ooc: Just had this as an issue, and I actually genuinely would like the ponyist opinion on what to do. I have my own idea based on a love of robots, however I really can't decide which approach to take, so I figured i'd ask for the ponyist professional opinion. I'm also considering implementing it alongside the defense summit, because it might tie in well with what happened to morningstar.

As you very well know, a masked stranger with a pistol made an attempt on your life but moments ago while you were out on your lunch break. An emergency meeting has been called right here in the middle of the street after the would-be assassin disappeared over a nearby grassy knoll.
The Debate

"Oh dear! Oh dearie me, that was so rude!" coos your personal assistant, adjusting your tie. "You'll just have to prove to the citizens of Eadesiopia that you are a good and benevolent leader, and don't deserve to be brutally shot in the head! The only way to keep you safe is to make the public like you! Do something nice for them! Might I suggest a nice tax cut?"


"What makes you think it's a member of the general public behind this?" asks your Head of Security, Xu Longbottom. "It's more likely to be the work of some underground separatist group trying to remove you from power! We've let them have their protests and their rallies and their free speech, and now they've taken it to the next level! We should be cracking down on this insolence instead of rewarding it! Show the people what happens to those who dare to question your authority. You've got to remind them that you, Leader, are their Lord and Master!"


"Whoa there! Let's not be too hasty, bruv!" says law-abiding citizen, Matilda al-Zahawi, casually walking up to you and flinging an arm around your shoulder. "This sort of thing wouldn't be a problem at all if you just beefed up your personal security a bit. You could hire a few extra bodyguards and get yourself a shiny new armoured car! Nobody could touch you!"


"Hah! Like that will work!" snorts Bianca Tan, Minister of Waste Disposal and Sanitation. "They'll just come after the rest of us and destroy the government from the bottom up! No, we need to go even further - reinforce the Parliament! We'll turn Eadesiopia City into an impenetrable fortress! Robot bodyguards, food tasters... no expense should be spared! We should all do our jobs through a complex network of computers so we never have to leave the safety of our offices again!"

I'm actually considering the fourth option most. I love the idea of a logans run / demolition man style world.

I love the idea of AI and robot rights. I have had for a while a slight obsession with Asimovs three laws of robotics. If you like anime I'd recommend you watch a series called Time of Eve, its one of the "makes you think" anime, its an OVA, you can find it on crunchyroll.

Eh, glad I missed it. Too many summits need to have some sort of special event, like a disaster or assassination, and they invariably distract from the meaning of the summits. I've seen far too many derailed because ICly it is nearly impossible to move on from such an event realistically. I have seen one of those summits actually reach their end.

Well, the above is a sample, but I'm considering, thanks to Urmanian, doing a Nightmare Night party RP thread, for COPS members' heads of state/government, hosted by Luna (The obvious exception is Nightmare Moon; can't really invite the real Nightmare Moon) which would consist of a Halloween party, and a game of a Pony-themed Werewolf variant, in which the characters are either innocent villagers or Wicked Nightmare Moon Cultists. Because we seem to go through a lot of violent stuff on this forum, it'll be a non-violent (which is to say no one will be 'killed' in the party game, rather the cultists will 'convert' players, and the villagers will 'accuse' one another (and the accused will sit out as 'jailed.'

There will be more detailed explanation if folks are interested (I need about seven to run) and most of the 'action' of the game will be done by TG. I expect the thread about the party to run about a week to two weeks with daily (with one or two exceptions) posting or more frequent by myself.

Most of my reason for doing this is that for a MLP themed alliance, COPS unfortunately has to put up with an awful lot of belligerence, and I think it'd be fun to do something lighter.
