When I talk about vamp relationships a child is someone who was once human whereas a son or daughter is a pure blood (Robyn is a child of Rhoran)
Songri deserves to be taken as seriously as a heart attack suffered while piloting a zeppelin over a bacon factory. Which is the most serious of heart attacks, because if that zepplin crashes into that bacon factory, all of us will be without bacon.

And that simply will not do.

Following new legislation in Songri, the nation's diplomatic missives are now delivered via sniper rifle.

Out of interest, why the heavy use of Japanese weaponry?

I use Katana's because I personally believe they are the best designed sword in the world ( and in my opinion the best designed melee weapon in the world). As to the two Japanese spears, Heaven wanted Robyn to get a Jumonji Yari as a weapon. So those two got introduced so that she can actually learn how to use them.

Fair enough.

I personally go for a lot of European Medieval weaponry, as I think it looks a lot cooler. A lot more aesthetically pleasing to my eye, as I feel it is often a bit more functional.

Plus, I'm a bit of a fan of the more obscure pieces of kit out there, like the Dacian Falx. I like that one mainly 'cos I took part in some experimental archaeology to help determine likely tactics the Dacians used against the Roman infantry formations. Which was pretty sweet.

From my (quite limited) experience European weapons were designed around impact with the raw power of the weapon being the key element. As opposed to Oriental weapons which were often very precise and still powerful. (For example a Katana cuts just as well as a Broad sword, and is a lot easier to control and will last longer due to the single edge) I personally think weapons like that would be a Vampire's preference (speed, really fast and they have a long time to master it)

I'm similarly no expert, but it does come down to useage. A weapon like a knightly sword (apparently, "broadsword" actually refers to a type of single-edged, basket-hilted sword from the 1600s-1700s, not the stereotypical knight's weapon), especially towards the arse-end of the period when plate armour was coming to the fore, was usually used for stabbing, as there was no way it was going to get through the curved plate. Things like warhammers, axes etc were used instead, as they were designed to punch through the armour. There are some really cool skulls from the Battle of Towton which show neat square wounds from these weapons.

And there were a lot of Western martial arts, which have just died out due to the reliance on firearms. One involved the use of double-handed swords and no armour. Literally, the quick and the dead, as even a glancing blow is liable to take a limb with one of those fuckers.

One of the main differences really is general fighting styles. The Western European knight would have undoubtedly functioned poorly on the Japanese battlefield, and vice versa.

You have a point. I believe the katanas design is far more efficient than any other style of sword in the world. Japanese design also far exceeds that of European design. (In my opinion... I used to study this stuff so that was my conclusion.) I just like the Jumonji Yari because when I used to spar I'd use a weapon similar to it and found that the style that came with the weapon was very comfortable with me. I just like that style of fighting I guess and Ive always admired the design of the Jumonji Yari.

Before we drive things off-topic entirely again, I'd say that it is primarily down to the differences in fighting styles, especially the level of protection used by the knights. That shit was just proof to any edged weaponry by the late 1400s and early 1500s, so there was a move away from that and towards weaponry that had less of a surface area, so could concentrate the force involved a lot better. Hence halberds, maces and warhammers - the good shit :P

By "European", I presume we're essentially meaning "late Medieval Western Europe" by this, as there was a massive difference across the continent and across the centuries, as there presumably was in Japan (something I admittedly know little about).

Anything else I should know about their appearances?

In terms of height Rhoran is about 6'4" tall (2 meters) and has a very light build. I can't think of anything else that isn't in my introductory post, but if you need more information just TG me.

Okay, he's tall... Robyn's only like 5'8" or 5'9, which is actually reasonable for a woman, though somehow I imagine her to be smaller....

Huh, got to say I didn't remember the intro posts not mentioning anything about height or build, but looking back they don't.

Oh, well.

I was considering doing something like this earlier, but I really can't draw that well, so I think you'd be better at doing this sort of thing, anyway.

I've been kind of imagining Rhoran to have fairly sharp features, myself.
