THE YEAR is 2022. 61 years and 6 months ago, as anyone sufficiently old can recount to the day, the bombs dropped. Chicago and Washington DC were in disarray. As the mushroom cloud collapsed, America was already in chaos. Riots broke out across the nation as the military police were called in to handle mass looting. But even America's military can be stretched only so thin before it rips apart. First, the South succeeded. Then, those Mormons in Utah did. New England and Pacifica fell like dominos after that.
It was clear that America was dead. But Americans as people could never be killed. So, as the Yanks had done for so long before, Americans persevered. Divided, though they were, into Pacificans, Confederates, New Englanders, are Zionists as they were, it seemed all were American in the heart, no matter what a map or a government said. And under this mentality, the American continent continued. America progressed into the 2000s, the 2010s, and eventually the 2020s.
But the image of a united culture and people is fractioning. The South is becoming increasingly provocative, while the Mormons continue to cut themselves off. In New England, citizens are once again seeing themselves as Englishmen more than Americans. Plainsmen are under the blue, gold, and green. America is dead, well and truly, Americans it seems are a dying race.
So then, is it time for a new nation to take hold of the continent? Can Quebec, united against English tyranny long before the bombs dropped, influence its neighbors? Can the natives of the North, recovering their ancient traditions, establish a foothold? Or will American hegemony be restored? Can Pacifica leverage its economy? Can the Plains control the food supply? Will the Confederacy be able to bring back the Antebellum period?IC

The Federation of Pacifica
Pacifica, Cascadia, Pacific Union
The Federation of Pacifica, also known as Pacifica, Cascadia, or the Pacific Union is a democratic nation that consists of lands from the old world nations of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Federation is a democratic, prosperous, and free nation that is renowned for its advancement and liberty. Since 2020, the nation has been led by Chief Executive John Merkleberry.
Pacifica has a GDP of 1,229,000,000,000 Pacificades. When divided by the Pacifican population, the GDP per capita is 25,210 Pacificades, which is the national currency. Pacifica has an HDI of 0.932. The Federation of Pacifica has free and mandated schooling, including optional but free higher education, as well as free healthcare. Pacifica has, by far, the best economy of the new order.
Pacifica has a standing army of 487,500 personnel. The Federation has ample air and naval power and can stand against any foe in the Pacific. The Pacific Union is secretly working on redeveloping a nuclear weapon, mostly to defend against the weapons of the Reborn Confederacy. Pacifica is a member of the Entente and is close allies with the 13 States and the Plains Republic. It abhors the Reborn Confederacy but also dislikes Quebec and the Holy Kingdom of New Zion.
The Federation's constitution, the Constitution of Pacifica, outlines a multi-branched government. The three branches are the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. The Executive Branch is led by the Chief Executive, who is currently John Merkleberry. It carries out the mandates of the Legislative Branch and the Judicial Branch while making quick and necessary decisions. The Legislative Branch creates laws. It consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, both of which are elected by the people. The Judicial branch interprets laws and determines the legality of laws, while also deciding if a law was breached. The current Chief Executive is John Merkleberry, who was elected in 2018. The two main parties are the ruling Liberals, who are progressives and social democrats, and the opposition Conservatives, who are mainly right leaning traditionalists pursuing small government.
The Pacific Union has 9 states. Of these, California has the largest land area, population, and GDP. States are often seen as miniature versions of the federal government. Most states have a Chief Executive or equivalent, as well as the 3 branches. Many states have State Militias which are organized like a state military and are under the control of the Chief Executive and legislature a majority of the time. Controversially, the entirety of Mexico is regarded as 1 state, although its subdivisions are more powerful than those of other states.
Pacifica has a population of 48,750,000 Pacificans. Of these, 87% are white, 7% are Asian and 65 are African-Pacifican. About 23% of Pacifica is Catholic, while 36% are other Christian denominations including Anglicans, Separatists, and Baptists. 34% are either atheist or agnostic, 5% report to be Jewish and 2% are Muslim. The Federation's capital is Sacramento in the state of California, which is its 8th largest city. Other major cities include Los Angeles, San Diego, and San Jose.
Pacifica is a beacon of technological advancement. In 2016, the University of Technology in Los Angeles developed the Internet, a system to communicate between computers using a unified system of digits. In 2019, the Pacifican Air Force declassified a mobile GPS that can determine the location of a pocket-sized computer. In 2022, The National Biological Institute announced that they had cloned a pig named Sherlock Holmes. It is unknown how advanced the technology of the military is, but given the previous advancements, it is likely the military has technology decades away from public use.
Amid the Great American Collapse, the states of California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and Alaska formed the Pacific Defense Agreement to coordinate a defense in the case of a Confederate invasion. As the war degraded for American forces, Pacifica was cut off from America completely. Following this, the leader of the Agreement met with President Agnew and declared that the PDA would be allowed to succeed, but promised to rejoin if America would win the war. When President Agnew surrendered to the rebels, Pacifican independence was reaffirmed. When Canada collapsed to indecision and turmoil, Pacifica took advantage and annexed British Columbia with little resistance, connecting Alaska to the mainland. When the Confederacy invaded Mexico, Pacifica did the same under the guise of peacekeeping the lands. After a reference that could have been faked, Pacifica annexed most of Northeast Mexico. Pacifica, in the image of America, continued progressing and persevering.
The Confederate States of America
the Confederacy, the Reborn Confederacy, the South
The Confederate States of America, better known as the Confederacy, is an oppressive and totalitarian nation that lays claim to land that was a part of both Mexico and the United States of America. The Confederacy is a despotic and impoverished nation which is infamous for it's repression, slavery, and the subjucation of it's citizenry, free and bondaged alike. Grand Governor Earl Joness rules the Confederacy with an iron fist.
The Reborn Confederacy has a GDP of 88,380,000,000. The GDP per Capita is $870. The CSA has an HDI of .987, one of the lower scores for nations in North America. The South has mandated public schooling from grades 1-8, and has optional public schooling from 9-12. The South does not have Universal Healthcare, and it's healthcare costs are some of the highest on the continent.
The Confederacy's military is the Armed Forces of the CSA. The CSA has 1,523,250 active duty soldiers. The Confederacy has only a small navy, which has only 1 aircraft carrier, and a small airforce, which similarly lags behind the rest of North America. It is suspected that only a fraction of the Confederacy's forces are well-supplied at any given time, and command positions are given out through nepotism rather than merit. The Reborn Confederacy claims to have 15 operational nukes, but the Pacifican Intelligence Command, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the New English Operational Intelligence Corps refute the idea that all of these are operational. The Confederacy is a member of the Triumvirate, and abhors the values and ideals of the USA and Pacifica.
The Confederate Constitution, also known as the Southern Virtues, outlines a system of givernment where near-total authority rests in the hand of the Grand Governor. The Grand Governor is a military and civil role which manages holds supreme authority in both the government and in the military. The Governor runs the legislature, the courts, and the day-to-day operations of the state. The current Grand Governor is Earl Joness, who was place in power via military coup in 2008. Political parties except the Southern Union of Traditional Democrats, the ruling fascist party, are banned.
The Confederacy has 12 states and 6 territories. Of these, Texas is both #1 in physical size and population. States are run in the image of the Federal government, with all state officials being all (supposedly) fanatically loyal to the Governor Joness. The 12 state Governors are handpicked by the Grand Governor to ensure loyalty. The territories are run under the exclusive control of Governor Joness. The territories are all states conquered by the Reborn Confederacy that did not join the Confederacy in the 1st American Civil War.
The Reborn Confederacy has a population of 101,550,000. Ironically, the Confederacy's burning racial hatred is also the reason for it's demographic diversity. 15% of the Confederacy is back, while 21% is latino. 70% of the South is white, while the rest are a mixture of natives, asians, or other races. Approximately 34% of the South are enslaved, or just over 34,000,000 people are in bondage in the South. The Souths confederacy is in Richmond, Virginia. Other major cities are Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas.
The Confederate State of America, being a state hellbent on expansion, puts the majority of it's R&D money into research. When rediscovering and developing nuclear bombs, the Armed Forces of the CSA made breakthroughs in nuclear energy production. In 2012, the CSA launched the first payload-carrying missile since World War 3. The Reborn Confederacy has also claimed it discovered portable GPS devices, though these claims are not substantiated and are likely propogandistic.
When the bomb dropped, dixiecrats and ethnonationalists loyal to the Grand Knight of the KKK, Jean Christian, siezed control of Virginia. By the time the US government had recovered it's operational integrity after the bombing of DC, Chistian had siezed control of all of the former lands of the Confederacy. Not satisfied with his massive gains, Christian pushed further. Once Christian siezed West Virginia, American resistance stiffened into trench warfare. Christian, facing heavy losses, signed the Treaty of Boston. He legalized slavery and established a dictatorship with him at the center. The Confederacy invaded Mexico for the reported goal of liberating Christians, but the real goal was too enslave latinos.
The United States of America
the US, the States, the 13 States
The United States of America is a democratic yet corrupt nation covering the mid-Atlantic Seaboard and the rust belt. The US oligarchic, slightly corrupt nation is known for it's long history and it's "fathership" of all American nations. The 13 States are, since the 2016 American Election, ruled by Jennie Eisenhower, 4th great grandchild of President Eisenhower.
With a population of and a GDP of $84,105,110,150, the 13 States has a GDP per capita of $1,066. Despite this extremely low GDP per capita, the United States has a HDI of .889. The wealth inequality of America has skyrocketed beyong comprehension, with the top 10% of Americans owning 60% of capital, 30% of Americans owning 70% of America's capital, and the top 50% of Americans owning over 99% of capital. The United States has mandated schooling, although it abolished it's public education system. Healthcare prices are exorbidant and on a steady rise.
The once mighty American Army has been reduced to 128,832. That said, American aircraft and seacraft have only improved. America's army is professional, and does not employ the draft (although it does during war-time). The United States is openly a member of the Entente, and is a close ally to both New England and the Plainsmen, but especially to Cascadia. America still holds control of 100 nuclear weapons from the days before the bombs dropped.
Despite America's troubles, it is still governed by the Constitution of 1776, in practice, at least. The American government is divided into 3 branches; the Executive branch, the Legislative Branch, and the Judicial Branch. The Executive Branch is headed by the President, which carries out instructions from the courts and from the legislature, and acts quickly when needed (such as in the beginining of wars or Executive Orders). The Legislative Branch is the bicarmel body of America that makes laws. The Judicial Branch, headed by the Supreme Court, determines the constitutianality of the laws. Despite the constitution, America's equality under the law is slipping. The ultra-wealthyare seemingly allowed to blatently allow laws, often breaking labor regulations. The President has supposedly recieved billions in bribes, and even the legislature has been sold en mass. The two main parties are still the Democrats, who are liberals and progressives, and the Republicans, who are traditionalists and conservatives. President Jennie Eisenhower is a Republican.
America has 13 States and 2 Dispopulated Zones.States are given great power, and are made in the image of the Constitution, with the Constitution mandating it have a 'republican' form of government. States are run by the Governor and the State Legislature. States are defended by the National Guard, which serve as reservists to the Federal Army and as militias for the defense of the states. The Dispopulated Zones are the mutilated remains of Chicago and Washington, the 2 cities hit in the 3rd World War.
America has a population is 128 million. Of that, 5% are African American, and Latinos make up 3. Other Caucasions make up 77% of America. The remainder are Asians or Natives. America is still a Christian nation, with 80% of America beleiving in a Higher Power. Of these, some 72% are Christians, with 66% being Catholic. 21% is Jewish, and the remaining are othe faiths. 20% are atheist or agnostic. America, especially post-WW3, is heavily urbanized. Over 80% of America lives in major cities. The capital is Philidelphia, while other hubs are New York, Hempstead, and Baltimore.
America, needing to keep it's technological advantage in lieu of troops on the ground, put's millions into research each year. America has many advanced nuclear power plants. In 2009, America released Daa, a programming software in use across the world. 3 years later, American doctor and engineer John Gerner creates the first robotic heart. The patient lives for 132 days on it, before their heart was returned to normal. In 2014, American astronomer Jack Stubert discovers the first evidence of a black hole.
When the invasion of Cuba first began, American President Richerd Nixon made the controversial choice of announcing the US' support of the revolutionaries. They outright manned the insurgency with Cuban Americans. When General Charles Mann Qui used a tactical nuclear weapon, the Soviet Union believed this would be an escalation. In response, they launched 2 nuclear ICBMs, 1 in DC and one in Chicago. Despite limited casualties, and even limited strategic casualties, as much of the command staff was already at NORAD, when fascist Jean Christian initiated a revolt in the South, America was all but over. One by one, New England, New Zion, and Pacifica succeeded. Aided by smaller, more local rebellions, America collapsed and signed the Treaty of Boston. America has been left to redetermine its future.
The United Kingdom of New England
New England, the United Kingom, the UKNE
The United Kingdom of New England is a small, prosperous nation that controls New England and the Maritime Provinces, in what was once Canada and America. The UKNE is a nation renowned for it's extroardinary GDP per capita, rich history, and strong cultural traditions. The King of New England is King Jakob II, the People's Minister is Edward Lacklin of New Haven, and the Royal Regent-in-Waiting is Duke Irvin of Waterbury.
The United Kingdom has a gdp of 879,274,470,063 New English Pounds. It has a HDI of .901, the highest in North America and a GDP per capita of NE£69,276, a GDP per capita almost 3 times higher than even old-world America. The UKNE has public, mandated schooling from grades 1 to 10, with free but optional schooling for grades 11 and 12. College is optional and free as well, with some proffesional schools being paid for as well. Healthcare has been nationalized, and all New Englanders recieve state-funded healthcare.
New England's armed forces number around 126,000. It's Navy reflects it's ancient naval tradition, and though it's national air force is small, it can still defend the nations skies. New England is one of the few states of new America to not have a nuclear program, although it has a nuclear umbrella agreement with the United States, declaring that a nuclear attack on New England is a nuclear attack on America. New England is a member of the Entente, and close allies with the United States, the Plains Republic, and Pacifica.
The supreme document of New England, the Royal Charter of New England, outlines a government ruled by 3 distinct and interrelated groups. These are the Crown, the Parliement, and the Judiciary. The Crown is a heraditary position, currently occupied by King Jakob II, that has the sole authority to submit and approve laws. The King is also the leader of the Armed Forces of New England, with sole authority over military command, in peace and war time alike. The Crown is similar to the Executive Branch, in that they appoint ministers who execute laws made by the Crown and the Legislative Branch. The Crown also appoints judges on the advice of the Royal Regent-in-Waiting. The Parliement is New Englands legislature. It is divided into the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The House of Commons must approve spending and taxes, as well as many forms of civil and criminal law. The HoC is elected by all adult New Englanders. The leader of the House of Commons is led by the People's Minister, Edward Lacklin. The House of Lords is made up of the descendants of the 43 rich landowners which formed the nation. It must approve constitutional law, royal law, declerations of war, appointments to the Judicial, and the line of succession. If the King is under 21, a Lord from the HoL is chosen to rule in their place until they turn 21 while the future monarch is being educated. The leader of the House of Lords is the Royal Regent-in-Waiting, who is currently Duke Irvin of Waterbury. The Judicial Branch decides the guilt of accused citizens and residents and decides the constitutionality of laws according to the Royal Charter. Magistrates of the judicial branch are appointed by the King on the advice of both the People's Minister and the Royal Regent-in-Waiting, and approved by the House of Lords.
Unlike many other municipalities, the Dukedoms of New England are not copies of the Federal System. In the Dukedoms, the Dukes, Duchesses, or Regents hold significantly less power. In Dukedoms, there are usually 2 branches; the Crown and the Parliement. In Dukedoms, the parliements are often made up of a Senate and a House of Representatives. The Legislature is made up of Senate and the House of Representatives. The Senate takes the place that the House of Lords takes in the Federal government, with the House of Representatives taking the place of the House of Commons. However, both of these bodies are elected by the people. In the Senate, the candidates must be approved by the Duke, but they are elected to the Senate by the residents of the Dukedom. In the House of Representatives, all citizens are allowed to run, and are then freely elected. The Duke still needs to approve laws for them to be elected, however.
New England has a population of 12,692,231. Of this, 96% of the population of the UKNE are white. The remaining 4% are mainly African-Americans from the era of the Great Migration. 58% of the state are Anglicans, which is also the national religion. 10% are Catholic, while another 28% are atheist or agnostic, while another 14% are Jewish. The remainder are other religions, largely other Christian denominations. The New English capitol is Boston. Other major cities are Halifax, Providence, and St. Johns.
New England's current monarch, King Jakob, is cultured and is interested in computer sciences and biology, which he calls 'The FInal Frontier of Earth' as well as space. As such, New England heavily funds the fields of computer science and astronomy. In 2021, New England put the King Robert I space telescope in orbit, and it has since been transmitting high quality photos of space. In early 2022, the King Jakob I Foundation developed and published the Global Super-Fast Interweb Directive, nickmaned Guperweb Directive, a website which provides links to other websites.
When the bombs dropped, the aristoctrats of New England, who had once been the leaders of the region and the most respectable elite in all of America, came out of hiding. The 42 Noble Families of New England put their funds towards the defense of New England, in an effort to retake their rightful place at the table. Their militias, known as the Goldbands for the distinctive gold armbands they wore, guarded New England well. As Jean Christian started the 2nd American Civil War, and as New Zion began their war for independence, the Aristocrats declared New England independence. They made the wealthiest of them all, Robert MacLandos, king as they signed the Royal Charter of New England. America, already defeated, took this as a message that they cannot win, and surrendered that year with minimal bloodshed for New Englander. The Aristocrats were made nobles, but in order to stave of revolts of the people, they created a House of Commons to advise the King. Slowly, especially under King Jakob I reforms, the House of Commons became more powerful, soon sharing equal power with the House of Lords. When Quebec rised, the Maritime Provinces, wishing to keep their liberty, if not their independence, joined New England.
The Plains Republic
the Plains, the Plainsmen, the Great Plains
The Plains Republic is a large, agricultural nation that covers large swaths of the Great Plains, covering both Canada and the United States. It is a slightly authoritarian nation renowned for it's wealth of arable farmland, it's flat landscape oft covered with wheat and barley, and its conservatism. Since 2012, it has been ruled by President Zachary Smith.
The Great Plains has a GDP of 534856840000 Marks, which is the currency of the Plains Republic. Shockingly, it has a GDP/capita of 7,161,000 Marks. Although it has such a high GDP per capita, almost the entirety of it's wealth is held by it's major oligarchs, with 10% of the population owning 70% of the capital, while the bottom 75% owning only 10% of the capital of the nation. The Great Plains has mandated public education until High School. Healthcare is not free, and in fact it is one of the more expensive places in the world to get healthcare.
The military of the plains has only 71,000 members in service. It has no navy, although it has a capable air force. The Plain Republic is currently engaging in nuclear development, something it openly boasts about August. The Plainsmen largely rely on the Plains Republica's membership in the Entente, which provides it defense against the Confederacy, and especially against it's neighbor, Quebec.
The Plains Republic is ruled the Constitution of the Great Plains. The Great Plains constitution stipulates a 3 branch system of government, consisting of an Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branch. The Executive Branch is run by the President. The President and his cabinet executes the directives of the Legislature. The Legislature is a unicarmel body. The Legislature, known as the Senate, orders the Executive branch by creating the nations laws. The Judicial is appointed by the Executive and approved by the Senate. It must decide the constitutionality of a law.
The Plains Republic is comprised of 6 states. These states are, similarly to most other nations, run like miniature versions of the country. States have Governors which command the executive as well as an elected legislature that make laws. Judges are appointed by the governor and approved by the legislature. The Plainsmen states are split into the States of Americana and the States of Canadae, with the former being the old world states of Montana and North and South Dakota, and the latter being the prarie provinces of Canada.
The Plains Republic has a population of 7,161,000. Of these, 97% are caucasion. 2% are African America, while 1% are Asian. The Plains Republic is very religous, with 41% being Christians, while another 32% are Roman Catholic. 25% are atheist, while the remainder have other religious affiliations. The capital of the Plains Republic is Bismark. Other major cities are Fargo, Sioux Falls, and Rapid City.
While the nations allies in the Entente are progressing ever-further, the Plains Republic is lagging behind. Despite this, some improvements have been made. In 2012, the Plains Republic reeradicated smallpox, and was the first nation to do so since the bombs dropped. The Interra Games Corporation released East-it-All, one of the first video games since the bomb dropped. Professor John Waltzen, a Plainsmen, was given the King Jakob I Prize, a prestigous award that is seen in a similar way to the Nobel Prize, for his work in Pacifica in cloning, along with 5 others.
As America collapsed, the leader of the North Dakota National Guard declared that the Great Plains would not allow troops from any other statet enter North or South Dakota, or Montana. America, not wanting to get it's food supplier cut off, agreed to a ceasefire, with a peace treaty to be worked out later. Despite incursions from the Confederacy, the National Guard stabilized the region. When President Agnew authorized American surrender, the Great Plains signed the Treaty of Boston. The Great Plains was born. The general who declared independence, Ron Spire, invaded Canada as it too fell. Taking the prarie regions, they were easily integrated into the Great Plains. As General Spire died, his will stipulated the Great Plains would become aa democracy. Despite a brief insurrection by oligarchs of the nation, freedom prevailed and the Plains Republic became a (albeit corrupt) democracy.
The Nationstate of Quebec
Quebec, the Nationstate, the NSQ
The Nationstate of Quebec, also known as the NSQ or Quebec, is an autocratic nationthat covers Quebec and it's neighboring provinces. It is a totalitarian nation known internationally for it's discrimination against the English, militaristic ways, and extreme ultra-nationalist anti anti-democratic policies. Since 1993, Quebec has been led by Chef (French for leader) Alexis Pherigo
Quebec has a GDP of 138,794,987,220 QUEB. The NSQ has a population of 23,569,897, as well as a GDP per capita of $5,888. Quebec has an HDI rating of .834. It does not have free healthcare, nor does it have free education at any level. It has major wealth disparity, with the top 100 people in Quebec owning 12% of the Quebec GDP, while the bottom 25% own only 6%.
Quebec has 235,000 uniformed servicemen. The Quebec armed forces has an alert air force, but a small navy. Quebec is engaging in a nuclear program, which has so far yielded no notable results. Quebec is a member of the Triumvirate, and close allies with the Confederacy against America and the Plains Republic. Quebec engages in skirmishes with the Plainsmen Border Guard, something which it publically denies.
Quebec is ruled by the Independent Bond of Quebec. The Bond enforces a 2 part system of government, made of the Parliement and the Courts. The parliement is made up of the House of Commons, which elects from it the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister, along with his cabinet of other MPs, executes the laws of Quebec. They appoint Judges, which make up the Judicial branch. The Judicial Branches duty is too enforce and interpret the laws of Quebec. In reality, all MPs are loyal to the only represented party, the Parti nationaliste catholique du peuple québécois, and the Chef.
Quebec has 3 states, the largest of these by far is Ontario. Similarly to the government of regions in the Confederacy, the govenments of the Quebec provinces are nothing more than puppets of Pherigos regime. Quebec's provinces are similarly made up of 2 branches, with the Premier acting as the Chef. The province of Inner Quebec is by far the most powerful, while the provinces of Quebec and Newfoundland & Labrador have significantly less rights.
Quebec has a population of 23,569,897. Of this, 98% are white, mainly because of whitespread efforts by the PNCPQ and Quebec to hemogonize the state. Similarly 86% of Quebecois are Roman Catholic, as Catholicism and Atheism are the only two faiths allowed. Despite this, it is suspected that 3% are secretly Jewish. The capital is Quebec City. Other major hubs of population and trade are Toronto, Montreal, and Ottowa.
Like the Confederacy, Quebec's poor ecenomy and blatent corruption leaves little room for civilian development. Despite this, in 2009, the first successful heart-lung transplant was completed on Lance Corpral John Buicker. As the Confederacy too claims, Quebec claims it created the first ever portable GPS, thought it is much more likely that Pacifica did.
When the bombs dropped, the ultra-far right Catholic Nationalist Party of the Quebec People took advantage of the chaos to the South to sieze control. Under General Laurence Wilfred, Quebec siezed independence and invaded Her neighbors. General Wilfred finaly stopped his rampage as neighboring states were taken by New England and the Plains Republic. General Wilfred was made the first Chef, a French word for leader meant to be used in the style of Fuhrer. As General Wilfred was murdered after a long reign by English, Plains Republic backed terrorists in 1993, the up-and coming General Aexis Phergio. Phergio, in an attempt to strike back, started border skirishes with the Plains Republic. Despite the intention of forcing the Republic to submit, the Plainsmen joined the Entente.
Minor Nations of 2022The Inuit Commonwealth - The Inuit Commonwealth is a communist nation in the far-North of what was once known as Canada. It is known for it's ancient cultures, decentralization, and rich history. It is ruled by Hivuliqti Pekartok.
The Commonwealth has a paltry population of 30,000, and due to it relying solely on the barter of goods and services, it does not have a GDP. It has no national military, but towns and districts do have town guards. These consist mainly of guerilla infantry units, as the Commonwealth does not have a legitimate navy or air force. The IC disavows the use of nuclear weapons, and none can be made.
The areas that once inhabited the Inuit Confederation always left the small local settlements alone. And when the bombs dropped, any minor government oversight they had was stripped. The provinces of the far-North banded together. As the towns were simply bonded by a common culture, they decided to have a single magistrate, the Hivuliqti, which does any tasks required. The Commonwealth has so far only survived by virtue of it's inhospitable lands being nearly worthless to a potential invader. The Commonwealth stays neutral, and to some the rest of the continent doesn't even matter.The State of Alaska - The State of Alaska is a democratic, mildly corrupt, in what was once the state of Alaska. It is known for its absurd continued loyalty to the 13 States, its cold weather, and its persistent survival in the tundras of the North. It is led by Governor John McLohagh.
Alaska has a population of 550,000 and a GDP of $37,725,000,000. It has a military consisting of 7,000 infantry, and it has a small navy and air force mostly made of US ships and planes stationed in Alaska. Alaska has 6 nuclear warheads which were all stationed in Alaska prior to the bombs dropping, though it is unknown if they can launch them at this moment.
When the bombs dropped, Korean War hero Bill F. Abbot was stationed as Commander of Forces in Alaska. As America slowly crumbled, he determined to reunite it, and started by eliminating insurgents in Alaska. He unilaterally declared marshall law, and the governor and civilian government resigned to give him absolute power. Slowly but surely, Alaska stabilized. He made preparations to reinstall democracy, and upon his death elections for Governor were held. Alaska still maintains that it is a US state, although the 13 States do not influence it. Alaska is a close ally of Pacifica and a member of the Entente.The Union of the Tribes - Union of the Tribes is a small, devolved confederacy in the former states of Kansas and Nebraska. Notable for its rich history, reverence for the lands of the nation, and notable dislike for the white man, the Union is a devolved parliamentary body. It does not have a leader, but the Chairman of the Congress of Chiefs is Atohi Cherokee.
The Union has a population of nearly 7 million, and a GDP of about 16 billion USD. It has a 70,000-strong Infantry, and a capable air force, of which are sizable portion is imported from the nation's close ally, Pacifica. It does not have the capabilities to launch nuclear weapons, and it disavows a program to build any.
Even when the bombs dropped, life did not get easier for the beaten and oppressed Native peoples of the Midwest. Indeed, with the growing Confederate rebellion, it was increasingly likely that Natives would be captured and enslaved by the Confederacy. Natives whose ancestors were forced into the Midwest, particularly those of the Sioux and the 5 Civilized Tribes, banded together for their collective good. They established the Union of the Tribes and signed the Treaty of Boston with America and the new nations of America. A nation for and by the Natives was to be born. The Union of the Tribes is a non-member ally of the Entente.The Hawai'i Compact - The Hawai'i Compact is a small, anarchic state in the former state of Hawaii. Known for its libertarianism, tropical climate, and powerful export-based economy, Hawai'i does not have a leader as it is built on a minarchist government philosophy that limits the government to defense and nominally foreign affairs.
Hawaii has 1.1 million citizens and a GDP of 120 million dollars. Hawaii has a military consisting of 9,000 soldiers. It has a large navy, meant mainly to battle the pirate scourge, and an airforce that is made mostly of altered cargo planes. It does not have nuclear capabilities, nor does it have a way to launch them.
During the Treaty of Boston, Hawaii was completely forgotten. Even to Pacifica, the 50th State was too far away to care about at a time like that. Without government interference, Hawaii grew. Doles Banana Company began taking back its political power, as did others. Through trade with the mainland, Hawaii once again was shot back into the public eye. Soon, the companies and the state reached an agreement. Hawaii would be a minarchist nation, with a state that was only focused on defense and, to an extent, foreign relations. The companies soon turned the island into a libertarian paradise.. for the rich, at least. Hawai'i remains neutral, though in reality is economically beholden to their largest trade partner, Pacifica.The Peurto Rican Commenwealth - The Puerto Rican Commonwealth is a dictatorial state in what was once the American territory of Puerto Rico. Notable for its harsh political oppression, Catholic devotion, and anti-communism, Puerto Rico is ruled with an iron fist by Gen. Thiago Bruno.
Puerto Rico has a population of 667,500. The Commonwealth has a GDP of 28 billion. The Puerto Rican Armed Forces measure 12,000, almost 2% of the Puerto Rican population. It has a navy mainly made of seized civilian ships and an admittedly weak airforce. It does not have nuclear weapons.
Peurto Rico too was rather ignored. In the Cuban Civil War, Puerto Rico was a vital base. However, when the Confederacy rebelled in the Second American Civil War, most of these ships and a majority of the military presence on the island perished during a failed invasion of Florida. President Agnew's last act before committing suicide was too sign a declaration freeing Puerto Rico. When Puerto Rico-born General Bruno heard of this, he pounced. The Republic died, and the Commonwealth was born. The General agreed to join the Triumvirate as a junior member.The Republic of Cuba - The Republic of Cuba is a mixed system in what was once the Western portions of Cuba. Known for its fervent anti-communism, authoritarianism, and militarism, the RoC is a regime consisting of elements from democracy and fascism led by President Alfredo Villa.
The Republic of Cuba has a population of 7,289,000 and a GDP of 50 billion USD. The Republic has a military consisting of 70,000 servicemen and women. The Republic has a navy made mainly of vessels imported from the US and New England, as well as an air force that consists of a combination of imported jets and 1960s-era jets. West Cuba has no nuclear weapons, nor a way to launch or produce them.
On April 16th, 1961 30,000 Cuban exiles as well as American-payrolled mercenaries landed in the Bay of Pigs. Despite their low numbers, the air support provided by the Americans gave them time to call for reinforcements. President Nixon declared support publically, much to the dismay of the officers who planned the attack. With the support of American marines, the Republic of Cuba and the DPRC fought until the Republic came to central Cuba. While seiging a Cuban city, a rogue general used a tactical nuclear problem. Following the exchange that left America dead, Cuba and the DPRC, without their backers, signed an unofficial truce. The RoC was left to determine its own destiny as it slowly democratized to a middling democracy.The Democratic People's Republic of Cuba - The Democratic People's Republic of Cuba is a Marxist Leninist state in what was once the lands of Eastern Cuba. Known for repression, commonplace disappearances, and a liberal application of death squads, the Republic is ruled with an iron fist by Milagros Mastache.
The People's Republic has a population of 3,131,000 and a gross domestic product of 13,250,000,000 USD. The People's Liberation Force, the military of the DPRC, numbers around 31,000. Cuba has a weak navy, due in large part to a lack of allies in the region. It has a minuscule air force which is made up in no small part of 1960s planes imported during the Cuban Civil War. Due to it's disadvantages in numbers compared to the West, Cuban assets are trained to be proficient in guerilla warfare.
When the forces of America and West Cuba united to overthrow Castro, his own state got him first. Máximo Ruiz, the Marshall of Cuba, declared that Castro had intentions to surrender to America. He overthrew Castro, and under the guise of national security, he suspended the few civil liberties Cubans enjoyed. Despite attempting to beat back the Western forces, he lost his struggle. When the bombs dropped, Ruiz himself was overthrown, which birthed the modern Cuban state.
Terrorists & InsurgenciesThe Appalachian Christian Freedom Front is a terrorist organization operating in the Confederacy and the 13 States as a Christian nationalist movement. They are led by War Chief Macmaul.
Risen from deep within the Appalachian mountain range, the ACFF is an Appalachian secessionist terror group that had been founded by pre-war white Christians who had inhabited the area for centuries. Believing that the Confederate states and the remnants of the United States are corrupt, the group is seeking to expand their influence through the indoctrination and radicalization of young East Coast Christians and launching violent terror attacks against Confederate and Thirteen States government offices, city centers, and infrastructure alike. Led by War Chief Benton Macmaul, the ACFF has been recorded to have as many as nine thousand members and with as many as two hundred and fifty war bands operating throughout the greater Appalachian region.The Underground Railroad is an anti-government group operating in the Confederacy and based in the 13 States as an anti-slavery and pro-democracy group.
A revival of a centuries-old abolitionist movement, the Underground railroad is an organization seeking to aid in the escape of slaves from the Confederate States and to reunify the East Coast under the 13 Colonies. The Underground Railroad is made up of a number of stations and tracks into numbered lines, which are formed into a larger system for which Slaves are able to flee from the Confederate States with the aid of tracks and guards. Although being more of an open secret, most of those in the Former United States are well aware of the Railroad and the Entente's material support of the Underground Railroad despite the denial of the Entente. Without any official leadership and instead operating under a number of individual conductors who operate their respective lines, the organization boasts 13,000 members across the 13 Colonies and the Confederate States, divided across forty-three different lines.
