Royal Wedding in Afalia [OOC Thread/INVITES ONLY]

Postby Afalia » Sat Jun 08, 2013 3:18 am

IC Thread

This is the OOC thread for the 'Royal Wedding in Afalia'. The roleplay is closed to invited nations only. If you feel like you should've been invited, by either Lyncanestria or myself, and that we may have forgotten you, please drop us a telegram.

And by the way Lyncanestria, 'Royal Wedding in Afalia' is only a temporary title. If you can come up with something better then we'll use that.

I also reckon we should have a day of build-up before we actually start the wedding. We need time for guests to arrive in the country anyway.

Please note-invitations to the Royal Wedding have not yet been sent out. If you're expecting one, don't panic! It will be sent out soon.

Lyncanestria, have you got any requests for music for the ceremony? Especially since you know far more about classical music than me.

I suggest something chambery for the reception - say Bach, Vivaldi or Mozart? Some light piano, alternatively?

Well, depends on how you want your atmosphere. I suggest something for the post-wedding reception along the lines of Mozart as Classical-Romantic music. Bach as well seems a good choice. Vivaldi is too early Baroque to be used in this kind of reception I believe. If you want dancing, waltzes by Johann Strauss II or even Tchaikovsky are very good.

Here are some choices I suggest for reception music:
- Piano Concerto No. 26 (Mozart)
- Violin Sonatas [any] (Mozart)
- Eine Kleine Nachtmusike (Mozart)
- Divertimento in E-flat (Mozart)
- Cello Suite No. 1 (Bach)
- Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 (Bach)
- Der Kaiser-waltzer (Strauss)
- Vienna Waltz (Strauss)

At the wedding itself, I don't know if you would prefer chorus sining Pachabel's Canon in D for the bride's march or Wagner's or Mendelssohn's wedding march. As you asked, we will be having Handel's Zadok the Priest. I suggest you listen to the two wedding marches and get back to me which you like better--Mendelasohn's or Wagner's. Or if we should use Pachabel's canon instead of the march.

I preferred Mendelssohn's piece so we'll go for that, along with Zadok the Priest and at the end the national anthems of both nations, plus the Royal anthem will be sung. The reception music looks good. We can just litter it in our posts as we go along.

Thank you both.

It's probably best not to jump in until the wedding has finished. The reception will be where all the guests will actually mingle and do quiet deals behind the scenes. And of course give out wedding presents! :p

I'm not sure pleased is the correct terminology :P

Sorry, nearly forgot to mark that I'm attending :). I've never done a social thread before, so this is kind of new.

-QUESTION-

Postby Insulam » Tue Aug 13, 2013 12:48 am

 Noting that I am invited and the attendees:

-Head of the Congregation of St. Matthew, Father Paul R. Riverwood
-Archbishop of St. Matthew, Cardinal Lewis T. Carroll
    -Chief Executive James P. Temblor

And also, I have a question. My question(-, to Afalia,) is if my nation's representatives, on behalf of His Majesty's Vice-Regal Representative, the Governor-General, with the Governor, would attend before, during, or after the ceremony?

Thank you for confirming. You'd go to the wedding ceremony like all other invited guests. You can assume you'd be inside the cathedral. But guests will properly get a chat once the ceremony's over and the reception's begun. Which you would also attend.
