Yi Qianfeng are thrilled to announce the creation of a new cabinet position, Secretary of Youth Engagement. The first person to hold this position is the Yanbadi actress Ai Naal. Ai plays the part of Tasa Dane in the extremely popular show A Frolic of Rivers, the television adaption of the Ballad of Rivers novels.

Image

The National People's Congress created the position in order to combat what one undisclosed source described as "the negative trend of youth apathy towards the Communist Party of Yanbad and politics in general." Another anonymous source stated that "the youth [of Yanbad] see the events prior to the revolution and immediately after it as ancient history, they have only known comfort not the struggle that provided it for them."

The Secretary of Youth Engagement will work to interact with Yanbadi youth throughout the People's Republic to increase civic engagement and political activity. Ai has expressed an interest in sending Yanbadi throughout the country to engage in civilian conservation programs, as well as creating after school clubs and programming for students to enjoy. Another idea is to organize trips abroad to see how other countries handle the interaction between the proletariat and bourgeoisie, and if it is possible to use any ideas in the People's Republic.

Ai Naal has released the following statement about her new role in the government:
" I am extremely grateful and lucky to be in this position to develop the next generation of Yanbadi leaders. I want to thank Prime Minister Yi and the National People's Congress for trusting me with this solemn duty. I am inspired by the words of our founder: Dare to think, dare to act, dare to think. All I hope is that I am able to serve the People's Republic well."

Make sure to read the next issue of the Yanbad Daily to learn more about our wonderful country!

Editor's note: The Yanbad Daily is still searching for oral history participants who are willing to share their stories about the Communist Revolution

South Baggnagian National Plebiscite declared, a vote on whether to keep the Congress of National Sovereignty in power or hold new elections

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia has heard the voices of protesters on the streets of South Baggnagian cities. The Congress has passed a law declaring the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite. The South Baggnagian citizens will be given a choice and a vote on whether to keep the status quo or transition to traditional democracy. Specifically the plebiscite will ask if the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia should stay in power or if the Chamber of Deputies, the traditional Cabinet of Ministers and the Presidency be brought back. That would also require new elections.

After the Congress vote to declare the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt read a statement:

We have been accused of taking away elections. I and our Congress won’t argue with that. But in contrary to this image of power-grabbers that’s been painted of us we’re going to leave this historic responsibility up to our citizens. On the day of the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite our citizens will decide if we should continue the current, granted, non-traditional course albeit not a dictatorship. Our fellow Baggnagians to the north of us and many other nations in the world live under actual dictatorship. But I digress. Our citizens will decide if we should continue the current course and whether they want to see the Congress of National Sovereignty continue to govern South Baggnagia. Or will they prefer the return of the parliament, the presidential office and elections?

Colleagues, I think that it was a good decision that we all managed to agree and pass a law that called for this National Plebiscite. What we are seeing on the streets of our nation right now is a division right down the middle between those supporting the current order of things and those wanting a traditional democracy. As much as Ms. Čérny tries to paint the present situation as an all-national unanimous uprising for democracy against the Congress of National Sovereignty, we know that is not true. Before the situation escalates into clashes between different camps let us call for everyone’s restraint. We invite all citizens of South Baggnagia on both sides or all sides to leave the streets, return to their lives and come vote in the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite. The plebiscite is now in our law so it will happen 100%. You all, the citizens, will decide the fate of this Congress and the future course of this nation. We are willing to cooperate and we call on all sides to cooperate. Let us avoid a civil war and settle this question once and for all peacefully. Our interest here is not to get power or hold on to power but to better South Baggnagia.

The announcement of the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite was met with celebration by the pro-democracy protesters. Socialist Bloc (SB) leader Sylva Čérny who organized these protests by calling people out into the streets was greeted as a hero. The supporters of Congress of National Sovereignty took the announcement of the South Baggnagian National Plebiscite with disappointment and frustration. They consider the Congress to be the best government South Baggnagia ever had since splitting with North Baggnagia. Many go as far as to say that the Congress of National Sovereignty was at the top of leaderships throughout the entire history of Baggnagia from ancient one to modern day. The Congress has been praised for being patriotic, strong and genuine, rather than two-faced like its predecessor governments.

The declaration of the National Plebiscite appears like it should be the end of this crisis-like situation that developed. But the atmosphere of tension between Congress supporters and democracy supporters can still be felt. The riot police and the National Guard remain deployed around South Baggnagia. Chairman Gustav Feldt said he hopes that South Baggnagians on all sides will hear his calls for de-escalation and an end to this crisis. But he added that the Congress will be ready to declare a State of Emergency at worst and impose Martial Law at very worst. The Chairman claims he genuinely hopes it will not come to this and that South Baggnagians will wait until the day of the National Plebiscite.

EUSR Surrenders

After a week of intense fighting, the Army of the Republic of Eikangaard has successfully forced the capitulation of over half of the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic's standing army. Three days after the initial landings on the northern shore of Rurskaad Bay, the Republic managed to completely cut off the EUSR's Army in the area. Attempts by the EUSR to reinforce and resupply this army via air and sea was stopped by the combined efforts of the Republican Navy and Air Force, contributing to the loss of two more EUSR Frigates and a number of combat aircraft. Attempts at a breakout by the EUSR Army were similarly halted, boxing the Communists in until enemy units began to surrender form a lack of food and supplies.

Following this victory, the Republic of Eikangaard made plans to continue to advance northward, capitalizing on the disastrous loss suffered by the EUSR to take the war right to the Communist Government's doorstep. However, before this follow-up operation could begin, the EUSR transmitted a formal declaration of surrender to the Republic of Eikangaard, calling for an official end to the war. The offer was quickly accepted, and the army began its advance northward to round up surrendering Communist forces and occupy the Communist Capitol of Walster.

Upon the announcement of the EUSR's surrender, celebrations began in the streets across the Republic over the end of the war and the defeat of Communism on Eikangaard's home soil. Some took the opportunity to call on the Republic and President Albinson to push for the total reunification of the country. The President, who stood before the Senate to announce the acceptance of the EUSR's surrender, made allusions that he would push for the total reunification of Eikangaard under Republican leadership.

"The last great failure of the old Monarchy shall be rectified." Said the President. "The Eikan people should never have been split, carved apart by the oppression of Communism, the oppression of Monarchy. Today I stand before you to say that this final great injustice against the spirit of our great nation has been rectified. Soon, very soon, our people will be able to stand untied once more. No longer will we suffer under tyranny, repression, and lies. Today we will all become untied under freedom. The freedom to choose our own paths, our own creeds, our own way of life. Today, democracy stands triumphant in Eikangaard. And it is my duty to see it done."

However, some have raised concerns that not all of the EUSR will cave so peacefully. There are already reports that some remaining units of the EUSR's People's National Defense Army have begun retreating into isolation up in the mountains of Northern Eikangaard, and there seems to be no intention from these units to surrender peacefully. It is likely that the more fanatical Communists will still have some fight left in them. Regardless, our troops stand ready and willing behind the President and the Senate to ensure peace returns to Eikangaard.

Long Live the Republic!

Prime minister Jasper Tulpen congratulates Eikangaard in their victory against the EUSR
Press release - 16-10-2019 - 18:30 - Artwingen

Earlier today prime minister Tulpen congratulated his Eikangaardi counterpart president Albinson. The two leaders discussed the latest events in Eikangaard and the state of the northern front. The prime minister extended his condolences for the reported casualties on the Republic's side and stressed Lindenholt's commitment to further strengthening the legitimacy of the Eikangaardi Republic on the world stage and encouraged the accelerated reunification process to bring an end to the war.

In addition to speaking about the political developments on the Eikangaardi Island, the prime minister and president Albinson also discussed the Republic of Eikangaard's recent admission in to the VU customs union as well as possible new trade deals that Eikangaard would also get a say over. Before ending the phone call the prime minister reiterated his support of eventual Eikangaardi reunification and proposed Lindenholt could also aid in peacekeeping operations in northern Eikangaard and the continued defence of the Republic's territorial waters and sovereignty.

DEVELOPING NEWS: 2nd Fleet Dispatched to assist in Evacuation from the Eikangaardi Mainland, Kiez Stock Market Plunges Nearly 400 Points
Image
2nd Fleet of the Kiez Volksmarine enroute to Eikangaard

As confirmation of the EUSR's Capitulation emerged earlier this morning over EMN News, a Republic-sponsored Media Platform. Reports of elements affiliated with the 2nd Fleet departed the Port of Zeitlöw emerged only hours later as the Ministry of Defense, operating under orders from General Anton Krukov who issued an evacuation order to any Kiezan Military Personnel stationed in the territories of the former Eikangaard United Socialist Republic "With the Eikangaard War coming to an end, I, General Anton Krukov operating under the explicit orders of the Armed Forces Committee and Premier Johan Richtofen have issued an evacuation order for all Kiezan Military Personnel effective as of 11:00 AM Imperial Standard Time. All forces operating under the banner of the Kiez Armed Forces are hereby mandated to report to the Gustavus Naval Base for extraction from the Eikangaardi Mainland." The General stated over social media earlier this morning.

The capitulation of the EUSR and the Republic of Eikangaard's subsequent dominance over the Eikangaardi Mainland has sent the stock market into a panic, with investor confidence reaching an all-time low and the leading stock market index declining nearly 400 points in a matter of hours indicating that despite intervention on the part of the Executive Branch, instability within the stock market which began only two months ago is nearing its peak. "Investors are nervous and people are afraid." Stated Stock Broker Konrad Rothberg to reporters this afternoon "Our nation is waging a war against an overseas nation and we've lost a substantial sphere of influence to the Ventismar Union and the Eikangaard Republic, the mounting economic pressure is pushing our nation to the brink." In a national poll that was taken by an independent group indicated that concern for the Future of Kiez has been on the rise following the August 12th Assassination of Chancellor Ludvig Maxis.

In light of the recent developments, the Foreign Affairs Committee, the Armed Forces Committee, and the Joint Economic Committee have been called into Emergency Session in an attempt to address the current situation. We've also received a confirmation from the Office of The Premier that a Press Briefing will take place this evening.

This is a Developing Situation, we will update you as more information becomes available.

Minister Of Security Vírân Spêctér Says A “DEFCON 1 Scenario” Would Be Simulated At 4th And Final Military Exercise In November–December

Image

It has been nearly 10 days since MDAA and Daredland began their joint large military exercise – “Flail 10–11.” It is the 3rd of 4 grand military exercises that Sunrisia offered to hold with its’ allies. The architect of the idea of 4 exercises is Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér. Under his leadership, the 4 exercises were planned out in coordination with the general command of the Sunrisian Defense Force (SDF) and then put forth to the rest of the government, specifically the administration of Commander-in-chief President Válîd Sâlúbĕr. The “package of 4 grand military exercises”, obviously unofficially named that, was supported by National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên. Later the planned exercises got the approval of Commander-in-chief President Válîd Sâlúbĕr. The final step was to invite allies, who were Sunrisia’s direct neighbors and allies in MDAA, to participate together.

The first comprehensive military exercise held in Western Corentia, and the 1st of the 4, was – “Fire Wall.” It began on June 30th and ended on August 1st. Originally, it was started only by Creperian, Ederi and Sunrisian military forces, but the military forces of The Seven United (Damsmar) joined on Day 2 of “Fire Wall.” After the “Fire Wall” military exercise ended, time came for second drill. Those were the MDAA joint naval drills in northwestern Corentia, southwestern Dogmana and international waters south of Corentia. Those drills were the 2nd of 4. They began on August 23rd and ended on October 4th. The joint naval drills were officially an MDAA military exercise held under the alliance’s flag, whereas “Fire Wall” was treated just as a joint military exercise between Creperia, Edereon, The Seven United (Damsmar) and Sunrisia, all 4 of which happen to be the full member states of MDAA. Unlike the late start in “Fire Wall”, the forces of The Seven United (Damsmar) participated from the very beginning to the very end. The long-than-planned duration of MDAA joint naval drills has been linked with the breakout of the Vesvai War because southwestern Dogmana, close to the island of Vesvai, was one of the theatres of the MDAA joint naval drills. However, that theory has not been officially confirmed. Moreover, only Sunrisia, which participated in the Vesvai War in defense of New Vesvai, has a military alliance and a Mutual Defense Treaty with New Vesvai. MDAA only has a strategic partnership on security cooperation with New Vesvai, therefore, the rest of the alliance was not required to aid New Vesvai. Nevertheless, non-government military strategists in Sunrisia do suggest that the joint naval drills could have been extended for psychological pressure and ambiguity on whether MDAA as a whole might somehow become involved.

The currently-ongoing comprehensive and all-including “Flail 10–11” military exercise began on October 7th, shortly after the MDAA joint naval drills ended. Like the naval drills, “Flail 10–11” is also held under the MDAA flag, making it an alliance-exclusive military exercise. What also makes this drill exceptional, is that Daredland has been invited to participate. Daredland is an associate state of MDAA and an aspiring full member of the alliance, but has never taking part in MDAA drill, apart from bilateral exercises and training with Sunrisia. This is the first time that the Daredi armed forces are participating in an MDAA military exercise. The fast beginning of “Flail 10–11”was allowed by an in-advance preparation and planning, while the preceding military exercises in the line-up were still happening. It is expected that the current drill will last at least until mid-November, as is suggested in its’ codename. “10” stands for October and “11” for November.

But what has the media’s attention these days, while “Flail 10–11”is still going on, is the 4th and final military exercise that will begin in November. Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér recently spoke about it to journalists and said some things that were “interesting.” Minister Spêctér said that the 4th and final exercise, which does not have a name yet, will include a “DEFCON 1 scenario.” Specifically, the military exercise will simulate a scenario of conflict escalation from the level of conventional war to nuclear war. This is what Minister of Security Vírân Spêctér stated:

In Sunrisia, we do not use the measurements of DEFCON 1 to 5. However, DEFCON is the measurement we are going to go by as a “template term” to provide understanding for those outside Sunrisia. What is going to happen in the 4th and final exercise, is that participating countries will simulate a scenario where conventional war escalates into a nuclear war after all red lines have been crossed and a point of no return has been passed. We will be training how to defend from a hostile nuclear attack, how to launch a responsive nuclear strike after being attacked first, and how to even launch a possible preemptive strike now that our country’s altered nuclear doctrine allows it. Of course, we do not play around with the option of a preemptive strike, so it can apply to scenarios where red lines and points of no return have been crosses by our enemies. That is the kind of scenario we are going to be simulating.

I can say that the exercise will begin around November 10th. We cannot say when it would end, because given the intensity of the simulated scenario/plot of this exercise, dragging it on too long may not be the best of options. That is all I can share for now. Thank you.

National Defense Consultant Clîpăs Dépúlsên had follow-up comments on this 4th and final military exercise scheduled for November. His response was more of a geopolitical one as justification for the drill with a DEFCON 1 simulated scenario:

The Sunrisian–Englean meeting in West Zilveren Berg, the signing of a new cease-fire with North Baggnagia and the Sunrisian–Rhodeve phone call on the Vesvai cease-fire, should not be overestimated as “breakthrough stories” signaling some sort of geopolitical change or “detente” and thus supposedly making this DEFCON 1 exercise unnecessary. Things have not changed.

  • Designated Diplomatic Agent for Daredland Negotiations Párêc Adstâtér: “Sunrisia will not withdraw its’ support for the territorial integrity, freedom, independence and democracy in Daredland. On our side, there will be no one-sided beneficiary deal in the negotiations with the Englean side regarding the self-proclaimed Weniges Reich. The final word will be behind Daredland itself.

  • Designated Diplomatic Agent for Eikangaard Settlement Cóllên Súâsar: “Our early conception for the solution of the Eikangaard crisis was a support for a Confederation-like government that could unite and preserve the fragmented country, while keeping its’ territorial integrity and internal peace between differently-leaning groups. Of course, that would have been difficult, because the Republic, EUSR and other rival forces were in active confrontation and each sought to be a dominant government of all of Eikangaard. The Republic presently appears to have the upper-hand with VU’s additional support, but we will have to see where the situation develops from here. We would like to see active humanitarian efforts and since Lindenholt just suggested peacekeeping efforts, Sunrisia would support that.

Military and police demobilize after all protests calm down

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – The South Baggnagian Protection Army and police around the nation were mobilized and ready for upholding public order. This readiness was a result of peaceful protests around South Baggnagia calling for a restoration of democratic elections in the nation. The protests started in capital Jugac, spread to other cities and eventually overtook the nation on a wide scale. All of this happened very quickly. Sylva Čérny, current leader of the Socialist Bloc (SC), was the one who led people out into the streets. She propped up what has now become a demand for the Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia to bring back elections and allow the citizens to have a democratic government again. The Chamber of Deputies and the Presidency also had to be restored as state institutions.

The Congress of National Sovereignty has been the misfit among “regimes” because it had not oppressed the citizens apart from cancelling democratic elections after coming to power. It still retains much support in South Baggnagia as one of the best and strongest leaderships in the nation’s history. The Congress has been hailed as a leadership that South Baggnagia needed especially in these times of hostile North Baggnagia and an Eikangaard at war just to mention a few issues. The Congress allowed the citizens to realize the right to a peaceful protest led by Čérny but there were counter-protests in the making by supporters of the Congress of National Sovereignty. There was a risk of civil conflict escalating from opposing protests and that would have been deadly for South Baggnagia like no other nation. The Congress of National Sovereignty was considering a declaration of the State of Emergency or even introducing Martial Law to avoid bloodshed and fire on the streets. That is when the military and the police started mobilizing for possibly upholding public order.

The crisis seemed to end that same day. The Congress of National Sovereignty voted to hold a South Baggnagian National Plebiscite where the citizens would vote if the Congress should remain or if democratic elections be brought back. Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt later admitted that the Congress would have eventually handed power over to a democratic government. The Congress just needed to fix the mess of predecessor governments and take South Baggnagia through a very difficult period of survival. But the protests showed that people were calling for this issue to be settled now. They followed Sylva Čérny as she led them to the streets.

The Declaration of the National Plebiscite of South Baggnagia was seen as victory of the pro-democracy protests led by Sylva Čérny. She was celebrated as a national hero for leading the people to this victory or half-way to victory until the actual plebiscite happens. But the Congress of National Sovereignty did not view this as a loss on their part either. But the crisis did not seem to end there. The supporters of the Congress of National Sovereignty showed their disappointment in capitulation before the pro-democracy protests. The tension between the different camps still seemed to be there and the streets of South Baggnagia were still hot even in October. The military and police remained ready for the State of Emergency or Martial Law for a couple more days.

But the crisis now seems to have passed. The nation seems calm and at ease again. Things have apparently returned to normal. Everybody will now await the day of the National Plebiscite to make their voices heard instead of demonstrating on the street. With peace having returned the military and police have demobilized from their civil strife readiness level. The police can now return to regular law enforcement. The South Baggnagian Protection Army can once again focus on keeping the borders with North Baggnagia and Eikangaard secure.

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

National Renewal (NR) Party And The Break Out Alliance (BOA) Actively Holding A Series Of Meetings About Forming A Governing Coalition

After the ending of New Vesvai’s first historic general election since the Silver Revolution the winners sharing the victory have been holding regular meetings. The National Renewal (NR) party which finished with 49% (a margin away from a majority) and the Break Out Alliance (BOA) which finished with 31% have been meeting each other and discussing how they would be forming a new governing coalition. In reality this is actually a dialogue of three political parties because BOA is a political alliance of the Nationalist Bloc (NB) and the Pro-Independence Coalition (PIC). So there are actually three parties negotiating how they would be forming a government. NR (nicknamed “The Party of the Revolution”) and led by Adi Letago itself is believed to still have more influence in the new government simply because of its reputation. But while NB and PIC respect Letago and his leadership in the revolution BOA still intends to counter-balance NR’s hegemony in the government. Admittedly NB and PIC have decent chances of counter-balancing NR’s influence in the new government while merged together into a single BOA entity that they created. The parties also have their own solid ground to stand on because of their individual reputations (key contributions to New Vesvai’s nationalism and independence, coming up with the border wall with the Dominion of Vesvai, and being part of the opposition-led transitional government).

The meetings of NR and BOA have been dedicated a lot to premiership over the new government and forming a new cabinet. So far the consensus is reached that the cabinet’s formation will be finalized when the NR–BOA coalition actually takes over the Parliament from the transitional government. The parties have been arguing a lot about the Prime Minister. Consensus was reached on that too and it was pretty much the same as with forming a new cabinet. New Vesvai’s next Prime Minister will be elected when the NR–BOA coalition takes over Parliament and has its MPs vote on this key question. Sounds like a lot of key questions are being postponed. The parties have agreed to meet each other half-way and settle those key questions when they are actually in Parliament. So far seems like the only discussions moving forward are the creation of the NR–BOA coalition and power transit from the transitional government.

New Vesvai’s citizens are actively showing that they want Adi Letago as the New Prime Minister. He is considered a natural and logical choice as the leader of the Silver Revolution and also leader of the NR party that nearly won a majority. Not only are the polls showing that New Vesvaians want Letago to hold premiership. Citizens are also demonstrating and marching in the streets of New Vesvai’s major cities in support of Adi Letago as the next natural pick for Prime Minister of post-revolution New Vesvai.

Vesvai Still Open To The Idea Of Forming A Union State With Oblaren

Vesvai’s government has said again that it remains open to the idea of creating a Union State with Oblaren. The idea has been proposed a while back by Vesvai and has pretty much remained Vesvai’s idea. There has been a lack of response or enthusiasm from Oblaren’s side but MPs claim there should be no rush to conclusions. They say that the lack of response from Oblaren to the proposal is not reluctance or disinterest but Vesvai’s lack of initiative in pushing the proposal. Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal says he has not spoken of this Union State proposal with President Nathaniel Harrisbur and that is where the first major flaw in this whole project is:

“[I] think that Oblaren would be genuinely interested in this proposal. It is our fault that we have thrown that idea around and have stopped talking about it the next day. We should engage Oblaren on this proposal actively. I will personally try to contact President Nathaniel Harrisbur so we could address this or maybe even start working on it. Oblaren is not reluctant it’s just that we haven’t been doing much ourselves as the initiators of this idea. I will remind you that Oblaren has agreed to create joint military brigade and military corps with Vesvai. Problem is that we have not finished that project either. So that’s even more reason to begin a dialogue between Vesvai and Oblaren. We need to finish what we’ve started and we should start speaking of new ideas.

I’m personally confident that Oblaren would be interested in a Union State with Vesvai on equal basis. Both our nations share a lot. We are neighbors. We consider Oblarenites our brothers. We have cultural similarities. We have similar histories of being colonies of both our larger neighbors to the north whom today are our shared allies. Both our nations are members of ROVAA. That is pretty much the only integration we are in. We think that Vesvai and Oblaren could be integrated together deeper than within ROVAA. Joint military corps and concluding that project would be a good idea. Or we could go deeper and that’s what we’re talking about today.

Vesvai would be open to creating a Union State with Oblaren as a supranational union of both nations but we would also be in favor of merging into one sovereign state all-together. Together we would be stronger and more influential. We should live together and that would bring nothing but good to us. But we’re not going to be pushy towards Oblaren with this question if they’re indeed not interested. We just hope it isn’t so. We hope Oblaren will be interested.”

Confederal Ministries still won’t work with the Weniges Reich in the same vein as with the Hasperan Republic

Image

The United Confederal Assembly of the Daredi Confederation has been seeing some dramatic speeches in both its chambers. Confederal Minister of Reintegration and Reconciliation of the Daredi Confederation Franz Potesinan and Confederal Minister of Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced People of the Daredi Confederation Andrea Färber spoke at the National Council and the Council of States. Both their speeches basically contained the same strict message. They personally and their ministries are not ready to work with the self-declared Weniges Reich again in the same way they are working with the self-declared Hasperan Republic. Potesinan and Färber did not threaten to resign from their posts if the government goes against their positions but they rather expressed hope the Daredi government will make the right decision.

Both their stances were criticized by Confederal Minister of Home Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Karl Weiß. But the actual harsh backlash game from the Germanic Union coalition which includes the Black Eagle Party (BEP), the Weniges Representation Front (WRF) and the Legion of Germanic Daredland (LGD). But it seems that the course of events is presently on Potesinan’s and Färber’s side. The Daredi government does not think that the Confederation should turn back to the self-declared Weniges Reich at this moment. The majority of deputies at the National Council and the Council of States share this position, Confederal Chancellor Lars Sommer and President Hans Receni also think so.

The discussion at the Daredi government on the Weniges topic began over the diplomatic meeting of the Sunrisians and the Engleans that among other things concerned the Weniges topic and the Daredi topic over all. Daredland has expressed hope and confidence that the Sunrisians will protect Daredi interests and the Sunrisians responded with a promise. Confederal Chancellor Lars Sommer said that Daredland will only return to the Weniges issue again after it becomes clear what the Sunrisians and the Engleans agreed on. Sommer said that the Daredi government will not be holding a dialogue with the unrecognized Weniges militant-run authority over seized territories. At most Daredland will only speak with the Englean state as an occupying foreign power in control of the Weniges Reich. For that the Daredi government would employ Special Representative for Interactions with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg Niklas Böhler. Confederal Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Daredi Confederation Zina Fenstermacher can’t directly speak with the Engleans because Daredland severed diplomatic relations with the Kaiserlich-Controlled State of Engleberg after the Weniges conflict. But as of today nothing is changing towards the Weniges Reich. The Western Corentian Nationalists of Daredland (WCND) party believes it is pointless to speak with the Engleans because they will just insist on the separation of the Weniges Reich from Daredland and Daredi recognition of that. Daredland on the other hand will now allow it so the possible conversation is dead on arrival according to the party.

The Daredi government has ceased the policy of Weniges settlement after ‘elections’ were held there outside Daredi law with the help of Rhodevus. In retaliation Daredland recognized The Ile du Fleurs (The Ile of Flowers) as a sovereign nation independent from Rhodevus. Daredi officials have turned away from the Weniges Reich and have been ignoring it since. All attention has been reoriented towards the self-declared Hasperan Republic. The Konföderaleswehr remains stationed on the Weniges demarcation line to contain Weniges-Englean westwards expansion and help refugees from the occupied territories cross over. This policy of stonewalling the Weniges Reich seems to have only played into Englean hands and helped the Kaiser’s regime assimilate the territory more and more every day. Yet Daredland refuses to disown the occupied territories and leave behind its citizens living there. Daredi civil society made it clear it will resist any government that will give up on the occupied parts of the Wenigberg region and fellow citizens living there.

His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich unsure if North Baggnagia should let in refugees from Eikagaard, telling them to go to the South

SILCENDA, NORTH BAGGNAGIA – His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich has Honored the People of North Baggnagia with Another Outstanding Address at the Consultative Assembly of the Glorious Nation of North Baggnagia. As Number 1 Patriot the Great Leader explained that the North Baggnagian Land is for North Baggnagians and All Baggnagians First and Foremost. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich explained that event the most fruitful lands in this world cannot sustain the rest of the world. The Great Leader declared His Holy Mission to develop North Baggnagia for North Baggnagians First and Foremost. The Mission has become Even More Holy considering that North Baggnagia is feeling pressure from distant foreign imperialists and collaborators who want to prevent the rise of Baggnagia and Unification of the Nation. This has forced His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich to declare that His commitment and policy must be North Baggnagia first and the development of North Baggnagia must benefit Her People First and Foremost. And that is why the Great Leader says that North Baggnagia can’t become a sanctuary to foreigners fleeing their land. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich was referring to eastern neighbors Eikangaardians whose land is being ravaged by war. The Great Leader showed Humane Humbleness and expressed his understanding and prayers for Eikangaardians enduring such a crisis. Upon saying this His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich called on North Baggnagians to be grateful that North Baggnagia is at peace because of the North Baggnagian Holy Army, the Genius North Baggnagian Diplomacy and the fear of North Baggnagia by Her enemies. Upon showing Exceptional Humbleness and Empathy the Great Leader declared that Eikangaardians must understand that the Great Leader’s commitment is fruitful development of North Baggnagia for North Baggnagians First and Foremost. Taking in refugees and flows of migrants would slow down that development which is already challenged by foreign sanctions and pressure. That is why His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich called on Eikangaardians not to flee to North Baggnagia. The Great Leader instead recommended the refugees choose the South. His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich announced that He had ordered increase presence of the North Baggnagian Holy Army near the Eikangaardian border to regulate and prevail illegal crossings. Because of a cease-fire with the South the very large presence of troops at that border is not as necessary and that is why some of them could be dispatched to the Eikangaard border. But His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich reminded that North Baggnagia has one of the biggest and most powerful militaries in the world. That is why there is enough manpower to equally guard the South Baggnagian and Eikangaardian borders from threats against the Glorious Nation. When His Excellency Marshal Jan Tillich finished the speech all members of the Consultative Assembly of the Glorious Nation of North Baggnagia gave a standing ovation to the Great Leader.

THIS JUST IN: Premier Richtofen Addresses the Nation
Image

--- WE INTERRUPT OUR SCHEDULED PROGRAMMING TO BRING YOU THIS SPECIAL NEWS BULLETEIN ---

"Mr. Speaker, Members of Parliament, My Fellow Kiezans. I come to you today in order to address the events that took place on October 16th of 2019. In the early hours of October 16th, 2019 we received confirmation that the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic, which had been at war with the Republic of Eikangaard since the Second of September was forced to formally capitulate to the Republic of Eikangaard and its VU benefactors. Upon confirmation of the EUSR's capitulation did we also recieve word of the Reisau Stock Exchange plummeting nearly 4% in the span of an hour. While we have been successful in evacuating our troops from the Eikangaardi mainland, it is with a heavy heart that I confirm extreme measures were needed to be implemented in order to minimize the damage done to our economy.

For the past three months, our nation has struggled with the loss of Chancellor Ludvig Maxis, a loss in which found ourselves questioning the very fate of this nation, one of which was driven by the ideals of the Late Chancellor Ludvig Maxis. I have watched, and I have listened as the people of this great nation made clear to us that they doubt our ability to lead, our ability to stay afloat amid a sea of conflict. I have had the misfortune to learn about the isolated circumstances of civil strife that have plagued our nation for the past two days and I have come to realize, as most of you already have that our nation, our way of governance and our very way of living is now under threat by those who seek to meddle in our affairs. From the United Sunalayn Assembly's passage of Resolution #154 to the National Union of Demitor's unprovoked attack upon our very government. We now face a test which will decide the stability of our great nation.

I understand that the people of Kiez are anxious, afraid of what the future may hold for us. But know that it was by the people that our nation was formed, and it will be the people that decide the future course of our nation. Know that myself and this administration understand the uncertainty of our nation's future and will do everything in our power to ensure that our nation not only recovers from these string of unfortunate events but grows stronger from these experiences. In the coming weeks, with the powers granted to this office under the Emergency Powers Act of 1992, myself, and this administration shall officially call upon all people of Kiez to participate in a referendum to not only decide the future of this great nation but to ultimately decide whether you, the people retain confidence in not only this Administration but also the very parliamentary system in which we have operated since the 20th Century.

In addition to this, I have ultimately decided, after countless hours of deliberation with the Foreign Affairs Committee to formally and officially cut off all diplomatic communication to the Republic of Eikangaard and instead communicate with them through the Ventismarian Union. The actions of the Republic of Eikangaard have clearly and definitely show their disdain of the wishes of their people, and those of the people of the Eikangaard United Socialist Republic and that Is something that I will not tolerate.

We have, and always will be a nation that not only stands up for the rights of those who have been persecuted here and abroad but also ensure that all who inhabit this nation have a voice.

Für das Vaterland, Kiez Über Alles."

NEW VESVAI BROADCASTING

Transitional Government Finishes Last Parliamentary Session Before Power Transfer

New Vesvai’s transitional government has closed its final parliamentary session. The power transfer ceremony is only hours away and the opposition-led transitional government is prepared to pass the leadership over to an elected government. The National Renewal (NR) party and the Break Out Alliance (BOA) have managed to form a coalition after many difficult week-long meetings. The finally reached coalition agreement is what allowed to finally have the power transfer today. Acting Prime Minister Raio Foranel was the one to open the last parliamentary session of the transitional government. The guests of honor were Head Administrator Andre Tilicome and Former Prime Ministers Kai Placore and Matteas Noran. The last parliamentary session of the transitional government saw the gathering of acting MPs and of New Vesvai’s Acting Ministers.

Everybody present in the Hall of the Parliament who had something to say or wanted to speak was invited to speak at the podium. And that is what everybody pretty much did. Acting PM Raio Foranel spoke twice with the inclusion of his opening statement and a separate speech. Acting Ministers of the temporary cabinet in the transitional government spoke. MPs spoke. Even guests of honor HA Andre Tilicome and Former PMs Kai Placore and Matteas Noran spoke. Everybody pretty much reflected on the primary topics of the New Vesvai’s independence, the first general election, the Silver Revolution, the current transitional period after the Silver Revolution, the recent short Vesvai War and the historic general election since the Silver Revolution. Everybody reflected on what they have individually achieved in this transitional period. Everybody spoke about the specialty of this transitional government because as a temporary national leadership set to rule for a short time, it had to endure two great responsibilities: the post-revolution transition and leading the nation through the Vesvai War. Not every transitional government has had the misfortune or the unusual difficulty to take the nation through something as tough as transition and war. Usually temporary authorities only are set up for a temporary period to only take the nation through a transition, power vacuum and social uncertainty which is already tough. But New Vesvai’s current transitional government also had war to add to its credits and the nation still pulled through but without the help of allies. Everybody also reflect on the vision of New Vesvai’s future after the revolution.

Acting PM Raio Foranel closed the final parliamentary session which brought the number of his speeches in this session alone to three. Foranel bid farewell to the current Parliament and to the transitional government. He offered his gratitude on behalf of New Vesvai’s people for their service. Foranel also congratulated the NR party and BOA for forming a coalition and wished them success in leading the nation as the first revolutionary government that’s been elected. For Acting PM Foranel himself this is not the end of his acting premiership. The NR–BOA coalition is taking over the Parliament today but Foranel will remain Acting PM until the new government elects the next Prime Minister. The last parliamentary session of the transitional government ended with applause for each other by everyone gathered.

South Baggnagia accuses North of being inhumane for its refugee stance

JUGAC, SOUTH BAGGNAGIA – Minister of Foreign Affairs of South Baggnagia Mina Symank fired back at North Baggnagian leader Marshal Jan Tillich after a speech he just gave at the Consultative Assembly of North Baggnagia. Marshal Jan Tillich said that North Baggnagia can’t afford to slow down its development under sanctions pressure by letting in refugees from the warring Eikangaard into North Baggnagia. By his logic the North Baggnagian leader chose to link an influx of possible fleeing refugees with economic and development troubles in North Baggnagia. In that same speech Marshal Tillich called on the refugees from Eikangaard to flee to South Baggnagia which is a call he has no legal right to make. After a speech highly praised by his own propaganda Marshal Jan Tillich sent troops to patrol the already sealed border with Eikangaard to prevent illegal border crossings. There is no telling what North Baggnagian troops might do with any refugees that could actually try to cross over into North Baggnagia.

Minister Mina Symank called the Marshal’s speech inhumane and also took offense that he allowed himself to invite refugees into South Baggnagia which he has not authority in. According to her it only shows that Marshal Tillich considers himself as leader of all Baggnagia and not just the North. He keeps positioning himself that way. Symank understood that her own diplomats have been working hard to stabilize relations with the North and a second successful achievement of a cease-fire was a hard task that was reached. The South is trying to avoid any harsh or even hostile rhetoric towards the North. But Symank said that she could not contain herself with how much she was appalled at what Marshal Jan Tillich said for so many reasons.

Chairman of the Presidium of Congress of National Sovereignty of South Baggnagia Gustav Feldt said he understood, respected and supported Symank’s humane position. He also congratulated Symank for calling out the North Baggnagian leader by reminding him he has no authority in South Baggnagia to invite refugees here. North Baggnagia has taken a clear policy of selfishness and indifference towards Eikangaardian refugees by sealing the border and now sending their troops to stop any Eikangaardians from crossing over. The Congress of National Sovereignty has become concerned for the lives of innocent Eikangaardians that might risk crossing over into North Baggnagia and that is what encouraged the Congress to finally take a stance.

Until now South Baggnagia had no official policy towards possible Eikangaardian refugees whereas North Baggnagia outright sealed the border and now has troops there. To save Eikangaardians from being shot or captured by North Baggnagian troops in an attempt to cross over there the Congress of National Sovereignty has opened South Baggnagia to possible Eikangaardian refugees as a sanctuary that will help them. Chairman Gustav Feldt asked possible Eikangaardian refugees not to risk crossing over into the North and instead head for the South where they’d receive a completely different type of welcome and be protected. The Chairman said that South Baggnagia is a small nation but it will do what it can in its capacity to save lives. After recent protests against the Congress it’s unclear how the nation will react to this abrupt opening up to refugees.

West Zilveren Berg Considering Its Own Currency Eventually

The West Zilveren government is daily working out plans how one of the world’s youngest countries would continue going down an individual path. The Sunrisian peacekeepers will eventually leave, so will the Sunrisian military police and the remaining forces. The West Zilveren Self-Defense Forces (WZSDF) will eventually become active together with the West Zilveren police. Other state institutions will get off the ground too and West Zilveren Berg will eventually have to take care of its’ own jurisdiction and fend for itself. That is especially a reality that West Zilveren Berg is preparing for, considering that the country chose a non-bloc status and will not be joining any organizations. One of the things that West Zilveren Berg would also eventually have to provide for itself when the Sunrisians leave, is its’ own currency. Right now, West Zilveren Berg is using the Sunrisian Suni as its’ state currency, which formally referred to here in West Zilveren Berg as – the “Provisional Suni.” However, Chief Secretary Faas Van Hoebeek spoke today about the possibility that West Zilveren Berg may have to work out a road map to developing its’ own currency. How will that exactly be done is unknown yet and it only remains a verbalized idea without any specifics. The options of its’ own currency for West Zilveren Berg have been the return of the pre-division currency or developing a brand new currency unique to West Zilveren Berg. Some are skeptical that it would be a good idea to consider changing the currency in a period, when the global economy might be looking at another downturn. Many support the idea of keeping the status quo and still using the Sunrisian currency in West Zilveren Berg for some time, believing that Sunrisia would also welcome the idea of its’ currency obtaining an international status by being used as official currency in 2 countries now.
