Preparations underway for the annual State of The Nation, Kiez Maintains its Defensive Pact with Novorossiysk, Richtofen Administration Condemns the Unitary Commission for their suppression of the Press
Activity inside of the Reichstag has seen a substantial increase during the early hours of this morning. This comes ten days before the annual State of The Nation, in which the Premier is obligated to give a report on the current state of the Communist Reich, as well as outlining his plan for the year of 2018. While many are unsure of which direction that Premier Richtofen will be going for the year of 2018, one thing is certain: this State of The Nation is going to be unlike any other, with the Premier himself inviting officials around the world to witness this important event. "It is important to leave the events of this country open for all of the world to see." the Premier's spokesperson stated to members of the press within the Reichstag. "Not only is this a show of solidarity from officials within the Federal Government, but it is also a show that we harbor no fears of criticism, rather we as a people welcome the questions that our fellow neighbors provide to not only our Premier, but to also our National Government."
Following increasing reports of tension in the Centismar Sea and the subsequent buzzing of a Pantorran Vessel by a Chernomoretski Jet, the Richtofen Administration has reassured their Novorossiysk allies that the recently signed defensive pact with the small nation will be upheld. "We cannot, in good conscience sit by and watch smaller nations be bullied into submission by the likes of the Republic of Pantorrum." The Premier stated early this morning "While we do not approve of the Tsezar's methods of trying to push away the Pantorrans from their country, allow me to make this clear: Kiez will never abandon its allies, and we shall be there for the people of Novorossiysk when they need it most." In the most recent report, Kiez military units that were dispatched to the country arrived on January 15th and began preparing for the potential conflict by beginning collaboration efforts with the City-State's defense forces in response to the presence of the Pantorran Navy's battle group in the Centismar Sea.
Hours ago, a report came from the Montedoran News stating that they were ordered to shut down by the Unitary Commission of the Seven United, as well as their Commission for The Press. While Reichstag officials have yet to comment on this particular issue, the Premier made a brief statement in regards to this violation of not only the freedoms of the Press, but also of the flow of Information in the nation of the Seven United. "For a nation, much less one located on the continent of Corentia to suppress the flow of information that its media outlets report to their people is not only an appalling move that goes against the interests of their people, but could also serve to be politically motivated by the Unitary Commission's ruling administration. This should not be allowed to go on without other nations stepping up and condemning this act, we need to come together on this issue and tell this Unitary Commission that we will not stand for such an act that goes against the interests of their people and advise them of the potential consequences to come in response to this blatant censorship."

Yesterday, the Novorossiysk Air Force buzzed a Ticonderoga Cruiser in international waters. The vessel buzzed was in the process of conducting anti-drug operations, and was on a mission to intercepted a small freighter expected of transporting drugs into northern Pantorrum. The vessel was forced to terminate its mission and switch its focus to a low altitude, high speed aircraft that refused to respond to communication attempts made by the ships crew. The fighter was deemed an immediate threat to the vessel, and the ships crew were ordered to battle stations. It did not take long for the vessels crew to realize that the incoming fighter was of Novorossiysk origin, a Dassault Rafale C. The advanced, multirole fighter craft did not change its course, lowering altitude on a direct heading for the ships starboard side. The ships commanding officer, Commander Neil Gorsuch, is entirely responsible for avoiding war. He made the decision to take the risk, and not fire on the unresponsive fighter. His gamble paid off, as the fighter simply buzzed the ship without any weapons fire.
The close call was one of many in recent months, with tensions on the rise between us and the City of Novorossiysk. The recent advancement of the city states aggression was unexpected, with the recent withdrawal of their allies and the obvious order of power in the sea. The bold move has called into question whether or not we have a response. Since the beginning of the crisis, the Defense Department has formulated the Novorossiysk Plan. It is an official policy for dealing with the aggressive city state, that grows bolder and more daring with each passing day. The policy is classified, but the Secretary of Defense has assured the media and the Pantorran people that a plan is in place for a response to a hypothetical attack on a Pantorran military unit. He also said that the plan contains preparation orders for a possible preemptive military strike, should they believe that the city of Novorossiysk is planning for war.
The buzzing greatly disrupted anti-drug operations, with the drug smuggling vessel escaping from the militaries grasps. With the Cruiser to far out of range, and no other naval vessels close enough to intercept in time, the drug freighter likely delivered its cargo of narcotics to our northern region. The Secretary of Homeland Security spoke on the matter earlier today.
"These ridiculous, aggressive actions are beginning to have consequences on our national security. These petty displays have hindered our militaries capability to intercept and prevent drug smuggling activities in the Centismar. Novorossiysk is getting in the way of police operations in the sea, and this ranges from drug smuggling to the illegal weapons trade, and even anti-piracy operations. Because of the distraction they've created for our forces, the FIA and NIB estimate the crime in the sea is up 19% in the last quarter. As much as they don't want to face the facts, our navy is the largest and strongest in the sea. And without our contributions to anti-crime operations, these illegal miscreants will continue to spread their operations. Examples like the one seen today serve not to intimidate or frighten us. They serve only to further the interests of the criminal under world. I call on the leadership of the City of Novorossiysk to end its aggressive posture, for the good of justice and anti-criminal operations. I ask them to no longer serve the interests of drug dealers, terrorists, and murderers. We cannot fight crime and keep a watchful eye on your aggression without drawing attention from one or the other."
The Secretary's concerns were echoed this morning by the Vice President, who called the states escalation of a conflict "dangerous" and "extraordinarily reckless." The brewing war has been silent for well over a month until this most recent escalation. The city continues to hold over a hundred Pantorrans prisoner after the seized the assets of a private company last year. The State Department confirmed that they've refused 19 attempts at diplomatic outreaches by our Governemnt, refusing to release prisoners. The Vice President did express a willingness to compromise in the conflict.
"There is wrong on both sides of this conflict. It was wrong of us to violate your airspace and buzz your vessels. It was wrong of you to violate our airspace, to seize our vessels and people, and to buzz our vessels. As such, in the interests of peace, I once again call on the City of Novorossiysk to sit down in a neutral location and discuss and end to this conflict before it begins. We are willing to pay reparations for the fighter craft we shot down when you violated our airspace, and in return we demand the release of our people, vessels, and cargo."
Many nations around the world have called upon us to release the Manifest of the captured vessels, with the Department of Commerce did earlier today. The Manifest was thoroughly reviewed by many in the media and was published online for easy viewing. To save you the time, we've compiled a short list. Below is a short summary of the cargo the convoy was transporting.-17 Tons of Canned Goods
In total, the 3 vessels were carrying 119 Tons of Foodstuff and 9 Tons of Consumer Goods. With the current length of their containment, the Department of Commerce says they expect most of the food to be either expired or consumed by the Novorossiysk. They are, however, demanding the return of all canned goods and consumer goods.
-23 Tons of Corn
-15 Tons of Rice
-12 Tons of Grain
-7 Tons of Fruit
-19 Tons of Fish
-16 Tons of Beef
-9 Tons of Consumer Goods
With the end of our active involvement in the Bohin on the horizon, the Defense Department began trying to secure a very special deal. Thanatos Airbase was granted to us only for the duration of the war, meaning that we would eventually have to leave the Airbase and return it to Uszwa. This was averted yesterday evening, when the Defense Department secured a deal with the Uszwa Government. In exchange for 200 million annually, the Uszwa Government will allow us to continue operating from Thanatos Airbase.
The major deal still has to be approved by Congress, who would need to appropriate the funding for the rental arrangement. It is widely expected that the appropriation will pass the House and Senate, despite some Liberal Democrat opposition in both chambers. When the funds are appropriated, we will have expanded our reach to southern Ziamban. Thanatos Airbase will allow for the air force to assist in operations in Ziamban, and expand our militaries operation capacity to counter terrorist influences in the region.

Chancellery proposes future summit in Daredland with Western Corentian nations and other partners
Chancellor Calvin Aigner has addressed the State Council with the proposal from the Chancellery to engage Western Corentian or other potential partners of Daredland more actively. He cited political, economic and military reasons for such a move. For the near future the Chancellor has offered to host a Daredland–West Corentia summit in the Daredi capital or anywhere else convenient to bring about economic integration or at least closer economic ties. It was a proposition by Aigner from a while back. The Chancellor focused on Western Corentia, but he was also open to an economic summit with more global partners. It includes Nordstramus with whom Daredland has just established diplomatic ties. On this list are other nations that Daredland could have an equal and productive partnership with.
“I have talked about a common market inside Corentia or at least Western Corentia some time ago. That sounds like a good idea to me and we should discuss it with others. It doesn’t have to include all nations in Corentia, just the interested ones. Or if we do not want to go the globalist route, we could work on many individual treaties with many nations. It doesn’t need to be an integration entirely. For geographic reasons, a common market could work in Western Corentia or more of Corentia, while individual deals could work with partners around the world. Within Corentia, Daredland could join WECOFTA or establish individual agreements with each state separately. Maybe a larger Corentian common market might sound attractive to some nations. We do not need to restrict ourselves just to our neighborhood either. We should be an open society and engage the whole world, which is why it shouldn’t necessarily just be a Daredland–Western Corentia summit, but a Daredland–World summit. Daredland is in economically tough times right now. We are not quite in a recession, but we are balancing close to it. We need to exchange investments with our region and the world. We cannot live just on Sunrisian economic support and loans. We need to get out of this pit and restart economic growth. We do not need to attach ourselves economically to anyone either. What we need is partnerships on equal grounds.”
In the same speech Chancellor Aigner also suggested to organize a special Daredland–MDAA summit or have Daredi officials attend one of MDAA’s own summits. The Chancellor has said that MDAA finally needs to be engaged more actively so that Daredland could fully integrate. “We have an observer status and a special outside partner status, but our goal is to join MDAA in the near future. Our officials should hold talks with the MDAA bloc itself to finally get this going. Hopefully, if we were to hold two-sided summits or attend MDAA summit, at one of these events Daredland could achieve an associate membership like Smoya or maybe even be offered full membership. After foreign aggression against our country, we know that this path is for Daredland to take.” The State Council was divided on the proposal. Some supported the Chancellor’s idea, others said that Daredland needs to resolve the Weniges Reich issue before it could make any other military-related plans.

Chancellor Calvin Aigner answers questions on economic direction
The media had a chance to ask Chancellor Calvin Aigner about Daredland’s economic situation and the direction in which it is heading. The questions were asked at a recent press conference that the Chancellor had with the journalists. Aigner said that Daredland has been effectively avoiding recession with the help of government’s actions and thanks to the foreign economic assistance from Sunrisia. The Chancellor reassured that the economy is stabilized, but that Daredland should aim for higher than just stability. The government’s mission is to achieve growth once more and that is what the Daredi government aims to do. Chancellor Aigner laid out some options of economic development that the government is considering, some new, some old. “The option that we had recently been looking more at, was for Daredland to join WECOFTA, an existing free trade area of Western Corentian nations. That proposition was put forward by our Chancellery. The State Council had mixed reactions. Some were for, while others weren’t enthusiastic about attaching Daredland directly to foreign economies and adapting to standards set forth by others. As an alternative, we had proposed at least a very special deal between Daredland and WECOFTA. The State Council supported the second option with more unanimity. Other options are the ones that we had talked about just now, when I addressed the State Council. Larger common market in Corentia or individual treaties with Corentian and other countries around the world. Both options are on the table. We might try to balance between all of them for now and it might work.”

BREAKING: Novorossiysk Fighter Slams into DestroyerToday, a Novorossiysk fighter continued the nations routine aggression. Except this time, Pantorrans paid for it with their lives. In what has become a routine occurrence, a Novorossiysk F-15 made an attempt at buzzing a Pantorran Vessel stationed in international waters. The aggressive display started off fine, with the supersonic jet dropping altitude to 60 feet, which would normally take it just over the aft section of the vessel. Except this time the jet was going way faster than usual. And this time, the plane didn't just pass over.
The F-15 slammed into the side of the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, resulting in a massive explosion that nearly reached a munitions compartment. Fortunately it didn't, and the entire vessel wasn't destroyed. But regardless, 17 Pantorran Sailors were injured and 9 killed in the strike. The sea was stained red in the blood of Pantorrans, so that the City State could pursue its agenda of hate and aggression. The President was unavailable in the crisis, leaving the Vice President to respond.
"This death and crippling of our vessel is unforgiveable. Our servicemen lost their lives because of Novorossiysk aggression and escalation of a conflict we have been tirelessly trying to avoid. The President is unavailable to speak at the moment, but I assure you that he will not respond kindly. We are the victim of multiple, repeated violations of our sovereignty. First they take our people prisoner, and now they murder them in cold blood in waters where we had every right to be. We demand that the City of Novorossiysk pay for the 240 million dollar repair bill, and for reparations to the injured sailors and the families of those they killed today. I will address a joint session of Congress tomorrow, and I will propose to the full chamber that immediate sanctions and embargo be placed on the city. I call upon our allies to stand against these violations of international law with us, and to help deter the city from capturing more our people and killing more of our sailors. If you are our ally, if you have any regard for international law, you will stand against Novorossiysk and seek justice for the innocent people affected by the power grabbing and greed of this city state."
The Defense Department stepped up patrols in the sea, issuing a no fly zone and requesting vessels to identify with the Department of Commerce before entering the Centismar Corridor. The Northern Air Wing has been put on high alert, and naval vessels have received orders to fire on any aircraft that doesn't respond to communication attempts and continues on a low altitude course for their vessel. The 2nd Carrier Task Force is preparing for deployment to the Centismar to reinforce the Amphibious Group stationed in international waters, stepping up our power projection across the sea.
The word "war" hasn't been uttered by any member of the government yet, but many analysts expect that the President will consider it seriously when he hears what has happened. Until he becomes available, we won't know. So in other words, keep an ear open for tomorrows press conference to find out whether or not the City of Novorossiysk sealed its fate with this act.
Victory for the AirforceIn a more positive light, the Air Force obtained a significant victory in the Bohin today. General Bradley led a massive offensive against 3 enemy facilities, with the Defense Department estimating that over 1,100 casualties were inflicted. The massive assault practically doubled, over night, the number of casualties we've inflicted on the Bohin. The total casualty count, as estimated by the Secretary of the Air Force, is now 2,300, and maybe as many as 5,000 injured in the last 3 months. The immense success of the air campaign was marked by loss, as well. 11 Pilots were killed in todays offensive, each of them leaving behind a wife and children at home. They were shot down by Bohin Air Defenses as their F-16's made way toward their targets. The pilots were all professional airmen, having served for at least 6 years in the Air Force.
13 fighter craft were lost in total, with two men stranded in the deserts of the Bohin. The Air Force confirmed that they have coordinates of the downed pilots and are mounting an emergency evacuation. Pave Hawk Helicopters are expected to depart early tomorrow morning to extract the air men and bring them back to safety, likely ending their tour in Ziamban and sending them home to their families. The lucky 8 F-16 pilots who survived were scared at the loss of their friends, and the entire military and nation share their pain. Great servicemen died in the line of duty today to the Bohin menace. They had survived 3 months of war, and died 7 days before they may have been sent back home.
The loss of honorable life was not the only casualty of the offensive, with the Air Force's Budget being another. The Air Force lost 13 F-16's at a replacement price of between 200 million and 250 million Pantorran dollars. The Secretary of Defense said earlier that he will ask the House Budget Committee to appropriate emergency out of the Federal Surplus to pay for the fighters replacements, which may spare the air force from having to scrap another project. Whether or not these replacement budgets will be approved is yet to be seen, but with Conservatives at the helm it seems likely. One price tag that can't be refunded is the P$ 11 million in weapons, munitions, fuel, and flares used or lost in the mission.
So far, 11 airmen have been KIA, 2 confirmed as POW, and 2 MIA. Additionally, 18 Army Personnel were killed in an artillery strike from Marxist Uszwa a few weeks ago. With 15 F-16's lost, the total bill for the war is estimated at around P$ 4 Billion for replacements, fuel, munitions, food, and wages. The Defense Department has expressed some regret while being grilled by the House Armed Services Committee, where Deputy Secretary of Defense Howard Cheng said that the war "would have been better to stay out of." 7 days remain before the war effort will be terminated.
