Consul Octavian Ceausescu has denounced the government in Utena as a “collection of deluded, lying, murderous thugs”, as the illegitimate government attempted portray the mass murder of 118 injured soldiers and medical staff as a ‘false flag’ rebel operation. Public fury has continued to rise, with over 320,000 people taking part in an anti-Utena protest in the city of Voluntari. Foreign Minister Basescu announced to the Senate this evening that the ambassador to Utena would be withdrawn and the Bogorian ambassador to the Papal Republic would be expected to also leave. Consul Ceausescu stated to Senators that the government may struggle to continue ignoring public demands for intervention in the Bogorian crisis.
This morning, the Foreign Ministry confirmed news that at least 38 Rodarian medical aid workers were killed in a missile attack on a field hospital near the ongoing combat zone in South Bogoria. 22 of the 36 Rodarian citizens murdered are confirmed to be sisters of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart, the remaining 14 are volunteers with the Association of the Immaculate Heart. They had travelled to the Rakovnik battlefield to offer medical assistance to the United Bogorian Liberation Forces engaged in fierce battle with government units and neo-fascist militias. The fact that 22 sisters of the cloth were indiscriminately murdered has caused most fury.
The Senate session tonight was marked with heckling, booing and shouting as Senators from all parties vented their anger at the crime. Chief Whip of the National Catholic Party, Senator Octavian Candreva denounced the missile attack as a “crime unmatched in evil, there is no crime greater” he said.
Consul Ceausescu in his address to the Senate stated clearly that the “Oured Treaty is now dead, it now lays dead beside the 118 innocent men and women in the burning ruins of that field hospital. Utena has shown that it lies and produce the most horrific of lies to distort the truth on the ground in Bogoria. We are dealing with a junta, a collection of deluded, lying, murderous thugs. Not only do they deny themselves the right of sovereignty by warring upon their own people in an indiscriminate manner, but they also show themselves to be without fear or empathy in murdering innocent people of peace loving neighbours. We are dealing with a government that has no honour, let alone respect for international agreements.”
His Holiness Pope Constantine has also called for the government in Utena to confess to “its blatant sin with regards to the missile attack” in a speech on Vatican TV, a special memorial mass is being held in Saint Peter’s Square tomorrow evening, all Rodarians killed in the incident have been returned and their coffins will be present in the square as the Holy Father leads the mass. All government leaders and Senators will present as well as all Rodarian born Cardinals. It will be televised live so all citizens may offer their prayers in unison in respect to those innocent kind and generous souls so brutally destroyed by brigands.
The Bogorian government’s attempt to portray the missile attack as a rebel action has provoked a furious response from both the Papal Republic and the Bogorian rebel leadership. President Wislaw Sokol of the rebel Bogorian Christian Republic has stated that the government’s attempt is nothing more “amateur antics of a cover up, they slaughtered 118 defenceless people and now they claim like a deranged desperate criminal, that we did it to discredit the oligarchic fascists, but the truth is that we would never, never sink to their inhumane level.”
In the Papal Republic, the President’s words were echoed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, his imminence Remus Draganescu, who said that “any attempt to try and present this travesty of human barbarianism as some sort of malicious plot for diplomatic points, disrespects the memory of those murdered ever more. It would appear to me, that the government in Utena was far more concern with trying to prove its innocence than actually recognising that 118 people had been killed, let alone 36 Rodarian citizens, did Utena even offer condolences to loved ones of the dead? No they didn’t, that is how senseless they have become in this tragic war, I would say that no consideration for the dead is a sign of distraction through guilt” he said on a VTV interview this afternoon.
However anger has become prevalent in general society on increased levels, with over 340,000 people conducting an anti-Bogorian protest in Voluntari this early evening. The Patriotic Society of the Papal Republic arranged the rally and its leader, Romulus Culianu led the rally personally giving an impassioned speech, in which he denounced Utena as the greatest threat to Rodarian national security, saying, “if they have no qualm in murdering our most innocent of fellow citizens, sisters and doctors, then they will have no qualm in murdering us in our homes. I believe that the honourable government does not yet fully realise the threat the fascist regime to our north poses.” The rally saw hundreds of effigies of Bogorian President Algirdas Kirkilas burnt, as well as Bogorian flags.
Speaking further, Mr. Culianu again demanded the government launch an intervention against the Bogorian government. “I again urge the government to take firm action against the illegitimate government in Utena, we must assist our Pole cousins in South Bogoria from what is clearly a racialist and genocidal regime with growing dependence on fascist thug gangs for its vicious war, we must tear them down once and for all.”
The commanding officer of the Orducii Corps in Romula, Crin Bunea also spoke at the rally, dressed in his camouflage uniform, he demanded the government allow Orducii units to volunteer to fight alongside the UBLF in Bogoria, “the introduction of Orducii units into the Bogorian crisis, will offer the UBLF an advantage and a strong advantage to defeat the filth pressed against them.”
Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu announced in the Senate Session this evening that all diplomatic ties with the Bogorian Republic would be severed, with the Papal Republic withdrawing its ambassador and requesting the Bogorian government to do so in turn. However the Foreign Minister stated that this would not stop the Papal Republic being willing to negotiate with the Bogorian government in future over the crisis, but stressed that the Papal Republic would not treat the Bogorian government with the same clemency as in the past. The Foreign Minister also stated that experts had been sent to Plowy to begin an investigation into the missile attack, they stated that they might be able to identify the direction the missile came from, which will confirm that the government was responsible. The Foreign Minister also stressed that all evidence will be published to the OPA for independent verification.
As the situation remains ongoing and fluid, we will keep you updated.
