Imperium of Nations RP (IC/MT/IoN Only)

Postby Zgraja » Sat Jul 13, 2013 6:45 pm

Welcome to the Imperium of Nations RP. This RP is for members of the region only.

OOC: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=249965

Komi, Zgraja

Victor Phire sat in his office when an aid came rushing in.

"Sir have you seen the news?"

"Not yet, why?" Victor replied.

"Sir it seems that the nation of Zgraja has won the election for Minister of defense for the Imperium."

"Excellent." Victor said with a grin. "Where is Roan?"

"Mr. Kyzalski has already made his way to the nation of Kherkov where he will stay during his term in office."

"Very good. Send him my congratulations."

"Yes sir. Right away." The aid said as he left Victors office. Victor sat looking out the window over the grand city of Komi, home to millions of Zgrajans. It was a great day for Zgraja and an even better day for the Imperium.

Gratburg, Kherkov

Roan Kyzalski had just gotten settled into his office in Gratburg after being elected as the Minister of Defense for the region. He knew it was actually the nation of Zgraja that had been elected but he was after all the chosen representative for the Imperial National Front, the political party that his nation was a part of. He quickly pulled his laptop out of his bag and checked his email. Not much new except for an email from King Phire congratulating him on the new position. He stretched out in his chair looking at the time and seeing it was almost noon. Time for him to finally go out and explore the beautiful city of Gratburg.

Gratberg, Kherkov
INF Headquarters

"The cameras are ready?" Halovan straightened his tie. The PBC of Kherkov was getting ready to transmit the Chairman's speech all around Kherkov, and indeed the Imperium. Already nations had risen issues, which Halovan intended to address in this speech. The camera crew raised their hands. "3, 2, 1, live!"

"My comrades in Kherkov and around the Imperium of Nations. Today is a day of celebration, for today the votes came in across the Imperium and the first regional government has been formed. It appears that the INF has come out on top and that I am now the new chairman. I thank all the gracious nations across the Imperium who offered their support, and the rest of the INF does the same.

"Now, it has come to my attention that the Dominion of Mishmahig has accused the INF of rigging elections. This accusation rather shocked me. I do not know what gives you this impression, but I can assure you the INF has not altered the votes. Such an action would be dishonourable and against our nature. We also foresaw little opposition in this election and were confident our policies and campaigns would lead us to victory, and so altering the votes would not even be necessary.

"As for the proposition made by Neros, we find it very interesting. It will be noted and we will have to speak with the Imperial Premier regarding it.

"I will first be working on helping the new ministers as well as setting up the Parliamentary Guard to enforce the safety of the region. The Imperium is beginning its entrance into the golden age. I thank you all."

Wightvian, The Blazing Aura
"Sire, our candidate, Ambassador Blake Peirson got into the position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs" The voice came from a short blond woman who was one of seven sat at the table. Each of the seven represented one part of the ruling class of the Blazing Aura, besides the Emperor himself.
"Thank you for the news Nova." Emperor Thorne I spoke, whilst only in his early thirties Thorne was a well respected leader of his people, young enough to still be in contact with them yet old enough to handle the responsibilities.
"As always Sire." Nova, the blond woman replied, officially she held the title of National Minister, a glorified title that basically meant she was Thorne's right hand woman and the main contact between him and his people.
"The INF put their two candidates into the positions of Chairman and Minister of Defence, whilst another independent, from Ralnis gained the position of Minister of internal affairs." Another woman, this one further down the table, with black hair but a rather similar build to nova spoke up next. Telath was her name, her position being the Minister of Interior Knowledge for the Blazing Aura.
"The fact that the INF have two of the more important positions worries me." A ginger hair man spoke up. "I won't say anything against them but we need to keep a close eye on what they're doing."
"Agreed" Thorne nodded "Thank you Telath for your report and Drake for your... wondrous insight." Drake, the Commanding General of the BAAN (Blazing Auran Army & Navy) was known for always being on the wrong side of paranoid in the Council as the group called themselves, whilst for the most part the meetings between them were serious a couple of jokes were always shot around, a result of the normally hereditary seats falling down the family lines and said heirs often growing up together.
"There is one problem though Sire" Telath continued. "The Dominion of Mishmahig have accused the INF of cheating, although why they would do that when they didn't enter a candidate confuses even me."
"Attention seekers of one kind or another" Thorne dismissed the issue "Now then I believe the next point of this meeting was the trade income report..."

You'll be seeing The Council a lot, here are all 7 of them and their positions
Thorne: Emperor
Nova: National Minister
Telath: Minister of Interior Knowledge (Head of the BAIA (Blazing Auran Intelligence Agency) and the BAPF (Blazing Auran Police Force)
Drake: Commanding General of the BAAN (Blazing Auran Army & Navy)
Kinesis: Fleet Commander of the BAAF (Blazing Auran Air Force)
Clone: Economic Minister
Sonar: Minister of Health

Broadcast Studio No. 7,
Dominion Broadcasting Services, Evenstead,
Dominion of Mishmahig

As the neon sign flickers into action above them, the audience stands and cheers, their shouting and whistling merging into a thunderous cacophony that shakes the entire stage. Bright lights flare into existence, lighting up the stage, and the man who dominates it. A luxurious table, piled high with books and papers, sweeps around a central chair, its back to the crowd. Spinning around, the man fixes the closest camera with a steely-eyed glare, his gaze quickly giving way to a wide smile as he spreads his arms wide, as if to embrace the audience.

"Goooooood evening," he shouts, his voice cutting through the applause and cheering, which redoubled at his appearance. "My name is Norman Leinberg, and this is God's Prime Time, my friends! We have an exciting and, I hope, illuminating show for you tonight, with a special guest appearance by none other than our own leader, Archpriest Baruss!"

He pauses for a beat to allow the cheering, which had, impossibly, doubled again at his announcement, to die down. Smiling cheerfully, he scribbled a few notes in the margins of his papers, mostly his Kherkovian takeout order for dinner.

"Thank you, thank you, ladies and gentlemen, please, please calm down! This is God's Prime Time, hosted by the Dominion Broadcasting Services out of Evenstead---and today, I am speaking to you from a very special studio, Studio Seven. This studio, as you may or may not know, is a joint effort between the DBS and Unity Radio, allowing the Archpriest to make broadcasts to the nation and the region without leaving the Temple."

"Now, now, exciting show, yes, exciting show. As you all know, yesterday, I commented on a report by Penitant Orem, given to the House, regarding the state of the Gallieni Defensive Line between us and the Grand Empire of Halleon. Penitant Orem called for a vast cut-back in the Defensive Line, a move that was greeted with a great deal of opposition by the Preservationists, but applauded by the Dominicans. The Dominican party leader, Penitant Hark spoke briefly on the topic, before re-opening debate on the hydroponic systems of Aecorita. While not officially taking a stance, he indicated his support for the idea, noting that it would free up energy and material that could be put to better use in Lichterde."

"The Preservationists mocked the idea as a drastic cut towards the nation's military, although Penitant Bluhm declined to comment. They were joined by the Bishops of Neustadtten and Sommerbuhl, as well as the Vicars of Clusura and Nemaca, all cities that would be heavily affected by this idea. Given the amount of opposition, it's unlikely that the Dominicans will be able to push this through the House before breaking for Christmas, although they're certainly trying."

"This same session brought about a proposal for a drastic expansion of the hydroponic systems in Aecorita, a move opposed by the neighboring province of Frentatus, as local fishermen fear the intrusion by government-backed corporations may prove to be fatal to their livelihood that they've relied on for centuries. A small protest has sprung up in Westenmarz, although it's not known yet how many are involved, or to what extent they're prepared to go."

"Aaaaaaaaaand now, the moment you've been waiting for," Leinberg said, waving at one wing of the stage, "Archpriest Baruss!"

The crowd leapt to its feet once more and applauded noisily as a middle-aged man, clad in a sky-blue cassock and a dark grey pallium walked onto the stage. His brown eyes coolly examined the audience from behind a pair of glasses, while his calm demeanor broke into a smile as he waved before pulling out a chair and turning to face Leinberg. "A pleasure to be here, Mister Leinberg."

"A pleasure, both personally and professionally, to have you here, Archpriest," Leinberg said, reaching over to shake Baruss' hand. "Now, let's get right to business. You said, in your impromptu speech to a group of reporters on June 12th, that, and I'm quoting here, 'I find it depressing that Chairman Halovan would take such accusations, made with a heavy heart, so lightly. We did not announce our suspicions idly, nor with the intention to cause mischief'. In light of Chairman Halovan's most recent broadcast, sir, how do you view the situation now? Has the Dominion's position changed? Do you intend to take back your accusation?"

"First of all, let me express my congratulations to those ministers not of the Imperial National Front," Baruss said calmly, speaking normally as he considered his words carefully, fully aware that they were being broadcast across the Dominion. "I have the greatest confidence that they do their utmost at the tasks to which they have been elected, and that they will carry out their tasks fully and admirably. My concern, however, arises when we do consider the actions of the Imperial National Front. Two of the most powerful ministries have been seized by an international political party that is not present, in any form, inside the Dominion, a party with nebulous ideals and practices, to say the least. Is it any wonder then, that with so many unknowns and such a level of uncertainty, that concerns rise? Especially when said party wins the election by default? The Dominion, naturally, eschews any involvement within the regional government, relying instead on our own independence and Diplomatic Corps to deal with outside entities for us---but no other nation within the Imperium sought government office? Such an idea is, frankly, ridiculous, and only adds to our suspicions."

"So you don't intend to retract your statements, then, Archpriest," Leinberg pressed, trying to pin Baruss to a specific course of action.

"No, and I repeat my call for a full investigation by independent and outside entities. Chairman Halovan is a member of the Imperial National Front, and to have such a man reject a call for independent verification into possible criminal activity by his own party, well....that's not very reassuring is it?" Baruss said with a slight chuckle before sobering once more. "However, no, the Dominion will not accept the elections as they are, until independent organizations, trusted by the Dominion, sign off on the elections. Until then, we refuse the authority of Chairman Halovan and Minister Kyzalski, as well as any agents or entities acting on their behalf."

"There are some who would call this action rash, perhaps even foolish. They sugges--"

"The Dominion has never stood by idly while wrongs have been enacted," Baruss said, cutting across Leinberg. "Nor have we stood by when there was even a suspicion of wrongdoing. We have always spoken our mind, and fought for what we felt was the right path. All that evil needs to succeed, Mr. Leinberg, is for good men and women to do nothing. The Dominion will not begin turning a blind eye now, not on my watch."

"Thank you, Archpriest," Leinberg said, flipping a page, "and we now consider Penitant Rathes' new Education proposal, backed by the Ministry of Enlightenment. Examining this proposal, Archpriest, both Proverbs 1:22 and Henri 3:1-20 come to mind...."

Ruins of Imperia

Once host of the Capital of the Imperium the City of Imperia had fallen into decay and ruins as mankind had not touch foot on the island for countless decades. The excavation and reconstruction of the City was taking place as construction crews along with survey teams had been dispatched months prior to begin the process of transforming the City back to its Glory. The Premier Dedicus stood on the platform surrounded by guards as he watched the Sleek Black Helicopter make its way towards the island, in the distance the small fleet of ships could be seen that was position around the Island to ensure the shipment of supplies and material was not interrupted. As the Helicopter landed the Primer prepared for what would take place next as this was a unannounced inspection by Emperor Hallicus I himself such a event was not common.

The sight of the Emperor exiting the craft surrounded by a small team of four Praetorian Guards caused the guards on the platform to instantly salute as Premier Dedicus deeply bowed. The Emperor shook the hands of the Premier as he reached his hand out for the folder of reports that had been gathered about Imperia that had been requested. Glimpsing through the various reports while they walked as he then handed the folder to a aide who quickly placed the folder in a brief case.

"Interesting times are happening within the Imperium, elections have taken place even though they were not much of a election, I was somewhat shocked that so few candidates ran for political positions. I believe most if not all of the ministers and the chairmen won their positions by default?"

Primer Dedicus cleared his throat before speaking while the man was usually one of great confidence and strength in the presence of the Emperor he felt weak even though his words resembled the confidence he held within his abilities,"The lack of competition was troubling and even dull however I believe that the Imperium remains in trusted hands of those elected to their positions."

The Emperor slightly smiled as he spoke"The Imperium should only be trusted to the hands of the Premier, the man who I appointed which happens to be you Dedicus, tell me old friend how does that position suit a man of your talents and skills? More importantly how goes the reconstruction of the famed city of Imperia?"

"I believe my skills and talents to be suitable to my position that the my Emperor has entrusted me, however I do miss serving in the Armed Forces of Halleon, I found the service in Military to be a better way of serving the Fatherland,"with a slight pause in his words Dedicus continued,"however serving both Halleon and the Imperium as the Premier ensures that I am able to on a international level to secure the position of the Grand Empire of Halleon within the World,"with a slight nod of the Head the Premier finished speaking.

With a slight bow and then guesting towards the large building the Premier spoke again,"As instructed by his Imperial Highness the Construction Crews work tirelessly to complete the goals set forward by the Empire. I believe Construction Progress will make it possible that our plans can finally be made public?"

Inspecting the building that would serve as a temporary headquarters while speaking,"Very soon the Imperium shall learn of what takes place here, however they will also learn that their support will be appreciated but it will not be begged for. Interesting times we are in Dedicus lets ensure that the Imperium stands the test of time."

Roan sat at his desk watching the last episode of "God's Prime Time". A show many Zgrajans believed to be nothing more than religious jargon. But still, he felt it was best to keep up with affairs of the Imperium and when he had heard that Archpriest Baruss was going to be making an appearance he knew he had to tune in. He sat and watched as the Archpriest spewed his lies about the INF. It was no surprise to Roan that they would go to this level. "Just another ploy for TV ratings" Roan thought to himself. As the show moved away from what the Archpriest was saying about the INF and moving to more religious hullabaloo Roan turn of the show. He turned to his computer and quickly pulled up his email to send a letter.

Chairman,

As I am sure you have seen the nation of Mishmahig has continued their series of lies about the INF. Firstly I would like to say, how can someone rig an election when that person is running unopposed? And now they are calling for outside investigators to field a manhunt against us. I would like to get your thoughts about this unbelievable attempt to attack the reputation of the INF. It seems to me that just because we don't follow their god and have different views they want to make us out to be the bad guy in all this. I am inclined to believe that we need to schedule a meeting between the Imperium Council to get to the bottom of this and clear our name. Thoughts?

Victory Square
Saint Alexander
Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States

Day of the Revolution

The city was all decked out for the celebration of the Day of the Revolution. This feast commemorated the glorious uprising of Alexander Conclador, better known as Saint Alexander, against foreign oppressors. He led the different Commonwealths to victory, combining his excellent leadership and wisdom to unite the different colonies under a single banner. The Day of the Revolution was the second day of Independence months, a month where the people of the Confederacy commemorate the history of their nation. The first day, the Day of Grief and Sorrow, is a day to think about the oppression of foreigners and the stupidity of leaders, together with the people who died in all the Confederacies wars. The Day of Revolution stood in sharp contrast with that day, for it was a day of enormous celebration and military pomp. On Victory Square, almost the entire military showed up to the parade, which usually lasted for ours. The long column of soldiers, marching through the capital, always enjoyed much media coverage from the international community, and the government made sure it was covered as positively as and much as possible.

The Chancellor himself, James Usari, and his ministers, watched the parade from the governmental stand. This stand was devided into three parts. On top was the High Governmental Suite. It was more a penthouse than an actual stand. These people could walk around, watch television, eat and dine as they wanted, and they could peak over the edge and watch the scene unfold. Here, the Chancellor and his ministers sat. They laughed together, spoke, and ate, but they did not mention governmental matters. It was their day off. They talked about history, about grandeur, about the Imperium of Nations… Below them, in a ring surrounding the stand, sat the members of the Medium Government, the House. These were the members of the Senate, the representatives of the People. It was a metaphorical gesture. The Senate was, of course, below the will of the Chancellor and his government. On the stand below that, the third and final level, sat the member of the Lower Government. These were the administrators, the beaurocrats, the governors, the people chosen by the high and Medium Governments to sit there. It usually was a reward for doing your job well, and it came with many benefits. After all, the drinks were free.

And the ceremony began. It started, as always, with a speech from the Chancellor himself. On the top of his stand, he looked at his people, while talking into the microphone in front of him. He looked imposing. His face was partially covered up with a military cap, which also hid his eyes a little, and cast a shadow over his head. His uniform was basically a long grey coat, with some medals on his left side, over his heart. On the right side, he carried a pin in the shape of the Northern Star, also depicted on the flag. With his firm voice and strong rhetoric, he spoke. “Compatriots, people of the Commonwealth! I welcome you to the one hundred and sixtieth birthday of our nation. Our great nation, which has stood the test of time and warfare. Also, the place where we make the best omelettes in the world.” The crowd responded with a laugh, but also with cheering. The Chancellor went on. “It is of vital importance that our nation survives. We are a force to be reckoned with. Our soldiers have fought and died from coast to coast, on every continent of this world. The stable governments we helped established are a living memory that we are better than the nations we’ve crushed under out boot heel. Our economy has flourished, unlike those of communists. We have great freedoms, unlike the fascists. Our government is strong and resolute, unlike the democracies and republics that inhabit this world. And, our power is kept in check, unlike that of the Unlimited Monarchs and emperors. We are strong, and mighty. Together, we will stand the test of time again and again, until everyone in the worlds shouts out ‘Great Confederacy’ in glee! General, begin the parade!”

At that moment, the orchestra began to play the national anthem, Farewell to Slavianka. A voice from a loudspeaker proclaimed the names of the regiments coming by in the parade, starting with the most important. Infantry was up first, as always. “Ladies and gentlemen, the High Confederate Guard!” One regiment of troops started to move. These were clad in red, with yellow details. They carried their weapons, bayonetes attached, pointing forward. Their caps, red, carried the golden star on them. These were the guards of the Chancellor’s Palace which was also the place where the Council of Ministers met. These guards were the guards of the High Government, wherever they went. Even now, the regiment wasn’t complete, for twenty guards were charged with the defence of the council. “The Medium Government Guard!” The next regiment was also a regiment of guards, but this time, they were clad entirely in white. On their white caps, like all soldiers, again, the golden star. These were, however, the senatorial guard. They guarded the Senate House, the place where the senate convened. Like the High Governmental Guard, these guards accompanied them everywhere they went. If a senator wanted to give a speech somewhere, at least five guards went along. These two regiment made up the Governmental Battalion, the best of the best soldiers.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the First regiment of Foot!” Then came the first of the ordinary soldiers. They all carried the same uniform. From the First to the 555th regiments, all soldiers wore black long coats, black caps and H&K G36 assault rifles, bayonets attached. They looked like drones or droids, the way they marched in unison. The Black Men from the North they were called in other countries, even in nations further to the north. Near perfect unison marching, gun after gun, soldier after soldier, regiment after regiment. And that in every major city in the country, at the same time. These men were real soldiers. Hardened, most of them had seen one war or another. The military intervention in Trenepolis not being the least of them. These men, clad in black, struck fear in many a foe and friend. After the infantry came the tanks, the artillery, the vehicles, the nukes, the navy, and the air force. And the enthusiasm with the mob didn’t stop. Every gun threw them in a patriotic frenzy worthy of a song. This nationalism, broadcasted over the world, hid the obvious facts. The current administration, even after five years of power, was still sweeping up the mess made by their predecessors. Hugh Wessely, the Chancellor before James Usari, had turned into a tyrant, butchering half the political machine, and ravaging the land with his uber-communist ideals. The economy was still recovering, and some loyalist cells were still active, even after the imprisonment of the tyrant. Even more so. The situation was dangerous. Assassins lurked around every corner, there were still some communists in the Senate, and the loyalty of every minister had to be questioned. But for now, the country was at peace with itself. As long as it lasted, James Usari enjoyed it. As long as the peace is maintained, he can watch these soldiers march with empty guns. As long as the peace remained, he could see the people cheer. As long as it lasted…
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.
Lack of a real name means compensation through a real face. My debt is settled

"By the Emperor, what are they planning?" Halovan slammed his fist down on the desk as he read the report on 'God's Prime Time'. "Damn Mishmahig. Always has to make a scene. Very well, let us respond. I should expect Roan to be rather annoyed too."

Minister,

While their accusations are absurd and have no base whatsoever, the other nations of the Imperium will most likely be worried. We must assure them that we are a trustworthy government, otherwise the Imperium will fall into chaos already.

I would like to call a meeting with the rest of the Imperial Parliament as well. It would be good to find out what their stance is on the matter as well as finding out what they intend to do whilst in office. They may not be INF but we have no choice but to work with them. Perhaps we could organise this meeting a week from now?

Sincerely,
Chairman William Halovan

"And we're live!" Halovan was once again ready to broadcast. A short cut from the Kherkovian national anthem played.

"My Imperium comrades, it appears that the Dominion of Mishmahig is hell-bent on disrupting the first government of the Imperium, and wishes to pursue the matter of rigged elections further. It baffles me that they are so concerned that we won by default. It seems odd that you would raise such concerns now and not before. Perhaps you should have run yourselves and not rely on your 'Diplomatic Corps'. You may have even been able to convince someone else to run and help them. However, we shall honour your request, and will allow any investigations to take place. We hope you shall also keep to the same standard, and do not try to frame the INF, convincing the Imperium that we did something that we did not. Thank you. " The broadcast ended and the programme switched to the news section.

Things were getting really tense in the Imperium. With the last and first election being questioned, one might not know where this experimental body was going. Such a union had never been tried before, and it wasn’t sure whether it would continue, if it would continue or if to would escalate in a full regional war. With the Dominion questioning the legality of the current government, something had to be done. For this reason, the High Government had called a meeting of the High and Middle Governments to deal with the situation. While the Senate was discussing the problems in the Senate Chambers, the Middle Governmental Palace, the Chancellor and his cabinet were discussing the matters in the High Governmental Palace. This showed how powerless the senate actually was as a body in times of need.

“Gentlemen, we are in trouble” The Chancellor said, with a deep voice. He was wearing his suit, a normality during governmental meetings. In public, he wore his long uniform, but that wasn’t necessary during a High Governmental meeting. “We need to take a stand. We can’t be neutral, our credibility is on the line.” The ministers nodded in agreement. The Confederacy wasn’t exactly the Switzerland of the region. More like the Carthage. Whenever it could, it pushed, using all the military might they could muster. This was one of these times, but a diplomatic problem required a diplomatic solution. The Chancellor already had his plans ready. “Minister Valdrogo, you, as minister of the Exterior, will go to the Dominion to establish a Shadow Cabinet, and an opposition. We must make sure the enemies of the current government find a legal and peaceful way to resolve the problems. I don’t want to go to war with Kherkov.” The minister agreed. These ministers weren’t afraid to go against the Chancellor, they were also powerful in their own respect, but in this, they found the Chancellor to be right. Only one man stood up. The Chancellor noticed him, and, with a gesture from his hand, allowed the man to speak. “Thank you, Chancellor. I fear that we’ll need to wait for the wishes of the Senate, before we start acting. Your idea is sound, but we need the support of the senate, and thereby, the people. It is unwise just to ignore the people, Chancellor.” The man sat down again, and the Chancellor spoke again. “Minister Haggard, I can assure you, this government was built around the ability to ignore the Senate. We are a technocracy, we have all studied for our place. The people ramble, stutter and fall, but we have a deeper understanding. The Senators, the Middle Government, say things to get re-elected. I will not tolerate a populist measure for an international problem.”

The man nodded, and a clerk from the Lower Government approached the table. He was a writer, and it was his task to write down communications from the High Government. Minister Valdrogo of the Exterior had already left for Saint Alexander Airport, where he would take a private flight to Mishmahig. This communication would reach the Dominion in time to warn them of his arrival.

My dearest,
Archpriest Baruss,
Leader of the Dominion of Mishmahig,

Concerning: Shadow Cabinet

It has come to the Chancellors attention that your nation has criticised the current government. While we do not necessarily agree with your points, we do agree that an opposition is needed to keep the balance. For that sole purpose, my Minister of the Exterior, Marx Valdrogo, has been sent to Evenstead to discuss the matter, and to form a Shadow Cabinet and an opposition, to make sure the current government is questioned for their actions. We need to keep things diplomatic, Ferdinand, or unthinkable things might happen. I cannot foresee what is going to happen, so my nation will keep to the fence when going into the mist. I hope we can build a fence, so that other nations might follow it without getting lost.

High Regards,
Chancellor of the Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States,
PhD. Dr. J. B. Usari

When the dispatch was sent, a messenger from the Middle Government came rushing in. Out of breath, he handed his note over to the Chancellor. James Usari read it with interest, before showing it to his cabinet. He read it aloud, for those too far away. "The Senate, representative of the people, advises the High Government to use her neutral position, while increasing the military awareness to Protocol Two levels. Signed, Gaston Trabari, Chairman of the Senate." The chancellor sat back in his chair. "See? Nothing but trouble. They keep the people happy, but should not be allowed to make big decisions. Our government apparatus works for us, so far."

The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

To: General communique across the Imperium
From: Archpriest Baruss, Dominion of Mishmahig
Re: Recent Broadcast of Chairman Halovar

My friends and comrades, I speak to you in a time of great change and upheaval, as our glorious region attempts to reform itself, placing into power systems of governance that have, as of yet, been untried and untested. It is a great fear of my country, and a fear I know that is shared by others, that our nations, our peoples, our cities and provinces, will fall to the power of a foreign invader. We have stood shoulder to shoulder with the Imperium, with our allies and our friends, exerting constant vigilance.

Yet, while we searched and defended against foreign foes, we turned our backs, however momentarily, on our homes. In light of the recent political turmoil of the Imperium elections, and the drastic shift in the balance of power of our region, the Dominion has experienced what must be termed a 'spasm' of doubt. Had we done the correct thing? Had we maintained the proper course, remaining true to our national policy of limited isolationism? Were we on the right path?

For many months, we searched our minds and hearts, and only recently have we come forward with an answer. Regardless of whether or not the Dominion chose the correct course---or even the Imperium as a whole---more information was needed. A spirit of openness and transparency was required, to ensure that no manipulation of our political system could ever occur, or have occurred. It was with that in mind that I made my recent broadcast, in which I challenged Chairman Halovar of Kherkov to throw open the records, to allow national and international organizations to truly verify the results of the past election.

Chairman Halovar did so, but he did so in a spirit that is so anathema to everything the Dominion stands for. He did so because he was forced to do so, not out of a desire to see the truth enshrined for all to see. Even when he open the records, he could not restrain himself from making comments and barbs at our expense---and I say, these are not the actions of someone worthy to lead us. These are not the actions of a true leader, or any leader. These are the actions of a child.

The Dominion sought the truth. We received naught but insults in return. This shall not deter us, however. The Imperium is our region, right or wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.

Until the truth can be verified by the officers of the Sancti iudices Inquisitionis, or the men and women of the Gold Crystal, the authority of Chairman Halovar and other members of the INF shall not be recognized, and any agents or entities acting on their behalf shall be arrested for violating the sovereignty of Mishmahig and its citizens.

Good day, my friends, and may your God(s) bless you.

--Archpriest Baruss

Later that night,
Temple of Unity,
Evenstead, Dominion of Mishmahig

My dearest,
Archpriest Baruss,
Leader of the Dominion of Mishmahig,

Concerning: Shadow Cabinet

It has come to the Chancellors attention that your nation has criticised the current government. While we do not necessarily agree with your points--

"Hah," Archpriest Baruss said, running a hand through his untidy brown hair, where it had begun to fall forward. "He makes it sound like this situation came out of nowhere."

"The poor fellow does seem a bit...surprised, Archpriest," the uniformed general beside him agreed in a low rumble that echoed through the empty office.

"I especially like the part where he sounds so disapproving. I mean, 'has come to the Chancellor's attention'....he almost sounds like a parent, ready to discipline an unruly child."

--we do agree that an opposition is needed to keep the balance.

"Bah! We can tip the balance however we please. Nobody has anything to fear from the Kherkovians!"

"Other than their large army and navy, sir."

".......other than that, yes."

For that sole purpose, my Minister of the Exterior, Marx Valdrogo, has been sent to Evenstead to discuss the matter, and to form a Shadow Cabinet and an opposition, to make sure the current government is questioned for their actions.

"Not that I blame them, the poor sods. This whole business is brand new. Still, this means another conference.... Conferences are dreadfully boring things---everyone there is being as verbose as possible. It's like watching men beat each other about the head with dictionaries and thesauri."

"Still, they are essential to the maintenance of our alliances and the Imperium overall--"

"Not questioning that, General. They may be essential--God knows they're essential---but that doesn't mean they're likeable. Still, I digress. Keep reading. The best is yet to come."

We need to keep things diplomatic, Ferdinand, or unthinkable things might happen.

"Is this a threat?" the general asked incredulously, looking over the paper at the Archpriest, who motioned for him to continue reading.

... I cannot foresee what is going to happen, so my nation will keep to the fence when going into the mist.

"Good God!"

"Indeed, but keep reading, general."

I hope we can build a fence, so that other nations might follow it without getting lost.

High Regards,
Chancellor of the Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States,
PhD. Dr. J. B. Usari

"So things are that bad, eh?"

"Oh, that's just from what he says, general. Reading between the lines, and it goes from bad to rock-bottom."

"....Well...that's certainly not good."

"An understatement, certainly. Goodness only knows what the Penitants will do once they get a hold of this letter. They'll hang it from the ceiling and use it to taunt us every time we try and discuss foreign policy, or the Imperium, or anything in Promethia, for that matter," the Archpriest sighed. "Half of them weren't even happy with joining the Imperium in the first place, and now, with this...it'll certainly bolster their cause. They'll point to whatshisname's comments---Chancellor Usari's, I think---as evidence that the Imperium was a terrible idea all along."

"What do you suggest then, sir?"

"Nothing. We continue preparing, preparing, and more preparing. Oh, and wait for the inevitable conference to begin, which, by the looks of it," the Archpriest said, letting the paper float down to the desk, "won't be long. Then we decide what to do. The Second Fleet is nearly around Nodor, correct?"

"Yes sir. Nearly rounding the Cape at this point. And the Third Militus is being redeployed to the Gallieni Defense Line, in preparation for actions in Ferli, should any nation make a move."

"Until then, we hope Marino can salvage this..."

"Men! At arms!" the commandant yelled, the Landenburgian troopers preparing their weapons.
"Men! Aim!" the commandant yelled again, the troops beginning to aim now.
"Men! Begin the executions! Fire!" the commandant yelled, firing his own handgun off into the massive crowd of Imperium immigrants. The troopers began to fire their automatic and semi-automatic weaponry into the crowd, screams of the dying and those in pain audible. Above in a tower were several snipers, firing at the ones who managed to dodge the regular troopers. Hundreds fell to Landenburgian munitions.
"Men! Attention!" the commandant yelled, seeing no one moving after some time. The firing stopped and the men went into attention.
"From this day forth, Landenburg rules all! Landenburg! Sieg Heil! Sieg Heil!" the commandant began the nationalistic chant, with the troopers following with much enthusiasm.

Julius Snowden, the Fascist Dictator of Landenburg, was surveying maps of Landenburg. He had to pinpoint where the biggest groups of foreigners were and how to take them out successfully. That, is where he got a plan.

Many Landeburgian citizens were retrieving gas masks from the government, stating that it was a precaution. Immigrants had to pay for their own and they were very expensive, so not many could buy them.

Hours later, the Landenburgian air raid sirens began playing. That was the cue for anyone with a gas mask to put it on. After about five minutes, Landenburgian bombers dropped a payload into a highly populated immigrant area. It was named Little Kherkov. May as well name it Smoldering Ruins now, nothing was left standing. Thousands were dead. By now, the people would be hearing of these atrocities. But Julius' plan had worked and instead of being angry and confused, they were happy and proud. Sieg Heils could be heard all across Landenburg.
Alas yonder woman, damn you tempt me with thy saucy bosom
thus methinks I shall bestow my codpiece in thee & make naughty love to my lady all night
Please haste hither & quench this torment fairest maiden

Imperium Emergency Conference
Restored Capital of Imperia

The Members of the Imperium of Nations have convened in the Imperium Capital of Imperia as a Emergency Conference has been issued over the events taking place in the Country of Landenburg. Outrage and Calls for Action has gripped the International Government as Media Outlets throughout the World have Condemned the Dictator Julius Snowden as a War Criminal while images of the chemical genocide have spread like a wildfire throughout the Media and Internet. Forcing the Members of the Imperium of Nation into action as the Conference began with heated debates and cries of outrage were echoed from the protesters that filled the area outside the Building being held back by Riot Police.

"It is a shame and a outrage that the Members of the Imperium have been forced to meet under these circumstances, as we all know the actions that have taken place by the Country Landenburg underneath the Snowden Regime cannot go unpunished. Unleashing Chemical Weapons in Major Population Centers is a War Crime and to make matters worse this attack has been made against every Member of the Imperium, as this attack was made against Citizens of the Imperium who have migrated to Landenburg."

With a press of a button images began to play on the screen behind the Premier Dedicus of men, woman, and children, with bloated faces and other scenes of horror caused by the Chemical Attacks. The scenes had burned in the minds of people throughout the World as the Media had gotten a hold of the images.

"For those that wish to defend Landenburg, the question must be asked that why were these innocent men, women, and children denied the chance to flee for the safety of their life's? Normal and Sane leaders along with their Countries simply deport immigrants or take more humane measures when dealing with the Citizens of other Countries. Resorting to Chemical Attacks is not only inhumane but a complete disregard for International Law. The Country of Landenburg issued no warnings or signs that such a attack would take place and it only shows the Insanity that has developed within the Snowden Regime.

Some form of action must take place to remind those that would commit such acts that they will not do so with free reign and they shall escape justice or retribution from their victims. It has been a Policy of the Administration of the Imperium to avoid intervening with the affairs of the Members of the Imperium however in cases such as these it is no longer possible to avoid intervention. The World demands action and it cannot be denied unless we risk a complete state of chaos throughout the International Community. As Premier of the Imperium, I call for intervention and shall advocate for Military Action!"

Finishing his speech as he retook his seat as his eyes fall on the Halleon Delegation, he had already communicated with Emperor Hallicus who had promised Military support if it came to it and would also be advocating for Military Action however Dedicus had to wonder if the reasons for Halleon Intervention were purely for humane reasons or just the usual signs of Halleon Militarism.

Hans Schwarzburg, the dwartzurian representative in the conference, rose from his seat. His expression was stern. From under his massive mustaches, his voice came as a thunder.

"The opinion of the government of Dwartzur is very simple. We agree with what our comrade from Halleon just said. We can not allow such an act to happen right in front of us and idly sit and watch. This was a crime against humanity, and must be severely punished! It is our people that are dying out there! Sons and daughters of our nations being massacred as insects! If you have love for your people, my friends, then you must understand what we're saying - intervention is the only way out of this! We can not let this monster grow. We must march into the beast's lair and exterminate this threat! We support a military action against Landenburg."

Hans sat back on his chair, nodding as a sign that he had finished his speech.

Someone knocked on the door. "Come in." said Phillip. His secretary, Constance, opened the door and walked inside. She looked to the king. He was sitting on a chair in front of his desk, facing the computer. Constance blinked. He was playing...

"World of Warcraft...?" said her.

"Eeeeyup. I'm just enjoying peace while we still have it. Got a problem with that, Constance?" he said, though he kept looking to the computer's screen.

"Uhh... n-n-n-no, I just... didn't think you play... I... Do you want to raid the Forge of Souls with me later?"

"...Sure. What was the reason for you to come here, again?" This time, he turned to Constance's direction.

"Ah! Of course... you have a meeting with General Waldmann in..." She checked her watch. "...five minutes."

"Agh, I completely forgot... Alright, thank you Constance. Just give me a moment to wear something better... Forge of Souls later, right?"

The woman bowed her head and walked out of the room.

Imperium Emergency Conference
Imperia

Perhaps the most bizarre combination of tradition and technology entered the room as the Imperial Chairman walked through the doors. Wearing a Victorian-style suit, he looked like he had been plucked out of the 19th-Century Palace of Westminster. But he carried with him a touchscreen tablet, the other delegates with laptops and phones of all sorts, however they were all rather modern gadgets. The Kherkovians sat at their seats, and Chairman Halovan, in stark contrast to his touchscreen marvel, pulled out a golden pocketwatch to check the time. Sliding it back in his pocket, he looked over to see if he could see any Viperian, Leonian, or Damilissan delegates. He hoped to speak with them, as well as the Zgrajan delegates. The Emperor had put high trust in Halovan with his role as Chairman of the Imperium, as well as making him the head of the INF. Failure was overruled.

Of course, the meeting started with a speech from the Halleonian main delegate, and he addressed the issue that they had all been called here for: the situation in Landenburg. Not surprisingly, he advocated military action toward Landenburg. Seconding his motion was the delegate from Dwartzur. Halovan didn't expect this from him, but then, what had he expected? He dismissed the thought as he began to deliver his speech.

"The time we live in is a time of uncertainty, of unrest, of violence. Rogue nations arise and fall, and the citizens are always in perpetual strife. A perfect example has been set by Landenburg, slaughtering not his own citizens, but those of other nations. Particularly, an area harbouring many Kherkovians. Whilst by Kherkovian law they would have been imprisoned or... perhaps executed, it is by Kherkovian law and Kherkovian law only that their punishments should be put in place. Kherkov and the Emperor are outraged at the actions of Landenburg, and we shall only be satisfied when this nation is trampled into the dust and this Snowden has his head detached from his body! As Chairman of the Imperium of Nations, I endorse military action and confirm that Kherkov shall join this action. Glory to the Imperium, Glory to Kherkov!" Applause erupted from the Kherkovian delegation as Halovan reassumed his seat, straightening his tie and collar, before taking his tablet in hand to write notes once more.

The People's Empire of Kherkov
Gratberg

The capital was swamped with soldiers and civilians. Parading around the streets were the Kherkovian soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Tanks rolled down the street along with trucks, self-propelled guns, and all manner of military vehicles. On the sides of the road stood thousands of civilians, of all ages, waving Kherkovian flags and saluting the soldiers. The Great March played in the background, honouring the military and their numerous accomplishments. The soldiers goose-stepped in perfect unison, not a single toe was out of line. They did not waver in the cold Kherkovian snow.

The tune changed to the national anthem as the Emperor came down the road in his private car with the Consort and his children. He smiled and waved as the populace sung along to the anthem, and waved their flags even more furiously than before. The car eventually reached the stage, which was surrounded by guards. The Emperor moved to the podium and stood by the microphone. Silence fell as he began to speak.

"My comrades. Today is a day of sorrow, as we weep for those slaughtered in Landenburg. The cruel dictator Snowden has used gas and other inhumane methods to execute civilians that were not even his." The crowd jeered slightly, before returning to silence as the Emperor began to speak once more. "Unfortunately, not all have the privilege of living in our glorious nation. But Kherkov will not stand idly by as Landenburg commits atrocities! Our proud military stands before you today, my comrades, a testament to our might!" The crowd cheered and continued to as the Emperor continued, "The day shall be ours! Revenge shall be ours! And we shall have Snowden's head! Let the parade commence!" With the end of the Emperor's speech, his house's personal march boomed through the speakers, as the citizens rejoiced, and the Hate Parade began.

A Landenburgian flag rose up as the citizens jeered at it. Soldiers marched up to it, one carrying a torch. He kneeled and set fire to the flag, which became engulfed in flames. At this, the people cheered and the soldiers flanking it saluted. Citizens were directed to set ups around the capital's centre, with effigies of Snowden being beaten by the populace. This activity was particularly popular with the children, who laughed with delight as they beat the dummy, which had some sort of red liquid flowing out of it with every hit. The Hate Parade was a common event to rile the populace before a conflict.

The Emperor looked over the scene from his palace balcony, watching the flag burnings and beatings, and he smiled. The people began to shout:

"KHERKOV ÜBER ALLES! KHERKOV ÜBER ALLES! KHERKOV ÜBER ALLES!"

Emergency Imperium Conference, Restored Imperia

The Viperian delegate had sat by and listened for long enough. Standing and beginning speaking, out of turn in the opinions of some others, he began in an impolitely loud voice. "This attack is an outrage! Kherkov our friend, neighbor and long time ally, as well as many other nations including our own great Viperia, have had their citizens violently attacked and without provocation of any form. Though few in number Viperian citizens were killed in some of these attacks, and frankly Premier Viper takes each death as a personal failure, it is his duty to protect his citizens wherever they may make their home, but their home has betrayed them and it is up to Viperia to demand retribution. The Premieralty of Viperia fully supports military action in Landenburg and is fully prepared to send whatever force is neccesssary to aid Kherkov, avenge Viperia and its allies' murdered citizens and bring Landenburg, and Snowden, to justice." Standing at 6 foot 7 inches tall the man still towered of those around even seated, he was alone at the conference but he still emitted power and authority, Viperia's stance on the matter was made clear, this crime would be punished, harshly.

Premieral Palace Square, Viperia

The Imperium of Nations conference was televised all over Viperia. The Viperian delegates speech was led by nation-wide applause. Viper smiled to himself, he had chosen well. Prior to the delegates outburst Viper had set in motion a process of inciting support for military action in Landenburg. The entire strike force set for Landenburg had already marched through several cities, going via a longer route so more cities were passed, every citizen in every city passed cheered with pride at the sight of the Viperian Liberation army's bravest and strongest soliders. Armoured units were paraded in front of the palace and jets flew overhead all through out the nation and getting slowly louder the Viperian Victory march boomed through the nations speakers. Elsewhere the Premier made the final checks on his most advanced and most deadly weapon, Operation Striking Venom. All that had been seen of it by another's eye's other than Vipers was the seal on the envelope.

Imperium Emergency Conference,
Imperia

"Well," Penitant Rathes said, standing up, "I was hoping it wouldn't come to this, but, unfortunately, it has. The Dominion of Mishmahig joined the Imperium of Nations, as you all know, reluctantly, and we have watched with great fear and mistrust as the international government of the Imperium has grown, in leaps and bounds, until it threatened the national sovereignty of every nation within our fair region. Our rights have been infringed upon, our actions held to random, and often hypocritical, standards, our government criticized at every turn. When we attempt to air our concerns, both within Conferences and publicly, we are attacked viciously at every turn---if I may, I note that the issue of the recent elections has still not been resolved to the Dominion's satisfaction."

"We have attempted to be patient, waiting for others to come about to our point of view. We have bitten our tongues when scolded, have held back when threatened, have shown nothing but reason and logic. Sadly," he continued, "the general situation has deteriorated to the point where even the Dominion must act."

"As of now, the Dominion of Mishmahig withdraws from the Imperium of Nations. All IoN organizations are barred from entering our borders, or operating on Mishmahigian soil. No longer recognizing the authority of the IoN, we will not support any further regional operations, and we withdraw our support, fully, from any operations that are currently ongoing. Individual treaties between member nations remain intact, however, although any and all that recognize the authority of the Imperium government are hereby struck null and void."

"Ladies and gentlemen, I bid you adieu, and I believe that this tune may be appropriate for the situation," he said, nodding to an aide who flicked on a screen. As sound filled the room, the Mishmahigian delegation quickly packed up and, led by the Penitant, left to return to the Dominion.

It would be a long time, if ever, that the Dominion returned to the Imperium.

Imperium Emergency Conference,
Imperia

Nova looked around at the other delegates that had attended from the other nations, whilst this wasn't her first journey outside The Blazing Aura it certainly was to an international meeting of this scale. The atrocities committed by Landenburg had affected only a few Auran citizens however it was enough for the council to sit up and decide that regardless of the outcome of this council a revenge attack would be launched, the Blazing Auran Navy was ready to leave it's moorings and head out, the Fleet Air Arm squadron (or the 21st as it was more commonly called) would be the ones to actually launch the attack but the rest of the navy was headed out for support.

The Dominion's speech broke Nova out of her thoughts. "So instead of standing with the rest of us they show their true colours and run like cowards." she muttered to herself, perhaps a tad louder than she meant, "I hope for their sake that their military uniform includes brown trousers."

Looking around at the remaining delegates Nova spoke, and stood up "We Aurans will stand with the rest of the Imperium that has spoken thus far, our navy is on standby, one word away from sailing on Landenburg and launching it's full power upon the nation. For those who are not knowledgeable with the Auran forces and thereby may think this is overkill need not worry for the navy is the smallest of our armed forces." Whilst not displaying complete outrage like others at the council Nova spoke with a clear, determined voice, a hint of venom lay underneath it all, almost as if she wanted anyone else there to challenge her. "Beyond a revenge strike the Council is currently split on what actions should be taken further, although do not be surprised if more of our Forces move against Landenburg." Sitting down again Nova looked around the room once again, waiting for the next speech to begin.

Outside of Belica

Bunkers and other things that would be needed were being built, as Snowden had commanded it. He knew that Landenburg would have to fight a guerrilla war and that he best be prepared for it. Surveying over the natural beauty of Landenburg, a nation noted for it along with tourism, Snowden knew that all would come to an end. Looking over at one of his advisers, he said "Begin the Coastal and Aerial preparations. We must make it a hell for anyone daring to come into Landenburg.", with that the adviser ran off to do as commanded. Immigrants were building the trenches and bunkers, not a surprise there. Looking over, Snowden saw one taking a break. Angrily he stormed over. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?!" he yelled. The immigrant responded with "But I've worked hard the past 16 hours! I need a break sir!". Angrily Snowden pulled out a handgun and just shot the immigrant. Looking over at the ones that had stopped working to watch he screamed "Get back to work and let this be a lesson!".

Emergency Imperium Conference
Imperia

Upon hearing the Auran Delegate's muttered comment, Halovan chuckled. He was pleased that Mishmahig had decided to take the stance that it did. The INF's main enemy was now having a tantrum in the Imperium Conference Hall and quitting regional politics. It was a huge plus. Looking around the room, he noticed the Britcani delegation had been rather silent. Given their isolationist stance, he wasn't surprised. However, they would be a useful ally, and it was time to see if they would repay their debts. He sent a message to the Emperor via the tablet. Now he simply had to wait for the Britcani delegate to make a move. The natural efficiency of Kherkovians would ensure that the Emperor sent a message to King Matthew almost immediately, but could he rely on the Britcanis as much? "Time will tell." he muttered silently.

Soldiers saluted as the Emperor ascended the palace stairs, light reflecting off his many medals. A servant hurried down the stairs and bowed as he approached the Emperor. "Your Imperial Majesty, a message has come through from Halovan. He stated the Britcani delegate has not spoken yet, and that this may be a good time to test their loyalty." The Emperor nodded. "Go and start up the computer. I need to begin writing immediately."

Official Kherkovian Imperial Communiqué
Encryption Level: Medium

To: His Royal Majesty King Matthew II of the Kingdom of Britcan

I bid you warm greetings, my western neighbour.

No doubt you will have heard of the recent events in Landenburg. Many civilians were slaughtered, including many Kherkovians. Britcani immigrants may have been among the casualties, or perhaps holidaymakers. We notice you have not yet taken a stance in the conference. I hope that you will do the right thing, and act in the name of justice once more. I pray for my soldiers to fight side by side with Britcanis like they did against Syrakhstani scum months back.

Many Thanks,
His Imperial Majesty Emperor Zachary I of The People's Empire of Kherkov.

"No doubt the King will make some sarcastic comment upon reading this email..." the Emperor muttered to himself. He knew Britcanis. But he didn't care as long as it got Britcan to join the fight.

The Emperor put his hands behind his back, and looked out over the populace, still chanting. He put his hands behind his back, and sighed, muttering to himself: "Time to test their loyalty."

“And why should we care, exactly? Landenburg may be different from us, but their domestic problems are theirs. Why should we lose Confederate lives protecting… nothing of our concern! We should back off, and we should protect Landenburgian neutrality at all costs in the Imperium of Nations! Against all those who wish to bring down and subjugate an independent state! For the people of the Commonwealth!”

The senate cheered in agreement. Swiftly they rose after the words of their com-patriot, who had spoken fiercely against intervention in Landenburg. Which was to be expected, these senators needed to be re-elected, and the people didn’t like war for other people. This certainly was a very popular statement to make. Especially because of the nature of the meeting. Today, the Middle Government met up with the High Government, in an emergency session regarding the crisis. Although the High Government had her plans ready, it was always useful for the popularity ratings to listen closely to the elected Middle Government. Unlike the Higher Government, these people were elected directly by the people, and they were the representatives. Certainly, Chancellor Usari needed a boost in his popularity. The media had been criticising him for not being hard enough on the past regime, which had been a brutal dictatorship. It fell only years ago, and people were still screaming for the heads of the perpetrators. Usari kept to his opinion that these people needed his protection like any citizen, and he gave them ordinary jail time, as the judges commanded. It wasn’t popular, and there were talks in the Middle Government to vote him away, something they could do with a supermajority.

But the High Government was not pleased at all. They wanted a victory. They needed to invade something, to show how harsh the Chancellor could really be. James Usari needed to be a professor, a teacher, a leader, a mediator, a sportsman, a knight, and a general. For the last part, he wasn’t ready. Under his command, the GCCS Navy and Red Barets had done some interventions in smaller states, but nothing close, regional and big. So, this was a good opportunity for the Chancellor to show his skill as a military commander. Therefore, the reaction of the senate could have been expected. Chancellor Usari didn’t really like to listen to the senate, and the senate wanted more power. But the people loved him, and they couldn’t do anything about him. If Usari fell enough in the ratings, they could throw up a vote to replace him with one of their lackeys. But Usari didn’t take kindly to this. After all, he’d rebuilt the Confederacy on the ashes of the old dictatorship, and he wasn’t planning to let go anytime soon. So, after the senator had completed his speech, and the cheering had settled down, he stood up, and raised his hand. Immediately, the room went dead silent. Everyone dropped to their chairs, as this man, tall, in his suit, stood before them. No matter how often you looked, he still looked imposing to you. These hundreds of representatives just looking at him, waiting for him to speak. These images would do well with the populace.

“Doctor Handrianus, I appreciate that you have given your opinion to us. However, there is no power on earth that can stop me from approving an intervention in Landenburg. Our constitution commands it: Article one, section one, point two: A citizen of the Great Confederacy of Commenwealth States is anyone of our culture group that lives within our borders, or somewhere else. The expatriated citizens there are our brothers, and protected by law. The constitution, which I vowed to uphold, must be executed. I appreciate any effort made to stop this from happening, but it is unstoppable. Within the week, the fleet will sail. The intervention will be swift and brutal. Again, the constitution must be upheld. I hereby vow to save every last survivor in Landenburg from worse fait.”

This speech made headlines in the Confederacy. “CHANCELLOR OUR TO BRING CONFEDERATE JUSTICE” was on the front page of the Saint Alexander Times. The next day, the nation read about the plans for war, with mixed feelings. Some were negative about the war, with all her destruction, but some were jubilant. This Chancellor would uphold the constitution whatever the costs, which became a definition on itself. James Usari, anti-dictator. The balance in our nation’s history. That became his new nickname, the anti-dictator, or just The Anti. Opposite to what the Middle Government expected, it gave him a sudden rise in popularity. As his figures rose, the senate popularity dropped, as this was a humiliating defeat. “Traitors to our constitution” and “the Next Dictators?”. The tabloids wouldn’t shut up about them. Every day, there was some article about dictatorial senators and shady deals, while the chancellor was lifted above everything, as an atheist messiah himself.
The name's James. James Usari. Well, my name is not actually James Usari, so don't bother actually looking it up, but it'll do for now.

The Royal Place, Britcan

King Matthew II carefully read the message from the Kherkovian Emperor. Word had, of course, already reached him about the crimes occurring in Landenburg and Britcani experts were already going over all the data they had at their disposal in order to determine if Britcani citizens were being harmed. Landenburg wasn't a place that many Britcanis visited and what they could tell none of the few Britcanis there had been killed. However it was estimated that between 2600 and 2900 persons with Britcani citizenship were in Landenburg and that at least 1200 of them had been detained. It was clear that the Emperor wished to combat the problem militarily, that was just how the Kherkovians did things, however the King was willing to at least try a diplomatic option. If he could bring his people home then he wouldn't need to drag his nation into another war. He sent a message to his delegate at the conference, instructing him on what to say to the other delegates.

Emergency Imperium Conference, Imperia

The Britcani delegate rarely got involved with the affairs of the Imperium, usually just sitting back and silently observing the proceedings. Britcan had taken an isolationist stance in recent times, preferring to stay out of the petty squabbles of other nations and instead focussing on improving the lives of it's people. However, this particular incident meant that Britcan would have to get involved, for the sake of it's citizens. The delegate rose and began to make a rare speech.

"As many of my fellow delegates have stated this is a very serious matter that effects us all. However, unlike some of my more..." He glanced at the Kherkovian delegation. "Hotheaded colleagues I am not about to call for out war as of yet. The primary concern of the Britcani government is the safety of it's people, no matter where in the world they may be. From what evidence we have no Britcanis have been killed as of yet, but we have good reason to suspect that a number of our people are still being detained despite committing no wrongs." He looked directly at the delegation from Landenburg. "Our demand is simple: All Britcanis currently within Landenburg must be returned unharmed to Britcan." He paused, letting what he had said sink in. "If these demands are not met then we will be forced to consider more drastic measures." With that the delegate sat down once again, looking over at the Kherkovians to gauge their reaction.

This nation should not be taken to be representative of my real-life views, nor should any of the nonsense I posted on here as a teenager.

Imperium Emergency Conference
Imperia

Chairman Halovan heard the speech, shook his head, and sighed. "Bloody liberals," he muttered to himself, "mention war and they wet their pants." Not wanting the Britcani military to sit idly by while there was a war going on, he stood up to speak once again.

"It seems that the more selfish nations in the room -- oh, my apologies, I believe they prefer the term "isolationist" -- care only about their citizens, and not the lives of anyone else." He flashed a look at the Britcanis, before continuing to speak calmly. "This is an Imperium-wide issue. Citizens from all over the Imperium will have been in Landenburg at the time of this genocide, legally or illegally, and some will have had more citizens there than others. Those intervening to protect the lives of all Imperium citizens, as well as its own -- the "hotheaded" nations -- should be the ones that have their example followed. While military action may have repercussions on the Imperium citizens in Landenburg, there is no reasoning with this Snowden. It is better to take action now then try in vain to have Snowden hand over our citizens. All the time we will be pleading will just mean more time for him to execute our people." He paused before beginning to speak again, this time facing the Britcani delegation. "I remember a Britcan that once fought honourably to save the lives of innocent citizens from invading dictatorial regimes. What has happened to that nation?"

Retaking his seat, Halovan knew that there was a slim chance Snowden would bow to international pressure. It was highly unlikely, he seemed like an insane man, but if the region gave him time to think then the plan could be ruined. Acting now would mean reaping greater benefits later.

Imperium Emergency Conference
Imperia

The Landenburgian delegates were similar to the Britcanis, usually keeping to themselves. They were content to sit there and watch many delegates make fools of themselves in front of the Imperium. It was rather pleasing. However, at the Kherkovian outburst and the Britcani request, they had enough. One standing up, a relative of Snowden, stood up. "Now, the events in Landenburg are as you would say "saddening", but in Landenburg we patriotic citizens view this as the purification of Landenburg. We all in Landenburg hold the belief that one who leaves their home country lose all benefits from being from that country. If you want your "citizens" you may only have to ask. However, note this, Landenburg will continue with her Purification. Sieg Heil!" with that, the Landenburgian diplomat sat back down.
Alas yonder woman, damn you tempt me with thy saucy bosom
thus methinks I shall bestow my codpiece in thee & make naughty love to my lady all night
Please haste hither & quench this torment fairest maiden

Victor Phire sat quietly listening. He had heard enough. Lands burg had gone to far and victor could not allow this to continue. It was true that the amount of Zgrajans living in Landenburg was extremely small but he could not allow his people to be treated this way. He stood and spoke.

"Delegate from Landenburg. I will make this very easy on you. You have 24 hours to release all prisoners you have take or else I will unleash everything I have on you. This is not an idle threat." With that Victor say down and began typing a message back to Zgraja with instructions to mobilize his entire military.
