Awesome, this is totally a great place to use this song (and show that David is a Tenor apparently), plus where else could we have Ficher and him dooke it out again!

Roma shall know how crafty and hardy the people of Germany are!

Was David the one who ran away while Fischer continued laying down the pain on Cain back in Paris?

He tried to run Cain out of there, but basic logic ruled he've run out of power before he got out of the city, he left Cain there because he couldn't of saved either of them if he didn't run

Now after some real training with Spectre, being physically auged, his power getting grander, and a burning hate for those under ficher, he is open for a round 2

With her as point, our team of robots can pinpoint the locations of the submarines and their docking pens.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this just sonar?

Essentially it is active sonar. However the problem with actual sonar is interference from the boat it's upon. Anything that can be used against subs has to be held deeper than the boat it's attached to and the line is very expensive. With Echo, it's very cheap, undetectable, and more precise. As well as the robots.

If 'echo' is 'essentially active sonar', and if active sonar is detectable, then obviously 'echo' will also be detectable.

More importantly however, an (arguable) upgrade to sonar won't allow you to track down random submarines in the Atlantic Ocean. That place is big, mate.

...I'm wondering why everyone's having all these crazy ideas suddenly to give them an edge over Rome. It will be just as much of a challenge to take down Rome, with or without genetically altered aliens, teleporters the size of Tokyo Bay, and fishwenches with active sonar build into their tits.

Anyway, because Chaos is lazy and doesn't want to post as Jeremiah right now (Maybe, jury is out), I guess I should get my people involved...

And if you think Jedi's thing is arbitrary, just wait, I can totally think of something even worse! (I won't but I want you to know I could)

You misunderstand. Active sonar is "detectable" persay because it's kept on huge boats or subs which are also subject to sonar. Echo and the robots are too small to be detected by sonar.

More importantly however, an (arguable) upgrade to sonar won't allow you to track down random submarines in the Atlantic Ocean. That place is big, mate.

:eyebrow:

You're not suggesting that Rome has subs all throughout the entire Atlantic are you? As you point out, it's a big place and it would be too expensive to have that many subs. Furthermore, there would be American subs in the Atlantic as well. If Rome has subs in the place where America would send it's fleet, then these subs would be fairly easy to find anyway since there is only one place to look: the path where America's ships are going.

...I'm wondering why everyone's having all these crazy ideas suddenly to give them an edge over Rome. It will be just as much of a challenge to take down Rome, with or without genetically altered aliens, teleporters the size of Tokyo Bay, and fishwenches with active sonar build into their tits.

Nobody is suggesting it won't be a challenge. We are simply developing ideas to give us a chance against the juggernaut that is Rome.

I also hope you don't' mind me Dugal having his revelation when he did. It just seemed appropriate. And if there's a time when he needs Matthew's power, it's now.

"In combat situations, an active pulse can be detected by an opponent and will reveal a submarine's position."

From the 'sonar' page on Wikipedia, subsection 'active sonar'.

Also, Vladimir's reply made me smirk.

ESC, unmanned subs is not a tech that has been around for ages. It's just now beginning to have breakthroughs in RL 2012. In the year 2043, it would be innovative to have such a small craft fitted with advanced sonar detection.

Take this from someone whose dad works on these type of projects for the Navy.

You seem to forget that 30 years is a LONG time, techwise. Look the the Predator Drones. When they first came out, all they did was fly. 10 years later, they are armed with hellfire missiles and we have stealth drones like the one that fell in Iran is that is most likely in the hands of China.

Also I was talking about the Sonar not the subs.

Well assuming the Navy even gets unmanned subs in active use by 2015, being able to fit sonar small enough to work and avoid detection is indeed quite a feat.

I'm starting to get curious about these 'Nighthawks'. It's coincidental that they all have the same superpowers. I smell a supersoldier program. Perhaps even some HUNT involvement?

All the Nighthawks do for the British is play bodyguard. The use of a Nighthawk to help this team out is not going to cripple the recovery effort.

Mum's the word. You'll know come FOG4. The origins of the Nighthawks plays a rather crucial role actually. At least in the beginning.

Lidar doesn't work in water for obvious reasons. Light gets scattered rather easily in water.

"Refining" a tech to ignore the properties of water is something that isn't going to be accomplished in a short time frame. Certainly not in 30 years. If Zeta is willing to lend his magical physics defying LADAR, then be my guest.

Pff, Lidar's so last Millenium, he uses advanced scanners that work on the Quantum level analyizing the vibrations of all things within a certain distance and reconstructing the source based on the vibration, having discovered that everything has it's own unique vibrational signature within certain types.
