The stage is dark, the crowd tense. Muted chatter is flowing through the Yosef Ben-Or Arena as the people of the world await the twenty-sixth edition of the WorldVision Song Contest. A contest that has unified the countries of the world through music for many, many years. The arena was one of the smallest in WorldVision history, but the message was still the same, of unity, and the catchphrase for this editions contest, "Light The Way Through Music" embodied this fact. The darkened arena hushed for a moment, before a huge cheer erupted as the WorldVision Song Contest 26 Theme Tune rang out into the arena (An extended version is played however).
From both sides of the stage, around 60 dancers, dressed in traditional Kishraeli dress come on from either side of the stage. One side are the males, the other side is the females. As they bounce over to their carefully picked partner, they link arms and swing from one to the other in perfect unison. This was reminiscent of something most of the crowd had seen before, but they held their tongue before they thought of who it could be. The group suddenly stopped dancing and stood still, before creeping rather frantically into the shape of something. The aerial camera above the stage made this out as a Star of David. This quickly turned into a circle, and the circle began to rotate around and around, as the people on the stage hopped in unison. As this happened, the frontal camera angle was now shown, and the horns of the first Kishraeli WorldVision entry sounded out. The crowd let out a huge cheer as Daria Shulamit, the first participant for Kishrael in the contest marched out, smiling. The circle parted for her as she started to sing her song.
לרוחב היםים – Lerocheb hayamim
דרך הבקעים גדולים – Derekh habiqaim gadolim
She-shik-a-shak-she-shik-a-shak-shak
Ha-havaha-ha-havaha-ha-havaha
זה כך מדבק – Zeh kek medebek
זה מתערבל דרך המדבר – Zeh meterebel derefk hamidbar
She-shik-a-shak-she-shik-a-shak-shak
Ha-havaha-ha-havaha-ha-havaha
נצח ואי – Netsach vay
Let’s dance the Horah!
Go, The Horah!
Daria started doing her signature hopping dance with her hair whips which would cause most to get a severe case of whiplash. Not Daria though, as she confidently looked down the frontal camera, punching her fist into the air as she sung the final parts of the verse. This was her song, she'd gotten the top 10 she needed, and now the contest was coming to her country, and she was proud to be on that stage.
Shayla-she-shayla
הורה – Haorah
רגל ימין לפני ואז האחר - Regel yamin lifney vaz haacher
Shayla-she-shayla
חוג דומה השמש – Hog dome hashemesh
Shayla-she-shayla
Let’s dance the horah!
As she finished her high note at the end of the her singing part. She ran back, becoming part of the circle, bouncing about. The stage darkened, and a spotlight was on just one person on the floor, dressed in black rags, it seemed. The dancers dispersed off the stage, their silhouettes giving way to the receding light and the advancing dark. As the music from current WorldVision champion, Anna Petravona's song started, another large cheer was heard from the crowd, especially the Polkopian contingents. She looked up, the light from above shadowing her facial features, an outstretched arm, and her voice, quiet, began to sing the verse words of the song.
I won't let you hurt me now
No, no, not this time
Please don't go and tell me how
How you're a changed man
I don't remember what you did
To make me feel that way
You're just a little kid
Trying to play the game of love
The crowd cheered as the memories of last WorldVision washed over them. Taking a breath, Anna continued to sing her winners song, the song that'd brought it home for Polkopia on home soil. And now, because of that victory, she could travel the world, to place like Kishrael, and show people that she was a proud Polkopian. She sung, she sung her heart out, rising out from her kneeling position, her rags billowing in a small wind.
And if you tell me that you want to take me back
I'll meet your face with a smack
Can't you see...?
As she finished this part of the song, the lights became bathed in a bright blue colour, and Anna's dress too, became a vibrant blue colour as she threw off her rags, metaphorically holding her back, vocally and mentally, as she let her voice go the heights that only she personally could go.
Love is not a game
Don't you play me tonight
You know I'll put up a fight
I know what I deserve
Love is not a game
Don't you play me tonight
You know I'll put up a fight
I know what I deserve
She held the last note for ages, it seemed, as the crowd went wild for their current champion. Letting the microphone drift away from her lips, and looking down the camera, she gave a little smile and wink, before the lights on the stage went off, and she was plunged into darkness. The backing screen began to slowly grow into colour again, however, with every nation of the 26th WorldVision Song Contest represented in the form of their flag, as they built and multiplied, making what looked like a patchwork blanket of some sort on the screen.
The screen then showed a family from Kishrael, "Shalom Olam!" they beamed. Then a family from Anollasia, "Merhello dunyorld!", then a family from Kinglsey Bedford, Worzsary, Quebec, everyone. The screen was filled with families across the world wishing the contestants the best of luck, and saying hello to the world. As more and more people were added to the graphic, it zoomed out slowly, and from afar, we can see the shape it made. A menorah, with the flames lit for the nations of WorldVision, the people of the world are lighting the way for their heroes in the WorldVision Song Contest, we are all united in this. There was a huge glass-smashing sound throughout the arena, as the menorah faded away.
Emerging from the two sides at the stage back of the stage, the presenters for the evening, Mia Awachu (מיה אוחו) - A Kishraeli Arab, and much loved TV presenter, and Shmu'el Haddad (שמועל הדד) - a reality television star who has made his continued fame through singing.
Shmu'el: Hello World! Welcome to the 26th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, held right here in the capital of Kishraeli, Shatilaurchev!
Crowd cheers...
Mia: Yes, the 26th edition of this prestigious contest has found its way to Kishrael, who participated for only the first time last time when our friends in Peeto hosted the competition.
Shmu'el: We've already saw Anna Petranova who took the crown for Polkopia on home soil last time, and that is what all the nervous contestants backstage will be hoping for, to lift the prestigious WorldVision trophy, and to represent their country on the world stage!
Crowd cheers...
Mia: But, all of us here in Kishrael would like to thank you to the nations of WorldVision, and the fans for giving us the opportunity to host this magical event, and giving us your support throughout.
Crowd cheers...
Shmu'el: You can vote for your favourite song when all songs have been performed, by calling the number which appears on your screen. You cannot vote for your own country, and all votes made before the end of the show will not be counted, but may still be charged.
Mia: The votes of each country will be combined with those of the national jury members, to give an overall result, the point, 1 to 7, and the 8, 10, and famous douze points.
Shmu'el: But enough for the rules, let us start this contest! 5...4...3...2...1...!
Mia: LET THE 26TH WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST COMMENCE!
