BVC News: 85th WorldVision Song Contest

Britonisea and Estogium set to take a break from WorldVision Song Contest according to tweet by BTVB...

By Jayden Crossways

While the BTVB isn't in charge of whether Estogium participates at the WorldVision Song Contest or not, we can almost guarantee that Britonisea won't be participating at the upcoming WorldVision Song Contest. If BTVB's tweet is correct, this could be the first time in 54 editions there hasn't been ABEN presence...

The 84th WorldVision Song Contest came and went over the weekend, which saw Britonisea place 9th place with 139 points - which was a higher position than the edition before when Britonisea placed 10th. While Britonisea has not fallen out of the top 10 in the last 20 or so editions the nation has participated, the past couple of editions have seen the nation on thin ice as it narrowly misses not placing in the top 10. The nation, while it placed 8th in the jury, placed 11th in the televote, with those voting from Talvezout and Mister X viewing the song negatively, as expected while nations such as Normandy & Picardy, Waisnor and Antahbrantahstan liked the Britonish efforts. Meghan Jorgensen was happy with her results, explaining that she felt as though she did a good job in what seemed like a changing climate at the WorldVision Song Contest.

Though despite an average result from Britonisea it seems as though the broadcaster had - once again - lost interest in the Contest, with a tweet by BTVB announcing this earlier today. It is unsure as to whether Britonisea would ever return to the WorldVision Song Contest, but it is expected that the upcoming Vha Mehlodhivestoile winner would go to the WorldVision Song Contest as expected.

Estogium's withdrawal, if true, would make more sense than that of the Britonish one. Estogium's song "If You Wanna", which had more success across ABEN than than the Britonish entry, but Estogium ended up 19th place with 87 points - the first time an ABEN entry has failed to break the 100 point boundary since the addition of the televote. This comes after Estogium's dysmal performance at the World Hit Festival which saw the nation fail to qualify, placing 13th in the Semi-Final after fans initially thought that Estogium could qualify. Estogium has placed 32nd, 13th, 24th and now 19th since returning to the contest in Britonisea for the 81st edition.

With no hints as to whether other ABEN nations are set to return and these two nations withdrawing, it could be the first time in 54 editions where there isn't ABEN presence at the WorldVision Song Contest.

We interrupt your usual broadcast for an important announcement

Live from Norfolk Pinewoods, Beepee

Good afternoon,

Beepeean Occasional News Corporation (BONC) is delighted to announce its bid to host the 85th edition of WorldVision.

Quick-Guide Brochure

For the time poor amongst us, we have prepared a very brief brochure highlighting the key aspects of the bid.

If however you have time let me please take you through the key aspects of the bid.

Image

Image
Proposed logo for WV85

Welcome to Norfolk Pinewoods

The jewel in the crown of Beepeean cities, Norfolk Pinewoods has all he modern day amenities of a large city, with bars, restaurants, entertainment and sporting venues.  Despite the capital of Beepee, having a population of only 16,412.

The legislative and administrative hub of Beepee, Norfolk Pinewoods (NP) has a cool city vibe, where you can chill out in the coffee shops in one of our leafy suburbs or shop in our recently refurbished central business district.

Image

When seeking a place to enjoy the first meal of the day, NP leaves visitors spoiled for choice.

A short stroll through the CBD leads visitors to the legendary Patty Zeri's Bakery. Zeri does freshly baked goods extremely well, and the heady scent of artisanal pastries and breads that fill the interiors of the shop explain why it’s been a local favourite for years. While  the homemade pies, pastries and tarts are all winners.

Visit the local markets, held every Saturday in the heart of the CBD the Markets are a must-visit for everything from vintage fashion to antique decor, upcycled goods, handmade beauty products, ceramics and fashion from up-and-coming local designers. The market is held come rain, hail or shine, and funds raised go towards  local orphanages, adding some social good to the experience.

Home to many of Beepee’s most exciting contemporary art galleries, such as the sophisticated Franklin J Hart Studio, commonly known as the F Hart Studio, on Kodak Street, art lovers can check out the work of established and up-and-coming local artists.

In NP, astounding architecture meets a human scale, in a city easy to get around in with an extensive public transport network and plenty of natural space to breathe in under a pine or gum tree and soak in the beauty of Beepee.

Image

Bursting with creative energy, stylish restaurants, galleries, small bars and unique shopping experiences. There’s a lot to take in when exploring NP.

Norfolk Pinewoods was first established in 1878 on the remains of an old plantation.  Founder Earl Smooter was in cotton and all that that entails, and slowly grew to become the capital in Beepeean foundation in 2018.

Modern and historic fuse together in comfortable and liveable city.

Getting Here

Its easy to get to Norfolk Pinewoods and by a method of transport types.

NP Airport receives international flights and is located only short train, bus or taxi ride from the central business district.

If coming by water, arrival through Golden Wattle Bay and then inter-city train or internal flight is the best option.

Beepee has a modern and extensive public transport system and visitors should have no issue travelling around our welcoming nation.

Travel around NP is easy with a comprehensive bus and light rail system which covers many of the main attractions.

A short 1 hr drive outside of NP, visitors can explore the first national park where you see a whole host of local flora and fauna including the famed hairy nosed wombat or see the towering and majestic blue gum trees.

Accomodation

Each delegation will be provided accomodation at one of Beepee Hotels finest apartment hotels.  Staying in comfort and luxury, costs will be borne by BONC.

Venue

Waratah Theatre

Image

The Waratah Theatre, constructed in 1978 and refurbished in 2018 for its fortieth year, is the proposed venue. The theatre sits in the heart of Norfolk Pinewoods.

Image

With a capacity of 2,700 seats and ample technical capabilities (for commentary boxes and international broadcasting), the Waratah Theatre harks back to more civilised times of viewing high quality musical acts in comfort and luxury.

It is anticipated that tickets will sell out and as such, a second 'outside party' are will be provided in the courtyard to the front of the theatre.

Image

This will allow fans and visitors to soak up the atmosphere, even without a ticket.

The theatre has facilities including two bars, a cafe, an award winning restaurant,  multiple restrooms as well as full accessibility.

Whilst the main hall will host the event, the smaller second hall will operate as the 'green room space'.

Staging

The inspiration for the staging, and the WV85 logo, is stage from Eurovision 1976

Image

The stage will be semi circular in nature, from left and right stage steps will lead to a connecting walkway which extends around the orchestra pit.

A 42 piece orchestra is available if the delegations wish to use it.

The rear of the stage will be set with a full height LED wall which may project any images, words or colours the delegation may wish.

In addition, lit geometric shapes on wires can be brought down on wires to create a moving backdrop of shapes.  These can move to shapes or disappear as the delegation wishes.

To the right of the stage the full height computer controlled scoreboard. A simple black and white design allow for ease of viewing in both the theatre and by the televisual viewer.

Image

Presenter

Hugh Jakeman

Established as an actor for his generation, Hugh Jakeman has starred in a number of locally successful movies and television series.

Image
A still from the move "Wolfareen"

Hugh has commented for Beepee in both WorldVision and World Hit Festivals, and has achieved popular local success with an irreverent and comedic commentary of the acts and frequent intoxication.

We're sure Hugh will be the ultimate professional.

Interval Act

International recording artists Betty Wont and Mike Oxlong will present a popular beepeean pop song.

Whilst the Beepeean Broadcasting Corporation's Concert Orchestra will perform a piece prepared by Wayvn La Baton under the auspices of "Together in Harmony".

Graphics

A postcard will be presented for each act.

It will feature an aspect of Beepeean culture, life or its people, an example of the graphic is below.

Image

Image

Listen Along

Due to the location of Beepee in the multiverse, the show will be held in AEST, however a playlist will be made available.

COVID Safe

Beepee has been declared covid free and currently has no restrictions on movement of travel.

For international travel, temperatures will be checked on arrival by our health services, and usual precautions should be taken by all visitors.

We'd love you to be together in harmony with us, together in Beepee.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

Axuva Today Network [ATN] Today we announce that the Axuvian Government now recognizes The Russian Language as an Official Language, Korean and English were spoken in the beginning, but there were Russians too, russians were forgotten and their language were not recognized due to the things they did in the past, but now their language is a official language of Axuva, and there will now be 3 official languages instead of two.

WorldVision Song Contest 85
Valletta, Malta Comino Gozo

MCG 1 would like to welcome you all back to the terrific city of Valletta, the stunning beautiful capital city of the Kingdom of Malta Comino Gozo. MCG1 successfully hosted the 78th addition of the Worldvision Song Contest and now we have won we feel now is the perfect time for you to all come back! Malta Comino Gozo has established itself as a successful nation at the Worldvision, hosting its first contest after only two editions of competing as well as achieving six top ten placings and its first win in WV84, winning both the Jury and the Televote in an impressive and phenomenal victory!

The slogan, "Paint your own music" is based on Malta Comino Gozoan culture, the culture is generally considered to be a mix of influences brought to the islands by the various characters it has seen come and go over many centuries. Deeply devout Christians but ready to have a party at any hour of the day,a stunning Mediterranean cuisine, as well as some of the sweetest people you could ever meet. All these combine into a melting pot of cultures which make up this unique culture just like colours on a paint board. Each colour blends and mixes with each other. The islands are famous for their brightly coloured facades and balconies which adorn the sun kissed limestone buildings. Many cultural festivals throughout the year involve hundreds of nationwide paint fights, where different villages and towns meet in a "war" of paint, throwing their various village flag colours at the opposition resulting in a bright coloured display of unity and fun! Each postcard will reflect this with various paint splats representing the countries colours. These small yet stunning islands boast some of the worlds best cultural and historical sights.

Valletta is the financial heart and cultural heart of MCG. The city serves as a meeting point between old and new. It is home to the seat of government for the entire country, contrary to popular belief, the King does not live in Valletta, he and his family reside in Hafna Palace in the town of Runbett. They do have a palace at Maxket House in Valletta which they split their time between.Valletta proper is split into two distinct areas, Valletta old town which dates back to 1455, with hidden gems on every street. Boasting Palaces to beautiful government buildings, to sun washed gardens to its famous city walls, stunning cathedrals, baroque architecture and winding back alleys, and Valleta Downtown, the new modern purpose built financial heart of the capital, home to the MCG Mall and Casino, Valletta Clock tower, Valletta Yacht Club and its breathtaking sea front district on Victoria Street. Layfayette Park is a newer district incorparted into Valletta Metropolitan area in 2008 is home to the CBD. Malta Comino Gozo has a population of 495,559 of which nearly 130,000 live in and around the Valletta Metropolitan area making it the biggest urban area in the country. The city is mostly made up of around 95% ethnic Malta Comino Gozoans but is home to a small number of Polkopian and Elejamians. Malta Comino Gozoans are a welcoming and warm people, though speaking quietly isn't an option. While this may come across as shouting it is just the way they speak and no harm is meant by this. Smile at any Malta Comino Gozoan and expect a huge smile and wave back. Maltese is the official language as well as English, so don't threat, you will have no trouble getting around the islands.

Image
Image
As the largest metropolitan area in Malta Comino Gozo, the city serves as a beating hub for history, culture and creativity. “Paint Your Own Music” encapsulates Valletta perfectly. With the city's beautiful golden sandy beaches, historical old town, fine Mediterranean cuisine, and some of the worlds best nightlife, there’s always something to see and do. Old or young you'll fall in love with this fine place.

Valletta as the cultural hub of the country is also the transport hub. Every road leads back to Valletta and the public transport is no exception. Catch a passenger ferry from Valletta Marina to the Main Harbour Town of Dahlet-Marsa Gozo every hour and from there onto the tiny un-spoilt island of Comino and its port, home to only 300 inhabitants. Famous for its large sandy beaches, crystal clear water and wild forests. Ferries leave every 20 minutes. Gozo and Comino are much more rural than the main Island and should not be missed. Gozo with its stunning rolling hills, forests, beautiful hilltop villages. Dahlet-Marsa is a quaint harbour town with a beautiful sea front and thriving fishing industry and excellent night life and Cittadel is a 15th century walled fortress town overlooking the entire island. The port of Ghaxrin (Ash-reen) also offers a passenger ferry shuttle to and from Valletta only.

Image

Gozo can only be reached by car if you journey on the ferry but it can also be reached by train. Valletta has two main stations Victoria Street, in Downtown and Valletta East situated outside the old city walls. Trains shuttle from Mosatra in the west all the way Cittadel in Gozo. Trains from Valletta to Cittadel take around 30 mins and leave every 15 mins. Valletta to Mosatra takes 20 mins. You can really explore the entire country and be back in the capital for dinner time.

Accommodation in Valletta

Each delegation will have the option of staying in two of the best accommodations the country has to offer. Both award winning Hotels are located in Valletta downtown, the elegant 5 star Lukanda Valletta built in 1862 with its low relief sculptures, marble colonnades and crystal chandeliers combine to create a sense of awe-inspiring solemnity that makes this such a memorable destination. The hotel has 99 rooms divided into four groups based on type of view, decoration and luxury. The Stage
Image
The Stage
The Stage
Stage in action

The stage has been designed by famous Malta Comino Gozoan designer Lukas Emon. “It’s a very flexible and easy to use stage, its large High Resolution LED background and high resolution floor offer groundbreaking graphics and are the blank canvas on which the delegations can paint and tell their story”. The stage will sit at the back of the arena with the audience to the left right and centre of the stage. The stage is a kite shape in shape, with diagonal jagged edges. The very tip of the stage juts out right into the audience and acts as a kind of catwalk from the main square shaped stage. There is also a VIP Fan area for fans nestled in between the stage and the rest of the audience. It offers a 7m high and 20m wide, high resolution LED wall, which is which also hugs the back of the stage adjacent to the angles of the floor. The state of the art high resolution graphics add exceptionally detailed and high quality LED backgrounds and images to create crisp, neat and breathtaking backdrops. Downtown Valletta where the The Fed-Ex Arena is located is a hub of activity with dozens of restaurants nearby from nationalities from all over the Multiverse. Downtown Valletta was purpose built in 1908 as a surge in population and investment meant the small tiny walled capital with its increasing population of over 8,000 needed more space. The walled city which is a UNESCO world heritage sight could not be tampered with therefore a new plan at the time was drawn up to build the new Downtown of the city, complete with wide, tree filled boulevards, luxurious promenades, huge open spaces and plaza's as well as hundreds of new business's offices and apartments to house the growing population. The new Downtown took 2 years to build and is built in a grid style for easy navigation. Famous landmarks include MCG1 Broadcasting House, Valletta Central Clock,The MCG Mall and the National Library. The new area of the city has expanded ever since with new builds built every year.

Graphics

MCG 1 has teamed up with the amazing broadcasters at NTR to deliver these amazing graphics. The Slogan " Paint Your Own Music" is around the idea that every artists is a painter and their song and performance is their canvas to do what they like. For such a cultural nation we feel this tagline encapsulates all of Malta Comino Gozo in all its forms as mentioned before. Each countries postcard will be a simple easy on the eye design as well as keeping the modern abstract colours in the background. The amazing Opening Act, Parade of Nations and various Interval Acts will include some of the biggest names in MCG and the multiverse. GET READY TO PARTY!

I've decided to have my NF listenalong on Sunday, in the Asia-Pacific evening (afternoon BST, morning EST). Hope to see you there!

If you're voting separately and find the high number of songs in my NF intimidating, don't be! The recap is under 3 minutes, which means you can vote faster than the time it takes to listen to the average WorldVision entry.

I've voted in most of the NFs listed already, if you haven't received my votes please let me know and I'll make it right.

Thanks in advance everyone!

The semi-finals are sorted! The ten songs have been randomly split into the following heats:

Image

Remember, for those nations voting, here are your rules:
- An applying nation may vote in one semi-final or both.
- Each nation voting in a semi-final has a bank of 20 points per semi-final they vote in.
- All 20 points must be used in a semi-final for the vote to be valid.
- A nation cannot give more than 8 points to a single entry, and each entry must receive at least one point.
- The top two entries from each semi-final, plus a jury selected wildcard, will advance to the final on Thursday.

To vote, find the songs here, then simply send myself a telegram, or drop me a DM through Discord if you have it with your point scores.

Image

Good luck to everyone! Now, let the vote begin!

Ladies and Gentlemen, Thank you for voting in this season's competition! We're impressed by the way that everyone voted and we can't wait to do much better than this season!

Okay, for now, we're still discussing about the 2nd place and WHF. However, The winner of Season Three must go against a challenger to actually go to the World stage.

Okay... Without further ado.

In 6th place with 57 points, is...
ARAMNA

In 5th place with 59 points, is...
well this is a surprise. ZAFIZAMARRAH.

In 4th place with 75 points, is....
BRISTOL, with 12 points from Beepee, Waisnor and Malta Comino Gozo.

In 3rd place with 77 points, is...
Basna with one twelve points from Scotatrova!

In 2nd place with also 77 points, is... drumroll.... Because this might be our representative for the next World Hit Festival. THE RUNNER UP IS...
DANIEL RITZANUL is the runnerup this season from TEL HADIV! This means that Daniel might represent the country either with this song, or with a new song. He might represent the country in WHF 55 or later. It depends on this season.

And that means,
RIGA RIGS FROM PYALIVOSTOK WON SEASON THREE AND THEY WILL GO ON TO THE SECOND ROUND TO FIGHT FOR THE WORLDVISION TICKET! with 87 points and 12 points from Ertzei Kishim, Achaean Republic, and Nekoni!

Read after the results:
Okay, here's what we'll do. In this Second round, we'll be having a challenger which is the favorite runnerup of the runnerups from each regional final. Since RIGA RIGS won the season and the first round, they have to won the second round again in order to go to Worldvision.

IF they lost the second round, RIGA RIGS will go to WHF. This means that Daniel would get a free pass for the next Alezimania either representing Tel Hadiv again or as a challenger for next season (if public approval of the selections of songs in the first round are considered low again) if he chooses to submit again.

Okay congratulations to the winner of the third season of ALEZIMANIA! Now. We got a challenger as you all know in this venue. Well, that challenger would be from ZAFIZAMARRAH after winning the Alezian Worldvision Fanclub Second Maniac Competition last week. And the challenger is....

Image

Tune: Agnes Monica- Karena Ku Sanggup

She'll be going against the Season 3 Winner which is:

Image

Tune: Mor Ve Otesi- Deli

OOC:
Hi Everyone, Lez here!

Thank you for listening to all the songs on this round! And thank you for voting in ALEZIMANIA!
However, after doing the official listenalong and looking at the comments on DISCORD, I felt that this roster is not enough and I need to send better. So, I've decided to make a second round in order to make sure that North Alezia can (hopefully) keep its quality :)

So, I might need your help again, (sorry)
We have two songs to vote on in this second round. The Season Winner vs. The Worldvision Challenger selected by the public.
You can only vote for ONE song per user.
I'll be recording votes from today to Sunday at 5PM WITA or around 8AM GMT/BST (sorry if I'm wrong)
Please vote if you have time to vote :D

See you on the next round, where we'll see the North Alezian Worldvision Star!

World, stop voting now!

Semi Finals 1 & 2 for the Landa vy Polkopiya have both concluded, meaning that it's time to reveal who will be qualifying to the Grand Final for a chance to win one of Polkopia's biggest annual music award shows in the country. The winner of the Landa vy Polkopiya will have the opportunity to represent Polkopia at the Worldvision Song Contest - the largest music competition in the multiverse! This edition, the Landa vy Polkopiya drew interest from twelve different nations, with each of them sending a team of music experts to vote on who was to qualify for the Grand Final. The two qualifying acts from each semi-final are decided in this matter, whereas the Wildcard spot is awarded to a non-qualifying entry that the Polkopian jury feels as if though it deserves a place in the Grand Final. With the four qualifiers and one Wildcard spot, there are to be five acts competing in the Grand Final, each of them vying for the top spot in the competition.

Semi Final 1 Votes:

The following scoreboard shows the results for Semi Final 1. Juries from Beepee, Britonisea, Ertzei Kishim, Malta Comino Gozo, Nekoni, and North Alezia have all voted in this semi-final.

Semi Final 2 Votes:

Congratulations to all of the qualifiers for this edition's Grand Final, set to be held 24 hours from now. Once the Grand Final is finished, we will have a clear and distinct winner as to who will be representing Polkopia at the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. As always, the PNB thanks the participating nations' broadcasters for sharing interest in the Polkopian music scene, and your contribution is well-regarded. The lineup for the Grand Final has been revealed and you can listen to all of the qualifiers' songs below:

The international juries of Beepee, Britonisea, Ertzei Kishim, Malta Comino Gozo, Normandy & Picardy, Pemecutan and Polkopia have deliberated, cogitated and digested all ten of the songs in our semi finals. However, their powers can only advance two entries from each of them. But...who are they?

Image
Image

Whilst the first semi-final is cut and dry, we are faced with an issue with the second semi-final. There is a tie for second place, and in normal circumstances, we would select the best runner up from the jury to progress as a wildcard. However, in the case where there is a second-place tie, the jury vote is foregone, and BOTH entries advance to the final round.

And so, the final 5 for A85OLUTION look like this:

Image
Artist: F-Bombs | Genre: Glam Rock Revival

Image
Artist: Alix Moda | Genre: Synthpop

Image
Artist: Vantablack | Genre: Ska-Punk

Image
Artist: Hawk Hoxton | Genre: 80s Montage

Image
Artist: Elitsa Blanche | Genre: Early-00s Pop

Now we are in the final 5, the voting is simple. 5 points to your favourite, all the way down to 1 for your least favourite. Send your telegrams or Discord private messages to me as before. As the nation that ultimately has to put its flag to the winning entry, Nekoni will be sending a vote for this phase, and it will count double, with 10 points to its favourite down to 2 for its least.

Image

Whether you have a favourite in the final to root for, or sad that a favourite of yours got eliminated, it's clear to see that you have to be in it to make a difference! Now there are five well-liked entries competing against each other, as much as a single point could swing it! You have one week! World, let the final begin!

Artist: Michael Robinson and John Joseph
Song: "Five Minutes Over"
Tune: "Can't Hold Us" - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton

Michael Robinson and John Joseph will represent Mister X at WorldVision 85 with the song "Five Minutes Over", MRX's first ever rap song. Michael Robinson will sing the main chorus, but since we all know white people can't rap, John Joseph has collaborated with Michael on this song.

SEZKTA WINS THE LANDA VY POLKOPIYA

In what would be considered as one of the most exciting voting sequences in the history of the Landa vy Polkopiya, Polkopian group, SEZKTA walked away with the win, narrowly beating Gasolina in order to secure their victory and represent their home country in the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest. In this edition of the competition, artists who participated in earlier editions were invited back to compete with their original songs for a second-chance at winning the Landa vy Polkopiya. The last time this format was used was prior to the 76th edition of Worldvision, where Sergey Borisčev won the LvP and then later, Worldvision, with his song, Praktika. Preparations for the group's performance at Worldvision is set to begin ASAP and the pressure to maintain Polkopia's recent high placings at Worldvsion couldn't be higher. Lev Yašin, one of the group's lead vocalists, expressed his excitement at having been given the chance to perform at Worldvision, "We are very happy. Of course, we can't say anything about [the] performance yet, but it will be something special. I think people are really going to like it."

Host voting for Worldvision opens up on Monday, September 21st at 20:00 BST and the show is set to begin on September 28th. Details about the Polkopian entry can be found below:
