Political fallout of Z-Day in YN

What kind of lasting consequences has Z-Day left in your nation, politically?

Ktathria's government is on the verge of collapse. The Empress and her second-in-line have gone into exile and Parliament is in disarray, with the ruling coalition parties looking set for annihilation at the next election (a no-confidence vote had been murmured about but the scheduled election is close at hand anyway so there was no point).

We initially handled the crisis by exterminating the infected, but after wails of protest from some, the state turned to researching a cure instead. But our privatised health service isn't particularly strong, so that did not go well. By the time we called in the army again, the plague had done damage to our nation which will hurt for generations.

Everyone has different reasons for their vociferous fury against the government - some thought extermination was unnecessary and felt we waited too long to try to cure the plague, while the more militant are using it as fuel for renewed demands to increase military spending. But just about everyone blames the administration in some way, and especially with the serving Chancellor saying he will not seek reelection to Parliament it is likely that a big shift is about to take place in the political landscape of Ktathria.

So that's us. How has your government come out of the crisis? Are they heroes for saving your people, or incompetent buffoons for letting it all happen in the first place?

Mzeusia's government reacted swiftly and effectively, using the cure all the way through the crisis. Using nuclear bunkers and other safe areas, people were able to get to safety. A phone line was set up so that people could report zombies in their area, and the airforce took to the skies to monitor zombie activity.

This provided an accurate picture for the ground troops to deliver food, drink and medical attention to people. A cure was developed rapidly and distributed by the military. Volunteers signed up to aid the military it all went rather well.

There were of course casualties, but things could have gotten much worse. On the whole, the outlook for the year-old government is very positive.

Of course invoking the Mzeusian heroes and gods tends to get the patriotic blood stirring, and that was quite a help.

The government of LiberNovusAmericae is intact, as the outbreak in our nation was somewhat minor. Over 99% of our citizens survived; while there was some chaos originally in major cities when a small chunk of citizens were infected, cure missiles from other nations quickly resolved the crisis. As a result there was no significant political fallout, except a significant increase to healthcare funding. It is once again business as usual.

We now have zombies, which will be added to the workforce. Basically, the zombies never went away in Nilrahrarfan.

[Germerica Republic]

Germerica's Government was caught unprepared by the initial outbreaks and by the time the military was able to respond over 500 million people had been infected. President Hamilton declared a national state of emergency and implemented martial law. President Hamilton and the Germerican government decided to cull the amount of infected to low levels to prevent an out of control horde before researching a cure. The capable Germerican military was able to contain the zombies quickly enough at the cost of over 1 billion citizens with around 83 million still infected. The public was horrified by the death toll but understood the necessity for it, though almost all disliked it.

With the zombies contained as far as the Germerican people and Government were concerned the research into finding a cure began and much progress was being made, with the researchers being able to get as far as discovering anti-bodies and beginning to work on a prototype cure. However, disaster struck when the Zombies broke through the military's defensive perimeter and began to infect more citizens. As of now an inquiry into the matter is underway as to how the zombies broke through. In an attempt to stop the zombies infecting the remaining 2.8 billion citizens, President Hamilton authorised the use of all Nuclear, Biological, Chemical and Orbital Kinetic weaponry to wipe out the infected areas, dubbed by the people as the 'Dawn of the End'. The result killed 2 billion people in total and led to mass outcry from the remaining survivors. With the zombies nearly all gone the government continued its research into finding a cure, which was eventually found and administered to the populace.

In the aftermath the military is still sweeping the nation for any zombies not killed or cured for neutralisation. There is much public debate over the measures taken by the Germerican Government about whether it was to hasty to exterminate the instances of infection particularly when it resulted in over 3 billion dead, but sceptics point out that if the government hadn't used every available military resources at its dispersal then there wouldn't have been any survivors to find a cure. There is currently a hearing in the nation's Supreme Court over the President's actions. The Government since has begun a relief effort that is using most the nations resources to achieve as well as attempting to establish contact with other nations after communications ceased during the infection. Life for the people has begun to return to normal, however, there is a visible rise in militarism among the survivors who want to be sure that such a disaster can never occur again, and others who want to disarm the nation's WMD's in response to the 'Dawn of the End' where so many horrors were unleashed upon survivor and infected alike.

Leader Megatron is enjoying a new wave of extreme popularity after having converted 100% of the population to zombie status. This is not because zombies can't think! In fact, Decepticon zombies can think just fine, which is what makes it so great to be one.

Since computer boards do not rot like brains do, we are able to think just fine as undead. Yet, much like biological zombies, we are even harder to kill than usual. We can survive getting holes in our engines, rust on our bodies, and all sorts of other things that would harm or destroy a regular machine.

This makes it so that becoming a zombie is an UPgrade for us. We become nearly invincible, yet as long as we take care of our mind-boards, we lose no cognitive ability.

Needless to say, nobody complains about becoming a zombie here. In fact, most don't even know that it happened until someone blasts them and they're able to keep on going. Of course, we will end up just adapting our weaponry to try to blast our opponents utterly to bits instead of just targeting one or two body parts, but we'll still have a great advantage when raiding other planets.

The Empire of Tenzalore was not affected, exterminating the dead as soon as they appeared. While we lost a couple of million citizens, that is nothing, for the fact that we have over 6 quadrillion (6,000,000,000,000,000) citizens! We would be guaranteed to survive the apocalypse anyway, as while the Z-Virus in The Empire, Chen-7AX was impossible to cure, Human-Gallifreyans (25% of our population) were found immune to it, as their immune system could turn the virus into harmless particles. This Z-Virus was due to the Omega Division, who were attempting to develop a biogenic superweapon (again). They have had all their assets confiscated and are under strict watch by the government and military.

Almost the entire population of Rojava was killed, so we're going to merge with Iraqi Kurdistan and establish the Republic of Kurdistan, in order to repopulate the region Rojava once was.

The Shogunate was quick to react to the emergence of the zombies. Thankfully no citizens were lost and "death squads" weren't needed, though in the chaos of it all a few political agitators in the empire "mysteriously" disappeared and were found later with bullets in their heads. Given the nature of the event it's just been chalked up as "pre-Z-day" deaths and likely suicide. The shogunate as a whole however remains firmly in charge of the Japanese Empire.
