Well, Maxen, and I are doing an inter-Ghamadullan-Khemet-Aeropagitanian event in North Africa, in the form of a Darfur-style conflict where millions of Ghamadullan refugees are pulled back into the Confederacy by the military, which trespasses over the country's neighbour's lands. Mabye we could find a way for central and South Africa to get involved? Originally, we were thinking of just including Lusaka, Nilosahara (mabye) and that guy who claimed Central Africa. But I guess we could include the Zuma in an indirect role, and make it a pan-African event.

I don't think I ever got around to mentioning this here... or did I? Anyway, on IRC I've briefly discussed the notion of a combined AMW news thread. Hmm. Did I bring this up after all? Maybe I was typing this very post when my power went out the other week, heh.

So, anyway, at the risk of repeating myself, I thought maybe a combined news thread here on the NS forums where everyone could post news stories. Modravia and Vexia will know what I'm talking about when I say, "a bit like we had in EE". There we'd post a lead story, which may be international in focus, but may also be domestic thus not necessarily easy to fit into active RP threads, or maybe not justifying its own thread. Then often we'd have little, "also reported" snippets or merely headlines tagged on, sometimes for humour or to hint at other goings on that keen observers could pick up on.

I know we can all do this in our own news threads, and I'm not for a moment suggesting that this would take the place of individual news threads. Rather our own news threads, here or on the off-site, would sort of act as national archives, and provide a quicker way to look through the history of a developing story, or the RP history of a nation.

I think another significant benefit might be almost as an advert for AMW hopefully at its best, and a high-visibility, easily accessible, enduring thread that draws us all together, allows everyone -especially new arrivals- to see what's going on all over the world, even in nations with whom they wouldn't normally interact very much.

In another region, Europe I think, I remember sort of playing out a cold war with my neighbour through the press. He rashly reported the development and intended mass deployment of graphite bombs, where upon I promptly initiated a nationwide project to insulate the national grid, we took shots at one another in press conferences and editorials, and so on and so forth. We can and sometimes do play this out already in AMW's individual news threads, but I wonder if a central hub might not help to boost that aspect of RP.
