Serial Killer Found!

Citizens of Nordstramus and more specifically Conley should be relieved as notorious serial killer John Reed is thrown into custody. Reed was captured by police when a victim called for help after he broke into his house. Reed also known as "The Butcher of Conley" made international headlights when he murdered two innocent police officers last month. Experts say that Reed may have killed upwards of fifteen in his two-month hiatus.

Police Captain Devin Bouvin reports "Good people of Nordstramus, we caught him, we finally caught him. It is a new age, children don't need to be in constant fear while playing in the streets and civilians do not need to be worried when carrying on their day. I gave my dues to the brave men and women who risk their lives protecting us." The mayor of Conley, George Mcmillan was thankful to all the courageous Conleyians, who stayed calm in such a dire time.

John Reed apparently lurked in the dark alleyways of downtown Conley and looked for his victims. His weapon of choice was a cleaver, which he used to butcher countless victims. Police have only heard descriptions of Reed but never managed to capture him until this day. Reed tried to break into a large home in the outskirts of Conley. When he threw a rock through the window, he was met with veteran Dirk Artest. Dirk, an expert in combat managed to disarm the tyrant and fought him off until the police arrived. Mayor George Mcmillan granted Dirk Artest with the "Oustanding Citizen Award" the highest achieving a citizen can obtain.

John Reed is currently awaiting trial. It is expected that he will serve the hardest time in maximum security prison anyone can face. It is also rumored he may be sentenced to be executed. Whichever choice the Supreme Judge rules, it is safe to say that John Reed will not be seen again.

Rezua Urges A Peaceful End to Centismarian Issue, Expresses Disappointment with Zilveren Berg, Election Week Nearly Completed

Eastern Breeze

Weeks ago, war seemed to be brewing in the Centismar. Despite this, Novorossiysk and Pantorrum have narrowly evaded war. While this is very good news, The Councils of Parliament are still wary of the tensions between these two nations. In previous months, parliament asked for Novorossiysk to release Pantorran citizens and for Pantorrum to reimburse Novorossiyk for the aircraft they shot down. This month, however, parliament has decided to declare official neutrality in this matter. This shocking change of tone, from trying to be a peace-broker to declaring neutrality owes itself to the Bohi-Molenstoni conflict.

Blue Party Chief Senator Bryan Nieliz stated that he believed it would be best if Rezua did not interfere with the Centismarian tensions. To support his belief, the chief senator reminded the nation that when Rezua tried to invite Molenston and the Bohin both nations refused. Senator Nieliz stated that this is because foreign nations do not want Rezua settling matters for them, that if foreign nations cannot find a solution among themselves more misunderstandings will occur in the future. Following these believes, Senator Nieliz and the Blue Party called the Councils together to pass the bill of neutrality. Parliament's new declaration of neutrality comes with a final urge for a peaceful solution and a promised to help ease the tensions, should both nations request aid.

On the matter of Zilveren Berg's use of nuclear testing, parliament has asked all USA nations to approve of Resolution 118. This resolution calls for international condemnation of Zilveren Berg. The Rezuan Empire stands completely against their nuclear tests and their use of a nuclear device on a civilian population. The Councils of Parliament have condemned the slaughter that the government of Zilveren Berg carried out on its own people, stating that the purpose for a government is to defend its people.

Lastly, as the work week comes to a close, Election Week also draws to an end. Tonight, a new prime minister will be elected. It is uncertain if Blue Party candidate Penrod Hauer or Sword and Stars Candidate Ana Leonart will claim the victory. Hauer stands for more foreign aid, more spending in education, trade, welfare, and healthcare. Leonart stands for a "no-hands" approach to foreign aid, and supports increased spending in industry, trade, transportation, and defensive military forces. Currently, the new 315 members of the Councils of Parliament have no clear bias, but a hundred more will be elected tonight, along with the prime minster and Upper Council members. The empress has returned to oversee the election, but has not announced support for either side, despite having a Blue Party bias in the past.

In Other News
-The new/re-elected members of parliament will be taken into office on the first day of February.
-Naval assets recalled from the Bohi, leaving twenty-two warships to fight. Parliament states that this is no indication of a weakening of resolve, just a reevaluation of what is useful in this war.
-Smaller patrol boats from Kurzera head to the Bohin
-Princess Christina is expected to be chosen by parliament to become Chief Commander of the Air Force after the former chief's retirement this month.

Parliament Declares Support For Capsland

Imperial News

It has just been announced that parliament has come to a decision on if Rezua should support Capsland or the USRR in their recent conflict. After heavy consideration, parliament has decided to support Capsland, believing that Capsland is innocent of the blame of starting the war. For many years, Capsland has been a non-violent nation that has never supported hostile action a foreign nation let alone against a potential buyer in the Ventismarian Market. Capsland is not a militaristic nation and has nothing to gain by starting a war, since members of the VU pride themselves on peaceful solutions. If it were possible, parliament believes that Capsland would have agreed to a peaceful solution. Therefore, parliament has been led to believe that Capsland is facing such hostility against its people that it has no other choice but to defend them.

The formation of the USRR, and then a sudden incident concerning their military leaves many senators wary of this new alliance and its intent. The USRR is simply too unknown by parliament for them to overlook Capsland’s peaceful ways. Parliament has not pledged military assets to the conflict yet, instead it has offered humanitarian aid should the government of Capsland wish.

BREAKING:Chernomoretski jet buzzes Pantorran vessel

Tsezar demands Pantorrum withdraws fleet

Novorossiysk The Tsezar continues his aggressive stance on the current situation with Pantorrum today with a simple message: get out of the Centismar. The message came with the buzzing of a Pantorran vessel and an increase of Chernomoretski troops patrols within the city.

Tensions remain high between the two nations. The conflict began with the capture of several Pantorran trade vessels by the Chernomoretski Navy. After Novorossiysk declined Pantorrums request to release the ships, Pantorrum released an ultimatum- later withdrawn due to mounting international pressure from Kiez and Ophioneus. Now that Pantorrum seems to have wrapped things up with the two previously mentioned nations, many believe that a war is now likely.

Novorossiysk no longer has any remaining allies. The city state was originally allied to Rezua who broke the alliance following the capture of the Pantorran vessels. Kiez and Ophioneus have shown interest in the city state although whether or not they would become involved in a war between Pantorrum and Novorossiysk is unlikely. Novorossiysk does have many trade partners, though, and is one of the largest trade hubs in the world. As a result, a war between Pantorrum and Novorossiysk could damage the world economy, with potentially crippling results if enough of the city is affected. Nations like Rhodevus, Rezua, North Rukonia, and many other of Novorossiysk’s top trade partners would be the most heavily affected. Many of their partners would likely feel the shock as well.

In a time of war and tension, it doesn't seem unlikely at all for Pantorrum and Novorossiysk to go to war. The era we live in now is prone to conflict, as we have seen countless times, most recently between Capsland and the USRR. Although Pantorrum and Novorossiysk have been quiet, it seems now that the conflict will continue once again, and war will continue to loom over the Centismar.

We've been told to shut down

Montedoran News has been told to shut down by The Unitary Commission and Commission for The Press. They have asked us to stop publishing news articles and end TV broadcasting by the 22nd of January 2018. I, Jevkan Amani have been working at the company for twenty years and have never seen such a blatant move against the freedom of press and information in The Montedoran. The Union was created to avert these kind of moves, however it seems that the Unitary Commission for the Press have found a loophole and has asked us to shut down citing unbalanced news coverage and enticing violence. I'm stunned that the government has the awe to do this to the second largest news outlet in The Montedoran but this is not the end. Montedoran News has hired great lawyers and will be taking this to Unitary Court to overturn the decision, we are hopeful that this spat will be overturned and the truth will come out.

We want to let our viewers know that we will not be following the governments orders to stop publishing and broadcasting and will continue to do so after the set deadline. It will be up to the Commission for the Press on what they want to do and how they want to do it when the 22nd is over. Over the past few months the Press Commission have been ordering us to do this, to do that and to stop doing this and that. They were telling us to limit coverage of the independence issue, we didn't listen. They told us to stop covering UNP speeches, we didn't listen. We the MNN want to provide the best news for the people of The Montedoran and to follow what they were saying is blatant censorship of real issues here and we would never do it.

So far, the signs are good. The Unitary Court has allowed us to proceed through the legal system towards them and its likely that the decision will be overturned in only a month or so in time. What is odd, is that we don't know where this decision has came from. Soldurs Des has not said anything nor has the Unitary Commission. The Press Commission told us by letter and multiple calls but nothing from them on the official end to tell the public about why this has happened. Their attempts to cover it up will not go unnoticed and we will be back, to uncover the truth of the tyrannical Commission.

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “Sunrisia Would Militarily Aid Pantorrum Under MDAA

The Department of International Relations and the Department of Security have jointly confirmed that Sunrisia is committed to its mutual defense obligations under MDAA and would help Pantorrum, in case it gets attacked. These statements were in reference to the tensions between Pantorrum and Novorossiysk that had been brewing once more, with echoes of armed conflict on the Ventismarien continent in the air. Sunrisian Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan said that the goal is not to posture Sunrisia on the side of one of the potential belligerents in a hypothetical armed conflict and that Sunrisia currently holds no biases against Novorossiysk. Sunrisia’s objective would be to ensure Pantorrum’s security against any potential outside aggressor, no matter who or what it is. The strategic goal is to hopefully deter direct confrontation by giving an in-advance warning. At the same time, Minister Álienan said that what might put Sunrisia’s help for Pantorrum under question, is if Pantorrum attacked Novorossiysk first, whereas MDAA’s clause is defensive.

In other news:

  • Department of Security confirms that anti-terrorist operations by the Sunrisian special forces in Baggnagia and Uszwa are going well.

  • Spokesperson for the Fáustîtár administration says that nuclear test by Zilveren Berg might upgrade existing personal sanctions against government officials of Zilveren Berg, to sanctions against the state itself.

  • Sunrisian armament support for Daredland will end on January 31st, as per mutual agreement. The provision of military aid was originally launched during the hot phase of the war in Daredland.

  • PID agents say that the situation in Eikangaard is not transparent enough at the moment and needs more insight.

  • Department of International Relations has not given updates on whether the Sunrisian–Ophionite diplomatic engagement has been going anywhere and whether it will progress.

  • Should Sunrisian diplomats offer help in resolving the Montedoran issue in The Seven United?

Seven United Crushes Civil Liberties

The Seven United government has recently shut down an independent news outlet in Montedoran, a state which has been vying for independence for nearly a year. Due to recent turmoil in the country and abroad, the Seven United government has delayed any potential vote on the situation until all matters are resolved. No actual date has been confirmed yet. Even with the drawn-out promises made to the Montedoran people by their own government, the SU has been restricting the liberties of the people of the state. It seems, both for control and to withhold information. A tactic commonly used to keep dissenters from knowing how much support they truly have in a community. With extra police presence in the state and now with the shut down of independent media, the Seven United government is acting less like a force for democracy and peace and more like an oppressive regime trying to keep a hold on its empire.

The Ispanzan government has condemned the actions made by the Seven United and declared its support for the people of Montedoran whom have demanded a vote for independence at the very least. The Commission is obligated to speak publicly about why the MNN has been given a shut down notice. If and when their decision is overturned, it is the hope of all independent media sources that they come forward and explain their actions.

Preparations underway for the annual State of The Nation, Kiez Maintains its Defensive Pact with Novorossiysk, Richtofen Administration Condemns the Unitary Commission for their suppression of the Press
Activity inside of the Reichstag has seen a substantial increase during the early hours of this morning. This comes ten days before the annual State of The Nation, in which the Premier is obligated to give a report on the current state of the Communist Reich, as well as outlining his plan for the year of 2018. While many are unsure of which direction that Premier Richtofen will be going for the year of 2018, one thing is certain: this State of The Nation is going to be unlike any other, with the Premier himself inviting officials around the world to witness this important event. "It is important to leave the events of this country open for all of the world to see." the Premier's spokesperson stated to members of the press within the Reichstag. "Not only is this a show of solidarity from officials within the Federal Government, but it is also a show that we harbor no fears of criticism, rather we as a people welcome the questions that our fellow neighbors provide to not only our Premier, but to also our National Government."

Following increasing reports of tension in the Centismar Sea and the subsequent buzzing of a Pantorran Vessel by a Chernomoretski Jet, the Richtofen Administration has reassured their Novorossiysk allies that the recently signed defensive pact with the small nation will be upheld. "We cannot, in good conscience sit by and watch smaller nations be bullied into submission by the likes of the Republic of Pantorrum." The Premier stated early this morning "While we do not approve of the Tsezar's methods of trying to push away the Pantorrans from their country, allow me to make this clear: Kiez will never abandon its allies, and we shall be there for the people of Novorossiysk when they need it most." In the most recent report, Kiez military units that were dispatched to the country arrived on January 15th and began preparing for the potential conflict by beginning collaboration efforts with the City-State's defense forces in response to the presence of the Pantorran Navy's battle group in the Centismar Sea.

Hours ago, a report came from the Montedoran News stating that they were ordered to shut down by the Unitary Commission of the Seven United, as well as their Commission for The Press. While Reichstag officials have yet to comment on this particular issue, the Premier made a brief statement in regards to this violation of not only the freedoms of the Press, but also of the flow of Information in the nation of the Seven United. "For a nation, much less one located on the continent of Corentia to suppress the flow of information that its media outlets report to their people is not only an appalling move that goes against the interests of their people, but could also serve to be politically motivated by the Unitary Commission's ruling administration. This should not be allowed to go on without other nations stepping up and condemning this act, we need to come together on this issue and tell this Unitary Commission that we will not stand for such an act that goes against the interests of their people and advise them of the potential consequences to come in response to this blatant censorship."

In Other News:
- Federal Government condemns the nation of Zilveren Berg & their Supreme Leader, claims that the nation's actions will contribute to a degradation of global stability.
- Richtofen Administration stresses "Moderation and Cooperation", encourages dialogue between the USRR and Capsland.

Novorossiysk Buzzes Cruiser

Yesterday, the Novorossiysk Air Force buzzed a Ticonderoga Cruiser in international waters. The vessel buzzed was in the process of conducting anti-drug operations, and was on a mission to intercepted a small freighter expected of transporting drugs into northern Pantorrum. The vessel was forced to terminate its mission and switch its focus to a low altitude, high speed aircraft that refused to respond to communication attempts made by the ships crew. The fighter was deemed an immediate threat to the vessel, and the ships crew were ordered to battle stations. It did not take long for the vessels crew to realize that the incoming fighter was of Novorossiysk origin, a Dassault Rafale C. The advanced, multirole fighter craft did not change its course, lowering altitude on a direct heading for the ships starboard side. The ships commanding officer, Commander Neil Gorsuch, is entirely responsible for avoiding war. He made the decision to take the risk, and not fire on the unresponsive fighter. His gamble paid off, as the fighter simply buzzed the ship without any weapons fire.

The close call was one of many in recent months, with tensions on the rise between us and the City of Novorossiysk. The recent advancement of the city states aggression was unexpected, with the recent withdrawal of their allies and the obvious order of power in the sea. The bold move has called into question whether or not we have a response. Since the beginning of the crisis, the Defense Department has formulated the Novorossiysk Plan. It is an official policy for dealing with the aggressive city state, that grows bolder and more daring with each passing day. The policy is classified, but the Secretary of Defense has assured the media and the Pantorran people that a plan is in place for a response to a hypothetical attack on a Pantorran military unit. He also said that the plan contains preparation orders for a possible preemptive military strike, should they believe that the city of Novorossiysk is planning for war.

The buzzing greatly disrupted anti-drug operations, with the drug smuggling vessel escaping from the militaries grasps. With the Cruiser to far out of range, and no other naval vessels close enough to intercept in time, the drug freighter likely delivered its cargo of narcotics to our northern region. The Secretary of Homeland Security spoke on the matter earlier today.

"These ridiculous, aggressive actions are beginning to have consequences on our national security. These petty displays have hindered our militaries capability to intercept and prevent drug smuggling activities in the Centismar. Novorossiysk is getting in the way of police operations in the sea, and this ranges from drug smuggling to the illegal weapons trade, and even anti-piracy operations. Because of the distraction they've created for our forces, the FIA and NIB estimate the crime in the sea is up 19% in the last quarter. As much as they don't want to face the facts, our navy is the largest and strongest in the sea. And without our contributions to anti-crime operations, these illegal miscreants will continue to spread their operations. Examples like the one seen today serve not to intimidate or frighten us. They serve only to further the interests of the criminal under world. I call on the leadership of the City of Novorossiysk to end its aggressive posture, for the good of justice and anti-criminal operations. I ask them to no longer serve the interests of drug dealers, terrorists, and murderers. We cannot fight crime and keep a watchful eye on your aggression without drawing attention from one or the other."

The Secretary's concerns were echoed this morning by the Vice President, who called the states escalation of a conflict "dangerous" and "extraordinarily reckless." The brewing war has been silent for well over a month until this most recent escalation. The city continues to hold over a hundred Pantorrans prisoner after the seized the assets of a private company last year. The State Department confirmed that they've refused 19 attempts at diplomatic outreaches by our Governemnt, refusing to release prisoners. The Vice President did express a willingness to compromise in the conflict.

"There is wrong on both sides of this conflict. It was wrong of us to violate your airspace and buzz your vessels. It was wrong of you to violate our airspace, to seize our vessels and people, and to buzz our vessels. As such, in the interests of peace, I once again call on the City of Novorossiysk to sit down in a neutral location and discuss and end to this conflict before it begins. We are willing to pay reparations for the fighter craft we shot down when you violated our airspace, and in return we demand the release of our people, vessels, and cargo."

Many nations around the world have called upon us to release the Manifest of the captured vessels, with the Department of Commerce did earlier today. The Manifest was thoroughly reviewed by many in the media and was published online for easy viewing. To save you the time, we've compiled a short list. Below is a short summary of the cargo the convoy was transporting.
    -17 Tons of Canned Goods
    -23 Tons of Corn
    -15 Tons of Rice
    -12 Tons of Grain
    -7 Tons of Fruit
    -19 Tons of Fish
    -16 Tons of Beef
    -9 Tons of Consumer Goods
In total, the 3 vessels were carrying 119 Tons of Foodstuff and 9 Tons of Consumer Goods. With the current length of their containment, the Department of Commerce says they expect most of the food to be either expired or consumed by the Novorossiysk. They are, however, demanding the return of all canned goods and consumer goods.

Uszwa Agrees to Rental Deal on Thanatos Airbase

With the end of our active involvement in the Bohin on the horizon, the Defense Department began trying to secure a very special deal. Thanatos Airbase was granted to us only for the duration of the war, meaning that we would eventually have to leave the Airbase and return it to Uszwa. This was averted yesterday evening, when the Defense Department secured a deal with the Uszwa Government. In exchange for 200 million annually, the Uszwa Government will allow us to continue operating from Thanatos Airbase.

The major deal still has to be approved by Congress, who would need to appropriate the funding for the rental arrangement. It is widely expected that the appropriation will pass the House and Senate, despite some Liberal Democrat opposition in both chambers. When the funds are appropriated, we will have expanded our reach to southern Ziamban. Thanatos Airbase will allow for the air force to assist in operations in Ziamban, and expand our militaries operation capacity to counter terrorist influences in the region.

Calvan Government treat Zilveren Berg second detonation as ignoring the final warning and bring calva to Defcon 2

Image

Today after the test detonation of a nuclear device by the nation of Zilveren Berg two days ago The primister of Calva has given the order to move calva into a ready state of Defcon 2 to launch its biological and chemical warheads at the rouge state of Zilveren Berg. Priminister Göransson said that "It seems that the warnings given by Calva and other nations have fallen on the deaf ears of the government of Zilveren Berg and therefore their government is now classed as a danger to civilization and action are needed to be taken as words seem to not speak loud enough. With this in mind, I have ordered our troops and silos to be ready for if we should need to launch an offensive against Zilveren Berg but hopefully, this should be enough of a final warning to wake them up to the fact of their efforts to proliferate nuclear devices will only bring their reputation in into disrepute as well as endangering world peace.

OP-ED: Support for our comrades in the Seven United

Libra
This week it was announced, much to the dismay of myself, this News Syndicate, and indeed workers of the press around Corentia and the world, that one of the premier News sources out of the Seven United was being shut down by the government. This announcement, is concerning for numerous reasons, firstly and perhaps foremost, the suppression of press freedoms, breeds un-free, and unfair societies, and indeed helps set the stage for fascists to takeover. Secondly, as a Past visitor to The Seven United, and having people in their journalistic industry that I would consider friends and comrades, this move leaves me fearing for their futures, and welfare. There is hope however, the MNN is challenging, the order through the countries court system. I am hoping that the sudden dark turn the Commission in The Seven United has taken can make a turn around with the workers of the MNN fighting back. We cannot let them do it by themselves however, they will need the support of their colleges nationally and Internationally, to help sway the forces at work here. So I encourage my comrades in the Journalistic Industries here in Librira, and abroad, as well as any Freedom-loving Person, to give your support to MNN however you can manage, be in donations, writing to your government, whatever you can manage. We cannot let the dark cloaks of Fascism cover the eyes of the people by destroying the Press!

Libriran Government backs Novorossiysk.

Libra
In a statement today before the People's Congression, Pavel Ivanovich Subanov, Representative of Nieper, flanked by other representatives from Bereg, Reka, and Libra, Spoke on how Librira should back countries who try to defend themselves from larger imperialist powers, calling it "our duty to our revolutionary forefathers". The Speech was praised by the SSL, as being a 'shining example of those taking the fight to the Imperialists', whereas the KL called it a speech 'rife with inflammatory language just to get a rise out of the Congression'. Whatever the case, after his short speech Representative Subanov, brought a resolution before the People's Congression, the resolution called for the Government to vocally support Novorossyisk in their fight against the 'imperialists of the Centismar Pantorrum'. The resolution passed 178-27, The Premier is expected to speak later this week to 'affect the resolution'. Its unknown if this will set a precedence for supporting Novorossyisk with military support, or to what extent should a war break out; though Represenative Subanov mentioned, that if it came to it, putting forward another resolution to that affect was a possibility. As a closing remark to the vote Represenative Subanov said; "The People and Government of Librira stand united in supporting our comrades, even in Vestimar" Snap polls after the resolution indicate a majority of Librirans, even some members of the KL support helping Novorossyisk, saying "we can't just let Pantorrum bully them around". Across the International community support and condemnation have poured to the two countries, with most hoping that a another war is avoided if possible.

Federal and local police in Selduvye

Selduvye- Early this morning, federal and local police arrived at the house of Suljo Basic. At noon a few shots were fired from the house's second floor and first floors. Suljo is confirmed to a part of a Yosijan nationalist organization, an Islamic terror organization, and an organization called Nema Pravila, a Chemensian anarchy-centered group. This house is believed to be occupied by members of Nema Pravila and to be one of their local hubs. So far the police have planned on organization a raid, however, it is unknown whether or not civilians are inside. The NIB has been trying to make contact with the house's occupants. PAPER OF ZARAN
Military fires warning shots at Dirkhiz naval vessel
Image

Today a Dirkhiz Naval Frigate headed to Chemensia came very close to a small Zarani Naval Vessel and our navy fired shots to warn the ship to turn away, this took place between the Umbrellyan Óskka Archipelago and Zarani shoreline. The vessel did not stop moving towards our ship for 3 minutes. The ship later started to turn back away, the Dirkhiz navy says the ship's systems were not working and they did could not turn the ship around until they could fix their systems, they did not name which systems were broken that caused them to not turn. The Zarani government says the Dirkhiz Navy is trying to act aggressive and imperialist and make Zaran angry and try and push Zaran to give the Jewish western regions independence. The Dirkhiz government is currently denying that they are trying to be aggressive but says Zaran are the ones being aggressive.

Chancellery proposes future summit in Daredland with Western Corentian nations and other partners

Image

Chancellor Calvin Aigner has addressed the State Council with the proposal from the Chancellery to engage Western Corentian or other potential partners of Daredland more actively. He cited political, economic and military reasons for such a move. For the near future the Chancellor has offered to host a Daredland–West Corentia summit in the Daredi capital or anywhere else convenient to bring about economic integration or at least closer economic ties. It was a proposition by Aigner from a while back. The Chancellor focused on Western Corentia, but he was also open to an economic summit with more global partners. It includes Nordstramus with whom Daredland has just established diplomatic ties. On this list are other nations that Daredland could have an equal and productive partnership with.

“I have talked about a common market inside Corentia or at least Western Corentia some time ago. That sounds like a good idea to me and we should discuss it with others. It doesn’t have to include all nations in Corentia, just the interested ones. Or if we do not want to go the globalist route, we could work on many individual treaties with many nations. It doesn’t need to be an integration entirely. For geographic reasons, a common market could work in Western Corentia or more of Corentia, while individual deals could work with partners around the world. Within Corentia, Daredland could join WECOFTA or establish individual agreements with each state separately. Maybe a larger Corentian common market might sound attractive to some nations. We do not need to restrict ourselves just to our neighborhood either. We should be an open society and engage the whole world, which is why it shouldn’t necessarily just be a Daredland–Western Corentia summit, but a Daredland–World summit. Daredland is in economically tough times right now. We are not quite in a recession, but we are balancing close to it. We need to exchange investments with our region and the world. We cannot live just on Sunrisian economic support and loans. We need to get out of this pit and restart economic growth. We do not need to attach ourselves economically to anyone either. What we need is partnerships on equal grounds.”

In the same speech Chancellor Aigner also suggested to organize a special Daredland–MDAA summit or have Daredi officials attend one of MDAA’s own summits. The Chancellor has said that MDAA finally needs to be engaged more actively so that Daredland could fully integrate. “We have an observer status and a special outside partner status, but our goal is to join MDAA in the near future. Our officials should hold talks with the MDAA bloc itself to finally get this going. Hopefully, if we were to hold two-sided summits or attend MDAA summit, at one of these events Daredland could achieve an associate membership like Smoya or maybe even be offered full membership. After foreign aggression against our country, we know that this path is for Daredland to take.” The State Council was divided on the proposal. Some supported the Chancellor’s idea, others said that Daredland needs to resolve the Weniges Reich issue before it could make any other military-related plans.

Memebers Of The Press In Belantica Unhappy With the Unitary Commission, Queen Karen Hints At Opening Up To Ophion
Earlier, the Unitary Commission in the Seven United has ordered the independent news agency Montedoran News Network (MNN) to cease reporting and publishing by the 22nd of this month. Many nations and media outlets around the world are criticizing the decision made by the Unitary Commission as a clear breach of free speech and press. Such opinions hold true for many of us working in the press in Belantica, knowing what it's like to have to go silent, and that the Southern Free Press Alliance (FSPA), a union comprised of many reporters, photographers, and journalists, has decided to come forward and make a statement on the issue regarding MNN. SFPA Chairman and editor for the Fairton Tribune Charles Waverley made the following statement earlier today, "Base on what I and several other members of this journalist union noticed going on in the Seven United is from our perspective, an issue regarding free speech and press over Monterdoran. The Unitary Commission, the main governing body of the nation, is using its powers to silence any opposing views, in which they will label it "biased" media in order to have it removed. While MNN may advocate on the side of Montedoran rather than the central government, we also believe the S7NN, the main news agency in the Seven United, is biased in its own way. We here at this union believe that the central government is abusing their power, and we send for best wishes to our fellow members of the press working for the MNN keeping the lights on and resisting unfair treatment by the government, and we hope that their case is favored in the courts. While the Unitary Commission may have reasoning behind their actions, we still feel it is unjust, and hopefully, it listens to what others are saying around the world and overturns their own decision. For those who wish to get out and demonstrate, we ask to be civil about it as peace is how this can be resolved." Outside of the Seven United embassy in Center City, there was a silent protest of several individuals who "censored" their mouths with electrical tape, only to take it off to eat and drink.

In other news, Queen Karen today announced that she is now actively making intentions to better relations between the Ophion Federation and Belantica. This was spoken of during a short press conference she organized that day. Not only did the Queen talk about engaging in talks with the Ophion Federation, but also issues at home and in Corentia. " Today, I am starting the process to begin establishing new relations with the Ophion Federation." she begun, " for many decades prior, the relations between Belantica and the former Soviet states was almost nonexistent, even if Belantica was technically considered part of the "west" due to extensive trade with western nations at the time, and for having a more capitalist economic system. I believe that now, with a clean slate between both of our new governments, is the time for both nations to begin building a positive and beneficial relationship with one another. In these times when peace is considered fragile and tensions are rising in Ventismar, it is important to work together to maintain what little peace is there and to make any attempts to expand said peace. Opening up to the Ophion Federation is a way for us to help contribute to a more peaceful and friendlier world, where working together will solve more problems than working on our own. While I will focus my efforts to strengthen ties with Ophion and several Ventismar nations, Corentia is still not out of my view, and I would say that I do not like what I have read in the news about recent actions taken by certain Corentian nations, however I am in no place to dictate legislation in foreign lands. Even if Belantica does have disagreements with a few Corentians nations on certain issues, there is still room to use diplomacy to find a solution or at least a compromise." It was said she was referencing the current hap[penings in the Seven United, however for reasons unknown to us, she chose to be very selective in her words. It is assumed that she will be making the arrangements to visit Jamestown sometime within the next few weeks. It also is believed that improving ties with Kiez is also on her majesty's agenda.

Old Rivals Talking Again: Sunrisia–Ophioneus Diplomatic Exchange

Image

Sunrisian Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan has once again admitted that there had been diplomatic exchanges between Sunrisia and Ophioneus through different channels, but the Minister suggested not to put much emphasis on it since it is not even clear whether some breakthrough would be reached. Minister Álienan still does not specify what the countries had been talking about, but he has emphasized that both sides still have a lot of differences to resolve and that should be the main focus:

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “With the former USJR, Sunrisia always had an entire list of issues that had put Aestin and Jamestown in a stand-off/confrontation. Today, with Ophioneus, that list has been reduced to a handful, but problems still remain. Our primary difference now, is over Azovskaya. Our government remains firm in rejecting the results of the illegal armed coup in Azovskaya, which removed an elected government and installed a military dictatorship that surrendered Azovskayan sovereignty to Ophioneus. We do not recognize the legality of a referendum that led to such a decision, because there were no proper conditions for it. Konetya was the only territory that got away from being annexed into Ophioneus along with the rest of Azovskaya, but as we know, the fate of that territory is not clear now either.

Journalist: “While we are on the topic of Konetya, has its independence been put into question once more or is it all just fearmongering?

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “Konetya de facto exists as a protectorate of Pantorrum, though it has elements of a sovereign state in other areas. Interestingly enough, Pantorrum seems to be diplomatically engaging Ophioneus the same way we are, most likely even more. Konetya might become the subject of some two-sided agreement. Hopefully, Pantorrum will not abandon the Konetyan people in exchange for agreements with Ophioneus.

Journalist: “But if we hypothetically assume that they do, what would be our response? Would Sunrisia take Konetya under its protection?

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “It is not for us to decide that alone, but we will definitely not rule that option out. Our stance on Konetya remains the same. Konetyans must finally show to the world what future they want. Independence, part of Azovskaya, part of Ophioneus, protectorate of Pantorrum or something else. An ideal option would be a USA-mandated referendum. But in the present situation, this can only be found out if the territory is kept from being absorbed by an outside power.

Journalist: “Getting back to relations with Ophioneus, where is that going, Minister? Is Ophioneus not the USJR anymore or did they just change their name and their flag, but remain the same underneath?

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “Very hard to say right now. Let’s not be afraid to admit that the former USJR was our enemy, at best case scenario a rival. We constantly clashed on many global issues and probably the darkest moment was when USJR backed one of the two sides in our quasi-civil war – South Sunrisia. To us, USJR was not only one of our opponents, but practically one of our conquerors from the Eastern side, during that unpleasant time. Even after the Sunrisian reunification, our tensions still remained and the USJR always created obstacles for us. They were in our way, even when Sunrisia tried to use the USA for diplomacy and as a legitimate peacekeeping force that would put out the flames of the world’s crises. But today, the USJR is no more. There’s Ophioneus. As you have already mentioned – different name and different flag, but there is also a different government and a different constitution. That must be taken into account.

Journalist: “But does that really matter though? The foreign policy seems to echo USJR’s and President Mortimer’s.

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “It does matter, because it is a different country. Ophioneus is not the USJR. Same way how the Kingdom of Sunrisia, the Democratic Union of Sunrisia, the Second Republic of Sunrisia, North Sunrisia, South Sunrisia – all different countries. They might have existed on the territory of modern-day Sunrisia, but they are still different sovereign states. Same situation with Ophioneus. As for the foreign policy, it is different, very much so. It is much less aggressive and not as active. Apart from certain darker aspects from the Soviet days, Ophioneus seems to now be focusing on its own development and building fresh relations with the world. We must hold Ophioneus as a different country as well, not as the USJR, which means that our relations can be started with a clean slate. At the same time, I wouldn’t hold my breath for anything.

Journalist: “Does that vacant anything the USJR has done and Ophioneus is set free?

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “No, but it will be our own choice and the choice of others on whether to hold grudges.

Journalist: “In case there still is some USJR left in Ophioneus, how would Sunrisia interact with them? Do you think the previous Sunrisian leaderships throughout history have been effective or would you suggest to do anything differently?

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “Many of our previous leaders, Presidents and cabinets have done many great things and I have my upmost respect to them. But when it came to the USJR, most of them have been very ineffective. Because there was always avoidance to make enemies with the USJR, there was a policy of appeasement from the Sunrisian side or wishes to somehow come to a compromise, while the other side kept strategically planning out its moves. That kind of weakness cannot exist within the future Sunrisian administrations. If we manage to wipe a clean slate with Ophioneus, negate the past and start over with them as a different country from the USJR and us as a different country from our previous incarnations, that would be great. But, if there is some USJR still left in Ophioneus, then Sunrisia must confront them tougher than we had in the past. Peace through strength will be the policy of President Nóv Fáustîtár.

Journalist: “Thank you for your time, Minister.

Minister Ectrăr Álienan: “Definitely. Thank you for this talk.

In other news:

  • Convet members criticize President Nóv Fáustîtár and his administration for not addressing the situation with the media in The Seven United.

  • Speaker of the Convet: “MDAA was founded as an alliance of free, democratic and prosperous nations and it must not turn away from this foundation. MDAA allies should not be blatantly criticized or insulted, but they must be addressed on the democratic deficit problems. There can be a reasonable solution.

"KING IBRAHIM DIES, GRANDSON TO SUCCEED HIM"

It has been confirmed that King Ibrahim II has died from a fatal heart attack today. The King was 78. The Crown Prince, studying abroad, has been recalled to Qaswan."

Qaswan "will not participate" in Sunalayavision 2018

On 11 January 1963 the 24 year old Crown Prince Ibrahim succeeded his father to become the longest reigning monarch in recent Qaswani history. For 55 years Ibrahim has been considered the pillar that has guided Qaswan through times of difficulty and change, and the rock that the nation has stood upon.

His death was officially announced at 7:48 this morning. Imediately after his death rumours began to circulate online that Yezriyan Jews had poisoned him, however a second statement released at 11:00 AM this morning denied this stating the King had died a natural death due to a heart attack.

Crown Prince Sa'id, the grandson of King Ibrahim, was currently studying abroad in Borlange, Cill Airne. He is on his way back to the Twin Cities, the name for the Capital Area Administrative Region (CAAR).

Under Qaswani law, a member of the royal family cannot become King while not in the nation. However the moment he steps onto Qaswani soil he will become King Sa'id III. He is expected to arrive in the early hours of the morning.

Crown Prince Sa'id's father, Prince Omar, died in 2008 during the protests known as the Ihihtiyaj protests which lasted from June to August of that year. While driving from his apartment in Al Fawdar city, one of the two cities in the Twin Cities, to the Royal Palace in Abu Qishtul, the other city in the Twin Cities, his car was over ran by protesters. He was dragged out and beaten to death.

Prince Sa'id is known to be young and energetic. Known for being charitable and knowledgable, many expect him to usher in change to the nation. He has said many times the nation is in need for dire reforms, especially in international diplomacy and trade.

A key founder of the "Change for Tomorrow Party" - although political parties do not technically exist, Qaswan is an absolute monarchy - Prince Sa'id is the first Royal to be educated abroad, remarking that he begged his parents to allow him to study in Cill Airne. He is known to look up to figures such as Åke Ahlander, leader of the Communist revolution in Cill Airne, Art Seosamh Ó Gríobhtha, leader of the Communist revolution of Ros Cre, and Ayman Qadir who led the Communist Revolt in 1923 in Qaswan before being defeated by his own ancestor.

This has led many to worry that Qaswan is a powder keg, and he is the fuse to lite it. The nation is already severely divided into traditionalist, of which the absolute monarchy has belonged to, secularists and democratists, communists, and sepratists in the south. Some fear that with the King being radically different from his grandfather he will change the nation too quickly causing an explosion leading to long-lasting consequences. Others, however, fear just by him sitting on the thrown the fuse has been lit.

Inspite of this, however, he has promised he will make no radical changes to the nation. Instead he has promised "change for tomorrow" - just as his party has promised since 2013 when he and his friends established it. The party has promoted gradual changes that will then promote more changes that promote more changes.

Some argue, however, any changes are too radical in a land where God has decreed absolute rule of the King. Whether any change will succeed remains to be seen.

Long reign the King.

Zilveren News Prompt

Supreme Leader unphased by international backlash, calls Priminister Göransson a "Dotard"; Announces fallout 'Colony Cleansing" regime'

Supreme Leader Rhul Gorm, blessed be, remains "unphased" by international threats and sanctions, describing the bleak Calvan authoritarian Priminister Göransson as a "dotard and a hypocrite", assuring the glorious lands of Zilveren Berg to remain at peace as normal. We, the people, know that all that he does is in the interest of the collective.

The Supreme Leader's High Commander released a statement today, explaining that "the threats of Calva - and the international community alike - are nothing but empty. An attack using WMDs on us would be an attack on Corentia, and would have unbounded effects on nations other than Zilveren Berg". The Commander further stated that the Calvan government is making reckless statements, being hypocrites for threatening attacks on foreign soil with WMDs. "Our tests are on our soil; thus, indirectly a demonstration of sovereignty and power. However, we have not endangered nor threatened the lives of our foreign neighbours. Their reckless acts would lead to mutually assured destruction." Although, it appears the "peacekeepers" of the world only push for war. Bullies they are, but redemption and security is what we will find through the Supreme Leader.

In other news, the Supreme Leader has announced the commencing of the fallout cleanup. In order to mitigate the effects of recent nuclear tests on the lands of Zilveren Berg, an order has been set out to establish the "Colonies". Basic towns and small funds will be allocated to the construction and maintenance of the Colonies, where fugitives, rebels, and other volunteers will be sent to live out the rest of their lives cleaning to land. This is positive, functioning as redemption for the apprehended dissidents, as they will be sent to clean any and all ecotoxicity, as well as environmental preservation of the beauty of Zilveren Berg and the protection of our citizens from outlaws. Many jails have been emptied, and notifications have been sent to Volunteers - to be picked up by government officials at random - and granted vast honour by the Supreme Leader for their compliance. This is a Non-Negotiable Law.

Chancellor Calvin Aigner answers questions on economic direction

Image

The media had a chance to ask Chancellor Calvin Aigner about Daredland’s economic situation and the direction in which it is heading. The questions were asked at a recent press conference that the Chancellor had with the journalists. Aigner said that Daredland has been effectively avoiding recession with the help of government’s actions and thanks to the foreign economic assistance from Sunrisia. The Chancellor reassured that the economy is stabilized, but that Daredland should aim for higher than just stability. The government’s mission is to achieve growth once more and that is what the Daredi government aims to do. Chancellor Aigner laid out some options of economic development that the government is considering, some new, some old. “The option that we had recently been looking more at, was for Daredland to join WECOFTA, an existing free trade area of Western Corentian nations. That proposition was put forward by our Chancellery. The State Council had mixed reactions. Some were for, while others weren’t enthusiastic about attaching Daredland directly to foreign economies and adapting to standards set forth by others. As an alternative, we had proposed at least a very special deal between Daredland and WECOFTA. The State Council supported the second option with more unanimity. Other options are the ones that we had talked about just now, when I addressed the State Council. Larger common market in Corentia or individual treaties with Corentian and other countries around the world. Both options are on the table. We might try to balance between all of them for now and it might work.”

THE SECRETS OF SKÖVDE
"MASS GRAVE DISCOVERED IN CHARMING COUNTRY VILLAGE"

Image

Skövde, Cill Airne - Skövde. When many Cill Airiochin's think of this little village, with a population of 678, images of the idyllic countryside spring to mind. The beautiful village is surrounded by small lakes and evergreen forests and is nestled into Cill Airne's southern mountains. Once just a small village in recent years the village has grown as many make it a holiday destination due to its famous beauty. The village receives a large influx of visitors during the summer months who come to visit on holiday.

Last summer, plans to construct a new spa were approved by the local planning commission. Construction on the car park began last week, but came to a grinding halt yesterday morning as a mass grave was dug up containing the bodies of 23 people in total. Workers immediately phoned local police who investigated. Ms. Eleonora Lundquist who lead the brief investigation stated she was shocked by the discovery, believing they had found the location of a serial killer, but quickly realised this was not the case. Once they realised the grave was old local archaeologists from a nearby museum were brought in. "We were able to date the grave to around 1875," said Mikael Sparv, one of the archaeologists on the team.

Out of the 23 bodies recovered, 16 were adults adults and the rest were children, the youngest about 8 months old. The question became who these people were, and why they were denied a burial in the village cemetery. "They were not quickly buried, many belongings were buried with them. This was deliberate, and most of the town would have known about it" Sparv said. The team believes that the bodies belong to the Jews who lived in the town at the time.

At the time Cill Airne was undergoing a major famine and many blamed the Jews for crop failure. Around 7 Jews across the country were reported dead in major cities in 1875. However, in 1876 the Local Magistrate to the King reported that "the Jews of Skövde had moved illegally [it was required for Jews to apply to move at this time] from there and their whereabouts were unknown." The team of archaeologists believe that the number of dead they found matches the number of Jews that would have lived in the area at the time, and because of the belongings found with them, including several pieces of Jewish clothing, it is likely they were murdered by the town before being buried in the mass grave.

Reality Check: Assessing the threat to the North

THE CAPITOL - the President led calls today for Amestrris, along with other foreign ministers, to enact more strict sanctions against Zilveren Berg in wake of last weeks nuclear tests. Despite extensions for peace talks, Amestrris has been met with ignorance. The demands followed a day of closed-door discussions in which foreign and national ministers, as well as senior diplomats, strategized methods to end Zilveren Berg's nuclear ambitions and force them back to the negotiating table in conjunction with international law. "Diplomacy is the preferred option," stated the President, "however, we cannot negotiate with a brick wall". He further promised that "a Zilveren Berg that commits to the complete, verifiable, and reversible dismantling of its nuclear weapons program will have a secure place in the international community".

This meeting has become especially relevant in wake of Zilveren Berg's establishment of "Colonies" - these horrifying atrocities are clearly toxic work camps under the guise of "environmental protection". This enactment has been deemed a humanitarian issue, and Amestrris pleads with the international community to increase pressure on the rogue nation. It is disgusting that this nation would establish such "towns" immediately after committing genocide on its own people. Has the world turned a blind eye to their vaporization of their own citizens?

Alas, intercontinental threats seem to loom. Calva, in retaliation to Zilveren Berg's nuclear proliferation, has threatened use of their own WMDs. The nation has urged Calva to take less reckless measures. Amestrris borders Zilveren Berg - thus, WMDs would have effects both for us, and the rest of Corentia, and is discouraged. Although, Calva is welcome to cooperate with less destructive measures of dealing with the nuclear and humanitarian threat to the North.

"Our message is clear," concluded President Odama. "The pursuit of nuclearization will bring you neither security nor prosperity. Investing in nuclear weapons will lead only to more sanctions and to increased instability on beautiful Corentia."

Mass Grave Uncovered in Cill Airne

In the early hours of the morning Crown Prince Sa'id arrived from Cill Airne, officially succeeding his grandfather as King of Qaswan. His arrival to the Kingdom however was not marked with celebration.

As his plane landed in Abu Qishtul International Airport reports of unknown men in the area came in to the Mukhabara, the Nation's Secret Police agency. In spite of this, Crown Prince Sa'id chose to step off of the plane, and once he did he became the King.

This decision, the Mukhabara stated, saved his life. As moments later a bomb went off near his plane. The king was taken to hospital for a few injuries but is expected to survive.

Several men were arrested by the Mukhabara in the area and were taken in for questioning. Their identities have not yet been released and if they are connected to the attempted assassination remains unknown at this time.

The King has stated that he remains "unphased by this act of barbarity" and that they will not intimate him. "my plans for a better future for all Qaswani people will not be stopped by an assassin or an army of assassins."

Despite making his statement from the hospital, and the doctors refusing to release the king until 10 AM, the King has ordered his first meeting of Cabinet at 8 AM this morning, in a few hours.

This breaks with tradition, where the first cabinet meeting is held in the Royal Palace, all other cabinet meetings are held in the Palace of the People. The King stated, however, "I am here, and the Nation does not wait."

BREAKING: Novorossiysk Fighter Slams into Destroyer
Today, a Novorossiysk fighter continued the nations routine aggression. Except this time, Pantorrans paid for it with their lives. In what has become a routine occurrence, a Novorossiysk F-15 made an attempt at buzzing a Pantorran Vessel stationed in international waters. The aggressive display started off fine, with the supersonic jet dropping altitude to 60 feet, which would normally take it just over the aft section of the vessel. Except this time the jet was going way faster than usual. And this time, the plane didn't just pass over.

The F-15 slammed into the side of the Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer, resulting in a massive explosion that nearly reached a munitions compartment. Fortunately it didn't, and the entire vessel wasn't destroyed. But regardless, 17 Pantorran Sailors were injured and 9 killed in the strike. The sea was stained red in the blood of Pantorrans, so that the City State could pursue its agenda of hate and aggression. The President was unavailable in the crisis, leaving the Vice President to respond.

"This death and crippling of our vessel is unforgiveable. Our servicemen lost their lives because of Novorossiysk aggression and escalation of a conflict we have been tirelessly trying to avoid. The President is unavailable to speak at the moment, but I assure you that he will not respond kindly. We are the victim of multiple, repeated violations of our sovereignty. First they take our people prisoner, and now they murder them in cold blood in waters where we had every right to be. We demand that the City of Novorossiysk pay for the 240 million dollar repair bill, and for reparations to the injured sailors and the families of those they killed today. I will address a joint session of Congress tomorrow, and I will propose to the full chamber that immediate sanctions and embargo be placed on the city. I call upon our allies to stand against these violations of international law with us, and to help deter the city from capturing more our people and killing more of our sailors. If you are our ally, if you have any regard for international law, you will stand against Novorossiysk and seek justice for the innocent people affected by the power grabbing and greed of this city state."

The Defense Department stepped up patrols in the sea, issuing a no fly zone and requesting vessels to identify with the Department of Commerce before entering the Centismar Corridor. The Northern Air Wing has been put on high alert, and naval vessels have received orders to fire on any aircraft that doesn't respond to communication attempts and continues on a low altitude course for their vessel. The 2nd Carrier Task Force is preparing for deployment to the Centismar to reinforce the Amphibious Group stationed in international waters, stepping up our power projection across the sea.

The word "war" hasn't been uttered by any member of the government yet, but many analysts expect that the President will consider it seriously when he hears what has happened. Until he becomes available, we won't know. So in other words, keep an ear open for tomorrows press conference to find out whether or not the City of Novorossiysk sealed its fate with this act.

Victory for the Airforce
In a more positive light, the Air Force obtained a significant victory in the Bohin today. General Bradley led a massive offensive against 3 enemy facilities, with the Defense Department estimating that over 1,100 casualties were inflicted. The massive assault practically doubled, over night, the number of casualties we've inflicted on the Bohin. The total casualty count, as estimated by the Secretary of the Air Force, is now 2,300, and maybe as many as 5,000 injured in the last 3 months. The immense success of the air campaign was marked by loss, as well. 11 Pilots were killed in todays offensive, each of them leaving behind a wife and children at home. They were shot down by Bohin Air Defenses as their F-16's made way toward their targets. The pilots were all professional airmen, having served for at least 6 years in the Air Force.

13 fighter craft were lost in total, with two men stranded in the deserts of the Bohin. The Air Force confirmed that they have coordinates of the downed pilots and are mounting an emergency evacuation. Pave Hawk Helicopters are expected to depart early tomorrow morning to extract the air men and bring them back to safety, likely ending their tour in Ziamban and sending them home to their families. The lucky 8 F-16 pilots who survived were scared at the loss of their friends, and the entire military and nation share their pain. Great servicemen died in the line of duty today to the Bohin menace. They had survived 3 months of war, and died 7 days before they may have been sent back home.

The loss of honorable life was not the only casualty of the offensive, with the Air Force's Budget being another. The Air Force lost 13 F-16's at a replacement price of between 200 million and 250 million Pantorran dollars. The Secretary of Defense said earlier that he will ask the House Budget Committee to appropriate emergency out of the Federal Surplus to pay for the fighters replacements, which may spare the air force from having to scrap another project. Whether or not these replacement budgets will be approved is yet to be seen, but with Conservatives at the helm it seems likely. One price tag that can't be refunded is the P$ 11 million in weapons, munitions, fuel, and flares used or lost in the mission.

So far, 11 airmen have been KIA, 2 confirmed as POW, and 2 MIA. Additionally, 18 Army Personnel were killed in an artillery strike from Marxist Uszwa a few weeks ago. With 15 F-16's lost, the total bill for the war is estimated at around P$ 4 Billion for replacements, fuel, munitions, food, and wages. The Defense Department has expressed some regret while being grilled by the House Armed Services Committee, where Deputy Secretary of Defense Howard Cheng said that the war "would have been better to stay out of." 7 days remain before the war effort will be terminated.
