TEP Controls the Spice, er, Bytes...

Postby Todd McCloud » Wed Apr 02, 2014 3:24 pm

...TEP controls the world. It was fun, folks. TEP is, naturally, best P. But other regions are cool too.

Special thanks to the tireless efforts of British Grand Pacific, Bachtendekuppen, Xoriet, East Malaysia, Hobbes, Aelitia, Prussia, Jurisdictions, and countless others (If I forgot you, please respond or TG me) for coordinating and keeping strong communication throughout. Nice work, folks. It totally was uplifting and inspiring to see that amount of planning go into this.

All in all, it was a fun little game for April Fools. Would be nice to see this come up again. I'm sure we'd be back to defend (defend our money, not actually become a defending region lol).

FYI: We had a secret weapon - caek. Caek fueled us through this event. Caek is amazingly powerful.

No no no, I was referring to the Bytecoin thing itself, since it was supposed to be an April Fools event.

Hence I said I didn't get the joke.

Hence it was dry.

There was some debate about whether the ByteCoin prices were market-driven or just some dumb random algorithm. I can now confirm that a true market mechanism was always the only acceptable option for ByteCoin, up until about March 31 when I realized how hard that was to code. So it was a dumb random algorithm. Except for Titanfall, which was a plan by some big ByteCoin players to try to crash the market by all selling at once, which I caught wind of and simulated to freak them out. That was fun.

I'll quote what I wrote in another thread:

I saw that. But the events from last night had to be an extremely coincidental, perhaps too coincidental for me to believe at this time. We sold, the market dipped. We bought, the market grew. We noticed a change some time early last night.

Like I said, either we were somehow unknowngly working together with Max or we were affecting the market.

You weren't.
He explicitly said the only time he interfered was with the first titanfall.
The rest was an algorithm.

Then our region is better than I thought. We not only managed to beat the system, we did so against a seemingly random algorithm, to the point where we were guessing spot-on. This is indeed a grand day!
