I think a better alternative is for Max Barry to make ByteCoin or a related program his second website. That way the NS servers aren't overloaded, but people who want to play still can. Heck, as its own game it could expand and grow much like NS did. It could be a sister website with its own forums. We could roleplay as businessmen and businesswomen.

Obviously connecting this to NS is a bad idea because it would slow people down. But I wonder if Max has considered the idea that a whole new website could be created just for this.

ByteCoins are great, but I think I prefer the IPO from 2012's April Fools. I also don't remember the game lagging like this that time and I just had a laptop back then. What would be great is if Max took the best aspects of ByteCoins and the IPO and created an entirely new currency system to keep in the game.

I agree with that. It would be cool, but it would have to be easy for new-er players to get rich somehow so Todd, Thafoo etc. don't control the economy.

The lag is also a bit of a problem.

There was some debate about whether the ByteCoin prices were market-driven or just some dumb random algorithm. I can now confirm that a true market mechanism was always the only acceptable option for ByteCoin, up until about March 31 when I realized how hard that was to code. So it was a dumb random algorithm. Except for Titanfall, which was a plan by some big ByteCoin players to try to crash the market by all selling at once, which I caught wind of and simulated to freak them out. That was fun.
