North Lukonian Military Movements:

The North Lukonian Forces on the Plains (2 armored division, 2 mechanized divisions) advance is hampered by South Lukonian air raids, yet they attempt to maintain momentum, driving towards Lato (the coastal city) at full speed, attempting to keep the South Lukonian Forces off balance and not give them any time to reorganize. Meanwhile on the Eastern and Central fronts in the woodland, North Lukonian Forces (3 infantry divisions) maintain dug in positions, repulsing the South Lukonian probing attacks yet not inflicting much casualties due to the small size of these skirmishes. The Lukonian 1st airborne brigade is also put on standby behind the central and eastern fronts, thought its not yet committed to any actions. 1st and 2nd Marine brigades are moved southward as well, thought it will take time for them to reach the more southern port there being deployed to. Other forces behind the front lines stay in position, thought the 2nd armored division is moved south in case it is needed in the front lines.

As the information of a no fly zone comes in, the air force is recalled and grounded until further notice.

The North Lukonian fleet places itself out of range of South Lukonian Shore batteries and fleet, and begins a loose blockade while monitoring the opposing fleets movements carefully.

As of 00:00 hours on Friday, the 19th of April, 2030, a no-fly zone is declared in the airspace of both the State of Lukonia and the United Lukonian Socialist Republics, endorsed by the Federal Republic of Ironcastle and the North Moneylania Federation. Aircraft of the Federal Republic are ordered to intercept any unauthorised aircraft inside the no-fly zone, and will respond to any threats with immediate and overwhelming force.

South Lukonian Military Movements:

The moment the no-fly zone is announced, South Lukonia begins using all available planes to deal as much damage as possible to northern armour and bunkers before it can take effect, particularly in the easternmost parts of the Western Plains and the western part of the forest. Super Tucanos are deployed in areas likely to have advanced AA systems, and Tomcats are kept out of range, keeping ground attack planes in their sight and preparing to engage any northern aircraft before they can reach the Tucanos, Phantoms and Aardvarks. Preparations are made to quickly land all planes just before the deadline. With the ongoing air support, the forces deployed to the western part of the forest (4 infantry divisions) begin attacking the outnumbered defenders in the forest, trying to push them back with overwhelming firepower and numbers, although the forested nature of the battlefield does somewhat reduce the effectiveness of air support. The 1st mechanised divison pulls back to prepare a defensive line behind the two armoured divisions that are being pushed back in the plains. Militias are formed in Lato, where makeshift fortifications to hamper both naval and ground assaults are also being prepared. All available reservists are called up throughout the nation, as a war economy is declared. An official statement by the government declares the no-fly zone to be an illegal act that "furthers the evidence of overwhelming communist influence in Ironian and Bananish politics", and requests that other powers such as Platacia, Sibaria and Xianuan denounce it.

Pursuant to World Assembly Resolution #6 (Humanitarian Transport) and World Assembly Resolution #186 (Medical Provisions in Blockade), the Federal Republic of Ironcastle will not attempt to prevent the movement of activities of purely humanitarian groups into and out of either the State of Lukonia or the United Lukonian Socialist Republic. However, any attempt to undermine said Resolutions will result in immediate prosecution in the Moneylania Council. In addition, the Federal Republic recommends that any and all humanitarian convoys be clearly marked with both visible and infrared markers to avoid misidentification by belligerents.

For clarification, the No-Fly Zone enforced by the Ironian Federal Air Force applies only to the airspace above both Lukonian nations. Surrounding nations are not subject to the No-Fly Zone.

Orders to the North Lukonian Military

With the attack of the 4 South Lukonian infantry divisions commencing the defending 2nd infantry division is set in a difficult situation, and begins a slow retreat but attempts to keep it organized. To this end, it keeps the defenses prepared pre-war in an attempt to slow down the enemy, in conjunction to utilizing booby traps and other ambushes in the woodland terrain. All 4 divisions in the rear including the 2nd armored called to halt the enemy offensive, preparing a defensive line behind the second infantry division. The 2nd mechanized division is also diverted to secure the flank of the offensive, with the 1st and 3rd armored divisions continuing the offensive along with the 1st mechanized, now free of South Lukonian air attacks due to the no fly zone,. The more ambitious plans are however scrapped in favor of a morel limited footing, with the capture of Lato being made priority, and establishing a front line afterwards. To this end, 1st and 2nd marine brigades are pulled in to support the attack on Lato. 4th and third infantry division maintain there positions and dig in.

While all the reserve have already been called before hand with the mobilization, the economy is put officially on war footing and rationing is implemented.

The North Lukonian government states that while it regrets that the no fly-zone had to be established, they welcome this as a sign that the Moneylanian council cares for the plight of the Lukonian people, and give signs of deeper cooperation should the war be won. They also sharply note how the South Lukonian government seems to lack this care for its people considering there opposition to the no fly zone.

South Lukonian Military Movements:

The two Armoured divisions in the plains slowly pull back to take defensive positions at the defensive line prepared by the mechanised Division, and all three divisions attempt to halt the Northern advance. In the western edge of the forest, three of the four attacking infantry divisions continue their assault, trying to advance as fast as possible to keep the enemy off-balance, while the fourth secures their flanks. In the eastern forest, the rest of the Infantry continues minor skirmishing with opposing forces. The defenses in Lato continue to be improved, with resources being diverted there from civilian construction projects throughout the country, and strict rationing is implemented both in Lato and across the nation. The Southern Navy is now being used almost solely to defend Lato.

Orders to the North Lukonian Military

As the 3 South Lukonian division advance the 2nd infantry division finally reaches the defensive lines set up by the divisions pulled from the reserve (2 infantry, 1 mountain, 1 armored) and join them in digging in to put a stop to the enemy attack. Near Lato, the 2nd and 1st marine brigades as the attack on the city is starting. While armored units attempt to cut off the Lato but primarily establish a new defensive line facing the south Lukonian one, the 1st mechanized division is ordered to attack the city. As this begins, the 1st and second marine divisions also do the same, advancing along the coast to destroy any shore batteries. Elsewhere, the North Lukonian forces hold position.

The air force stays grounded.

The navy is ordered to engage the South Lukonian one near Lato once the shore batteries have been confirmed destroyed.

In the small town of Rauma, Northern South Lukonia.

The Youthsville Pact Humanitarian Aid Corps has sent a mission from its main outpost in Harjavalta, near the border of Vasil. Major Vukovic is in charge of the small operation in Rauma, tasked with the evacuation of civilians from the area.

Vukovic: Attention, civilians of Rauma. We have been advised from your government to evacuate you from the area. We advice you follow our orders and you will all be transported to the closest airport where you will be taken to Harjavalta to be safely held until the situation here turns more favorable.

Civilian: What about our homes? What about friends and families in nearby villages?

Vukovic: Other groups have been tasked with their evacuation.

Civilian: But why would we move further south? We are perfectly situated away from major cities so we don't have much association with our tyrannical federal government!

Vukovic: Citizen, we do not have time for this. Follow us to the trucks where we can....

Civilian: No! I do not want to go where we are at risk of being questioned, interrogated and killed at the hands of our government. They have killed too many of our brothers and sisters, both in the North and South! We are all Lukonians!

Vukovic: I understand that, but if you don't hurry, who knows how long until this village is bombed or overun!

Civilian: So be it!

Vukovic: Well then, seems like we are here for a long stay....

Meanwhile, in the secure and top secret headquarters of the Op40.

Kozlov: Report.

Director Mason Rortekchavic: Sir, we have an encrypted message from the South Lukonians to investigate possible stolen plans by five Ironian diplomats.

Kozlov: They want us to investigate?

Rortekchavic: Yes.

Kozlov: Something about this doesn't seem right.

Rortekchavic: I believe we can gain some good information from both the Lukonians and the Ironians.

Kozlov: You think?

Rortekchavic: Yes. I think we should send Agent Hawk and two C.O.O.K.S personnel to investigate.

Kozlov: Agreed. Get him on a plane within the hour.

Rortekchavic: Yes, sir.

South Lukonian Military Movements:

The infantry forces advancing in the forest halt their advance, and two divisions instead begin harassing the flank of the armoured and mechanised units in the plains, and making larger assaults when feasible. The other two divisions that were previously attacking entrench to prepare to defend against a northern counterattack. The armoured divisions continue to defend against the northern advance, with one devoting significant forces to prevent the encirclement of Lato. In the city, militia forces employ guerrilla tactics in an attempt to deal as much damage to enemy forces as possible, while regulars and reservists in the city defend previously established defensive positions. Minor skirmishes are continued throughout the forests, but only when the conditions seem favourable. As many civilians as possible are evacuated from Lato, as well as other population centres under threat of occupation.

Official Declaration from the United Empire of Platacia

In the interest of protecting civilian shipping, and the individuals residing in coastal areas of Lukonia, the United Empire of Platacia has seen fit to issue the following declaration. Any instance of a military vessel belonging to any of the warring parties involved in the current conflict in Lukonia that travels within 100 nautical miles of coastal territory belonging to another nation, or fires on another vessel, will be viewed as performing a direct attack on Platacia, and dealt with appropriately. Please note that this declaration is backed by the full force of the Platacian Imperial Navy and has the support of the people of Platacia, Seabersia, Kartof and Lukonia, as well as their leadership.

The Platacian fleet stationed in Kartof is put on standby, and a carrier battlegroup is being prepared to be dispatched from Platacia.

Pursuant to WA General Assembly Resolution #168 (Law of the Seas), Platacia is in violation of Section 2. Platacia has no right to enforce its laws within the national territory of another, sovereign state, thousands of kilometres from its own seas. Ironcastle will conduct Freedom of Navigation exercises in the waters Platacia claims it is 'protecting'. Should Platacia fire upon any non-aggressive ship (determined to be non-aggressive by Ironcastle), Ironcastle will take that as an attack upon international trade, national sovereignty, MATO, and itself.

In addition, failure to retract the official declaration issued at 22:30 on the 4th of May, 2030 by 22:30 on the 6th of May, 2030 will result in the application of sanctions on Platacia by the Federal Republic.

Seas off the coast of Lukonia, Crusader-class supercarrier ICS Wyvern

Pliots have just received new orders: take off immediately, and fly towards the Platacian battlegroup near Kartof. Ironian aircraft are to fly as close as possible to the ships, but hold fire unless fired upon. En route, they will maintain stealth until the last possible moment.

Within minutes, the F-35C Lightning II fighters are in the air and are en route directly towards the Platacian fleet.

The Imperial Navy’s intervention in Lukonia is entirely humanitarian, and will only use force if another party creates a situation where it is necessary. No civilian vessels will be fired upon or otherwise interfered with under any circumstances. We assure you that our intentions align with the spirit of all international laws laid down by the Moneylania Council, as recognised by the nations of Greater Moneylania and Acrisia. The aforementioned being stated, however, should Ironcastle be willing to end its illegal no-fly zone over the sovereign nation of Lukonia, the United Empire May be willing to renegotiate it’s position.

Seabersian-Ironian Border

Ever since the Seven-Day War ended and the Aelcrest Accords were signed, the Ironian-Seabersian border has been heavily fortified. After Seabersia's defeat in the Platacian-Seabersian War, it became less so, especially on the eastern side of the border. For the right price, it isn't that hard to get across.

It's much easier if you're working for the Ironian government. When Platacia first sent supplies to South Lukonia, the ISA has authorised the activation of Operation Present Danger. Now, resistance groups within Seabesia are finding themselves much more well armed and equipped.

Between its multitude of international commitments, Platacia will find that suppressing the resistance in Seabersia to be much harder.

An announcement by Chairman Taneli Filatov

Taneli: My dear Friends and brothers in both Lukonia and abroad. At first, id like to commend the bravery of our soldiers in fighting the threat of the fanatic invaders from the south. Id also like to offer my gratitude to the international community, especially to the Moneylania council and Ironcastle, who have made efforts such as the NFZ to guarantee the security of civilians stuck in the middle of this unfortunate conflict. Of course, there are some actors who wish to to stop these acts and once more bring about more bloodshed but we are sure they will not be successful in there attempts.

He pauses for a second before continuing

Taneli: But this is not what were here to talk today. Because at some point this war will end. And that why we have to look to the future, to what will happen after the country is finally unified. And that is why im here, to outline the intentions of the United Lukonian Socialist Republics in what i will refer to as the "Ullinna manifesto". Firstly, its clear that Lukonia has stayed in its isolation for too long. To this end, i intend to change this radically. First, i am announcing the creation of the Lukonian exchange ministry, which is intended to become active post war. Foreign nations will be able to sell there goods to this ministry which can then redistribute them to the citizenry in a socialist fashion. As well as this, we are ready to accept Moneylanian council representatives to oversee the reunification process once it begins. Finally, to show our commitment to join the international community, North Lukonia will be releasing numerous citizen arrested due to suspected anti-party activity as well as all foreign citizen who have been interned before the war began. The ULRS will also officially renounce the doctrine of world revolution, and remove all references of it from official documents.

He takes one more pause before saying the last words he has to say

Taneli: I am also announcing a full amnesty to all South Lukonian officials who have not committed war crimes, and guarantee there safety in a new Lukonia. Thank you and good day.

Anchor 1: And now for our top story. Chairman Filatov of North Lukonia has announced what he calls the 'Ullinna Manifesto', claiming that should the North win in their current war with South Lukonia, it will significantly liberalise.

Anchor 2: In a fiery speech, the Chairman stated that North Lukonia would begin allowing foreign trade into the nation, release scores of political prisoners, and offered a full amnesty for all South Lukonians.

Anchor 1: Ironcastle's response has been positive, with President Lister praising what he called "a welcome step towards democracy in Lukonia". Already, a bill to recognise the North as the legitimate Lukonian nation has been introduced to the House of Representatives.

Anchor 2: While it is unlikely to pass, it shows the already warming relations between the North and MATO.

In Turkylä

Agent Hawk and two C.O.O.K.S personnel are secretly guided to a holding room where the Ironian diplomats are. No mics, no windows no nothing. Just a concrete room, one way in and one way out. A lone table is located in the middle of the room.

Hawk calls in the main Ironian diplomat in for questioning.

Hawk: Well, well, well. Look what we have here? I have reports that you have stolen plans that are invaluable to the Lukonian cause. I have two questions for you. Where are they and why are they so sought after by the Lukonians that they had to being us in?

The diplomat maintains a straight face.

Diplomat: You have no authority to hold me here. Under the WA Diplomat Protection Act, myself and my colleagues have full immunity to local jurisdiction. I demand you release us into the custody of the Federal Republic immediately.

South Lukonian-Kaznan Border

A small patrol has been dispatched to an isolated border outpost. While the radios aren't the best there, they haven't reported their status for several days. Upon arrival, however, they find the doors wide open and the place completely deserted.

[Sibaria]

Hawk stares straight back into the face of the diplomat.

Hawk: That is not up to me, it is up to the South Lukonian government.

Hawk walks to the door to check if it's locked.

Hawk: Locked. Good. Listen, to be quite honest, I want to get you out of here as fast as I can, I think we can help each other. If you tell me about the documents you stole and why the Lukonian's want them so bad, I will personally recommend your release when I walk out that door. if not, well, I will still walk out out that door. The choice is yours.

[Ironcastle]

The diplomat maintains a stern expression.

Diplomat: I have no idea what you are talking about. The Souths keep going on about those documents, but none of us have any idea what that means.

Turkylä Outskirts

A civilian claimed to have seen heavily armed men approaching the capital. Patrols were dispatched, but could find no evidence of such a claim. Security in the capital has been increased, but the only troops there are untrained conscripts and paramilitary units.

[Sibaria]

Hawk continues to stare at the diplomat.

Hawk: I'm trying to be nice here. I haven't brought any weapons in here, and I haven't been aggressive. I know you have information about the South Lukonians that is vital to them. Share this information and I will let you go free within the next ten minutes. Otherwise, you could be putting the entire Lukonian region in danger of another catastrophic war.

[Ironcastle]

South Lukonian Ministry of Defence, Turkylä

Diplomat: I assure you, I have no idea what you are talking about. I trust you are doing your duty to the best of your ability, but we can't give you what doesn't exist.

Turkylä Power Station

A few minutes before the Sibarian contingent arrived at the MoD, the guards at the main power plant for the capital failed to report in. A patrol has been dispatched to investigate.

Near the South Lukonian Ministry of Defence, Turkylä

A van pulls up down the street from the MoD. Several people get out, carrying large bags with them, and head for the unguarded rear maintenance door of the MoD.

Miles above, a small triangle zooms across the sky, painted grey and sporting the insignia of the ICAF.

[Sibaria]

Hawk, despite going back and forth with the diplomat, maintains a calm composure.

Hawk: *Whispers to himself, under his breath* Vennligst hjelp meg herre...

He looks up to the diplomat.

Hawk: The Lukonian government would not call me in of all people to conduct this operation if they didn't firmly believe that documents precious to them where stolen.

[Ironcastle]

South Lukonian Ministry of Defence, Turkylä

The diplomat is about to respond when the door flies open. One of the Sibarian guards runs up to Hawk.

Sibarian (whispering): There's something going on, I don't know what but-

The lights go out. Moments later the backup generators come on, but the emergency lighting is very dim. A muffled explosion can be felt throughout the complex.

Diplomat: What's going on?

A second, smaller explosion can be felt, but this one is much closer.
