Fake Bombing Raid Conducted on New Sapienta Capital
Invasion Likely, Riots in Streets of Grandis
By Robert G. Harrington

Federal District of Tiberius, UFF In a recent statement, Federation Military Officials disclosed one of the first combat operations conducted by the Naval Strike Task Force sent to the coasts of New Sapienta. The operation involved 24 Harrier Fighter-Bombers from one of the several Aircraft Carriers in the Task Force. The operation according to Commandant Ryan Welsh of the Firestorm Amphibious Force was "Not to be aggressive, but demonstrative."

Commandant Welsh went on further to say that the mission was to deliver what are called, "Leaflet Canister Bombs". Inside each device, compressed air is used to disperse several thousand pieces of individual paper. Each paper contained a message addressed specifically to the citizens of New Sapienta which in summary asked them to urge their government not to fight a war but to return to the peace talks.

This is the first disclosed combat operation since the Task Force was put to sea less than a week ago following the events which took place in the Straits of Caldokeor. Rear Admiral Charles Watson of the 3rd Combat Carrier Wing, was laid to rest in the Fallen Heroes Cemetery on the day of Task Force departure. Rear Admiral Watson bravely sacrificed himself when he flew his F-35 fighter jet into the last nuclear warhead of 6, bound for Caldokeor. As previously released, the Nuclear Missile was launched by a New Sapienta submarine in the straits and was destroyed shortly after by UFF Naval Aircraft, Caldokeorn Helicopters, and a Naval Destroyer from Guruda.

While the likely hood of the invasion still remains uncertain as peace talks have broken down, the conducted operation seems to have been effective. Shortly after the "Raid", independent new sources in New Sapienta confirmed the outbreak of riots in the Capital City of Grandis, where the canister bombs were delivered. Most of the riots seem to be peaceful in nature, violence has occurred and was quickly subdued by local Law Enforcement and Militia. Independent sources also report that marshal law has been enacted by the government and that the possibility of local Rebel Groups attempting another uprise is higher. While uncertainty seems to rein over the current situation, Commandant Welsh further states, that No Ships or Aircraft were lost or damaged and that no sailors or airmen were lost or injured. Confidently Welsh said, "At the moment things are heavily in our favor."

The Rise of Gellert has only just begun

Image

ANKH MORPORK - The Party of Democratic Values, led by controversial politician David Gellert are gearing up to run for Parliament in the next federal election, which is not likely to happen for another two years unless Bacon's coalition collapses. Gellert has announced that the party will contest every provincial election from now onwards with the hope of competing for the vote at-large in the next Federal Election.

There are 14 provincial elections ahead in the next ten years. The PDV must win at least 5% of the seats in at least five of them. This would then allow them to contest the at-large proportional vote in the next Federal election.

The PDV are fresh off from winning 16% of the vote and seats in the Helitian provincial election and securing a deal to support a minority government of Jeremy Crawford and the Labour Party. In the simulatenous election in Malvornia, they won 7% despite entering the race late and doing relatively modest campaigning, instead benefitting from the attention drawn in Helitia.

The next provincial election will be in the province of Midland in early March, and the PDV have nearly completed the petition needed to begin contesting the vote. The most recent poll showed the PDV having 6% of the vote, enough to clear the 5% threshold.

A national poll showed the PDV polling 4% of the nationwide vote, which would not clear the final hurdle - the 5% threshold needed to enter the National Assembly. The Senate uses a two round system which traditionally does not favour right wing populists like the French National Front.

The PDV has been centered around the maverick and controversial political views of David Gellert, a controversial populist who calls for an immediate moratorium on non-EU immigration to the country. He has denounced the Pony Revolution of Hippostania as a "genocide", criticised Islam for being "violent and intolerant" and called hiphop a "brilliant argument against immigration". Due to several attempts on his life, Gellert lives under constant police protection with even more security than the President of ArghNeedAName.

Islas Filippinas is in terror as war continues between Dandaria and LINK.

In retaliation, General Arturo Luz has sent medics and military to aid the war frontliners Svaski and Klowr.

La Reyna moving toward the battlezone

At a press conference held yesterday he is quoted as saying, "[Islas Filippinas is] not prepared for a war." Trouble brews as schools start suspending classes. Even supermarkets are being ransacked. "Business is booming," exclaims Francisco Ley, CEO of the ubiquitous supermarket Mercador. Along with markets, chapels and churches are filling up with Isladores. Priests are happy that the war has ignited a new fervor of faith within the people. But is faith enough to save this nation? Only time will tell.

Wishful Players Awaiting Deliberations Image
Three lucky platers have been drafted to join the prestigious 2012 Pacitalian Open Championship. They are Tony Estanto for Male's Singles, Franco Ylmaz for Boy's Singles and Maria Aragon for Women's Singles. They are filled with anxiety and anticipation as they await the results. If they are to be accepted, they will board La Isla Airways and fly to Pacitalia and play for Islas Filippinas. All eyes are on our representatives! For those who wish to participate, registration is still ongoing.

Murder at the Field
After two days of extensive search, Bridgi Famalo is reported dead, her body found at the fields of El Capatagan. Her grieving parents demand that the killer be tried for murder of a minor. Currently, there are four suspects says police general Arturo Luz but declines to elaborate further. The funeral mass will be held at Capilya Monteyora for those who are interested to pay their respects.

BREAKING NEWS

www.abctv.ai/news/jasper_hill/777_glider (OOC: FAKE URL)
Tags: breaking, airplane, fire, jasper hill, crash, disaster, ainin
JASPER HILL-A Boeing 777 has caught fire near the city of Jasper Hill. According to Air Traffic Control, five minutes earlier, the co-pilot called and said that a small fire has started in the bathroom at the back of the plane. After two minutes, it was the pilot who called. He said that the fire had spread to Economy Class and yet another minute after, a 911 call by a passenger says that an engine has caught fire. The entire rear half of the airliner, which has been identified as Ainin Airways Flight 0015, is in flames. It has lost all engines and is slowly gliding towards Downtown Jasper Hill. Two F-16s from Jasper Hill South Air Force Base and the entire fleet of fighters (consisting of 9 F18s) of the Jasper Province Air National Guard were scrambled. They are currently following the flight and will probably have to shoot down the aircraft carrying 241 passengers. As a security precausion, all building with more than 5 floors in Downtown Jasper Hill are getting evacuated and Jasper Hill ATC has shut down all airspace over the province of Jasper and has cleared every single runway at Louis Bussy/Jasper Hill (LBJH) International Airport. The city police has cleared many green spaces and expressways to give the plane somewhere to land if it can't reach LBJH Airport This story would be funny if a giant piece of metal full of people wasn't going to crash in the next twenty minutes into a heavily-populated area.

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"Beige House has decided on a new maximum prison sentence."
"Following the repeal of the death penalty, many in the public called for a new limit on prison sentences, with varying ideas such as life, 45 or 21 years being thrown around throughout the media. After following majority decisions by the National Geniocratic Council, the House of Commons and the Senate, which were based partially on recent referendums, the new maximum limit on prison sentences is now 30 years. The decision was announced in a joint speech by the leaders of the three legislatures today, amid rumors and early reports that the legislatures had reached a decision."
"The 30 years were chosen as they complied with the Rome Statute, which stated that that was the minimum number of years a person who had committed crimes against humanities had to serve. However, it is expected that only a small percentage of criminals will actually serve more than 14 years, as this is the average sentence that judges have handed out."
"The Supreme Court voiced their support of this movement, stating that it "reflected the ideals of the TBRE to create a peaceful and crime-free society through methods of rehabilitation and not punishment.""
"The Persons of Danger act still holds, though, which states that should a person still be deemed dangerous to society even after their sentence has been served (a leader of a terrorist organization who shows no remorse and an intent to continue, for example), an additional 5 year sentence can be placed on them, and an indefinite number of such sentences can be applied with the Supreme Court's permission."
"In addition, it was also decided that all people who are currently serving sentences would continue to serve their old sentences, and the new sentences would take effect immediately."

CybusNews Evening Update

New Port Opened!

The newly constructed port of Pinehollow, is now open for trade, from all of Zanadou and the world! It was a massive undertaking, requiring 18 billion Imperial Euros, and 1 year, 3 months to construct! This titanic facility is similar to the Arcadian International Transportation Hub(AITH), but on a much, much smaller scale. The seaports facilities include 40 underground fuel storage banks, 2, docks with 10 piers each, 20 large stationary cranes, a Port Authority Structure, and 20 warehouses, which will be increased as demand grows. The airport section includes 5 control towers, 4 runways, 20 helipads, 40 large hangers, 60 small hangers(built by Cybus Industries, along with the terminals), and 3 terminals, with 100 gates each. A train station is in the works, but has not been approved as of yet. A small military outpost is being considered, but likewise has not been approved. Armstrong Construction , part of ViZion World Corporation, was employed to construct the port complex, with only the terminals, and small hangers constructed by Cybus Industries.  This new port shall receive trade from around the Empire, around Xanadou, and around the world. This is Jessica Holmes, signing off. Good Night Cybus1, and Good Night World.

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The government has announced the completion of a new area of Refugia."
"Refugia's, the specially administrative refugee province set aside for the purposes of refugees, buildings average around 15 years or older. In addition, the heightened activities by the Human First in the southern part of the region mean that the refugees are no longer safe within the older buildings."
"As a result of this, the government decided to build the MARK XI refugee camp buildings, which are designed to be open-area communes that make the most of living space but is still a defensible structure. This was done by inviting in the architects who designed the public housing schemes (and are therefore well practiced in making buildings that are safe, yet still have proficient living standards, as well as utilizing some of the same designs for public housing (albeit adopted for one or two story bungalows in the countryside rather than high-rise apartments in the city."
"The government began demolishing old barracks in 2009, temporarily relocating the refugees who lived in that area to other parts of Refugia, which is currently at around 54% capacity. Work finished today and the refugees were allowed back into their new living quarters."
"The government hopes that the buildings will be able to last for around 20 years before they need some repair and/or renovation. The buildings are made of per-fabricated concrete parts that are set deep into the walls, painted in a neutral beige color. Most are arranged in rectangles with a communal kitchen and washing facilities in the centre, surrounding which is open courtyard. The courtyard itself is also then surrounded by the living quarters themselves."
"The new buildings are set in the most vulnerable area of Refugia, near the south-eastern tip of the island where Human First has been known to operate."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The government has started an initiative program for restaurants on the use of shark fin soup."
"Shark fin soup is still considered a delicacy in parts of the TBRE such as the Panda-heavy immigration population of Grenatia province, despite movements by green groups against the use of shark fins, notably in a controversial viral video circulated around the TBRE on a mockumentary on bears getting parts ripped off by sharks, posing the questions to the audience: What would you feel if this was being done?"
"However, the government has been somewhat neutral on the affairs in recent years, partially for political reason but partially for the list of items on the agenda including the death penalty (abolished) and the restructuring of the economy (the solution: privatization). Now with most of these issues dealt with, the government has decided to take a stance on this."
With the Minister of the Environment declaring that such a trade is cruel and unnecessary, the government has launched an initiative program, offering restaurants a deep - almost 90% off the usual- tax discount for restaurants that revert to using imitation meat or other forms of shark fin alternatives. In addition, the government promises to subsidize all restaurants that follow such procedure, as well as other financial aid."
"Several restaurants have already declared their intentions to follow the government, and other groups have vowed to keep fighting for shark rights until the government bans shark fin soup outright. Critics, on the other hand, say such a drastic measure may result in a black trade that would be even more detrimental to the sharks."
"However, all people agree - this is a first step by the government in recent years."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"Yin Yang Construction Ltd, the nation's largest company that is based on construction and infrastructure, has declared that they have invented a new job: All Rounded Laborers."
"The all rounded laborers, or an ARL, job position was created by Yin Yang Construction Ltd in an effort to support the embattled government on the lack of people taking up manual and manufacturing jobs. Companies based in the TBRE had already started to outsource production to other countries not because of the cheaper labor costs but because of the lack of labor, and as a result the government has had to create a National Workforce where people sign up for low-paying jobs, albeit with benefits such as tax exemption and medical benefits."
"Yin Yang Construction hopes to get rid of the national workforce, as it is an organization mostly controlled by various worker unions who worry the workforce could be a possible infringement for their rights. As a result, the company has created the ARL, who would be trained in different roles (such as electrician, wielder and construction worker). This would a) mean that the demand for these people would go up, hence raising their wages, b) end the "stigma" against construction working being somewhat demeaning and not suitable for the skill set the education system implements, as the program will ensure that people would have a wide variety of jobs and c) mean that there would be less people needed to carry out the same number of tasks."
"However, some worry that the lack of ARLs would cause a greater demand for them, hence stressing them out more. For the time being, though, Ying Yang does not seem concerned about such a possibility, and the government has since voiced its support."

RIALTO FZ NEWS

International Edition with Aimee Loewe

"Good evening, it's Februrary 9th, 2220 and I'm Aimee Loewe."

"Today the largest air and space port in Frenequesta has just gotten bigger. The Secretary of Infrastructure Howard Geisel will cut the ribbon to a new terminal at LeMay Intergalactic, a cumulation of 3 years of planning and construction for a major expansion of an already burgeoning hub. Correspondent Madeline Yarborough has the story live from Neue Bayreuth."

(Cut to Yarborough)

"Yes Aimee, we have crowds of people waiting for the Secretary to dedicate and open the new terminal, and what a great sight it is. The building itself features new vendor spaces already rented out to businesses like TCD Pastries and Sagan Clothiers MiniKiosk, as well as spacious gates. This expansion has added sixteen new gates for additional flights between Bel-Gium, Waverley, and Montpellier, as well as allowing some new connections to places the Airport claims it has no idea at this time. The Secretary should be here any moment... and yes he is, he's waving to the crowd right now."

(Cut to Geisel)

"Thank you, thank you. On behalf of the Ministry of Infrastructure I am proud to announce that 3 years of input and requests have become fruitful. We understand that LeMay is the port of choice for tourists, domestic travelers, and businessmen alike, and we understand that it simply cannot remain that way without substantial expansion given the future of not just LeMay, but for Neue Bayreuth and Frenequesta themselves. Now that we have sixteen new gates we will see less delays and smoother flow of traffic. So now, with scissors in hand, I shall pass this on to the people of Frenequesta."

(cuts ribbon, crowd cheering)

(To Yarborough and Loewe)

"What a roar that is, Aimee. And it's no wonder, the State Aviation Board of Southern Frenequesta just two years ago had cited significant delays in traffic as more and more tourists come into Neue Bayreuth. Geisel himself, as you might remember, ran on a "ten minutes or less" platform to improve all flights going out of the nation's airports, and this LeMay expansion is seen as a significant development in making good on that promise."

"What about the other airports, are there any efforts to improve them?"

"Yes, in fact that has been a strong point of contention amongst some of the airport boards around the country. While the Ministry has said that findings had shown that LeMay was in the most dire need of improvement, the State Aviation Board of Kittgenstein has claimed that Drummer-Stark Intergalactic in Fox Dole Altar had equal or greater delays but got less funding for their improvements. There is a control tower renovation in the works for LeMay that hasn't been implemented yet, but the Kittgenstein Board is currently seeking an injunction of the renovation to review the findings of the Ministry."

"How is the progress of the Fox Dole Altar port?"

"Well the Ministry has approved funds for a runway repavement and an extentsion of the main terminal, and those projects are expected to be completed within six months. But the Kittgenstein Board has asserted that this was not enough given their traffic."

"Thanks for joining us, Madeline."

"You're welcome, Aimee."

(Cut to Loewe alone)

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Economy is currently engaged in re-establishing ties with the Holy Technocracy of New Amerik, with Secretary Vishton Smalls currently under hologram assignment to a special diplomatic meeting with the Universe 3 nation. Reports indicate that the assignment was impromptu and brought about when Denniston Observatory astronomer and television personality Oleyez Jupin 'called' him with his hologram displayer, however Smalls himself has said that he took the interruption with good humor. New Amerik had apparently been cut off from the rest of the universe for five years under what they call a "long fog" and are expecting to discover with the diplomats ranging from many countries to try to investigate the causes of the fog."

"This has been Rialto FZ News International Edition with Aimee Loewe, we wish you a good night with conscious enlightenment."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"Security was tight today as some Human First members were relocated from a holding base in Refugia to a rehabilitation facility following their arrest and trial."
"Around 12 former members of the Human First Party - whose message is technically legal, but most of their activities (including terrorism) are not - were transferred from the new military base in Refugia, where they have been held since December awaiting trial. "Most of them were sentencted to 18 years in a rehabilittation facility, and one was sentenced to 21 years as he was one of the leaders of the troop (an organization divison) of the Human First."
"The local garrison and the National Police were on hand to escort the members away from the island, escorted by police boats and elements of the navy, such as the Forkal class corvettes. When they arrived in Grenatia, they were escorted by police vehicles and armored cars to a new rehabilitation facility."
"The members, who have not been named, were deemed dangerous enough to be held in a medium security facility, where rights are somewhat more restricted than the usual rehabilitation facilities. For example, guards in such a facility must carry weapons with them at all times."
"Police were initially worried of a Human First attack on the convoy out of Refugia, and hence heavily armed the vehicles and the guards who were part of it. However, there were no signs today or from Teddy Intelligence that such an attack would occur."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The results have come back from an Independent Commission survey recently polling the citizens of the TBRE a simple question: should the TBRE remain neutral."
"The TBRE has traditionally been neutral, especially in domestic affairs considering the wide ranges of social, economic and political background our neighbors are in, but recent administrations have shown to be much more opinionated when it comes to international affairs, especially foreign interventions and joining international bodies like the International Union of Equality and Freedom and the International Criminal Police and Peacekeeping Organization. In addition, the Beige House has always been split over the matter, with the Teddy Communist Party and the Teddy Liberal Democratic Socialist Party wanting the TBRE to remain neutral, whereas the Teddy National Party (currently the largest party) and the Baren Party wish for the TBRE to "assert national status", "become an active player on the world stage" and "take a stand in affairs.""
"The administration asked the Independent Commission, the independent government body responsible for elections and such, to stage a referendum over the question: Should the TBRE remain neutral?"
"The results were split: around 49% of respondents believed that the TBRE should, whereas around 51% of respondents believed the TBRE should become more active on the world stage. The Commission also found out that around 79% of bears believed, however, intervention was necessary on humanitarian grounds. What exactly that entailed, respondents were split upon."
"What is certain is that this debate is likely to continue for a long time."

- HUMDEIA, WELSH COWBOY

There is word out of Humdeia that a car crash has killed three Welsh Cowboy airmen who were on their way into the city for vacation, after extended stays at bases in other parts of the country.

Humdeia Police Captain Aaron Lakes responded to reports of a collision on National Highway 2 about three miles outside of Humdeia city center, at 2:33 AM this morning.

He came upon the sight of a pickup truck and a small sedan compressed together, hood to hood, with the sedan bearing the lion's share of the damage.

Captain Lakes, a retired Navy special operations Corpsmen, saw three men inside the sedan, all wearing Air Force combat fatigues. He rushed to check on their status, but fund that all three were unresponsive. A few minutes later, paramedics arrived, to pronounce them dead.

Witnesses say the collision was caused by the pickup, who was driving towards New Laramie and moving northeast, who crossed the median and slammed into the sedan carrying the three airmen. The driver then reportedly fled the scene, but not before one witness had snapped a picture with her cell phone.

"I saw him fleeing," said waitress Nicole Redd, a 22-year old from Casper, a small suburb of Humdeia. "I just pulled out my cell phone and snapped a picture."

Authorities say that the suspect is a middle-aged Caucasian male, about 5'8" in height, with a thick beard, who was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Air Force officials did not release the names of the victims, but said that they were coming from a training center outside of New Laramie home for vacation.

They were all part of the quartermaster's corps, said an Air Force Major, who declined to be named.

The families have been notified, said the same official.

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"All three houses of the legislature have voted to repeal legislature number 1849, nicknamed the "Forced Blue Law" and implemented in 2001."
"The National Geniocratic Council, in particular, reversed its decision in September to keep No. 1849, due to the debates in the International Union of Equality and Freedom that such a legislature may be considered slavery. Today, the NGC declared that they did "make a bad move" and apologized."
"Implemented by the previous administration in 2001, in response to a disportionately large amount of people turning to white-collar/academically proficient jobs, the Employment Act no. 1849 states a person, from the age of 18-24, is eligible to be called up for the National Workforce, and presented with a low-paying job."
"However, those who voluntarily go up can choose between jobs, such as a sewage worker or construction worker, and all workers receive government benefits, such as a free lunch and tax benefits."
"The government said that the nation can now afford to go without No. 1849, as government and community incentive programs which host things from volunteer workgroups and multi-task jobs."
"All current members of the 1849 will continue until their term ends, after which the next rota will be cancelled, and the committee responsible disbanded by the Ministry of Finance."
"The government has offered to reimburse all members with T$6000 for their efforts and consideration."

NWP Leader Calls for Strikes

Official Transcript from "The Bradley Torrence Radio Show", WCBC Radio
Released 2:33 p.m.
12 February 2012

(Commercial break ends)

TORRENCE: Welcome back to the show, folks. Next up on the show, here is National Workers' Party leader and Senator, Mr. Tyron Barrett. Good afternoon, Mr. Barrett.

BARRETT: Great to be with you, Bradley.

TORRENCE: Now, Senator Barrett, yesterday, the Senate rejected the Fair Workers' Compensation Act, which would have established a minimum wage in almost all industries, by a vote of 120-77. Sir, what is your reaction?

BARRETT: Well, you see, Bradley, I think what we saw yesterday, was the National Democrats' and the Libertarians' refusal to accept basic rights for workers in this country. The bill, to inform your viewers, would have granted workers in dangerous industries, like coal mining, manufacturing, and certain farming jobs, a minimum of 4 waldoons an hour in wages. But we saw that the National Democrats and Libertarians absolutely refuse to put aside their ideological fantasies to help Welsh Cowboy's workers.

TORRENCE: But sir, the NDP and the Libertarians both say that the data backs up their beliefs. Unemployment is at 3.9%, sir, without a minimum wage. Businesses all over the country are thriving, both large ones and small "mom-and-pop" stores. How do you counter this?

BARRETT: I think that those numbers are correct, but that's because workers, the common men in this nation, have been hit and knocked down by their own politicians. They have been trodden on for too long by their employers. They need to take back this country.

TORRENCE: Sir, what are you advocating? Armed rebellion?

BARRETT: No, absolutely not, Bradley. Hear me out, okay? I am saying that workers need to show their oppressive rulers and employers that prosperity for some cannot repress them for long. It is crucial that the workers rise up and teach the employers a lesson by striking.

TORRENCE: So you are calling for a general strike?

BARRETT: Absolutely. The poor, common, worker in Welsh Cowboy isn't prosperous, even if he does have a job. They need more protections to ensure that every citizen can prosper, and have the chances that currently only business moguls can have. I think that a strike would wake every wealthy employer in this nation up to the fact that government cannot discriminate against workers, and expect their undivided loyalty. They must not be doormats for the rich and powerful.

TORRENCE: Sir, the poverty rate is below 3%. How can you say that the "common" man isn't prospering?

BARRETT: Look, Bradley. Here is my argument. The common man prospers by the official definition of "success." But look at the wealth disparity. It is positively atrocious to think that 20% of the nation makes 61% of the wealth.

TORRENCE: Yes, but you would agree that having wealthy people is necessary. They provide jobs, correct?

BARRETT: I can't argue there, but come on, we don't need super rich businessmen to rule the country with their checkbooks. We need workers to rule the country with their ballots.

TORRENCE: Obviously you are passionate about this issue. What is your next step?

BARRETT: Well, we will be reaffirming our commitment to the workers of Welsh Cowboy by submitting a new piece of legislation aimed at creating a labor disputes court. Hopefully by tomorrow. We will work for the workers of Welsh Cowboy.

TORRENCE: Thank you sir. We'll be back after another commercial break.

(Transcript ends)

Manic Monday: Strange Event Leaves 559 Dead

It was absolute chaos in downtown New Rodum, in the Rolando province on late Monday. Witnesses described it as something out of a science fiction movie, as they claim that a man in the financial district began engaging in a fight with the police. This may not sound so extraordinary, except for the fact that this man appeared to throw police officers, bystanders, and even vehicles with nothing but his mind as if they were toys to him. A witness, Michelle Mclangland, gave UPBC News an exclusive interview. Mclangland gave a description of the man as being in his mid to late 20s, dark hair, and having a large build. She also explained that she had been walking with her boyfriend, Ryan Lee, from the investment firm they both worked at, when the man of the hour first began his spree of destruction. Lee, in his own words, called the event "hell on earth". The couple barely escaped with their lives after dodging a city bus that had been hurled in their direction, missing them by mere inches. They both ran down a flight of stairs into a subway station to take cover, where dozens of others had done also. The ordeal lasted for about 20 minutes, with it finally ending with the mysterious man flying off into the distance. 714 in total are dead or missing. 47 of those are police and the rest are civilians.

This is a picture that Lee captured on his phone of cars being thrown.

The Ministry of Defense released a statement today, stating that the safety of the citizens of Unified Provinces was its top priority and that the military would do everything in its power to stop the being codenamed "Leviathan". President Maxwell Davies is scheduled to give an emergency State of the Union address tonight after this program. As a side note, the Davies Government has expressed that it has not left asking for assistance from the international community off the table.

A SWAT team moves in to try to take down "Leviathan" during the attack.

Former Pop Diva Attempts to make a Comeback

Pop star Brianna Spades rose to fame a decade ago, 2002, with her first hit single, "Love Me, Baby". She enjoyed a tremendous amount of fame until around a year ago when it was discovered that her voice had been altered in the studio during recording sessions, and that she lip-synched during live concerts. This had been suspected by some for a time. Her music sales hit rock bottom and even set an industry record for lowest music sales in history. Now, she's trying to return to fame with her latest album, "Lustful Lullaby". Experts do not expect much to happen, as her fall from grace is still fresh within the public's mind.

Technical Malfunction sours Military Parade
Image

Tuesday February 14, during a Military parade, Where thousands of patriotic citizens exercised the right to be loud, supportive and be generally merry, turned into a nightmare as at 16:10. Tank driver Sargent Zhen Xing lost control of her Type 99A1 MBT, sending the 60 Ton Metal Behemoth careening into the crowd, killing one and injuring ten. The Military openly apologized for the mishap, which is being blamed on a malfunction in the turning mechanism not driver incompetence as originally thought ." We are positive that this terrible accident was caused by a mechanical difficulty, We do not doubt that the driver(Zhen Xing) was adequately trained and fully capable of operating the vehicle"says Major Xiahou Qiong After making attempts to dodge Media attention."This should not raise doubts about the current condition of the Military either." An investigation is still in progress. The Military is offering compensation to victims. All injured persons are expected to be released by next week. Stay tuned for updates on this story later on.

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The government is considering building yet another pipeline from long-time-enemy-now-ally Natureland and the TBRE to have a more efficient of bringing in rubbish."
"Rubbish processing is one of the TBRE's largest industries, and rubbish accounts for the second largest import, after raw materials. In fact, the government once stated that The TBRE is well known - albeit with raised eyebrows - among the economic community for reusing rubbish in many innovative ways - for example, crushed plastic bottles make up 5% of the Roger Donald Ria's (the most popular car in the TBRE) skin. In addition, the TBRE offers nations a safer way of disposing of the so-called E-waste."
"The project would have a series of bridges and tunnels which lead from the southernmost part of Natureland to Grenatia, which is where most of the rubbish is processed."
"So far, most of the rubbish brought in is via container tankers. However, MINAHIK studies conclude that, even in the worse case scenario, the "refuse chute" as it has become to be known as is still much more environmentally friendly and cost-effective in the long run than the status quo."
"The government of the TBRE is currently working out a detailed plan with the government of Natureland, and construction may start in 2013 if approved."

“Greetings, you are now tuned to CybusNews Radio.”

“Good morning, planet Earth! This is your CybusNews wake-up call. Here is some of our latest overnight developments.

The town of Maplecrest suffered from a major explosion at an old Gentek plant on the edge of town last night. Although, nobody was harmed, the plant was leveled. Everyone in town is accounted for, but a melted blob of human flesh was discovered, as were 50 human skeletons. The bones, after testing, have been discovered to be thousands of years old, but traces of only recently burned flesh were still attached! Apparently, a gas canister leaked, and a spark detonated the fumes. It is still under investigation as to what might have caused that spark and why those bones are where they are. The pep rally at Maplecrest High has been cancelled, due to the fire department using the school as a staging area. In other news, the Police General for the Maplecrest Valley District has disappeared without a trace.

Today’s wake-up tune is “Lets go Sunning” by Eliza Wolf"…

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The TBRE celebrated Valentine's Day today in style."
"The Ministry of Welfare and Housing, responsible for marriage registration, announced today that marriage registration spiked by 20% today, and the number of people filing out documentation to state they were now a couple (which is separated from a married couple, and have slightly less benefits) jumped by 50%, with offices being asked to remain open until 9pm, and many Registry employees volunteering to work overtime. The government put a love heart on its website today, wishing everybody the best in their personal lives. The background also took a slightly pink tinge."
"Paper companies, such as Presidential Publishing, are also happy, having reported that card sales online alone generated around T$2 million."
"Many famous landmarks, such as Barenplatz and various ski mountains in the still-snowy province of Nordica were reportedly filled with people taking pictures having just gotten married today. Some artists, especially those who usually operate around the Arts center in the capital, went around helping people take free photos and also applied their artistic expertise, much to the delight of many. In some places, police were called in to monitor the situation in case of a sudden outbreak, but no arrests have been reported by the National Police."
"Several LGBT groups also staged protests today against countries that have banned the practice, the TBRE gave full rights to LGBT couples in 2002 with the incumbent administration."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"The movie world celebrated what has been called the "most anticipated film of early 2012 in the TBRE": Operation Endex, by Teddy Motion Pictures Company Ltd."
"Called Operation Endex, about a TBRE which is suddenly attacked by unknown forces, armed with NBRC weapons, and must implement doomsday procedures - or face the consequences of being completely wiped off the map. It has previously garnered controversy due to the original plot having the TBRE attacked by Natureland, but for legal reasons they were forced to change it to an unknown country."
"Critics have received the movie well, stating that the film was "moving", and the Toyland Times today rated Operation Endex a 95 out of 100 rating."
"It was released today with initial tickets amounting to T$1.95 million, just T$ 50 000 short of the highest opening box office record of the TBRE: W for Warco, a documentary on the influential Warco family in the TBRE."
"Featuring prestigious actor Markus Brenny playing the Minister of War, who must take split-second choices, there was another equally famous cast member, albeit for different reasons: HM President Palchensky has a total of 5 minutes of screen time, playing the part he has been doing since 2002 - the HM President. "
"The film was originally to run for three weeks, as is the norm, but most cinemas will keep the film until mid-March following popular demand."

DARCJJEW NEWS BROADCASTING CHANNEL (DNBC)
Anchor: Silvester Galleto

"Good evening everyone, this is DNBC. Our 2 exclusive reports for this evening are:"

"Valentines just got better."

"Ambassador Edwards in Aroukar for funeral."

"Yesterday, Valentines day, was a cheerful day in Darcjjew. But it got even better when the Senate recognized President Pudovkin's efforts, which brought the nation to the Top 10% In The World for Least Corrupt Governments and Top 10% In The World for Most Devout. Senate leader Gerald Johnson remarked that Pudovkin is 'doing spendidly' in terms of political work at home and abroad. They held a special party in the Capital yesterday, open to all.

In other news, Ambassador James Edwards is in Aroukar to visit the funeral of the Nation's late leader, King Casler III. King Casler died a few days earlier as a result of battle against the GLR. The funeral is being held in Aroukar, and the main service was broadcasted live earlier today, 10:30 AM, Aroukar time. The funeral boasted various delegates from different countries that had close bonds with Aroukar. Darcjjew's Honor Guard Regiment was also with Edwards at the main service to perform a gun salute, firing along with 2 of Darcjjew's gunships; DGS Agony and Vengeance. It is a day of sorrow in Aroukar today, and everyone there can agree on one thing; he will be missed."

"That's all for our evening report. This is Silvester Galleto, DNBC."

RIALTO FZ NEWS

International Edition with Aimee Loewe

"Good evening, it's February 15th, 2220 and I'm Aimee Loewe."

"Today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Economy has found that 32 ambassadors on the payroll were not actually doing their jobs, but not because of laziness. In fact only Tuesday did the last of those ambassadors come to the Ministry each saying that the nations at which they were stationed either underwent new regimes, or fell under great cataclysms they only narrowly survived. We turn to correspondent Mark Ward at Tristan Hall in Neue Bayreuth."

(Cut to Loewe, and Ward outside Tristan Hall, in different "boxes")

"Glad to see you, Aimee."

"So Mark, how long have these letters been coming in and why only now are the Ministry doing anything about it?"

(Ward alone)

"Well Aimee the Ministry has been getting letters like these for the past six months, the first one being from the Ambassador to Kosmanium Richard Murasaki-Boulez in September, and Ambassador to Green Port Roald G. Winkler in October. There were two in November, three in December, and suddenly eleven in January, and by that time the Ministry was already well at work reviewing all the payroll records to find ambassadors they have not heard from in years. In February more letters came in but by that time the Ministry could already predict which ones were going to come in. Today the Undersecretary of Diplomatic Missions Lewis Corwin had announced that it would be formally cutting off those 32 ambassadors from the official payroll under light of the letters coming in."

(Loewe and Ward)

"Now Mark there were 26 sending letters but 32 cut off. What about the extra six?"

(Ward alone)

"Those six were ambassadors that the Ministry had applied for an embassy in countries that continue to exist today but for one reason or another was never affirmed or rejected. Those too were cut off when it was revealed they were costing the Ministry a couple hundred thousand syncs."

(Loewe and Ward)

"So how much has the Ministry lost because of these delays?"

(Ward alone)

"About 30 million new syncs have been lost, but many have said that it is understandable given that many of the countries were very far away and thus difficult to get the NanoWires to pick up. However, some say that the Ministry should have already started looking when the NanoWire communications were cut off, especially since those communications are nearly instantaneous."

(Loewe and Ward)

"So I take it that those ambassadors are no longer part of the Ministry?"

(Ward alone)

"Not true, those ambassadors have to the contrary been moved up the list for potential ambassadors to new missions, and are nearly guaranteed new placements in the near future."

(Loewe and Ward)

"Ah, I see, well it was great having you here, Mark."

"My pleasure, Aimee."

(Loewe alone)

"The Popular Legislature continues to debate the proposed tariff boost today, with Frenequesta Pride Party Representative of West Jorgen June Washburn giving a speech to the full floor today claiming that 'a six percent rise on the wine tariff will not only keep Freneq wine in the hands of Freneq businessmen but will boost wine exports abroad'. Prosperity Party Representative of Coppland Fiblean Burris countered in an opposing speech that 'there is no need to be afraid of Kreanolthan wine' and that people shouldn't be penalized for 'having good taste'."

"The Freneq Ministry of Law has announced that it has appointed its second Pony to the national judiciary. The Urmanian-born Cedar Dance will fill in the seat of the late Glenn Rankin in the Second Original District covering the northern part of state of Coppland. The "earth" Pony had studied law and practiced for five years in her native country and came to Frenequesta two years ago where she quickly found work as a public defender for the city of Denniston. She gained a reputation as especially capable and competent, able to see past prosecutor's logical twists and persuasive to the jury, obtaining more "not guilty" verdicts for her defendants than her predecessor. Cedar Dance has said she is 'absolutely, no-fail delighted' to receive the appointment, hoping that a 'friendship and tolerance' jurisprudence she gained back in the Greater Pony Herd will lead Frenequesta to a 'happier place'."

"This has been Rialto FZ News International Edition with Aimee Loewe, we wish you a good night with conscious enlightenment."

"Welcome to the headline news of the hour of the Teddy Broadcasting Authority, International Channel."

"Today, a pack of Swepartres swarmed the capital of Toyland."
"The swarming started at around 9 am today, right in the middle of rush hour. Citizens driving to work were shocked to find not one but sixteen Swpartres running amok in the capital. It is believed that they originated from the wild hill areas of nearby Sophusland, and had somehow become stowaways on a ferry or walked through the tunnel."
"Police were notified around 5 minutes later, and arrived with local animal control officials from MINAHIK regional headquarters. Luring the Swepartres away with bait, the rounding up - which involved helicopters, squad cars and frantic rushes throughout downtown in order to catch the elusive beasts - took around an hour. Additional searches were carried out well into the afternoon by animal control." "No allergies or illnesses have been reported in relation to the Swpartres, nor any biting."
"The Swpartres were mainly operating in the Voston area of the city, although some did manage to make their way to Kingston highway." "People described them as merely "prowling about", although one did manage to enter a shop and run off with an apple."
"The Swepartre (classification: Tritylodontidae Strodeiuma), which has been described as a “furry legged snake with the head of a dragon”, is a loyal, semi-sapient common pet in the TBRE. There are two subspecies of the Tritylodontidae Strodeiuma: Dragonus, with a dragon shaped head with a longer snout, Rodunus, with a smaller snout."
