(OOC: Puppet of the Iglesian Archipelago.)

A group of 50 people went to the streets, preparing themselves for the Revolution for True Independence, which happened on 4th April, 2012 at around 9:00am (Nalyvena time). They used old tanks, used until 1954, and they arrived to the Parliament Building at the northern end of the Karena Yelyna Avenue (as viewed behind the Parliament building). A person who made the coup grabbed his megaphone and said at the northern end of the avenue the following:

"Karenytenia, until today, has been nothing but an Iglesian puppet state. This has to change! We need to reveal our identity! We're not an Iglesian colony! Our freedom depends on how much we are independent. We shall reveal who are we! Karenytenia is free today! Karenytenia is no longer an Iglesian protectorate! Long live Karenytenia!"

The government changed. The flag did so as well. Before, it was a multicoloured flag. Now, it's a green one. The coat of arms will be the same as the flag, except for the white field. The motto was also changed, from Nele dnu sol dvaye ayva nynta dvere svyle (May the sun of love shine forever) to Pax et Veritas (Peace and Truth). The powers of the unicameral Karenytenian Parliament were removed.

The regime which was overthrown today ruled the country since 1989 in an Iglesian style. In Karenytenia, all drugs are legal, it is adopted an Iglesian-style welfare model, all freedom of speech is guaranteed in its constitution. It doesn't seem different from Iglesiantis actually. Nobody in Karenytenia knows what will happen next, what will change. But surely the government changed. Karenytenia is now ruled by a Council of Transition to Real Freedom and Independence (CTRFI), led by Yarel Vyerelyn. The question is: "What happens next?"

It is usually said that a new constitution will be written.

Riots in Nalyvena

Following the coup d'état which took over the country, there has been a demonstration calling for the restoration of the former regime which ruled Karenytenia between 1989 and 2012. However, it ended in clashes with the police, now controlled by the CTRFI, resulting in 7 deaths, 12 injuries and 60 detentions. The police promised to the international community that the detainees wouldn't be mistreated.

Yarel Vyerelyn, the leader of the CTRFI, promised to the people that "all of you in Karenytenia will enjoy your freedom more than ever." But many people didn't believe so.

A person said: "We know this new government is only imitating countries which also claim to be «beacons of freedom and democracy» like Naziyca or Fascistania! Karenytenia is going to be a dictatorship now; we need to resist!" Another said: "We need to restore our true democracy now! We need to do something to restore our true freedom!"

"Welcome back to ABC News. I'm Kelly York. Today's top story, a coup d'état in Karentetria. Our Senior Correspondent Kristen Steward is in our Los Vientos office. Kristen?"


"Well the situation in Karenytenia, a nation that had been a dependency of the Iglesian Archipelago almost 200 years earlier, is getting worse as we speak. The nation is an Iglesian-style welfare state whose current democratic government has existed since 1989. We believe that the coup was mostly bloodless but riots in the wake of this government toppling have killed at least 7, with another 12 people injured and 60 arrested. The new government claims that there will be more freedom but many people don't believe so. They think that Karenytenia will go the same way as Luziyca, called Naziyca by its critics, and Hippostania, called a bunch of different names by critics. We are trying to get a reporter into the nation but are having difficulty. We are hoping that our reporter will be on the ground there by tomorrow. Kelly, back to you."

A key reason why the coup d'etat was successful was due to one man: Carlos Johnson. Carlos was born in a village in Luziyca in 1979, and at the age of 20, joined the Central Intelligence Agency. With the coup, he had completed his first major assignment in the CIA, "Operation: Restore Democracy." However, his second assignment, Operation: Maintain Democracy in Karenytenia had just begun.

Now, Carlos Johnson arrived at the Presidential Palace, and requested, "I would like to see President Vyerelyn, please. I would like to discuss something of grave importance."

"Of course, your excellency.", a guard at the palace said to Carlos Johnson. He then says to Yarel Vyerelyn: "Your excellency the Mr. President has a visitor."

Promptly, Carlos entered the building, and soon, when he saw President Vyerelyn, he said, "Hello, your Excellency. I am thankful that I have helped you rise to power in this free land, and I have a suggestion. Plenty, actually."

Yarel Vyerelyn said to Carlos Johnson: "Ah, your excellency Carlos Johnson, good evening, welcome. Sit down in this chair; it gives you a beautiful view of Nalyvena. What's the suggestion?"

"My most important suggestion, to you, Your Excellency, in order for a free nation, you must DECLARE absolute power, maybe abolish term limits, and claim a 'communist' insurgency, therefore declaring a curfew between 5:00 pm, and 8:00 am, or any unreasonable time, at least in the rural areas, the cities could be from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am. During that time, the army would patrol the streets, and you will rule by decree. Anyone who opposes you should be tortured until forced to be loyal to you. And if you are worried of revolts, don't worry, we can send some of our goons to force people to disappear in the middle of the night. Trust me." He then smiled.

Yarel Vyerelyn says: "Thank you kindly for your suggestion. This cannot go to the media. Never. This... is... top... secret! Because if somebody knows what's happening here, they'll send it to communist stations such as RTI News or Yareva Informasya. And do you know what? We and those commies may speak the same language, but we know the real truth of Iglesiantis; it's a communist dictatorship where there are two stations: one, the RTI, which is the only legal station in the country, and the other one, AITV, which is a station which has been secretly outlawed in Iglesiantis. And what annoys me is that to appeal to the world the RTI has a bunch of so-called «stations» like TV5 and Yareva which follow the RTI's communist propaganda machine. We need to do something immediately!"

"If you want, I could be in charge of the Armed Forces, possibly as Generalissimo so that you can focus on helping the nation, while we could merge the police and the military into the National Armed Forces of Karentytenia. However, I will not mind having this last request denied."

"Of course you can. May we help the Iglesians to protect themselves from the red threat. That country is not a democracy! They are even using our country secretly as a colony of theirs!", Yarel Vyerelyn says. "And yes, we should make a powerful force, so we sure can merge the police and the military into the Armed Forces. But I'd suggest that to happen secretly. The people should still consider the police and the military as separate services. Otherwise, the international community knows and will do a counter-revolution to overthrow us."

The cameras were set. Even LRT was filming the speech, transmitting it live. Soon, Carlos Johnson stood, on the steps of Parliament.

He said, "Earlier yesterday, the coup d'etat has occurred. However, it is needed to form a stable state, thus these 'temporary' restrictions, to fight against communist terrorists.

Hence, I, Carlos Johnson, Generalissimo of the Karenytenian National Armed Forces, declare, without hesitation, that the President, until such time when the communist insurgency ceases within the Republic of Karenytenia, will rule by decree, for as long as the insurgency continues. Should the insurgency be going on, either his son, or the Generalissimo of the National Armed Forces will become President.

Thus, we sadly declare curfew, with the rural areas (areas with less than 15,000 people in a 20 kilometer radius) will be under curfew between the hours of five in the evening, and eight in the morning. In the cities (areas with 15,000 people or more in a 20 kilometer radius) will be under curfew between the hours of nine in the evening, and five in the morning. During these hours, refusal to comply will get you arrested by the National Karenytenian Police, for indefinite detention for being a communist insurgent. These measures will be temporary, until such time when communist influence occurs within Karenytenia. Thank you, and God bless the Republic of Karenytenia."

Perhaps, it was altruism. Or, rather, it was the burning desire to release control of oppressed nations, like when the Nekrons had defeated the C’Tan Union in a bloody revalution. Whatever the reason, High Phaeron Trayzzn sent a message to Karenytenia.

OOC: Wow, popular thread. Don't have much time to post, I'll just post something short.

IC: A decommissioned Alexlantian carrier plane took off, full of Equilibrium militia members and bound for Karenytenia. With black berets, military fatigues, and Equilibrium patches, they all looked like professional soldiers. They were not, but considering the amount of weapons and ammunition they carried, it mattered little.

Despite Yarel Vyerelyn's wishes for a massive applause, a massive booing was heard. Many people called him (and Vyerelyn) "dictator", "Nazi", "Lyra the Third", etc.. Suddenly, police went on and cracked down on them. New riots began, resulting in 20 deaths, 30 injured and 150 detentions. Like what happened on the previous riots hours after the coup, the police promised to the international community that people wouldn't be mistreated.

On LRT, however, when the booing began, it changed the sound, using computers, to a massive applause.

SIC: Indeed, upon arrival, to the headquarters of the National Armed Forces of the Republic of Karenytenia, Carlos immediately ordered, that ALL soldiers must be brutal to those that are detained, and to execute them if they are found out to be "communist," saying those that are imprisoned are less than human, and once they get arrested, ALL rights must be stripped.

IC: However, the Generalissimo also began a campaign, to promote all those who graduate from high school to join the military for 5 years, to hel defend the Republicc of Karenytenia.

RTK (Radio a Televisya Karenyteniky), Karenytenia's nationwide public broadcaster, as soon as the booing began, did the same as LRT. Yarel Vyerelyn ordered as well the "temporary suspension of the Constitution of Karenytenia."
