Adan walked over to his bed and quickly changed his pants before anyone else came in, mainly out of modesty. Then, he looked at his scars that had put him out of action. Thay reminded him, he needed to ask the NCO something. He put on the shirt and turned around beginning to button it, asked "So, does anyone have any ideas on what to do for two hours?".

Lori listened attentively to the teacher who spoke so professionally - so eloquently - that she had almost been lured into another world by the sound of his accent, but she managed to keep herself busily writing notes with the occasional little sketch to give her some further and cutesy understanding of the civilizations discussed, a lot of them she remembered from similar studies back in Ganosia. She was able to take away all the needed information for her notes before the class ended. She did let Sam hold her hand for a bit, but then motioned to him to wait till class ended, blushing slightly. After she finished in that class, she noticed someone came to approach her with greetings. She told Sam to wait for her while she talked to this girl.

New Edom wrote:Adah had enjoyed the class, had enjoyed class participation and the sense that the prof was hard but fair, a good combination. She was curious about her classmates, and frankly interested in some of them. Adah had to be discreet about her pleasures. She was no hippy, and didn't want to flaunt her desires in front of everyone, but she loved women. They made her heart melt, made her heart soar, they were so beautiful. She caught Lori's eye at one point, giving her a frank and warm smile of appreciation. Such a beautiful girl. A fantasy overtook her midway through class, of inspecting Lori like a new horse, running hands up and down naked flanks, a slap testing the firmness of a neatly quivering buttock, that bosom in her hands. She had to force herself to pay attention at one point. As Lori was gathering her books she walked up to her and said, "My name is Cornet Adah Weber--and you are Lori Cummings. It's nice to meet you!"

Aquitayne wrote:Sam let go of Lori's hand and stood up with his books, taking hers for her as well. He enjoyed this class, mostly because of the way the professor taught it. It was different, and Sam liked that. He waited for Lori to get ready before he began walking with her to their next class.

"So your name is Cornet? Yes, I'm Lori Cummings. It's nice to meet you too. What country do you come from? I come from Ganosia. You ever heard of it?" Lori asked with a smile.

She looked over to Sam briefly and smiled. "I'll be with you soon, Sam. We'll go get our uniforms together - perhaps this girl will join us as a new friend. That'd be cool, eh?"

"Enjoy the time off, find your classes, study, make friends, eat breakfast if you have not already. Chat up someone nice," Mina suggested lightly when he'd gotten dressed. People could be shy, so she turned her back for him. By the end of the year, she doubted any of them would still be self conscious. "I am going to go catch the football game, maybe play."

Jolee got over to her bed and her caregiver helped her strip down completely. Then, her caregiver helped her put on her uniform. It took almost the whole time in between classes, so Jolee was really scared that someone might notice what she had between her legs. She remembered what happened at her old school, she was forced to use the boys restroom by the administration. The day she really had to use the restroom was the last day she was able to on her own. They slammed her into the bathroom wall and beat her with sticks then they raped her. Her clothes were torn off and she was left for dead. She barely crawled out of that restroom alive. The administration expelled her even though she was the victim.

Adah smiled at Lori. "Actually Cornet is a rank--it is the lowed rank for a commissioned officer in the New Edomite Cavalry, and I am of course a New Edomite, an Anglo-German. It's nice to meet you." she was enjoying looking at Lori, and liked her smile. "Yes, let's get our BDUs together." She was used to barracks stuff and changed unselfconsciously, not flaunting her body, and discreetly checked Lori out. She neatly folded up her dress uniform and put it away carefully along with her sword and shako style hat, and made sure her falcon was on his perch near the sun but just out of it, and put some paper on the floor around his perch.

The oddness of the Akademia was probably how little people seemed to pay attention to the oddity of Jolee. Mina had to have noticed: she was standing right there explaining things when the Linistean changed. And no reaction even registered. Every single Nalayan student here had already been through basic training, where the mantra of the armed forces was ingrained so deep into your being that it blew any inherited prejudices right out of the water. Mina had shouted it at her own unit until their ears ran too: Man or woman, athiest or fundamentalist, gay or straight, black or white or somewhere in between, now you're all goddamn green.

The military was the only reason Nalaya was unified, and that had only happened because General Vaneni could be a right bitch when she wanted to be. It made sense, though. The people you trained with were going to be your everything. You couldn't be thinking about what his ancestor did to yours five hundred years ago.

Another Nalayan padded in silently, a girl with Quenyan features and blond hair—Vanadessë was the first in her family to be born on Nalayan soil, the child of refugees. She ambushed Mina from behind with a hug that more resembled a tackle, ruffling up the NCO's hair. "There's my favorite serzhant! How are the Otaterkrya shaping up?"

"Love you too, Vana," Mina grumbled, trying to restore order to her hair. "Everyone, this is Khndir Sep’akanater Vanadessë Zornakyan. She's an insufferable pain in the ass, but also a good person to see if you need help or have any trouble here."

"That's me—Vana, though. I'm off duty and the rank is a mouthful," Vana said brightly. She was probably the polar opposite of her older sister in temperament, but they'd lead very different lives. Kethiilys and Vanadessë shared green eyes and had both gone into the Unkndirnei, as evidenced by the crimson armband Vana wore, but that was where the resemblance between sisters ended.

Alexander's eyebrows rose as he heard the name of Mina's sister. Quite a mouthful. "Damn, that is a long name you have there. Do all Nalayans have such long names?" He chuckled. He slipped on the final piece of his uniform; the overshirt. It fit him well, being a slim as he was. "Not bad, not bad at all. Say, Nursultan, you still up for playing that instrument of yours? I'd love to hear it."

He unconciously reached for a notebook that he had brought with him and began sketching, glancing up at the other students every so often.

Adan laughed when she had turned, "No need to avert your eyes. You tend to lose care about wearing a shirt when you've fought without one". He paused for a moment to ponder if that was uncommon or not outside Plains and Mountain culture in the confederacy. He was about to ask the question he had meant to ask the Serzhant when another girl walked in, who she introduced as her sister. Adan smiled politely, "Hello, I'm Adan. It's a pleasure to meet you". He bowed his head quickly before turning back to the Serzhant. "Ma'am, are we allowed to wear Uniform pieces from our other uniform, such as caps? I'm curious to know if I can wear my AMC beret".

Adah was a little startled by Jolee but didn't let it show on her face. What she mostly felt was pity--Jolee seemed so gentle and quiet, and she seemed embarrassed as she had to be changed like a doll or baby in front of others. Adah rarely felt such a gentle kindness towards others, especially in the military. She decided that she'd try to make friends with the Linnistean...girl...if she could. What she found odder was the casual physical affection of the Nalayans, and how it was normal to be a female officer here, not one in five or seven. That was nice in a way.

"Khndir Sep'akanater Vanadesse Zornakyan." said Adah, seeing the newcomer, repeating the words. She couldn't help it, for a moment her face was flat and wary. Elwe. No it wasn't, it was a Nalayan, she pulled herself together, and offered a hand. "It is an honor to meet you. Cornet Adah Weber, 14th ACR."

Nursultan smiled widely, "Yes! I will go and retrieve it!" He began to run away to retrieve his dombyra, but stopped briefly to look at Mina the Sergeant, whom he clearly fancied. He shook off his stare and continued to grab his dombyra. He returned soon after and showed Alexander his Dombyra, then began to play, and sing, a song in one of the many languages of Qyryqstan. He hoped very badly while he was singing that nobody would offend him.

When Nursultain had finished, Alexander remained still. He then nodded his head and began to clap slowly. "Amazing...never heard anything like it. Very different from my countrymens' music." he paused. "Now, tell me, do you think this looks like that girl over there?"

He showed Nursultan his notebook, on which was sketched a well-drawn picture of the girl with the scarf constantly wrapped around her face, Mirabelle. "She's beautiful...I had to at least try. Be honest...is my work good?"

As Lori went to get her uniform, hopefully having Sam follow behind, Lori talked to the young army bound woman. "I couldn't be a soldier....I don't think I could handle the pressure that war would put on me or my dad like that. I respect the soldiers who go out there and put their lives on the line for us, but I just can't see myself following them without getting scared and spending my entire service behind whatever cover I could find while my colleagues all get shot at. I could see myself being a nurse though. Tending to wounds and helping people try to find some sort of relaxation amidst all the chaos around them. I like to think of that as a possible career for me."

Lori didn't seem to notice Adah was checking her out, instead she was focused on trying out her uniform. She found a nearby mirror and made a few poses before giggling like a schoolgirl. She then looked for Sam. Gotta show him my new threads, she thought.

Nursultan was overjoyed that Alexander had enjoyed his music. He knew that Alexander would be a good person to have as a friend in the Akademia. He looked closely at Alexander's drawing, then towards the girl with the scarf. Nursultan nodded several times and said enthusiastically, "Yes, it is a quite good drawing. You think that she is beautiful, yes? Very good drawing." He smiled that Qyryq smile that could melt any heart, whether it was meant to do so or not.

"Most of that was actually my rank," Vana explained. "It means 'case agent'. Lop off the first half, and you have my name. And no no, Mina is not my sister. Just my friend. Trust me, you would remember if you met my older sister—Kethiilys is...different."

"Your beret will be be fine," Mina assured Adan. "Regulations are somewhat loose regarding hair and headgear." When Nursultan started to play, she watched with a smile. After the song finished, she said, "You're very good, arvestaget. I wish I had such a gift."

"Proper military, then. I am not. Unkndirnei," Vanadessë said, shaking Adah's hand with that delicate Nalayan touch. Her voice was more serious now. "And before you can bring it up, I am not Elwe, nor have I ever met any. My parents were Snefaldian. A similar lineage, I think. But I am Nalayan to my toes. I worked alongside some Edomites during the war with Premislyd. I was impressed. You should be proud to wear that uniform."

"Thank you Serzhant". Adan was thrilled he could wear it. He walked over to the footlocker and pulled it out, making sure the emblem was onbproperly before he put it on. It was a simple black beret, with the gold emblem of a knife with the tip facing downards, but it meant so much more toAdan. It was thr beret of an Air Mobile Commando, that he earned through sweat and blood, and wears proudly. He hoped that when he got back, he could earn the red beret of an Air Commando. "So, Vana, what do you do in the Nalayan Military?"
