How do you make sure it sticks? After all humans probably think very different from a parasitic organism. How do you make them do what you want them to do if all they want to do is spread and take over the world? There isn't much room for flexibility.... If it's steampunk, I've gone and created a puppet nation to represent my floating clockwork magic steampunk nation. Totally should do it there, where there's hardly any law (or money, water and food, for that matter) outside of the floating cities.

My steampunk magica nation is really supposed to be my country if it had
1. Continued its Pagan Religion
2. Underwent a massive cataclysm that devastated their land
3. Found a source of magical material within the sands.

The land of BettaMIn would be a complete desert, with all of the former cities nothing but craters and ruins. The residents of the land would be limited alone to explorers, treasure hunters, madmen, and those who hide from and rebel against the Grand Vizier in the ruins of the old cities. Few animals reside in the desert wasteland that now is BettaMin. Under the sands, strange, huge creatures with the body shape and color of a bear, face of a leopard, and humps camel, tunnel to avoid the sunlight and conserve their water. During the night, the monumental beasts hunt for other creatures, like humans, to sate their large appetites. Also among the animals are flat, sand colored organisms camouflaged to look like a piece of sandstone, and large, tan cow-like animals with humps upon their backs that graze the small tufts of grass that remain. Lizards and snakes, nearly all poisonous, present an even greater threat.

To escape the harsh environment of the ground, the Engineer, an old mad man who was once an adventurer, developed a series of inventions, some which went horribly wrong, in order to try to find a way for the Khartumians, the last surviving residents of BettaMin, to ascend to the sky to escape the threat of the beasts that roamed beneath their feet. While tinkering one day, the Grand Vizier visited him, and during his visit, accidently knocked over a tray of minerals and liquids. An explosion resulted, terribly injuring the Engineer, costing him a leg. The Vizier himself was simply scratched, but among the explosion he realized that one of the rocks was floating slightly above the ground. The same day, a group of wise students from the University of Khartum entered the Engineer's workshop, and through experimentation, discovered the magic of floating rock.

The Engineer was imprisoned inside his workshop, and the Vizier set about taking advantage of this discovery. He overthrew the Sultan, and on the same day, poured down into the mines below the city the substance that caused the phenomenon, much against the warning of the students who developed the magic for him.The city broke free of the ground, and became a floating rock among the sky.

Over time, science brought the Pagans far. They built more and more floating towns surrounding their capital. Transit between them was managed by airplanes, zeppelins, and similar devices. The Engineer, still alive despite his old age, even managed to craft himself a leg that reacts to his thought. Technology was developed to collect water directly from the clouds for use in the city. The city, unlike the land below it, due to new technology has become green, filled with gardens and parks, cleverly placed around the tall smokestacks that protrude from the ground, betraying the presence of large hidden factories.

Physical description: Valeria has blonde hair and eyes of brilliant grey. She is athletic and stands at 5ft 11 as she is not a full grown Emperians. Emperians upon full maturation for females tend to be between 6ft and 6ft 5inches. She looks Caucasian like all Emperians are and her eyes glow blue when she uses her Psionic powers. She is regarded as a great beauty and is not afraid to flaunt her beautiful looks.
Personality description: Valeria is not like her Brother, The Prince Imperial and heir to the Throne, in the regard that she is very social. Casually regarding Humans as potentially able to gain Emperian levels of technology. Yet her Brother continuously warns her of the recklessness of the Human species as a whole, much to her argument against that claim. She is fond of Humanity and by attending one of their illustrious Academies she hopes to find an affinity with the species and learn greatly of Humanity's various cultures, customs and way of life.
Biography (be as detailed as you want): Born on December 25th on the same day as her Brother in 3005 Imperial Calender (Emperor's Reign) to The Emperor and his wife Empress Morishima Haruka (A Dakini Femini of the Aurora Galaxy and despite name connotations is also Caucasian). She proved to be everything her brother was not, she was more sociable, less military inclined and looked more or less like a celebrity than the iconic authority of her brother. She in a way fell in love with Humanity much to the disdain of her brother but her mother encouraged the learning of cultures in the event she will help govern a growing Empire of over a million settled worlds. She has since her birth attended the Schola Imperia on the Emperian Throne world of Imperia and earning a degree in Literature. She has mastered fourteen languages and read over 1,000 pieces of work which thanks to her Emperian memory can paraphrase many of them.

Valeria after graduating traveled to Earth to apply to Uldartre Academy and learn the ways of Humanity. To better understand foreign cultures and ideas, to learn foreign customs and grow her educational portfolio.
Noteworthy possessions (Weapons, cultural artifacts, pets, computers, phones etc.): She does have her, "Honored Blade," in the form of a short sword that is forged of the highest Emperian qualities. It is Emperian custom that high standing dignitaries or those who have earned the right to bear such a weapon are able to carry it freely. After all most Emperian traditions are merit based rather than birth based.

Valeria does have her A.I. Vespasia with her to assist her in coexisting with Humanity and to translate for languages she does not know. Even though she has mastered English and speaks it with a distinct accent. Vespasia also assists Valeria in receiving and sending messages for her to keep in contact with her family and Emperian friends.
Any cultural notes?: Emperians are highly traditional and use Crystal technology, generally regarding Human electronics as vastly inferior. Valeria is also Royalty and therefore she may demand respect in formal occasions yet unlike her brother is not very authoritative. She or Vespasia will tell others of anything culturally relevant when needed at the appropriate time.
