The Grandterre entry for the WVSC25 is: Generation by AVOIR
AVOIR is a band with Albert Perrault, Valerie Beauvais, Océane LaMarche, Isabelle Lemieux, Robert DuBois.

Albert Perrault (born May 2, 1982) is the vocalist and the leader of the band. was, during high school, a member of the Nordiqueville provincial choir. While trying to raise money, he decided to create this band.
Valerie Beauvais (born November 1, 1983) is the guitarist. She had raised money playing the guitar since she was 14.
Océane LaMarche (born June 10, 1980) is the drummer. She was the drummer of the teenage band "La Grande Croix" from 1994 to 1999.
Isabelle Lemieux (born September 7, 1980) is the pianist. She was the pianist of the teenage band "La Grande Croix" from 1994 to 1999.
Robert DuBois (born October 30, 1979) is the other vocalist. He was the vocalist and the leader of the teenage band "La Grande Croix" from 1994 to 1999.

RL is to Grandterre as ABBA is to AVOIR.

The Paradystopi entry, as chosen by a select jury of various musicians, industry experts and other assorted musical afficionados

C'est la vie et c'est la Guerre - The Crisis
(Here is the music)

The Crisis are an infamous alternative punk band hailing from the city of Dzias in Northern Paradystopia. Reknown for their on-stage antics and blatent disregard for personal health and safety, their performance is certain to be eye-catching, if not to everyone's taste.

The band comprises of Rhenn David on voice and rhythm guitar and younger brother Elliot David on lead guitar. The bass guitarist goes by his stage name of Judas Asparagus and the drumming is provided by 'Lady' Mharli Fjnzik (not an actual lady. i.e. she's female, but not titled) who have all been in the band since its inception several years ago, though all were close friends prior to the formation of the band.

Their manager; Rob Dunkas says that the WorldVision Song Contest will be a brilliant opportunity for the band to break out of Paradystopia and onto the international scene, showcasing their adrenalin-fueled and vitriolic performances. Lead singer Rhenn David displayed a different view, quoted in a national newspaper, his response as to whether he was excited to be representing Paradystopia in it's debut on the WorldVision stage was "Whatever man, it's all just the same fucking bullshit ..."

C'est la vie et la vie est Guerre - The Crisis
(Here is the music)

(ooc: this will be elaborated upon. Just an RL commitment to see to first. Also, my French is ... errr ... tres mal(?) The title will be the only line in French but I'd prefer it to be grammatically correct. Saying that it is a punk song, so as long as the meaning's not lost, it's all good)

I could help you with French if you want to sneak in more than a few lines.
And I'd like to make a little suggestion about the title....

Even though it is (technically) grammatically correct, it sounds weird when speaking French. I would go for either one of these:

- C'est la vie et la vie est la guerre.
- C'est la vie, c'est la guerre.

I'd vote for the latter as it is an idiom, actually, and could work pretty well with a punk song.

On a side note, I -LOVE- you. Thank you for going for the correct use of foreign languages and not a mishmash of English grammar with foreign vocab. Seriously. (And a plus for using something besides English). Know what? You might be already on my shortlist of songs-I-could-vote-for.

Thanks, I may very well take you up on that offer. I knew c'est la vie was a turn of phrase, hence why I chose it. Didn't know c'est la guerre was (, hence why I didn't use it ...) The thing is, the wording I used was the correct number of syllables for the chorus and the properly worded one isn't. What about 'C'est la vie et c'est la guerre' ?

Well, thank you. I appreciate it. I just wish I had better fluency in another language rather than a very basic grasp of several eclectic European languages.

Sounds good as well. Words like 'et', or adding a pronounced 'e' at the end (you know, like vi-eh) are common in French music. Take Édith Piaf as a classic example. And well, here's Euski, à votre disposition.

Russian, German, Serbo-Croat, French, Italian (adjectives mostly, from music) and maybe a few others that I could bodge my way through saying 'hello', 'goodbye', 'please', 'thank you' etc. in. If I'm ever in any foreign country, I'll learn as much of the language as I can but when it's not something I'm using everyday I forget. Well, forget the useful bits and retain arbitrary words which are no use by themselves.

I could've done a parody of 'Badger Badger' in Russian using tortoise, guinea pig and bird I suppose ...

超宮殿へようこそ (Welcome to Chōkyūden)
Image
The city of Chōkyūden is a city so advanced that almost completely all of it withstood the 2013 Groteberg Earthquake. Here's a tour of Chōkyūden.
超宮殿の歴史 (History of Chōkyūden)
Image
Palatée in 1850
During the era of Nova Laurentia, 600 years ago of course, there lied a village named Palatée which had two thousand people in it. When Nova Laurentia turned into Groteberg, the village became a hotspot for science and technology. From 1900 to 1920, the village's population grew from 7,500 to 800,000, mostly due to the immigration from L'île de la Liberté (Groteberg's main immigration port). In 1951, Palatée was renamed Chōkyūden by the city's Japanese people. By 1975, the percentage of Chōkyūden's population who are Japanese rose from 40% in 1951 to 95%. Currently, Chōkyūden is technologically advanced and is currently launching plans to build a city underground.
超宮殿の記念碑 (Monuments of Chōkyūden)
Image
A rock climber at Mount Tachiagakō
There are the small mountains of Nagayama (長山) whose highest point is 1813m at Mount Tachiagakō (立上高). At the mountains, there is a lot of rock climbers. In addition is the Palatée District, which is the remains of the old Palatée village.
超宮殿の文化 (Culture of Chōkyūden)
Image\
A street in Chōkyūden
In the city are a lot of street vendors selling sushi. Anime and manga are popular in the city. Every May 12 there is the Chōkyūden-bi no Matsuri (超宮殿日の祭り) which commemorates the day Palatée was renamed Chōkyūden.
超宮殿の緩和 (Relaxation of Chōkyūden)
Image
Capsule hotel rooms in the Hime no Hoteru
There is a hotel named Hime no Hoteru (姫のホテル) which is literally a mile high. It houses 20,000 hotel rooms, and you can see anything even 40 miles away. In fact, the Hime no Hoteru took from May 2009 to December 2012. A special capsule hotel house has been reserved for the WV participants.
超宮殿の会場 (Venue of Chōkyūden)
Image
Chōkyūden no Ongaku no Kyūden
Image
The inside of the arena
The venue will be the Chōkyūden no Ongaku no Kyūden (超宮殿の音楽の宮殿). It was built in 1973. In its spot before then was the Chōkyūden no Operahouse (超宮殿オペラハウス), formerly Théâtre de L'opéra de Palatée. It has 600,000 seats, more than any musical arena in Groteberg. It has been expanded to have 1,000,000 for the contest.
Although the name of the Chōkyūden no Ongaku no Kyūden is Asian, the building is European.
超宮殿の主題 (Theme of Chōkyūden)
The theme is Asian culture. Sekai Shiryoku Uta Kyōsō Nijūgo will be the unofficial name for the Chōkyūden, Groteberg bid for the WorldVision Song Contest.

Groteberg....
1. I'm totally not happy with the fact that you have used a RL Korean palace(probably Gyeongbokoong Palace, the one with most importance) and converted it into Western-interiored concert hall. Besides, none of the structure and buildings at Korean palaces are meant to be designed in western Concert hall, much less with a million people for capacity.
2. Your accomodation for guests are totally not fitting their needs. Quality is the main focus when it comes to accommodation for WV bids, not quantity.

Beluga Bay

Take 2. Yes, Yakostan is putting in yet ANOTHER host bid! After 3 atrocious entries, we've decided to let go Old Man Jim, and with that we've decided to let another city in Yakostan attempt to take out the host bid. So in WorldVision 25, our host bid will be brought to you by the "Second City" of Yakostan, our premium port city Beluga Bay. Beluga Bay is at the forefront today's technology and will superbly fit the requirements of hosting events such as WorldVision.

Image
Looking over the Bay itself and towards the City Centre

Welcome to the great city of Beluga Bay! Beluga Bay is one of the newest cities in all of Yakostan, and also the trendiest for young people to hang out in (because new is hip apparently). The social make up of Beluga Bay is 35% young adults, which is lead by our premium college, Yakostan University. This means that the people of Beluga Bay are very supportive of our WorldVision bid, and you can be sure that they will cheer on team Yakostan whenever they can.

Image
Near the City Centre

Being Yakostan's newest city, Beluga Bay has a magnificent set of modern architecture. Glass and light is a common theme in Beluga Bay and sunlight is a particularly precious commodity that the Belugans like to make use of. And it is these materials that the main building in Beluga Bay is made out of, the Sunscraper. The Sunscraper is the home of the Governor of Beluga Bay, and is the tallest building in the city, far higher than all the rest of the buildings in the city centre. The city centre is a bustling hive of shops and businesses, home to many chains, and the centre of many government offices. Take a look around, and shop till you drop in Beluga Bay!

Image
A Harbour in the city

Beluga Bay is quite a small city in comparison to Castle Robin, with only 350,000 people living in it. Still, it is a very small, compact city which makes the city feel big and vibrant. Trust me, you would still get lost without a map! Beluga Bay is situated on the north coast of Yakostan, as compared to Castle Robin on the south coast, and where most of the people are. This means that although you can't exactly travel to any of the other major cities in Yakostan during your stay, you would be able to relax in complete solidarity.

Transport in Beluga Bay

Image
One of Beluga Bay's many Ferries

Since Beluga Bay is a almost completely costal city, instead of automobiles, citizens use Beluga Bay's famous Ferry system to get around. These ferries are state of the art, and can transport you from one side of the city to the other in about 10 minutes, and if you're a WorldVision ticket holder, travel is fee for this service!
Traveling to the city is rather easy. Beluga Bay International Airport is situated only 10 minutes away from the city centre, and there is also a port at the airport so tourists can simply jump on the transport system and head off to see the sights of Beluga Bay.

Image
A view of Beluga Bay International Airport

And if you don't like boats, there's no need to fear! There is a rather large taxi service running throughout the city, simply stick out your thumb and a taxi should be there within seconds. There is also the Airport Express, running from the city centre to the Airport, and the Great Yakostan Railroad, connecting Beluga Bay and Castle Robin in very quick fashion.

Entertainment in Beluga Bay

Image
Swimming with Beluga Whales

A huge tourist attraction in Yakostan is swimming with the Beluga Whales (Which the city is named after)! These animals are surprisingly passive , and love being petted and patted by the many fat tourists that flock to see them. To view these creatures, you have to take a boat from Beluga Bay Port, 5 minutes from the city centre.

Beluga Bay is opera mad, and the Yakostan Opera House is based here. Yakostan National Opera put on a show every weekday, and seats are incredibly hard to get. That said, during the event The Opera House will reserve a third of their seats for WorldVision ticket holders, with free admission!

Beluga Bay Mall

For all you shopping types (Or woman in general) Beluga Bay Mall is just for you! Covering 5 floors and 10km long, it is Yakostan's largest mall by far and obviously there's plenty to see and do. Gambling, Prostitution and Weed are all legal here, so for all you illegal types, there's plenty of casinos, brothels, and weed bars to go around. Rated 5 star by Mall Monthly, Beluga Bay Mall has state of the art facilities including best toilets in the entire Genesis Corporation.

Beluga Bay's WorldVision Accommodation

Image
One of the 26 Apartment Blocks in the Quartz Hotel

Due to to huge berth that WorldVision brings, Beluga Bay has committed to build the largest hotel Yakostan has ever seen! The Quartz Hotel will be a 8-star hotel, with 26 blocks of 200 apartments leaving for a capacity of around 7,000 guests. Around site there is a monorail for getting around the site, plus 5 pools (2 with swim up bars), a golf course, a cinema complex, a casino, a brothel for those types of people and a weed hole. WorldVision ticket holders will be able to book half price. The hotel will be built on premium land, right next to the proposed WorldVision arena, so there's simply no need to take any transport, you can just walk right next door. For those who don't want to use the Quartz Hotel, there's plenty of great accommodation in and around the city centre and lots of backpackers for those cheap folk (the b*stards I mean nothing).

The Concert Venue

The WorldVision Arena

Welcome to the WorldVision Arena! This will be the proposed venue of the event itself, as well as pre-concert and after-concert parties, and can seat up to 80,000 people (but with WorldVision technical shizzle-wizzle this is cut down to 75,000). The WorldVision Arena will be fitted out with all the latest technical equipment, so pyrotechnics, smoke, fire, lighting, television effects, trapezes, wind machines and graphic options will all be able to be used during the event for your performance! Leave nothing to be desired, if you dream it up we can do it. Using the latest sound techniques, we can model the acoustics of the top concert halls in the world and double it, leaving for a very memorable event. At the stage, is a huge TitanTron, using camera shots straight from the performance and maximizing it on the screen for a clear view for the audience. There's no bad seats at the WorldVision arena! Our arena is also roofed, leaving no chance for rain.

Inside the Arena

Note the large hole in the roof which can be opened and closed at whim. Seats are very comfortable, and use top of the range materials to ensure that our visitors get a comfortable event. We also have many food and drink vendors, as well as restaurants for the people with the more acquired palletes.

The Stage

Image
The stage at WorldVision Arena

Our stage will be a breathtaking spectacle. The TitanTron is a large semicircle shape, which performers can access to beam the performance, or another video of their choice. The stage is on giant hydraulics; some or even all of it can be lowered or increased to bring performers down to backstage, or elevate them to higher positions. Half the stage can be elevated and half can be lowered, it's all your choice. All the latest technical gear is here, and is at your disposal, and there's even zip wires if you're into that stuff. The floor can be projected upon and so can the roof.

Backstage

A dressing room backstage

Our backstage is somewhat special at the proposed WorldVision arena, on that it is actually UNDERNEATH the stadium itself. Performers are raised to the centre of the stage by elevator, or they can enter from the back of the stage by door. Our backstage has all the best help for the performers to use, including private dressing rooms, access to makeup teams, prop teams, costume teams, and private assistants. Within the large area, there is a large R and R area, where performers can get a drink, a massage and watch the rest of the event on a large HD screen.

The Theme

Our postcard

The postcard will include a picture of the nation, their name and the slogan in their language. If they want they can change the colors of the kite (a proud symbol of Yakostan) to match their national colours.

Our logo

The logo and slogan shows our hope that WorldVision creates history. Being such a prestigious event, a successful WorldVision can help transform Beluga Bay and Yakostan culturally, economically and socially. And what better way than going into the history books as the host of WorldVision 25.

Thank you everyone, good luck, and vote Yakostan WV25!

1. Groteberg's host bid is the best thing ever prepared by Lymantatia that I've ever seen. I'm not sure if the Japanese is correct, though, but it's already impressive for something on your level. Also, is that the Royal Albert Hall (the interior of your venue)?
2. Queb, if you don't like it then you don't have to give them top marks. I do understand the palace thing but regarding how quantity > quality, I'm sure it has always been that way in Lymantatian posts (excluding his OOC one-liners).
3. Yako, I must say, that's quite impressive. The stage design reminds me of Eurovision 1979.

We'll see who gets my vote. I did say once, the earliest I'll send another host bid (after WV22) is either 'next year' (2013) or WV26. Probably the latter.
