Ben Hanson stood infront of the camera "Rob, over there just to my right, there she is, the Falcon-ten launch vehicle with the Angel module at its nose, and in less than 4 minutes, as she is currently in a planned hold for 5 minutes, this white angel will lift off and head for its docking with Hammer module. The weather here is absolutely perfect, its cool and the wind is dead calm, with not a ripple in the pond. Weather technicians have launced a baloon earlier to check high level winds and they too are calm. In a couple of minutes a graphic will appear in the screen as the launch closes in, I will shut up now as i think they are coming out of the hold" The graphic appeared on the TV screen of ABN 1, and the count down restarted.

With thirty seconds left to go, the large frame drew clear of the Falcon rocket and water started to get dumped into the trench below the rocket, in the control room, Commander Patrick J Ryker stood up at his desk and looked over at the launch officer who pressed the initiator button, handing the entire control to the onboard computers.

At ten seconds, the rockets turbo pumps began to spool up, fed by high pressure gasses,
5 seconds in, the two hydrogen-oxygen engines fired in, This was announced by the PAO as "we have main engine start",

At zero the boosters ignited and slowly the 1,200,000kgs of Falcon rocket and module lifted slowly off the pad, though the falcon soon gained speed, climbing rapidly to orbit. As it did so, the sound from its engines and boosters was deafening, so loud, you didnt so much hear the noise from the craft, you felt it too. The search lights tracked it as Falcon 10 hurtled spaceward. less than a minute after launch the craft was going supersonic and passed through a cloud sending shockwaves through the clouds like ripples in a pond, in 8 minutes time Falcon would be in orbit, next destination, Hammer Orbital module, The staff in the control room erupted in applause and cheers as Falcon sped on its way.

watching the video screens with the live feed, the control room stood watching, the atmosphere was electric, yet no one said a thing, apart from the audio on the video board and the sound of the fans from the PCs, there was silence, and slowly the module got larger and larger in the view, then the image shook slightly as the two modules came together. Then came the words "we have capture", that was the signal and the control room in valeria Port Aurora erupted in cheers.

"YEEEEE HAAAAAA, now thats how you do it! straight down the line and in the hole, Tiger Woods couldn't get a hole in one like that, and what a way to do it", Jim Mc.Byrne was happy, seriously happy, "Where's Pat Ryker? get the PAO here to put a statement out to the world!"

The middle of the Auroran winter is a cold, dark place yet the harbour, kept relatively warm by the cooling plant of the nuclear power station was free of ice and sat moored up to number 3 jetty was the cargo ship MV Mylene, on the quay next to it was a large oversize truck, the 32 axle truck had been driven here by two drivers, one pushing, the other pulling, and on the large modular trailer was a very special cargo which was to be loaded onto the Mylene.

This special cargo was the Merlin module for the Global Space Station program. Aboard the Mylene, work was underway to ready the ship to accept the new cargo, the 20 tonne module which was to be taken by sea to the republic of Celera, here it would be transferred onto another truck where it would then be transfeered to the orbital processing building and readied for lift off aboard a Celeran lift vehicle.

From the bridge, Captain Ramirez watched over the deck as the snow came down, happy to see everyting was going to plan, for his ship was actually a day ahead of schedule thanks to calm weather from the Arctic circle. In the cranes, the operators took their seats, and carefully they swung the two cranes over towards the waiting module. As the cranes came over, shoremen took over radio command, the lead shoreman took his walkie talkie and keyed the microphone
"number one, hold it there, number 2, bring your winch down, ok together both of you ease out the line"

Carefully the two crane operators, sitting in virtual darkness apart from the floodlights on the crane boom and the dash lights in the cab, followed instructions, and gradually the two lines came down to where they were meant to be, the captain of the Mylene looked on, standing behind the double glazed bridge windows, "hey Romano, coffee par favore!" he said, The reply came quick, "Ci Capitano".

"hold it there guys, thats perfect!" said the shoreman in charge, "can we get a cherry picker now to attatch the lines please" he asked.

As the cherry picker operators lashed the module to the crane, the operators kept a close eye on the wind speed, for today seemed to be good for loading, wind speed less than 5km/h, virtually flat calm conditions. With the module hooked up, the cherry pickers pulled away the crane operators gave a thumbs up and the shoreman keyed the mic

"ok guys, take the slack"

slowly, and with the grace of a ballet dancer, the two crane operators gently eased the line in, taking up the slack. with the lines taught, though not too taught, a shoreman released Merlin's transportation cradle from the truck and gave a signal to the shoreman.

"OK, ease her up" came over the radio from the shoreman and slowly the two crane operators hoisted the cradle containing the module up away from the truck, Crane operator 1 took command from here, "Ok Bob, swing her to starboard, niiiice and easy", Merlin was slowly swung over the ships deck towards the centreline of the Mylene's hold, as Merlin came over the desired spot, the two cranes stopped and waited for any movement to dampen, "ok Bob, ease her down", slowly the two crane operators splayed out cable, allowing the module and cradle to gently lower into the ships hold, landing right on spot with out so much as a bang, the module just kissing the floor of the hold as if it were a leaf falling in the breeze, "all stop" called the crane operator in command.

As soon as the cranes stopped, deck hands were in place lashing the cradle down whilst a second team uncoupled the cranes from the lifting eyes, allowing the two operators to pull the hooks out of the hold, recieving the thumbs up from the deck hands, the two crane operators lifted the hooks up and swung the cranes back to their at sea positon, lowering the booms onto their cradles, whilst deck hands lashed the hooks down.

Once the module was lashed down, the hold was closed and secured, Captain Ramirez took the radio
"Harbour control, Harbour control, this is Merchant Vessel Mylene requesting departure on the next tide" he said.

A voice came back, "roger Mylene, you departure slot is thirteen twelve Uniform Tango Charlie, over"
Ramirez looked at his clock "roger harbour control, thirteen twelve zulu aye" he replied, before turning his attention to the engine room,
"engine room, start the main drives please, we're leaving in 2 hours"
A voice came back over the intercom "roger, starting them now"

From the funnel, two black clouds of smoke erupted as the two massive two-stroke marine diesels came to life, this was echoed in the ship by a dull rumbling sound as the two engines started to rotate under their own power, "bridge, engine room, both engines up and running, all parameters normal, out".

Two hours later, the shoremen threw the lines into the sea as deck hands pulled them in, once the lines were secure in the lockers, Captain Ramirez took the helm, advancing the throttles on the starboard engine and gently easing the port engine into reverse, and threw a bit of starboard thrust onto the bow thruster, this caused the Mylene to gently move sideways to starboard, easing clear of the dock.

Merlin was on its way

With the Mylene now clear of the harbour edge, Captain Ramerez reversed the Starboard engine and put the port engine into forward, this whilst retaining starboard on the bow thruster caused the ship to rotate to starboard. Once the ship was pointing to the harbour entrance, Captain Ramirez turned off the bow thruster and slid both throttles to slow ahead. MV Mylene began to sail on its course, leaving South Sands Harbour bound for Celera.

Also, The Main Com Systems Are Going To Be Made By A Foreign Government. So, The "Sickle" Module Is Going To Be Launched By Are Very Own, C-5 ICBM (Obviously with modifications so it will work for space.)
