I learned the hard way to not put all of your eggs in one basket. I sold a third of currency when it was around 5K in the event that it might go further. Practice not going all in all the time.

I usually sell in portions, but doing that a few times in a row tends to result in a "screw this, it's gonna crash anyway" type reaction sooner or later. I guess patience is something I need to learn.

Heh, or even if the market payed $1 for every trillion, they'd still bankrupt the world economy.

I think I just crashed the market. On accident.

I had a bunch of bytecoins from last night, when they were 20, built up. And I sold them.

Oh well. At least I made bytecoins.

The game is ruined. We have people getting funded from TEP entering the leaderboard.

Like seriously?

I'm thinking more and more that players have 0 control over the market.

It's not unrealistic as such, because real cryptocurrencies have been horribly unstable. The issue is that, with real cryptocurrencies, there's only a certain amount of coin that's allowed to exist (bitcoin has an upper limit of 21 million exactly, I believe). It's mined in a random but predictable rate, in that after a certain point in time, all 21 million coins will have been mined and to trade will require a buyer and a seller. The system used in this simulation allows for an arbitrary exponential generation of coins, which is how I just multiplied my holdings 60-fold in ten minutes.

What we're seeing here is comparable more to Zimbabwe than to cryptocurrencies. Rather than controlling the amount of money available, more and more gets 'printed' to meet demand, then people are left holding quintillions of relatively worthless bytecoins.
