MIVYTZ: "Rodarion will not be able to survive one day"
The following portrays the views of Pawel Mivytz, a Bogorian economist who was part of the war cabinet, fled to South Lake during the Bogorian war. His views do not represent the views of Liberty Square Journal and its employees.

LSJ - The Central Defense Initiative is a bastion formed back in 1989 by the Western States and Belfras to establish a mutual defense alliance that would secure the waters of the Central ocean. Soon it expanded with nations such as Arthurista, Belhavia and the United Republic making a joint secured force whose ideals became intertwined with preserving international law framed in the Grand Council. However - PRRB a state-owned Romulan News outlet claims otherwise listing members of the CDI - Belfras as founding member in particular - as high alert threats to world stability.

But according to facts, PRRB seemingly missed, Romula initiated the most unprovoked military interventions in the 21st century and CDI in most cases was the CDI who undermined these breaches of international law. Just recently in central Lusankya the Romulan forces entered sovereign Bogoria, which is an act of aggression and thus perpetually continues its imperialistic agenda. But Bogoria is just one of the many examples the authoritarian regime in Romula overlooked and stamped as an exception.

The real question remains; will Rodarion survive if they turn their backs on CDI nations? The answer is indefinitely no. According to the economists; Despite their significant export figures and consistent annual GDP growth their stocks will plummet, their housing will fail miserably and foreign investment will go down the drain. This is simply because they lack partnership and the global financial instruments lie in the hands of CDI and CDI affiliated states.

South Lake for example, although a market state that is not a member of the Central Defense Initiative, but who definitely has strong ties with each CDI member state, hosts the financial capital of the world, which accounts for the largest stock exchange, prints the second largest reserve currency, house to one of the largest private banking systems in the world and represents one of the largest businesses active even within Romula itself. Turning their back on them and hundreds of thousands of joint ventures will not do any good for Rodarion as a nation and its peoples.

What today voices in Romula continuously strives for - is dumping the Western Dollar, but by doing to that world economy or at least in significant parts of the world will collapse. Destroying a once fiat currency - and now foreign exchange market / gold standard related currency, might even damage the precious metal itself. Global economist state the the faith of gold rests in world stability, hence why its rate is mostly fixed. Romulan economists know this and they cannot inflict global recession.

What can the CDI nations inflict on Romula? They can definitely impose economic sanctions that hit the core of the Romulan economy. Simply said, they would be inflicted severe damage to their banking system joint business projects and infrastructure. This is because the country is still a developing country, due to Western, Arthuristan, and Belhavian investment the Rodarians now have functioning cars and the middle class of the country experiences a growth from being predominantly lower class prior. It is due to these foreign investments and trade cooperation with the CDI that Romula is where it is now. Hypothetically, were the CDI nations prosperous before economic growth in Rodarion? Yes. Are they still going to be prosperous if they impose sanctions on Rodarion? Yes. Rodarion on the other hand without foreign investment will plummet without remorse. Romula should stop insisting hatred between groups, this will only pose damage to its own country, rather it should know its place. The largest economic power is Arthurista and it is a CDI nation.

Whether South Lakers ca accept it or not, the Papal Republic is the second largest economy in the world and vital to global economic health.

Sanctions, sanctions, sanctions. The by-words on the lips of quasi-politicians in South Lake, which in relation to the Torchland situation has come out of the blue, considering until this morning the situation was perfectly peaceful and calm, until this rather dubious insinuation that ethnic Rodarians carrying obscenely damaging evidence of their connections to the United Carnaro Front, killed the Belfrasian ambassador to Torchland. According to the opinion of a Bogorian exile, with clear bias, claims that CDI sanctions on the Papal Republic could destroy it, whilst this is partially true, the collapse or sudden halt of growth in the Papal Republic would crash the global economy as much its own.

Let us say for the purpose of this editorial that the CDI states enact sanctions against the Papal Republic, do as the exile suggests, targeting the second largest economy in the world's banking functions, investment and joint ventures, what would happen? Well of course, first the Papal Republic would suffer, investment however would not be an issue, since the Rodarian state has $3.7 trillion worth of reserves to keep investing inwardly. But problems would arise, eventually these problems would be exported and here is where the world as a whole suffers.

Firstly, every country that benefits hugely from Rodarion's demand for oil, metals, materials and machine tools in its industrial centres. and other basic resources to the Papal Republic will lose the largest consumer of hydrocarbons in the world as a reliant customer, oil and gas prices would skyrocket as demand falls, commodity prices will also skyrocket. Rodarian manufacturing that fuels the world and keeps inflation in the developed world down because of low prices on everyday goods will increase or go into shortage, inflation in the developed world will increase, the spending power of ordinary citizens in the developed world will decrease in strength. Since no other developing economy can match the sheer scale of Rodarian manufacturing, there will be shortages of virtually every basic good; shoes, clothes, televisions, mobile phones, toys, stationary, printers, air conditioners even light bulbs, imagine the fury when families in Belhavia for example go out to shop for summer clothes and find the shelves empty, imagine a university student in Oured travelling to a computer store to find there's no printers because the factory in Rodarion that produces them for IT company has shut down, imagine the fury of developed nations facing shortages like those that made life in Communist states so brutal.
Having a legitimate economist propose such nonsensical arguments is deeply concerning, the Papal Republic may well be a developing nation, but it is the second largest economy in the world, possibly the largest by next year depending on Arthurista's economic situation.

The Papal Republic is so interwoven in the global economy, that even a non-imposed slow down in the Rodarian economy is felt in every corner of the globe, from Dakos to the most deprived mining towns in Ashizwe. To be willing to obliterate the global economy along with that of developing countries is profoundly arrogant, to be considering damaging Anikatia's economy, which is one of the largest exporters of capital goods to the Papal Republic, willing to damage Belhavia's economy which is the Papal Republic's second largest trading partner, willing to damage Temuair's economy which exports vast quantities of oil to the Papal Republic is beyond words. To argue for the collapse of the world's largest consumer market is beyond words, to do so on the basis of Bogoria is also beyond reckoning.

The fact that some are considering sanctions as a means of controlling the Torchland situation is in itself nonsensical, what has the Papal Republic done to warrant such suicidal notions? The Rodarian government has remained silent on the Torchland affair, it has urged for discussion and calm debate, whilst the Torchlander government passes scorn and hateful rhetoric unopposed. The Rodarian government even banned its own citizens from donating money to the political movements campaigning for Carnaro's reunification with Rodarion, this warrants an economic war?

What appears to be the basic current running through this new anti-Rodarion trend is South Laker delusions of importance and relevance. Self declarations of being the world's financial capital will most likely put it at odds with Dakos, Chaleur and Loweport, yet South Lakers can be forgiven for their delusions, for once being citizens of something greater than South Lake itself and probably ever will be. Though a reminder that the Western Confederate States collapsed through economic mismanagement and frivolous spending until the debt destroyed it, is testament to the differences between their economic outlook and that of the Papal Republic, yes the Papal Republic is where it is today through the cooperation of CDI economic powers and that cooperation will continue despite political misgivings because the world is a globalised one and an interconnected one, but the Papal Republic is also where it is today because of good economic governance, economic competence and a powerhouse work force that has built the factory of the world from nothing.

The voices say Rodarion should cease being aggressive, stop fermenting hatred between groups, yet by using sanctions as a means of controlling the Torchlander situation, are they not denying self-determination to 4 million people? By threatening sanctions are they not threatening the very living standards of 1.4 billion people? How can they demand such thing whilst proposing something short of an act of war? The voices in South Lake should reflect on their own warnings and threats, because they're simply adding more weight that the argument that the free world has abandoned freedom, that liberty is no longer their banner to wave, but not firmly belongs to the people of humanity. These economists should also truly address the structure and nature of the world economy before making flippant remarks from positions of self-imagined power and influence.

Department of Navy announces increased bomber flights and ship deployments between Estovnia and key RCO allies
Bombers are expected to fly "dangerously close" to Belfrasian territorial possession airspaces of Laesico and Viljland and the Belhavian overseas territory of Ross.

The Volvo A.70 ''Válkírí" is the largest bomber in the Estovnian Navy's arsenal

Niva - Estovnia, earlier this evening, the Secretary of the Navy announced that, to increase military cooperation between Estovnia and long-standing RCO memberstates, strategic bombers will begin routine flights between airbases in northern Estovnia and Southern and Central Rodarion; northern Estovnia and Southern Tarsas; and the overseas territory of Karlela and Livirica. The announcement by the Department of the Navy has been criticized as "needless escalation of an already delicate situation" by political critics and dissidents, who feel that this move will further hinder relations with CDI nations after it was announced last week that CDI foreign nationals were to be forcibly removed from the nation, and the growing situation between Rodarion and Belfras over Torchland.

"The inaction of the CDI has not gone unnoticed," Secretary of the Navy Soili Kumpulainen said in a brief news conference. "In the case that the CDI no longer remains dormant, it is crucial for the military to have good cooperation with the militaries of fellow RCO memberstates. The groundwork for said cooperation begins here and begins now."

The bombers, under the jurisdiction of the Naval Bomber Command, are expected to be a mix of Estovnian A.70 "Valkyrie" supersonic bombers and Anikatian Tubong Tu-55 "Björnen" turboprop bomber from the 6th, 9th, 14th, and 22nd Strategic Interdiction Squadrons. The 6th squadron, stationed at Korland AFB in Atmora, is expected to begin flights tomorrow and will be heading towards unnamed bases in southern Rodarion near the Basilerian border. The 9th squadron, based in Turkuu AFB in Karlela, will begin flights early next week and will begin making routine flights to an undisclosed base in Livirica. The remaining flights have not been announced, but are expected to begin flights to Central Rodarion and Southern Tarsas by the end of the week.

The bombers are to be escorted by two J.10 "Rapier" fighter-interceptors at a 2:1 fighter-bomber ratio. They are to escort the bombers two-thirds of the way to their respective destinations and have permission to "exercise lethal measures on any CDI aircraft that attempt to intercept them in international airspace." The fighters were developed specifically for escorting the A.70, alongside a more traditional intercept role against Tarsan long-range bombers that may have been bought by various Free Pardes nations.

Alongside the bombers, the Navy announced it was deploying a small naval taskforce consisting of the ERS Innocent IV and ERS Gregory II S-class frigates and the ERS Halbut F-class corvette to the Bay of Ionia, near the Rodarian island province of Aeolia, to "further establish Rodarian and RCO control over the disputed Iovian Rise." It is unsure whether or not further naval deployments will be made and the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense refused to comment on the matter any further.

In the same press conference, it was also announced by the Department of Defense that a military exercise will be taking place in the White Shore province and will consist of the 222nd Haara-Sunds Marine Brigade, 314th Red Banner Guards Marine Brigade, 101st Guards Marine Brigade, the 17th Air Assault Brigade, and the 82nd Air Assault Brigade. The spokesman refused to comment if this was a routine exercise or was called in anticipation for any sort of military conflict.

Estovnia announces bounties and provocative patrols
Patrols and flights ordered to counter "direct provocation"

Viper flights from Laesico have doubled in less than a day following Estovnia's threats

Malcan, Laesico - The Estovnian government has further caused controversy by posting bounties on top Belfrasian figures and ordering the shooting down of any RAF flight that approaches it's armed bombers as they transit dangerously close to Laesico and Viljland. The move, made just days after the forced ejection of all CDI citizens from within the country's borders has heightened fears of a war brewing between the organization and Estovnia, with top politicians stating that the actions of Estovnia are in direct contrast with RCO interests.

In a heated reply by the Belfrasian government, the Prime Minister has mobilized the majority of the Central Ocean military assets including the second fleet and the royal air force garrisons on both Laesico and Viljland. His statement goes on to declare an exclusion zone to prevent Estovnian flights from straying close to the territories and that those violating it would be intercepted by fighter patrols. The overhanging threat of Estovnians planes shooting down RAF flights that approach has apparently been taken seriously, with the second fleet being seen mobilizing from Laesico with patrols being announced to provide anti-air and anti-submarine coverage. Prior to the statement by the Prime Minister in Isn Deslen, top military officials were quoted as saying that they expect that this is a prelude to a military attack by Estovnia against either Laesico or Viljland, with others citing concern that the RCO was allowing Estovnia to provoke such tensions. If one thing was made clear by the Prime Minister today, however, was that the Kingdom would be rising to the challenge posed by the Estovnian government.

Speaking earlier, Prime Minister Aaron Sentar made the following statement:

"This morning the Estovnian government in more moves without basis in justification have begun armed bomber patrols dangerously close to CDI possessions, of which the island groups of Laesico and Viljland are included. They have also allegedly issued bounties on the heads of state for every CDI country, myself included. These actions are designed by the government of Estovnia to do one thing; To start hostilities between the Central Defence Initiative and Estovnia. After careful discussions with the security cabinet we have agreed that all foreign trips will be cancelled and that this situation be given our utmost attention. It's our belief that these actions by Estovnia are it's own and not a part of a larger RCO plan. Let's get down to the very blunt facts. The Kingdom is one of the head country of the CDI, an organization which is on the back foot after two losses by pro-RCO forces. The Papal Republic is the head country of the RCO. Our conflicts have been limited and we've never actually traded fire over one very simple fact: In the event of a war in today's world, we would destroy each other. We might call the Papal government crazy and they may do the same to us, but we're all perfectly aware that those words will never translate into action because we would both lose more than we'd gain. That being said, it's in the RCO's best interest to separate themselves from the government in Estovnia which is after an armed conflict. For all of our sakes.

"The Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy have both been tasked with setting up a one hundred and fifty mile exclusion zone around both Laesico and Viljland into International waters. Given the incredibly hostile rhetoric and threats of military action, it is in our national interests to protect our citizens. Civilian flights will be allowed to carry on, but all Estovnian flights entering this zone will be subject to interception and escort by flights from either the Royal Air Force itself or the Fleet Air Arm. The air force garrisons on both Laesico and Viljland are to be reinforced and the second fleet, headquartered at Laesico, is ordered to be fully mobilized. Carrier groups three and five, assigned to second fleet, have been issued orders to leave port immediately to begin air patrols in enforcement of the exclusion zone against Estovnian flights. In regards to the ejection of all CDI citizens from Estovnia, specially chartered flights have been ordered to Estovnia to assist in the evacuation by Belfrasian nationals ahead of this fluid time limit concluding. We urge any Belfrasian nationals unable to get to any of the airports listed following this to get to the embassy where you will be safe under World Council regulations.

"Finally, to answer a question asked by a reporter earlier. Any military action by Estovnia against the Armed Forces or citizens of our country will be considered as an act of war that we will respond to immediately. This includes the orders given by the Estovnian government to it's pilots to shoot down any Royal Air Force plane they see. Whilst I cannot detail deployments, please be assured that we're taking the threat seriously and fighters that will be sent to escort these bombers will be sufficiently protected by both fellow fighters and surface-to-air missile batteries on land and at sea."

Shortly after the announcements by the Estovnian government, protestors began travelling to the embassy in Isn Deslen to protest against the government of Estovnia, with banners calling for Estovnia to stop, for the arrest of the Ambassador to the deaths of the heads of the Estovnian government. The Isn Deslen Police Department have subsequently formed a perimeter around the Embassy but have orders not to interfere with the protest as long as it remains peaceful.

With talk of embargo actions against the Papal Republic, The Right Honorable Luciana Phillips, the Secretary of State, called talks of a Belfrasian embargo "simply not true", going further to say that "No country trades more with anybody else than with those of whom it shares a land border with. Businesses in both of our countries would suffer with dire consequences to our economies in the event of an embargo. It would kill their economy, yes, but it would also kill ours. Almost a third of imported goods come from the Papal Republic either across the Sorrentine Sea or directly across the land border into the province of Callis. Despite our national differences and our current level of tensions, I am pleased to say that I have a good working relationship with my opposite within the Papal Republic as our continued business relationships are vital for our economies."

Falsely accused of economic warmongering?
Following the LSJ report of war refugee Mivytz, Rodarion finance minister decided to respond and denounce South Lake and its governing organs for the opinion of one individual. "Shocking", and "inappropriate", to many pundits. In the recent PRRB report - the country depicted doom scenarios if sanctions would be met and economic war would be waged. Escalating biased rhetoric the PRRB produces on a daily basis has maybe gone too far now? The South Lake board responds.

PICTURED: Finance representative of the South Laker board, Luke Mackenzie.

LSJ - Our most recent report of columnist Mivytz, a Bogorian refugee that came to South Lake to flee the horrors of his countries expressed his views on the ongoing situation. He never expected a response from Finance minister Garbarini of Rodarion, in which Mivytz words were harshly denounced. But perhaps more unfortunate is that the Rodarion minister directly attacked the South Laker board of directors for sharing his views. Luke Mackenzie finance representative of the board was interviewed today to respond to accusations of allegedly trying to wage economic war against Rodarion.

Finance representative Mackenzie was known as a congressman during the Confederal States, representing the Confederate Party. He left the party in august 2013, a few days after the Liberty Square crash, when the Lewis Yorkshire Industrial Average (LYIA) - the main market indicator of the world - plummeted 24.5%. He pursued his career as international businessman, traveling to places like Dakos, Voluntari and Chaleur. He was the one who proposed the Confederal Debt limit, which would allow a structural repayment to IOU-holders as well as debts that were not domestic-related. This was rejected by the two political parties, what followed was the fiscal cliff. Mr. Mackenzie was interviewed by Thomas Williams of LSJ Econ.

Representative Mackenzie. Rodarion Finance minister, mr. Garbarini, stated that South Lake is willing to wage economic war aginst Rodarion, is this true?

"These rumors are simply false Thomas. Let me make this clear, his [Myvitz's] views do not stand in line with the South Laker board nor has the board ever had the intent to wage any kind of economic war. We have partners in Rodarion that we hold dearly, and as a market state we are neutral and abide by our liberal laws that include a fair trade to all nations of the Global Trade Organization, and NOCOTA as trade pact in particular."

But the minister claims that a sudden halt of growth of their annual GDP would collapse the world economy, is that true?

"All nations of the world, whether big or small, will endure disadvantage if a certain nation is exempt from global trade. It is because the import and export - supply and demand chain - that if a nation is excluded from global trade it will deprive of economic interests and harm the countries it has economic relations with - even if it was not intended by the nations that imposed these economic sanctions in the first place. And since we live in a globalized world, and so many nations are interconnected with each other, this has consequences for everyone - so in this case not only for Mr. Garbarini."

It is said that commodities, crude oil and gas will skyrocket must the Rodarion be isolated. What do you think of that?

"Let me start by answering to his concerning of oil and gas in particular. The price per barrel is standing solidly, as it has for a long time. Oil prices are mostly dependent on international organizations such as OFEM [Organization for a free energy market] and Akkadiyan nations, their individual export-import policies, which determine global supply and demand. I think that must there be an economic war waged - which I highly doubt - our global reserves in these particular countries will hold up tight enough so that there is enough supply to stabilize the oil price. Nonetheless, this will effect the price, but not for a very long time."

The finance minister likewise claims that there will be global inflation, particularly in developed nations, and that in such a way it will effect the market states as well, is this true?

"Well," the representative started with a giggle, "Our nation is going through a deflationary spiral and this is mostly the case because the market state system is very competitive and free from government authority. So this would only come in handy for us! No, but in all seriousness, we do not have a lender of last resort system here, unlike nations such as Belhavia, Arthurista, and Anikatia - the central bank sets interest rates and I think in each of these countries it is rather stabilized, because they have a backed monetary policy that deals with emergency situations like these. But mr. Garbarini is right in that Rodarion - as an export country provides so much to these nations and vice versa that either way it would damage economic development. Although I highly doubt these developed nations will become communist wastelands."

To the rest of the accusations the representatives refused to answer, because many believe they were either inflammatory or irrelevant. Today stocks wavered with Torchlander stock making a little dive, mainly because of the ongoing situation there and the concern of investors. Next we have the Lewis Yorkshire Industrial Average which made a neutral run today closing + 4.59 pts. We will keep you updated.

Goldman: Litany of Global Anti-CDI Actions "Dangerous To World Peace"

Image
Pictured: President Eli Goldman, right, walking with Belfrasian Ambassador to Belhavia, Sir Charles Goodworth, left, before addressing the press this morning.

Imperial Government: Exclusion zone established around Ross islands, 'reprisals', 'war' will result if 'bounty' threats 'actualized.'
January 12th, 2016| By Elazar Cohen (ecohen@aij.org) (AIJ) | 12:03pm EDT

PROVISA, BELHAVIA — In a stark reversal of what was hailed just last month as "the warmest Rodar-Belhavian relations in years", President Goldman condemned the recent State Review of National Security for the Papal Republic report which labeled the CDI collectively as "national security threats" as "completely and categorically unacceptable." He said that "[w]e here in the Empire of Belhavia feel utterly betrayed being referred to as 'security threats' after years - indeed, centuries - of friendship and cordiality. There is no ambiguity in Consul Civitarese and Pope Constantine's signed document: 'the Kingdom of Belfras and its CDI allies are national security threats to Rodarion.' This is not how 'friends' treat one another," Goldman asserted curtly. "I fail to see how Romula and the Civitarese ministry could call the entirety of the CDI - including Belhavia - a 'security threat' and expect to continue as if all is well. It is not. Rodarion's unilateral and careless rhetoric and action has endangered years of steady bilateral progress between our nations. I offer the Consul and Pontiff an opportunity to explain their seeming disregard for robust and cordial Rodar-Belhavian relations, however, if formalization of the CDI and by implication Belhavia as 'enemies' of Rodarion remains the policy of the Papal Republic, then our relations will lose any warmth and cooperation will be withdrawn from bilateral matters in light of such a Rodarian perspective towards our august Empire."

Provisa Condemns, Warns Estovnia On "Unacceptable, Reckless, and Warlike Aggressive" Actions

Pivoting closer to home, the President strongly condemned the Niva regime in Estovnia for "unacceptable, reckless, and warlike aggressive provocations", assailing the comprehensive deportation of all foreign nationals from CDI member-states from Estovnia and for starting aggressive bomber flights near overseas CDI territories, including Belhavian and Belfrasian possessions, with threats to 'shoot down' CDI aircraft that approach such flights in international waters. He hit the Estovnian leadership for "such radical and unhinged policies", referring to the deportation of tens of thousands of CDI nationals. The President quipped: "If Estovnia wants to disrupt its already static economy by kicking out the only entrepreneurs and people with economic know-how from within its borders over paranoid delusions of 'CDI conspiracies', they will see how foolish their actions are as their economy takes a necessary hit from such a sudden upheaval of brain drain from their industry."

Darkening his tone, he unsparingly denounced the bomber flights near Belhavian colonial territories. In response, he announced, mimicking a similar move by Belfras, Belhavia will "effective immediately establish a 150 mile exclusion zone around the Ross archipelagos and other colonial possessions to prevent Estovnian flights from approaching our territories," and continued that "those violating it would be intercepted by IAF fighter patrols and escorted outside of the EZ." Goldman warned: "Any act of Estovnian military personnel firing on Belhavian or other nations' flights, ships, or other vessels either in internationwal waters, or within the Belhavian exclusion zone, would be an act of war, and such Estovnian craft would be shot down on sight by Imperial air force and navy craft. On this matter, I completely and fully support Belfrasian Prime Minister Aaron Sentar's similar proclamation earlier today."

He continued on to the topic of "bounties" issued by the Estovnian State Security Agency for the assassination of CDI leaders, saying pointedly towards the Niva regime, "the actualization of such actions is an act of war. Plain and simple. Estovnia does not have the authority to kill foreign officials on a whim. An attempt or successful follow-through on such 'bounties' will lead to reprisals and a full declaration of war on Estovnia, which will result in its categorical defeat. Don't test our resolve, it is a losing proposition to you."

President Goldman called on Romula to "control your alliance's member-states from behaving in such reckless and warlike ways," adding, "a failure to do so will inhibit the stated Rodarian desire to be considered universally by other nations as a responsible and recognized world power." He turned to other RCO powers such as Tarsas, praising the West Akkadiyan and Near East power as a "voice of reasonableness" and urged Tarsan leadership to "restore a sense of sanity and propriety to the RCO as the world's other major geopolitical bloc."

Experts: New Cold War Has Arrived?

The sudden and potentially violent crisis erupted three days ago with the formalization of all CDI members as "enemies" of Rodarion, and was upped with radically aggressively and militaristic moves by Estovnia against Belfrasian and Belhavian territories and the deportation of all foreign nationals from the CDI. However, "the New Cold War has been going on for years," argued geopolitics scholar Benjamin Netan-Lev, an adjutant professor of international relations at the Callas Liberal Arts College and scholar-in-residence at the Dakos-based and ideologically center-left Center for Global Political Studies. "Bogoria, Torchland - these are only recent manifestations of a decade-and-a-half-long effort by Rodarion to join the 'court of world powers' and then to overthrow it for an international system reordered to its own desires and sensibilities. Arthuristan military analysts have been right for years - if only we in the Free World had listened to them."

Anti-Rodarian players inside the Belhavian government crowed in a gleeful "I-told-you-so" attitude. "I've long said that Rodarion can't be trusted, and here we are," Sen. Adrian Kalian (C-West Dakos), the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and avowed anti-Rodarion activist in Tory politics. "I warned [President Goldman] for years, but he allowed himself to be fooled and misled by these authoritarians. It's not [Goldman's] fault, really - Romula's manipulative leaders used us and now have made true their real feelings - that of enmity towards our great nation." Kalian was joined by the Liberal Democratic Senate leader, Minority Leader Sen. John Fellan (LD-Merrina), who concurred. "The Rodarians are a silver-tongued lot, especially their leaders. I warned our friends across the aisle not to be lured in by promises of Rodarian friendship. Now they knifed us in the back."

2016 Lib Dem presidential candidate and frontrunner for his party, Arkania Gov. Yitzchak Feinstein, hit Goldman on Rodarion, charging, "This is what you get being friendly with vicious authoritarians. A weak Tory president has put our national security in jeopardy."

Pro-Rodarian figures in the Senate and government remained silent. Sen. Ian Settas, a failed 2016 candidate and the Senate's Majority Leader, refused comment, as did Vice-President Jacob Grossman, a top Goldman adviser and generally regarded as warm to Rodarian interests in Belhavia. Cabinet minister and Chief Education Commissioner Piero Ferrari, himself an ethnic Rodar-Catholic with longstanding ties to Rodarion, ducked from reporters and declined to comment.

President Goldman concluded his press conference, saying, "These litany of global anti-CDI actions are dangerous to world peace itself."

Emperador Avila addresses Chamber of Burgess and press regarding world issues

Image
During morning remarks, Emperador Avila took several moments to address several pressing world issues

Dinsar – Astrid: Amidst a multitude of internal issues, Emperador Avila VII took several moments during a morning press conference to address several international issues, commenting that "As long as I am upon the throne, this government will always protect the interests of its people, both citizen and subject, domestically and around the world. Although we are faced with a great task ahead of us in the rebuilding of Gratislavia, and though our suffering is great, we must never forget that we exist as part of a largest world, lest all of our work and bloodshed be in vain."

The principal topic of the Emperadors speech was the recent spark of tension between several members of the Romulă Cooperation Organisation, particularly the organisation's newest member, the First Estovnian Republic, and several nations of the Central Defence Initiative. As recently as early January, Estovnian Supreme Leader Virtanen has decreed that all foreign nationals residing within Estovnia holding citizenship in any nation participating in the CDI are to be removed from the nation or face charges of espionage. While this act does not include ambassadorial staff, the government is allowing what appears to be reasonable time for the effected persons to leave the nation, and even appears to be offering some compensation for the displaced, it is still a move sure to cause concern in national capitals around the world.

More provocative, however, is the recent announcement Department of Navy that it will be deploying military assets to areas to areas considered key to securing Estovnia's ties to its RCO allies, including deploying a small naval task force to the Bay of Ionia, the area of a recent flash point between Niedmar and Rodarion as both nations sought control of the Iovian Rise. In addition, the nations naval aviation forces have announced plans to begin aggressive flights utilizing high speed, nuclear capable bomber aircraft towards CDI-aligned nations, primarily the Kingdom of Belfras. According to the release from the Estovnian Department of the Navy, these flights will be directed towards the Belfrasian territories of Laesico and Viljland, as well as the Belhavian-owned Ross Archipelagos; only several thousand kilometers off the northern coast of Skandera. Lastly, according to a press release from Ystnyska Statynakrysten, Estovnia's primarily news agency, the Estovnian State Security Agency has issued "bounties" upon government officials of Belhavian, Arthuristan and Belfras.

"I do not know why Estovnia has engaged in such a reckless course of action." the Emperador stated "but I do know that these blatantly aggressive actions can only lead to death and destruction. The Cold War may be over, but many remember the grip of terror it held on the population of Pardes. Let us not revisit those trying times; not us not walk back towards the abyss whose precipice we have only so recently descended from. I implore Supreme Leader Virtanen and the Estovnian government to reconsider these actions and to weigh the possible ramifications that could follow."

Relations between Estovnia and Temuair chilled noticeably following the nations socialist revolution in the 1940's, and even more so when the nation entered the Otterup Pact, the de facto alliance of communist nations in Pardes, nominally led by the Democratic Socialist Republic of Anikatia. Though relations have warmed over the last two decades, with currently cultural exchange programs and cooperation agreements having been established, these military moves could possibly threaten the this progress.

The Emperador also commented on a deceleration issued by the Rodarian government declaring that the Central Defence Initiative represented a grave security concern to the Papal Republic. "Just last November, Consul Civitarese visited Provisa, the capital of the Belhavian Empire, met with President Goldman and discussed a multitude of global issues. Just this past December, I had the pleasure of meeting with Consul Civitarese, as well as His Holiness Pope Constantine. Both are rational, reasonable and educated men, both known that the world we live in is one of intertwined political and economic activity, and both know that peace must prevail, or everything we have strived for will have been for naught. I respect the Papal Republic's right to enforce its sovereignty and protect their interests., likewise, I respect the nations of the CDI, Belhavia, Belfras, and the others, right to enforce their sovereignty and protected their interests. I only hope that it will be done without needless posturing. The current situation in Torchland is a prime example of how we must all hang together, or the things we have worked so hard to achieve will surely fall apart. I gladly offer the services of my office and my nation, a neutral party, to mediate any disputes rebutting between these great nations.

Emperador Avila stressed that there will be no military actions regarding any of the international happens addressed in his speech. "Words, not weapons, will win the day on the international stage." he explained. "I have no desire to exacerbate an already volatile situation." When asked if he would support any form of economic sanction against Rodarian or Estovnia, the Emperador declined comment.

Both Consul Ottavio Civitarese and Foreign Minister Pietro Ciano have called for calm and dismissed Belhavian anger and concerns by claiming the CDI as an institution to be the threat.

18 January 2016, 18.11pm | Written by Mario Cesario

Foreign Minister Pietro Ciano has formally called for calm as tensions between Estovnia and the Central Defence Initiative took a deadly turn yesterday. The Estovnian government has announced naval bomber flights across the Central Ocean in support of its RCO allies, which has prompted a response from Belfras. Estovnian plans to fly naval bombers "dangerously close" to CDI airspace and Belfras' imposition of exclusion zones has been decried by Minister Ciano as a "new dangerous phase in RCO-CDI relations" calling for the "individual acts of individual memberstates to be reigned in".

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Foreign Minister Ciano confirmed that he had been in contact with his counterparts in both Estovnia and Belfras, urging for calm.

"I made contact with my colleagues in Niva and Isn Deslen this morning, calling for calm and discussion. What appears to be the case here is nothing more than grandstanding, but grandstanding that could escalate into violence and loss of life. This government will not attribute blame nor scorn on the one it perceives to be in the wrong, as both states operate within their sovereign rights, but it is paramount that actions be taken to avoid unwanted escalation" he said.

Foreign Minister Ciano also used the press conference to address the Belhavian response to the Papal Republic's recent security review publication, in which he apologetically explained Belhavia's position within it.
"I and the Consul understand Provisa's obvious disquiet over this publication, but they should understand that this review was taken very seriously and Belhavia's addition was done through unfortunate necessity. Due to the legal obligations of alliances, the CDI especially, countries such as Belhavia and Eagleland, which enjoy very close relations to the Papal Republic are obliged to assist their CDI counterparts, who are openly engaged in undermining Rodarian interests in Lusankya and elsewhere, this alone is why Belhavia was included along with the offending powers.

"Even though this is the case, the Rodarian government will not take this report literally, our attitudes towards Provisa have not changed, our hope and sole aim to further expand ties has not change nor will it change, I am sure that if the Belhavians themselves were to address the security threat posed by the RCO as a whole entity through its legal obligations, then the Papal Republic would be included. We hope that this unfortunate situation will be overcome and Provisa will be willing to continue working towards a better and harmonious relationship with the Papal Republic" he said.

Many in the Senate did reportedly complain to the Foreign Ministry the unilateral approach the security document took. According to anonymous NCP Senators, many "were deeply concerned that CDI powers like Belhavia and Eagleland being declared security threats would be counter-productive", whilst others were concerned that "declaring them such, would actually make them in reality". Even within Consul Ottavio Civitarese's cabinet, there were concerns, according to a senior cabinet aide, three ministers lodged concerns with Foreign Minister Ciano the day the report was published, whilst unconfirmed reports indicate that even Cardinal Secretary of State Tiberio Candreva issued his worries to the Foreign Ministry.

For his own part, Consul Civitarese speaking on Good Morning Rodarion, this morning said, "the threat is not Belhavia, it is the institution of the CDI, the institution as a whole is a threat because it demands the support of memberstates for one another, legally speaking, the Belhavian government is obliged to support Belfras, which is a threat to our security and interests, especially in relation to the dangerous situation in Torchland and other areas of central Lusankya, I apologise to President Goldman and the Belhavian nation for this, but it is the institution at fault here".

Yet Foreign Minister Ciano focused much of his discussion with the press on matters relating to Estovnia, the Foreign Minister did express deep concern over the matter of bounties being placed upon sovereign heads of state.

"His Holiness' government is however deeply concerned and distraught over the bounties being placed upon sovereign heads of state by the Estovnian government, I am obliged to inform our Estovnian allies that the Papal government does not recognise this as an act worthy of a member of the Romula Cooperation Organisation or an ally of the Papal Republic, we urge strongly that these bounties be voided, before any seriously damaging altercation occurs" he said.

Speaking further, the Foreign Minister called for calm in relation to the deployments of Estovnian military assets, "every state has the right to deploy its military vessels, aircraft or ground units in a manner it sees fit, but it should do so in a way that does not provide unnecessary provocation, whilst the Papal Republic welcomes an Estovnian presence in the Bay of Ionia as an act of support for the Papal Republic, military flights of bombers should never be committed in a manner that produces unwanted tensions and concerns, nor should threats be made by any side involving violent action. We urge both the CDI powers and Estovnia to pursue efforts to deescalate the current misconceptions or misunderstandings. Again, whilst both sides have the right to deploy military assets as they see fit, it should be done in a way that maintains international peace and harmony, for the sake of international peace and harmony" he said.

Whether the Estovnian government will heed the Papal Republic's concerns over the bounties is yet to be seen, but it would appear that the government is keen to see the latest tensions dissipate as quickly as possible, before certain governments use the situation for shows of strength or capability.

FM Megalos Decries "Ridiculous" Estovnian Actions
Megalos denounces that "unnecessarily violence-provoking" actions undertaken by the regime in Niva

FM Thanos Megalos at a interview for Alfjen News concerning the Estovnian actions Kavala Herald photo

Valtos, Valinor — Today during a sitdown interview with Alfjen News, a TV news and media broadcaster, Foreign Minister Thanos Megalos unilaterally denounced the Estovnian government's decision to expel all foreign nationals belonging to nations that are member-states within the Central Defense Initiative, which is estimated by domestic Estovnian authorities to be just over half a million individuals and to run up a multi-billion dollar ordeal, as the state began removing the individuals nearly a week ago, in what is sure to be a lengthy process.

The Foreign Minister was quick to state in his interview how the Estovnian actions were not based on any credible evidence, as the Supreme Leader Virtanen in Nive claimed that the action was being undertaken due to security concerns, though Megalos joked those concerns were caused by the Supreme Leader's actions. In response to these actions, for the last four days Megalos lobbied and now successfully oversaw the passage of emergency legislation that has expanded the allotted visa's for all nations that have nationals affected by this, in cause they wish to come to Valinor and to help accommodate their upheaval. In addition to the visa changes, the Ministry of Labor said it would begin setting up programs to help them either return home or find a job and acclimate to life within Valinor, including finding a residence or legal counsel to sue Estovnian in international court for personal damages or grievances.

In addition to the announcement from the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Defense officials and spokespersons also released a statement today following an Estovnian declaration, stating that it will began sending bombers on patrol runs to Belfrasian colonies in the Central Ocean and other CDI hubs, such as the Ross Islands, that briefly also joined the Foreign Ministry in "condemning this unwarranted provocative actions of the regime in Nive. The defense of our national lands and state soveriengty is paramount to all other mission objectives within this Ministry and therefore effective at 0300 this morning, the VAF will begin interdiction patrols around our islands in the Central Ocean that are apart of Normont Province, with the fighters covering an Air Defense Identification Zone that will extend 100 kilometers from Valinese shores. Any Estovnian or other hostile craft found within this ADIZ will be escorted by fighter jets out of the zone and back home. Any actions taken to deter these patrols, Valinese shipping or any Valinese national will result in a declaration of war upon Estovnia; we warn against reckless offensive action, violence is not necessary in our modern age."

The announcement of the ADIZ was realized as Baek FGR.3's, domestic Ay-05's, took to the skies just five minutes after the announcement to begin the patrol of the zone, and they were even joined by MyL-23's that are in service with the Valinese Air Force, the fifth generation fighter being among some of the most state-of-the-art equipment the VAF possess. There are rumors circulating that the surprising actions coming from Niva have caused a direct change to the annual Defense Review, which will be issued in the coming weeks here by the Minister of Defense; 2011's was the largest in history until 2014's broke that on funding levels so it is curious to see if the Armed Forces will continue to reap benefits as the Valinese economy grows or if Prime Minister Irenaeus keeps military funding conservative to encourage extended growth periods and to build up the kingdom's coffers.

BREAKING: Eaglelander Government Terminates Diplomatic Relations with Estovnia.
Estovnian Nationals without permanent residence to be deported within 48 hours; Eaglelander nationals urged to 'evacuate' Estovnia immediately; Eaglelander Government orders the Estovnian Embassy to be vacated within 48 hours.
22 January 2016 | By Maria Matselou (ENT)

Image
President Demou criticised the intervention in Albiya as "a reprehensible invasion" and Madrastan's assertiveness as "an alarm clock to the international community".

CONSTANTINOPLE, KCT — President Manto Demou released a statement tonight before a press conference in response to the Estovnian Government's treatment of CDI member state nationals, announcing a complete termination of diplomatic relations with Estovnia in direct response.

"Insignificant entities evicting citizens of CDI member states make for a most grotesque sight.", President Demou stated. "The right of Eaglelanders to travel to places across the world have been enroached by a state so eager for influence in their respective alliance, that they intend to incite a war between our countries. This is a war they will never get, for their masters will want to pull the leash on it, lest it gets killed in the fire."

"This does not mean, however, that what little relations we have had up to that point will mean that we will not respond appropriately. On the contrary, this nation is build on the doctrine of reciprocity and mutual exchange of ideas, material, and principally of views and options. As such, the Eaglelander Republic orders that any contact between our countries be terminated with immediate effect. We order and declare: all non-naturalised Estovnian Nationals, who are not permanent residents of this country, are to abandon this country within forty-eight hours. All Estovnian Diplomatic Staff are given forty-eight hours to vacate their property, and on the fitieth hour all property owned by the Estovnian Government will be confiscated. And any and all exchange students from Estovnia will be deported with immediate effect."

This very hard stance triggered a question on its harshness. Why not lesser action to begin with? The response of the President was decisive. "What lesser action can there be? Our saying "he who plays with the feces gets eaten by the hens" is an adequate response, I am afraid. "

Harsh as all those measures may be, the Eaglelander Government proceeded to the implementation of other means as well. Asset seizures for non-naturalised or non-permanent resident Estovnians, in a way similar to the treatment of such Ankaran nationals after the New Pontus War, will include all cash and non-cash wealth and assets of Estovnians who earned such wealth in the Eagleland, and any such businesses based in the country will be seized and see its leadership auctioned. This means that anyone else can seize ownership of the business or property by means of an auction. These measures are outlined at Law 405/1937, which explicitly describes the treatment of nationals from countries belligerent to the Eaglelander Republic, or have triggered an "equivalent response measure at the expense of Eaglelanders".

These measures, the Government say, are not directed towards the RCO. As Minister for Foreign Affairs Konstantinos Oikonomou states, "The enforcement of Law 405/1937 is explicitly, in this instance, directed at the Estovnian State, and not at RCO member states indiscriminately. We see no reason to resort to such easures, especially since nations such as the Papal Republic show incredible and highly commendable control of a rogue situation. However, those measures were provoked [by Estovnia] on our people and it's a disrespect [to our fellow Eaglelanders] not to proceed to such measures, as regrettable as that may be for thousands. The Eaglelander Republic is not going to stand idly by as miniscule national entities bully our allies."

On the issue of a lack of reaction of the Eaglelander Government towards the events in Torchland, asides from the condolences of the President towards the Belfrasian Ambassador's death, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs had the following to state.
"The [Federal] Government understands the particularities pertaining to the Torchlander Crisis, and the death of the Belfrasian Ambassador was of the highest of tragedies that befell on the land thus far. In spite of a lack of solidarity several years ago, the Eaglelander Government is, per the CDI Charter, willingly prepared to assist our allied [to the Eagleland] Belfrasian Nation, on condition that all diplomatic means are exhausted and that the Belfrasian Government refrains from excessive reactions."

"Under no circumstances should we expect the crisis to deflate, but we are not eagerly willing to cause a war, or for a war to be caused. In such circumstances we will not hesitate to exercise our capabilities as a CDI Member State, as, it must be noted that although relations with the Kingdom of Belfras have been challenged severely in the past, our obligations towards the CDI are not lifted. The Eaglelander Government will observe the situation and is willing to provide diplomatic means towards the effective resolution of this situation."

The Eagleland Armed Forces' Alert Level has not been raised, contrary to several internet rumours. However, travel advisories have been issued for Eaglelanders willing to travel to Torchland, and all Eaglelanders are strongly advised to avoid travel to Estovnia whatsoever.

Maria Matselou, our correspondent, has reported for ENT from Constantinople, KCT. This article has been edited by the Editorial Team of ENT.

Tarsas Urges Calm Amidst Rising Tensions

Image

Alrec Severeoth Nimirae urged calm to allies today in a speech from the Eternal City

Foreign Minister Count Alrec Severeoth Nimirae spoke today from the televised conference room in the Foreign Ministry urging officials across Pardes to exercise restraint. Speaking on the subject of the recent escalation of tensions prompted by Estovnia and Eagleland, the Minister urged national leaders across Pardes to consider the consequences of a major escalation of hostilities. "I am urging leaders across Pardes from President Goldman to Supreme Leader Virtanen to exercise calm restraint in this issue. While Estovnian actions have been rash, it would be far worse to escalate this crisis unnecessarily. We urge our fellow leaders to seek the peaceful response." He also spoke out strongly against the naval exclusion zones that Belhavia and Belfras declared, stating they were a blatant breach of World Council agreements regarding international waters. "Belfras and Belhavia have acted rashly and dangerously in creating exclusion zones. While I understand and empathize with their concerns, one cannot simply claim international waters whenever national security becomes a concern. I urge our friends in Belhavia and Belfras to reconsider such exclusion zones." The minister went onto say that exclusion zones cause conflicts to escalate simply as a principle.

Nimirae also had words to say to Estovnia, ally and friend of Tarsas. "While I understand their need for security, expelling foreign nationals was perhaps not an ideal way to go about achieving such a goal. The issue of placing bounties on international leaders is also a dangerous escalation. We urge Estovnia to rescind the bounties and cease deportation of foreign nationals." Though his words for Estovnia were light, the minister went on to speak out against Eagleland in typical Nimirae fashion. "As a direct result of this event, we have seen the fascist fools that run the Eagleland rear their head with another preposterous breach of conduct. Seizing private assets from people who had little to nothing to do with the Estovnian government's decision just proves what a fascist nanny state run by thieves and fools Eagleland has truly become. They can't win in open warfare so instead they enact tolls on innocent civilians. I pray that country sees how foolish its leaders are before its too late." Nimirae has been known to have a sharp tongue and is known for his grounded deference to the truth in diplomatic matters even through crass response.

Ministry of Cultural Integrity Cracks Down on Illegal Immigration
The Ministeria of Cultural Integrity announced soon after the conference that an Empire wide crackdown on illegal immigration would begin. The Ministry has loosened their grip on the borders progressively since 2008 as funding was directed to expansion and repair of the naval forces. This has resulted in colonies of illegal Dark Ones and Dim Ones living along border regions. A "Dim One" is any person with light brown to dark brown skin. The definition for a "Dark One" is any person with black skin, usually of Ashwize descent. The Ministry has already arrested and deported forty such illegal immigrants found along the border region with Seukutan as of today. Penalties for illegal immigrants that do not apply for refugee status have been steepened significantly for those who support and house illegals. Penalties for repeated captures, those illegals who have been captured multiple times, have also been increased.

The second major announcement by the Ministry was the opening of five Refugee Camps on the borders with Ankara and Seukutan as well as two near Marvius. The camps are to serve as holding sites for captured illegal immigrants and refugees while they are processed and await deportation. The Tarsan policy on immigration has been criticized by many in the free world and for its blatant segregation in banning people with black skin based solely on race. While the program is claimed to regulate immigration and preserve ancient Tarsan culture, which has flourished for two millennium, its perceived "racist undertones" have drawn significant criticism. It is unlikely critics will back down with these new measures introduced.

Federal Council Confirms Nuclear Weapons Program
Written by Samuel Cristobol, political columnist for Arkanian Daily

Image
The above image is a euphemism for what the Federal Council is saying to the West (maybe)

In the midst of growing international tension between the RCO and CDI, particularly after recent movements from Estovnia, it seems that the Federal Council has decided to throw its hat in the ring. Just moments ago, the Council released a statement confirming recent [local] speculation that the military has begun pursuing nuclear weapons. It's unclear how far along the project is, but just the mention of them may bring criticism and possibly sanctions. Who really gives a shit, though?

An anonymous military leader has stated that the purpose of the nuclear weapons is not to give the Republic first strike capabilities. Rather, the goal is to develop nuclear-tipped warheads for intermediate ballistic weapons and also cruise missiles, particularly the HS-91 Steora. Ideally, this would enhance the military's existing area-access denial abilities.

With rumors stirring that the Arkian Republic may seek admittance to the Skanderan Union, it remains to be seen how the alliance will respond to this. The Republic and its neighboring states have significant trade relations. In addition, it seems clear that this announcement is geared toward defending against possible movements by both CDI and RCO fleets nearby Arkian territorial waters. The Federal Council has been quoted before as questioning why either alliance needs to maintain any colonial presence in the island chains not far from the mainland. Will anyone actually end up giving a shit about anything that doesn't happen in Lusankya or Taveria? That remains to be seen.

Tarfet's NSFW Comments about President Demou Draw Left-Wing Criticism
Written by Andriia Vecer

Image
When referring to Eagelander President Demou, Councilmen Tarfet said "He'd tap that"

When Eagelander President Demou stirred the political pot recently, it was bound to spark a few responses. However, Councilmen Tarfet's remarks came as quite a surprise. When queried about her comments, he seemed to disregard any of the political context. Tarfet was quoted as saying, "I'm all for women's rights and stuff, but Demou is a MILF. Is she even married? Does she have kids? I don't care, I'd tap that ass. I mean, I can't even take what she says seriously. I legitimately feel guilty. I heard she said something about playing with feces, but shit I'd play with feces if I got a chance to smash that."

Women's rights groups in the Arkian Republic criticized the comments, but also admitted that it's hard to take the Eagelander president seriously. They didn't condone the comments regardless, as they claim it encourages a dialogue that demeans women. Tarfet has since issued an apology to these groups, but he noticeably left out an apology to the Eaglelander Head of State.

Hens Have Come Home to Roost; or, Wait, What did They Say? Everything you Need to Know about Eaglelands Newest Decree.
Lars Uslovik
Translated by Einar Heidensheim

Image
Thorfast Buurrbonmisson blows a kiss goodbye to the rights of the Estovnians people

In what is being called "A state of affairs filled with ridiculousness ", the Government of the "Republic" of Eagleland has declared that all citizens of Estovnia residing in Eagleland, who have not gained permanent resident status, are to vacate the country within 48 hours after the official decree by the Eagleland government. These includes students, migrant workers, and those on any sort of luxury visit; many of whom will almost certainly not hope to be able to depart the nation in such short notice, even less so afford to do so.

In response to this, Thorfast Buurrbonmisson, the Dnieguan foreign minister, has announced they will be offering asylum to all Estovnian citizens and refugee status to any fleeing the inevitable stay in a Eaglelander prison, which are more akin to death camps according to Amnesty International.

"It would be hilarious, if it were not something said in 2016", embassy manager Klara Adelsköld told The Pioneer in a phone interview. "I have to worry for the common Estovnian in this situation. We dont know if they'll be hauled off to prison, or put in some sort of internment camp. Its truly insanity. We here at the embassy are doing all we can to get as many people home as we can. We're tying to contact as many university student support groups, temporary employment agencies and other localities as we can to get as many [Estovinians] out of the country as we can. Our embassy can only hold so many, but the government has promised its support."

Ms. Adelsköld indicated she was not at liberty to say how the government intended to aid what are now effectively refugees, but she did indicate help would come in a big way. "We have been in contact with nearby allies for assistance, and are receiving promising answers. We can really do a lot here."

When asked to comment on the reaction of the Estovnians, Ms. Adelsköld reported many of them were still in shock. "These people have to give it all up, everything they have-however little or much that might be. In effort to secure transit out, many have sold everything off and, unfortunately, paid scam artists who had promised them safe passage. Many have nothing left to give but the cloths off their back. Worse still, were already hearing reports of violence against the Estovnians."

Shortly after securing this information, the Dnieguan throne released a statement questioning the logic and motives behind the Eaglelands decision.

"If a nation is built on ' the doctrine of reciprocity and mutual exchange of ideas, material, and principally of views and options', perhaps it may be best to not expunge every citizen of another nation from yours as a result of the actions of a government", the Throne said.

In an additionally perplexing statement, President Manto Demous statement (highlighted) seems to have elected to use what can best be described as the worst idiom of all time, which resulted in a number of laughs from media at the press conference.

This joins the increasingly long list of political injustices committed by Eagleland in recent years, including, but not limited to, their prison systems, road signs, taxi driver laws, and, more seriously, Special Applications Unit of the Internal Security Directorate; one of four of Eaglelands basic Secret Police units. The majority of these, at a glance, would seem to an outsider to be a joke. Their taxi laws, for example, were clearly written by someone who experienced great personal anguish at the hands of what can be assumed to be a rouge element of Taxi Drivers, having such bizarrely restrictive laws as having to maintain redundant GPS tracking systems and limited operational ranges for each taxi.

"This is not a new thing. Eagleland has a positive track record for human rights about as well as laying in s**t has a good track record of making you smell appealing", said one Jarl at the press release. "Which is apparently something Eagleland is quite fond of?"

International response to the affair has not yet been widespread, save for Arkanias Councilmen Tarfet, who stated:
"I'm all for women's rights and stuff, but Demou is a MILF. Is she even married? Does she have kids? I don't care, I'd tap that ass. I mean, I can't even take what she says seriously. I legitimately feel guilty. I heard she said something about playing with feces, but shit I'd play with feces if I got a chance to smash that."

"Agreed", said the Jarl. "Shes smoking."

President Sui Anyi and President Morgan Tekere shake hands after signing a bilateral security agreement and trade deal worth $6.3 billion, Port Vaal, January 23, 2016
Source: Hae Eun-mi / ANTIYTIA MEDIA GROUP

ANTIYTIA, Anikatia — In an unprecedented move all major political parties have restructured in the wake of a political shakeup. After months of closed-door negotiations, President Sui Anyi has further cemented her rule. The creation of the new Anikatian Grand Unity Party (AGU). Which saw the tentative coalition government consisting of Party of Socialist Unity (PSU), United New Democratic Party (UNDP) and Liberal Party of Anikatia (LPA) merge into a new party.

The move was not met with universal approval with a number of members defecting from the PSU, UNDP and LPA into new parties. In response to the threat of this new party the major opposition party Anikatia United negotiated a merger of the minor Anikatian New Alliance (ANA). A party which split in from them after the loss of 2006 election to the UNDP. AUP and ANA have formed a new party to be called the United National Alliance (UNA). One notable defection came from the high ranking and highly controversial Minister for Finance Sarah Bergmann. Who left the Liberal party and government during the merger to join the opposition. She released a press statement saying “we failed to hold the left-wing elements to account. I didn't leave my party it left me as this new party which is little more than a socialist commune. Frankly I’m shocked and appalled my colleagues would consider this move at all”

Some member from the UNDP left to join the Greens in a new party called the Progressive Democratic Coalition (PDC). Defectors from the PSU left to join the Communist People’s Restoration Party (CPRP), which has restructured under the name the New Socialist Front (NSF). President Sui Anyi welcome the historic move which now gives her as head of the new AGU party a majority in both the upper and lower houses. The first time a single party has held a majority in the post-DSRA era. The President said, “Now instead of the anarchic state of affairs and instability that has held back our great nation. We can offer you harmony and stability and strength in the grand unity of this party. Welcoming people from all political backgrounds to reinvigorate this glorious nation of ours and to preserve our rich and unique cultural heritage.”

The new party does not appear to have a coherent ideology yet. Instead has embraced politicians and officials with a variety of political views who support the administration and at present. A new cabinet has not yet been announced. It appears as though that Do Eun-sook may keep her position as Prime Minister although no official statements have yet been released. Online there is wide speculation the Deputy PM will lose his position. Most of the current cabinet is expected to undergo a reshuffle.

The President Sui who was in Saarland conducting talks with President Morgan Tekere. Confirmed speculations by the signing of a bilateral security agreement and trade deal worth at least $6.3 billion. The deal would include an extensive military package that would help modernisation of Saarland military forces. Along with a renewal of a military base leasing agreement for Anikatian forces within Saarland. The two Presidents also discussed international issues such as the crisis in the Albiya and Madrastan’s admission into the Romula Cooperation Organisation (RCO). Sui and Tekere took the opportunity to announce Saarland’s ascension to full member of the Association for Regional Cooperation (ARC).

Regarding the crisis in Albiya government spokesperson Noe Eun-soo responded to statements by Tarsan Foreign Minister Alrec Severoth Nimirae. “I must say I am surprised that a Foreign Minister would listen to the gossip of the media quoting anonymous sources. I don’t think that type of discourse is very conducive towards improving relations. But I will say this, the Anikatian government does not support those wild claims made against Tarsas.” However, Noe expressed that the government found the reaction from the Tarsas side to be highly inappropriate disrespectful. As well as being ignorant of historical facts. “Anikatian has a rich culture stretching over four thousand years far predating Tarsas. Our culture has made significant contributions to the list of global inventions and innovations which have enriched the whole world. To suggest that the reprehensible and dark past of colonial imperialism. Conducted by Belfras, and the Ulthrannic Empires. We're in anyway some type of blessing to our nation or help advance our culture is to take an extraordinarily distorted view of history.”

The Anikatian government condemned such remarks in the strongest possible terms. Opposition representative Chung Seok-ho in the House of Assembly addressing the Tarsan remarks said. “For a government that purports to have maintained a consistent government for two thousand years. We find they lack finesse in understanding even the basic tenets diplomacy.” The Anikatian Foreign Ministry has reportedly summoned to the Tarsan ambassador for a "dressing down" over Foreign Minister's remarks. Despite the government attempts to calm the public views of the Tarsan Foreign Minister’s remarks. They have outraged the public with protests being held outside of the Tarsan embassy in Antiytia and in some other major cities. There have been public calls to boycott Tarsan products as well as demanding a public apology and resignations of the minister. The government officials have done their best to allay any animosity between the two nations.

Infact, on the recent issue of the Estovnian government’s actions. Foreign Minister Myeong Su-ji was in agreement with her Tarsan counterpart on this issue. As they both were in urging calm to all parties warning world leaders to refrain from actions that could escalate tensions. Whilst also expressing the deep concern over the provocative actions of the Estovinan government. Myeong stating that while we value the important relations and historical bond between our nations. “We don’t condone the actions of the Estovnian government. We urge them to reconsider their actions as they undermine global peace and stability.” She then commended the Papal Republic’s handling of the situation for its level-headed dialogue. Suggesting that some of its RCO partners particular could learn some statecraft from them. The Eaglelander move to end diplomatic ties raised questions which Myeong addressed stating. “While we understand the motive of the Eagleland government and they are fully within their rights to end ties. A move that will certainly send a strong message. But it is essentially a rather short term solution that may actually undermine efforts to reconcile relations in future.”

On the issue of Estovnian population within Eagleland. Myeong was emphatic in her criticism of providing given only 48 hours to leave the country. Agreeing with other global partners in suggesting the move could create a humanitarian crisis. The Foreign Minister has been in contact with Estovnia, Hornatyia, Eaglelander and Dnieguan Foreign Ministers to organise a peaceful return for the refugees. Myeong commended Foreign Minister Thorfast Buurrbonmisson generous offers of asylum. She made clear Anikatia was willing to lend its full support. Myeong offered the use of its military Ny-114 transports aircraft. Currently stationed in military bases in Hornatyia and Estonvian under leasing agreements. These would be able to airlift the refugee back to safety, Foreign Minister Myeong Su-ji has suggested they may extend this offer towards Central Defence Initiative (CDI) personal expatriated under the Estovnian government's order although this is subject to approval of the relevant parties.

The Anikatian government has issued a travel alert for all citizens. Urging them to reconsider all non-essential travel to Estovnia and exercise caution once in the country. Due to its strict restrictions placed on foreigners and very different laws. Beyond that, the government stopped short of suspending any diplomatic ties, trade or military agreements.

Regarding the crisis in Torchland, the government released a press statement condemning the attack and expressed profound regret at the loss of a Belfrasian Ambassador. Stating it was “a break of a fundamental principle of the international community. That diplomats and people on World Council missions should be protected and should be immune from this sort of senseless violence. They serve as peaceful means of conducting relations or resolving issues between two nations. Attacks against them strike at the heart of our global system and can never be justified under circumstances. We offer our heartfelt condolences on this tragic death.” Anikatia vowed it would work with partners in the World Council (WC) to help strengthen security for diplomats.

Speaking on issues closer to home spokesperson Noe Eun-soo expressed surprise at the confirmation of the Arkian Republic it’s nuclear weapons program and suggestion that it may be seeking admittance to the Skanderan Union (SU). Noe said “We would discourage such a moves which we feel would undermine the close ties and friendship between our two nations.”

Discussing matters in Skandera officials from the Foreign Ministry commended Temuair on a settling the conflict with the Treaty of Bedero. Despite the extreme pressures and risks faced at the conference, with over 10 people killed during a rebel attack. Government spokesperson Noe confirmed that it would be releasing frozen contracts between Anikatian businesses and Gratislavia. The deals were suspended because of the conflict would now restart with approval from the Alsing government. Helping to the region recovery and rebuild in the wake of a swift but brutal conflict.

President Demou Responds to International Criticism.
President rebuffs lies and slander by foreign governments.
23 January 2016 | By Maria Matselou (ENT)

Image
Ιn spite of international criticism, auctions of propeties of Estovnian Nationals, under Law 405, will continue.

CONSTANTINOPLE, KCT — President Manto Demou was interviewed by ENT based on yesterday's application of Law 405 on Estovnian nationals, after international criticism intensified.

"I find international criticism to our actions commendably asinine.", stated President Demou at an interview with ENT. "According to the Federal Census Directorate, a total number of 11,708 Estovnian Nationals reside and/or are present termoparily in the Eagleland, out of which 7,237 are confirmed permanent residents. This means that 4,471 persons are eligible for specialised sanctions under Law 405. This number of people cannot be described as a humanitarian crisis, as we have been able to manage the assimilation of millions of refugees from New Pontus, and the Eaglelander Government is perfectly capable of ensuring their humane return to their homeland. Besides, the number of Eaglelanders in Estovnia, which is estimated to be at 5,000, has had to go through a reign of terror. What would your governments do if your people were terrorised?"

As a comment towards the critique the Eaglelander Government received from a plethora of sources, she was harsh on her comments: "It is highly advised for nations unwilling to even sanction rapists and murderers, or too insignificant to exercise foreign policy, to refrain from personal attacks to my person, or to this nation. The Eaglelander Republic has an excellent human rights record, a robust and humane prison system, and the so-called 'taxi police' are lies designed to disincentivise tourism to the Eagleland - which has failed to take effect, as last year sevety-nine million tourists visited the Eagleland last year, an increase of 2.75% from 2014. I also doubt the Tarsan Legions would be able to defend territories thousands of kilometers away with an equal efficacy, so unless their forces prove otherwise they should avoid putting their money where their mouth is - it could prove damaging to their reputation."

Is such a simplistic application of Law 405 legal? Yes. According to legal expert Marina Thomaidi, "The unjustifiable terrorisation of Eaglelander Nationals by the Estovnian Government falls directly in the measures of equivalence required to trigger a response based on Law 405. The confiscation of property in this instance on natural persons subject to Law 405 is compatible with the right of legal ownership, provided that the belligerent state evicts Eaglelander Nationals from their national jurisdiction, or terrorises them into doing so. As such, provided that the Eaglelander Government provides a humane treatment of deportees, and finance flights to their home country, their treatment is legal."

As to the procedure to the followed, Ms. Thomaidi states that a specific process is followed. "Estovnian Nationals that fail to be evicted from the Eagleland within 48 hours will simply be evicted with the help of the Eaglelander Police. No prison sentences are given for overstaying in this instance. It should also be noted that Estovnian Prisoners within our prison systems must serve their full sentences in full; as diplomatic relations have been suspended, any bilateral treaties between the Eagleland and Estovnia are cancelled, including prisoner exchange treaties."

The move was not without criticism. The Eaglelander Labour Party is preparing a draft law to amend Law 405. "The Labour Party is of the idea that deportations should always be done with judicial authorisation, so Law 405, evidently a century behind, must be amended. The Labour Party will boycott those means and calls on Eaglelander Employers not to fire Estovnians who have not been naturalised or are staying here". Mass protests were also organised by the Labour Party to prevent the deportation of Estovnians under Law 405.

Maria Matselou, our correspondent, has reported for ENT from Constantinople, KCT. This article has been edited by the Editorial Team of ENT.

BREAKING NEWS: Deteriorating situation in Torchland causes more body-bags.
Controversy spiked in Torchland with the murder of a teenage boy found in the vicinity of Unity as well as the missing of four men. These events happened a few days after the murder of the Belfrasian ambassador to Torchland.

PICTURED: Body-bag dragged away to the nearest Fords Security Organization (FSO) forensics department facility in east Unity.

LSJ - Fords Security Organization (a private police force stationed in the north) confirmed findings of a body that was mortally wounded by a dagger knife - according to forensics "the throat was slit wide open and the chest-area was stabbed multiple times". The investigation is still ongoing, but the victim has been identified; Enrico Santini a 18-year-old male of Rodar-catholic descent was allegedly murdered in cold blood by gangsters. The FSO has great reason to believe that the homicide is linked to narcotics trafficking - (as the substances are legalized for personal use in the state since the 1999 Confederal hard-drugs liberalization act) - and many believe a link with the Rodarion Mafia.

On top of that four individuals are missing, reported to be last seen in East Unity - a region that encompasses counties with a significant Rodarian majority. One of the three individuals is reported to be a Viridian national, the rest are local residents of the north. The Viridian national is confirmed to be member of the Citizens Volunteer Guard. The CVG is a global neo-Citizenist organization and has links to Occidentian nationalist groups.

Chairman Walker condemned these attacks and gave his formal condolences to family and relatives. According to chairman Walker the perpetrators of the crimes are "horrendously cruel people" and that "they will be brought to justice." As both incidents are yet to be concluded and the perpetrators are yet to be found. “The probability of a politically motivated attack orchestrated by the UCF remains high.” According to the board.

UCF proposes talks to Torchlander government after securing public backing

Image

Giovanni Sabatelli (L) and UCF leader Pietro Cavallero (R) are expected to represent Carnaro at any talks with the government

The United Carnaro Front has formally requested talks with the Torchlander government after a petition calling for a referendum on Carnaro's reunification with the Papal Republic secured 380,000 signatures for it to be considered by the UCF, but as of today's request the petition had close to 850,000 signatures, giving the UCF according to its spokesman the "necessary support from the general public to pursue a referendum". Public opinion in recent weeks has continued to move in support of the UCF, following the murder of 18 year old Enrico Santini in a suspected racially motivated attack, has only further solidified the UCF's gains.

The UCF's chief spokesman, Matteo Fabula stated that, "with sufficient public backing in a formal petition, we are now confident we have a mandate to represent the people of Carnaro in our common effort to secure reunification with our Fatherland and to return to our cultural kin."

The petition which was first initiated online in early December was reportedly slow at gaining signatures at first, however the more prevalent the UCF became on regional television, radio and social media the more the population became aware of the UCF's aims by January 1 it had gained 275,350 signatures, by January 10 this had reached 380,133 signatures and finally, as of this morning the petition had reached 850,703 signatures. The UCF leadership agreed that 380,000 would be sufficient to pursue talks with the government, however reaching 850,000 has given them greater momentum. Even such, smaller groups have formally signed up to the UCF's Charter for Democratic Reunification, including the Popular Union of Teachers, the Grass Movement and the Farmer's Cooperative Union.

Speaking further "with the growing numbers of businesses, unions, movements and associations that are declaring their support for the Charter for Democratic Reunification, we can safely say that our aims and our cause is shared by many across the Carnaro region. Our dedication to securing reunification through democracy, free speech and open public debate is being embraced by more and more Carnarians every day" Mr Fabula said.
Mr Fabula explained that the UCF would now pursue discussions with the government about a referendum taking place by the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017, he also argued that any effort by the government to push the date beyond the start of 2017 would be seen as a delaying tactic and would not be accepted by the UCF.

"We want this referendum to take place as soon as possible, but with sufficient time for the necessary structures to be put in place to ensure the campaigning in the run up to the vote is open, free and fair. But we do not wish to this process be prolonged purposefully by the government, a swift conclusion to this process will benefit both sides, regardless of its result. We are hopeful that the government will be cooperative in discussions and accepting of the democratic wishes of the people" he said.

Yet the murder of 18 year old ethnic Rodarian, Enrico Santini in northern Carnaro has only exacerbated growing tensions in the region. NTV1's Leonardo Capri, who is currently in Carnaro covering the current developments noted in an extensive documentary for NTV1 news that despite the apparently cheerful atmosphere in Carnaro, underneath the surface tensions are bubbling up due to the government's lack of cooperation and growing citizenist activity in the north of the country. There is also the problem of more hardline groups who are advocating unilateral secession from Torchland.

The assassination of the Belfrasian ambassador to Torchland has also greatly worried a vast majority of Carnarians, although the Belfrasian's supposed belief that the UCF ordered the ambassador's murder has been completely rejected by both the UCF and the general public as "slander and dirty tricks"; to quote one pro-reunification regional newspaper, it has highlighted the level of establishment opposition to their cause.

What has also appeared in recent weeks is numerous opinion pieces, television interviews and online blogs from within Carnaro on why reunification has risen now and not before. Many both inside Carnaro and commentators elsewhere across the world have noted that with the dissolution of the Western Confederate States, the entity that many in Torchland felt an affinity for and were legitimately loyal vanished, the biggest push according to many commentaries is that the Market State that emerged after the collapse of the WCS was not what the majority of people in eastern Torchland anticipated, let alone considered worthy of government. Many ethnic Rodarians in Carnaro oppose the nature of the Market State system on ideological and religious grounds and this only further confounded a disillusionment of what it means to be a Torchlander.

Already popular culture has come out in support of reunification, numerous Carnarian music groups and individuals have produced songs calling for reunification, Cecilia, a popular pop-singer in Carnaro has reached number one in the region's charts with her song, 'La mia madrepatria mi chiama' (my motherland calls to me), whilst another popular singer, Luca Castello is a close second with his song, 'Mia Romula' (my Romula). What is interesting, according to Capri's documentary is that all of these efforts to advertise reunification has been done by ordinary people without pressure or assistance from political elites. It's being called an "informal bottom-up revolution" and with the UCF usually acting in response to public initiatives at the grass roots level, support for reunification appears to be certainly growing.

Despite the positive support of the population, UCF leaders have expressed serious caution in their expectations of talks, even if the government agrees to them. Giovanni Sabatelli, one of the senior UCF leaders spoke to Capri during his documentary, he was very clear on why the UCF is not overly optimistic.

"So far, the government hasn't been respectful of the fact that we have a growing support base, this petition says enough. But what the ordinary people of Carnaro are doing themselves, public debating reunification on the street, posting supportive messages on social media, starting up online pro-reunification groups and of course signing up to our Charter for Democratic Reunification, which has 1.3 million signatures.
"They don't seem to recognise this, so no I am not optimistic about talks, I am hopeful we make some progress. But even if they do happen, I am more than certain it will be difficult, especially if the government tries to use delaying tactics or doges the point of what we're trying to achieve here" he said.

Asked whether unilateral secession was an option, he replied that it was but it was a complete last resort.

"Unilateral secession is an option, but first we need to seriously have exhausted ourselves at negotiations, or have lost patience should the government continuously reject our invitations for talks or reject a referendum overall. But let us be serious for one moment, unilateral secession will result in very difficult situations and its a risky move most definitely, so for us it is a last resort" he replied.

The UCF is expecting a reply from the government in coming days, how the government responds will surely determine the nature of the referendum question indefinitely.

Hundreds of thousands of Gratislavs seek shelter in Riche
Minister of the Interior Anneliese Horn confirmed in testimony before the Peoples Council today that over five hundred thousand Gratislavs had crossed at Austrasian-controlled border crossings since King Roland declared any seeking shelter from the the Aisling-led invasion would be welcome in the country. Minister Horn faced tough questions from the Free Peoples Party, which has publicly opposed any "open-ended" arrangement which would allow Gratislavs to remain in the country indefinitely, but she was adamant that situation was under control and refugees claims were being processed "smoothly".

A spokesman for the Council of State has confirmed First Minister Sigenandus zu Eisenberg is currently conducting a closed-door negotiating session with members of the National Council of Labour & Industries Standing Committee. Informed sources have indicated the government is seeking the consent of labour unions for refugees to be put to work at reduced wages, a plan broadly supported by industry reps, while unions seek assurance refugees will not displace native workers. It is expected once a deal is struck with the Standing Committee it will be put to an emergency vote in the council at large.

Gendarmerie issues travel advisory for Aislings
A special bulletin has been issued advising Aislings "living, traveling or intending to travel in" Austrasia to cancel all non-essential travel plans and to exercise "exceptional caution" in and around city centers or in communities near the Gratislav border. The Commander of the Gendarmes has confirmed that there has been a "massive" spike in crimes targeting Aislings since refugees from Gratislavia began arriving in the country, including "assault, theft, sexual assault, rape and attempted murder" and that Aisling women in particular should "be vigilant of their surroundings". According to police intelligence the crimes have been the work of small organized groups composed mainly of Gratislavian men between the ages of 15 and 35 and that all available resources were being directed towards combating the threat to public order. There have also been reports of similar but more isolated attacks against Sieuxerran and Dnieugan nationals. There is not believed to be any elevated threat to Austrogoths.

Reichswehr still holds border crossings in Gratislavia
Reichswehr forces are still holding twelve major border crossings on the Austrasian-Gratislavian border. Reichswehr representatives have confirmed that Aisling and Aisling-backed troops have since taken up positions in the "vicinity" of most of the border crossings but have not acted to evict Austrasian troops or halt the movement of Gratislavs across the border. Since the three soldiers killed in shoot outs with Gratislavian border patrols at the outset of the occupation there have no further "deadly incidents".

Editorial: Is RCO trying to provoke a world crisis?
Well most in the Riche were focused on matters pressing and urgent the RCO once again announced its existence by provoking a crisis with the CDI. A highly provocative and apparently unprompted move by the Papal government to declare CDI a "national security threat", as if there was anyone on Pardes still unaware of the strategic competition between the alliances, proved a self-fulfilling prophecy as it ratcheted up tensions between old foes. Perhaps sensing the world at large was uncertain if this represented a genuine attempt at provocation or was simply the latest step in the inscrutable kabuki that passes as politics in the Papal dictatorship, marching orders were promptly issued to Estovnia's Supreme Exalted Leading Man to do what he does best: Flail his weaponry around incoherently. So done there is broad agreement among experts that there is indeed a CDI-RCO crisis brewing, though top minds continue to debate over what, why and if Eagleland is involved.

ANTIYTIA, Anikatia — President Sui Anyi hailed her party’s landslide election victory as a vote for stability and prosperity. After the historic merger of the political parties a snap parliamentary election was called to work out the composition of the new parties, with almost all the votes counted it seems clear that the Sui-led Anikatian Grand Unity Party (AGU) has received an overwhelming support of the voters becoming by far the biggest party in both the Legislative Council and House of Assembly. According to the Anikatia Central Election Commission, the Grand Unity Party has secured a margin of ninety-two seats in the House of Assembly, the United National Alliance (UNA) was the second largest party suffering a loss of eighty seats, next the Progressive Democratic Coalition (PDC) saw a loss of eight seats, while the New Socialist Front (NSF) lost a single seat, the number of independent members increased with an extra-parliamentary representative joining the House.

In the Legislative Council the Grand Unity Party gained only an extra of five seats, the United National Alliance (UNA) gained four seats, while the Progressive Democratic Coalition (PDC) lost six seats, the New Socialist Front (NSF) lost three seats, but the number of independent members increased with an extra two independent councillors winning seats. This means that currently the Anikatian Grand Unity Party can expect to have 312 representatives in the lower house, UNA 115, PDC 7, NSF 4, and the independent members may increase to 2. In the upper house, the Anikatian Grand Unity Party would look to have 146 councillors, UNA 73, PDC 17, NSF 8, and independent councillors could be as high as 6. The final official results are yet to be announced but it is unlikely that the situation will change dramatically. The President and chairman of the party, Sui Anyi, who cast her ballot early in the morning after flying in from Saarland, was asked at the polling station what she expected from the elections. "I hope for a good result for the Anikatian Grand Unity Party," she told journalists. Voter turnout varied depending on the region, with the Pyongtya traditionally being rather active, with citizens of Jinju Jedo, including Kasutano, having less enthusiasm for casting their ballots.

The overall voter turnout so far is estimated at 76.42 per cent, as announced by the Central Election Commission. This would appear to be higher than the 68.53 per cent turnout in the 2014 poll, although final figures are yet to be determined. Anikatian Grand Unity Party's lead comes as no surprise to anyone. Nevertheless, it’s predecessor the coalition government has often been subject to criticism for its inability to curb corruption or to narrow the growing wealth gap between the country’s richest and poorest, which has been increasing sharply since the end of the DSRA. However, the Grand Unity Party has hit back saying that it is a party of action and that its victory will restore balance to the country. The president stressed that the AGU is an efficient party which will take responsibility both for the economy and social care systems along with the safety of its citizens. “As a coalition government we’ve achieved a lot, but we’ve also had decisions that have not been fully implemented. Of course, we’ve made mistakes and we deserve criticism for them. But now with your vote, together we can in grand unity take decisive action.” she said.

President Sui Anyi announced that the party had selected a new Prime Minister with incumbent Do Eun-sook resigning over allegations of bribery. Nae Seong-ho was selected by the President because of his strong commitment to the new party and reputation as a skilled statesman. “I am honoured to take this position and to help the leading political power in the country, achieve great things with you the people. Together we can achieve so much with this majority the future of our nation looks secure and stable.” The new Prime Minister Nae said while also thanking the work of his predecessor, but assured the public that he would not deceive their trust. He committed to a bold and open government that would give faith back to the people.

Ma Woo-je from the Institute of Global Politics and Economic Relations believes the fracturing of the opposition parties after the shake up left them with little power to provide a decisive edge over the Grand Unity Party. The leading opposition party, the United National Alliance (UNA), has been unable to function effectively due to disruptive internal factional politics. The attempt by Anikatia United (AUP) to form a cohesive union with the minor Anikatian New Alliance (ANA) party failed to yield positive results. Despite the merging of a number of major parties, the opposition has been fractured and weakened by the move. The emergence of any new opposition parties would split the opposition vote further and may allow the ruling Anikatian Grand Unity Party to increase its majority. Which now already has the ability to pass bills unilaterally, and could even amend the constitution, by transforming the current four-year single term presidency to allow for multiple presidential terms or parliamentary reforms that favour the current ruling party.

Meanwhile, early results have left some voters angry. In the centre of Seulbyeni City, several thousand protesters gathered to express their discontent with the result of the parliamentary vote. Around 5,000 people came to a rally sanctioned by the Seulbyeni City authorities. Protesters chanted “Anikatia needs new elections,” “Anikatia without Sui,” “Revolution,” and “Shame.” Police did not intervene in the rally until several hundreds protesters took to neighboring streets. After the crowd attempted to attract attention by disrupting traffic, they faced a police cordons and hundreds were arrested.

A similar situation unfolded in Namju, where several thousand protesters rallied in favor of different opposition parties and against the way the election had been conducted. However in the capital, a pro-Anikatian Grand Unity Party rally which took place in central Antiytia passed off peacefully with thousands in attendance. Meanwhile, some international observers have spoken of fraud and widespread violations of election rules, while others have insisted any irregularities were insignificant, declared accusations unjustified, and maintained that the vote should be considered legitimate. President Sui Anyi has promised that any accusations of electoral fraud will be investigated and anyone found guilty of infringements prosecuted.

Sui rigged this election! so much for the hopes of democracy in the Far East. In reality, Anikatia now is not much better than the DSRA and thats why so many Anikatians are fleeing their country and spewing into the United Republic, Arthurista, Belhavia etc.

Belhavia "Welcomes" Rodarian Clarification on Defense Review, FM Nobelstein Says

Goldman administration proceeds with continued bilateralism after Rodarian clarification as political opposition grows at home.
January 13th, 2016| By Elazar Cohen (ecohen@aij.org) (AIJ) | 1:21pm EDT

PROVISA, BELHAVIA — After a day of confusion and panic, the longstanding Rodar-Belhavian relationship "is just fine," Imperial Foreign Minister Daniel Nobelstein told reporters this afternoon, a day after Rodarian Consul Civitarese and Foreign Minister Ciano sought to reassure Provisa of peaceful Rodarian intentions after a seemingly hostile implication against Rodar-Belhavian bilateralism in the PPR's labeling of the CDI a "national security threat" in its just released defense review, a move that caused uproar in the Goldman administration.

However, yesterday senior Papal leaders emphasized Rodarian policy differences between the CDI "as an institution" and robust and cordial bilateral relations between the two nations. "We welcome the Papal leadership's clarification on this matter," Nobelstein told gathered reporters today, "President Goldman assured our Rodarian counterparts that he was willing to hear if there was a misunderstanding or misperception in the stark terms presented in the [PRR's] 2015 defense review, and it appears that there has been. We are relieved that our nations' longstanding warm bilateral relations will continue, unabated."

He ducked when asked about whether Belhavia "accepted" Rodarion's view on the nuanced theory put forward by Romula, that the anti-CDI action was "as an institution" and not directed at individual member-states. Nobelstein hesitated, then replied, "[the Papal leadership] was apt, I think, to call our feelings on how they perceive the CDI as 'disquiet.' But we accept they feel that way." He declined several more inquiries further on the question.

He did, however, praise Tarsan Foreign Minister Count Alrec Severeoth Nimirae for his global call for calm, remarking, "[o]ur Tarsan friends have many a-time been a conduit for de-escalation, and we applaud them for it." He did note, however, that the Goldman administration disagreed with Civitas Tarsae's position on exclusion zones, commenting, "[w]e respectfully disagree on that, but friends disagree from time to time, we're in the CDI, they're in the RCO, yet our bilateral relations have never been better."

Rodarion Policy Roils 2016 Presidential Race As Parties Swap National Security and Foreign Policy Positions

In an unusual step towards potentially upending years of set policy ideals, the Tories and Lib Dems seem to be on the verge on swapping policy positions on Rodarion, a top foreign and national security issue. Since the early 2000s, with the return of the NCP government in Romula in 2002 and the creation of WECA a year prior, the Tories maintained a hawkish position on the Papal Republic. Goldman's predecessor and fellow Tory, Jeff Arnoth, used diplomacy and international bodies to pressure Rodarion on human rights, military aggressiveness, and the rise of far-right Catholic-linked terrorism. Even in Goldman's first term, the Conservative was willing to use shows of military force and World Council resolutions to disapprove and discourage certain Rodarian policies. However, most of his presidency has been characterized by warming bilateralism with Rodarion. In contrast, the Liberal Democrats often took a dovish position on Rodarion, emphasizing multilateralism to pressure the PRR and encouraging expanded trade with the Central Lusankyan power.

2016 Lib Dem frontrunner, Arkania Gov. Yitzchak Feinstein, has "out-Tory the Tories," one strategist explained, hitting Goldman as "weak" on Rodarion and emphasizing that he would be sufficiently tough and hawkish on Rodarion when it overstepped global norms. He also hit the President on "lack of global leadership and support to the CDI" in the Bogorian and the emerging Torchlander crises, alleging in a campaign rally in Dakos yesterday that "Goldman is allowing the rise of a power that will overthrow a global system that Belhavia sits atop; he sacrifices short-term bilateralism for long-term decline in face of an authoritarian, mixed-market international system of the future if its not arrested and stopped in its infancy."

The Tory frontrunner in the 2016 race, sitting Vice-President Jacob Grossman, a top Goldman advisor, has been forced into the unlikely position of defending Provisa's leniency on Rodarian expansionism abroad, undercutting the Conservative Party's usual strength as defense hawks and national security champions. Grossman put out a statement this morning, asserting that "Belhavia has a friend and partner in Rodarion, we may not always agree, but we can work together quite well on the global stage."

This has put the traditional base voters' instincts on the issue in confusion, with the hawkish Tory right wary of Rodarion warming to Feinstein while the dovish-diplomatic Lib Dem left coming to Goldman's defense and finding common cause with Grossman, an outspoken Tory conservative on most issues.

As one campaign operative put it, "This will be one heck of an election." The first primary provinces are set to vote in two weeks.

(File photo) Xoana Noela Navia, aged 21 is widely hated in Rodarion and Christendom for her prolific pornographic career

Aisling Porn Star, Xoana Noela Navia has been arrested in central Romula, after being caught giving oral sex to a man in an alley way close to the Luna Blu club at 08.43am this morning. Navia is widely hated within the Catholic world for her pornographic career and the banned adult film, "Cardinal Sin" which has a Church setting. She faces either three years in prison, or a $500,000 fine due to her financial wealth.

Navia, aged 21 arrived in Romula two days ago for a modelling event with Armada, the largest fashion house in Rodarion. According to statements made by her Rodarian entourage, she decided to celebrate her day's work at the Luna Blu dance club in central Romula; 1km south of the Vatican. Having arrived at the club at 10.00pm, she, her manager, two close friends who accompanied her and her entourage proceeded to drink and mingle with other patrons. At 01.25am, further statements reveal that Navia began talking to a gentlemen, now known to be 23 year old male model, Luca Cristofori. By 03.30am, both Navia and Cristofori were no longer spotted by either Navia's group or club staff. According to police statements, Navia was spotted down an alleyway some 300 meters away from the club engaging in oral sex with Cristofori.

The incident was reported to police who arrived after both had left the scene, police then entered the club after receiving a tip-off from an eye-witness that she and Cristofori had come from the club before leaving. Speaking to club staff they confirmed that a woman and man of their description was present throughout most of the evening, Navia's group was then interviewed by police, who confirmed the location of her residence.

Police arrived at the Grove Horizon Hotel in central Romula at 08.00am this morning, finding both Navia and Cristofori in her bedroom, she was then interviewed where she confirmed reports that she was at the club and had met Cristofori there, however she denied engaging in oral sex with him outside. Despite her denials, the police felt they had sufficient evidence present to arrest her and Cristofori.

According to other statements, at 08.46am as she and the police left the hotel lobby she tripped and attempted to run, before being tackled by a police officer, she responded with verbal abuse and xenophobic remarks, Cristofori also reportedly attempted to escape, head butting a police officer, he was struck several times by police batons and moved into a police van, whilst Navia was placed inside a police cruiser. Both were taken to the Santa Margareta Police Station for questioning, both have been charged for sexual perversion and public indecency.

Commander Gianfranco Caruso who gave a press statement earlier today explained, "due to the nationality issue, Miss Navia faces different sentences than Mr Cristofori, I can confirm that Mr Cristofori after being charged, faces up to five years imprisonment, if the justice system declares him guilty, whilst Miss Navia faces either two years imprisonment and or a $500,000 fine". He also explained that due to her high profile nature and foreign nationality, her case will be brought before a court much quicker than would be normally permitted.

Bail has been denied to both Navia and Cristofori, due to flight risk. We can confirm that Navia is being held in detention at the Sister Maria Amari Women's Institution in northern Romula, whilst Cristofori has been sent to the Romula Men's Detention Center in Ostia Mare. Commander Caruso also confirmed that Navia is receiving a state provided lawyer to represent her at court.

The court trial is set for Wednesday, with State Prosecutor Lorenzo Piccione presiding. State Prosecutor Lorenzo Piccione is renowned for presiding over celebrity court cases, including the trial of former baritone Michele Sforza, who was sentenced to death after he murdered his wife in 2004. The Ministry of Justice has reportedly placed a public viewing ban on the court case after the Union for a Just Society, the international Catholic pressure group, announced it would protest outside the Romula Municipal Courthouse during her trial, to demand her being sentenced to life for her "sexual deviancy". Several prominent senators have urged that charges of breaching the country's anti-pornography laws be brought against her, however the Ecclesiastical Prosecution Tribunal rejected these calls on the basis that those crimes were committed in Temuair and not Rodarion, therefore she is immune from prosecution on those specific charges.

Cristofori's trial is set for 10th February, he has reportedly requested the legal assistance of his own representative.

Xoana Navia has not made any comment, nor could her manager be reached to secure one at this time.

Aisling government to remain uninvolved in Xoana Navia arrest

Image
Image from the 2015 Onyx Awards

Dinsar – Astrid: Aisling Deputy Foreign Minister Antón Davila released a statement Tuesday morning confirming that the Aisling government would not be interfering with the recent arrest of Aisling subject and celebrity Xoana Noela Navia by police in Rodarion. According to the statement released by Deputy Minister Davila's office "the Aisling government has no desire to interfere in the execution of law within any sovereign state, even when an Aisling is involved, so long as they are tried in accordance with international standards of justice and the punishment is proportionate to the crime." The Deputy Foreign Minister went on to say "That is not to say we are abandoning her. Ambassador Coilean Freire is apprised and monitoring the situation and is in constant contact with his counterparts in Romula. Furthermore, several members of the Foreign Ministry are traveling to Rodarion to assist in ensuring that Ms. Navia's legal rights are upheld."

According to information obtained by the Aisling government through its embassy in Romula as well as gathered from various media sources, Xoana Navia was arrested by police who arrived at her hotel room at approximately 0800 hours on Monday. January 25th. According to reports, they were investigating a complaint lodged early that evening that implicated Navia and another man, identified as Luca Cristofori. Police reports indicate that Navia and Cristofori had met around 2200 hours at the Luna Blu club in downtown Romula, where Xoana was celebrating her completion of a photo shoot with Armanda, One of the largest fashion houses in Rodarion. Witness statements indicate that both parties were no longer in the club by 0330 hours. Romula Police were dispatched to the area around 0341 hours on a report of two individuals engaging in sexual acts in an alleyway. Although the police report indicates that call was cleared with nothing found, police arrived at Navia's suite at Grove Horizon Hotel early Monday morning and located both Navia and Cristofori inside. After questioning, police placed both people in custody for additional questioning. An incident report obtained by the Aisling embassy states that, while police were transporting Navia and Cristofori to their vehicles, Navia tripped, and attempted to flee from officers, though she was subdued quickly. As of 1700 hours on Monday, records show Navia as having been arrested and held without bond on the charges of sexual perversion and public indecency.

Navia has been appointed legal counsel by the Rodarian court, though her personal attorney, Antón Dorta, is reportedly attempted to make arrangements to travel to the Papal Republic to represent her. His office did not return calls for comments by he time this article was published.

Professor Alexandre Matey with the Gramail University of Law in Loures commented on the case. "The ensitre case is interesting. The call, placed around 0345 hours, has police responding to the scene and then clearing the call. This is followed by police arriving at Ms. Navia's hotel hours later and placing her and Mr. Cristofori under arrest. Generally, such misdemeanor crimes are not prosecuted with such diligence by any police force, indicating the officers of the Romula constabulary are either very efficient or were looking for any reason to prosecute this arrest. It will be interesting to see the States evidence for this trial."

Navia has had run ins with Rodarion and Romulăn Catholics before. In 2015 she stared in a pornographic film entitled Cardnial Sin" which heavily parodied the Romulăn Catholic Church. The film was banned in Rodarion , though this was unsurprising given the Papal Republics strict laws regarding pornography, but also created an uproar from the Catholic pressure group Union for a Just Society, who staged several protests outside of Navia's house.

The celebrity population of Fife is divided on the issue. Many celebrates within the industry expressed sadness at the situation, seeing it as nothing more than the Romulăn Catholic Church enforcing its moralistic views on others. Rodrigo Cibrán Orta, owner of Glimmer magazine, expressed concern for Navia, whom, according to entertainment tabloids such as Fate and StarLine, he has been courting since 2014. Orta stated he would donate any reasonable amount of money to her defense, though actress Caitlin Vieyra, Orta's estranged daughter, derided her fathers concern stating on her Shout! accounts that he "probably just wants to make sure he gets the movie rights. Prison porn is a thing isn't it? Disgusting."

Musician Casey Cahill, a devout Romulăn Catholic and member of UFAJS, praised the actions of the Rodarian government. "I know its not our place to judge our fellow man, but, maybe, now, she'll get the judgement she deserve. I wish that the UFAJS's calls for her life imprisonment could be seriously considered by the courts. The judges of Rodarian need to remember their Bible, Romulans 13:1 says "Let every person be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God." It follows that the laws of the courts would follow the will of the Lord and not the words of political treaties. The apostle Peter said in Acts 5:29, "We must obey God rather than men."

Actress Antía Vinal, Xoana's older sister declined comment for herself and on behalf of her family.

Xoana Navia is set to appear in court Wednesday morning.

General Superior Lays Out Future Goals
Written by Samuel Cristobol, political columnist for Arkanian Daily

Image
Future Force Projection Aims to Extend Arkian Influence

General Superior Maxxwell Cobb officially confirmed the existence of the military's naval modernization program: the Future Force Projection project. According to Cobb, the plan is to build on the navy's ongoing quest to modernize its surface and sub-surface combatants. Cobb stated, "Our goal is to have four operational amphibious assault ships with the appropriate escorts by 2025. We believe this is a realistic goal, and on top of our existing modernization programs this will extend our influence considerably."

When asked about the prospect of smaller aircraft carriers, the likes of which are employed by several nations throughout the globe, Cobb plainly ruled out that possibility. "If we had any desire to affect the happenings in Lusankya, then that would be on the table; but we don't really care what happens. Shipping lanes are a two-way route, and our trade out West is with countries that are more than capable of doing their share to protect both of our interests." In response to this, a reporter asked how far the military envisioned it could project itself. "Our goal is to be able to reach well into the South Akkadiyan Ocean region."

The project, although ambitious, is somewhat expected given the nature of the navy's rapid improvement. Through importing destroyers and frigates from the likes of Anikatia and Arthurista, the surface fleet has formed a formidable anti-submarine and anti-air surface. Coupled with the recent deployments of domestically-made SSNs, made with the help of Aisling nationals, the Grand Republic Navy is primed to be able to protect local interests.

BREAKING NEWS: Explosions, gunfire erupt at concert in Piet

Image

According to the press release offered by the Imperial Marshals Service, the Gratislavian rebel group known as the "Agrarian Socialist Party of Gratislavia" have claimed responsibility for the attack.

We have confirmed reports that Aisling actor and musician Iain Fontan is among the dead. Fontan and his band were attending the Revival for Gratislavia event and were scheduled to preform later in the evening. During the altercation, Lethal-T gained control of the microphone and began preforming series of a cappella rhymes, most of which contained controversial lyrics in support of the Gratislavian rebel movement. This action initiated a fight in the crowd, which rapidly spread to other stages and threatened to overwhelmed security personnel.

Officers had arrived on scene and begun efforts to bring the crowd to order when a large explosive device was detonated. Police reports confirm initial speculation that the explosive device was a homemade explosive device concealed inside of a box truck. As officers were attempting to recover from the explosions and direct civilians away from the area, several gunmen began firing into the crowd from the upper seating areas of the amphitheater. Though officers exchanged fire with the assailants, they superior position and covered allowed them to rain fire on the reeling crowd with devastating effect. Over 200 people were killed or wounded in the shooting, including multiple police officers. The arrival of additional units, including special reaction teams from the Corgarff County Sheriffs Office, forced the gunmen to retreat. Two of the gunmen were killed outside of the amphitheater by responding officers while attempting to flee the scene in a vehicle.

Officers attempted pursuit of the terrorists, and managed to track four of the estimated ten gunmen to a location off of NR-79 identified as Perci's Diner. As police closed in, the gunmen barricaded the entrances to the diner, and forced the seven people inside into the back room. They exchanged fire through the front windows with police, who surrounded the location. Though a Hostage Negotiation Tam from the Imperial Marshals Service attempted to contact the barricaded gunmen, negotiations were unsuccessful, and at 0315 hours, an Imperial Marshals Direct Action Team made a dynamic entry into the building in an attempt to rescue the hostages. During the brief gunfight, two of the four terrorists were killed, one wounded, and one subdued. Four of the entry team officers were also wounded, one of them critically, and another killed. Of the hostages, two sustained moderate injuries from non-lethal explosive device used in the rescue.
