Velesiya Island Deal secure's Rodarion trade routes

The OradeaII Naval base will ensure the Papal Navy's operational capabilities in the Central Ocean

The recent deal signed with Premislyd which sees a small island of some 400km squared become a Rodarian naval base, has been ratified by the Rodarian Parliament and the brief published by the Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security explains the base's future role. President Ceausescu welcomed the deal as a further sign of Rodar-Premislydic reconciliation and further expansion of relations which warmed exponentially in recent weeks following the signing of the Treaty of Constanţine. In exchange for the island, the Papal Republic has paid some $10.3 billion and reduced tarriffs on Premislydic trade, which is also aimed at boosting trade between the two of the largest economies in Pardes.

The MoDHS' brief stated that the naval base would be named OradeaII in honour of the City that suffered a terror bombing at the hands of the Social State of Natalia several months ago. The base would contain a medium sized airfield and a harbour capable of housing eight submarines and two frigates. However the main role of the base is peaceful, as it would act as a refuelling station and supply depot for the Papal Navy in operations within the Central Sea. The airfield will house six fighter aircraft and four naval surveillance aircraft as well as an advanced radar facility. The base will have no more than 1,200 personnel according to the brief.

One MP stated it was clear that 'the naval base was an established rest stop on the route to Tarsas'. Many have questioned whether this development is aimed at Tarsas or further expanding the Papal Navy's reach into northern Pardes. Others have accussed the military of using the island as a possible missile base, to which the government rejected as conspiracy theorism. Speaking to parliament, Minister of Defence and Homeland Security, Lucian Isar read out the final closing statement.

"This deal with the Islamic Social Republic is not only another step towards full reconciliation, but it is also an expansion of our navy's operational range. There is no price for security, of the nation or of our trade. The enemies of the Papal Republic are numerous and in various different locations, we will continue to make efforts to protect ourselves and our interests from the plots and insidious acts of our enemies in whatever shape or form".

The construction of the base will be conducted by Premislydic personnel based in Velesiya and the personnel and equipment will be transfered by both air and sea. It is expected that the base will be operation by the start of July.

In other news related to the ongoing expansions by the Defence Ministry, they have announced plans to send by air some $3 million worth of arms and supplies ot Armavira. In other developments, President Ceausescu has slammed Hippostania for its blatant submission to HU influence. In a surprisingly long speech to Parliament, President Ceausescu has announced plans to cut every tie with Hippostania including trade.

"At this moment in time, we have witnessed the true nature of Hippostanian paranoia and weakness against Hegemonic influence, It is sad and infuriating to see the HU succeed in swaying such a naive and powerless government yet again. As a result to Hippostanian idioacy, we have agreed to cut all ties with Hippostania, we will withdraw our embassy staff and request they do the same, this will be followed by a complete shutting down of trade between the Papal Republic and Hippostania, all Hippostanian assets within Rodarion will be frozen and confiscated.

As for Armavira we will continue to station our garrison in order to aid in the defence of the Republic against the coalition of Hegemonic puppets and client states. I am certain that with prayer and focus Armavira will defeat this sin, this evil will also be punished through God himself, he will grant Armavira the power to not only beat down Megrelian evil but also the moronic and Hegemonic influenced acts by Hippostania".

The Ministry of Economics has stated that Hippostania will lose some $10.9 billion worth of trade with Rodarion, some $6.11 billion worth of assets belonging to Hippostania will also be lost. The Embassy in Waverley will be closed by Thursday. His Holiness also commented on the growing crisis in Armavira. Speaking at Mass on Sunday, the Holy Father stated his complete abhoration of the Hegemonic Union's policy towards Armavira and Rodarion.

"In all my years of life, I have never seen such blatant acts of desperation, desperation of preserving one's status and power. Gluttony and Pride are sins and will be punished in time by the Lord, yet when I look at Armavira and the poor people of that nation who now suffer at the hands of Hegemonic aggression, I am saddened deeply. I call upon the Hegemonic Union to call back Megrelia and avert the course to war, I also call upon Hippostania to escape the clutches of Hegemonic exploitation and arrogance. I pray that the Hippostanian people see through the insanity and weakness their government has shown in the past days".

Protests against the Hegemonic Union began in earnest today across the Papal Republic, with some 700,000 people estimated to have marched in solidarity with Armavira. Hundreds of Armaviran Benevolence Associations have been set up by Rodarions, who have given away money, food stuffs and clothes for the possible impending conflict. The Orducii has continued to request the right to join the fray in the name of Christian Brotherhood.

Rodarion Orducci Member Nicusor Stănescu In Custody

OPERATION SOLITUDE A SUCCESS!

NDP And Milita Disbanded As N.S.P Authorities Round Up Leadership and Foreign Member

Operation Solitude a massive raid of the NDP leadership and it's paramilitary milita. Over 2,053 members some also members of the milita have been detained and currently under interrogation by N.S.P and C.T.D authorities. The operation involved the National State Police, the Counter Terrorism Divison and members of the Tehraanian UIA which organized a massive sting on the Mayor's office of the Town of Ásbjörn and several camps used to train the Milita in military tactics. Their was a confirmed presence of foreign involvment in the training of the Milita, Rodarion Orducci Commander in Natalia Nicusor Stanescu had been captured by several CTD Agents trying to escape from Camp Hartmutt. Unfourtantly the general of the Milita Kaspar Boesch, a captain in the armed forces was shot dead in a gunfight with NSP officers. Boesch and five other milita members were fataly shot in the gunfight which sprang out near the command tent.

Nicusor Stanescu has been put under the custody of the CTD and after his interrogation he will be extradited to Tehraanian UIA agents for possible prosecution in the Hegemonic Union, NDP President Albert Kauffmann was captured in his office during the raid along with the Mayor of the town. After interrogation of both Kauffmann and the mayor it was confirmed that Kauffmann was conspiring for training of his Milita by experienced Orducci officers. Also was that the Mayor was going to use the town as a bastion for NDP fanatics when it was being planned that Asbjorn and several other towns in the province of Alwin were to form a small successionist state to succeede from Havenwalde.

The plotters of the succession plot have been detained by the authorities and all will soon face trial. It is also known that a number of milita and other members of the NDP have escaped from the raid and are out hiding in a unknown location. Let it be known that these men are armed and dangerous, having recieved training from a experienced terrorist organization. A manhunt for the escapees has been organized by the Havenwalder Army and the N.S.P. Currently two infantry battalions of the 12th Infantry Divison and a handfull of NSP officers have been dispatched to suspected hideouts of the escapees.

In the largest movement of Arthuristan ground troops since the end of the Civil War in April, the III Republican Guard Corps has been redeployed to Itailia to participate in Operation Tacitus, one of the largest ICE joint exercises to date. The forces involved include the 9th, 10th and 12th Republican Guards Mechanised Divisions, 7th RG Armoured Division and 5th Marine Brigade, the latter reinforced with an army armoured regiment and special forces elements. At least six squadrons of fighters from APAF are also reportedly taking part in the exercise.

"As a constant readiness formation, the 3rd RG Corps must be in top fighting mettle at all times." said its commander Lt General Amrita Chawla yesterday in an interview with the ABN. "Our primary mission in Tacitus is to improve interoperability with our friends. It also gives us the chance to test out some new equipment in realistic settings, including the first examples of Falken VTOL dropship, OSM-A UGV and CH-25 heavy lift helicopter from Karlberg Industries in Arthuristan service, as well as the Zulu Main Battle Tank."

According to analyst Professor Moira McTaggert of the Loweport University, this deployment also served to demonstrate, to both the public at home and the Region, how far the People's Defence Force has rebound from the Civil War. Armed with new equipment, and with its store of precision-guided munitions restored with help from Itailia, the Eagleland and other allies, Arthurista's armed forces are now, in her words, "good as new", or at least substantially so.

Ulthrani forces have launched a surprise attack of Itailia at around 2150 hours this evening, landing at the port city of Carium, located on an island east of the Itailian mainland. At least 500,000 casualties have been reported so far.

It is unclear whether elements of the III Republican Guard Corps, recently deployed in Itailia for the joint ICE exercise Operation Tacitus, have been involved in combat with the invaders.

In an emergency parliament session convened at 00:30, Prime Minister Leanne Whittaker condemned the attack and stated that, per Arthurista's obligations under the ICE Charter, as well as the presence of Arthuristan forces in-theatre, a technical state of hostilities exists between Ulthrani and Arthurista. Due to the close proximity between the nations, Protocol Cromwell 1, or "invasion imminent", is now instated in full. All formations of the Arthuristan People's Army have been placed on full alert and the Territorial Reserves have received a Total Mobilisation Order.

The People's Navy Home Fleet, based at St John's Fort, 3rd Fleet, just returning to Pardes after an extra-Regional cruise, and 2nd Fleet, the Pardes intervention force currently in the Central Ocean, have been ordered to commence all necessary countermeasures to ensure the safety of Arthuristan territorial waters and protect Arthuristan shipping. There has been no indications yet as to whether the 4th Fleet, currently deployed outside Pardes, will be recalled to the Region.

Rodarion condemns Italia Invasion - Demands withdrawl of Pravengrian Fleet

Foreign Minister Ionela Istracestu condemns Ulthranni invasion and demands the withdrawal of the Pravengrian Fleet

In a rare extended press conference by Foreign Minister Istracescu, she condemened the Ulthranni invasion of Italia as illegal and a sin, following this up with a demand that the Pravengrian's withdraw their fleet from the Gulf of Celes within the next 24 hours. Yesterday the Ulthranni launched an unprovoked and aggressive assault on the Port of Carium, it is estimated that over 500,000 people have been killed or wounded already, the 'Vatican has also voiced its disdain and shock at the Ulthraani agressive act which has killed thousands of fellow Christians" Minister Istratescu stated, showing that the Catholic Church is also infuriated at this great disregard for human life.

"The Papal Republic of Rodarion categorically condemns this act by the Ulthraani state. We demand that they withdraw all forces and resort to diplomacy before the Italian Armed Forces deal them credible and shocking blows. For the sake of Ulthraani lives, halt this act of barbarism before you too, feel the pain and loss of conflict" Minister Istratescu said, the Government has issued a document to Italia offering full scale financial and materiel support, with some rumours estimating that the first financial assistance sum is around $10.3 billion. Minister Istratescu refused to comment on the assistance sum.

"As par with security policy within the doctrine of Christian Brotherhood, I cannot disclose the extent of Rodarian support for Italia, but be rest assured it is measurable and helpful in this solemn scenario" she replied. She was asked whether the Orducii had stated any intentions similar to that of Armavira, to which she again refused to comment on a security basis. "I cannot comment on the state of the Orducii in this context, I apologise".

Yet several Orducii Cell websites have claimed that they have recieved assistance in aiding Italia against the invasion, with little detail on this came about or what it entails. What is clear, is that support for Italia is high within Rodarion and many people have, like Armavira; moved to form Italia Benevolance Organisations, with the intention of sending money, clothes and food to the Italian refugees, internally displaced. The Foreign Ministry has also informed the Rodarian embassy in Italia to arrange the evacuation of all Rodarian citizens currently in Italia for their own safety. The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security has confirmed that it will still complete the order for some 200 T-330 Anti-Ship missiles regardless of the conflict.

Asides from the comments on the conflict, the Foreign Minister demanded something that shocked many Rodarian commentators and analysts, but was reported to be a full Parliamentary agreed move; the Foreign Minister demanded that the Pravengrians withdraw the Ilopl' Fleet from the Gulf of Celes.

"As with regards to the Pravengrian fleet within the Gulf of Celes, their presence though regarded warmly by the Rodarian government as a sign of support from Pravengria, is something that is not helping the current tensions between the Papal Republic and the Social State. We have recieved several communications from the Social State requesting their withdrawal, due to our current efforts of diplomacy, we believe that the Pravengrian Fleet is not aiding in our efforts and for the sake of security within the Gulf, we request kindly that the fleet in question withdraws from the Gulf within the next 10 hours, if it fails to do so it will be escorted out of the Gulf by Papal Navy vessels until it reaches the official border of the Central Ocean. We also wish to state that several squadrons of the Papal Navy had been deployed to cover their withdrawal and will operate close to them for security reasons.

This not a move aimed at damaging our relationship with Pravengria, but one based on the intention of preserving peace within the Gulf and between Rodarion and the Social State, I do pray that the Pravengrians understand our position. We will preserve peace with all means at our disposal, this move is one agreed upon by both parties within the Rodarian Parliament and signed by the Sacred College of Cardinals, as such this is a complete unanimous decision within the Rodarian government and all rescources will be placed into completing this decision" Minister Istratescu stated to much shock of the journalists in audience.

The Papal Navy has confirmed that all forces have been placed on high alert, mostly due to the instability across Pardes and the various Rodarian interests at risk of conflict. The Fleet of Righteous Vigilance has been placed on deployment order following the Armaviran Conflict's outbreak and is preparing to leave port in order to assist in the transport of resources and personnel to the conflict.

Estovakiva declares neutrality in Pardesian conflict

Cinigrad, Capital of Estovakiva - As the rest of Pardes picks, sides in the recent conflict between the Gran Imperio of Ulthrani and the Twin Amanitte Empire of Itailia. Estovakiva has declared neutrality in this conflict as it urges both sides to refrain from escelating this conflict further as it takes a protective stance. The Volostovian reports as Minister of Foreign Affairs Marshal Pavel Kherkov comments on the situation.

"It appears there is a new trend in Pardes, with the recent conflicts spuring up all over in our beloved region of Pardes. Which is quite disturbing, which is why we urge beligerent nations to cease their violent actions and start negotiations, so these conflicts can end with minimal casulties, while they are in their begining phase both to the civilian populations of our nations and our men and women serving in the armed forces. I urge our fellow pardesian nations to end these slaughters now before they will have consequences for our whole region which we could not imagine."

Minister of Foreign Affairs Marshal Pavel Kherkov continued by warning the waring nations and others joining in on the conflict.

"Estovakiva reserves the right to to protect its territoral integrity, as well as our vital trade lanes in the wast Pardesian Seas should the conflict spil into these zones and disrupt trade we may interven to protect the comercial traffic and trade intrests in the northeren part of Pardes, which is why the readiness level of the Estovakivan Federation Armed Forces have been raised accordingly to the situation as it escelates further. May i as well note we are as well moving defensive forces to protect our base installations on the Premislydian island chain of Velesiya as we see it vital for our force projection in the northeren part of the region."

The Volostovian belives that this translates into an increased Estovakivan presence in the regional waters of Pardes in the sphere of influence or intrest areas of Estovakiva, through means of Long Range Maritime Aviation as well as standard Naval aviation and units of the Estovakivan Federation Navy such as Warfleet Jörmungandr being deployed to northeren Pardesian waters which deploys hundred of ships and submarine vessals along with assosciated escorts and amphibious assault forces.

Fleet of Righteous Interdiction to be deployed to Italia

President Octavian Ceaușescu has announced that the flag Papal Navy force, the Fleet of Righteous Interdiction will be deployed to Italia in order to give the Italians direct military assistance, he also stated that a Papal Marine Brigade will be also deployed to the conflict zone in order to assist the Italians. The Fleet of Righteous Interdiction contains some 265 ships including logistic vessels, it also maintains some 6 Virtue class supercarriers which will be the mainstay of Rodarion's support for the Italians. Speaking to journalists at a Parliamentary Press Conference, the President also stated that the fleet will most likely find itself in a combat situation, but the commanders of the fleet are well-rehersed in these eventualities and is sure Rodarian losses of life will be limited.

The announcement failed to surprise many, with rumours of Orducii units being flown to Italia through state chartered commerical airliners. When asked about the Orducii's growing role, the President finally gave answers.

"We can confirm that since yesterday, some 1,395 Orducii fighters have reached Italia through the use of state chartered airlines, we have chartered some 50 aircraft capable of flying to Italia and have done so all day and night for the past 48 hours. We regret causing issues within the commercial airlines, but I am sure all would see that the survival and protection of fellow Christian lives is far more important than continuity in airline times". The announcement by President regarding the Orducii has confirmed many people's expectations and theories. One analyst stated, "I think the deployment of the Orducii to Italia may very well have an effect on the Catholic population in Italia, they may see that this group, which is so loyal to the Rodarian regime and the Catholic faith, may well translate in the forming of Italia's own Order of the Cross".

Yet most questions were directed towards the deployment of Rodarion's most prized fleet, some see it as Rodarion's flexing its muscles in face of the Hegemonic Union, others see it as Rodarion trying to cement its relations with Italia in order to forward the Church's influence, whilst others just see it as Rodarion moving to defend its long time ally. When asked, what will the exact role of the fleet will be, President Ceaușescu replied, "The role of the fleet deployed is simple, at first it will transport the 33rd Marine Brigade to Etrucia, there they will continue off to assist the Italian Navy in combat scenarios against the Ulthraani. I am confident that the Papal Navy has become one of the greatest in Pardes, it's technological advances in radar, weapons and defences has made it one of the best on the waves, and I am confident it will crush the Ulthraani brigands".

Asked about further assistance to the Italians was met by a potent list, "We have been in constant contact with Ebonvaerum, we have agreed to share military intelligence on the Ulthraanis, the Papal Republic will continue to fund and supply the Italian war effort and we will also cover the costs of the humanitarian issues arising out of this repulsive invasion" the President replied. The decision to cover the costs of the humanitarian issues was met with great resistance within Parliament, until it was revealed that the Vatican had offered to cover the costs, greatly reducing the burden on the Rodarian taxpayer, though many on the streets of Romula stated they would of gladly covered the cost in the name of Christianity.

Asked when the force will be deployed, the President replied "It was deployed two days ago, it will reach Etrucia in three or four days time, we cannot be sure due to the current weather in the Central Ocean, but we do see them arriving well before end of next week". The Holy Father has been in constant contact with the media, giving mass live, leading prayers and giving speeches on Saviour 1 Channel, a pan-Pardesi Vatican run TV channel. Cardinals have reportedly flown to Italia to offer spiritual guidance to Italian troops and rally the people alongside Archon Caius. President Ceaușescu has also been in constant contact with Archon Caius, reassuring him of the Rodarian will to defend the Italians fully. The Foreign Ministry has also warned the Eslovakians about the dangers of stray missiles on their shipping.

The President finished his address with a short message to Ulthraani, "We have dragged us into this conflict through you're greed and barbarism, you will pay in pain and mourning, we regret becoming involved but the brotherhood between the children of the lord cannot be broken and we will do all we can to aid our brothers and sisters and Jesus Christ our Saviour would demand, God help you".

General Superior of the Orducii vows Italian victory

His Immenience, General Superior Emilian Radulescu speaking to press at the Ministry of Defence

Cardinal Emilian Radulescu has been the General Superior of the Orducii since May 2008, since then he has secured the Orducii has a more controlled and centralised force and continuously fought against the growing deviant elements within the organisation. Yet as of today, he has declared the organisation's greatest mission, the unconditional defence of Italia. Speaking at a joint press conference at the Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security, both the Minister of Defence, Florin Georgescu and General Superior Radulescu declared unconditional support for Italia and the Christian World.

Since five days ago, Italia has suffered heavily under the immoral hands of Ulthraania, in which some 800,000 people have been killed already, through use of chemical weapons and genocide. The government has already deployed a Marine Brigade and our most prestigious and powerful fleet, the Fleet of Righteous Interdiction to Italia in order to aid in the destruction of the barbaric invaders from Ulthraani. Solidarity protests for Italia have continued since the invasion began with the infamous outspoken priest, Father Radu Malaxa, who led a solidarity rally in Romula, in which he declared the arrogant powers were fuelling the Ulthraani war.

"The Hegemonic Union, Gratislavia, Premislyd and others are all fueling the beast, feeding it weapons of war and desolation, it is our Christian duty to aid our brothers and sisters with every ounce of energy and will, we must not send just one fleet, but all of them. We should not just keep the fight on the islands of Italia... But take it deep into the heart of the beast itself, we should set ablaze Ulthraania like they have done so, we should desolate their people like they have done so, they have sown the wind, let them reap the whirldwind!" he was recorded saying to the crowd of some 85,000.

Various public figures across Rodarion have also declared suspicions of Hegemonic interference. Cardinal Claudiu Zgonea stated his his daily mass in Hunedoara, "The Hegemonic Union is present in every conflict, every sense of blood letting, the Hegemonic Union is not just Satan, but all of his party, all of his demons and minions combined into one horrific entity of pure evil, of pure sin and sickness, we destroy Ulthraania and its heretical religion, that is one less bastion of Hegemonic evil".

Speaking at the press conference General Superior Emilian Radulescu vowed to destroy the Ulthraani invaders. "The Orducii has always been a defender of the faith and indeed all people's under God's sun. It is an honour to have this chance not only to aid in the defence of our Christian brothers and sisters in Italia but also to deal a huge blow to the Ulthraanis, who practice such a backward and archane religion it is a stain on God's creation, as General Superior I vow that the Orducii with its associate forces from Italia, Eslovakia and Arthurista, we will crush the Ulthraanis and their collection of murderers and rapists".

Asked about the number of Orducii fighters already in Italia, he struggled to find an accurate number.

"I am afraid I don't have that exact information, at this current time we are operating under a voluntary basis, individual cells or indeed commands must vote amongst themselves to become volunteer forces, as of today, I believe there are some 4,000 Orducii fighters in Italia" he replied. He was then asked about how they arrived in Italia so quickly. "Currently we are utilising various forms of transport, all that is needed to be known is that we are getting what the Italians need, we are doing our bit" he replied confidently.

Questions were then passed to Minister of Defence, Florin Georgescu. He was asked about the possibility of further deployments of forces to Italia and whether the Fleet of Righteous Interdiction was in danger as of today.

"The possibility of further deployments is being debated within Parliament and rests upon the nature of current events within Italia, if need be we will deploy further forces, if not we shall not do so. What is constant is our intelligence on Ulthraani movements, possible movements within Premislyd if there is any aswell as the constant of supply of weapons and ammunition and humanitarian aid, as for the FoRI, at this moment in time it is safe from danger. I have been informed by the Navy Command Staff that the fleet will arrive in Italian waters by Tuesday, after that it is by definition in the danger zone" Minister Georgescu replied.

Minister Georgescu finished the press meeting with a quick government statement. In which it reaffirmed support for Italia and the dedication of the Rodarian people to the defence of the Christian Faith. "To all those in Pardes who mean Christian nations harm, hear this. We will be there every single day, assisting those Christian nations in every way possible. You attack on Christian nation, you attack Rodarion, you bring war to one Christian nation, we will bring war to you, you will face a united Christian front, you have been warned, we recommend you heed it".

Government orders further 10 Crusader destroyers

The Ministry of Defence and Homeland Security has reported to have order a further 10 Crusader type Destroyers for the Papal Navy, in a move that has sparked crticisms over the defence budget and the recent orders for further naval expansion. All criticisms have been shot down as dangerous forms of weakness that would see the Papal Armed Forces be unprepared for any eventuality. The Government contracted further construction with the Rodarian Shipyard Consortium (a collection of four major shipyard companies in Rodarion), at the cost of some $50.8 billion. This comes two weeks after the government placed an order down for twelve new Sword class corvettes, which have been designed to prevent or dely a possible blockade of the Gulf of Celes. Last month the government ordered two more Virtue aircraft carriers at which has seen the defence budget increased by 4.1% since the start of the year.

Between 2005-2010 the Papal Navy saw 28 new vessels of various sizes including ten Crusader class destroyers. The Papal Air Force recieved some 17 Naval Bombers and 10 Anti-Submarine aircraft, to which has sparked much debate with the defence analyst community over the nature of the massive naval based expansion. Many have pointed towards the Rodarian Government's fear of geography, in a more defined sense, fear of the Gulf Celes and the weakness Rodarion faces at the hands of a naval blockade. One analyst from the University of Saint Mihai in Romula, gave us this insight.

"Should any state around Pardes, decide to blockade Rodarion, it would be disastrous, the entire Rodarian export system would collapse through the loss of access to the Gulf Celes, so what we have seen here in Rodarion since 2005, is a massive expansion of vessel and aircrat types that would make such a blockade difficult to maintain without high losses. As such, the mass investment in Sword Class corvettes, allows the Papal Navy to launch hit and run attacks against a blockading force at ranges of 250km. The order for 17 Naval Bombers than can be armed with T-330 anti-ship missiles also poses a direct danger to a blockading fleet".

Concerns over the security of the Gulf Celes has always been a major issue for the Government, since 1990 the Papal Navy has been expanded not only to project Rodarian influence and power across Pardes, but also to act as a deterrent against the idea of blockade. Since the late 1990s, the Papal Navy has also surged ahead in the development of anti-ship missiles with long ranges, allowing batteries to be position along the coast and to act as a detterent. Despite these concerns the MoDHS has come under heavy criticism for over expanding its ministerial budget without direct requests to Parliament or to the Ministry of Internal Finance. However Minister of Defence, Florin Georgescu has repeatedly defended the growth of the Navy, last month he was quoted in saying, "There can never be a determined price on national security, our policy of defence is that of detterence not confrontation, we want to build Rodarion into a state that is powerful enough for its enemies not to attack through recongition that it would be costly and fruitless".

In 2011 it was declared that the Papal Navy now has some 948 combat vessels within its arsenal, with the majority being Fast Attack Craft or FACs. The Papal Navy has close to 900,000 personnel and remains one of the fastest growing in terms of personnel and new ships being constructed. The recent orders now see close to 34 ships either under construction or awaiting to be begun. Minister Florin Georgescu is expected to present the Papal Navy's case to the Parliamentary Committee on Budgetry Standards tomorrow.

Pro-Abortionist protestors assault Archbishop of Satu Mare

Archbishop Remus Constantinescu is soaked in water

Six women of the Rodarian Women's Freedom LEague (RWFL) stormed a speech given by Archbishop Constantinescu at the Saint Constantin University in Satu Mare, screaming pro-women's rights slogans and then throwing litres of water over the Archbishop in a sign of protest. All six women were half naked and were arrested on the scene several seconds later. The six women have been reported by police to have previous criminal convictions of similar types to today's events, prompting messages of anger sent to both the President and the Holy Father by Parliament and the Sacred College respectively, calling for the RWFL to be banned.

Although Archbishop Constantinescu was not harmed he was shocked and disturbed at the incident, speaking to reporters after the speech was ended following the incident he said, "Although I am cold and wet, I am not harmed, though I am disturbed by these women's actions and clear disrespect for the nature of the lecture, It was plain rude to interrupt, that is all I am dismayed at".

The six women will face charges of disorderly behaviour, anti-social actions against a Clergyman and public nudity, all of which amount to 8 months inprisonment. Some members of Parliament have condemned the incident as "completly inappropriate and led on by political movements against the social norms" as one letter to President Ceausescu stated. MP Gheorge Antonescu condemned the women as deluded and blatantly against the mainstream of society and nothing more than a collection of disgruntled outcasts.
Another MP who is a woman, from Voluntari stated that these women do not represent the majority and never will, these women cannot accept their biological role given to them by God and therefore have no place in Rodarian society.

Anger towards pro-abortion groups has been strong since their emergence in the 1960s along with other feminist elements. They've been accused by the Government and Church for promoting social division and rejecting their positions within God's ordained society. Other groups such as the Rodarian Liberal Group for Open Sexuality (RLGfOS) has also been accussed of promoting homosexuality and adultery within Rodarion by demanding more freedoms for the LGBT community and single men and women who are shunned in Rodarian society for rejecting the gift of marriage and procreation. Last year a Cardinal was several beaten by a gang of feminists from the Rodarian Woman's Freedom which was later banned and its leaders arrested. In 2004, 13 homosexuals were killed by Orducii gunmen when they stormed an underground Gay Club, prompting a major investigation into the existence of LGBT communities within Rodarion.

However, the larger issue with current protest groups is over the policy of abortion and contraception all of which were made illegal in 1956 when the Rodarian Salvation Party secured enough support with parliament following their election victory in 1955. Many groups use the issue to promote their cause, enviromentalists and even liberal politicians use it as a way of stemming over-population and rampant population growth, pro-women groups use it promote female rights including entry into professional jobs and weaker social constraints. However various counter groups emerged, such as the Rodarian Christian Woman's Association which promotes the current system and states women should embrace their role in Rodarian society as it is in respect for the Lord.

The Satu Mare Police Command stated the six women will be detained without trial for societal peace, they're expected to be sentenced eight months inprisonment within three days without trial due to the targeting of a religious figure.

The 2013 Constitutional Convention which assembled in Asguard voted in favour of 'in principle' support for Hardenburghian withdrawal from the Pravengrian Empire

Breaking News: Asguard Constitutional Convention votes to hold referendum of Commonwealth’s future in Pravengrian Empire

After two weeks of intense debate, the 2013 Asguard Constitutional Convention has resolved to initiate proceedings that may lead to the Southern Pardesi Commonwealth gaining independence from the Pravengrian Empire.

Hardenburghian independence has been an on-off debate particularly since 1964 when the accession of the Pravene Gremoskiy regime strained relations between the Southern Pardesi Commonwealth and Pravengria. Successive Conservative Party administrations have either blocked or reversed all attempts to break away from the Empire arguing that the Commonwealth’s relationship with the Pravene crown is an integral element of the nation’s cultural, historical and political identity as well as saving Hardenburgh from the inefficiencies that beset Republican systems. Loyalty to the Pravengrian crown endured for a number of reasons, including the fact that many Hardenburghian’s even today identify closely with the Pravengrian Crown and between 1964-2007 particularly, due to the nature of Hardenburgh’s foreign policy.

The Labour Party’s historic landslide victory in 2010 beheld the potential for great change in the Southern Pardesi Commonwealth. Central to the Party’s manifesto was a pledge to review Hardenburgh’s relationship with the rest of the Pravengrian Empire. The 2013 Constitutional Convention was the realization of this promise and set about debating what form Hardenburgh’s future constitutional settlement should take. Radical nationalists pushed for the establishment of a presidential republic whilst conservatives fought to maintain the status quo. The model proposed by Labour’s delegation, that the Commonwealth should maintain it’s political system and institutions whilst formally withdrawing from the Empire and revoking the Hardenburghian Crown from the hands of the Pravengrian monarch, in turn delegating his authority to a Lord Protector gained the greatest amount of support, seen as a midway point that would preserve Hardenburgh’s political traditions and culture.

Today, the convention concluded with “in principle support” for Hardenburghian independence. The proposal will now be put to a vote in Hardenburgh’s parliament that will, most likely, produce legislation allowing the government to hold a referendum on the subject, which could lead to Hardenburgh exiting the Pravengrian Empire. It is likely that such a ballot would allow participants to choose from the three alternate models described above. Speaking later on Hardenburgh’s Premier Roch Malboeuf described the result of the Convention as “a momentous moment for the Hardenburghian people and nation… too long has the Commonwealth been denied nationhood due to its subjugation under the yoke of Pravengrian Imperialism. The coming referendum would be a national moment in which Hardenburgh could celebrate its nationhood”. Responding to these comments leader of the Conservative Party and parliamentary opposition Sir Frances Urquhart accused Malboeuf of “participating in the crudest form of political vigilantism as he attempted to distract attention from his governments evidently failing industrial and economic policies.”

Mr. Urquhart went on to comment that he doubted that the Hardenburghian people would vote to withdraw from the Pravengrian Empire, due to the nations historic associations and the “very modern, very relevant economic, foreign political and military benefits that membership brings”. He welcomed the opportunity “to settle this score for once and for all” calling upon the government to accept the Public’s verdict unconditionally. Speaking immediately after the Convention’s vote, delegate and President-Director of the Hardenburghian Future think tank Peter Saxery stated that he believed the “political climate was right for Hardenburgh to vote in favour of independence. Whilst older generations of Hardenburghian’s maintained an affinity with the Pravengrian Empire the youth has increasingly come to see it as an archaic and irrelevant force that prevents Hardenburgh from achieving true recognition of statehood”. It is believed that the Hardenburghian government will attempt to call a snap referendum in the coming months.

Romulă, RODARION (UP) — Protests in Rodarion continued to intensify as clashes between the dissenters and Rodarian authorities left hundreds dead and thousands wounded through Wednesday.

The protests, which began as a small scale feminist pro-abortion protests on Friday June 21, intensified in the face of a large-scale government crackdown on individual liberties. Protestors indicated that their objective had turned from pro-abortion to opposing a vast array of regime transgressions on their rights as people.

UP affiliate and private Rodarian news outlet Vocea reported Sunday that protestors had wide-reaching aims, including promoting democratic reform, freedom of the press, release of political prisoners, and abortion reform.

In response, the Ceaușescu regime has censored hundreds of social networking sites in the country—including 85 online blogs and 600 chatrooms—and shut down telecommunications services to millions of people in an attempt to quell the protests by disrupting communication between dissenters. Although thousands of police officers have been deployed across the country to suppress the protests, the military was not deployed in an attempt to preserve Rodarian democracy, according to Rodarian state-owned news network PRRB.

The government also arrested numerous reporters suspected of undermining the regime, many of them from private news outlet Vocea.

A number of senior clerics denounced the protests, particularly due to the protestors' opposition to the strict religious codes preventing their freedom. Father Radu Malaxa, a prominent public figure, told people to rise up and fight the "beasts" who are dissenting against the regime.

"You stare the beast in the eyes, lift up the cross in your right hand and the sword in the left, and you cut out the beast’s tongue and let him choke to death on his own poison, place the cross on his corpse and then shall we say, we vanquished all that is evil," he announced to supporters during a counter-demonstration in Romulă.

Massacre in Pope Julius Square leaves at least 180 dead, thousands wounded

Rodarian state-owned media outlet PRRB reported Wednesday night that police cleared a protest in Pope Julius Square in the country's capital Romulă, potentially leaving 180 people dead in what is the bloodiest event of the ongoing conflict, according to Rodarian private news outlet Vocea.

Violent protestors allegedly threw bricks and petrol bombs at police before a massive surge by authorities to clear the protest. After a shot was fired, violence and chaos ensued as police fired upon innocent civilians and violent protestors alike. Because Rodarion has strict limits on foreign press in the country, the UP was unable to independently verify the claims.

Pope Julius Square, the location of the massacre, is directly across from the Vatican. The religious significance of the area has led many across the world to denounce actions by protestors and the subsequent police crackdown.

Several police officials responded to media queries regarding the incident. Deputy Police Commissioner Guran Florin indicated that an investigation would be conducted and any police officers found guilty would be charged.

Rodarian Minister of the Interior Radu Hasdeu, however, told reporters that an investigation was not enough. He said that any police officers who fired on the crowd are to be punished extensively.

Pope Pius also spoke regarding the protests, split between the incident being the fault of the protestors and the police.

"I will pray for the remaining years of my life for those poor souls caught between the forces of good and evil," he said, later adding "I believe that the terrorists within the crowd who fired the first shots intended to bring death to the square, but I do believe it could have been avoided."
