Ablija speaks out! What a trouble maker! S7NN ownership transitions to SevCorp with radical changes in management

Ablija Hejkovic Regional Commissioner of The Seven United speaks out like an angry child against independence referendum annulment:
"For centuries we have been an independent region, self sufficient, beautiful and pristine. The people here untouched by Rhodeve colonization and free from the effects of World War Two. It is about time we had independence! At this moment, we have Michelle Ahina strangling us. We had a vote, and we voted to leave. Sure, it was a small swing but the majority of states inside The Montedoran voted to become an independent country once more! An emergency session will be held tomorrow in Montedoran parliament to find a way through to independence. Just to add here, Michelle Ahina hasn't answered any of my phone calls!"

Michelle Ahina has been awfully quiet and since the annulment it has been still.. quiet and calm in The Montedoran. Protests are all over the place, but that is expected, they are mainly peaceful however with the great work of both regional and national police.

In other news, the national news network S7NN (Standing for Seven National News) ownership has changed from the original Jenam Company to SevCorp, which has bought S7NN for an undisclosed amount of money. Transitions have already been taking place with a huge sacking of fraudulent overpaid staff in replacement with more loyal management. The new acquisition will not mean any change to broadcasting schedules or main news presenters, just a change in editing, writing and software for the company. MeteoSeven or SunalayaMetOffice will be making new graphics to replace the outdated ones in place and unchanged since 2011 when the weather forecast on S7NN changed to MeteoSeven/SunalayanMetOffice. Jeuves D. Hueves called it a great day for SevCorp which has been booming in acquisitions in past months, as a great company and successful one too.

Smoya Becomes An Associate Member Of MDAA

Image

Smoya has made a historical step in its MDAA integration. Smoyan leadership and representatives of MDAA and the alliance’s countries have wrapped up talks regarding Smoya’s association with MDAA, as the United Democratic Republic remains on its course of integration into the bloc. The country is not yet a member, but from this day on, it is more than an external partner of MDAA. Smoya and MDAA had signed a treaty which makes Smoya an associate member. Sunrisian Department of Security already had a lot to say on the agreement. The Sunrisian Convet has already ratified the deal. Instead of having one of his cabinet members make a statement, President Nóv Fáustîtár has personally decided to address the MDAA – Smoya milestone, because of its significance:

Our country is very happy about having reached this point, as Smoya’s MDAA integration has been a long procedure and the path continues. Smoya has made a key step in its journey today. The country has its foot at MDAA’s door, but it will ultimately be left up to the Smoyan people to decide on whether they will want to pursue an MDAA future till the end with full membership or if the point we had reached today is satisfactory as a middle ground. Sunrisia shares a long historical relationship with Smoya that has had its ups and downs under particular leaderships in both countries. Today, both Sunrisia and Smoya are different countries that they have been, constantly evolving with history. It is pleasant for us to have an established connection with Smoya through MDAA–Smoya association and to see the evolution of this family of free nations as we move forward into the future. We have all overcome tough challenges and ultimately prevailed. Together, we are looking forward to new beginnings, new blessings.

In other news:

  • Sunrisians preparing to head to the polls for the legislative election.

  • Sunrisian government to outline a plan for support to Konetya after Azovskaya began integration processes with Ophioneus. The Department of Security does not rule out Ophioneus using force against Konetya.

State Ministry of Foreign Affairs "Issues Statement" About Engleberg
"The Capitalist Engleans Pose a Threat to Global Socialism"

Image

Muínis, Roscrea - The State Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade has issued a statement late during the night about Engleberg. This comes just days after Matthew Marx-Parkington, the leader of the Kommunistische Partei Engleanisches Republik (KPER) was executed in the Englean Kaiserreich. The two states have engaged in ideological warfare for decades now, in what is often called the "Little Cold War" within the People's Republic. Despite the recent efforts to improve relations with more capitalist nations, including Rhodevus, Belantica and Aznazia, in recent weeks the Englean Kaiserreich has remained on the black list for the State Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (SMFAT). Over the past decade tensions between the two states have stagnated, neither improving nor worsening, but it appears after the execution of Marx-Parkington relations have worsened between the two states.

During the late hours of the night officials from SMFAT released a statement calling the Kaiserreich a "Dangerous Threat to the Worker's State" and went so far as to state that "all proletariats of the world must stand up to, and in defence from, the bourgeois threat of Engleberg." It went on to describe the decades of crimes against the proletariat committed by the Kaisserreich and described Engleberg as being "one of the largest threats towards a prosperous future for socialism across the globe." The statement also states that the recent execution of the KPER leader was only one of thousands of communists tortured and executed that day by the government of Engleberg. "Inside sources estimate that nearly 2,500 men, women and even their children were tortured before being executed for fighting against the bourgeoisie of Engleberg." SMFAT has stated that "aid in any form will be given to the worker's liberation movement, and that the hearts and minds of every Roscrean in the People's Republic and Abroad will be with those fighting against the dictatorship of the Bourgeoisie in Engleberg".

This statement came only hours after reports of a Kaiserliche-Marine vessel near the territorial waters of the People's Republic. The Red Fleet has been deployed to patrol the nation's territorial waters, and the Roscrean High Command has issued a warning to the Kaiserreich; "we will not be threatened by the capitalist threat of Engleberg. We will fight in defense of the Socialist Fatherland if the Kaiserliche-Marine vessel in the area attempts to cross into Roscrean territorial waters." Soldiers of the Red Army have been put on alert and on-leave soldiers have been instructed to report to their bases by 06.00 in preparation. Michéal Mac Alsandair, the Chief of Staff of the Roscrean High Command, has stated "we will not be taken by surprise if the Imperialists of Engleberg believe they can fight the Socialist Fatherland."

For RTRC, Tomás Sincléir.

Goldwyn Crisis Continues: Julien Piccard, leader of the Liberation Party, Joins Protests Calling for New Local Elections

Image
The protests have brought Whitemount to a standstill

The crisis in Goldwyn is continuing with a week of fresh riots and protests against the Goldwyn state government due to a tax scandal. Currently Goldwyn is without a functioning government and it currently being administered by the Senate to continue the state's functionality. The speaker of the Senate, Mathew Tammard (SDP), issued a statement saying that the senate is currently organising new structures of power for Goldwyn to continue operating effectively. He also said that the Goldwyn Parliament should convene an emergency session to discuss the future of the government and should keep all options open, including direct rule from Burton until the next general election.

The government of Goldwyn is currently controlled by the Democracy Party with 54 seats and a majority of 2 in parliament. This brings into question the nature of the government and if fresh elections would lead to a hung parliament without any suitable coalition. The SDP and Liberation Party both have 23 seats in parliament and have been relatively allied against the Democracy Party in opposition. However, both the Liberation Party and the SDP have stated that should Goldwyn achieve a hung parliament, they would not go into coalition with either of the other two parties. This suggests that the future of the Goldwynian parliament could hang in the balance of the smaller parties.

The Socialist-Bloc, now the third largest party in Capsland, achieve the fourth most votes in Goldwyn after the SDP. Votes from both the traditionally left-winged Liberation Party and the SDP could go to the Socialist-Bloc with disgruntled voters in the Democracy Party going to the Liberation Party. This brings up the opportunity of an LP-SB coalition government Goldwyn and a far left government in a particularly rebellious state of Capsland.

This is what the Democracy Party doesn't want. Especially combined with the fact that the DP is leading the current coalition national government.

EC David George has said that the government already have contingency plans in place for Goldwyn but has not specified what they are yet. Leaks within the government have revealed that the plans do not include fresh elections for Goldwyn.

PALMER MINISTRY ENDS PUBLIC SECTOR WAGE CAP FOLLOWING UNION PRESSURE

Image
Prime Minister Palmer had lifted the public sector wage gap implemented by his own government following intense union pressure.

Cape Perusia - After weeks of intense pressure from public sector unions and the threat of a general strike, Prime Minister Harold Palmer announced that his government would be lifting the public sector wage gap they implemented earlier this year. The lifting of the public sector wage cap is seen as a significant victory for unions and their members who have been actively seeking its removal since its initial implementation.

New Toolan Federation of Labor President Matthew Hancock praised the recent decision by the Palmer Ministry and announced that a potential general strike was no longer being explored as a course of action. The NTFL is being joined by other prominent public sector unions in announcing their satisfaction with the lifting of the wage cap. Union support for the Palmer Ministry has returned to the positives in the public opinion polls which could play a major role in the upcoming national local elections. Current policy would indicate that the average public sector wages will increase by January of 2018.

Whigs have universally condemned the actions of the Palmer Ministry in response to the lifting of the wage cap. Opposition Leader David Watson condemned what he sees as "appeasement policy" related to how the Palmer Ministry acts in regards to unions. Conservative Whigs like Beverly Vane and Edward Prescott have called for federal policy aimed at rolling back the power of public sector unions. Former Whig Prime Minister Leonard Kramer blasted the Palmer Ministry over their decision to bend to union pressure.

Prominent members of Prime Minister Palmer's Federalist Party have praised the decision as a necessary course of action to keep the country from breaking down. Former Federalist Prime Ministers Benjamin Rutledge and Eugene Hogan both praised the resolution of the situation. Chancellor of the Exchequer Brandon Moorehead also praised the decision along with Labor Relations Minister Howard Burnett in separate press releases.

Economists warn that the lifting of the wage cap could negatively impact New Toola's already fragile economy as inflation is expected to continue to rise. The economy remains stagnant with very few areas of positive growth. Consumer confidence in the economy has continued to trend downwards in recent months. While the fight over the public wage cap has seemingly been brought to a close, the next upcoming budget battle could place the country on a collision course with potential strife. The country is already seemingly bracing for what's to come.

Vesvai Signs Strategic Agreement With MDAA For Regional Security

Vesvai has signed a strategic deal with MDAA that would create cooperation with the bloc on regional security and help prevent incidents. Both sides would be able to better cooperate on peace. The deal was signed in neighboring Creperia because Sunrisian sanctions ban Vesvai’s officials from entering that country. Vesvai’s government said the deal will benefit ROVAA and the Rhodeve Commonwealth because it is meant to help avoid direct conflict with MDAA. Vesvai considers itself a gatekeeper of ROVAA and the Commonwealth in the face of Corentia and that is why it is key for Vesvai to be able to cooperate with southern neighbors. PM Matthew Praeterit was reluctant on signing the deal, but advice from his own party and pressure from the opposition made him agree to it.

Experts say that the strongly Dogmanan-oriented government of Vesvai is making pro-Corentian policies to ease tensions with the opposition and prevent more anti-government attitudes in Vesvai. It is but a strategy, according to experts. First there was tariff-slashing trade agreement with Sunrisia and now a strategic partnership with MDAA. Both these moves imitate a multi-vector foreign policy of Vesvai, but it is clear that the VHU-led government is looking towards Dogmana and only Dogmana. Strong commitment to ROVAA, the Rhodeve Commonwealth and individual relations with nations in both organizations is Vesvai’s priority under present leadership.

Chemensian National Police in downtown Durnlak

Durnlak, Lujek- Today was a sad day for the president and Chemensia as a whole. The president's first cousin, Tomislav Kazic, two of his children, and a police officer were killed in an ambush in downtown Durnlak around 5:00 today. The entire city center is still under lockdown and the perpetrators fled the scene. So far all the deaths are confirmed and the number of deaths is at four. Durnlak mayor Marija Vojislavic ordered a city-wide lockdown at 5:24 and the lockdown will not be lifted until 10:00 tomorrow morning, at least for the city outskirts. The gunmen are still on the run and there are no confirmed suspects in custody. Police are currently searching the city to see if the gunmen have been able to get out.

The president so far has only gave one statement, "This couldn't be happening". He said this in during press conference with HoR Rep. Dobrilo Dravin discussing a bill limiting the advertisement of drugs and medicines. It's said he was informed by his head adviser Ana Kaperak around two minutes after police arrived on the shooting scene. We have no further information of the president at the moment.

The four killed have all been named and listed below.
-Tomislav Kazic, 48
-Dimitry Kazic, 20
-Divna Kazic, 6
-Sgt. Adrijan Kabro, 31

Edereon grants autonomy to Orentas

Image

Ederi parliament has voted to grant a status of an autonomous region to Orentas, south-east Edereon. The region would be granted a right of self-governance with an autonomous government that would be elected by the residents of Orentas. The autonomous government would not be controlled by the central government in Conordo, but would be expected to legally cooperate. Orentas is a region that has history reaching far back, when first states started appearing in Corentia and before modern borders of Edereon were founded. Today Orentas is the least homogenous and most ethnically diverse region in Edereon. It is inhabited by the descendants of native Corentian tribes, ethnic minorities, national minorities, different religious groups, immigrants, etc. Ethnic Ederis are simply one of the groups, not even being one of the larger ones by percentage. Orentas has always been internally peaceful and difference never caused tensions. The central Ederi government thought that the region deserved autonomy. Orentas would have its own government that would further ensure internal peace in Orentas and harmony with the rest of Edereon. Members of Edereon’s various religious groups believe that there is something special and sacred about Orentas.

Head of Montedoran Police sacked, Ablija Hejkovic sacked. Commissioner for Unitary Security Donn Mikhin Govrachev placed as interim Regional Commissioner for The Montedoran

Commissioner Ahina has really put her foot down today, as she has sacked the Montedoran Police high command including the head. She has sacked Ablija Hejkovic and suspended the regional council in The Montedoran as Ablija Hejkovic promised to upturn the annulment. Ahina has came out to talk about the situation in full;

"The Independence Referendum was one of the biggest mistakes we have made as a nation. The people now no longer want to leave, it is clear. The Union is unbreakable, as a state, and the referendum was put ahead due to previous legislation in the previous government. Why we had allowed negotiations and a sense of false doom? We were still rummaging through papers and legality, its not legal, and it never will be legal to cut yourself off from The Union. As Ablija does not want to give in, we will have to enact Article 145 the seizure of regional officials and temporary suspension of high government in a region to ensure the internal security of the Union. There will be snap elections held in The Montedoran as a result and Interim Commissioner Donn. Govrachev will be in place, and he is more than worthy to hold the situation. We understand that in some areas there will be unrest, and as such both regional and central police will be there to keep the peace. Border checks and checkpoints inside The Montedoran will be temporarily re enacted in the north west and north east to stop any form of terrorism from being exported again from these regions. I am sorry, as a party and as a government for letting this instability happen and as a Unionist party it shan't ever happen again under Soldurs Des."

Ahina apologized unreservedly and put her hand up in this small mistake. The courageous leader also tried her best to keep resolve in the picture with new snap elections in place, date to be some time in January. Ablija Hejkovic has came out furiously on her twitter calling Ahina a "Witch" and a "Dictator" and has urged many citizens on Montedoran forum renown for its radicalism "IndependentMontedoran.me" to rise up, some have and there have been many disturbances and issues with small scale riots in many northern towns especially. The site, has since been shut down by the internal security Commission. The rush of Unitary police has made some elderly folk remember the time of the troubles, though there is little chance of such rebellion happening again under such a strong and wise government like ours.

The head of Montedoran police has been sacked as he has been found in favour of rebels and allowed the upturn of the second independence referendum sanctioned by central government. Raol Veradez has came out in anger and hostility as he said he was only following orders, calling the sacking a petty power grab by central government.

Covington Becomes the 13th State; New Flag Shown
Image
Covington state flag

Vancouver, Aug. 21 -- Covington was officially proclaimed as the thirteenth state of the United States of Cascadia today by President Tyrone at multipartisan White House ceremonies.

The Presidential action was followed immediately by the unfurling of a new thirteen-star flag, which will not become official until January 1st. The thirteen alternate red and white stripes remain unchanged, but the stars on a field of blue are arranged in rows of three and two. The White House ceremony today was but a formality noting the citizens of covington had boted to accept the obligations of statehood and had held elections to choose their officers.
President Hart called it "truly an historic occasion" because for the first time since the inception of Cascadia, a new state had been admitted into the union. "All twelve states will join in welcoming the new one- Covington- to this Union," he said. "We will wish for her prosperity, security, happiness and a growing closer relationship with all of the other states. We know that she is ready to do her part to make this Union a stronger nation- a stronger people than it was before because of her presence as a full sister to the other twelve states. So all of us say to her, 'good luck.'"

Covington was An Aznazian colony until 1917, When Cascadia was given the island after a 7 year war between the two nations. The Cascadian island was since a loyal Cascadian territory, and in 1960, The Cascadian government passed a bill allowing them to vote in presidential elections.

Executive Minister Edmond Dantes announces he will not seek re-election

NORDIPOLICA - October 31st, 2017
By Jason Vannes, Staff Writer

Image

Executive Minister Edmond Dantes announced Monday that he will not seek re-election in the 2020 Layfetian Elections, owning in due part to having already served three terms. Dantes, along with Executive Ministers James Tallmadge, Clara LaRue, and Evelyn Hall are the only Executive Ministers who have served more than two terms. Dantes made the announcement after remarks about the brewing Nuclear Crisis growing in the POD, citing that he will have the nuclear crisis solved by the end of the decade.

Dantes's approval ratings are higher then ever with a 88 percent approval rating, it is likely that whomever he endorses to be the next Executive Minister will win the election. Since 2006, Dantes has made strives in bolstering Heathcare in Layfet, reducing the size of the Layfetian Military, increasing science and education spending and reestablishing the Layfetian Space Agency after it had dissolved in 1998. He overhauled Layfet's transportation system and reduced protections on religious organizations. He also went on a tour of several of Layfet's most important allies to bolster international relations and reduce nuclear stockpiles. Dantes ordered the last Layfetian warhead to be dismantled in 2008, however he ordered the military to keep enough uranium around to build at least 10 warheads should the need arise.

After winning re-election in 2010 and expanded on many of the ideals of his first term. It was during this time, that Layfet successfully returned to space with the first Layfetian in space since 1998. He also focused heavily on gun control, which led to Gun Safety Act of 2013 in which no further guns would be built, manufactured, sold, added into circulation, or imported to Layfet (except in cases of the Military and Police). Dantes worked the rest of his term asking citizens to turn in their firearms, as he would not take those already in circulation. This was the Gun Repeal Program, which has seen some success in lowering the total amount of weapons in Layfet.

So far, Dantes has spent this term focusing on combating global climate change, creating the Clean Layfet Act which will have Layfet powered by entirely renewable energy by 2030. Dantes has also been working to open up ties with other nations in Sunalaya and plans to have a world climate agreement worked out before the end of his term.

Prospective runners in the 2020 Elections have been quiet so far, but this announcement may just be the trigger needed to come out and start campaigning.

Large Coalition Set To Lead The Convet Following Legislative Election

Image

As Sunrisia celebrates the aftermath of its legislative election, the top winning parties from all sides of the political spectrum are preparing to form a new coalition to lead the parliament. The Convet of the Second Republic of Sunrisia is set to be headed by an even bigger coalition than we had in the current composition of the Convet. Following the election, many of the classically-favored parties have secured their lead, however, many other parties had significantly caught up to them with risen popularity that has brought them larger percentage and bigger numbers of votes than in the past.

The parties included in the new coalition would be – the minor centrist Liberal Democrats, left-leaning Democratic Socialists, centrist Democrats, center-left Liberals, centrist Progressivists and center-right Moderates. In the post-election speeches, the leaders and representatives of these parties had stated that a new 6-party coalition set to be formed will inherit the mission of the preceding incumbent coalition to properly represent Sunrisians from all political leanings and work together as one. However, they do not exclude the chance that the task might be potentially more difficult for them than for the previous governing coalition because of an even larger number of parties included and more diverse political leanings. There are still more self-proclaimed centrists, but there are also those leaning left and leaning right, which will have to learn to work together. The leaders of all 6 parties say they are up for the challenge and many are motivated by a previous experience of governing within a coalition alongside other parties before.

The incumbent coalition that is preparing to transfer Convet leadership to a new coalition that would be formed, also was described as centrist overall, but was still more left-leaning, as it involved more left-leaning parties in its composition. Although that coalition also embraced its political and ideological diversity and saw itself as a capable representative of different political leanings in Sunrisia, it was still easier for it to cooperate, because of many parties being left-leaning or center-left. The situation will be different with the upcoming 6-party coalition.

President Nóv Fáustîtár congratulated the winners in an address from the Presidential Palace:

I wish the parties forming a large 6-party coalition the best of luck. The current wonderful coalition that we had in the Convet has done a wonderful job of representing the political diversity in Sunrisia, but as it was admitted by the parties themselves, that mission will be even tougher for the new coalition. I embrace the fact that this new coalition will be even more “colorful”, having centrists, left-leaning and right-leaning within it. This kind of line-up will be even a better representative of the voices of Sunrisians from all walks of life and of different political views. We also believe that our administration will be able to find common ground and effectively work with the new coalition leading the Convet and with the parties that will hold a minority in the parliament, but should not and will not be overlooked. When I ran for President, I ran as an Independent and continue to identify as such, affiliating myself to no single party. My predecessor President Sánît Béâtídá was also an Independent, which is why it has been so easy for us to effectively work together with the parliament. We had no biases and no favorites. Other than that, I also identify myself as a centrist, which is why I had been able to find common language with all parties. I also made sure to appoint my cabinet members in order not only to find the best people for the job, but also to make my cabinet as politically diverse as possible, with centrists, left-leaning and right-leaning involved. Having a diverse presidential administration and a diverse parliament is the best government you could have in my opinion, as it best represents our citizens as a whole. That is the beauty of our democracy. I am confident that our administration will establish a great partnership with the new coalition in the Convet as we had shared with the previous one. But now, I wish for the parliament members that will be in the coalition and those in parties that will stay in the minority or opposition, to work together despite how incompatible it might sometimes feel. The new coalition will be bigger and more diverse politically, so there is a risk for it to implode or be torn up from the inside, because it will be pulled in different directions. Which is why I wish you to think of your responsibility as your priority. If you manage to effectively work together, then your coalition will transform into a governing giant that will be able to better unite the people of this country, despite their views. Thank you, may the Forces Above bless you and may the Forces Above bless Sunrisia.

Deputy Executive Minster Susan Polster announces campaign

NORDIPOLICA - November 1st, 2017
By J. P. Warner, Staff Writer

Image

Deputy Executive Minister Susan Polster is the first person to announce a campaign for the 2020 Ministership Elections after current Executive Minister Edmond Dantes gave a speech saying he would not seek election. The 41 year old politician first entered the political game back in 2000 when she became Ambassador to Makenzie and Athabaska at 24. In 2005, Dantes chose the then 30 year old to be his running mate and she became Deputy Executive Minister. Polster's popularity has increased every since she entered the office, transforming it from a seemingly unimportant non-flashy office to one of great political importance.

Polster has made herself the quintessential Layfetian diplomat, working to improve Layfetian trade and opening several Layfetian diplomatic missions, not to mention her domestic work like deals with various members in Congress to pass the highly controversial Clean Layfet Act and stoping repeal attempts at the Gun Safety Act. She has done a lot of work promoting women's rights across Sunalaya and has plans to give a speech before the United Sunalayan Assembly on improving the rights of women in other countries.

Confederal Ministry of National Protection, Konföderaleswehr say Daredland should watch out for Engleberg, Chancellor disagrees

Image

The remarks from the government of Engleberg about the rights of Germanic peoples in Daredland has caught the attention of the Confederal Ministry of National Protection and Daredi Konföderaleswehr. They have warned the Daredi government to pay more attention to Englean warnings for national security reasons. The reason to pay more attention is not to adjust Daredi policies to Engleberg’s tastes, but to not take lightly the fact that Engleberg has taken an interest in what is going on in Daredland. They do not rule out the idea that Engleberg might try to use Germanic peoples in Daredland to stir the pot, affect Daredland’s politics, pressure Daredi government for Engleberg’s national interests, maybe try to absorb Daredland’s territories based on ethnic grounds. Ministry officials and those from the military have addressed the State Council on the matter and proposed that the government consider increasing Daredland’s defense budget. Chancellor Calvin Aigner did not agree with the notion. He believes that the national defense institutions are overreacting. “I think that the Englean leadership has been justifiably concerned over the rights and culture of the Germanic peoples in a culturally fraternal nation that is Daredland. The ethnic and cultural question has been at the forefront in Daredland and Engleberg is concerned for fellow Germanic peoples. I don’t think they would remain indifferent if the same issue was happening in any other country in any other part of the world. We should just calm down. The Englean leadership should relax too. We had made it clear that our government would preserve policies that would protect the rights of all ethnicities in Daredland and embrace our cultural diversity as a melting pot nation. I can relate to Englean concerns, being mostly Germanic myself, but I also have a responsibility to represent a multi-ethnic nation as its Chancellor. I also do not support increasing the defense budget because of unjustified fears of Engleberg’s pan-Germanic foreign policy. That money should be going to healthcare, education, the environment and social welfare instead.”

Governor-General Andrew Gaileta Will Tour Vesvai To Unite The Country

Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta has repeatedly tried to unite Vesvai during this politically divisive time. He addressed the nation during the controversial campaign for the general election and did so during the large post-election protests. Most recently, he held a joint news conference with PM Matthew Praeterit where he again preached the message of unity and expressed his support for VHU party leadership in Vesvai’s government. The Governor-General does not believe in electoral fraud allegations. The position of the Governor-General itself has been less and less looked up to, generation after generation. The Governor-General has no influence on political decisions and Vesvaians have learned to regard the Governor-General as a symbolic office. They see the office as showing Vesvai’s place in the Commonwealth. But Governor-General Andrew Gaileta does not seem to notice that. He sees himself as the nation’s caretaker and almost a moral compass. Thus, the Governor-General believes that he can still successfully carry a mission of uniting Vesvai and does not plan to surrender. In his last public appearance, he announced that he would tour the nation and visit as much of it as he can to calm the people down. Will the Governor-General succeed? We will see.

Belantic Touring Car Champion Series To Begin This Saturday
Image
Tomorrow, the 2017 Belantic Touring Car Champion Series will kick at world-famous Nettleham Circuit in northwestern New Albany. Racing teams and cars from around the world are competing for the grand prize of being this year's champion and 3 million Mons courtesy of the Association of Professional Racing (APR), Dunlop Tires (OOC: yes, I know it's a real tire company, deal with it) and the Insurance Alliance. This year, there is expected to be a very strong competition between the teams, some of them have old rivalries, while others are new to the series. Nettleham has always been the starting point for the BTCC, and will be followed up by races at Mellwood, Kaihasi, Greentown, Ventura, Montego, Harris Glen, Fowler Heights, Bluerock, and finally the Captial Circuit. These series of races will happen every Saturday, regardless of weather conditions, each with a follow-up race on Sunday. Today, drivers are getting in practice and qualifying for pole position, with the actual race consisting of 50 laps around the track. Even so, fans are already flocking to Nettleham, as last year's series was cancelled due to political problems in Belantica, so fans are excited that the races are going once more. Many drivers from past series are returning, and some new faces are now present, including three new female drivers. "We're happy to start the series up once more," APR's president Dale Griswold told us, "because racing in Belantica has become part of our tradition, our national pastimes, and we are happy to race with many from around the world not just for the sake of the grand prize, but the thrill of the chase, and the fierce competition that unfolds between teams, manufacturers, and drivers. It is truly a sport unlike any other." Due to it being early in the series, there is no predictions on who will be crowned champion for this year, but as the series unfolds, we will have a clearer picture. So tune in this Saturday at 1PM BST to see the beginning of the BTCC Series!

Matthew Praeterit Resigns As Vesvai’s Prime Minister, Replaced By Jonathan Mollisal

Breaking news are coming from the capital. PM Matthew Praeterit has announced his resignation as the Head of Government of Vesvai and confirmed that he would be replaced by another member of his VHU party Jonathan Mollisal. The former PM’s facial expression as he was giving this news attempted to be neutral, but it was clear that he was not too happy having to quit. His departing words were: “I feel appreciation for the opportunity that was given to me. The members of our VHU party have given their large trust to me that they had decided to appoint me Vesvai’s Prime Minister. They did so when our party won the majority in the Parliament for the first time. I was fortunate enough to remain in this honorable position for an extended period. It showed that my fellow party members saw me as someone worthy and kept me in this position as the face of Vesvai for so long. I will never forget that. But now they feel that I have run my course. Respecting their choice, I announce my departure from the position of Vesvai’s Prime Minister and will give it over to my appointed successor.”

Former PM Matthew Praeterit would be replaced by another member of the ruling majority party VHU Jonathan Mollisal. He was handpicked by VHU to replace Praeterit as Vesvai’s new Prime Minister and would be voted into the position by the Parliament tomorrow. Mollisal expressed a feeling of honor for being chosen and is already preparing for inauguration. His predecessor Matthew Praeterit would become an average parliament member with a strong voice since his party VHU is still in the majority. Another member of VHU has explained to the press behind the scenes what had led to the party’s decision to convince Praeterit to resign from PM’s post: “Matthew Praeterit was a good Prime Minister, but he has become a little too hot-headed and stuck-up the longer he remained in his post. He led Vesvai in the course that VHU wanted to lead Vesvai in which made him a loyal crusader of our party. But he was also not flexible at all. He was completely not open to any international cooperation by Vesvai outside Dogmana, outside ROVAA or WeSTO, outside the Rhodeve Commonwealth. He wanted to put all of Vesvai’s eggs in one basket. Don’t get me wrong, our entire party was stuck-up too for a long time, but this constant bickering with the opposition and the state of civil unrest in Vesvai has made us more open-minded. But not Praeterit. We had to practically beat into him any trade deal or other agreement with those outside Dogmana or the Commonwealth. He placed his signature on any such deal with a frown or a sense of anxiety, unless he saw actual damage that Vesvai was enduring without these agreements. It was time for him to go. But he is not leaving anywhere since he would remain a member of Parliament and he is still a respected member of VHU, a party that Vesvaians re-elected to hold a majority in government again. Vesvai’s new Prime Minister Jonathan Mollisal will do a great job and he is a flexible politician. We believe that he will be much better at reflecting VHU’s new adjusted course.”

Vesvai’s Governor-General Andrew Gaileta, who is embarking on a nation-wide tour, was unhappy with the news of Praeterit’s resignation, but said that he would try to respect the government’s decision and hoped that the government knew what it was doing. Vesvai’s citizens took the news of the resignation positively, even taking to the streets to show their joy. The AIT opposition coalition and other parties are skeptical though and call this a strategic move but with no real change. One member of AIT said: “It’s just a change of face, but the fact remains that VHU is still in power. What we are waiting for are the results of an electoral fraud investigation that is supposedly still happening. Our coalition will boycott the vote at the Parliament tomorrow that will inaugurate Jonathan Mollisal as the new Prime Minister. That is because we see it all as being for show.”

Daredland signs trade treaty with Sunrisia, becomes partners with MDAA

Image

Chancellor Calvin Aigner has returned from a working visit to Sunrisia where he met with the nation’s President Nóv Fáustîtár. The purpose of visit was to finalize the negotiated interstate treaties by signing them. After the singing the Chancellor left Sunrisia just before the scheduled meeting of the Sunrisian officials with Layfetian officials. The quick visit was possible because of the close proximity between nations. After his return Chancellor Calvin Aigner spoke before the State Council that was briefed on the progress. He later spoke before the press on the same topic. Both speeches concerned what deals had been under negotiation and what has been signed. “I and President Nóv Fáustîtár have signed an economic treaty between Daredland and Sunrisia which we had named the Enhanced Trade and Bilateral Investment Agreement. I also had the pleasure of meeting with Sunrisian defense officials from the Department of Security. We had spoken not only on cooperation between Konföderaleswehr and the Sunrisian Defense Force, but also on cooperation between Daredland and MDAA. I have signed a series of documents that establish Daredland’s partnership with MDAA. We would be cooperating on security and humanitarianism. The Sunrisians have requested that Daredland aid MDAA on international humanitarian operations. We had agreed that Konföderaleswehr soldiers would help supply and distribute humanitarian help to many world areas that MDAA would be working in. Our security cooperation would concern the safety of all our countries, our shared part of the world and also more if it affects us. These reached historic agreements are part of Daredland’s developing foreign policy strategy. What the Daredi leadership hopes to achieve in the long-run is a possible common market or a free trade area in our region or on our continent and also for Daredland to eventually join MDAA. I also hope to visit more of Daredland’s neighbors in the future and our government will be looking into Daredland’s participation in large international organizations like the United Sunalayan Assembly. There are still no updates I can give on the proposal to increase Daredland’s defense budget because we had not reached consensus inside the government. I still stand by the opinion that the money should go into other areas, but desperate times can change opinions. We will see how things will go.”

--- Line of Succession ---
Princess Krissal - A Mighty Big Mistake

With the recent tumult within Parliament, it has become increasingly difficult to keep track of exactly what the debate is about and who is in the running to replace our once great Monarch. After the unfortunate stroke which laid-low the venerable King Garnaren the III, no doubt you’ve heard a trio of names be thrown around both by the nightly news and around the office, or even in private conversation between close friends and family. These three individuals, the King’s own daughters and son, are increasingly likely to assume power in the coming days so it’s important to keep up-to-date on exactly who they are and what they are likely to bring to the table.

As part of our mission to keep you, dear reader, informed of the going’s on in the chaos that is the modern-day politics of our great nation, the Vaastergaad Viewpoint will be running a short four-part exposé on these individuals. In this series, we will give you the rundown on exactly who they are and what they could mean for EIkangaard’s future as a nation.
Of course, this being a series about the line of succession it only makes sense to begin with the King’s designated heir, Princess Krissal.

Now, what could be said about our dear princess that hasn’t been told at length already? We all know she’s blessed (or cursed, depending on your outlook) with a fiery temper and a no-holds-barred attitude that has put her into the spotlight on many an occasion. This is a woman who only very seldom takes no for an answer, preferring instead to lock horns with her opponents until she gets her way. Rumor has it that not even our esteemed boys and girls in uniform could curb this volcanic temper!

This, to some, might be seen as beneficial if properly motivated. Problem is that Krissal has made it abundantly clear that she doesn’t want to be Monarch, having gone on record many times saying many…less than savory things about the monarchy as a whole to put it lightly. It seems more likely that her interests have remained in the juvenile realm of late-night and nightly parties. She has routinely been seen returning to the Vaastergaad Palace drunk and, based on her social-media posts, waking up hungover is apparently a common trend.

While she is still the most likely candidate for the Throne, her temper, self-destructive tendencies, and an overall lack of self-discipline makes her effectiveness as a Monarch dubious at best. So of course, replacing her candidacy with one of her siblings would be the best course of action, right?

Unfortunately, it’s not so simple. Join us next week for the second instalment in our series on the line of succession. Until then, take care readers.

Busy And Productive Week For The Fáustîtár Administration

Having just congratulated a new coalition set to lead the Convet after elections, the administration of the Sunrisian President remains active. In the nation’s capital Aestin, President Nóv Fáustîtár is currently hosting a delegation from Layfet at the Presidential Palace. The meeting is expected to conclude with a number of agreements being signed between Sunrisia and Layfet, extending bilateral cooperation. Prior to this meeting, the President had the Chancellor of Daredland Calvin Aigner visit where the leaders signed a number of treaties that had been negotiated over a certain period. The Daredland–Sunrisia Enhanced Trade and Bilateral Investment Agreement was signed along with a partnership agreement establishing a cooperation framework between MDAA and Daredland. President Fáustîtár voiced Sunrisia’s support for Daredland’s expressed bid for eventual membership in MDAA, saying that other allies in the military bloc would hopefully feel the same. Moving along the schedule after the current Layfetian–Sunrisian meeting, a government spokesperson stated that the President’s next guest at the Presidential Palace would be the new Prime Minister of Vesvai Jonathan Mollisal. Meanwhile, Minister of International Relations Ectrăr Álienan is preparing to visit Creperia and Edereon where he would meet with the leaders of both nations, as well as with his foreign affairs counterparts. Minister of Security Armăs Fórtídâ in a media briefing announced that Sunrisia might allow its bases to become usable for MDAA allies for their own military training. The Minister said that it is only a plan, but nothing has been confirmed or approved yet. Outside the political elite, analysts have said that the administration’s drive and activity is commendable. It was pointed out that in comparison to predecessors, President Nóv Fáustîtár has been especially active in developing relationships with foreign partners and establishing a number of deals in a relatively short period which is why it will be interesting to see where this foreign policy is going to lead. President Fáustîtár’s administration accounted for a significant portion of Sunrisia’s foreign relationships after a clean slate has been wiped post-reunification. So far, the track record has been positive and the President’s personal approval rating has reflected that. The media believes it is a topic still early to discuss, but experts say that President Fáustîtár is easily heading towards re-election at this rate, because of policy and government efficiency combined with notable significant deeds for Sunrisia’s history.

50th Anniversary of Constitution!
"Celebrations Across the Nation to Mark 50th Anniversary"

Image

Muínis, Roscrea - It was on this day, 6 of November, in 1967 that the Seventh (Special) Session of the Supreme Dáil of the People's Republic officially adopted the Fourth Constitution of the People's Republic of Roscrea, officially replacing the 1936 Constitution of the People's Republic. 50 years on and the 1967 Constitution is still upheld in the People's Republic, being taught to the next generation of the Socialist future, enshrined in the laws of the Four Provinces of the People's Republic. Today's celebrations see massive firework displays in Muínis and other major cities throughout the People's Republic as well as the largest military parade in the People's Republic in over three decades now.

Taoiseach (Prime MInister) Cathal Ó Faoláin also gave a speech today outside the Capital Building. Ó Faoláin's grandfather, Faolán Ó Fearghail, was Taoiseach at the time of the Constitution's Adoption in 1967. "Today, now more than ever, we must continue to strive to follow the example of our forefathers to further the Socialist cause. Just this week the Englean Navy thought to threaten the sovereignty of the Socialist Fatherland - but we did not back down in fear, just as our father's and their father's did not back down." The threat, of course, was the recent Kaiserliche-Marine vessel near the territorial waters of the People's Republic. It is believed the ship was sent as a warning after condemnations were made of the Kaisserreich's government for the execution of nearly 2,500 men, women and children for their affilliations to the Kommunistische Partei Engleanisches Republik (KPER) - among whom was Matthew Marx-Parkington, the leader of the KPER.

The Taoiseach went on to describe his vision of a bright future for the People's Republic. Optimistic, the Taoiseach has stated plans to transition the nation's industry into a brighter, more environmentally-friendly complex are well under way now, with ground being broke in the Capital City this past week to establish new sustainable housing complexes. Perhaps most surprising, however, was the Taoiseach's announcement that a Special Session of the Dáil has been called. The Fourteenth Special Session of the Dáil will begin meeting tomorrow, Monday 7 of November to debate the possibility of the first Ammendment to the Constitution. This ammendment would see a major change in the structure of Government for the People's Republic; but already exists within the current framework of the Constitution. If approved the People's Republic of Roscrea would officially be renamed to the Union of Socialist Republics of Roscrea, or USRR (Aontas na bPoblachtaí Sóisialacha na Ros Cré; APSRC) and would restructure the provincial system of the People's Republic. The four Provinces (cúige in Irish) represent four historically independent nations and if the constitutional amendment is passed by the Special Session these four Provinces would once again be givin independence; officially being renamed to Socialist People's Republics (SPR) with the four SPRs making up the Union. Deliberations in the Supreme Dáil could last anywhere from days to 3 months - with the Dáil being given a deadline of 30 January, 2018 - at which point the Dáil will have to vote for an extension on the deadline or allow for a nation wide referendum on the amendment.

For RTRC, Tomás Sincléir.

Top general planning Islamist coup arrested

Police outside general's home in Rombad

General Nurislam Labufov, a top general in the Dirkhiz Armed Forces, was arrested today after a man reported to Rombadi Police that he overheard the general talking to his officers in a meeting about planning a large coup against the government,
which has been a danger recently with radicalization growing in the nation's mostly muslim population, they said that they wanted a Islamist Dirkhiz government similar to the Holy Islamic State's government where Sharia Law rules on everything and non-islamic religions are banned. Movements for such a government have been starting to grow across Dirkhizistan as many muslims in the nation are starting to become radicalized. General Labufov talking to police said that he is not the leader of the coup, but will not give any information to police on any other members and who a leader of a possible Islamist coup may be.

Following the end of the Layfetian-Sunrisian Diplomatic Talks yesterday morning, Congress set aside funds and contracted out to the Department of Layfet State Affairs to begin construction of the Sunrisian Embassy. As downtown is overly crowded, Congress bought land just east of the International Layfetian Friendship Gardens near Nordipolica International Airport.

The move to have to have the embassy constructed here was caused by pressures by citizens to keep downtown Nordipolica free for more business and commercial enterprises. Construction of the Embassy should be completed by late December with the Sunrisian staff moving in by mid-January. Sunrisia has yet to unveil plans for a Layfetian Embassy in Aestin.

The Talks between the two governments ended with spectacular results, according to Director of Foreign Relations Luke Brant, "the two governments are already seemingly close." He pointed out before departing a plane home. The two governments first signed a Free Trade Agreement, which includes no tariff based trade as well as designated fast track through customs of the following products: coal, oil, machinery, and computer parts. There is also a clause regarding Auto manufacturing plants, however both governments agreed to postpone that clause for further negations.

The two nations also now allow 60-day visa free travel between the two nations, which will boost tourism between the two nations and increase revenue. The last item of business was the Sunrisian-Layfetian Naval Association Compact which allows Sunrisia's Navy to pass and station itself in Layfetian Waters and the military port in Raine, in return Sunrisia provides Layfet with naval defense.

Executive Minister Edmond Dantes decided to stay a few more days to relax and enjoy the customs of Sunrisia and plans to return back to Layfet on November 8th. Deputy Executive Minister Susan Polster returned yesterday to ratify the agreements with Congress. It looks like an era is beginning between the two nations and further talks are expected by the end of the month.
