The Push for Portland continues!
News of the collapse of the fleeting socialist government to the west, was sudden and sooner than expected. Even if it was inevitable. Thankfully the confusion and chaos present a perfect opportunity to strike. Commander Bundy gives his men specific movement and occupation orders. Portland has two major locations that are of paramount importance to the war effort to defend Jefferson’s sovereignty. The first being the United States Naval Reserve base on the northern bank of the Willamette River. Jefferson forces are ordered to assault the base, taking advantage of their lack of cohesion and orders to drive the socialist soldiers out and take control of the base, its ports, and the plethora of supply housed there.
The second major location, is Portland International Airport on the southern bank of the Columbia River. Being paramount to delivering supply from Portland, to the war effort in the mainland of Jefferson, the airport needs to be secured. Luckily, military resistance to occupation should be minimal in a mostly civilian airport. The final two orders given are meant to compliment these first two. The first being the securing of U.S. Route 30, along the path from the Naval Reserve base, and Portland International Airport. With these three points secure, supply will have a chance to get to Jefferson from all over the planet. Greatly increasing it’s chances to success.
The final order given in this current operation, is made in an attempt to stall the retreated socialist forces from making any meaningful assault on the Jefferson Army’s defensive positions. Artillery and tank shelling are ordered onto the two bridges that connect the 205 and 5 interstates to Portland over the Columbia River as well as the railroad bridge that crosses the same river. Once operations are complete, units are commanded to begin transporting anti-aircraft weaponry from the base to Idaho Falls as soon as physically possible.

The Federal Government of the United States began launching cowardly, and destructive bombing efforts against the Righteous State of Jefferson. Their efforts have so far been focused on airfields and military installations in the east. And yet even with these stated goals the Federal military has managed to inflict civilian casualties. Their aggression is unjustified and horrific. And yet, this was all to be expected. They are under supposedly new leadership. And yet despite promising changes, continue to do the exact same things they have always done. We here at Jefferson have made NO attempt at any sort of aggression towards the illegitimate Federal government. And yet the mere existence of a place where the Lord’s will and power exceeds their own, makes their blood boil over. They cannot let us exist, not because we are a threat to their safety. But because we are a threat to their control. In response to these latest attacks, our Commander has made some brilliant moves and efforts to reduce the impact of these attacks. He has changed strategy, ordering our planes to fly in lower patrol formations to avoid being at radar altitude as much as reasonably possible. Using our helicopters to perform guided strikes by our A-10s that are flying too low to benefit from Radar themselves. The loss of some of our bases and several planes is inevitable compared to the oppressive stature and capabilities of the Federal Air Force. But these moves hopefully will reduce these losses to a level that is sustainable until we can secure means of defense against their air assaults. Otherwise, reportedly the Jefferson Air Force has been ordered to avoid confrontation with Federal planes if at all necessary. As the likelihood of winning any dogfights is slim.
