Charlotte went down the road a ways to the edge of their property where their irrigation canals met up with the river. she got down to her knees and started clearing it up

"Doin' great! Pa says he'll take me huntin next week. Can't do it now cause it's Easter weekend. Maize won't go cause she's a fraidy cat and all, so momma stays behind with her."
