David George Meets President Connolly
David George arrived in Cormiar two days ago to greet the then President-Elect Tom Connolly and begin a round of talks on the future of the Capslandian-Panttoran alliance and to announce his administration's official sponsor of Panttorran membership of the Ventismarian Union as an associate member.
David George was one of the first world leaders to congratulate the new president before jetting out to Sunrisia. David George has seen a strict itinerary during the visit to Pantorrum, inspecting the Capslandian naval base in the Centismar and taking a tour of the scenic Pantorran capital of Corimar. David George was also busy during the inauguration of President Connolly, one of the few foreign dignitaries present during the event. Finally, David George was able to sit down and begin the informal bilateral talks earlier today, the specific topics of which were not officially released to the press or public. However, it has been highly stipulated that the talks involved the current Capslandian-Pantorran defence agreement as well as the Pantorran airbase in RCAF Lemmington, North Corbourne and the Capslandian naval base in Pantorrum.
David George has long wished to increase Capsland's military presence in the region due to diplomatic and military allies located nearby, it is also a strategic and financial interest for the Ventismarian Union with the multiple VU waterways and canals linking Capsland to the Centismar directly.
What was known about the meeting was David George voicing his official support for Pantorrum to join the Ventismarian Union as an associate member state. This move would be the first major update to the VU in years and would greatly expand bilateral trade between Capsland and Pantorrum, especially within the banking and financial services sector, one of Capsland's largest and most profitable industries. The banking sector already exports services to the Pantorrum economy worth multiple billions in Cappars; moving away from international trading standards to VU regulated trading is projected to increase the amount and worth of these services fourfold potentially making Pantorrum the largest overseas export for Capsland's biggest industry.
The vote to allow Pantorrum Associate Member status is predicted to be scheduled either later this month or early next month.
The Executive Chancellor will soon make his way to Orilya to conclude his international tour as part of his foreign directive pledge.
