AMW Big Discussion Thread

Something that has been on my mind for a while, and it happens in threads like these. Over the years, the grow, and become cluttered with debris of convos which no longer apply to the current way that things are. I've been reading from page one, post one, and have seen convos that whip back and forth between players who're no longer in AMW, or have no influence anymore on AMW 3.0, as this was 2.0 (IDK).

My suggestion: A new Big Arse Discussion Thread.

That is, unless, we're going for the longest thread in the history of NationStates (which we still need time for that! LOL).

But seriously, I think we should at least consider this. Also, we need to ressurect the Application Thread "Nation." Discuss our opinions reguarding the new applicant, then have the Apps Thread Nation actually post some sort of group reply that we're almost all in agreeing upon.

Well, Max, that depends on you, bro. Right now the Chrinnies are still fuming at the Autokrat and their lack of discresion--even if in the Areo's view nothing was done that should be considered inappropriate (y'know, burning a Frenchmen, turning cannons on the plane of a world leader). Currently, you're now Nate's new pet project. To convert the Areo's from insane religious whacko's to peaceful, civil-rights loving, human-rights protecting nation we want you to be.

I can see campaigns designed to "Save Areopagitican" from itself. Charities, relief organizations, greenpeace-like groups wanting to "rattle sabres" in order to save the oppressed--even if the people seem to like being oppressed.

You may have also single-handed improved Chrintho-Kemetic relations! Congratulations!

It sounds acceptable. It doesn't exactly capture my imagination but I do enjoy RPing on a quasi-daily basis.

Just curious, but would that be incorporated into the 'No Homo' thread or a new one? At this point, after a wrap up post or two, I'd be willing to let that thread die. Equally, I can't imagine a better 'megathread' for Areo-Chrinthani relations than one entitled No Homo.

Though I would totally be for reviving AMW Apps puppet and get its original purpose moving forward once more. Did we not agree, here or on IRC, that an definitive answer would be its foremost activity? *shrugs*

Well, honestly, you're still in the doghouse with us, and we're still contemplating a perportional response.. perhaps detonate a missile a few hundred feet above the Pious Household or something.. just to let you know how we feel.

You've seriously created a new enemy, however, in the world: The Imperial Federation of Chrinthanium. So, there's everything involved here... Kemetic-Chrinthani relations improve because of this, probably this also further strengthens the ties that bind the Chrinnies and the French. You're a proChristian nation, and we're now willing to fight you at a moments notice... a Chrinthani-Areo cold war (which has little effect on anyone else in AMW, but could be interesting to RP..with each side trying to out do the other).

And on the French end, the only person lower on Eleanor's shitlist than the Exarchs at this point is Nicholas II, but depending on Valendia's response in the long term to the situation, their stock might go up with her...

I know this will come as a complete surprise (hah) but that was the whole idea! I noticed that since the new Apps thread we haven't done too terribly much in Areopagitican/Lpqy Magna or in Europe, so what better way to get the ball rolling than poking the proverbial hornet's nest? We are the nation you love to hate.

Hmm, Kyr, you certainly have an idea there. Australia accepts those seeking political asylum all the time, iirc. Makes sense that Chrinthanium does the same.

I suppose the problem for any sort of Mexican stand-off (me playing van Cleef, of course) between Areopagitican-France-Chrinthanium would be the relative inability to project any sort of military power. France has, potentially, the strongest force projection (the de Gaulle ect ect) but even then its not comparable to that of the US and her efforts which we're used to. Chrinthanium is similarly strengthened, and probably has an easier time of acquiring Valendian approval to sail through the Straits, yet is located a world away.

Of course, it's not like Areopagitican is going to be storming the beaches of Normandy anytime soon!

So if there is a 'Cold War' between us it will probably be a very unique and, shall we say, quiet one.

I mean, unless Kyr says otherwise, I'm assuming the oil tankers are still leaving for Marseilles!

Though, of course, I am willing to pursue more entertaining if ultimately useless ways to have a 'Cold War.'

I think you, however inadvertently, have voiced my feelings better than I could.

We posted several thousand words, I believe around 15000 20000, and the truth is... We're back to where we started. Sure, you may dress it up as 'status quo ante bellum' but it's really called 'blue balled.'

Huh, great minds and all that ^^... Actually, I supposed that, as nothing too bad happened to publicly, Nibelunc will not sever diplomatic ties, though relations will remain strained for a while, and Nibelunc might actually take this up as an incentive to work towards better Valendian-French understanding in the future. Max, I think Nibelunc will declare one or two Areo diplomats in Munstra personae non grata in "retaliation", and will allow any pagan, satanist, atheist, gay, etc. Areo who comes to Nibelunc or to its embassy in Lpqy Magna to seek asylum in Nibelunc (so yeah, Kyr, Chrin, we actually all had the same thought ^^).

Also, Chrin, Nibelunc will support Chrinthanium in an effort to marginalize Areopagitican, though in a low-key way.
Though I think sending a missile into Areo airspace might be a bit much, I feel this calls for a joint Chrinthani-Nibelung-Valendian naval exercise in the western Mediterranean, right? You know, one where we train for coastal bombardments and landing troops?
Maybe Beddgelert or Kemet want to join in, too?

Fine with me, Cass. I'll get some ships over to the Mediterranean quickly. If the Suez is in AMW, then faster than I expect...though I don't know that it is. And I wouldn't really fire a missile over Areo airspace just to blow it up ABOVE a target, would I? Seems like a waste of a perfectly good missile.

Chrinthanium is shutting down the Exarchate embassy in Sydney--probably much to the happiness of the staff there. We're expelling their diplomats. If they so chose to send us more in the future, we will most likely accept, but it will be a time of our chosing. We've also shut down the Chrinthani embassy in Areopagitican--much to the thrill of those who worked there. We feel that we can no longer be cordial to a nation that would light a diplomat on fire in front of our emperor. We feel this is one step missed in international diplomatic training.

Perhaps Franco-Valendian relations will strengthen slightly here as well. Who knows.

I imagine the relationship between Aeropagitican and Arabia would change a little, but not in the same way as most. The really religous elements in the government(read as: most of the government minus the President) wouldn't disagree too much with the policies in Aeropagitican, but would want to tread carefully lest they upset either their fellow Catholic states or perhaps even worse, potential oil customers!

The Suez canal exists, but it's called the Pharaoh's Canal and trying to send warships through it will go down with Premier Leonidakis like killing his wife and burning his house down. Even if it is to try and strike the Areos. Speaking of striking the Areos, was that African war/diplomacy thread ever actually created, or does it remain locked away in that dark hellhole that is Max's mind?
