Today in the Empire,

The Imperial Grand Line of Sheng China is now fully operational and running in all continental Sheng territories.



The Imperial Grand Line services the major cities and capitals throughout the entire empire leading to the Imperial Capital of Yong'an.

The project was funded by the Imperial Ministry of Transport and the Imperial Family. Construction employed several hundreds of thousands of workers in each territory serviced. Making it one of the largest construction efforts in Imperial History next only to the construction of the Great Wall, the Grand Canal, the Three Gorges Dam, and the current reconstruction of the Panama Canal.

Developing in the homeland a large scale protests were broken up by police forces in three major cities of Taipei, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.



The protests are shown to be related and organized by misguided democracy warriors of Ai Weisheng demanding his immediate release and pardon from the Imperial Ministry of High Justice.

The protesters shouted anti-government and anti-imperial family slogans while demanding Ai's release. The protesters turned violent upon the arrival of local riot police who were forced to use extraordinary measures to crackdown on the rioters. Sadly to say several of the rioters were injured in the crack down with several many more being arrested. None however luckily died.



Democracy dissident Ai Weisheng remains in custody and will go to trial for subversion of the Imperial Government, defaming the Grand Empress and Crown Prince, spreading religious propaganda, illegal organization of subversive groups, disturbing the peace, agitating the populace, publishing illegal propaganda, fleeing police custody, falsifying documents, and many more offenses.

In other news, a wide scale corruption probe has begun in the Imperial Government by order of the Grand Empress. The probe will be lead by Imperial Justice Bao Zheng.

The probe comes as a result of the recent surveying of the general populace in their opinions of the Imperial Government bureaucracy and cited that corruption was the largest complaint.

The Grand Empress is taking measures to curb this offense within her governments and considers it to be a personal blemish upon herself that the situation has come to this. All those found guilty of corruption will face the full wrath of the law.

All of the Empire is preparing for the coming Chinese new year which is set to begin on the 31st of January on the new moon with festivities running for 15 consecutive days.

Reconstruction of Santa Helena has begun in spite of local resentment over the bombardment of their village. Purified water as well as many other materials are being airlifted in as troops begin the process of capturing enemy soldiers and obtaining any and all weapons on the island.


Also, the unfortunate discovery of a mass grave filled with prisoners of war have prompted troops to begin funeral preparations as well as petition the Praeceptor for a national declaration of mourning for the fallen troops.


In other news, a new class of air dreadnought has gone into mass production for the naval air force. Surprisingly they have put all of the budget for ship building into this new class of dreadnoughts. Production of the first two are expected to be finished within days as another two finish in the next couple weeks...

[Nanyu]

Opposition leaders Javira al-Kasar, Sayid Ichawo, and Dinh Jawari have called for demonstrations in the streets until a third party organization does a recount of the ballots.
We are getting overwhelming reports of widespread protests from dozens of cities across the country.
Many citizens are crying foul play when Khoi Duong won the recent elections with 50% of the vote when recent polls estimated he would only get 11%.

Today, the fleet sent as an intervention force headed straight for Nanyu has ran into a fleet under the command of none other than the Sheng Imperial Navy. Reports suggest that
the Chinese fleet was sent to prevent our own fleet from proceeding to the country in question. Reasons for why the Chinese are doing this have ranged from security issues due to the close proximity of the country to their borders, to personal interest in the countries stability. Personally, I believe that the country is far from being stable, and that the current road to "stability" is gonna result in a lot of dead bodies if the Chinese fleet doesn't disperse soon.

Tensions are high the civilian unrest in Nanyu has drawn Empire into direct conflict with the forces of Konstantinye.



In an effort to maintain stability in the region and prevent the outbreak of wide scale conflict, the Imperial Government ordered for Nanyu to be blockaded by two Imperial Airship fleets. One of which is commanded by the Crown Prince himself as it is reported.

The Imperial Government has explained that it cannot allow Konstantinye to force its hostile will upon Nanyu for fear of establishing poor precedent that diminishes the value of national sovereignty. 'To attack a nation and disrupt its political process on the basis that you do not agree with it, does not give grounds for an assault of the magnitude of that which Konstantinye threats. Threats and ultimatums are the tactics of aggressors and savages. This is a matter for the Nanyu nation to take into their hands and deal with. Interference should only come in a peaceful manner and not in force of arms."

Comments from the People:

Xin Ping, a 50 year old woman on the streets of Yong'an says, "These Westerners value no ones interests and opinions but their own. They think what they are doing is always in the right. How dare they to force their ways on others. Yes it is bad in Nanyu, but to invade because of a spat of violence. *spits* I spit at Konstantinye. Barbarians."

Middle aged businessman Liu Fei in Shanghai says, "I hate the violence in Nanyu as much as the next person. But I have family there. If Konstantinye attacks Nanyu war could break out and more would suffer."

College student Guan Kuai from Hong Kong says, "I agree that something should be done. Should it be by force? Of course not. Diplomacy and maybe sanctions should be done. Sheng business owns most of the infrastructure in Nanyu anyway don't they? Threaten them with that. If they do anything stupid freeze their assets and blockade them from trade. Simple."

70 year old veteran, Sun Jin declares, "It's none of our business. Let's just let Nanyu collapse. Let Konstantinye do the fighting. Kick them out and pull Nanyu into the Confederacy. Put Yunazite people back in control with King Khoi or whatever his name is. We basically own them already."

Though the method differs, it can be seen that a wide range of people do not like the actions of Konstantinye. It is certainly the hope of the people that this unfortunate conflict be brought to a swift and peaceful end.
