It is a dark time for the Galaxy. Divided between the democratic ALLIANCE and the despotic COALITION, citizen's of numerous worlds live in fear of a resumed war, and the devastation it would bring. With both sides exhausted by nearly a decade of war, and with billions dead, and countless more fleeing into neutral systems, it seems that the Galaxy is ripe for new leadership.

Having been turned on by their own people after the horror's of the war they lead, the JEDI ORDER has been abolished, and their remaining members hunted down by ALLIANCE and COALITION troops, as the FORCE, and those who use it have come to be viewed with disdain and anger.

Working behind the scenes, the ONE SITH are once more plotting a return to power. Having been driven out of power in the Galaxy some sixty years prior, they now scheme to return the Dark Side to prominence. Lead by a mysterious new Master, the SITH have became enmeshed in the corridors of power once more, secretly biding their time, and waiting for their chance to once more reign supreme in the Galaxy.

Poised on the edge of the abyss, ALLIANCE and COALITION negotiators meet on the space station known as the CRUCIBLE, where they hope to renegotitate a fair and eternal peace, unknowing the danger both civilizations are in...

Introduction
Welcome everyone!

I'm Jedi, and this is my latest reboot of Star Wars: A Final Hope.

For those of you who may not have heard of the previous iteration of this RP, this is a sand box style RP set in the Star Wars: Legends universe. With this in mind, we will be using the pre-Disney plot line that included the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the Jacen Solo story arc, the rise of Darth Krayt and much more, as canon.

This new time frame has never really been explored, so we have a whole new canvas to try our hand at. A brief history of the Galaxy since 139 ABY will be provided later.

Basically, what I am hoping to create here is a free flowing, living, RP world, where we have numerous characters, plot lines, and objectives that merge into one coherent story.

Help me _____, you're my only hope
With the scale of this RP, I am going to need some help! Co-ops that would like to join in can TG me to apply, but almost more importantly, we need several major characters to move the plot along. They are:

The Exiled Jedi Grandmaster
The Dark Lord of the Sith
The Leader of the Coalition
The Leader of the Alliance

These four characters are really going to be the main drivers of the RP. If you want your character to be any of these, your APP will have to be exceptionally detailed and well crafted, even above the normal benchmark. Experienced players are also preferred here.

Rules
1.) I am the OP, and my word is final. The same goes for CO-OP's.
2.) Standard site rules apply, not Godmodding, metagaming etc etc.
3.) Strive to write good quality posts, one liners are a no no.
4.) Be creative
5.) Have FUN, you are expected to create your own story lines, for feel free to experiment.

A Brief Analysis of the Galactic Powers
The Coalition
A military dictatorship where real power is shared between several important Generals, Admirals and Bureaucrats. They are "officially" democratic, and are lead by a Consul, who is elected from the Coalition Tribunal. Both the Consul and Tribunal are merely ceremonial, however.

Real power is held by members of the night Coalition military and intelligence services, who jockey for power via plots, schemes, and outright violence. The Four Commissariat's are one of the few organizations within the official Coalition government that can claim to be legitimately in control of their respective branches, though their influence has almost eclipsed that of the military branch in recent years. The Four Commissariat's are 1)Foreign Intelligence 2) Domestic investigation 3)Force User Task Force and 4) Technological Procurement and Development.

The Coalition Fleet is primarily made up of vessels that are akin to those of the Old Empire, and continue to utilize the triangular hull design that has proven so effective.

The Coalition Army is a mixed bag of clones, willing volunteers, conscripts, and prisoners. They are known for their brutality and their incredibly barbaric practices. Their primary advantage is in numbers rather than organization.

The Coalition does not have a permanent capital, rather, its headquarters is located aboard a massive space station at the heart of the Maw Cluster, known as The Leviathan. The massive station is a sprawling metropolis and is well defended by the Coalition Fleet. The Consul and Tribunal are housed here.

The Galactic Alliance
Born out of the ashes of the New Republic, the Galactic Alliance is a democratic organization, based on the old core world of Coruscant. The Alliance is a representative democracy and holds freedom and civil rights dear.

The primary legislative body of the Alliance is the Senate. It is comprised of one senator from every planet in the Coalition. These Senators can then elect a Chancellor to be the de facto head of the Alliance.

The Alliance Military is small but well organized, relying on quality of quantity. It's utilizes light, fast ships, and fighter forces over the Star Cruisers of their Coalition enemies.

Similarly, the Alliance Military is entirely volunteer based, but I'd put through rigorous training and testing, allowing each soldier to become more dangerous than many other fighting groups.

The Jedi and Sith
The Force is viewed with widespread suspicion and hostility by most non-sensitive denizens of the Galaxy. Both the Sith and Jedi are reviled, though, for different reasons.

The Jedi are the public face of the Last Great War between the Coalition and the Alliance, and, as Generals for the latter, lead many of the most devastating and costly campaigns of the War. With the Vulpter Armistice, the Order was declared illegal and dissolved. The few Jedi who remain are scattered in covens around the Galaxy.

The Sith are still hated for the actions of Darth Krayt and his One Sith regime some 70 years ago, and for the pain they inflicted on the Galaxy. Since Darth Krayt's fall however, no Sith has been seen, and many believe they are all dead. Despite this hope, they have in fact been recruiting disciples and agents, planting moles in the Governments of both the Alliance and Coalition, and some even say shaping the Last Great Wars conclusion.

Galactic History from 139 ABY to the Present Day (The Long Version)
139 ABY - The Galactic Triumvirate is formed, as power in the Galaxy is shared between the Fel Empire, the Galactic Alliance, and the Jedi Order. The One Sith are forced into hiding.

144 ABY- Empress Fel is assassinated by mysterious actors, causing a power vacuum and a civil war within the Fel Empire.

146 ABY- The Galactic Alliance and Jedi Order move to restore order to the Fel Empire, causing a multi front war with various parties.

154 ABY- The Galactic Alliance forces succeed in subjugated much of Imperial space, but at a great cost. The remaining Imperials concentrate on defending their few remaining strongholds as their civil war fades into a resistance movement.

160 ABY- The Galactic Alliance attempts to seize the last remaining Imperial Worlds at the urging of the Jedi Council.

161 ABY- The Alliance is heavily defeated after a botched invasion of Imperial space. Several secessionist worlds join what remains of the Fel Empire and become the Coalition, a united, autocratic government.

163 ABY- The Coalition and Alliance sign a peace treaty, limited the Coalition to the Outer Rim, and setting military restrictions on their production.

173 ABY- A decade of Peace is broken when a group of Jedi discover the rapid mobilization of Coalition forces around the Galaxy. A preemptive strike by Alliance forces are rebuffed with heavy losses. War between the Alliance, Jedi and the Coalition begins.

177 ABY- Coalition forces penetrate the Mid Rim.

180 ABY- Fighting seeps into the Core Worlds, as the Jedi and Alliance forces are hard pressed to hold back the Coaltion. War weariness begins to grow within the Alliance, as does distrust of the Jedi.

182 ABY- A Jedi Strike team succeeds in defending the world of Commenor, stemming the tide of the War.

184 ABY- Alliance forces are able to hold the line in the Expansion Region, but suffer extreme losses against the Coalition onslaught. The Coalition begins anti-Jedi propaganda.

185 ABY- The Alliance suffers a crushing defeat at Eriadu as a Jedi lead counter attack is ambushed and destroyed by Coalition forces.

186 ABY- Protests within the Alliance against the War and the Jedi leadership of it begin. Several planets force the Jedi to leave their worlds. The Alliance enters talks with the Coalition.

187 ABY- The Vulpter Armistice is ratified between the Coalition and Alliance, dividing the Galaxy into two halves. A clause in the treaty bans the Jedi Order, and Alliance/Coalition troops purge the Jedi from the Galaxy. The Jedi Order attempts to go into hiding.

189 ABY- The bulk of the remaining Jedi are slaughtered on Telos IV in a brutal last stand against Alliance and Coalition forces. Some Jedi flee, and hide among many different systems, though a large coven founds a secret Temple on Ilum.

190 ABY- The Carida Concordant is signed, officially ending the War, and silencing the Jedi. This begins the watchful peace between the Coalition and Alliance. The Concordat must be resigned every 10 years.

192 ABY- A series of disappearances and bombings occur through the Coalition. No one is ever found suspect.

195 ABY- The Chancellor of the Alliance is assassinated, a mysterious figure escapes Coruscant, though witnesses claim he bore a crimson lightsaber.

200 ABY- Negotiations for the resigning of the Carida Concordat begin on the Crucible.

Galactic History from 139 ABY to the Present Day (The Short Version)
Essentially, what has occurred since the fall of Darth Krayt is another terrible Galactic War between the Alliance/Jedi and the Coalition. The War became a stalemate the Jedi were largely blamed for the Alliance's poor performance and were abolished by popular demand. The Sith are working behind the scenes in both the Alliance and Coalition, and are working to destabilize or take over both. That's about it.

Final Notes

With regard to how this RP will function, there are several options. If we get sufficient interest, I will create a discord channel and we will move the majority of OOC and post development to that arena. Until then, feel free to use this thread or TG me directly with questions.

If you would like to be even more involved than that, you could offer your services as a Co-Op. I may not need one right away, but if all goes well and we have a lot of interest, then I may need the extra help.

Thanks for reading, I hope this interests you enough to drop a TAG or better yet, an APP!

The APP
Name: Trajan Fane
Age: 57
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: The Coalition
Rank: Grand Moff
Appearance: WIP
Personality: Dignified, diligent and decent, Trajan Fane is, in his own mind at least, the very model of a Coalition officer. Cultured, yet serious, Fane is highly intelligent and educated and shows greater concern for those under his command than can be seen elsewhere in the Coalition hierarchy. He is also more in favour of racial equality and, despite his own high birth, deeply committed to meritocracy service.
Force Sensitive: N
Skills/Powers: An extremely skilled administrator and politician, Fane is well known for being a master of logistics and long-term strategy. As a lifelong military officer, he is also well versed in combat, being a crack shot with his standard issue blaster. Unlike many of his colleagues in the Coalition, he has a unique ability to inspire devotion in his men.
Weaponry: One standard issue Imperial blaster pistol
Ship: The Defiance - and Imperious Class Star Destroyer
Biography: Born on Serenno in 144 ABY to a wealthy aristocratic family, Trajan Fane was the third son of Count Hiro Fane. His wealth and position in society ensure that the young Trajan received a privileged upbringing, steeped in manners, etiquette and the idea of noblesse oblige. He swiftly became a student of history and was particularly fascinated by the development and collapse of autocratic authorities. While at University on Serenno, his final thesis posited a repudiation of the Tarkin Doctrine and of the broader strategy of Palpatine's Empire in general.

His studies enhanced his ambition, ambition that would not be sated on his homeworld. At the age of 21 he applied to join the Coalition Military Academy as one of their first class of cadets since the cessation of ghr first war against the Galactic Alliance. Fresh from their relatively surprising victory over the Alliance, the Coalition rapidly expanded its military, providing significant room for advance for young officers like Trajan Fane. Rather than the more original navy, or the relatively ill-equipped army, Fane entered the Coalition Marines and was rapidly promoted due to his evident competence and discipline.

Just 8 years after his academy graduation, the now Major Fane was serving as Aide-de-Camp to Grand Moff Arich Host, one of the Coalition's premier figures. When war broke out once again between the Alliance and Coalition, Fane was with the Grand Moff on the front lines, coordinating much of thr logistics and supply lines for his mentors sector.

With Host's fleet leading the way, Coalition forces penetrated the mid-rim, capturing several Alliance systems. Throughout the early days of the war, Fane was exposed to the brutality of the conflict, which he thoroughly disapproved of. Despite this, he steered clear of open objection, and was promptly promoted to Colonel and commander of all the Marine's attached to Grand Moff Host's fleet.

In this role, Fane made a name for himself both as a disciplined officer and one that avoided casualties where necessary. Cautious and diligent, Fane frequently butted heads with Coalition high command and increasingly with the ever more brutal and unhinged tactics of Grand Moff Host. In 184, with the war still trending towards the Coalition, Host hatched a scheme to assault Commenor to secure a beach head into the Core Worlds. The Alliancd was ready for them, however, and a Jedi led strike force ambushed the Grand Moff and his fleet, including Colonel Fane's marine corps. As the battle raged and Host's flagship was disabled, Fane refused to commit further men to a fight that was evidently already lost, sealing the fate of his mentor who was killed shortly after.

While Commenor was a deep stain on the pride of the Coalition, the rear guard action fought by Colonel Fane and his troops won praise from the Coalition Tribunal, much to tjd chagrin of the navy, who had lost significant assets during the battle. Fane was promoted to Major General and hoped for a new post close to the front lines. Instead, he was dispatched to Eriadu and was placed in charge of the local garrison. While not a prestigious post, it was an auspicious one, for, emboldened by their victory at Commenor, the Alliance struck out in a bold attack - aimed for Eriadu.

Fane's disciplined and fortified ground forces made short work of any Alliance craft that got past the Coalition Navy and Fane, despite having a fairly minor role, was again feted for his work in turning around Eriadu from provincial capital to true fortress. He was promoted to full General shortly thereafter and joined Coalition High Command as Director of Military Planning, Supply, and Logistics. On this role, he excelled, and served out the remainder of the War.

With the signing of thr Vulpter Armistice and Carida Concordat, the war ended in stalemate. Fane at this point considered retirement - his service to the Coalition had been long and distinguished. And at 46, he was approaching middle age with no family nor personal life. Coalition High Command however did not wish to lose such an evidently skilled officer, and so appointed him into the governorship with the rank of Moff, deploying him first to Bastion, and then as Grand Moff to Eriadu. The latter posting has, over the last five years, allowed Fane to amass immense wealth and political clout. He is widely recognized as a leading Coalition figure, with significant forces at his disposal.

Having made his home on Eriadu, Fane married the daughter of a wealthy industrialist, Deena Ora, and has since had two young sons, Ardus and Gideon.

The APP
Name: Silla Hathor
Age: 46
Gender: Female
Allegiance paid to: Jedi Order (Defunct)
Rank: Jedi Master
Appearance: WIP
Personality: Cynical and weary after a decade on the run, Silla is a cautious woman. Highly intelligent her experiences in the war taught her the meaning, and rarity, of trust. She is loyal to a fault, passionate, and protetictive of those she views as innocent. She bears a deep resentment against the Galaxy at large for the purge of Force sensitives.
Force Sensitive: Y
Skills/Powers: A Lannik Battlemaster, Silla Hathor has a working knowledge of every form of lightsaber combat. However, due to her short stature and limited reach, she has specialized in Form IV: Ataru and Form V: Shien. With their acrobatic maneuvers and sweeping blade work, this has allowed Silla to compensate for her physical failings. She is a highly aggressive duelist, focusing on speed and precision to overwhelm her foes.

As a Battlemaster, Silla's primary focus has been on martial prowess, and while her force abilities are advanced, she does not frequently exercise the traditional skills of telekinesis or telepathy unless absolutely necessary. She has spent her ime investing in physical force augmentation, ensuring she is faster and tougher than her appearance may suggest as well as her skill with the Battle Meditation technique, a skill used frequently through her time as a Jedi General.
Weaponry: A single bladed green lightsaber with an Ilum Crystal.
Ship: The Talon
Biography: Born on Lannik in 156 ABY, Silla Hathor had a very traditional childhood for a Jedi. Taken by the Seeker's upon the realization that she was indeed Force Sensitive, Silla attended the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and made a name for herself as a particularly difficult, headstrong, and passionate youngling. Her penchant for getting into fights with her classmates and her distaste for authority made her few friends, and there was an increasing worry among the Council that she would be forced into the Service Corps.

Luckily, on her 12th birthday, Silla was on by the Togrutan battlemaster Tar Marik as his padawan. Marik was an unorthodox Master, preferring field assignments to the qhiet tutelage of Temple masters. He and his Padawan traversed the Galaxy, often without the Council's leave to do so. Both Jedi became well known in the Outer Rim, the scourge of pirates, smugglers, and slavers alike. Silla's experiences in the Outer Rim gave her an exceptionally strong moral centre, one that saw good and bad and few shades between.

When war broke out between the Alliance and the Coalition, Silla and her Master relished the opportunity to lead Alliance forces against their foes. The pair, spent much of the early war attempting to hold the few Alliance bastions left in the Outer Rim, a guerilla campaign that saw them finally besieged after some years on the icy world of Mygeeto.

Among Mygeeto's spire cities, Silla and her Master spent 3 years with their men living in squalid, horrific conditions, always wary of the Coalition forces hunting them. It was during this period that her Master was killed when Coalition forces, tired for the diversion that Mygeeto was proving to be, carpet bombed the planet, leaving it a desolate wasteland.

With Coalition forces withdrawing, Silla led what remained for her forces back to Alliance space, where the once thought dead jedi was lauded for her and her troops dedication to the cause. She was promoted to Jedi Knight without passing the trials in 181 ABY.

As a Jedi General, Silla became known for her aggressive, bold tactics that relied on power and brute force to defeat her enemy. High casualties proved to be a consequence, but few disagreed openly with the Jedi due to her evident success in halting the Coalition forces advance into the Mid Rim.

While absent from the Battle of Commenor, Silla was assigned alongside Grand Master K'Kruhk to help lead the Senate's ill conceived assault on Eriadu. In the subsequently catastrophic battle, Silla, in command of the Alliance's fighters, was shot down and forced to crash land on the planet itself. She was apprehended by the forces loyal to Coalition General Trajan Fane and imprisoned for some years, learning nothing of the outside world.

The APP
Name: Korven Daal
Age: 29
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: Jedi Order/Himself
Rank: N/A (Smuggler and Mercenary)
Appearance:
Personality: Gruff, debauched, and irascible, with a pained past. He is arrogant and a drunk, but is a highly effective mercenary. He is reckless, though determined, and while he is incredibly selfish, the only person he thinks of other than himself his his sister, Illia
Force Sensitive: N
Skills/Powers: An expert shot, with skills on hand to hand combat. He is also a well trained pilot, and is more than happy behind the helm of a star ship. He is quick on the draw and unafraid to kill.
Weaponry: Two Dl-44 Heavy blaster pistols, a vibro knife, several different grenades, such as explosive, gas, and EMP.
Ship: WIP
Biography: Born and raised alongside his sister on Corellia, Korven Daal was the father figure in his sisters life, Illia, while their father Gorm was off fighting in the long war against the Coalition. Korven idolized his father and the Alliance military, where he dreamed of becoming a fighter pilot. Despite these dreams, Korven and his sister had to fight for scraps in the Corellian underworld, where Korven began to learn the trade of thievery and sneaking. He became involved at a very young age with drugs and crime, and was teetering at the edge of death when a passing Jedi noticed his sisters Force Sensitivity and took both Korven and Illia to the Jedi Temple. While Illia was trained as a Jedi Knight, Korven was inducted in the Temple Security Force.

While in the Force, Korven learned of his fathers death at the Battle of Commenor. This horrifying experience lead to a downward spiral for Korven, who grew disillusioned with the Jedi, the Alliance, and authority itself. Escaping into the Coruscanti underworld, Korven became involved with several gangs, and became addicted to Death Sticks, and wasted most of his meagre income on weaponry, spice, death sticks, and prostitutes. In this spiral, Korven became a smuggler extraordinaire, stealing several vessels before coming across the Crusader. An ancient ship that appeared to be falling apart, the large engines of the ship allows to to outrun any vessels it cannot outgun.

Working as a smuggler alongside his astromech droid R7-S5, also known as Rezzy, Korven lived a life of debauchery and, after big jobs, wealth. However, as his life picked up in danger, Korven kept an eye on the failing Jedi Order. When Force Users were outlawed in the wake of the Vulpter Armistice, Korven began searching for his sister. Finally, when the Jedi attempted to regroup on the ancient academy world of Telos IV, Korven went to intercept the group, hoping to find his sister. The Crusader arrived at Telos IV just in time, as the Alliance and Coalition fleets both attacked the Jedi Conclave. Flying through the battle, Korven rescued both his sister and a handful of other Jedi, before fleeing back into hiding.

In the intervening ten years since then, Korven has worked with Illia as her partner and pilot, using his connections with the criminal underworld to his advantage.

The APP
Name: Illia Daal
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Allegiance paid to: Jedi Order
Rank: Jedi Knight
Appearance: WIP
Personality: Calm, and incredibly kind, she has a certain naive innocence. She is passionate about life and protecting it at all costs, and is empathetic and sweet, with a bright smile and a happy demeanor
Force Sensitive: Y
Skills/Powers: A fully fledged Jedi Knight, Illia Daal was trained in the arts of the Force since birth. She has chosen to focus on Form III: Soresu as her chosen lightsaber style. She is a capable duelist, combative force wielder. Her force powers range from the usual telekinetic abilities all Jedi have, to more obscure utilizations of the force. She has shown promising skill with Force Heal, and her telepathic abilities are advanced for her age. Despite her skills, she lacks true combat experience, and is more used to intelligence operations, hit and run attacks, and combating pirates and thugs rather than true soldiers.
Weaponry: WIP
Ship: N/A, utilizes the Crusader alongside her brother.
Biography: Born on Corellia in 176 ABY, Illia was practically raised by her brother. Her father, an Alliance Naval Officer, was off on the front lines of the war fighting the Coalition, while her mother died giving birth to her. Korven and Illia had to survive on the meagre amount of money their father could send home, and whatever scraps of food they could steal from the local vendors. Her brother taught Illia resourcefulness and ingenuity but often found herself uncomfortable with his methods, even at an early age. When she was 4 years old, a passing Jedi realized she was force sensitive, and took both her, and her brother, to the Jedi Temple.

While she was trained as a Jedi, her brother lacked her connection to the Force, and was brought up within the ranks of Temple security. In 184 ABY, Gorm Daal, Illia and Korven's father, was killed at the Battle of Commenor. Korven, who always had hoped to see their father again was broken, and left the Temple in anger, blaming the Jedi for the War and Gorm's death. A troubled Illia decided to remain at the Temple to finish her trianing.

After the defeat at Eriadu, Illia was finally taken on as a Padawan, to Master [Insert PC]. Illia became a promising Jedi and often accompanied her Master in the latter days of the War. Despite her devotion to the Jedi, Illia remained hopeful that her brother would one day return, and that they may reconcile their differences. After the signing of the Vulpter Armistice, Illia, aged only 13, followed her Master into hiding.

When Ek-Marai called a Jedi Conclave on Telos IV, Illia in journeyed to the meeting. When Alliance and Coalition forces descended on the Jedi, Illia and her Master were able to gather a group of their compatriots and flee. Despite this, hundreds of Jedi were still killed, and Illia would have joined them had it not been for thr arrival of her brother, who had heard of the Conclave and gone to rescue his sister.

In the intervening decade since the Telos Massacre, Illia was knighted, and joined her Brother on many missions around the Galaxy. As one of the few Jedi trusted by (Insert PC) to operate in the field, Illia is forced to hide her force abilities aside from the most dire combat situation, as her Jedi heritage would almost immediately make her for death.

Hey Ormata

In this timeline, I'd expect they would have been dissolved shortly after the assassination of Empress Fel. Had they existed further, I would imagine they would have been caught up in the general anti-Force sensitive fervor that destroyed the Jedi after the loss at Eriadu.

Big oof, but fair. I suppose the vast majority would have gone to ground or died at this point.

How open-ended is the status of Mandalore?

Probably a mix of the Legends and Canon story here. A world in recovery, certainly not Old Republic Mandalore.

Still in recovery? The last time Mandalore itself was attacked, as far as Legends seems, was 41 ABY (though that was a failed virus bombing with a modified FG36 it seems). Did it get thwacked during the time between 137 ABY and 200 ABY? By who?

Mandalore suffered significant hardship under the old Empire and Yuuzhan Vong, and indeed, the Jedi-Sith War.

I'll add specific details about its role in the more recent conflict if you have interest in playing a character from there.

The significant hardships there are really, really old news though. I get that reconstructing the damage there takes a long time but it seems a bit much. I'd say it had kept out from the Sith-Imperial War myself, but that's up in the area.

What I'm thinking of Mandalore being, now, is this. Maybe it is at a pre-Clone Wars / Galidraan level now in terms of population (both total and trained military), with a notable fleet of two or so larger battlecruisers (Larger than the Keldabes with more energy density), a half dozen ISD-sized, maybe a dozen cruisers or so. Orbital facilities are present for shipbuilding, with metal coming both planetside (For Beskar) and offworld (I'm thinking Taris, from the ruined cityscape areas). Foodstuffs for the total population need to be imported, also from Taris and other nearby worlds.

At this point, a part of me is less interested in playing a role as a Grand Admiral with the Coalition, I don't really want to play the isolated (relatively) Jedi Grandmaster or the head of the Alliance, and I don't feel up to the task of doing the Sith, so I'm looking at playing the Mand'alor. I'd do the Hutts, but really that'd be three times I've played as a head of one of the Families and that also seems like a bit much.

During the Jedi-Sith war, there was much infighting between Mandalorians, and if I am recalling correctly, they ended up pulling out of the conflict and returning to an isolationist stance in order to protect themselves further and help rebuild.

I'm less worried about the military strength issue - this is mainly supposed to be a political/character driven RP not a factional one in any case.

If you want to pitch a character as Mand'alor, be my guest. I would just say that even with the most generous version of lore, Mandalore is not the power that it used to be.

Cough, Jedi-Sith war was ancient BBY, I think you're thinking of Sith-Imperial War. Infighting appears to be isolated to the Battle of Botajef, where one Mandalorian was killed and Hondo Karr left for dead with "the majority of Mandalorian forces" leaving with Yaga Auchs back to Mandalore. I don't think there were massive casualties due to that event, nor would there be really big issues happening afterwards. Here's an idea though.

Idea for a character would be one who, upon Yaga Auchs return and the eventual confrontation by Karr (at which point, Auchs dies and Karr extremely wounded) took control and the title of Mand'alor and rapidly 180'ed back into a stance of support for the Alliance in the war. The result of that would be Auchs's unknown master unleashing several bombings on Mandalore, to include orbital infrastructure, causing havoc in the industrial boom as well as some amount of humanitarian issues with starvation and the like. Lots of rationing and sadness involved. This character would blame the Imperials for the matter, of course, and attempt to rally with the Alliance to provide aid.

The rest of the history as you've laid it out would remain the same. Mandalore would rebuff Imperial efforts to take it, though at great cost with further cements the world as "recovering". Mandalore would exit the war officially in 186 ABY.

Yes the Sith-Imperial War was what I was referring to.

I'll put some thought behind it and circle back. I'm not sure that fits with how the timeline frames up, plus any other machinations - Sith induced or otherwise - that might occur since the dall of Darth Krayt.

Looks interesting. Thinking of joining as Chancellor of the Alliance; a believer in peace with the Coalition who believes domestic development should take priority over costly wars and someone who is hostile towards Force users in general.

The APP
Name: Ignatius Liongant
Age: 53
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: Galactic Alliance
Rank: Chancellor of the Galactic Alliance
Appearance:

Image

Personality:

Ignatius is an austere, workaholic man. He wasn't always like that: in the past, he used to be a party-going playboy but a violent incident changed him; he cut back on the alcohol and partying, and instead focused all his energies first on his studies and then on rising to the top echelons of the Galatic Alliance. Ignatius is highly ambitious, bordering on narcissism. He feels entitled to power and influence due to his family history.

Publicly, Ignatius presents himself as a champion of the people, an advocate for peace and social justice. Privately, though, he is ruthless and amoral in his desire for power and glory. A charismatic orator, he is able to rally crowds and persuade Senators to back him: he makes use of well-paid pollsters, HoloNet presenters, and myriads of advisors to present to the outside world the image of a man of the people and say all the right things. A calculative man, he is cautious and considers all possibilities before undertaking risky actions.

Force Sensitive: No
Skills/Powers:

Populist orator: Ignatius is able to deliver fiery speeches in the Senate that appeal to public opinion and even his opponents cannot argue that he is charismatic.

Machiavellian politician: Ignatius knows how to play the political game. He is not beyond spreading fake news about his opponents, offering patronage to supporters, and striking opportunistic alliances to further his own political standing.

Political scion: Ignatius, being the son of two former Senators and a scion of a prestigious political dynasty, has wealth and elite connections that helped propel him to the highest office.

Weaponry: None, but when in public he is accompanied by bodyguards
Ship (If you have one):

Ignatius makes use of ships belonging to the Office of the Chancellery of the Galactic Alliance.

Biography:

Ignatius Liongant was born to Senators Sammmar Liongant and Ayliken Pasedg in 147 ABY. Ignatius had a privileged upbringing. The Liongant family had produced numerous Senators and its lineage could be traced back to the era of the New Republic. His father, Sammmar, was Senator for Coruscant (and briefly Chancellor at one point). Thanks to his family's wealth, Ignatius could afford a good education. As a young man, he gained a reputation as an intelligent and diligent - if somewhat of a playboy and party-goer - student. As the son of two important Senators and the only heir to such a prestigious political dynasty, Ignatius was able to get away with drunken brawling and disorderly behavior, which only encouraged him to behave even more recklessly. All that changed when during a drunken fit of rage he almost killed one of his best friends. Ignatius quit alcohol and partying, and focused entirely on his studies: his sense of entitlement though and belief that due to his upbringing he deserved power and respect did not go away.

After graduating from one of the most prestigious academies of Coruscant, Ignatius joined the Galactic Alliance's diplomatic corps. During the war with the Coalition, he had to assume a number of important diplomatic missions, domestically to shore up support for the Alliance war effort and externally to gain allies. He gained a reputation for his rhetorical abilities, quick-thinking, and diligence. This, and his family connections and wealth of course, meant he was able to rapidly rise through the ranks and become a high-ranking diplomatic officer.

Initially a supporter of the war effort, his tune changed when public opinion was beginning to turn against the Jedi and the war. Sensing the incoming domestic change, he aligned himself with pro-peace diplomats and politicians. With the crushing defeat at Eriadu, Ignatius broke protocol and publicly spoke out about the need to negotiate with the Coalition. Pro-war Senators and Jedi attacked Ignatius for undermining the war effort, effectively making him a household name. Despite calls for him to be removed from the diplomatic corps, Ignatius was able to retain his position.

Ignatius was instrumental in the signing of the Vulpter Armistice, which earned him considerable popularity among the public who longed for peace after years of bloody war. He was also a signatory of the Carida Concordant. In 191 ABY, Ignatius published his memoirs from the war: 'An Advocate for Peace'. With the help of professional ghostwriters, his memoirs presented him as a man who - deeply affected by the human cost of the war - played a crucial role in securing peace with the Coalition against the wishes of 'warmongers' and 'weapons' dealers'. The popularity of his memoirs earned him even further popular support. Ignatius also publicly met with important figures of the pro-peace protests (that had taken place before the Carida Concordant) and with crippled veterans of the war, further cementing his image as an activist.

Following in his father's footsteps, Ignatius became a Senator in 192 ABY. His political agenda focused on "peace, prosperity, and development": instead of expansion outward, he claimed that the Galatic Alliance needed to focus inward on developing the economy, building up infrastructure damaged from the long decades of wars, and delivering well-paying jobs and robust social welfare for citizens. He also expressed his distrust towards Force users in general. He blamed Force users for the endless wars between Sith and Jedi that for thousands of years had ravaged the Galaxy, and argued that without Jedi and Sith there would be peace and prosperity in the Galaxy. That was in tune with public opinion as most non-sensitive denizens of the Galaxy viewed Force users with suspicion.

In 195 ABY, the Chancellor of the Alliance was assassinated. With the Senate fractured between competing factions, a succession of highly unstable governments followed with Chancellors lasting only a few months before being forced to resign. Ignatius saw a chance to claim the highest of offices. He used his family fortune to hire the best advisors, pollsters, and political analysts. In a series of interviews on the HoloNet, he presented himself as a reformist politician who could end the instability and bring once again prosperity: as someone who cared about the plight of the common folk while the political elites were bickering over offices. It helped that many of the journalists conducting the interviews were friendly to his political campaign (due to his family's connections) and asking softball questions. He also uploaded videos of himself cooking or playing with his children, trying to present himself as a more relatable and laid-back type of politician in contrast to many overtly formal Senators.

Aside from interviews and videos, Ignatius also worked in the background to gain support for his person. Utilizing both his popular appeal and the political connections of his family, he managed to strike a number of deals with important Senators, promising that if elected Chancellor he would offer them a number of benefits (privileged access to his office, increased funding for their home worlds, political patronage for their family members and important associates, etch). He also managed to get the support of leading industrialists, promising them concessions, government subsidies, and highly-lucrative government contracts. Ignatius utilized his connections in the HoloNet to spread dirt about his potential rivals. Even if those accusations turned out to be false, the damage to the reputation of those politicians crippled their chances to seek the Chancellorship. Last but not least, he brazenly faked an assassination attempt on his person, which earned him public sympathy.

In 198 ABY, Ignatius was elected Chancellor. His election was highly controversial, as the war hawks of the Senate accused him of being a traitor for his actions during the war and the signing of the Carida Concordant. Nevertheless, Ignatius had managed to cajole together a coalition of centrist, pro-populists, pro-peace, and pro-industrialist Senators that elevated him to the highest of offices. His cabinet was equally diverse, with cabinet posts being handed out as rewards to his most prominent supporters (regardless of their talents - or lack therefore).

Since his election, Ignatius has been pushing for the resigning of the Carida Concordat and the promotion of economic growth. He has also engaged in less than legal actions, such as handing over lucrative government contracts to his industrialist allies and accepting bribes which he then uses to buy support for his government in the Senate and the HoloNet. He's also been wiretapping both his cabinet and his allies in the Senate, to gain leverage over them in any negotiations and blackmail them if necessary. His critics accuse him of being a pushover willing to make concessions to the Coalition in order to ensure peace at all costs. Yet others accuse him of populist tendencies and a desire to centralize the Alliance for personal gain. Ignatius has been more than willing to respond to his opponents, accusing them of being obstructionists, elitists, warmongers, corrupt, and 'enemies of the people'. For now, Ignatius retains both popular support and a stable - albeit slim - majority in the Senate.

RP Example:

1960s Political RP
SW RP as Darth Vader
Historical RP
Another SW RP

Notes:

Ignatius is married to Melale Safsty, the daughter of an important Senator. The marriage was primarily a political act pushed by Ignatius' father, but the couple is happy and have two male children (12-year-old Caizan and 9-year-old David).

I think I will app as the Tribunitial Guard, an SS or Gestapo-like organisation which is in charge of security aboard the Crucible, but which also provided intelligence and (high level) law enforcement services. They are part of the bureaucratic structure a Moff needs to get on their side to win effective control over the Coalition, and are a tool of internal terror. Still, they can always be bought, and of course they have to go with the flow of power or risk being broken. So not kingmakers, but very much an organisation of survivors in an otherwise hostile work environment.

Intresting

Can we register organizations functioning as finlandized (or not) satellite states of one of the two major players? Specifically I wanted to register my (totally not abandoned) fanon Unknown regions semi-Empire (of course it doesn’t even control a third of the of the UR- it’s “territories” include area north of the Wild Space as well as some areas within Wild Space, somewhat like Empire of the Hand in terms of it’s size.

What it basically is is a feudal state resembling HRE, where individual stellar or even sectoral governments are pretty much independent states only paying the “central” government for protection from dangers of the Unknown Regions as well as contributing a part of their armed forces to the joint forces or something. In general their fleet would look like a horrifying mish-mash of designs as old as The Old Empire was, modified and updated to be kept viable to the point of them being an example of Ship of Theseus. They also have done relatively effective experimentation with world devastators-like designs, however the World Devastators are, at least according to their arms limitation treaties, only used in peaceful and commercial purposes such as mining, terraforming, etc. Due to a large amount of uninhabited planets within their space, they’ll be financing a large immigration program encouraging undesirables from across the Galaxy to travel in safety of state-funded liners and start a new life there. Basically what the US did before they started to regulate immigration. There will be gigantic, Eclipse-sized immigration space liners which would transport hundreds of thousands (or millions if put in cryogenic hibernation capsules but that’s probably even worse than 3rd Class) of colonists on each flight. Of course if militarized they’d be wiped the floor with because you cannot turn a civilian ship into an effective military one without major redesigns and changes to it’s structure which in this case would cost far too much.

From a historical standpoint they were started by a bunch of small imperial warlords who have rejected the call of the resurrected Emperor and abandoned their holdings in the Western Reaches fearing retribution, then traveling to Unknown Regions where they’ve “stumbled” across O’Reen and began a very successful cooperation. On an international stage they’re probably a wanted thing for both Coalition and Alliance- they keep the dangers of the Unknown Regions away from the known galaxy as well as are relatively open for trade and other cooperation. Although a sizeable force of modern forces could capture them, what keeps them alive is that they’re far more useful semi-independent then conquered and that “the game is not worth the candle”- invading them would cost far too much units, so it’s simpler to just let them be but keep an eye on them to prevent them being too militarized.

Would this work for you eh?
