Is the below post acceptable for the War-Games?
Camp Allenby - Northern Lubyak
25.3.12 - 1630hrs

Constable Jackson stared at his screen: for a week or-so old temporary camp, Allenby was causing the Military Police a helluva lot of problems - mostly the boring, anal, admin kind of problems - but boring, anal, admin problems which needed to be dealt with by the junior ranks. He sighed and looked out of the window in an attempt to get a break from collating things the Loggies couldn't be bothered to collate themselves - out side a duo of Pumas with flags on the front slowly drove around the corner to pull up outside the security centre. He sighed again and turned back to his work: probably some more bloody deployment records to be collated, as if they couldn't use a computer over at the...

"ROOM! ROOM 'SHUN!"

He shot his head up to look dead ahead, his arms thrust out, fists clenched on the desk surface. In the sudden silence, he heard the sound of the out side of the base, cut out as the door swung shut - "At ease gentlemen. This is just informal." Jackson subtly shifted in his chair so he could see the other side of the room - three officers had just entered, by their badges they were two Brigadiers and Major-General Wainright. As the three officers talked in hushed tones, the station Captain rushed up and saluted the trio before addressing them:
"Sirs, how may I help you?"
"At ease, Captain. Me and the Brigadiers are just taking an informal tour of the base, checking on things before the exercise begins tomorrow."
"Ah, jolly good: may I ask why you've come here?"
"Well, we were thinking of heading out to the T1 harbour, could you provide us with directions?"
"Ah, of course sir. Well, if you just come over here I can point it out to you. You just need to take a left at this junction then..."

A few minutes later, the trio of officers stepped out into the chilly afternoon air, walking smartly over to their vehicles, with the General's flag flying on the bonnets. The small convoy set off into the myriad of 'roads' which criss-crossed the base for 'ease of transportation'. Within moments they slowed to a halt as someone tried to do a 3-point turn in an SPG on the road ahead.
Looking out of the window, Wainright marveled at the camp which had been created in mere days: enough to hold an entire brigade, their support, fuel, supplies, armouries, landing pads etc. - and it was one of two! As he stared out, a squad of riflemen passed by, their weapons slung over their shoulders and chatting with each other as they navigated the mud and grass. Suddenly the vehicle jerked from its stand-still, and the Thunder-Bolt SPG trundled past on the other side of the road, its driver giving and receiving the finger from a wide range of vehicle crews and even the General's driver. Another few minutes and the pair of Pumas came to a halt in a small square surrounded by troop tents, and those covering the IFVs of 1st Battalion Armoured Infantry. As they dismounted, the command group of the Battalion ran across to meet them: "Sir, it's a pleasure to meet you."
"Like-wise, Colonel - I've heard good things about you. At ease gentlemen. I'm here to discuss the tactics for tomorrow: as you well know we will be launching our first offensive at..."

And this is by OrBat for the War Games.

ATTN Lubyak and GPH

Well, here's the Wargames, between me, Lubyak and GPH.

Though I'm not sure how this will accomplish what I think it is meant to.

After Vorradia is conquered and reformed by CoPs, I was thinking of joining the coalition, with a puppet nation.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but are there different applications to become an IC member or an OOC member?

Maybe thats utter crud,

but i think I remember reading that somewhere.
Vorradia. A place where freedom is a fading memory. At the heart of the sprawling, embattled province lies Imperial City. Or as the city is really called by the poor souls who inhabit it: Forsaken Hope. Here they suffer under a fanatically religious totalitarian regime. Outside the city walls lies a frozen and inhospitable wasteland. The people here live free from government control, but at a terrible price. They live in small nomadic communities, struggling to survive in the harsh climate.

Yup, one in the OP for the IC thread, one in this OP.

Yeah. OOC acceptance is based on RPing ability, and let's you RP in the CoPS only RPs that pop up every now and then.

IC acceptance is based on your nation's IC portrayal.

So a solid IC anti-Ponyist who could write well would stand a decent chance of being accepted OOCly, but none at all in a IC application.

Hi. I've been poking around here for a while and I'm thinking about applying, but I would like to ask whether it would be OK to create a puppet for this rather than transplant my existing nation in. I would rather keep them separate (as I use this account for other RPs), and I was thinking maybe I could have the puppet be the result of an experiment gone horribly wrong and transplanting an area about the size of a town from the "real world" to this RP, like Grantville in the 1632 series. The survivors wouldn't know (at first) that sentient talking ponies exist in this world.

Would this be all right (assuming the other aspects of my application are acceptable)?

You...don't really need to go to those lengths just to justify sentient talking ponies.

But yeah. Most of us (as far as I know) RP on the same massive planet that hosts most NS threads. Considering the size of the place, you might be able to pull off a "discovery" of the Pony Lands. You could even have your government hush up the event to keep it from your people if you like. You know, like in one of those amusing government conspiracy theories with aliens. Honestly, it doesn't matter that much to me personally as long as it's not a "We come in and kill all the ponies! LOLs!" idea.

Ah man, it's sentient versus sapient again. Shouldn't all reasonably intelligent animals (and plants, minerals, beings of pure energy, machines, etc.) be considered sentient, while sapient be generally reserved for any species reasonably capable of having a form of 'civilization'? Ponies would be sapient, while ponies (the RL, non civilized kind) would just be sentient.

Also, depending on technology stance, there's also the multiverse theory of reality, which may or may not work depending on tech level and how viable it would be for your nation to cross universes at their current tech level. It's generally better used with FT nations, rather than the more realistic MT, but its certainly possible.

It's more for me personally than anything else - I have a tough time being creative, especially if I get plopped down and someone just hands me a pen and says "Go write." I'd like to have a basis of reasoning about where I take something (i.e., A happened, which led to B, which could lead to C or D depending on E, F, and G...). It also makes sure I have the proper universe rules in my mind when I go write.

My thoughts exactly. Sapient for me essentially means they are at least as capable as humans.

Ah, glad to be of any assistance. I'm also glad you hate the ponycide stuff as much as I do. If it was done intelligently and realistically, I'd actually do something IC. Unfortunately, I haven't come across any that have done that...

Pah. The -cide threads as a whole never really change.

When I came here, it was all about slaves and nonhumans (particularly nekos for some strange reason). You had the WASO trying to free or bargain with the slave-traders, IASEN upholding slaver rights, OMSA moderating the whole thing, brushfire conflicts, Allanea declaring war on slavers, good times all around.

Most of the ponycide thread's are just bandwagoning onto the newest trend. Give it half a year and we'll all be arguing over the genocide of robots or whatnot, and barely week old nations'll be killing them all too.

"Sentience" pertains to feeling emotions and/or complex senses (pain, pleasure, etc.), while "sapience" describes things like self-awareness, ability to communicate using complex language conventions, perception and recognition of complex emotions (like love and hatred), etc. Ponies would be sapient, while a dog would be merely sentient.

I remember reading something along those lines about half a year ago.

Sentient/sapient artificial intelligences are indeed becoming a new trend, however.
