A good game but could be better.

What's your best card combination? Want to suggest new cards? Maybe organize games? You C.A.N. do all that and more, right here!

I applaud those who were involved with creating this year's April Fools Day thing. However there is a few things that could be improved.

1. Scrolling

When dragging up a card you actually need to scroll thus making it harder for those on computer and impossible for those on iPad.

2. A chat?

It would be nice for a chat box underneath a game. Currently, the way around this is IRC.

3. Automatic move on

Currently, the timer continues running after everyone is done. It should stop and the card czar should be allowed to pick straight away after everyone has put a white card.

4. Listing the games based on how big they were.

I believe that games should be listed on how big they are and not on when they were created. The thing is that you might suddenly be in a very light room when you wanted more people and a heavy room when you wanted less people.

5. Having duplicate's not in play at the same time (from SillyString in another thread)

There should be a way that you won't have duplicate cards in a one time. This is because if you have two of them and you like the answer you still have to choose randomly from the two of them. Recycling cards straight after would be fine.

Finally, not really a idea but a question. Will this be kept available for us after today. It is a wonderful game.

This hopefully might also be able as a massive thread for ideas.

I agree with them all! Especially keeping it after April Fool Day. It seems to still be playable with iPad (for me) but would work better with this.

You can double-click a card instead of dragging it. But this doesn't work on tablets, I think (no double-tap).

It doesn't, but it can seem that way if new players join your game during a round.

It definitely seems to be doing it every single round in the game I'm in, even without players joining or leaving...

I would like to put my vote on keeping it past April Fools, too. Especially if they can put in multi-card options AND a point system.

Great game, but only one problem. It's hard to see the words on the cards in the Dark theme.

Personally, I feel this is perhaps the most lackluster game that you guys have put out. I've been here for quite a few years, and apart from the haxxorz prank (although the fake mods was fun), this is among the worst I have witnessed.

The reasons why that this is lackluster are due to...
  • how inaccessible to those on touch-screens
  • it almost completely rips off a popular game down to the code
  • lacks chat (which takes a lot of time and effort to code)
  • blank cards (understandable due to PG-13 requirements)
  • it has a delay before the Card Czar can choose the cards.
  • Card Czars don't go by the order the player joins in, but instead, the winner becomes Card Czar, unlike the original
  • not a lot of NS-related stuff, compared to just a lot of random and completely unrelated stuff.

Those reasons, in particular, are essentially enough that it is lackluster: if I wanted to play Cards Against Humanity, I'd convince someone to make a NationStates set and add it to the site, and actually play it over there, where there is a chat, where there are blank cards, where it is original, and where the game actually functions the way God intended it to do so.

Compared to Bytecoin or the IPO, or the zombie apocalypse, this leaves quite a lot to be desired. If we had to choose the games that came out on this day to be kept after April 1st, I'd toss this one out with the nuclear waste, some household waste, and then cover it up with radium, before covering that up with soil. I'd much rather have the Bytecoin restored, grazie.

In all honesty, the game has enough NS-related cards that are fun for everyone, instead of being worth a couple of giggles from this one particular region at one point of the World while the others ponder what the hell that certaing thing is.

I enjoyed it for many reasons, mostly the fact that it's something that didn't end up causing massive lag everywhere on the site (i.e. Zombies) and the innocence of the whole concept. Way better than dealing stuff up and down with different puppets or having people wander around trying to get or get rid of god knows what. Sure, the game could use some tinkering, scoring wouldn't hurt and a chat would be a blast to have but it was, at least for the April Fools' I was around to watch, the best one we had. Either that or ByteCoins.
