TOP SECRET RESCUE!

Image
An impression of the rescue mission by NAVY Seals

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

All staffmembers and diplomats working with our embassy in Hippostania have already returned home safe yesterday. During a live adress from his Office the President - on national radio and television - informed the Noordeindean people and the international community about the succesfull evacuation mission by NAVY Seals.

During his adress President Jonathan Arthur Roosevelt made clear that he had no other option left. The President said that it wouldn't happen 'on his watch' that our diplomatic personnel and embassy staffmembers with our Embassy in Hippostania would be illegally detained by a foreign government. Afther consultations with his National Security team, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other close advisors he therefore decided to send in a team of NAVY Seals in order to evacuate our own State department employees.

So far many details of this rescue mission have - not yet - been released by either the Department of Defense or the Department of State. We can however confirm that a new type of helicopter has probably been used during the mission. One of our correspondents was also evacuated from an undisclosed location in Hippostania and according to his eye withness testimony some new kind of 'Stealth helicopters' were used. Our correspondent was, however, not allowed to ask any questions or to make pictures of this new type of helicopter.

Afther their evacuation from this undiclosed location in Hippostania, the helicopters returned to yet another undisclosed NAVY vessel - in international waters - close to the Hippostanian mainland. It is not yet known when the evacuated embassy staffmembers will return home to their families in Noordeinde. They have, however, already been in contact with their families to personally inform them that they are safe.

Last week, Ambassador Peter Brunswick was already called back to Noordeinde for personal talks with the President about the international crisis. In a written statement from his Office the Ambassadar says to be relieved and that he can't wait for the safe return of his diplomatic team and the embassy staffmembers. Today - two days afther this top secret military operation - the High Chancellor of Hippostania announced that all foreign ambassadors, diplomats and other embassy staffmembers from various countries and whom are still imprisoned will be released immediatley.

At the end of his adress on national tv and radio the President also expressed his wish to peacefully resolve this international crisis. He called upon all those countries involved to take their responsability and urged them to participate in an international conference. According to President Roosevelt: 'Enough mistakes have already been made during this crisis. Now let us do something right by preventing possible unneccasary bloodshed and use the power of words to solve this situation...'

President Creates Public Housing Taskforce!

Image
President Roosevelt at his weekly Press Conference

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

At his weekly press conference on friday - afther the weekly cabinet meeting - President Jonathan Arthur Roosevelt announced that his administration will create a special Taskforce to improve Public Housing accros the country. This news comes two weeks afther the fatal shooting of a young The Hague Police Department Officer and the assasination attempt upon The Hague Mayor Carter Poole and the Police Commissioner a week later at the Bitterman Housing Project.

According to a shocked President this was only one of the many incidents that have happened in or around public housing projects accros the nation in the past couple of years. 'Something needs to be done about it. This can't go on like this any longer.' the President said at the press conference. Not did he only pledge the full support of his Office to find out what happened at the Bitterman Housing Project and to do whatever is neccesarry to arrest those resonspible so that justice can be served. He also created a special taskforce to improve the situation at the Bitterman housing project and other alike projects accros the United States of Noordeinde.

The purpose of the Public Housing Taskforce will be to come up with permanent solutions and legislation to solve the problems at public housing projects accros the country. At the press conference the President already appealed to the Congress to co-operate with the taskforce and - if neccesarry - approve a special federal budget that might be used for things suchs as a 'midlife' update of Public Housing Projects, better maintainance of the projects and for the Police Housing Bureaus/Units/Divisions accros the country who patrol and fight crime in these areas.

The President announced that the Vice President will be in charge of handling the day-to-day affairs of the taskforce and that VP Flaherty will directly report back to him. Other members on the taskforce include Secretary of Housing and Urban Developent Suzan Jackson, Attorney - General Morgan Washington and Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare Gabby Giffords. Beside them all States and major cities that have these public housing projects have been invited by the President to sent their own Public Housing and Law Enforcement agency representatives to be part of this taskforce as well.

According to President Roosevelt - who visited the Mayor at Bellevue Hospital - the Mayor is in a stable condition but he still has to recover from his gunshot wounds. Therefore the city's Public Advocate has been sworn in as Acting Mayor. Mayor Poole and the Police Commissioner visited the sight of the shooting - of the slain Police Officer - and held a Town Hall meeting with the residents of the 'Project' where the shooting took place. The residents of the Bitterman project complained to the Mayor and the police commissioner about the lack of safety and the increase of gang related violence and organized crime within their buildings. Short afther a mentally ill kid fired three rounds with a .38 revolver and hit the Mayor two times. Mayor Poole was hit by one of the bullets in his shoulder and the other in his back -near his spine - possibly paralyzing him from the waste down.

Yesterday, The Hague's Police Department already searched the Bitterman Housing Project and 47 arrests were made, all gangmembers. Most of them are being held and charged with the illegal possesion of a firearm or other type of weapon while the Police, the District Attorney and other law enforcement agenies continue their investigation. The District Attorney, however, confirmed that the gangbanger who smuggled the gun into the town hall meeting and who had setup the shooting by giving the gun to this severly autistic kid has been arrested.

President Roosevelt adresses the nation!

Image
President Roosevelt adresses the nation

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

This sunday evening President Jonathan Arthur Roosevelt talked to the nation from his office about the ongoing crisis in the Kingdom of Hudayda during a Live televised adress on all major news networks. The President informed the nation about the decission that he has made to deploy an entire Navy Carrier Battle Group in international waters, along the Hudaydan seaborder.

'The purpose of this mission is to cut off as many supplylines to the Tawheed Brigade - in the south of Hudayda - and try to prevent the illegal trafficking of arms, ammunition and other weapons technology to this terrorist organization.' the President said. All vessels heading towards the southern ports of Hudayda will therefore be subject to inspection by the United States of Noordeinde Navy. In the meanwhile this Carrier Battle group has also been tasked to provide humanitarian- and medical aid to the victims of this war. Another positive side effect of our Navy being present outside Hudaydan territorial waters is that pirate activity has almost been reduced to nothing.

The deployment of this Navy taskforce comes in light of the most recent events in the Kingdom of Hudayda. What started with peacefull protests against certain political and democratic reforms - announced by His Majesty's Government - have turned into a civil war in several southern provinces and cities. According to the President al-Liwah ul-Tawheed - also known as the Tawheed Brigade - is responsible for plunging Hudayda into this bloody conflinct. He therefore did not only authorise a bill - declaring them a terrorist organization - but the President also authorised an airstrike upon several enemy targets last night, at the request of the Royal government.

President Roosevelt also talked about it not being his intention at this moment to deploy ground troops. 'At this moment we will only have a limited presence in the region.' the President said. While back here, at home, the Tawheed Brigade and it's leadership have been put onto the so called 'terrorist watchlist'. Because of that the State Department imposed travel restrictions to all US territories for the Tawheed brigade leadership and all those who can be associated with this organization and the Treasury Department has ordered to freeze all financial assets belonging to this organization and people who can be associated with al-Liwah -ul Tawheed as well. This basically means that they can no longer travel and or/transfer money through our country and exclusive economic zones.

At last the President announced that he will try to seek a permanent and peacefull solution for this crisis through the appropriate diplomatic channels. He has called upon all involved parties to take their responsability and solve this crisis without anymore unneccesary bloodshed. On behalf of his administration the Secretary of State would like to visit Hudayday and talk to the King and his government and also to local government officials, moderate imams and clerks in the south of Hudayda. 'Thereafther we should try to get both parties around the negotiation table and solve this crisis for once and for all with the support of all Hudaydan people.' the President said. He, however, also remarked that his administration will not negotiate with terrorists.

Stuyvesant Presidential Library Dedicated!

Image
Former President Stuyvesant (center) waits for the arrival of President Roosevelt

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

On a bright and sunny Monday morning, a former president welcomed the three other veterans of President's Hall, including President Jonathan Arthur Roosevelt, assorted world leaders, elected officials and an estimated 10,000 guests to the dedication of the nation's 24th and newest presidential library and museum.

The dedication ceremony of the George C. Stuvesant's presidential center has ended after the nation's 24th president gave a closing speech with tears welling in his eyes. ''I dedicate this library with unshakeable faith in the future of our country," President Stuyvesant said while standing in front of the 226,565-square-foot complex at the Nieuw-Amsterdam University Campus.

Former President Stuyvesant called it the "honor of a lifetime to lead a country as brave and as noble as the United States" and said that no matter what challenges the nation faces, "I'll always believe our nation's best days lie ahead." It had been an emotional day for the former President and his wife Abigail. Over the past couple of years the former first couple had been working really hard to make this historic day possible.

In one exhibit, visitors "can step into a gaming experience" to consider four big decisions President Stuyvesant himself faced in office -- the military intervention in Equatorial Kundu, the covert operations in Qumar, the response to Hurricane Kathryn and the financial crisis. The interactive exhibit gives the visitor advice from advisers, and after four minutes, Mr. Stuyvesant explains in a video his own decision-making process.

While the museum touches on controversial aspects of Mr. Stuyvesant's eight years in office, it focuses more on the initiatives that helped define Mr. Stuyvesant as a "compassionate progressive President," such as No Child Left Behind and combating AIDS in Africa.

A crowd of 10,000 watched as a military guard carried a line of flags off the stage, followed by the departure of all four presidents and their wives. The ceremony was also attended by former members of the Stuyvesant administration, including former Secretary of State Donald Kissinger, current and former world leaders including former Roman Chancellor Antonio Giannini and the children of former presidents.

President Creates New Cabinet-Level Position

Image
Mrs. Emma van Hollen, the first US Secretary of Foreign Trade & Development Cooperation

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

During a special press conference at President's Hall, this morning, Press Secretary Kelly Witherspoon announced that the President had signed the Official documents to establish the new cabinet-level position of Secretary of Foreign Trade & Development Cooperation. Witherspoon also announced that President Roosevelt has nominated Emma van Hollen to become the person to have this job.

By creating this new Office the President started one of the largest reorganization in the federal government since the Department of Defense was created via the National Security Act of 1947. The position of US Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade will be abolished and the duties/responsabilities will be transfered to the Office of the new Secretary. However no new Department will be established. The post of Secretary of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation has been established at the Department of State. This confirms the importance of cohesion between those two policy areas. Future measures will enlarge the scope for small and medium-sized enterprises to invest in developing countries, and the forging of new coalitions between companies, NGOs and individuals, such as the coalition combating HIV/AIDS.

A revolving fund of ƒ1 billion financed in the years 2014-2016 from the development cooperation budget also reflects the closer connection between foreign trade and development cooperation. Established in collaboration with the business community, this fund will support investments in developing countries, especially by small and medium-sized enterprises. Another fund of ƒ250 million will be established for international security will be set up as a permanent budget to promote peace and crisis management operations for developing countries.

Nominated to become the first Secretary of Foreign Trade & Development Cooperation is Emma van Hollen. Prior to her nomination van Hollen was the administrator of USAID, one of the agencies she will also head as Secretary. Emma van Hollen is a member of the Democratic Party and was a US Member of the House of Representatives for five years before she was asked to serve as USAID Administrator. She is considered to be a good friend of President Roosevelt. It will, however, be up to the Senate wheter they will confirm his nomination or not. Hearings start tommorow and we expect a vote at the end of the week. When appointed Administrator for USAID she was confirmed with a unanimous vote.

President Roosevelt pays surprise visit to US troops in Brasilistan!

Image
The Presidential motorcade enroute to the embassy

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

One week afther US special forces freed four hostages President Roosevelt started his two-day visit to Brasilistan. On saturday the President arrived in the morning at the international airport of the Capital city - flying onboard an almost completely unmarked Boeing 787 that belongs to the VIP airliftwing of the US airforce. The first meeting he had on saturday was at the safe compound of the US embassy, where he met with President Jonesville of Brasilistan. Purpose of this meeting: signing an agreement about the Brasilistan armed forces surrendering to US troops on the ground. Later on that day he visited US army soldiers on the ground, sailors of the US navy at sea and NCIB* / NMIB** intelligence officers working from onboard one of the command vessels.

About ten weeks ago four US tourists were abducted by Brasilistan's secret police. The people who had been taken prisoner by secret police were three men and a women. Two males - a same sex couple - and two friends were abducted at the airpoint by masked men with guns - wearing no insignia identifying them as law enforcement or the military. At the airport - on their way back home to the US - they were pulled into several vans. Later that morning the Brasilistan embassy in The Hague informed the State department about them "capturing" four persons who were being accused of "Spreading the illegal LGBT ideology and lifestyle". They and their two friends were also accused of spying.

The ambassador of Brasilistan was summoned to President's Hall to explain his government's actions. During a live press conference, afther his meeting with the ambassador, President Roosevelt publicaly condemned the arrest in the strongest possible terms and demanded their unconditional release from prison. "We warned the ambassador for the consequences it might have if his government does not co-operate with us" the President said. Possible sanctions included but were not limited to financial ones and - if neccesary - a military intervention.

Afther two weeks of failed negotiations at the highest diplomatic level President Roosevelt signed off on a military intervention in Brasilistan. This decission was made because the nation denied the release of our nationals they held "hostage". During those two weeks the US government was also still not able to get into contact with the two couples to provide them with consular and legal counsel - something they had right to in accordance with international legislation. Neither had the two couples been officially charged and arranged in front of a court.

Now the first two weeks tactical airstrikes were carried out by multiple US navy vessels, including two aircraftcarriers with fighterjets onboard. Their targets: military sites in and around the capital city. Unfortunetaly this didn't have the effect the Roosevelt administration had hoped for. Afther that US special forces were sent in to "cut off the snakes head".

During multiple secret operations high ranking military officers with Brasilistan's national defence staff were either captured or killed in action. In the meanwhile the four US nationals were still being held prisoner at an undisclosed location and the government of Brasilistan had not given up, yet. President Roosevelt therefore increased the number of airstrikes on military infrastructure and signed off on several other missions by US special forces.

This ultimetaly lead to the surrender of Brasilistan's armed forces. White flags were seen flying above the capital at government and military buildings. That's when the 101st Airborne division and a reconnaissance division of the Marine corps - about 7000 men strong - were deployed to take over the capital and the surrounding region. That same day the US tourists were freed by special forces from a bunker - down under the Brasilistan central intelligence headquarters. A week prior to this visit they have been flown home and reunited with their families and friends. The President and the first Lady also hosted all four of them and their families, last wednesday, at Gracie Mansion.

Tommorow President Roosevelt and President Jonesville are expected to meet again at the US embassy. The United States will consider to lift trade and other financial sanctions if Brasilistan improves it's Human-. Civil- and Political rights record and if it adheres to international law. More coverage on this visit, tommorow..

WRITTEN BY:
Alexander McKinley, Editor-in-Chief

The first two candidates who will run for President during next year's election have announced their candidacy. Afther having been in office for eight years, next year, President Jonathan Arthur Roosevelt will leave Gracie Mansion and President's Hall. Today two senators, belonging to the Democratic Party, have announced that they are running for the highest public office in the land. The first candidate to announce his candidacy was Senator Jim Fitzgerald van Buuren and a couple of hours later Senator Bobby Roosevelt also announced his candidacy

A short biography, Senator Jim Fitzgerald van Buuren (41) was born in 1974 and raised in the city of Cape Noordeinde. Afther his graduation from highschool he was able to study International Relations at the prestigious Brooklyn University, thanks to a scholarship program. A year prior to his graduation he had an internship at Senator Hoffmeier's Office, who was a member of the Senate Foreign Relations committee then. Afther his graduation Senator Hoffmeier offered him to stay and gave him a job with his Office.

Afther four years Jim van Buuren tried to run for public office himself, unsuccesfully. Even though he had the support of several Senators, another candidate won the election for his home district's seat in Congress (House of Representatives). Afther he had lost the election he stayed at Senator Hoffmeier's office and became the Senator his Chief of Staff. A year later, at the age of 27, Jim van Buuren announced his candidacy for the Mayor's election of his home city, Cape Noordeinde. This time he won the election and served one five year term in office. During these five years he got himself the popular image of being a typical east coast liberal.

Afther five years in office as Mayor of the city of Cape Noordeinde he ran again for public office, this time for the Senate seat of the State of Cape Noordeinde. Being very well known and popular as the Mayor of the State Capital he also won this election, while only being 33 years old. He got re-elected afther four years at the age of 37. Senator Jim Fitzgerald van Buuren also serves on the Senate Foreign Relations committee.

Like his older brother, Bobby Roosevelt was also born and raised in the city of The Hague. Afther his graduation from highschool, Bobby Roosevelt went to New Amsterdam University's law school.

Four years later he graduated at the age of 22. Thereafther he started working with the District Attorney's Office of New Amsterdam as an assistant district attorney. Five years later, at the age of 27, he got promoted to Chief District Attorney of New Amsterdam, thanks to high conviction rates. Afther three more years, when he was 30, Bobby Roosevelt was asked to become State Attorney General for the State of New Holland in Governor Vanderbilt's second cabinet. At the age of 34 Bobby Roosevelt made his first and succesfull attempt to become Senator for the State of New Holland. He ran as a Democrat and got himself elected with 56% of the popular vote. Four years later he was re-elected for a second term at the age of 38. Senator Bobby Roosevelt is member of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary.
