There's one more frontier I've not personally crossed (or seen crossed) in Z-Day. We were rescuing regions going under from hostile zombie invasion, even on the first Z-Day where we had no superweapons. We've seen plenty of zombie regions target and severely cripple or outright destroy the ability of those regions to be cured. But what we've not seen, and what I set out to do this time, was to use nations set to kill to clean down zombie exporting regions, and put them completely out of action, by killing them totally.
I set 60 nations aside for the purpose, and about 8 hours into the event, I sent 6 of them out to a 15 nation region tagged as Z-Day exporters. The zombie killing superweapon works differently to the cure, and it's pretty baller. It's much, MUCH faster on smaller nations, and does not appear to suffer from diminishing returns the way cure missiles do; in fact, for me, anything under 50 million population was a 1 shot total kill, and anything under 250m was a 2 or 3 shot kill, while the larger nations around 2-3 billion were still dealt with at probably twice the speed it would have taken to cure them. For reference, I was using puppets in the 12-15 billion population range, but I'm not sure how much that matters. I hosed them all and got out in less than 10 minutes, while still using the level one specialist forces squads. The main thing preventing me from running around and doing it to every other moderate sized zombie exporting region I could spot was that nations would be cleaned up so fast, it was actually difficult to wrangle multiple puppets to do the job without repeatedly tripping over myself (I've switched to a new method of mass puppet management for this year and I'm not entirely familiar with it yet).
So, if you want to have a lot of fun next Z-Day, set up some puppets to kill, instead of just cure, and go hunt some intentional exporters- you will be shocked at how quickly you can turn the tables. If you merely want to stay on the cure leaderboards and get everyone out safe, I'd still strongly suggest picking a puppet and teaching that one to kill, instead of cure. It's way more effective against the saboteurs, and exporting nations that are 100% killed don't get back up.
