Dyste wrote:Indeed, Kib chose to look like a Draconid similar to Fyrah, clearly already immensely fond of his new employer. "Hah, I suppose you are correct, Scott. I guess for many species, being as big and strong as us would be seen as desirable, but sometimes I wish I was smaller; remember how scared I was if how Ganosians would think of me? But regardless, despite what anyone thinks, I would rather be myself than anyone else."

"You shouldn't ever feel the need to change to fit someone else's tastes. I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for whom I'm not, myself. People who are that narcissistic must have minds the sizes of Kib, figuratively speaking."

When the meals comes, they were delivered by none other than Prince Mahks, Fyrah's older brother and the de facto leader of Auram. "Like the fish? My wife manages the aquarium in my casino. Have you had the chance to do a bit of gaming here? Considering you are with my sister and all, I can offer some gold tokens for you to use..."

"Ah, Mahks, you're a waiter now? Well, fetch my kobold friend here a drink, won't you?" the Ganosian prince chuckled, obviously joking around. "Why yes, we've done some gaming, the three of us. Much fun was had, and I've learned quite a bit about kobolds as well, which should come in handy some day."

Fyrah sighed, "Naturally, my brother is still a businessman, and he naturally plans for us to buy even more. From what I gather, you can win money in casinos in other lands if you are lucky? Here, you instead can purchase items and trinkets and the like if you win enough tokens. Considering the money helps go towards improving the city, I suppose it would be bad if they had to use their money just because someone got lucky..."

"What sort of items and trinkets? I doubt you'd find any luxury sports cars, though, but Kib could use a little buggie, I'm sure. Vroom vroom, right?" He replied, with another chuckle, ribbing her gently while smiling at Kib.

Mahks let out a laugh not unlike his father's; it seemed that roaring laugh was a common trait of the family, though Scott would likely be used to it by now, "GHAHAHA! Looks like you certainly have had some fun. As for your question, yes, as a matter of fact, we DO have little kobold-sized cars for sale! Also some clothing, a bit of jewelery, a few toys... we even now stock video game consoles, such as that new Nintendo one, or a few other imports, or even our new local console, made by the Drakonganzo company, or 'Dragon's gaming' in the modern tongue. It is only supported locally, but we are planning to bring it to more markets."

Fyrah was looking over the tokens they had already won from their games, "We can certainly get a few things here, Scott. Any suggestions?"

"Well, buying one of those Drakonganzo consoles sounds interesting," said Scott, "but let's ask Kib what he wants first before I start rambling. Fyrah's face had a look of concern, but she traded in the tokens regardless. Kib happily accepted their new gaming console, and when they got to their room in the casino's hotel,he played it until he decided to go to bed.

Fyrah, on the other hand, wanted to stay up with Scott a bit longer, to talk to him about something... "Scott... I was wondering how you feel. I understand this is your first real relationship, and it seems you are trying very hard to impress me. Perhaps TOO hard..." She put her hands over his,the size of the two being rather notable. "You are not used to this, so I have to tell you; I want to date you, Scott, and you can loosen up a bit. Do you understand what I am saying?"

"Impress you? I'm merely being courteous," the Ganosian prince responded. He seemed taken aback by her words, but wasn't mad about it. In fact, he seemed quite happy, smiling even. "Fyrah, i'm as loose as can be. I'm doing alright. We're out on the town - dating, I'd say - and we've been doing quite good. At least, I thought so. I wouldn't call it my first relationship, per se, though."

He leaned into her and whispered, "It's just the only one which, you know, went.....into the bedroom."

He grinned a little before telling Fyrah he didn't mind spending more time with her. "I'm sorry if I seem a bit too off for you, but like I said, I was just trying to be courteous. I'm good, you need not worry. All we ought to worry about is having fun....and me kicking your butt on that game console, if Kib's willing to let us play some games on it. Huh, what do you say? Maybe he has a racing or fighting game?"

"Yes, let us see," Fyrah was relieved; for a while, she was genuinely worried about Scott. "Yes, let us do some gaming..."

After playing for a few hours (Kib turned out to be the best gamer of the three, while Fyrah was the worst), it was time for bed. A smaller room was set up for the kobold, being too small for either Scott or Fyrah to get in. However, there was only one other bedroom, large enough for both of them; Fyrah figured that Mahks must've known, somehow...

"Well, I suppose the floodgates are open... that is how you say it?" Fyrah seemed excited to have probably used a human saying, "But we have slept together before, so there should be no problem doing it again, right? While you were not bad last time, especially considering it was your first time, I suppose practice is in order." Granted, the bar had been set pretty high considering her own experiences with Coriolis, who might even give Lilith a run for her money. "So... are you feeling up to it?"

"Practice, huh?" Scott chuckled. "Well, it's not every day you sleep with a Draconid woman. How are you supposed to practice for that? Anywho, yeah, I can safely say I'm feeling up for sharing my bed with you. Gotta admit I still can't believe we even did it at all. I mean, here I thought you were this sweet, shy girl, and next thing I know I'm having sex with you. You weren't bad yourself, but still, a bit of me still can't believe it. Well, let's get to it, shall we? If you feel uncomfortable, we can just go to sleep without doing anything at all. Don't think I'm one of those wannabe macho guys. I'm always courteous when it comes to girls. Of course, you'd be the first I actually slept with. I mean, I could've slept with any of the girls I've met, but never did get around to even considering it and.....hmmm, I'm starting to ramble, aren't I? Sorry. I'm still excited from all the fun we had with Kib. I could've had him on that soccer game, I know I could've! He was lucky, I tell ya, lucky!"

Fyrah put her finger to Scott's mouth, or rather the tip of it considering the size difference. "As I said, there's only one way to get better..." Fyrah was certainly going to enjoy herself that night...

The trio spent a few weeks more in Auram, winning plenty of gold for prizes; it seemed Scott was a natural at the tables. By the time they were done, they had enough to furnish a house; quite convenient for their upcoming trip to the private island. Fyrah enjoyed 'improving her form' with Scott, but in the meantime, had plans for their future. And finally, the day came for their island trip. Going back to Undellah, the two set off on a boat ride chartered by Vylon; their stuff was already transported to the island the day before.

As they were being taken to the island, Fyrah decided to share her idea with Scott, "So, Scott, I was thinking... you know how my brother's Duke of Auram, right? Well, I was thinking of having a area for myself to rule. Of course, if you marry me, it would be your realm as well... we could have it on a chain of the southern islands here. We could even use this island we are going to as our 'castle', so to say. Obviously we would have to do some work to get this in place, but what do you think?"

As would Scott. He had admittedly, at first, struggled with the bedroom acts he would commit with Fyrah, no doubt due to certain "concerns" that he had had when they first went at it, and every other time since then, but nowadays he seemed quite proficient at it. He took the initiative and let himself take Fyrah to the bedroom, and the rest was history.

As they were being taken to the island, Fyrah decided to share her idea with Scott, "So, Scott, I was thinking... you know how my brother's Duke of Auram, right? "It would depend on the island in question. I've got no problem with the concept, but I've got to see the land for myself first, of course."

He decided not to mention anything concerning marrying Fyrah. That'd wait, for now, he figured. Was he planning something? Time would tell....

"What islands do you have shortlisted for us possibly using, Fyrah? Will it just be one island, or a chain like the one you mentioned?"

"It will be best to wait until we arrive at the island to show you..." Fortunately, a few minutes later, they arrived at their own island, mostly barren save for a few trees and their cabin, albeit it was more the size of a small mansion. "See, we can expand that into the castle proper. There is not much room here for a town or anything, and it obviously cannot be the size of Father's castle, but it should do for our home..."

Directing Scott to the southern end of the island, Fyrah pointed to a much larger island to the south, "That one, I believe, would be a good choice for the main island. We have not given them names yet, but I think it should share the name of the Duchy. There is enough room there for a city or two, maybe some other settlements. I believe there are five other islands for us to use in this area, for a total of seven. This one is the smallest, but it is around the center of them, meaning that any of the residents could easily some here to see their rulers."

Noticing Kib running up to their 'cabin', she suddenly felt a desire to check it out herself, "Vylon did a great job, at least from what I can see. If it is around his normal level of quality, we can retain much of it for the castle. Shall we check out the inside?"

Scott listened attentively to Fyrah, and found she seemed to have quite the good plan concerning the construction of their own personal fiefdom. He supposed it was just part of the benefits of being royalty, of finding one's self in the heart of a foreign princess. He would have said something about all this, but then:

Noticing Kib running up to their 'cabin', she suddenly felt a desire to check it out herself, "Vylon did a great job, at least from what I can see. If it is around his normal level of quality, we can retain much of it for the castle. Shall we check out the inside?"

He chuckled quite happily. "Yes, we should go check out the inside. I think Kib really wants to go see it for himself. Let's not keep him waiting either."

As they walked, he mused that he agreed with Fyrah that Vylon indeed did quite a great job indeed. He was beginning to believe this place would be just right for the two of them, and Kib, of course. If he was going to run a household with Fyrah one day, Kib was to be a part of it.

As the two of them reached the 'cabin' Kib opened the doors for them. Indeed, it was certainly a mansion inside as well as outside. The place appeared to be fully furnished, having a kitchen, library (complete with several books from Fyrah's collection), dining room, living room (many of the games and other devices Scott had won in Auram were already in place here), a massive master bedroom, and some kobold-sized doors, presumably for bedrooms for the smaller species. The architecture was clearly Dystan, being modeled in the same manner as the castle was.

Fyrah looked around, clearly impressed, "I see... if we build the castle in a similar matter to Father's, we could keep this part as our personal quarters, allow access for invitations, while leaving the rest of the castle open for our subjects and guests to come and go at their leisure. Vylon really did think ahead on this one... though, he did also say that if we are missing anything, to let him know... ah, that reminds me!" Going into the kitchen, she made sure they had plenty of food. Kib immediately got to work making them a meal, and Fyrah put her hand on Scott's shoulder, "What do you think?"

The Prince looked up at his Draconid companion and smiled warmly. "I think it all sounds rather good to me. You seem to have a good idea on how it'll all look, and I don't think we'd need to alter it much, save for anything we think up later. The only thing I can really think of is that, while it's all being prepared for us, is how we ought to handle the issue of, well, us. Fyrah, I know you have this crush on me, and I know we traded each other's virginities, but I don't want to see you get into something you may not be able to handle. Are you sure this is what you want? I don't want you to take this as a rejection of you, however. I just don't want you to get into this if you aren't truly ready. You're a good person, Fyrah. A lot of boys would be lucky to have you - girls too, if you're into that, and if you are, you should tell me so I can watch, so I can film."

He chuckles, showing he's kidding, and then continues. "I just don't want to see you go through something you don't deserve, so that's why I'm asking you if you're truly wanting to commit to this. Think of Kib. I wouldn't want him to be sad either."

Fyrah knew that eventually this question had to come up. After all, everyone seemed to be expecting the two of them to get together; this was the first proper relationship she had since Coriolis (who admittedly, she might've married were it not for him not wanting to commit to a full relationship), but this was something that nobody could determine but them. Likewise, the Ganosian prince also knew that Fyrah would bring this up again. He had had to admit that she was becoming quite attractive to him. Granted, he still felt somewhat shocked she didn't squish him or damage anything during those bedroom incidents, but he had no real complaints to bring up.

"Fyrah. You're not what I would've expected either. I never expected to end up this close to a Draconid girl, let alone have sex with one - and no, I'm not judging your performance poorly; it's not like I am any sort of skilled paramour myself - and yet I find myself drawn to you. You're a very nice girl. Friendly and well intentioned, that's how I think of you. I could care less about how you look as well; you've shown me that even if it didn't work out romantically, I'd always want to have you around as my friend. But before you think I've said no, I haven't. I would like to commit to this, to see how far this can go. If it turns out it doesn't work out, we can still be friends, but if it does work out.....and well, I'd like to think it will....then we can rule this duchy together, and I can finally make you feel calm around me. I sense you worry that I may not like you like you do me, but I really do like you, Fyrah. I really do, and besides, I couldn't break Kib's heart like that either."

He held her hand warmly, and looked up and into her eyes. "I want you to know that no matter what, for better or worse, I'll always be here for you. You deserve it, Fyrah. People would be lucky to have someone like you around in their lives."

"We'll handle that all in due time," he replied, "but for now, let's have some fun. There's more than enough time for us to get into handling such matters. Until then, let's go do some exploring. If we're going to run an island, I'd like to get a good idea of it. I want to make sure I know all about the land intended to be set aside for our duchy: how big it is, how many inhabitants if any, et cetera, et cetera. We also need to think of what to have it specialize in. Tourism, perhaps?"

Fyrah laughed, "You like to plan for the future this soon, Scott?" Letting Kib stay behind to do some housework, she took Scott outside, giving him a more clear look at the other islands. "Yes, Tourism might be a good place to start, but we'd need some draw; maybe to attract humans and races closer to yours to my land's ideals but wary of being in a place where we're the majority species? Well, we'd need a bit more than that, but it can be a starting point. As for inhabitants, all the islands set aside have none aside from us at the moment, we'd need to find some as a base, maybe get some building up and offer it up at a good price?"

Taking him to the shoreline of their own island, she pointed to the closest island, "That is one of the larger ones, it would take us a few hours to walk from one end to the other. But, if you wish to go there, we would have to swim, seeing as the boat that took us here left. Did you even bring one of those 'swimsuits' humans seem to like?"

Scott smirked. "Well, we might as get it out of the way. I don't want you to feel too burdened around me; I want you to have fun, not worry about what will happen between us. You've done too much of that. Don't make me carry you to the nearest theme park or arcade now."

He laughed boisterously and watched Kib for a moment before returning his attention to Fyrah. "A swimsuit? Ha! I don't think I have any that'd fit you, Fyrah."

As he looked out to the closest island, he chuckled. He figured some humor would be good. Of course, he thought, he had come prepared. He had to be prepared for anything, especially if he was going to be running an island. "Settlement would depend on how big our potential holdings would be. I'd wager we could simply lure some Draconids with the promise of peace, prosperity, and hearty meals. Kib would be lonely, so we'd need some kobolds too. Who knows, though? Maybe one day we will be the King and Queen of Dyste. Now that would be one big holding indeed, right? Hahaha.....don't worry, I'm not saying we ought to lead a revolt against Tyroth. I'd find myself in a Ganosian prison cell for that, and I don't think Quinn would be up for giving me any special treatment."

He shrugged, and turned around to face Fyrah. "I don't think we would have much problem getting human settlers and the like. Perhaps some nigrens from AHSCA would come. Their Animalopolis island must be full of potential willing settlers."

Fyrah let out a laugh; he already knew that it would be odd for a Draconid to wear a swimsuit considering their usual attire of nothing. "Well, considering everyone, I would be the one carrying YOU to those places!"

Fyrah was appreciating Scott's ambition, but had to reel him in a bit, "Well, in all honesty, the next ruler of Dyste will either be my elder sister Tynah, or my niece Tyfis by the looks of things. But anyways, I suppose with some assistance from both Dyste and Ganosia, we shall have our settlers. So what next? Forgive me on my ignorance on the subject of leadership, but until recently I was a schoolteacher, not a aspiring duchess!"

"Oh, it's no matter to me at all if we don't end up making the throne. Fret not, Fyrah; with you around, I'd be fine enough. Besides, we'll have our hands full with the duchy anyways; you were a schoolteacher? Allison would make a misanthropic joke about how politics is a lot like teaching children, but I don't share her enthusiasm for such rhetoric. At any rate, we should probably consider applying for a land grant or some such next. We can talk till we turn blue in the face, but we're going to need land first and foremost if anything, and I'm sure we have to go by some protocol to let Tyroth know we'd like to cultivate any spare land he has lying around. After that, then we should deal with economic matters. Currency, how to provide employment, the whole nine yards. Got to prioritize everything, got to make sure we miss nothing. Once that's done, we should be set and ready to go. Or roar, if you'd like, ha ha!"

Fyrah shook her head, "Scott, the land portion has already been dealt with; the surrounding islands are what we have. We are not getting any of the main island, that is for sure. Currency, I was thinking of having a variant of our Silver Pieces, perhaps with my face instead of Father's? Employment will be important, for sure... I think that will be the deciding factor. We should be able to offer jobs both to labourers and professionals alike. If we can do that, I believe we shall have plenty of people to fill in our duchy. Aside from that, it will need a name... something that works with me being the Duchess, and I am not sure people will flock to 'Fyrahland', GHAHAHA!" She patted Scott on the back, showing that even in these serious talks about the future, he was still enjoying herself.

He scratched his in turn, chuckling a little at his mistake. "We'll make do in the end, that I do know. You seem to have the details all sorted out, so all we ought to worry about is what we'll name it. I think we should think of what we want to specialize in first, and then name the duchy based on that. Does that sound like a good idea to you, Fyrah?"

"Well, since we are going to be on smaller islands, I would imagine that we could offer jobs related to sailing, fishing that sort of thing. Vylon's family runs much of fishing in the area, perhaps we can make a deal with him about that? Being close to the main dock to Dyste also means we can work on exporting goods from Dyste, and importing as well." Fyrah was still thinking of the name, "The Urgathan word for island is "Ilex" so that can be the second half of the name. Maybe with a water or sea-based prefix like 'Aquel', 'Hyrd', 'Oshen', there are quite a few words the old language has."

Scott rubbed the back of his neck, unable to think of any name that fancied him. "I'm afraid that I don't got any ideas for the name just yet. Maybe we ought to ask around, see if anyone has any ideas that we could work with? Personally, I think we should see the island first before deciding. Maybe us seeing the island for ourselves will give us the inspiration we need to christen it with a proper name befitting the island."
