True, but there are still issues that could be brought up (the famous Mall incident for example) and it's a small task to create a sub-forum to let the SC folks discuss

Don't let's threadjack this GA discussion any further. If you want to discuss SC rules, there's always been a thread for it here: viewtopic.php?f=24&t=5182

Posting here to ask permission to start up a topic on possible rules mergers. If I need to wait a few days, that's fine, but if I'm good, the thread will be up today or tomorrow.

I'm doing a series of summary posts on many of the topics (leaving semi-active topics alone). If you disagree with my summary or think I've missed something, post concisely about it. If I've posted that the discussion is unresolved, help me resolve it.

We'll open the floor to new topics / new rules after people have had a chance to digest and respond to the summaries.

Let's knock this out and be done with it!

Did you miss the NatSov repeal discussion summary? There hasn't been any discussion on that one in six days.

When I did the summaries, it was 3 days. And frankly, I got tired of doing summaries and trying to define a consensus when clearly no consensus had been reached. Somebody else can try to make sense of that one if they want. It's like trying to declare a winner in the Abortion debate - it's NEVER happen.

This forum is now open to new threads on player-suggested rules and rule changes. Some prior suggestions:
Glen-Rhodes wrote:I think we should discuss a new rule regarding moderation itself. One that states there must be moderators totally uninvolved in a legality decision, so that those decisions can actually be appealed.
Defwa wrote:There's not a thread on it, but I'd like a word on how we interpret "all nations" and other things regarded as legislating on non WA members.

Let GR and Defwa have a day or so to formulate their post, please. Don't steal their thread ideas.

Kaboomlandia wrote:Posting here to ask permission to start up a topic on possible rules mergers.

I'm not seeing a real need for a separate thread at this point. Make suggestions in the relevant thread where the merged rule would apply, and post a link to your post in the related thread(s).

I looked at it, but it's not actually about GA rules per se. It's also not actually a mod-sponsored thread, so it doesn't really belong in a Mod Rules discussion.

Bump it if you like.

Could I make a thread about adding an abstention option at vote?

Rules are about moderation and illegalities that have to be addressed by human players. Adding a button is a technical discussion that has to be addressed by an admin. It's been suggested before (in the appropriate forum, Technical) and generally ignored or shot down by the admin team.

I know it's been raised before - I was just wondering if it was up for discussion in this process. In any case, thank you for for a prompt and clear reply.

For what it's worth, we haven't forgotten this sub-forum. There are several interested mods, who are currently fully occupied by a combination of real world and technical issues, who still wish to have input here.

Probably the next step will be assembling a new Rules Compendium based on (our opinion of) the best suggestions here, and then commenting on it.

Just a heads up to players: my activity dropped off due to my laptop breaking, and the funds needed to replace that went instead to my tuition at school and vehicle which broke down. Thankfully within the next two or three weeks I should be back up to full speed and I'll do my best to press whatever is left to be done to the finish line.

That presents a bemusing view on how much progress has been made so far. Over half the rules had "no consensus" in Fris's little summary posts.

Indeed, but I knew coming into this that consensus was something that would be rare. I've just posted a very rough draft of a new ruleset for the other mods to view, once we've hammered it out into something we think is acceptable we'll present it for further suggestion here.

I never intended for those to be discussion enders. If somebody wants to try to gain consensus by reopening any of those threads, have at it.

Mallorea and Riva wrote:I've just posted a very rough draft of a new ruleset for the other mods to view

Even within the small team known as GA mods, we don't have consensus. Sometimes you just have to decide that enough is enough, and publish. That's where we are with Mall's draft, which probably looks a lot like my draft would have ... only different.

So what's been the point of any of this? You opened up multiple discussions, virtually ignored all of them - you didn't even make a single contribution to the most contentious rules issue, the MetaGaming rule - and have now written up a private draft, which you could have done anyway? Please don't tell me this entire thing was just to rewrite the Branding rule.
