Belhavia objects on the grounds that Neidmar is already a member of OSEN, another global military alliance, and his membership in the CDI would destroy our alliance's exclusivity (by double-dipping alliances) and security interests.
Neidmar is also a police state, and while Neidmar has made "murmurs" of political reforms, until we see such reforms in action, we do not believe Neidmar is suited to the shared values, geopolitics, and ideological foundation that CDI members all broadly enjoy as a close-knit global political community.

The United Republic votes nay based on human rights grounds based on U.R. foreign relations policy. The status of this vote may change given practical policy reforms in the Republic of Neidmar that reflect the fundamental objectives of this alliance. Additionally, the Republic of Neidmar's membership of OSEN brings with it complications in treaty compatibility, presenting potential conflicts of interest that may jeopardize Neidmar's ability to uphold its CDI treaty obligations. Until these issues can be rectified, the United Republic officially vetoes the application.
[OOC: In accordance with CDI application processes, in which a single veto (i.e. nay vote) results in a denial of the application, Neidmar's application is hereby denied. If there is an issue with voting policy, we need to discuss it, but this is the standard precedent we have followed since this thread was started, and until we convene for it to change, that is the standard process.]
