Yetti's Star Conference

Postby Allanea » Tue Sep 08, 2009 1:24 am

Grand-Ambassador Simon Bander had reasons to be proud of himself. Within ten years after graduating from the Concord University's Department of Foreign Affairs, he had risen through the ranks to become the youngest Grand Ambassador in the Diplomatic Service, aged thirty-two. And the brilliant man had a mission to fit

Having done his thesis on the Raumreichi states, he had been dispatched now to Yetti's Star – a joint property of the Vernii – the long-time allies of the United States of Allanea – and the Liberated New Hope, a Raumreich nation with whom Allanea previously had practically no contact.

Even now, his ship was entering the system – an Allanean Punishment class destroyer. While it could, of course, pack considerable heat, alone it could not pose a serious threat to the Raumreichi – and besides, his arrival had been pre-scheduled and agreed upon.

As was the Allanean custom, their ship exited hyperdrive on the very outer rim of the system, so as not to cause undue alarm, and proceeded towards the planet.

Attention, Traffic Control, this is USS D-ZD-001, arriving as scheduled. We are carrying Grand-Ambassador Bander to participate in the Yetti's Star Conference. Please direct us to our proper landing or docking zone.

The typical response to Allanea's request might have been as such: "HA! Nice one. Who the hell is this?." But not today. Officials from the Bureau of State had arrived a few days prior, taking up residence in YComm's traffic directory, constabulary, utilities companies, all to insure that the Mafia's management of the system would not interfere with the conference.

"Welcome to Yetti's Star," read the newly recorded automated voice. "You are being directed to... The Palace Orbital Reception Center." Terms like 'docking bay' were a little too pedestrian for the Bureau of State. "A security detail awaits you... Grand Ambassador Bander... at the Center to escort you through the orbital, along with... Deputy Director Hallis Abdul... Have a great stay in Yetti's Star!" In return for YComm's cooperation, they get to keep the automated voice system.

Meanwhile, at the "Reception Center" in the Palace Orbital, Deputy Director Abdul waits with his body gaurd, Mr. Tibbs, and a small gang of assistants standing behind him. The security detail of OCO operatives hovers around, looking mostly inconspicious. Abdul knew the consequence of the conference--the Liberation rarely interacted with states outside of the Raumreich. It's presence on Mars had been the extent of its direct reach to the outside universe, ignoring indirect trade through the Verniians or non-national traders.

Docking clamps engaged.

Opening airlock.

Ready.

The metal doors slid open with an audible clang – one added in deliberately by the ship's sound system for an added 'first-impression' event. Simon Bander paced through to the Raumreichi station, his back straight, his face an expression of solemn dignity. He appeared a whole lot like a middle-aged Roman patrician – his hair grey, his face proud and calm - except wearing a dark-blue uniform and a wide-brimmed dark-blue hat. Only the gleam of gold buttons and the DoS symbol on the hat added a shine to the uniform itself.

Unlike the Raumreichi, the Allanean requires no bodyguard – this is a symbol of diplomatic trust. After all, should the Raumreichi decide to harm Bander, no amount of bodyguard could reasonably be expected to protect hi. He requires no secretary – implants hidden within his body allow him to remember vast quantities of information and to record the meeting without the need for assistants.

“Good day, your Honor.” - the Allanean is not sure how to properly address Hallis Abdul. Therefore, “Your Honor” - is chosen. It is always be better to be too polite than not polite enough. - “Good day. I must say, I am very impressed with the state of affairs here. My knowledge of the Oversector is theoretical purely – I have never visited before. I must say so far it is all even more beautiful than I have read.”

Despite it's relative simplicity—being made up of only two gas giants and a few moons orbiting a single star, Achilles did have a few things going for it aesthetically. Y1, around which almost all the orbitals of the system were placed, was a terrifically stormy green orb, translucent around the edges from such a low density (a property that, because of the occasional position of the sun had earned the planet the nickname “the Bean”).
The orbitals themselves might’ve taken away from the natural beauty, more resembling the Las Vegas strip. Abdul had only arrived in the system less than a week before and hadn’t had much time to soak in the sights and sounds. “Oh, yes. Well, the Raumreich is a large place indeed, full of beautiful and shabby things alike. Our car awaits us right outside.” As they approach the exit to the Center, Abdul lists off a few facts about the system.

“Yetti’s Star is actually an experimental economic area in the Collective Protectorates of Anayurt” (The official title of the nation, Anayurt being Homelander Arabic for “Homeland,” the term natives used for what is also refered to as The Liberation and Liberated New Hope). “Having few usable resources of its own, businessmen have invested into the system to turn it into a tourist and vacation haven for the southern Reich, entirely constructed and maintained within these orbitals. The Gaurdian, Darius, as well as the Congress have extended their patronage and allowed the system to remain tax-free for a limited, renewable contract time.”

Upon reaching the car, he had but a short time to get a feel for the Ambassador during the ride to the hotel—Abdul’s car being one of the few in the city, specifically procured for the occasion. Almost everyone on the orbitals of Achilles use public transport.
It would be at the Hotel that Abdul and the Grand Ambassador were greeted by the Verniians…

“Ah, I see. I have read about this experiment in reports, but as I see first-hand, it appears eminently successful,” - the Allanean answered.

During the ride itself, the Allanean was polite, making small talk about local conditions and the quality of the hotels and casinos around him. He took care not to inquire about any statistics and economic details – in part because a large amount of economic data had been already uploaded into his implants before his departure from Allanea, but more importantly, because he thought it impolite to have his counterpart think he was trying to sniff things out under the pretense of small talk, as spies sometimes do. Small talk, the Grand Ambassador determined, must be small talk.

As they traveled the orbital, he took care to admire its construction – which was truly breathtaking in scale and beauty. Allaneans do not favor grand habitats in space, and even on the ground, skyscrapers are not very popular with Allaneans – certainly few buildings on the scale of the orbitals exist in the nation. As such, it's not difficult to see why the Grand Ambassador's admiration for the work of the Raumreichii was genuine.

Awaiting them in the ornate lobby of the Alladin Hotel was Vice Minister of Trade Harold Prescott and a few of his assistants. He was average height, a bit pudgy with brown hair and a round face that broke into a broad grin as Abdul's car pulled up. "Ah, Mr. Abdul, and Ambassador Bander, I'm so glad you could join us. Mr. Abdul, I must extend my thanks to your government for allowing this conference to be located here, it is so good to get away from Cardona sometimes...the Alladin is such a great place, the maids are very pretty, and the casino is extravagant! The Liberation has always know how to have a good time..."

He turned to the ambassador, "I trust your trip was pleasant? I have been informed that this is your first visit to our sector, I sincerely hope that you will enjoy your stay with us. Yetti's Star is, in my opinion, a wonderful example of political and economic cooperation between the Liberation and the Imperium, a perfect place for our nations to welcome visitors."

“Oh indeed,” - the Allanean says - “I think the Liberation's citizens have done great, great work here. It's very interesting because it seems to me that their culture is similar to our own – the Allaneans, that is – in the sense that we, too, love to have a good time, but we don't focus as much on giant structures to do it in. Oh, there's the odd skyscraper or government building, but you'll find that the average Allanean building is a far less monumental than this. I think it goes to show that people with different cultures can resolve the same issues and find ways to satisfy the same needs that are distinctly different. The work done here is truly marvelous.”

“I am so very pleased to meet you, Mr. Prescott. I have read about your achievements.” - of course he had, it was part of his briefings .

-=Noah

Arizona Nova's far flung near-Sol possession, the Noah System, annexed from Capsule Corporation many centuries ago after the first dissolution of their holdings, not only sat "in spitting distance" from Sol itself, but also at the northern apex of the systems held to be the core territories of the enigmatic Raumreich. Theirs was a name known to the Arizona Novanians for ages, as a not-so-distant rumor.

Until today, that is.

Robert Kaiser, of the Diplomatic Corps, was on Noah on furlough. He was just starting to get settled in to the hotel there, when he got a call. Bringing the datapad to his ear, a familiar voice greeted his ears.

"Hello Robert, this is Cato."

"Sir," said Robert. "I just got here. What are you calling me for already?"

"Something immensely urgent," said Cato. "I've just been contacted by an Allanean liaison. They're opening talks with the Raumreich, and they have managed to get us an invite to the conference."

Robert face-palmed. He knew where this was going.

"There is a considerably bonus in this for you," said Cato, anticipating Robert's imminent protest. "Possibly promotion, if you play your cards right there. This is an immensely important assignment. I'm sure your commanders would have picked someone above you in station, but have optioned you because you are closest."

"And how am I getting there?" asked Robert in exasperation.

"We've already got an Inquisitor waiting," soothed Cato. "Get to the airport now, and get in orbit, before they pick someone else. That's my advice to you. Aside from that, enjoy your furlough."

The connection clicked off, and Robert cursed audibly. Sometimes he really hated Cato; he was the sort of digisape that really, he could only look as if he had your best interests at heart, but he managed to still do it in a way which was always profoundly annoying. Getting picked for something like this was a once-in-a-lifetime chance; success would mean virtual immortality. Robert snapped his briefcase back shut with a sigh, and headed to the lobby to check back out.

-=Ten Hours Later - At the Edge of Yetti's Star

The slim dagger profile of the Inquisitor slid out of hyperspace, and slowly advanced toward the Raumreich system. While her guns were capped, as befitted a diplomatic vessel, her defenses were live, and her sensors swept the space about warily but passively. They were leaning on what intelligence the Allaneans had wired them on the Raumreich oversector; and it was precious little. A general characterization of them as "wary, paranoid," was really the only thing of substance. This, and some archival information Robert had managed to unearth, that revealed Vernii had long ago been an ESUS member, was all he had to go on. Into this mystery, steamed Robert Kaiser on his Inquisitor. He nursed a bottle of cola in his quarters as he waited for the ship to make contact. Meanwhile, her commander sent forth the greeting message as prescribed by the Allaneans.

"Attention, Yetti's Star traffic control. this is Arizona Novanian State Ship Zweckdienlich. Requesting clearance to enter the system; we are here at the invitation of the Allaneans to attend a diplomatic conference."

Prescott nodded in agreement and smiled, "I am flattered, Ambassador, and wish I could say the same. Unfortunately, until now, my government has focused its attentions upon our sector and Sol-ward, leaving our knowledge of the civilizations bordering us to be rather lacking. It is a deficiency that we are attempting to rectify."

Waving his hand at his surroundings, Prescott continued, "Habitats such as these are becoming a common sight in the Raumreich. Their construction is one of the primary sources of revenue for Kiel Industrial Group, Vernii's largest industrial corporation. Over a billion Verniian citizens currently reside in KIG constructed habitats across the Imperium, and in the Wickian capital of Ticonderoga, house virtually the entire system population."

"Anyway, a conference room at this facility has been reserved for our use. It should be secure enough, our local hosts know that their business practices are tolerated so long as they don't give us sufficient reason to regulate this system's economy and government. Suites have also been rented for you and our other guests. I hope you don't mind Old Earth's Arabic aesthetic." With a grin at Mr. Abdul, he continued, "Liberation designers have found it fashionable recently to update Old Earth styles to modern times. I have found that the results can be surprising." Like those pastel suits that were in vogue the last time I was on True Hope, he politely kept the thought to himself.

The Allanean nodded. “I've read about KIG in the Architect's Annual Report. They're a very, very impressive company. In Allanea we haven't had this much a need for orbitals, mostly because we've tended to expand outward. After the original Capsule civil war we've seized two of their planets, and we went on to settle the Feanoring Stars – which is where I'm from, incidentally. Then there was the deal with the UTA – and so on, the point is, planets. Our people love them. However, the Liberation's architectural style is very nice. I've seen something like it practiced in Kahanistan, and some very remote parts of Allanea, as well.”

Yetti's Star Conference

Postby Liberated New Hope » Sun Sep 20, 2009 3:10 pm

Abdul actually owns several of those pastel suits, but left his at home. The Diplomatic Corp has banned their use among staff on assignment. Though a proper statesman of the Liberation cannot be kept out of style: he sports a 60's mod-ish black-on-black-on-white suit, shirt, and tie.

Waiting at the Reception Center for the Arizona Nova delegation is Abdul's second in command, Consul Danny Hiner--a New Hope-born European figure with his own staff. When the Delegation arrives he leads them to their car will they head to the Hotel.

Meanwhile, Abdul directs his guests. "Now, we've all had long mornings, I'm sure--or are the Allaneans in this sector in their evening hours about now?" Abdul allows himself a short chuckle. "The Arizona Nova delegation will be here shortly. Until then you are welcome to follow your attaches to your suites and get comfortable. I've secured a private room in the Club Sarjevo for 19:00 local time tonight for dinner and light conversation. Then tomorrow morning at 8:00 we will begin the conference in earnest. Do we have any questions, requests?"

“None at all, Sir. But perhaps a little thing – when the Novanian delegation is here, could someone kindly tell them where my suite is, should they wish to confer with me privately? Arizona Nova is a long-term strategic and economic partner of the United States of Allanea, and they might wish to consult with the representative of their old ally. I hope it would be not a great burden to have some assistant tell them where to find me.”

The Arizona Novanian shuttle, dispatched from the Zweckdienlich, set down gently. Its hatch opened, and out stepped Robert Kaiser, along with two of his aides. As he stepped off the shuttle, he took in the scenery around him; he was struck, immediately overall, of immense age, the sort of feeling one got when stepping into the old urban centers in Varanar, but more pronounced than that was the foreignness of it all; the loudness of the architecture, its age and its glamor. Perhaps it was simply the former diplomatic or cultural distance between Arizona Nova and the nations of the Raumreich, but stepping off the shuttle it struck Robert just how far from home he was.

Greeting Consul Hiner and his staff, the three Arizona Novanians allowed themselves to be lead to their transport and taken to the hotel. On the way over, Kaiser tried his best to make polite small talk with Hiner, asking about the architectural style and composition of the installation.

Enter the Wickians

Postby The WIck » Wed Sep 23, 2009 10:48 pm

“She left no suicide message except for a star map with the system of Yetti’s Star highlighted and the words ’Here will be Myrmidons’”
-News article commenting on the suicide of a veteran of the battle of Yetti’s Star

Twenty four blue spheres flickered brightly signaling the translation of a group of vessels’ completion of their transit from Erewohn to Yetti’s Star by the way of the wormhole network. At the center of the formation was the 82nd BatDiv, comprised of three dreadnought class warships, they were escorted by a divisions of gun slinging battle cruisers, with a screen of four heavy cruisers and eight destroyers and a wing of monitors. All together it represented a powerful task force of the Protectorate Navy but that is why it was sent to escort this mission.

Outside of the Inner Marches of the Raumreich and the powerful bastions of Alpha Centauri and Gregor, the Raumreich was not safe. To assume that it was would be to make oneself vulnerable to the ever present threat of pirates and brigands. This was a threat that could not be understated, pirate activity in this area of the Raumreich came in the flavor of ex-Solar Navy trained men complete with the warships of their former nation, that included dreadnoughts. Whenever a mission was launched outside of Protectorate space, it was given a significant escort as deterrence against an opportunistic pirate.

Besides deep down the commanders of the escort task force hoped that they would come across ex-Solar Navy units who escaped the surrender. With their being declared outlaws by the League of the Raumreich, they could be summarily executed and that was something that would bring a smile to any Wickians’ face.

The vessels of the Bat Div blinked their running lights in salute to the detachment of Imperium Navy warships guarded this end of the wormhole. Minutes later one of the small agile, Wolf-Class monitors moved into the system and would dock with the Orbital, to allow Edward “Eddie” Liu the Duke of Gervais to find his way to the Trade Conference.

+ + +

Eddie walked the “streets” of the orbital on his way to Club Sarjevo. The Seven and a half foot tall Wickian towered over the plebs of Yetti’s Star. There was a telling difference between this orbital and the ones back in Ticonderoga, the population density here even in the downtown areas was quite sparse, when compared to any Wickian habitat. It was the difference of a nation that had some citizens who choice to leave in space and of a nation whose entire population had no choice about it .

Eddie was large even when compared to the many Wickian ex-pats who comprised the numerous gangs and mafia families of this system. He was only outdone by the two body guards wearing un-powered armor behind him. A Wickian was a common sight on the Orbital, and no one even noticed that the man eyes were red, or the fact that he had not one hair follicle and that his skull was stripped with a random and intricate pattern of florescent green stripes. Wickians were not really human anymore and some nations considered them not to be close at all, but rather aliens.

His n-plant guided him into the casino and towards the back of the facility, where Club Sarjevo was located, it was in here it told him a private room waited, when the Duke reached the room he ordered his body guards to wait outside and then entered to see if the other representatives had arrived or whether he was the first.

"Well then!" Abdul declares. "Off we go to our rooms, and I'll have your message delivered to Arizona Nova's delegation immediately." One of his staff scutters off in the direction of a communications office.

It is at this point Abdul pairs off with his Verniian counterpart for a bit of elbow-rubbing. "Harold! If a man of the Liberation may call his Verniian counterpart by first name, that is." People of the Liberation seem to always use this excuse to sidestep formalities with Verniians--it is a wonder they don't get refused more often. "Would you care to meet me, say, an hour before dinner? I've seen your preliminary brief but I think if we coordinate a bit this whole thing might go smoother for our side of things--that and I think our new friends from the frontier seem to already be conspiring!" he jests. "I'll invite the Wickians, too... though I hope he isn't too droll."

OOC: The meeting I propose with Vernii and Wick will probably be handled in AIM chat/TGs. Whoever posts next is welcome to start dinner in the private room at Sarjevo.

Club Sarjevo, 19:00 Local Time

And so the Allanean appeared several hours later at Club Sarjevo. Still immaculately dressed – having, however, switched, to a fresh uniform in the same color and design as the previous one – he stood, smiling, at the doors of the private room.

“Good evening, gentlemen,” - he said - “I see this is the club Sarjevo. A very, very pleasant place. It competes favorably with many of the restaurants I've seen in my travels – and even those in Liberty-City. In fact, it's an excellent place and I will be sure to recommend it to my colleagues – if the food is to fit the place, that is.”

Robert walked slowly through the restaurant, taking in his surroundings. Coming to their room, he opened the door carefully and stepped in. Seeing the Allanean liaison, whom he recognized from the forwarded information Cato sent, he bowed slightly, and announced,

"Hello, fellow delegates of the Raumreich Oversector. I am Robert Kaiser, of the Arizona Novanian Diplomatic Corps."

Seating himself opposite of the Allanean, he continued, "But enough formalities. The official business will get taken care of tomorrow, yes? For tonight at least, we dine, and get acquainted with one another, no?"

Having gotten himself more comfortable in his surroundings (and having had a few drinks while talking things over with the Verniian delegate), Abdul was quite hospitable. "Yes, hello! Come, sit!" The room looked a bit more like a small home. Just to the right of the entry way was a sitting area with fine leather chairs, where Abdul sat. To the right was a full bar with, as Abdul would almost certainly mention later, booze expensive enough "we could've funded a small war with that money, but decided to spend it on peace instead!"

Further in was the actual dining area--a round table (it had to be changed out, Abdul demanded that no-one be allowed to sit at the head of a long table) made of actual carved oak imported from earth, set with china trimmed with gold, gold-plated flatware, and rounded with ornately-carved chairs. Despite the fact that many of the Liberation's Diplomatic Corps were trained to "tone things down," the Liberation was known as the land of Gawdy, as displayed by the overly-wide, somewhat ridiculous chandelier that hung over the table.

On the walls was painted an epic story of the native people of True Hope--their culture was in vogue despite that they had been nearly wiped out long ago before the New State was established. It began on the right of the door (facing it) and circled around the room, ending to the left of the door.

"Make yourselves a drink if you wish!"

The Allanean was truthfully impressed. The Allaneans were famous – in their circles – for gaudy decorations and expensive parties. These Liberated people were turning out to be as he expected them – men after his, and Allanea's, own heart. And there was drink, too – excellent drink, to compete with the best stuff to come out of Greater Prussia.

The Allanean nimbly poured himself a tall glass of something light and sparklin. This was looking like a good start.

"Indeed!" Abdul replied to his Nova counterpart. "Introductions are in order for our Wickian friend who has just arrived. Everyone, this is Duke Edward Liu of Gervais, of the Wick. As you might've noticed on your way in, Yetti's Star is home to many Wickian immigrants who have found a welcome home in the Collective."

"And here is [OOC: IC I would surely know his title but I can't find it in a post] Robert Kaiser of Arizona Nova. The colony Noah has been on the Southern Reich's doorstep for some time, though it's proximity to the old Ortagan Hegemony* before the collapse kept us all from being too friendly.

"Grand Ambassador Simon Bander of Allanea is the reason we are all here tonight. Without his tireless efforts, the nations of the Southern Reich would still be focused on eachother and Sol.

"And of course, our friend from the Verniian Imperium, Vice Minister of Trade Harold Prescott. I would like to personally thank him for his diligence in coordinating the conference, for allowing it to be held on Collective grounds, and for the Imperial Navy for protecting this system.

"I, of course, am Ambassador Hallis Abdul. I would like to extend you all my friendship, and you may call me Hallis. And without bragging too much, I would like to thank myself for arranging the meeting here in the Sarjevo. I must tell you the food is fantastic and if you don't like it I'll have it thrown out the airlock immediately!" He reflects for just a moment, "The food! I'll have the food thrown out. Not the restaurant."

"While calling our menu tonight a Tour of the Southern Reich would be incredibly passe, Yetti's Star is a bit of a melting pot and the menu shows it. The soup should arrive in half an hour--a gazpacho which I'm told is a special recipe from Erewohn: a property of Vernii that may as well be common to the whole Southern Reich as we all do our business there. Don't worry, the tomatoes are grown fresh in hydroponic farms here on the orbitals. The main course is a 12oz fillet minion served with asperge au creme" Hallis pull out his french pronunciation, perhaps the one language he has to use least in the region, "and the dessert is something I won't bother naming but mention the ice cream on top probably costs as much as the room and comes with gold flake."

"But since we have some time before the meal, I must revert to my Arab tradition--I don't wish to impose, but in my homeland a traveler is obliged to tell his hosts of his travels, of his home. I do believe our Allanian and Arizona Novanian friends owe us a good story! And hopefully we will have some of our own."

Edward Liu

The Duke of Gervais swirled the amber liquid about the tumbler which looked small in his hand. He raised it up an proposed a toast. It was a bourbon from Amber, along with Space Crab Legs the planet Amber produced perhaps the finest bourbon in the Raumreich.

“To our new neighbors” the deep tenor of his voice lowered “and to absent friends.” the Wickian tipped his glass swallowing the liquid in one pull. A waiter came up and refilled it, the Duke looked at him and then spoke to his Liberation host.

“Thank you for extending the invitation to attend to this conference, Abdul. I am certainly enjoying the sites.”

He looked to the two foreigners and spoke to them next.

“My esteemed friend from the Liberation is correct, there is a large enclave of my people here in Yetti’s Star. This is due to some of the consequences of the Great March War.”

That was the conflict that began five years ago when the forces of the Hegemon launched surprise attacks against the Concordat, Liberation, and Imperium. The bloody conflict expanded in the largest ever seen in the Raumreich and ended only with the occupation of Roum. The Imperium and Liberation were able to recoup there losses shortly after the conflict, but the Concordat, already suffering greatly from over a hundred years of conflict against the Hegemony could not. It was only after a short and violent internal conflict that the Protective Association was formed and the Wickian political and economic situation finally stabilized.

“There are Enclaves of Wickians all about the galaxy, the largest contingent by far is located in the Imperium’s capital of Gregor. There are other smaller enclaves scattered about the stars as well like the one here in Yetti’s Star, or others in the Talbott Cluster, or living on the Olympus station in orbit of Jupiter in Old Sol. When the Hegemon attempted to exterminate our race in their genocidal holocaust against my race we sought to spread ourselves out to make it a difficult proposition for him. Channing Ansel is now dead, as is his government, and my nation and people remain, however battered and scarred we are from the fight.”

There was a very real reason why the Protectorate Duke arrived in system with a taskforce of warships, and most of that reason had to do with their relative proximity to the old Hegemony. Even though the Hegemon was dead and his regime replaced by the Federated Suns, no Wickian every went near it without a gun in hand.

The Wickian sipped some more of the bourbon waiting for a moment before he changed topics from the morbid history of his people.

“Perhaps one of our new friends can give us a short overview of their own nation. I confess that I haven’t been able to read much about either, busy cleaning up back home, and frankly we barely were aware you all existed only a few months ago.

“Perhaps I should start, indeed,” - the Allanean replied - “The Verniians should be aware of our people – in fact, I do believe some Allanean sailors were on Greater Prussian ships that fought in the Great March War.”

“The Allaneans are famous for many qualities. We are a country known for our dedication to individual liberty in all its forms – and a dedication for martial tenacity. We are famous for our individualism and the many varied subcultures we tolerate. We have in the past allowed in refugees from a variety of societies facing the cold steel of extermination – Khristians, Kahanistani, elves are only the beginning of the list.”

“In a brief summary, our nation is a constitutional republic based on the principles of individual liberty and sapient rights. Though we sometimes engage in wars to promote these principles, these days we only do so with the support of the world community and in the occasion of the enemies being truly, outrageously evil – the Chronosians and the other Chaos states come to mind immediately. In general, however, in international relationships we favor the principles of national sovereignty, peace, and free trade.”

OOC: This is what im basing my arguement over, http://forums.joltonline.com/showpost.p ... tcount=163 I think that statement is pretty clear.

Edward Liu

As the Allanean representative spoke Edward felt a pressure building inside him, he attempted to control it. He could feel his heart beating quicker and quicker, his skin heating as his blood began to boil. He squeezed his fists tightly under the table, his knuckles turned white. Just as the Allanean man finished speaking the Duke of Gervais could not contain his anger any further.

"All fine qualities in a Nation, though I must admit it is a strange concept to be willing to go to war for the rights of others, not of your nation. History is repeat with examples of one nation invading another claimed to do so for the good of its people and all war brings is death, hardship, and destruction upon those who do not deserve it. You will find that Here in the Raumreich there is no need to fear or be concerned about Chronosia or the other forces of Chaos. I hope you as our new neighbors do not have problems with such nations, the Raumreich would not care to see such trash brought into our neighborhood."

It spoke volumes about the Duke’s disciplined nature that he did not slam his fists into the table top, if he had done so wood of the table would likely had spit and he did not want to bring insult to his host’s generous hospitality. Instead the Wickian’s two read eyes stared at the Allanean,

“I wonder as to your first statement Mr. Bander, I do not recall any Allanean naval ships with the contingent sent by Greater Prussia. Perhaps I am the one mistaken? That could well be the case I was wounded in the Battle of Gadsen serving under Admiral Peregrine and was wounded, I spent most of the later half of the War in a medical tank.”

The Wickian inclined his head towards Abdul.

“Seems to me all the vessels under the GPE’s flag did was sit on their ass in Alpha Centuari and Gregor, while the CSN and the Silver Fleet died protecting their home systems from attack.”

Both the Liberation and Concordat were assaulted in the first wave, and the Solar Navy attempted to finish both off in the Second Wave before they would move against Gregor, it was by the grace of god that either survived the bloody battles. The Duke picked up his glass finished what the two fingers that remained in his tumbler he sent it down with a clank.

He now looked at the Vernii man,

“Yes, Gregor was always well protected by friendly fleets and allies, even when the time for their fight came by the Lion herself.” Bitterness lined the Wickian voice as he looked back to the two newcomers, “But such is the realities of that war, and the importance of having one’s capital connected directly to Alpha Centauri. The war may be five years in the past, but its memory and scars are barely healed. I only ask Mr. Bander that you recant involvement if it is not the truth, and this matter will be forgotten.”

To a Wickian Honor was a vital virtue, if a man perjured himself in an attempt to gain favor by another party, more so claiming participation in a conflict when there was not, great insult was given which would require satisfaction. If it was a slip of the tongue or unintentional though such things were easily forgiven.

The Allanean shrugs. “You do not recall any Allanean naval ships anywhere in the Great March War. Neither do I. Never have I claimed that any Allanean naval ships participated in any part of that conflict. I have stated – and I continue to state - there were Allanean sailors on Prussian ships. Perhaps I was wrong. That is quite possible, and I'm ready to apologize.”

Abdul's jaw drops. If it were physically possible it would hit the table on the way down to the floor, thankfully it was not. He attempts to play things off as best he can.

"You'll have to bear with my Wickian counterpart. The Wickians are an intensely honorbound people. Everything can be a battlefield to a people wrung through more wars and genocides than the Jews." He eyes the Wickian with a slight bit of censored rage. "Even polite conversation."

"It is a fact that Allaneans were present for the battle of Gregor, as were the peoples of many nations present in the great gathering place of Gregor, yes?"

Just then a waiter opens the door and the staff begins to bring in the food. Abdul would sigh with relief if he were then capable. "And the soup has arrived! Let's all have a seat at the dining table."

[OOC: Alright everybody, you have homework. Put together an outline of your state set up as follows so that you can post it OOC so that we may all know what the hell we're getting into:

A.) Type of government
B.) Biggest industries
C.) General temperment of your people (yes, I know, this can be hard, but in the case of Wick this NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED)
D.) State, in general terms, how militaristic you are

... and that's all I can think of at the moment.]
