In a startling reaction from the government, the National Police Agency(NPA) has subdued and arrested several Anarchist, Libertarian, Voluntaryist, Minarchist, and Objectivist protesters in the capital of Lergo. The protest started out as a mass march in favor of reducing taxes, cutting government spending, and introducing a bill to parliament that would guarantee a person's right to private enterprise. However, King Lit X signed a proposal into action that declared the protest to be an obstruction of public safety and a clear act of treason against the government.
The march started out with 1200 protesters. By the end of that day, 800 had been arrested. Those in custody face punishment in the form of several months in labor camps across the nation, which is a very common and typical sentence. Qamda, being a relatively centre-right state, has never had much tolerance for extremists from the right or left of the political spectrum. King Lit X has acted as absolute monarch for twenty two years and aided by a parliament elected from the most notable noble families. His actions over the years have been mostly in favor of keeping the peace and suppressing any form of dissent in the most non-violent way possible.
However, this particular event was anything but non-violent. Police had to apprehend protesters with flash grenades, smoke bombs, clubs, riot shields, rubber bullets, firehoses, and tasers. Mass distress was evident as the crowd splintered up rather quickly due to the crackdown. A total of 320 men and women were injured in the process.
