Dismissing issues.

Postby NutzeeKooKoo » Sat Jul 27, 2013 8:21 am

I've noticed that, roughly half the time, the only sensible alternative among those presented for various issues is to dismiss them. Very often, all the alternatives are simply psychotic in the extremism of their response.

That's part of the fun. As the game rolls on, your views tend to be better moulded eventually. It's a matter of perseverance

In that case, change your nation to be insensible and psychotic!

Okay, so, then, the response to this is that I am morally REQUIRED to select one of these psychotic alternatives on every issue? That's just stupid.

Ever consider the possibility that all extremes could be wrong on some issues?

It would be, if anyone ever said that. Pick (or don't pick) whatever choice floats your boat.

Ever consider the possibility that all extremes could be wrong on some issues?

There are no 'right' and 'wrong' choices in the issue pool. If there were, it would defeat the purpose of the game.

Agreed. Especially on Military-related issues. (In a nutshell: Four options. One is a hippy complaining. Another one is a budget cut. Another one is to recruit mercenaries instead. Another one is to increase spending.)

Nutzekookoo: If the available choices seem (what is the formal phrase for it?) oh, yeah... NUTTY to you, just dismiss the issue!

Observe that there is no option to keep spending the same.

The option to keep things the same is "dismiss". All NS issues share that commonality. If you don't want things to change, don't answer issues.

I think, what he means is that he is fed up of dismissing all the issues. Although, yeah, the idea is is that the answers are supposed to be extreme.

Extreme is a relative term. Only some of the issue options are extreme, most are only extreme with respect to historical perspective. If an issue option has a historical precedent then I fail to see why it should be termed extreme rather than historic.

I also fail to see how a number of unattractive options are somehow unrealistic. Sounds as real as it gets to me. What world do you think you live in where laws are clear cut? Fantasy land maybe, go to court and see how clear cut the laws turn out to be. You are usually left with a couple of uncomfortable choices. C'est la vie.

Ive yet to play a MMORPG where ive been able to create and play a toon that is exactly how I perceived it to be throughout its existence so I don't dee why a game as general as NS should be any different and I think some might be asking a bit too much out of this type of game. Most of what you are looking for can be easilty gained by a liberal view of the descriptions and stats of your nation suitably altered to fit your needs. The game offers a great font of information abput your nation you can tailor as you please. Just takes a bit of time and imagination.
- I could RP my big toe to be more powerful than your nation. That doesn't mean it applies in NS
