Here you are, Den svenska riket! Sorry for the delay; the site's been very busy, so it's been hard to post. I hope this is suitable, despite our unfamiliarity with your fair nation.

Oh, Norway's pines are tall and fair,
and Finland's lakes are clear,
and every heart in Sweden
still holds their country dear.
Each citizen remembers
that day of great renown:
a peaceful joining of the three
to form the the Triple Crown.
So hail to king and kingdom,
hail to our queen so true;
whenever danger threatens,
we gladly fight for you.
Bedecked with northern beauty
and never conquered yet:
hail to the land that bore us,
hail Den Svenska Riket.
Though we wander the world,
our hearts will not forget;
they point north like the compass
to Den Svenska Riket.

Thanks for introducing me to a new verse form, Whovianites! I'd written rondels before, but never a roundel. And here is yours:

And he returns again to every place
Where he is needed, ready to defend
An alien people or the human race,
And he returns again.

Two hearts still beat, and death is not the end,
Merely a pause; he wears another face,
But those who knew him once greet him as friend.

His wanderings through all of time and space
(Time is not linear and space can bend)
No map in three dimensions could retrace,
And he returns again.

I would like to see a sonnet about Carathius' 106-year-old president Thomas Talbot, clear winner of 18 fully democratic presidential elections, beloved by his supporters, respected by his opponents, who has spent the entirety of his 69-year presidency fighting relentlessly for freedom, equality, and brotherhood in Carathius.

He cares deeply about his people's opinions; note the fact that he has held no less than 88 referendums asking the people to approve the execution of 649 "enemies of the State", "enemies of the public", and "enemies of the President" (they all passed with at least a two-thirds majority).

An impressive record, Carathius. A sonnet is 140 ByteCoins at the new prices (and would have been 14 at the old). My records show that you've given me 10. You can increase your payment, or if you prefer I can return the funds you have already sent me.

Rihiahaoz, I'm not sure I can accept your commission, on the grounds of having no idea what you're talking about. Would you care to elaborate?

The Bananian Republic, you commissioned a haiku for 30 ByteCoins, but you sent me 100. Was that a mistake? I'm happy to return the extra.

Computerised Equality, the Elves of Celebrimbor are slightly confused by the concept of computers, but the Noldor love learning new technology. They are seeking inspiration for your poem now.

I'd like a short, to the point poem of at least 3 lines (2-7 words per line) that sounds completely terrifying, strikes morale in my own troops but terrifies everyone else's. I plan to use this poem, if it is good, on WFEs of regions that my region, The Eternal Knights, raid. That is why it must be short.

I'll gladly pay you 1 million if it is good. I'll submit the basic down payment now, of course, of 10 per line.

Nephmir,

As a member and now delegate of a founderless region, I don't feel comfortable doing that. Your money will be returned.

Disclaimer: The Noldor are unfamiliar with computers and cannot guarantee your results if this system is tried.

For money, status, and the rest
For which society is keen,
Poor humans strive and do their best;
Such matters cannot be addressed
As well by man as by machine.

A citizen is but a pawn
When ruled by human king or queen.
Democracy sways here and yon;
Far better to rely upon
The output of a fine machine.

To set up a well-governed state,
The answer clearly can be seen.
Let democrats and merchants prate –
That country has a better fate
Whose laws are written by machine.

Unmoved by human woes or joys,
Efficient, logical, serene –
No contretemps its calm destroys,
No petty grievance e’er annoys
The far superior machine.

Upset by minor loss or gain,
A man will rant or raise a scene;
Would you equality obtain,
The market and its ways disdain—
It’s better done by a machine.

Now all I have to do is get someone to set it to music next year...

I know the Bytecoin market is closed but I'd still like to put in a request. I saw that you enjoyed poetry inspired by Tolkien, so maybe you can do a terza rima about the Ainur?

Syritannia, it was fun seeing how many poems I could manage to write in a day or two as part of the craziness of April Fools' Day, but I can't turn this into a perpetual request thread -- unfortunately, I simply don't have the time.

But it is a request that fits what I like to write . . . so maybe I can manage one more? I'll see if anything comes to me.

Absolutely no requests after this one, though -- sorry!

You *could* open a general poetry thread open to suggestions for poems,which poetry authors can use,i don't think NSG has that yet

Thank you for the suggestion, but I have other places I habitually go to for writing-related discussion and activities (that not being NS's primary focus).

There's nothing stopping anyone else from doing that, though.
