Don't worry, from my understanding nuclear weapons are not off the table if somebody tries to subjugate someone. But only to a realistic level, of course, so no first strikes unless your nation is about to be obliterated anyway.

Or you could simply use a puppet and lose a colony, or puppet nation as I do. I frankly kind of want to see Severia invaded, so I am using Severia instead of my main nation. Note to self: post ORBAT for attack contribution that is reasonable and would make home invasion entertaining.
