Consul denounces Bogorian government as "murderous thugs"

Image

Consul Ceausescu led the heated Senate Session in which he denounced the Bogorian government

Consul Octavian Ceausescu has denounced the government in Utena as a “collection of deluded, lying, murderous thugs”, as the illegitimate government attempted portray the mass murder of 118 injured soldiers and medical staff as a ‘false flag’ rebel operation. Public fury has continued to rise, with over 320,000 people taking part in an anti-Utena protest in the city of Voluntari. Foreign Minister Basescu announced to the Senate this evening that the ambassador to Utena would be withdrawn and the Bogorian ambassador to the Papal Republic would be expected to also leave. Consul Ceausescu stated to Senators that the government may struggle to continue ignoring public demands for intervention in the Bogorian crisis.

This morning, the Foreign Ministry confirmed news that at least 38 Rodarian medical aid workers were killed in a missile attack on a field hospital near the ongoing combat zone in South Bogoria. 22 of the 36 Rodarian citizens murdered are confirmed to be sisters of the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Heart, the remaining 14 are volunteers with the Association of the Immaculate Heart. They had travelled to the Rakovnik battlefield to offer medical assistance to the United Bogorian Liberation Forces engaged in fierce battle with government units and neo-fascist militias. The fact that 22 sisters of the cloth were indiscriminately murdered has caused most fury.

The Senate session tonight was marked with heckling, booing and shouting as Senators from all parties vented their anger at the crime. Chief Whip of the National Catholic Party, Senator Octavian Candreva denounced the missile attack as a “crime unmatched in evil, there is no crime greater” he said.

Consul Ceausescu in his address to the Senate stated clearly that the “Oured Treaty is now dead, it now lays dead beside the 118 innocent men and women in the burning ruins of that field hospital. Utena has shown that it lies and produce the most horrific of lies to distort the truth on the ground in Bogoria. We are dealing with a junta, a collection of deluded, lying, murderous thugs. Not only do they deny themselves the right of sovereignty by warring upon their own people in an indiscriminate manner, but they also show themselves to be without fear or empathy in murdering innocent people of peace loving neighbours. We are dealing with a government that has no honour, let alone respect for international agreements.”

His Holiness Pope Constantine has also called for the government in Utena to confess to “its blatant sin with regards to the missile attack” in a speech on Vatican TV, a special memorial mass is being held in Saint Peter’s Square tomorrow evening, all Rodarians killed in the incident have been returned and their coffins will be present in the square as the Holy Father leads the mass. All government leaders and Senators will present as well as all Rodarian born Cardinals. It will be televised live so all citizens may offer their prayers in unison in respect to those innocent kind and generous souls so brutally destroyed by brigands.

The Bogorian government’s attempt to portray the missile attack as a rebel action has provoked a furious response from both the Papal Republic and the Bogorian rebel leadership. President Wislaw Sokol of the rebel Bogorian Christian Republic has stated that the government’s attempt is nothing more “amateur antics of a cover up, they slaughtered 118 defenceless people and now they claim like a deranged desperate criminal, that we did it to discredit the oligarchic fascists, but the truth is that we would never, never sink to their inhumane level.”

In the Papal Republic, the President’s words were echoed by the Cardinal Secretary of State, his imminence Remus Draganescu, who said that “any attempt to try and present this travesty of human barbarianism as some sort of malicious plot for diplomatic points, disrespects the memory of those murdered ever more. It would appear to me, that the government in Utena was far more concern with trying to prove its innocence than actually recognising that 118 people had been killed, let alone 36 Rodarian citizens, did Utena even offer condolences to loved ones of the dead? No they didn’t, that is how senseless they have become in this tragic war, I would say that no consideration for the dead is a sign of distraction through guilt” he said on a VTV interview this afternoon.

However anger has become prevalent in general society on increased levels, with over 340,000 people conducting an anti-Bogorian protest in Voluntari this early evening. The Patriotic Society of the Papal Republic arranged the rally and its leader, Romulus Culianu led the rally personally giving an impassioned speech, in which he denounced Utena as the greatest threat to Rodarian national security, saying, “if they have no qualm in murdering our most innocent of fellow citizens, sisters and doctors, then they will have no qualm in murdering us in our homes. I believe that the honourable government does not yet fully realise the threat the fascist regime to our north poses.” The rally saw hundreds of effigies of Bogorian President Algirdas Kirkilas burnt, as well as Bogorian flags.

Speaking further, Mr. Culianu again demanded the government launch an intervention against the Bogorian government. “I again urge the government to take firm action against the illegitimate government in Utena, we must assist our Pole cousins in South Bogoria from what is clearly a racialist and genocidal regime with growing dependence on fascist thug gangs for its vicious war, we must tear them down once and for all.”

The commanding officer of the Orducii Corps in Romula, Crin Bunea also spoke at the rally, dressed in his camouflage uniform, he demanded the government allow Orducii units to volunteer to fight alongside the UBLF in Bogoria, “the introduction of Orducii units into the Bogorian crisis, will offer the UBLF an advantage and a strong advantage to defeat the filth pressed against them.”

Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu announced in the Senate Session this evening that all diplomatic ties with the Bogorian Republic would be severed, with the Papal Republic withdrawing its ambassador and requesting the Bogorian government to do so in turn. However the Foreign Minister stated that this would not stop the Papal Republic being willing to negotiate with the Bogorian government in future over the crisis, but stressed that the Papal Republic would not treat the Bogorian government with the same clemency as in the past. The Foreign Minister also stated that experts had been sent to Plowy to begin an investigation into the missile attack, they stated that they might be able to identify the direction the missile came from, which will confirm that the government was responsible. The Foreign Minister also stressed that all evidence will be published to the OPA for independent verification.

As the situation remains ongoing and fluid, we will keep you updated.

DBN reports
Mark Terry retracts Bogoria remarks amid criticism
Union of the Right leader says he was "misinformed" due to a "communications error"

Mark Terry, leader of the Union of the Right, has retracted his statement that the Bogorian government was most likely to blame for yesterday's attack on a rebel field hospital.

The press conference had taken place at Parliament House yesterday afternoon. When discussing the Bogorian Civil War and the prospect of escalation of the conflict, Terry had argued that the government should support the Bogorian government but show restraint:
It's easy to treat the Bogorian conflict as being a match of goodies versus baddies, but no-one's perfect in the conflict. The Utena government isn't angelic. The militia forces who have been assisting them are often as bad as the rebels. I mean, a field hospital for rebels and Rodarian forces was attacked a few hours ago. It must have been pro-Utena forces; why would the rebels blow up their own hospital?

Towards the end of the press conference, Terry was visited by his communications director Andrew Rawsley, who had a private conversation with him for 5 minutes. Afterwards, Terry then gave a partial retraction:
We still don't know the details about that Bogoria incident so I'm not going to rush to conclusions on that matter. If it sounded like I did, I will retract that statement.

The Bogorian government denied firing the missile and suggesting it was either the result of rebels firing inaccurate equipment or a possible 'false flag' operation to discredit them. The missile was of a type used by the Bogorian armed forces, but some of them have fallen into rebel hands. The Rodarian government and the Christian Republic rebels were quick to angrily blame the Bogorian government and both said that the ceasefire agreement had been violated. The CDI are continuing to cautiously provide support for the Bogorian government and are sceptical towards the Papal Republic's allegations. Tim McDonald, the Minister of Defence, said that "Mr. Terry is spectacularly naive to automatically assume that the Bogorian government must automatically be blamed."

Today, Terry returned to a debate in the House of Communes, where he was criticised for the remarks. Several MPs brought in copies of the The Herald Sun, which had published the story on the front page with the headline: "MARK TERRY GETS DUPED BY RODARION." Leon Wilkinson, a DSWP backbencher, said that "Mr. Speaker, I would like to tell Mr. Terry that I don't think it's right to bring in copies of a newspaper to mock Mark Terry's statements. So I did this instead." He then removed his coat to reveal he was wearing a t-shirt with the same article printed on it.

Terry told the rowdy House of Communes that "I was misinformed because of a communications error. I was given incomplete and inaccurate information about the hospital incident and was not aware of some of the crucial facts. I have already retracted my statement that implied that the Bogorian government was responsible. Is that enough? Will you leave me alone?" Several DSWP (and a few Liberal) backbenchers promptly shouted "No!" in response.

Wilkinson then returned to the rostrum to ask "I wonder if Mr. Terry's response was also dictated to him by Rodarion?" DSWP chairman John Simeon said that "If the Union of the Right is relaying Rodarian propaganda, it's actually a nice change from their usual bashing of immigrants and gay people." Opposition leader Tom McFadden, who may have to ally with Terry's party if he wins the 2015 federal election, said that "Some of the attacks that the DSWP levelled against Terry were unfair. They tried to make out he was a pro-Rodarian quisling, but he isn't. He's just rather incompetent." Party chairman Leonard Pierce said afterwards that "For our party, this has been a bad day in a bad month."

Former Chancellor Kenneth Sala said that "Mark Terry was unlucky today. It wasn't his fault - he was given the wrong information - but as a result the DSWP have managed to successfully portray him as being out of touch on foreign policy. Our party needs to sort out its public relations infrastructure very quickly. We had PR disasters when I led the Union of the Right, where our politicians would say the wrong thing at the wrong time without meaning to, and it has been a problem for all three of my successors. The DSWP and Liberals both have slick PR machines and teams of spin doctors. We need that too. It's not a type of politics that I particularly like, but we do need to accept it."

Arcevia becomes 9th member of the RCO

Image

General Secretary Gregory Churgin announced Arcevia's admission at the RCO HQ in Romula

The Romula Cooperation Organisation’s General Secretary, Gregory Churgin has officially announced that the Union of Arcevian Republics has been admitted into the organisation. Mr. Churgin stated Arcevia would offer the RCO great assets and he is certain that the newest member would contribute greatly to the mutually beneficial development the RCO offers to all of its members. He also stated “time and time again the Romula Cooperation Organisation has proved that mutual development, cooperation over creed and dogma is the finest path towards global security and peace, Arcevia is now a part of the success story.”

Arcevia is the 9th nation to join the RCO and the first nation from Australis to do so. The Papal Republic has heralded the admission of Arcevia, Proconsul Alexandrescu spoke to NTV news this morning, stating that the news as a “success for the RCO and Arcevia. Arcevia has enjoyed good relations with many RCO members including the Papal Republic and Estovakiva, now they’re in a great position to truly expand ties with some of the most important and prosperous states in the world today and I am sure that all nations of the RCO welcome Arcevia with open arms.”

Proconsul Alexandrescu also stated that the country’s entry into the RCO will not offer it strong economic benefits, with free access to some of the largest economies in the world, but also offer security from nearby threats. “Arcevia is now much more secure, something I am sure guided their application. Arcevia is now more economically strengthened, but also it is much more secure from aggressive ideologue states that may wish to inflict harm upon Arcevia through blind support for its neighbour.”

Arcevia has joined as a ‘Full Member’, enabling it to have full access to the RCO’s economic mechanisms just as the RCO Investment Council (RCOIC), which directs large sums of money into numerous projects within memberstates’ territory, especially infrastructure development and gaining access to raw materials, such as gas and oil fields. Gregory Churgin also explained that Arcevia is bound to benefit from the annual $250 billion the RCO is able to invest in projects across all of its members.

"Already we have been in discussions with the Arcevian government about possible routes for RCO investment, of course infrastructure is a top priority as it is across the board in this organisation. We're looking at other possible routes for investment including green energy, agricultural improvements and aiding Arcevian science and research development, a very exciting time no doubt" he said.

The formal event where the leaders of the Arcevian state sign up to the RCO Charter of Cooperation and Friendship will be held in Davenport on Teusday, the signing marks the official entry of the Union of Arcevian Republics into the Romula Cooperation Organisation.

OOC: posting an Op-Ed from an Arcevian government-in-exile's perspective. Next one's going to be from the Supreme Chancellor.
So propaganda, much nationalism, very sarcasm, wow....

Image

Webb: "We had it coming."
"Never push the lion to the corner, it will try and bite back." It seems this proverb is prophetic.
Mitchell Webb, (Op-Ed contributor)
Editor's note: Mitchell Webb is an Op-Ed contributor for The Daily Inquirer and a comedian residing in Akureyi, Tule.

Folks, we had it coming.

Decades of anti-Arcevian rhetoric has led to this. Arcevia for many years has stood alone, enforcing an armed neutrality for the most of its history. Just yesterday, this policy of "forever alone" as one internet meme would put it (Rather succinct, I might add), is come to end. The Valentine's Day Crisis was the catalyst, starting with two missiles, one heavily damaged UAN frigate and hundreds of casualties. The State of Tule and its then-Skandarian Union (now OSEN) allies has surprised the Arcevian government that it feared their near-century old grip to power will end. The Supreme Council, and its Chancellor, feared for their jobs and contemplated about it for the next 26 years. After a tense peace that resulted from it, Urquhart and Landakot settled their differences in 1990 at the neutral Lovehavn and signed the Kjellen Agreement.

Today, the Supreme Council cheered as the Union of Arcevian Republics officially joins the great RCO family.

And our hopes of seeing the Parliamentarian Flag raised on the Lionhead is dashed once again. But no matter, the Arcevian Parliament-in-Exile is nothing but patient.

What does it mean for the Arcevian autocrats in Davenport? Well, billions of URD funding from the RCO on whatever these guys have. Arcevia's economy is also expected to rise as well. With them being a full member, they have access to a larger trade network than what they were playing around with back in 2014. Perks of being a full member is that they get to decide on whether the Arcevian government might add a base for these RCO folks. In 2014, their combined economy is worth 64 trillion URD.

While it is fun to poke fun and demonize these autocrats, we should look at some of their accomplishments. Despite not joining any major regional partnerships, Arcevia managed to snag trade deals with various countries across the world. The Arcevian mixed market economy is worth 4 trillion URD as in 2014, the largest in Australis. They even trade with the State of Tule and some of the OSEN countries despite their animosities. These autocrats rejected some of the aspects of neo-liberalism that seem to spread across Pardes like a plague.
"Time will tell, but with the RCO
now in the play, be sure as hell
we're going to be stateless refugees
for a lot longer."

What worries me about the RCO partnership is they could also help speed up the nuclear weapons program the autocrats are alleged of running. This of course has been denied many times by the Arcevian Supreme Council, claiming that it "goes against the Directives of the Republics."

So what about us? Us Arcevians with hopes and dreams of returning to our motherland and overthrowing the autocratic regime? The one responsible for countless forced disappearances and human rights abuses? What about our legitimate government with a true democratic regime?

Time will tell, but with the RCO now in the play, be sure as hell we're going to be stateless refugees for a lot longer.

That one fellow from the National Exprima might be right, we, the Tulese, and the rest of OSEN should be worried. Thanks to our efforts, we pushed the autocrats to the corner and it bit back hard with an alliance.

Very Hard.

OSEN might consider options to placate these RCO folk. Once they latch on, you can be sure as hell they will fight back if you want them out.

Only a Matter of Time
"Only a matter of time until RCO troops are stationed in Arcevia" Says President
Marie-Claude Dembélé | 17/4/15 | 1830 SUT

After almost a week of silence, the President finally held a press conference early this morning regarding Arcevian admittance into the Romulă Cooperation Organisation. The move to join the RCO was not surprising at all to any political analyst in Sieuxerr from 1989 onward. The ties between the RCO, namely Rodarion, and Arcevia were evident before the Valentine's Day Crisis, and they've only grown stronger since. Especially with the replacement of the government in Arcevia, these ties only strengthened as RCO lobbyists began to strongly push for Arcevian and RCO cooperation.

In the conference today, the President proved highly skeptical of the overall intentions the Romulă Cooperation Organisation and of General Secretary Gregory Churgin, calling out their motives in attempting to produce another base to further push OSEN business interests out of Arcevia and to involve a response from the combined OSEN military forces. This in with RCO military bases being created in Ashizwe, which directly threaten the Republic of Kigeme and the Sieuxerrian troops and citizens that live and work there. Also with the armaments having been stationed in the Saint Victor Islands, directly threatening Skandera's major shipping lanes.

"I warn Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton and speak directly to Council Spokesperson Anthony Decker on this matter. While you may desire only to ascertain the economic benefits of joining the RCO, your wish of not hosting RCO troops or bases is not your decision, but is instead the choice of the headboss of RCO and their 'democratically elected' Consul Ceausescu on just what happens in your nation. Joining the RCO is much so like joining in a pact with the Devil of Catholicism. That once you join you are doomed to further spiral down into the abyss. I only have pity for the people of Arcevia, as they have been led to join in this pact with the Devil by silver tongued liars, claiming prosperity at the cost of self-autonomy. I hope they are prepared to welcome their new Rodarion masters with open arms.

It is only a matter of time before we see RCO troops and military bases established in Arcevia. We'll soon see military exercises between the two off the waters of Tule, in the classic Cold War style, attempted to evoke a response from not only the Republic of Sieuxerr, but from the combined might of OSEN itself. However one must as themselves if this move is wise, if this move was not short sided, if not possibly that this move only steels our resolve to secure the State of Tule from threats from theocracies and other nations built upon the oppression of mankind over the basis of sexuality, of by what name they call their higher powers, and of someone holding discrepancies against the government."

The Presidents statements are highly-controversial, and have been reported by many news outlets across the world. However, while we have been given the response of Sieuxerr, one can only await the response of the Consul himself, and of Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton.

Arcevian membership within RCO meet with "concern" by OSEN member
Autarch Vladimir Volostov welcomes Arcevia into the RCO family
18-April-2015 | Freja Olaffssen (@FrejaOlaffsen) (TVNP)
Image
"President Auriol "criticism" of Arcevia`s decisions only to alienate it further with fearmongering" - Autarch Vladimir Makarov

Cinigrad, Estovakiva - Autarch Vladimir Volostov held a meeting with members off his own cabinet all of which are United Novaya-Esto Front party members and military advisers. The topics at hands were the Arcevian membership in the RCO and the criticism it has meet by President Auriol of Sieuxerr whom has called out the RCO motives of Arcevia`s entry into the RCO.

Autarch Vladimir Volostov had these things to say about Arcevia`s RCO membership. "The sovereign nation of Arcevia has done the correct thing, by joining the RCO as a ’full member’ not only offers it strong economic benefits, with free access to some of the largest economies in the world, but also offer security from nearby threats echoing the words by Estovakivan national Gregory Churkin on the matter the Auarch also noted that the RCO also promotes trade with other organisations. President Auriol should know better than to assume that the government of Arcevia is incapable of making its own independent decisions as an independent and sovereign nation of the world I am quite sure Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton and Council Spokesperson Anthony Decker is aware that each RCO member is valued as much as the other as witnessed by our influx of RCO funding into the nations of the within our organization by all members of the RCO. No mister president we are not silver tonged liars nor are my Rodarion collagues nor Sturmian, nor Ulthrannian, nor any of the RCO members are. Now what basis is you`re doom prophecy based on? That is something we would really much like to know, as observed it is highly controversial which is why I hope the rest of OSEN will show more restraint on this subject rather than to burst out in what can only be described as a prophecy of doom, they are a now a responsible actor on the world stage afterall.

"In regards to the situation on the continent of Australis, it is within the fully right of Arcevia as a sovereign nation to ask for protection or support by RCO members, as it is the full right of Tule to ask for protection or support by OSEN members. President Auriol seems entierly unaware of the base known as SAN Keflavik which is based in northern Tule which houses the 4th Carrier Strike Group, several destroyer squadrons. Squadrons of strike fighters and fighter aircrafts from various member of OSEN, including naval bombers, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare aircraft these units has certainly held exercises not far away from Arcevia itself. Now I wonder if this were the independent decision made by the Tulese goverment to host a base of magnitude within the proximity of Taveriya and Arcevia itself? But is instead the choice of the more hawk like head bosses of OSEN?

Such hypocrisy only steels our resolve in ensuring that RCO safety of RCO members from aggressive nations and to ensure that threats will be meet with the full might of the RCO. However we are not going to seek a response from the combined OSEN military forces President, Auriol by suddenly hosting large scale exersices merely a stone throw away from the territoral waters of Tule. Such would be foolish as it would simply increase tensions however Estovakiva will feel obligated to deploy troops to Arcevia should it be wished for by Arcevia as it has the full right to ask for such and we have the full right to say yes or no as you have with Tule, but we will most likely not play the same dangerous games as you are. As we seek to cooperate and peacefully coexist with all nations of the world as any organisation that is a responsible actor on the world stage should.

After these statements the world(s) press now awaits the response of the consul and Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton himself.
TVNP`s Melinya Sharpov contributed to this report.

FM Basescu denounces Sieuxerr President

Image

Foreign Minister Basescu warned against "dangerous assumptions and fearmongering in Australis"

President of Sieuxerr, Adrien Auriol has unleashed a vicious triade against the RCO this morning in light of Arcevia’s admission into the Romula Cooperation Organisation, to which has been met with hostility and shock by Rodarian officials. In a press conference this morning, Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu denounced the President’s words of that of a ‘paranoid wreck engulfed in hypocrisy’. President Auriol claims that membership of the RCO results in members becoming nothing more than client states of the Papal Republic, something Minister Basescu claimed was “toxic politics of fear mongering.” The Vatican is also shocked by the President’s comments, comparing Catholicism to the devil.

Speaking at midday for his daily press conference, Minister Basescu stated that “Arcevia is a sovereign state, something the Sieuxerrians deny those in Kigeme no less, if Arcevia wishes to host an RCO military facility and linked forces then that is the rightful decision of its government. I would remind President Auriol that Arcevia has been pushed into seeking help from abroad in light of the sheer OSEN aggression shown in the Valentine’s Day Crisis, we have shown no such aggression to any OSEN member, this is one symptom of growing fear mongering within OSEN capitals.”

“10,000 OSEN troops are present in Tule, present before even Arcevia had the internal debate over RCO membership, I cannot help but state the obvious level of hypocrisy, which appears to be a common theme in Adrien Auriol’s president. As to this theory of the RCO pushing out OSEN business interests in Arcevia, I and the Consul of his Holiness’ Government are shocked, where is the evidence? As to plans to enact some cold war policy of war games and aggressive intrigue, did President Auriol consult a fortune teller? He must of done since such a theory is preposterous. President Auriol also believes that the Papal Republic’s right to transfer military forces from one area of its sovereign territory to another is a crime, and that forces deployed to Saint Viktor to protect it from aggression, just as Sieuxerr has soldiers in Kigeme to do the same, is a threat to Skanderan shipping lanes. This man painting a seriously dangerous picture and I hope sensible minds across the globe see through it” he said further.

General Secretary Gregory Churgin also spoke up this morning, saying, “the RCO does not operate a policy of evicting the interests of other states from its members, we embrace all interests that aid the peaceful development of its members, including trade with other organisations, I do not think President Auriol understands the RCO very well, he appears to be seeing something completely alien to the truth.”

Consul Octavian Ceausescu spoke briefly about the situation to the press before visiting to the Pope for a meeting on the situation in Bogoria, he took a more humorous approach, “Sieuxerr has a base in Tule, claims that the RCO admission is a direct attack upon its interests, did we stop interrupt plans for an OSEN offensive against Tule’s nemesis? President Auriol is playing dangerous games where they are not needed.”

Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu recommended that Arcevia and Tule engage in talks to reach a mutual understanding of their respective memberships to the RCO and OSEN to avoid any incorrect assumptions or construction of baseless lies and fears, “I would recommend to the governments of Arcevia and Tule to conduct bilateral talks to reach a mutual understanding of their positions within their respective alliances, neither can risk growing assumptions or be placed into a position where the fearmongering and aggression of an outside state can influence its own attitudes towards this situation, it would secure not only a truly necessary understanding of this dynamic in Australis but I suspect also maintain current levels of peace and stability, no matter what other heads of state may wish to see develop for their own gain.”

President Auriol has also caused outrage in the Vatican and across the Church State in general with his unforgivable statement, “Joining the RCO is much so like joining in a pact with the Devil of Catholicism. That once you join you are doomed to further spiral down into the abyss”. His words have provoked a furious response on Rodarian social media, Cardinal Secretary of State Remus Draganescu denounced the President’s words as “unnecessarily provocative and insulting to 2.4 billion Catholics across the world, not only does the President provide a conspiracy theory based outlook towards the RCO, but also a vicious sectarian hatred, President Auriol is dangerous.”

His Holiness has reportedly refused to comment, with Vatican TV commenting that the Pope rejected offering his opinion, saying, “It would be pointless, the man is true to his conviction of hate and these people cannot be convinced otherwise.”

Foreign Minister Basescu praised the words of Estovakivan Autarch, Vladimir Makarov, who asked President Auriol to reveal the basis of his “prophecy of doom”.

“Yet again the Autarch has shown himself to be on the ball and full aware of President Auriol’s conspiracy like hyperbole that has no place in the realms of professional diplomacy. Though I would say to our friends in Estovakiva, that Sieuxerr’s theories is based not on fact but self constructed nonsense that appears to be fuelling a warlike tendency within OSEN, I too pray that other responsible members of OSEN avoid from falling into the game of producing baseless threats and insults for the sake of OSENs longevity and contribution to world peace and security. I would urge Tule and Arcevia to enter talks to reassure the world community that they are commited to peaceful co-existence, after all this is possible for the RCO and OSEN in general, there is no need to create tensions when it is not necessary, the RCO for its part is eager to cooperate and peacefull coexist with all nations of the world.” Minister Basescu continued.

RCO accepts Arcevian application for membership. Stockton addresses criticism from Sieuxerr President.
Arcevia becomes the 9th nation to join RCO. Supreme Council names Warren Kim as Arcevian Representative to RCO. Alexander Stockton addresses 'concerns' of the Sieuxerrians.

Warren Kim, the former interim Supreme Chancellor following Katherine Ryan's resignation and the 8th Director-General of the Arcevian Supreme Council is named as the first Arcevian Representative to the RCO.

Davenport, Arcevian Republic of Pendragon - The accession to the Romula Cooperation Organisation has been met with mixed response. With the Sieuxerrian president threatening to employ 'Cold War tactics' on Australis waters, Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton swiftly responded to the President. Stockton has maintained his government's compliance to the Kjellen Agreement. The Kjellen Agreement, signed in 1990 between the Union of Arcevian Republics, the State of Tule, and the rest of the Organization of Southeastern Nations, is a non-aggression pact that normalized the Arcevian-Tulese relations after the end of the Valentine's Day Crisis. Spearheaded by both Supreme Chancellor Roderick Urquhart and Tulese Prime Minister Johanna Landakot, the landmark agreement called for a renewal of the non-aggression pact every ten years. With the pact last re-affirmed in 2010 by Supreme Chancellor Katherine Ryan, Stockton has stated he is not going to start 'burning bridges' with the Tulese nor the OSEN.

New Arcevian Representative

As Arcevia is welcomed to the Romula Cooperation Organisation, the Supreme Council has accepted Warren Kim's application to be the country's first representative to the Organisation. Born from Arcevian parents of Anikatian descent, Warren Kim was the 8th Director-General of the Supreme Council and the interim Supreme Chancellor after Katherine Ryan's resignation in early 2013. He joined the UAAF from 1978 to 1989 where he reached the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the Arcevian Navy and gained his citizenship. He entered the central government in 1995 eventually reaching the Director of Treasury and Monetary Policy under Colin Saunders and as Director-General under Katherine Ryan.

After Katherine Ryan resigned from the Chancellorship following her declining health, Ryan appointed Kim the interim Supreme Chancellor until they elect a new Supreme Chancellor. Following Stockton's election, Kim retired from the central government and worked for a financial services firm.

Stockton: "They forced us into this position."

The President of Sieuxerr, Adrien Auriol has launched a tirade this morning, criticizing Arcevia's admission to the RCO. Supreme Chancellor Stockton has also spoken out in response to President Auriol. Stockton denounces the President, calling his statements "hypocritical and defamatory" in his press conference this afternoon. Director of Foreign Policy Ezalia Marcus has also issued a statement, saying that the "current relations between the UAR and the rest of the OSEN member-states will continue" as they are.

Auriol's statements regarding Catholicism has caused outrage by the Romulan Catholic Church, calling the statement "unnecessarily provocative" to Catholics across the world.

Stockton responded to the President of Sieuxerr:

"This sort of fear mongering is the reason why we are in this position. The Supreme Council and myself are forced making this decision to openly cooperate with the rest of the RCO. There will always be detractors and those critical to the Arcevian autocratic regime. But know this, the Supreme Council and myself did not make this decision lightly.

I am not going to burn bridges today, nor will the Supreme Council. You want to move your businesses from Arcevia, that is your prerogative. Your loss. But know this, we wish to maintain our trade with the OSEN member-states. The Arcevian government remain committed to the Kjellen Agreement that we all signed in 1990. We are willing to keep it in effect for as long as we needed it.

Arcevia and its people wishes nothing but peace and global cooperation not just in Australis, but for the whole world as well."

Action must be taken in Bogoria for the sake of the future

Image

The Bogorian government has shown nothing but evil intent towards ethnic Poles and now Rodarion

The massacre of almost 200 defenceless souls in Plowy last week has revealed how precarious the situation is in Bogoria. The rebels who aim to liberate the entire territory from the corrupted grip of fascist oligarchs now face their true evil, but the massacre through that missile attack also reveals the illegitimate government in Utena’s true intentions towards the Papal Republic. But this incident also provides a serious question to the Papal Republic’s true role within Lusankya, as every growing major power requires to secure hegemony in its respective region, the Bogoria incident provides a reason why we must secure it as soon as possible.

The response by the Rodarian people has been entirely understandable and expected, I myself share their ceaseless fury at the murder of 36 Rodarian nationals, let alone the 118 defenceless Bogorian rebels receiving medical treatment for their war wounds. Never has there been a crime greater in Lusankya this century, no crime greater. The incident provides us all, across the world a fine image of the thugs in Utena, willing to massacre hundreds of those incapable of fleeing or resisting, willing to kill injured soldiers when they are most vulnerable, then attempt to divert blame by withdrawing the same weapons hours after the incident and then trying to paint the rebels responsible, how despicably low can these people go? Low enough to commit warcrimes before the world’s eyes, with investigators in Plowy who have the ability to determine the direction the missile came from at launch, their war crimes will be shown in true fashion, as well as their descent into true evil to secure victory.

The Bogorian government is responsible for the murder of 36 Rodarian nationals and there is no instance I can think of that a government does not take action in response. So the far government has officially cut diplomatic ties with the Bogorian Republic, but stated it would maintain discussions over the crisis if required. Yet this is not enough, the Bogorian thugs in government need to know that the Papal Republic will not tolerate such crimes again. We must view what happened not just a direct inhumane attack on the rebels, but also a direct inhumane attack upon the hundreds of Rodarian citizens who have put their lives in danger to help those in need. The government in Utena hates its ethnic Poles as much as it hates ethnic Rodarians, it is a racialist regime, and they are a threat to our national security unlike any other Lusankyan state. We know they view us in highly negative ways, who is to say they would not take violent action against the Papal Republic, their fascist volunteer groups fighting the rebel forces have shown themselves truly violent and bloodthirsty willing to slaughter innocents in the pursuit of victory. Who is to say they would not infiltrate our border and attack us? Who is to say they
would not wage a terrorist campaign against us through their racialist madness? They are a threat, there is no doubt.

But the threat and the incident further raises fundamental questions over the Papal Republic’s role in Lusankya, but also its position in relation to the country’s rise as a major power. The Papal Republic and the United Republic arguably have the means and the will to rise in power not seen for centuries, but the Papal Republic for the sake of its continued development requires more assertive action. Every major power requires hegemony over its respective region of the world, but Lusankya is an interesting case, Rodarion is bordered by two powers directly (Belfras and Anthor), with the United Republic further to the north. Anthor has proven itself a worthwhile friend and many in government would agree that Anthor is not a rival, less can be said for Belfras. To use a story from the renaissance, Pope Marcellus VI led the Papal States in the Holy Campaigns which ended the independent wishes of apostate dukes and nobles, however he faced Duke Grigore Albarescu, who aimed to restore the monarchy, neither could rule the Rodarian people, there cannot be two kings under sun, eventually the Pope and the Papacy secured victory and Grigore Albarescu was burnt at the stake for his betrayal of the mother Church. This can be applied to the world today, there cannot be two kings under the sun in Southern Lusankya (the URE is far away enough for the PRR to develop its regional hegemony), this is directed towards Belfras.

Dealing with the Bogorian Crisis is the first step towards securing Rodarian hegemony in Southern Lusankya, by ensuring the rebels secure victory over the extremist regime in Utena, the Papal Republic will have a secure position in the centre of Lusankya. A more assistive result would be the rebels pressing forward their unificationist ideals relating to the Papal Republic, after all, the ethnic ties between Rodarians and Poles is exceptionally strong, we share a history that promotes brotherhood and mutual praise and celebration. Not only would this protect our cultural and historical heritage it would preserve the liberation of Bogoria from aggressive actions by those who oppose it. A unification of Bogoria and the Papal Republic would provide those benefits, but would also represent a major step towards Rodarian hegemony in South Lusankya. But the success in Bogoria will also fully demonstrate the Papal Republic’s development into a major world power.

The situation in Bogoria requires action, not just for the sake of those murdered or the sake of punishing a war crime, action would also provide the Papal Republic the means to secure lasting hegemony in South Lusankya, a key requisite for a strong and capable major world power and that is the direction the Papal Republic is heading, returning to its rightful place at the lead tables of the world, a position lost through humiliation and irreparable decline. Should Bogoria return to its Church State, it will mark the beginning of the renewal of the Rodarian nation and the first stepping stone towards securing lands stolen from the Church State by the vulture governments that surround it. Action must be taken, for a complete and total gain. For the sake of the Papal Republic’s security and bright future.

Written by Major General Atticus Flavrescu, Chief of Staff of the Papal Defence Corps.

South-Western Mail reports
EDITORIAL: Askam's warning is being proven true
Arcevia's decision reflects how the world is becoming increasingly polarised along democratic-autocratic lines

At the start of this year, ex-Chancellor Hugh Askam gave a speech at a foreign policy conference in which he warned that "the enemies of liberal democracy across the globe are threatening to unite into a giant dangerous blob." Three months later, Arcevia has joined the Romulă Cooperation Organisation, entering an economic and military alliance with Rodarion, Ulthrannia and six other like-minded nations. The continent of Australis has just become a little less stable. The President of Sieuxerr's warning of "military exercises between the two off the waters of Tule, in the classic Cold War style" is not an unfounded fear.

To those who know much about Arcevia and its recent history, last week's decision to apply for RCO membership was expected. Arcevia is an autocratic republic, an oligarchy that advertises itself as being technocratic. It was already known that Arcevia had applied to join the RCO, and the country has long had a strained relationship with several democratic countries, notably its neighbour Tule. The worst episode of this was the Valentine's Day Crisis 1989, caused when Tulese jet fighter fired missiles at an Arcevian ship that was participating in provocative military exercises. The government has generally lacked a guiding ideology or theme behind it. For all their flaws, the autocrats stuck to sensible economic policies, ensuring that the country has a decent economic record even if its record on civil liberties is not so impressive. But if the 1989 incident (the Valentine's Day Crisis) had escalated into a full-blown war, any of this progress would have been wiped out.

Until now though, Arcevia has never had any formal alliances. It has not always agreed with Rodarion; its government condemned the Ankaran invasion of New Pontus, for instance. But for all their talk of "independent foreign policy", the Arcevian government usually ended up on Romula's side. For the Arcevian regime, it offers them protection against conflict with its neighbours or internal rebellion. Trade links and possible financial handouts from Rodarion would also be enticing. In turn, the RCO have a clear incentive to take on their newest member and gain a foothold in Australis. Admitting Arcevia would alienate Tule and the countries in the Skanderian Union, but the RCO has largely given up hope of attracting hope of attracting any democratic members. No country with a free press would want to support Rodarion's foreign policy.

Extremists have a tendency to unite, even if their ideologies are wildly different. Most Arcevians have little interest in National Catholicism and may be appalled by stories about Rodarion's repentance camps and executions of homosexuals, for instance. This is not a problem for the Arcevian government, as they can easily keep their populace in the dark about their new-found ally's less savoury sides. Part of the reason that they tend to unite is that democratic nations just do not want to be allied with them. If Havenwalde would never want to be roped into supporting theocratic rebels in Bogoria.

Hugh Askam's warning is being proven true. It is entirely possible that more like-minded nations would join the RCO alliance. Perhaps in turn, we will see more nations joining the Central Defence Initiative in response. The world is becoming increasingly polarised, as nations like Davisholm and Arcevia are gravitating towards alliances. The only thing that Hugh Askam said wrong in his speech was that he also warned that a 'New Cold War' is on the way. In this newspaper's view, it is already here.

Standing by his word
President releases responses to RCO leaders
Marc-Antoine Gide | 19/4/15 | 1530 SUT

After a series of responses from new and prominent RCO members, the President released another conference in response. While overall it was not as shocking or controversial, it answered questions and responded to criticisms from RCO leadership. The ratings of the President have been mixed overall, while many stanch right-wing political parties offered overwhelming support, his moves were met with opposition from the moderate and leftist parties due to the very provocative terminology that had been used.

With the populace, online poles showed that the majority of Sieuxerrian people supported the President's statements.

"Two days ago I gave fair warning to the good people of Arcevia and to Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton himself. I told them that joining the RCO was a pact that would lead only to the end of Arcevian sovereignty at the hands of either economic strangulation or by the drum beat of Rodarion jackboots down the city streets of Arcevia. Now, I see myself being attacked by the leaders of RCO, attempting to defame my worries and to pull Arcevia away from my words.

Autarch Vladimir Volostov, as did other members of RCO attempted to utilize Naval Air Station Keflavik in order to cast the image of Sieuxerrian, and even OSEN imperalism against Arcevia, that the presence of this base somehow meant quick access for OSEN forces to suddenly commit to an invasion of Arcevia. The intentions of the base were quite clear during the Cold War in 1970 when this base was first laid down. It was to protect Tule from any kind Soviet aggression from the north seas or from any possible incursion from the Deusaeuri Socialist Republic with heavy long range bombers or submarines traveling under the ice caps. The base had been placed strategically in order not to pose a threat to the people of Arcevia, whom, like many others respectably, wished only to adopt armed neutrality and to establish cordial relations with both sides.

The base has been in a state of constant withdraw since October the 28th 2001, when finally the Democratic Socialist Republic of Anikatia allowed open democratic elections and a change of governments took place and formally, the end of the Cold War was achieved. The base still stands to defend the Tulese people from any kind of foreign aggression, however over the years its size has lessened, reflecting that as time goes on, possibly more forces will be removed from Naval Air Station Keflavik.

Foreign Minister Basescu attempts to paint us as warmongers, and makes the long stride to claim that RCO only seeks to cooperate and peacefully coexist. I see that claim and ask that if such words are spoken why can't we seem to find ourselves bought by this? May it be that the governments of RCO have a long history of outward aggression? Rodarion troops, supplies, and weaponry pour into Bogoria on a daily basis under the guise of "Humanitarian aid" and have been training and fielding pro-Rodation militia forces committing atrocities against citizens of Bogoria and blaming them on the hard-pressed government. During the Kolenomai War, Estovakivan aid as supplied to the Communist forces, equipment that would end the lives of OSEN servicemen and women attempting to maintain democratic rule against Communist influences.

New bases are being constructed on a daily basis in Ashwize, as the Grand Ulthrannic Empire, an RCO-aligned nation, attempts to push its agenda onto the poverty struck nations that populate Ashwize. The same with the Enlightened Empire of Tarsas, both of whom are opening a number of new bases along in order to threaten the stability of Ashwize as a whole.

My heart grows heavy, knowing that the government in Arcevia does not wish to heed my words. They only dig the grave for their people deeper and deeper and to only lock themselves in with Rodarion, Estovakiva, and the other members of RCO further.

WEEKEND FOREIGN AFFAIRS ROUNDUP

Atrocities in Bogoria and Niyeria, chaos in Belhavian exercise

Weekend foreign affairs roundup
19/04/2015
Peter Waugh, Political Correspondent

As I’m sure you know, dear rears, we’ve had a messy week. The foreign affairs and security arena proved to be unusually action-packed over the past couple of days, with a spate of crises opening up in various theatres around the world, from Lusankya to Ashizwe. To top it off, a major, unprecedented hiccup has thrown a routine biennial CDI military exercise into complete chaos.

Bogorian Bogart

For us prophets of doom, who’ve predicted the failure of the ceasefire from the start, it’d seem that the missile incident was a veritable confirmation of our Cassandra powers. Over the past few months, the ceasefire has been observed more in breach than in adherence. True, major military operations on both sides had ceased, but the fighting never really did stop. Viscious little skirmishes continued unabated throughout this period, causing not-insignificant casualties on both sides.

The missile incident, no matter who was to blame, was merely continuation of this trend. Frankly, what I’m most surprised about the incident is that something like this didn't happen sooner. The early-model Tochka is seriously obsolete. Unfortunately, the belligerent parties of Bogoria must be content with waging war with weaponry long consigned to museums among the militaries of real countries. Whoever decided to deploy such an inaccurate weapon system anywhere near populated areas, rebel or government, ought to be the one who gets blown up in a just universe, not innocent civilians and medics.

As for who is to blame? Who knows. Foreign Secretary Valerie Chen-Raman chimed in on Saturday, urging the insurgent forces to allow a full investigation by “a committee of experts drawn from the all the signatories of the Treaty of Oured. Alternatively, one formed by experienced ordnance officers from neutral countries such as Anikatia or Estovnia.” Will there be a proper, impartial investigation? Probably as likely as me seeing airborne swine in the rare moments when I’m completely sober – that is to say, sod all.

Niyerian slaughterhouse

The new Niyerian junta, with the improbable name of Council of United National Tendencies (thank the gods for acronyms) has been shrewder than I’d imagined, right at the beginning of the post-coup weeks. The first thing the new Ulthrannist-dominated regime did was to secure the loyalty from the ethnically and religiously-diverse regular army. What is the one thing that can cut across these entrenched lines? The answer is simple – cold, hard cash. About a quarter of the country’s gold reserves, painstakingly built up by the previous, sort of dysfunctional, but at least somewhat honestly democratic government was liquidated in a sale to the Ulthrannians, who were only too happy to oblige. The resulting liquidity, denominated in Western Dollars, was used as a massive donative to bribe the armed forces into supporting the new regime. So far, this has worked. With the loyalty of the regulars secured, the junta turned its attention to the tribal militias.

The Niyerian militia groups were a legacy of the civil wars of the 60s-70s. Emerging from the ruins of these devastating conflicts, Niyerians determined that the best way to prevent ethnic and religious tensions from ever causing another massive conflagration is to arm everyone to the teeth. Tribal militias were the way to counterbalance the government’s military machine – to ensure that the central authorities cannot oppress a certain demographic on the behest of the dominant tribe.

Unfortunately, this is exactly what’s happening. The country’s Muslims and Vodunists are falling behind the party line of the new Ulthrannist-dominated junta. This left the Christian tribes in opposition to Lavos. To the new military regime, they posed an intolerable threat, and they acted accordingly. The newly secured military was unleashed in a campaign of terror against the Christian populace.

“They came out of nowhere,” said a refugee currently in the Eagleland, once an inhabitant of a Christian fishing village. “The first thing we heard were the guns of a navy frigate bombarding our village. Then, the landing crafts appeared – troops from the elite Coastal Rifles Regiment. The village militia fought as long as they could to buy time for us to escape, but the attackers had mortars, heavy machine gun and naval support. The defenders, brave as they were, didn’t stand a chance.”

“We fled along the motorway, towards the nearest town. Too late did we realise that this was what they were planning all along. Before us refugees realised what was happening, four helicopters popped up from out of nowhere and began to fire upon our column with rockets and machine guns. They were shooting at defenceless women and children, who didn’t have any means to resist. Once they’ve unleashed their weapons, the helicopters landed troops who shot the wounded survivors. I myself only survived because I laid very still and played dead. I saw the soldiers who did this very clearly. They were Niyerians, but they were led by officers who were very obviously foreigners. They were definitely not Ashizweans. Only after I escaped to the Eagleland did I read that mercenaries from Ulthrannia, from Tippercommon and other countries were involved in the Niyerian conflict.”

His Highness’s Government is continuing with its stance of refusing to recognise the Council of United National Tendencies and holds the government in exile, led by the ousted vice-president Dr Francis Oyelowo, as the legitimate government of the republic. If these atrocities continue, the political pressure to do something about the situation may mount very swiftly indeed.

Military mayhem – REFORBEL disaster

The most important military exercises of the CDI are REFORBEL and REFORANTH, which alternate on a yearly basis. Their goal is to practice the rapid reinforcement of a member state threatened with invasion – Belhavia and Anthor respectively. When things go as planned, thousands of troops from every member would be flown to these countries, there to find warehouses stocked full of pre-sited equipment and ready to take the battle to the aggressor.

Sadly, the REFORBEL exercise this year has hit an unexpected hiccup. It’d seem that the weather gods are a taking a dim view of the proceedings. Due to what Belhavina authorities are characterising as an ‘unseasonably late blizzard’, military airfields throughout central-Belhavia have been closed. As such, thousands of troops, marshalled for the exercise, are stranded in barracks and depots in their home countries, milling about with no end to the wait in sight.

Belhavia’s infamous conservative pundits were the first to denounce this new development. “This is health and safety gone mad,” said popular radio host Aaron Bernstein. “Real soldiers are no longer in charge of national defence. Insurers and lawyers rule the day. The liability-avoidance culture has totally screwed our ability to defend ourselves against the Estovakivan menace. There is snow in central Belhavia, but it is no worse than two years ago, when the last REFORBEL exercise was held. Six years ago, the exercise went ahead in the middle of a snow storm. Indeed, as we speak, civil aviation continues to operate unabated. If the damned Vikings invade tomorrow, the first people we ought to throw into the front ought to be insurance executives. Let’s see what’ll they make of their namby pamby, liberal lawsuit-avoiding crap then.”

The discontent is by no means restricted among right wing lunatics. Even in our glorious homeland of liberal centrism, those affected are seriously miffed, to say the least. “They’re really taking the piss,” said lieutenant of the reserves David Ponsonby, who was mobilised for the exercise. “I have a day job as a solicitor. In our business, we charge by the hour. Guess how many of those hours have we wasted, languishing in this bloody depot? My friend over there, lieutenant Francine Smith, she’s a broker with Goldman in Loweport. Guess how much real work she could be doing right now?”

“I swear to Lugh, if this drags on any longer, we will sue MINDEF for our loss of earnings. The powers that be screwed up, let them foot the bill. Why should we humble citizen soldiers pay the price for their mess?”

CDI officials have stated that the exercise will go ahead once the weather clears. When that’ll happen is anyone’s guess, at the moment.

Globe magazine reports
DAVISHOLM: Where have all the Commies gone?
The time should be right for a far-left revival, so why is the opposite happening?

BISMOUTH - The Davisian Communist Party's convention in Bismouth was not a happy affair. Last month, the party had just lost one of their last remaining local election strongholds - the municipality of St. Quentin in the Mountain Territory. One of their 4 federal MPs represents the Division of St. Quentin, and he ought to be worried. Two weeks later, the Communist candidate in the Landsburgh mayoral election polled less than 3% of the vote, as had the DCP's candidates in the three most recent by-elections. Their party took nearly 4% of the vote in the last federal election, but nationwide opinion polling now only gives them 1% or 2%. Two generations ago, the party was supported by as much as 17% of the electorate. This golden age ended when left-wing voters rallied around the Davisian Socialist Worker's Party instead.

It would seem odd that the DCP's support has dropped since 2011. After all, there has been plenty of left-wing dissatisfaction with Harriet Deacon's government. Just like Michael Carter Phillips, she has stuck to moderate policies and dabbled in some right-wing ones, such as deregulation and welfare reform. The economy has performed well, but the growth levels seen in the early 2000s have not returned. Party leader Gilbert Hughes directed much of his speech against the current DSWP government. "The Deacon government has betrayed their working class supporters. Four years ago, they were elected promising an end to austerity, inequality and social injustice. Four years on, they have worsened all three of these things!" His audience applauded him. Among them were a few members who have lately been frustrated by his leadership and believe that the party needs to be revitalised.

Workers of all lands, divide!
Greg Loper is one of the most vocal members of this camp. He argues that his party is stuck in a demographic rut. "Look around this room and you can see what the problem is. There's too few women, too few young people and too few ethnic minorities. I'm 42, and I'm considered young here," he says. Hughes is 72, and only 2 out of 18 members of the party's central committee are female. He laments that his party has difficulty attracting young people: "We had quite a few join us in 2010 and 2011, but then they got disinterested and left. It seems the youth of Davisholm have lost the will to rebel." He may have a point. Contrary to what sensationalist newspaper headlines would have you believe, youth crime in Davisholm is declining. It is possible that their lack of interest in radical politics is a parallel trend.

Younger voters searching for a left-wing alternative to the DSWP have found one: the Davisian Greens. The Greens' membership has doubled since the last federal election and their poll ratings have increased from 10% to 15%. Previously polls have placed it as high as 18%. Their treasurer, Joshua Fisher, is a former DCP member himself. In an interview two years ago, he said that "I left the Communists because I thought they were trapped in the past. Our party, on the other hand, is about the future." Some of the DCP's urban working-class voters have even switched to supporting the Davisian People's Movement, in order to vent their opposition to immigration. It might seem odd that they would be switching from a fringe-left party to a fringe-right party, but anti-elitist voters can often be fickle in that respect.

Loper stands by most of his party's policies, which include nationalisation of major industries, guaranteed income and a cap on the maximum salary any person can earn. He does not consider his ideology to be authoritarian. "Communism is not about that. The economic system we saw in countries like Anikatia wasn't communism, it was bureaucratic state capitalism. True communism is about freeing the workers from hierarchies and exploitation." The party leadership has not always avoided denouncing communist regimes in the same way. Hughes said last year that the fall of communism in Anikatia was "the saddest moment in my life."

History didn't absolve you
Loper says that the DCP's reputation for being apologists for authoritarian governments is "undeserved" and that "The liberal media* is biased against us. The only time we get media coverage is when we get infighting or someone saying something silly." If the media really are treating the DCP unfairly, they would be reflecting public opinion. A survey from last year found that 85% of Davisians have an unfavourable view on communism. The most common reason they cited was "It is associated with authoritarian governments". No other party in Parliament has an ideology that attracts this level of antipathy. In his speech, Hughes conceded that communism was "a damaged brand", but argued that it could be repaired if they campaigned well.

History does not look highly on them either. The "Commies" have been portrayed as villains not just by right-wing historians, but by many left-wing historians too, who argued that they divided the Davisian left and scared voters into supporting John Constantine. True, the DCP endorsed infeasible economics and authoritarian governments. In fairness though, they never resorted to the anti-democratic methods that their counterparts in other countries used (They did contemplate it in the late 1950s, when gerrymandering was preventing the left from winning elections). Their activists and politicians worked to oppose Constantine's authoritarian habits and later to promote the liberalisation and secularisation of Davisholm in the 1960s. The DCP helped modernise Davisholm, now modernity threatens to drive them into the ground.

*Note that in Davisholm, "liberal" implies right-wing ideology.

Alina Schroth, current chairman of the Neoliberal Alliance Party
Alina Schroth:"Arcevia's RCO Membership Threatens Area Security, Trade"

Recent admittance of Arcevia into the RCO fold receives criticism from government.
Karl Schmidt
Havenwalde News Source Pardesi Geo-political analyst.

Betschdat, Havenwalde Analysts believe the latest comments out of Betschdat suggest a growing anti-RCO trend since Havenwalde exited the geopol bloc just four months ago. Since then, it has raised tariffs on RCO nations, pointedly bought new military weapons and technology from leading CDI powers such as Emmeria and Belhavia, and has escalated anti-RCO diplomatic rhetoric. A prime example of this is the current chairman of the Neoliberal Alliance Party a junior party in the government, Alina Schroth who has raised criticism against Arcevia on their admittance to the RCO as it's ninth member nation. Arcevia joins the ranks of other nations such as neighboring Estovakiva and Ulthrannia, Rodarion, and Sturmia. With Arcevia joining the ranks of the RCO, several government actions have been put into motion as a official response from the Federal Republic as announced by Alina Schroth at a conference the NLAP held recently.

"I've recently been told of the official response formulated by the government to Arcevia joining the RCO, a deinvestment policy made by the Federal Ministry of Economics which works with national organizations, institutions and companies to withdraw their investments and essentially boycott Arcevia. A statement from the Federal Ministry of Defense announcing a increased naval presence in the Beschrankt strait which our opponents in the Conservative Coalition Party probably denounce as exaggeration of the situation I'm sure as they did when we went abroad to put down a dangerous rebellion conducted by terrorists in Hyperion. I on the other hand applaud the Ministry on taking a step to ensure free trade in the Beschrankt strait is upheld for the sake of the Federal Republic and our neighbors."

The Beschrankt strait is a vital trade route to three countries being, the Federal Republic, Belhavian Empire and the Tippercommon Republics. Three nations who share similar feelings about the spread of RCO influence across the Pardes and surely have their concerns with the joining of Arcevia into the ranks of the RCO. Thus the Federal Republic has taken the initiative to protect the trade route from unwarranted aggression from tyrannical states through the Federal Ministry of Defense increasing the Havenwalde Federal Navy presence in the strait. Already a small force of cruisers and frigates patrol the strait representing the interests of the Federal Republic. With the increase of presence in the strait, the Havenwalde Federal Navy will be deploying a squadron of destroyers to accompany the token force to safeguard the Beschrankt strait for the Taveria continent's well being and safety.

Consul Ceausescu has rejected the Arthuristan proposal as ISI produces evidence of Bogorian government guilt

Consul Ceausescu has officially rejected the proposal by the Arthuristan government of introducing neutral investigators to determine the guilty party of the Plowy Missile Massacre, which killed almost 200 people including 36 Rodarian nationals. The Consul speaking at a press conference this evening, stated that the 'safety of neutral investigators could not be guaranteed', he accused the Arthuristan government of endangering life to paint the Bogorian government as 'cooperative for the sympathy vote'. Also at the press conference, Consul Ceausescu stated President Auriol's "eloquence in ridiculousness has recruited Havenwalde to commit to a dangerous path, that is not in the interest of any party including Havenwalde,", his outburst follows a shocking announcement by Betshdat, that is deploying warships to the Beschrankt Strait through concerns "RCO aggression".
Speaking this afternoon at a special press conference, Consul Ceausescu rejected the proposal put forward by Arthuristan Foreign Secretary Valerie Chen-Raman, which called for investigators from all Oured Treaty signatory states or investigators from neutral states to conduct the findings of the Plowy Missile Massacre.

"I must respectfully reject the proposal put forward by Foreign Secretary Chen-Raman, the safety of any investigator cannot be guaranteed, those currently investigating this heinous crime are Rodarian indeed, but volunteered to put their lives in danger to determine the guilty party. His Holiness' Government takes full responsibility for their safety as do their South Bogorian hosts. We cannot, nor can they be expected to take responsibility for the safety and care of investigators from countries so blatantly biased towards the group that most likely committed this atrocious act, nor lives of citizens from neutral states" he said.

The proposal received no warm embrace among other government officials, with Finance Minister Marian Dumitreșcu denouncing it as "scandalous", NCP Senator Beniamin Codreanu going further to accuse the Arthuristan government of insulting the Papal Republic's integrity; speaking on Metsins, he said "Clearly they doubt our honesty and integrity to be open to all, well right back at you #Loweport".

Last Sunday, His Holiness led the televised memorial service of the 36 murder victims at the Vatican, in his final speech before a crowd of 300,000, he said, "I pray for the investigators, with God's grace and our holy mother's mercy may they succeed in finding these poor souls the justice they deserve, I know that their good deeds on this earth has granted them a warm place in God's righteous light, they have our love and our prayers, bring home justice."

With the Pope's blessing, the Consul is in no position to deny the investigators the Pope's government's backing, which he clearly agreed to. Consul Ceausescu is reportedly placing pressure on the investigating team to be as thorough as possible, in light of rebel pressures on the team to be as swift as possible citing further missile attacks or air attack to deter an investigation.

General Superior of the Inter-Services Intelligence, Sándor Radek also gave a brief press conference this early evening, stating that "preliminary satellite data from infrared sensors has shown that the explosion on the field hospital was detected. ISI analysis of the launch plume and trajectory suggests the missile was fired from an area between Jurbarkas and Taura, which is government territory. Satellites have also registered the heat signature of the launch of the missile and the transporter erector launcher's engine. We expect the investigators on the ground to confirm the angle of the building damage to correlate with the location of the launch."
General Superior Radek denounced the Bogorian government's decision to withdraw the missiles after the attack as a "blatant and very poor attempt at trying to hide the truth, that exacerbates the disgusting nature of the crime". General Superior Radek also vowed that the ISI will not cease in its search for the commander responsible and will name and shame him upon his identification.

Havenwalde falls for Auriol's aggression

Consul Ceausescu was also asked numerous question regarding the recent decision by Havenwalde to deploy warships to the Beshankt Strait over claims of 'RCO Aggression', the Consul directed the blame at Sieuxerrian President Adrian Auriol.

"What is clear is that President Auriol's eloquence in ridiculousness has recruited Havenwalde to commit to a dangerous path, that is not in the interest of any party including Havenwalde, they have militarised key trade routes for all nations of the globe over the basis of lies and fear mongering, truly I and his Holiness' government are shocked. I recommend to the Havenwalder government to retract its decision for the sake of peace and stability on those routes, the Papal Republic like Belhavia depends on those routes for key trade links, any government that puts that in danger is nothing short of a pariah and Havenwalde if it commits to this action, will be recognised of nothing but a pariah, but the capitals of the RCO I am sure" he said. Asked whether the Papal Republic would deploy vessels to ensure the security of Rodarian vessels and trade, the Consul outrightly rejected it, "should the Papal Navy be deployed to the Beshrankt Strait, it would produce nothing more than an unnecessary escalation, so no, his Holiness' government will commit to such an escalation."

Statements from various Foreign Ministry officials indicate that the Papal Republic is expecting the Estovakivan government to deal with the Havenwalder move, with many stating that the Papal Republic does not wish to divert focus from the Bogorian Crisis to deal with another crisis orchestrated by a hapless administration. Whether the Estovakivans take action is to be seen, whether the Havenwalders create a dangerous crisis out of it is another thing that only time will tell.

Chancellor Friedhelm Kluge held a special press conference from the Chancellery to address recent Rodarion rhetoric.
Friedhelm Kluge: "The Federal Republic is a pariah to tyrannical states, a title we plan to uphold"

Chancellor addresses tensions concerning the Beschrankt strait and Rodarion rhetoric.
Karl Schmidt
Havenwalder News Source, Pardes Geo-political analyst.

Betschdat, Havenwalde Following recent rhetoric following the comments made by chairman of the Neoliberal Alliance Party, Alina Schroth announcing the Federal Republic response to the admittance of Arcevia to the RCO. The Chancellor Friedhelm Kluge held a special press conference from the Chancellery building to address the recent Rodarion rhetoric made by Consul Ceausescu on the Beschrankt strait tensions which seem to be pitting the Federal Republic in the middle of a possible RCO versus CDI political showdown. Tensions over the Beschrankt strait began when the nation of Arcevia was admitted to the RCO which Arcevia being on the continent of Australis was in some what close proximity of the strait and concerns were the possibility of instability over the strait between the newly admitted RCO member Arcevia and CDI powers such as the Belhavian empire. Several key points made by the Chancellor concerning the strait tensions and rhetoric made by Consul Ceausescu were on the upkeep of peace for the sake of trade as the strait is a key trade route for several Pardesian nations.

"The Beschrankt strait raises the concern to us with the recent admittance of Arcevia into the RCO and with Estovakiva being a fellow neighbor on the Taveria continent is that trade between these two and or movements of naval vessels could raise alarms from the Belhavian Empire and thus bring tensions that were already there to begin with to light here today."

The RCO versus CDI on and off confrontations are easy to point out with several bases in western Belhavia which hold CDI contigents of troops from nations such as Arthuristia, Emmeria and Eagleland all stationed near Estovakiva to prevent unwarranted aggression if tensions between the two nations spiraled out of control. The Federal Republic not being part of either military orientated camps take the Berschrankt strait as a key part of it's national interests and national security. Several Havenwalder geo-political analysts consider the strait to be where major naval movements from both the RCO and CDI would take place if hostility broke out between the two camps and even naval engagements pitting the Federal Republic against a corner with it's national interests and security in grave danger.

"The strait plays a vital role in our national interests and national security even our foreign policy could be affected by the strait and the tensions that are currently arising because of it.

The Papal Republic's own Consul Ceausescu was quick to begin making rhetoric remarks towards the Federal Republic and it's leader being the Chancellor.

"What is clear is that President Auriol's eloquence in ridiculousness has recruited Havenwalde to commit to a dangerous path, that is not in the interest of any party including Havenwalde, they have militarized key trade routes for all nations of the globe over the basis of lies and fear mongering, truly I and his Holiness' government are shocked."

The comment made by Ceausescu were denounced by Chancellor Kluge as "rhetoric" and "arrogance" on part of the Consul and the government as a whole. A remark made by the Chancellor to a comment made by Consul Ceausescu later in his statement has gone viral as a sign of the Federal Republic standing it's ground.

"Consul Ceausescu stated that with our deployment of a squadron of destroyers to join the already existing contigent of naval vessels who patrol the strait has deemed us a pariah. I for one strongly believe that the Federal Republic is a pariah to tyrannical states and this title will be something we will continue to uphold in the interests of peace and security for our nation and the Pardes."

A later excerpt by the 'National Exprima' was that the Papal Republic expects that Estovakiva respond to the 'move' by the Federal Republic to deploy additional surface vessels to the strait. The chancellor simply shrugged off the blatant threat that Estovakiva would respond to the deployment of surface vessels with what analysts theorize to be their own move of deploying naval vessels to "ensure" their own right to usage of the Beschrankt strait to which the Chancellor addressed it.

"I am confident that any response that Estovakiva decides to employ to spite our deployment of naval surface vessels to the strait will not start any sort of crisis between the Federal Republic and Estovakiva or the RCO. The Beschrankt strait is open for all nations to use in the tool of trade which is a god given right to all nations. The Federal Republic is not trying to hamper trade from a certain nation or nations but is ensuring that peace and security will be upheld and usual trade through the strait will continue as normal."

When asked by reporters if he was possibly going to reconsider the deployment of additional surface vessels to the strait the Chancellor responded with a firm "No" and assured that the deployment of surface vessels to the strait is to ensure peace and prosperity between all nations in the name of trade concerning the strait.

In a Rarely Seen International Conference, the Hetman of Dniegua, Folke Venevitinov, Releases Statement. Is this the End of an Era, or a Warning to RCO?
Lars Uslovik

The Hetman of Dniegua is the highest ranking member of the Dnieguan Government. A position held by the Venevitinov family since Hetman Leopold II in 1689, the Hetman position is known as an almost shadowy hand in Skandarian politics. Commander of the Dnieguan people and their hoards of horsemen, it has always been rare to see the legendary Hetman giving a public press conference-much less one to international press.

Yet that all seems to be changing as the newest Hetman, Folke Venevitinov, took the stand today to issue a statement concerning the recent deterioration in RCO-OSEN politics.

The young Hetman took the throne January 12th of 2015 at the tender age of 44, making him the youngest Hetman in history; nearly 700 years of it. The former Soldier-turned-businessman has been described as the leader Dniegua needs, a warrior prince whom hearkens back to times of old, a romanticized individual that seems to have leaped right out of some fantasy tail.
And boy, does he hate it.

The role of the Hetman has always been a service of silence. Behind the scenes, the Hetman has worked for centuries, brokering deals and balancing power, taking matters of military personally, and learning all they could from their predecessors. A Hetman is, in his own right, an expert on more than just how to maintain a proper composure and stiff upper lip, speak well and look the part of royalty. Most Hetmans have been multi-lingual, accomplished individuals with a well diversified mind, preferring to be squandered away in a study or an office, meeting with experts of all sorts rather than out in public, greeting and interacting with his subjects.
Folke is not this. A decorated military commander and successful businessman, Folke would sooner be seen at a Formula One race (Likely with the team that he happens to own, at some Black Sermon concert, or out in the deepest forest, hunting some ancient beast from the land of the Old Ones than at some Economic conference or Human Rights meeting.

One thing was clear from the moment Folke took the throne; He would not be like other Hetmans. A product of the 1980s and 1990s, he was raised by royalty in an era of Video Games, Action films, and heavy metal. An outspoken individual through his military career, he was noted as his superiors as always ready, willing and able...when he wasn't going off base in hunt for a local bar or loose women.

Yet today, the Hetman made it even clearer he was not like his predecessors in the political world, either. Taking the stage at 13:45 dressed well and standing tall, he spoke for twenty minutes on the state of OSEN, which he called "The Alliance of the Future", and the future of Dniegua on the international stage. He then opened the floor to questions. When asked as to the progressing feud between OSEN, especially the Sieuxerren Governemnt, and RCO, The Hetman said the following.

I warn both OSEN and the RCO to proceed with caution, and to use logic, not emotions, to define their actions. In any conflict, there are two stories, and the truth is somewhere between these. The RCO, there can be no doubt, made a calculated risk through their actions. The folly was not this risk, but the arrogance of the state to flaunt such actions as if it were a great victory. The repeated actions bring to mind a small child who has just won some minor prize; their arrogance was, too, to assume such risk was not transparent. It was a logical step in the correct direction to furthering their doctrine and influence, and to assume such an action was unanticipated shows either negligence on the part of their leaders, or foolishness on the parts of their media.

Their actions, however, pose a potential security risk to Dnieguan trade interests and military personnel, something I do not take lightly. I will not, however, risk more lives by proceeding with acts of aggression against the Romulă Cooperation Organisation. I must however, remind Chancellor Stockton that it is every states right to trade freely and openly with others, and every states right to defend themselves against aggression. I would also like to remind members of RCO that SAN Keflavik is more than just a military base, but is also a significant trade hub for Tule.

Too, Sieuxerren President Auriol is an intelligent man. Mr. Auriol is a friend, but I will feel no remorse in calling his statement brash. The days of uncertainty and uneasiness have passed. Today, we do not fear the aggression of states whom wish to trap others under a blanket of tyranny and evil. We must now embrace the willingness of individuals to chose their own destiny, and promise to assist individuals trapped under such a veil. The leaders of Arcevia have made their choice willingly. As opposed to political ideals you speak to uphold they may be, they have still chosen their own destiny.

I would remind the world only that most evil in the world exists only as an ideology that is depicted as such. In reality, there is no good and bad; there are only conflicting ideals. The evil we must fear is that which lurks in the heart of humans, those who would do harm for the sake of doing harm.

As a final note, I encourage the OSEN members and RCO members to learn to cooperate better in the future. I hope both sides will learn how to better conduct themselves on the international stage, where things like gunboat diplomacy are scoffed at, especially with the proliferation of Anti-shipping missiles.

Words of direction and optimism from a state so well known for violence. The response was rather unanticipated, yet as proven to be highly agreeable. The Hetman took no further questions, but issued a statement indicating the Dnieguan State was willing to host talks between the alliances.

DBN reports (News in Brief)
Davisholm joins calls for an investigation into Plowy incident

The government of Davisholm has supported a proposal by Arthurista to appoint a team of neutral investigators to investigate a missile strike against a pro-rebel field hospital in Plowy, Bogoria. The explosion is known to have killed at least 100 people. Foreign Minister Eric Blaine said that "Given that this incident is being exploited for propaganda, it is vital that we get to the bottom of what has happened here. We agree with the government of Arthurista. There needs to be a panel of independent expert investigators."

However, the proposal is unlikely to happen. Rodarion has already rejected it. Octavian Ceausescu's official position was that the investigators would not be safe in the warzone. He instead argued that evidence from Rodarion's Inter-Services Intelligence was sufficient evidence to support the case. Jack Littlemond, Davisholm's former ambassador to Bogoria, said that "This is hardly surprising. His regime has many incentives to escalate the war in Bogoria and not many to stop it."

Chancellor rules out immediate dissolution

Chancellor Harriet Deacon has said that she would not dissolve Parliament "in the coming weeks". She said that "If I went to the Governor-General to call the next election now, we would have to hold it at the rainiest time of year." She refused to name a date "When a government picks the date, they take into account multiple factors, including school holidays, sports events, religious festivals and diplomatic summits. The precedent is that the date should only be named with one or two month's notice, and we're going to stick to that."

The Shadow Chancellor [the leader of the opposition] Tom McFadden said that "She's dropped so many hints about it, it's obvious that she has a date in mind. I'd ask the Chancellor: tell us the date and stop keeping us in the dark!" He said that "All this speculation is getting a bit silly if you ask me. Our platform includes allocating a fixed range of dates for future elections, so that the government would no longer have the easily-misused power to dissolve Parliament at will."

PM stands fast against Rodarion authoritarianism
"We demand to see proof." PM Sentar declares

King James was key to emphasize cohesion and peace in speech.

Isn Deslen, Belfras - This evening Prime Minister Aaron Sentar appeared before the nation in a televised address.

"We, as any member of humanity, demand to see this proof that the Rodarions so proudly proclaim supports the arguments they have been spouting since day one." Aaron demanded. "Regardless of whether or not the Rodarions want this investigation to occur, it shall go ahead. Preparations are being prepared for the Royal Investigation Ministry to dispatch a team of special investigators to the region in order to begin the Belfrasian branch of investigation. We urge other nations to follow suit in this united protest to the Rodarion's attempts to block an international investigation."

Prime Minister Sentar was asked by a press member who was at the address about plans for aid to start entering Bogoria.

"Yes, we are about to start sending supplies into the country. We will be entering a discussion with the Bogorian government to find out what they desperately need in order to successfully sustain the refugees fleeing this crisis. Members of the Belfrasian Army will be escorting these supply runs because, as the Rodarion Consul said: It's a dangerous place. Belfras will do what it must to protect and sustain the civilians that are being placed in danger as a result of this war."

We spoke to several military and political experts in regards to the Plowy Massacre.

"Personally, it was the Rodarions." Damien Garner told BNN interviewers. "Everybody knows they've been assisting the rebels, and they needed something to start rallying around now that their previous excuses have worn off. So, sure, let's kill a hundred people and some of our own people. That'll cast the suspicion off of us! Only they mess it up afterwards. They block off the site, refuse anyone to enter, and magically find evidence that points exactly in the direction they want. It's like a bowler fumbling it at the last step. How do they honestly think anyone will believe it? Of course, it doesn't matter. Even if the entire world stands up and calls it a lie, they'll just continue supporting the rebels anyhow."

Damien Garner was backed up by Joseph Toppence, an ex-Myrmidon who served for almost twenty years. "In these kind of operations, called false-flag attacks, you see this exact same pattern. The attacking nation will do something to try and throw blame off. Kill their own people in the attack, pretend to be focusing elsewhere, pretend not to notice, or try and find evidence faster than somebody else. I've yet to see a nation conduct the attack, find the evidence this quickly, and then actively state that they refuse any kind of investigation. It stinks, plain and simple, and everybody knows it. The only problem is that the stinker happens to be this giant nation we've been tip-toeing with ever since we kicked their asses in the early 1900s. We've so far had numerable prime ministers who have been pretty eager to avoid any kind of heat with the Rodarions. We had Davies, who only really managed to stare the Rodarions down once in something they really didn't care about. Now we have something that they think they can get extra land out of and - boy - we're glad we have Sentar. Ex military, no nonsense guy. The military gained a sizable budget margin when he came into office. You can hear it in the Rodarions voices when they talk about Sentar, they think he's an arrogant Bogart with absolutely zero knowledge on this political stage. That may be true, but he's got balls and the conviction to go through with any threats he makes. You don't make it in the army if you're a pansy. Consul Ceausescu gave a nice veiled threat in his announcement as well. Basically 'Send investigators and they'll never make it home'. He said that they'll be bias toward the Bogorian government, just as the Rodarion investigators would be bias toward the Rebels, the group that would do such a thing. If anyone has balls, they'll go in and stare down the doubtlessly Rodarion soldiers that'll be waiting for them. Only real way to scare bullies down is to show 'em you can dish it out as well."

Joseph Lens, however, was pro-Rodarion. "So what if they're refusing to let anybody else in? They lost people, it's their right. So what if they're being cack-handed? It's clear that they were completely caught by surprise by this stupid and barbaric attack by the Bogorian government. Me and my brothers are completely with the Pope." Joseph Lens, a Callistani, was questioned during a vigil-slash-protest in Nos Callis demanding that the Belfrasian government withdraws support for the Bogorian regime.

We apologize for any language that may have distressed readers. We wish to make absolutely clear that the statements given by analyists is in keeping with the BNN's pledge for transparency. Our hearts and prayers go out to those who lost their lives in the massacre.

Nathaniel Ridgewood reported on this with the assistance of his junior correspondence team.

Havenwalde persist with unessescary naval presence in Beschrankt strait
Estovakiva deploys Destroyers alongside supportive elements
23-April-2015 | Freja Olaffssen (@FrejaOlaffsen) (TVNP)

Ships of the Imperial Federation Navy being deployed

Cinigrad, Estovakiva - Autarch Vladimir Makarov held a fifteen minute press conference with the vast majority of key Estovakivan media being present from TV to newspaper, his press conferance was indeed about the developing Beschrankt strait situation after Havenwalde moved a squadron of destroyers into the strait that is a key trade route for several nations including Estovakiva and its Romulă Cooperation Organisation allies it is also the fastest sea way to the Estovakivan Vostok archipelago .

Autarch Vladimir Makarov strode up to a brief applause and followed by silence before he spoke. "Ladies and gentlemen it is with great sorrow that I must announce that Estovakiva will deploy a squadron of Glastnev Class Destroyers to the Beschrankt strait should Havenwalde continue with an unnecessary naval presence in the strait. At first Havenwalde deployed destroyers under the pretense according to Alina Schroth that the RCO is a Threat to Area Security and Trade, however the actions done by Havenwalde certainly portrays a different image as Havenwalde appears to embrace gunboat diplomacy over a country joining a organization. By deploying naval ships into a major trade route, hence why we are only deploying ships, as a precautionary step to ensure that the flow of commerce is not hindered by Havenwalde gunboat diplomacy, be either RCO, CDI or OSEN for that matter. I do personally find it strange for Havenwalde to deploy these ships in a clear provocative fashion as the Federal Republic has allegedly taken the initiative to protect the trade route from unwarranted aggression. Nevertheless, what aggression? There were no tension in the the Beschrankt strait at all before Havenwalde deployed its ships not even pirates, perhaps the occasional illegal fisher, this is why Havenwalde is the inciter of the Beschrankt strait situation alongside Sieuxerr.
Additionally Chancellor Friedhelm Kluge said during his special press conference that “The Federal Republic is not trying to hamper trade from a certain nation or nations but is ensuring that peace, security will be upheld, and usual trade through the strait will continue as normal” For which I must reply why deploy ships in the first place, when there are no threats at all? ? in short there is no valid casus belli for this unnecessary and provocative action done by Havenwalde.

The Autarch`s final words before ending the press conference should indeed be taken note of as he urged the quick withdraw of unnecessary naval forces from the strait by Havenwalde. "Havenwalde should quickly withdraw its naval forces from the strait so the situation in the straits can normalize to its orginal state should Havenwalde refuse to do such it will end up being branded a pariah and a threat to Taverian peace and stability with its actions should it refuse to de-escalate the tensions. Tensions Havenwalde created and should Havenwalde continue on present escalating course, there will ofcourse be consequences."

Sources in the Imperial Federation Navy has informed the Volostivan that Estovakivan ships are being deployed with immediate effect to ensure the safety of the strait for all commerce, however these may already be in the final phase of reaching their deployment area, and that additional squadrons are on stand by awaiting green light by the Autarch.
TVNP`s Melinya Sharpov contributed to this report.

PRESSING NEWS DAILY FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Insiders: Provisa on REFORBEL 'Debacle': Irritated But Even-Keeled

According to administration and military inside sources, the top echelons of the Goldman administration are "irritated but even-keeled" over the embarrassing rollout - or lack thereof - of the biennial REFORBEL exercises. As what Arthuristan political correspondent Peter Waugh put so delicately, due to unseasonably late winter weather, thousands of Central Defense Initiative (CDI) troops were delayed in their home countries as Belhavian military airfields closed down during the cold front over Middle Belhavia dropped over ten inches of snow throughout the southerly sub-Arctic nation.

While some figures, such as Imperial War Minister Zalman Yitzchak Katz, reportedly said, "Weather is no excuse for gross incompetence," the mood in the Goldman inner circle was one of exasperation but optimism. The Imperial War Ministry spokesman, Maj. Gen. Jacob Abner, responded to press inquiries on the events as "[w]hile this is an unfortunate event, we have full confidence in our allies in Loweport to ensure the exercises move forward smoothly going forward, inclement weather not permitting."

Military and right-leaning pundits slammed the Arthuristans for a botched rollout of the exercises. "How do you ever expect the Arthuristans, living in their warm, liberal oasis in North Pardes to ever be able to effectively organize a proper military formation here in a snow-filled, self-disciplined nation such as ours?" An anonymous poster remarked on an unsigned email sent around without administrative approval to all first-year military cadets at the Freeport Military Academy in Freeport, Belhavia. Provisa-area radio host Saul Solomon said that "this liberal risk-averse non-sense has got to stop! Since when have our field commanders been replaced by insurance agents who are so frightened to step on a soldier's toe to endure a little snow that he might sue them in court - this is an Arthuristan mindset, folks, not a Belhavian one. Perhaps our own military leaders, who are immune to this foreign queasiness, should have been organizing this exercise, hm?"

Ordinary soldiers affected by the delay bemoaned the course of events. Sergeant Justin Gottlieb, with the 1st...[See more...]

Goldman Urges Calm In Escalating Beschrankt Strait, Broader Australis Tensions

Taking questions from the press today, President Eli Goldman responded to queries on recent escalations in and around Australis as "unfortunate." Several days ago, the autocratic country of Arcevia, long apart of the Romula Cooperation Organization (RCO)'s geopolitical orbit, cemented that status formally by joining the RCO outright as a full member. In reaction, several Organization of South-East Nation (OSEN) nations, led by Sieuxerrian President Adrien Auriol, denounced the move as "direct threat [sic]" and predicted the stationing of RCO forces in the region. Analysts believe that the Sieuxerrians, leader among the internal OSEN faction opposed to RCO and CDI influence in Australis and the Far East, want to set up a type of "red line" to dissuade the RCO or other non-native powers from deploying troops to an area of the world some OSEN powers view as exclusively under their geopolitical influence.

Touching on several related issues, Goldman reiterated publicly what previous silence by Provisa had been implied to mean by leading foreign policy watchers, saying that "the Empire of Belhavia believes that the Papal Republic of Rodarion, and other nations, have the right to deploy their own military and security forces as they see fit around their sovereign territory," alluding to OSEN-led criticism over Rodarian efforts in recent months to strength the defensive apparatus of the Rodarian Far East possession, the St. Viktor Islands.

On the deployment of Havenwalder and Estovakivan warships to the Beschrankt Strait and nearby areas for protection of trade routes, Goldman asserted that "while we understand where Betchstadt is coming from, such naval deployments is likely unnecessary considering the standard convention for protecting international sea lanes are multinational naval groups, not unilateral actions unless one nation's national security is at stake." He took a dim view of Estovakivan deployments, arguing that "we really need both sides to take a deep breath and re-evaluate their stances. I'm not sure what purpose Imperial Federation warships off Australis will serve, and I hope Cinigrad will reconsider such actions as the Havenwalders and others take a step back. South Pardes is, Baruch Hashem [Thank G-d], virtually devoid of piracy, so the need for any navy to actively patrol isn't required at this time."

He continued that "In our view, we think that regarding the escalating of tension around Australis, that there...[See more...]

Belhavia Endorses Arthuristan Plan On Neutral Investigations For the Plowy Attack

"We strongly endorse this plan concerning the troubling Plowy attack in the Bogorian conflict," Goldman told reporters. This is the first that Provisa has commented on the ongoing Bogorian conflict after months of silence. While Belhavia often assumes global leadership roles, analysts have noted that the nation has punted the CDI's leadership on the issue to Arthurista and Emmeria, between whom have jointly led the CDI response and rallied world opinion in Free Pardes on the small landlocked Lusankyan country's violent insurrection.

When asked about Rodarion's fiery denouncement of the plan, Goldman responded that "we are disappointed but not shocked." Elaborating, he posited that "it is understandable why some among Romula's more patriotic and nationalist circles would be cynical towards the Arthuristans; however, having known the liberal Arthuristan mindset for years, I can reassure those critical voices in Rodarion that Loweport's plan is based not on some secretive desire to humiliate the Papal Republic or of a distrust of Rodarian objectivity in fact-finding on this issue per se, but is based on longstanding Arthuristan cultural views that to arrive at the truth, there must be an impartial and objective party to investigate the facts."

However, he chuckled and noted amusedly, if on a sad note, that "many of these same people have criticized me in the past on contentious global issues, so while I hope they heed my words, they most likely will not."

The Imperial Foreign Ministry released a factsheet to the press on the Arthuristan plan, noting that it would be...[See more...]

An image of the missile system uploaded onto Twitter by a LDV member, is reportedly showing the missile that destroyed the field hospital in Plowy

Foreign Minister Mircea Basescu has denounced the Belfrasian decision to deploy its own "investigators" to determine the guilty party of the Plowy Missile Massacre. "His Holiness' government strongly protests at the Kingdom of Belfras' unilateral decision to deploy investigators to the crime scene, we have made clear from the start that all pieces of evidence produced will be put forward to be independently verified by experts at the OPA, this is an infringement upon the Papal Republic's right to conduct an investigation into the murder of 36 Rodarian nationals." The Belfrasian Prime Minister, Aaron Sentar also announced his government's intention to supply the Bogorian regime with arms and humanitarian aid, which the deliveries will be escorted by armed personnel of the Belfrasian Army.

Prime Minister Sentar's decision to greatly escalate already precarious tensions over the Bogoria Crisis has not been met well at all in Romula, with numerous statements from Senators from across all parties denouncing the move. In a televised press conference this evening, Foreign Minister Basescu charged the Belfrasian government of desperate attempts to secure the innocence of the Bogorian regime, "I do doubt whether the Belfrasian government truly wishes to secure justice for those massacred, they are so desperate to ensure the innocence of their associates in Utena, that they will barge their way in like a bull in a china shop, this is not acceptable diplomatic behaviour."

BNN was offered the opinion of a Damien Garner who claimed the Plowy Massacre was conducted by the Papal Republic for the sake of whipping up public support for an intervention into the conflict, he also claims that the investigation is bogus and a mere show, despite clear evidence of the government's guilt. Damien Garner is a former member of the Belfrasian special operations forces known as the Myrmidon, with such close ties to the Belfrasian military establishment, his opinion on the war is undoubtedly biased.

Speaking on NTV News this evening, Interior Minister Radu Hasdeu, stated that if the Papal Republic wanted to intervene in Bogoria, it didn't require a major incident like the Plowy Massacre, it would only look at the events on the ground. "Not only is the accusations of a false flag attack insulting, but it is also scandulous. I can say for certain that if the Papal Republic wanted to intervene in Bogoria, it would not need a hideous incident like this to justify it, we already have justification. We have almost 5,000 civilians killed by a government conducting a barbaric and indiscriminate campaign against its own people due to their ethnicity and faith, we have justification, yet have chosen to allow peace to develop on its own."

Speaking further, Foreign Minister Basescu urged the Belfrasian government to avoid dispatching its own investigators, citing possible rebel opposition on the ground. "The Belfrasian mentality is extraordinary, do they really believe that the rebels will even host the idea of welcoming them into their territory after the same government announced its intentions to send their enemies weapons which will be used to slaughter them? It does not require thinking really, I cannot emphasise this enough, it is a dangerous mentality in a hostile region of the continent, dangerous for the investigators and dangerous for the peace process."

His Holiness has asked for calm in his evening prayer television on Vatican TV, he said, "I urge our brothers and sisters in Belfras to be restrained in their actions regarding the Plowy Incident, I have made clear to the investigators on the ground that all evidence they find must be put to the world for verification and they cannot do otherwise. Making an issue out of this nation's quest for justice for the murder of 36 innocent people is not necessary or appropriate, I urge for restraint, let us find what we find and we will present it all to the world for their own interpretation."

The Pope's words have been echoed by other senior Curia officials, with Cardinal Secretary of State, Remus Draganescu also urging the Belfrasian government to avoid causing an escalation, by forcing its own investigation into the mix.

This image shows the remains of another Tochka-U missile fired at Plowy 46 minutes
before the second missile struck the field hospital.

"Tensions are high on the ground and in and around Bogoria, the rebels will not welcome any Belfrasian individual trying to cross the frontline, in light of the news the Belfrasian government will send the Bogorian government weapons and other assets, this is not how peace is built, nor is it how trust is built, the Belfrasian threaten the Oured Agreement more so than fighting on the ground, we need Isn Deslen to show restraint" he said on PRRB1 News this evening. Cardinal Secretary of State Draganescu has been a key player in relaying messages between negotiations and the rebel leadership and was a strong advocate for the ceasefire deal.
The ISI has released further information from its investigation in Bogoria, several photographs have been published by the ISI for verification, two important pictures have been published here. The first (the main picture at the top of this page), shows the Tochka-U missile system believed to be responsible for the incident, the photograph was taken by a Bogorian Local Defence Volunteer, who published the image on twitter moments before the explosion at the field hospital, the ISI conducted an analysis of the picture, finding that the building in the background is the Hesslawoskie Brick Factory, the same factory was found on satellite images of the supposed launch site.

The second photograph is of the remains of Tochka-U missile, several kilometres outside of Plowy, taken by UBLF rebels the same day as the incident, the missile struck a hilly area roughly 46 minutes before the explosion at the field hospital, ISI investigators collected the remains and confirmed it to be a Tochka-U, the ISI has surmised that the Bogorian Defence Force had fired upon Plowy 46 minutes before firing again, which killed almost 200 people. All photographs will be verified by OPA experts along with other findings collected by the ISI.

Whether Prime Minister Sentar commits to escalating the Bogorian Crisis further is a matter to be seen in the coming days, Foreign Minister Basescu concluded his press conference by stating that the government will continue to pressure Isn Deslen to avoid such a provocation and await the ISI's final report before conducting any brash measures.

Nakamura Urges "A Step Back" As OSEN-RCO Rhetoric Intensifies

Image
Prime Minister Nakamura Shinichiro addresses media in this file photo. Nakamura has called upon world leaders to de-escalate tensions between OSEN and the RCO following Arcevia's accession to the latter.

Hokkaishu Prime Minister Nakamura Shinichiro today addressed the growing tensions between the Organisation of South-East Nations and Romulan Cooperation Organisation, calling for restraint in rhetoric and action in the midst of Arcevia's accession to the RCO earlier last week.

The Arcevian Union, governed by a self-styled autocracy since 1905, has often been at odds with the neighboring Kingdom of Tule, a situation which intensified in the Valentine's Day Crisis of 1989. This, coupled with Sieuxerrian joint-security basing in Tule from the early 1970s, contributed to the perceived sense of isolation on the Skanderan continent and led Arcevian Supreme Chancellor Alexander Stockton to announce last week that Arcevia had applied for full membership in the RCO. Ironically, this application comes despite having voted against one of its member-states in a prior OPA resolution.

With deep ties to RCO economies, and a general desire to "join the connected Pardes," in the words of Mr Stockton, many analysts regarded the accession as a foregone conclusion, with some pointing out that the Arcevian government's expressed desire to refrain from stationing foreign troops and continue trade with OSEN and Skanderan states could potentially represent a breakthrough in oft-chilled relations between Arcevia, its new allies and the Skanderan bloc. Those expectations were dimmed, however, by an immediate and harsh reaction by Sieuxerrian President Adrien Auriol referring to the RCO as "the devil of Catholicism" and predicting "RCO jackboots...in Arcevian streets," should Arcevian RCO membership come to pass.

Against this backdrop, coupled with increased tensions in Bogoria and Havenwalde, Prime Minister Nakamura today called for restraint on all sides, telling the Diet that the right of nations to choose their own path "must be respected, even where disagreement exists."

"We must all, as nations and neighbours in the world community, take a step back from our pulpits and engage civilly and respectfully with one another. While we may disagree with the choice [of Arcevia], we respect their right to choose their own way in the world and call upon our friends and allies to follow." Nakamura added that he had spoken via phone with Auriol, and briefly addressed the conversation today in his scheduled press briefing.

"Our discussion was proactive, as always," Nakamura told PBC and others this afternoon. "While I may disagree with my esteemed colleague's choice of words, we are in agreement that harsh words are preferable to rash action, and fully committed to working within our alliance and the Skanderan continent to assure our continued security and the continued peace of Skandera and the world." The Prime Minister did not offer any specific comment on Arcevia's assertion that RCO membership will not entail troop deployment to Arcevian territory; however, in a separate statement released later this evening Nakamura expressed "hope...in a well-reasoned choice," by the Arcevian government.

"My government trusts and hopes that the government of Arcevia has arrived at is choice, as we at ours, through a healthy process of debate and discussion fueled by a desire to serve the ends of its people and the greater goods of peace," the statement read. "In a world such as ours, with such high stakes and dire consequences, such an historic ventures deserves and requires no less than this."

The Army is the main candidate for these international renovations.

Isn Deslen, Belfras - The Right Honorable Anthony Ford, the Secretary of Defence, has today announced plans to invite a multitude of international designers into Kallen Spire to begin "drastic renovations" of the armed forces. In his statement, he noted that "existing systems utilized by the armed forces" were "below acceptable standards, with some units relying on ten year old equipment." and stated that "the armed forces requires technology from our allies in order to bring ourselves up to date."

He went on to say that "The military requires new equipment, new electronics, and new weapons. The Spatha Assault Rifle has been in service since the 1980s and has had a bad track record for survivability in any harsh environment. The Air Force requires new auxiliary craft: Refuelling aircraft, training equipment, even strike aircraft and bombers. The naval air arm will be requiring carrier-borne AWACs and fuel tenders along with a platform to replace the 40-year old Shrike aircraft. Few materials from overseas have found themselves into service with our armed forces, some being the Estovnian Rdv. 170 and the Emmerian UNADS F-29 Warrior. In the modern world, we need modern equipment."

Nathaniel Ridgewood reported on this with the assistance of his junior correspondence team.

The Neidmar Daily

Primeminister Announces Neidmars
intention to open up to the world

The world stage has been rocked recently as nations leader accuse each other of this that and other inflamatory comments. Those of you who follow the world news will know that is nothing new and leaders of the Central Defence Initiative, Romula Cooperative Organisation and the Organisation of South Eastern Nations have always been flinging insults everywhich way but up. With the world stage as volatile as it is it may come to a shock to many to hear the announcement of Primeminister George Hess last night. At a late news conference at 8pm last night Primeminister George Hess announced his intentions to take Neidmar forward on the world stage and play a more active role in world politics.

"We as a country are strong and united, Neidmar has built upon success after success and our nation is a shining exmple of what determination and will power really can acheive. So today id like to announce that we are looking to take that determination and will power to the world. Our economy is stronger than ever before but it can only grow so much with our limited trade partners. It is time to reach out to other nations and organisations with an olive branch and say we can help each other create oppertunities for the citzens of Neidmar and the citizens of their repsective countries. From this moment on this government will look to seek out closer ties with the worlds organisations in the name of creating peace and oppertunity for all."

With the current world political climate as it is many have asked why Hess and his cabinet have chosen now to come out and announce the end of Neidmars semi isolation. Some speculate that with Rodarion becoming ever more militant over the Bogorian Crisis due to external pressures of other nations around the globe. Neidmar is positioning itself as a possible voice of reason in the region to gain political support from the CDI and OSEN faction members. Despite all the political stancing around the world Primeminister George Hess has one major point backing him, opening up trade to the world would create new oppertunities for Neidmars economy to grow. As it stands the NERDAN has plateued over the past year and there are fears of an economic crash if nothing is done about it.

We tried to reach out Primeminister Hess and his cabinet over the deepening Bogarian Crisis, however the government seems to be keeping tight lipped over the crisis at this time.

"Whilst we find the killing of civillians a dasterdly and deplorable act brutality the Neidmarrian government has no offical stance regarding the events in Bogaria at this time."
