Theyra wrote:Character Name: Arkhan Tariel
Alias/Epithets: Inquisitor with a Soul
Appearance:
Personality: Arkhan can be described as friendly and caring for an inquisitor. Not one to carelessly throw soldiers to their deaths. Towards chaos cultists, daemons, and other traitors. He becomes bitter and cold anger ignites in him. Probably one of the few inquisitors that care about the citizens of the imperium and do not like the fact he has to possibly kill loyal citizens because they now know of Chaos. Some have called him weak because of this, but they can not argue with his loyal, steel resolve and results.

Backstory:
Hailing from the Avom Two, A mining world, and the son of a pair of miners. Arkhan was never thought to be anything else but a miner like his parents though he often imagined being more and maybe one day leaving his homeworld and travel the stars. His parents discourage this some, as not wanting to damper their child's spirit. But the idea never left him, and things would change for him when he reached ten years old.

As unknown to most of the population, there existed a chaos cult within the planet, and after gathering enough followers among the PDF. They staged an uprising, and the loyal PDF despi,te fighting valiantly. Were ultimately overwhelmed, their last stand being at the governor's palace. But the governor was able to send an astro-message telling the Imperium of the fall of the planet to the cultists. While most of the population was either killed or captured by the cults. Some managed to escape and flee to one of the many mines to hide. Arkhan and his family were among those few. Now unaware of the cultists' plans and hidden for now. All they could do was pray to the Emperor of Mankind for help. And did come but leading the invasion force was not a general but an inquisitor. Specificity, an inquisitor of the Ordo Malleus for through the use of the Emperor's Tarot, this inquisitor Santen du Chalaal divined that the world could become a Daemon World.

Which when the invasion force arrived, the cultists had already summoned their patron, the Chaos daemon Rudekai. While the battle for the fate of the planet went on, ironically, the mines that had been the refuge of the few the escaped became the fallback point of the cultists, and soon the two would meet. With the cultists killing any they found, it was when a cultist squad encountered Arkhan's group and when his parents was kiwered as they tried to escape. When Arkhan, in anger and grief, unleashed a blast of bio lightning at the squad. Killing the squad but went unconscious due to the burst of power.

When he woke up a week later, Arkhan was in an imperial base, and as he would find out. Avom was recaptured by the Imperium, and the daemon Rudekai was slain. With the most of surviving population undergoing mind wipes and sterilization. Only Arkhan and those the survived in the mines were only spared fate since it was clear that they were isolated from the events after the uprising and from Rudekai. Being caught in the dark about what was happening to the other survivors and were set to be relocated to other worlds. Still, Arkhan, now identified as a psyker. He wouldnt to the Scholastica Psykana by the Santen though unknowingly being watched by him as he took note of the surviving psyker and was curious of his potential.

So, Arkhan became a Sanctioned Psyker after proving himself strong in both mind and body. Which because of his talents and strength in character, he was selected to join the Inquisition and was offered by Santen to be his acolyte. Arkhan remembered the inquisitor from years ago who saved his homeworld and ultimately accepted the offer. It was some time under Santen that Arkhan learned the true events of what happened on Avom and the dangers of daemons and Chaos. Surprising Arkhan but strengthening his resolve that Archenemy must be defeated and humanity defended from its influence.

For 40 years, Arkhan and Santen traveled the galaxy. Hunting down daemons, stopping their summoning, dealing with chaos cults, and on one occasion, hunting down a rogue inquisitor that crossed the line and was deemed a traitor to the Imperium. It was during this time that Arkhan, was exposed to the Xenos Hybris ideology and though not a member of the Ordo Xenos. He still saw the value in using alien technology and lore to combat Chaos. Though he would keep quiet about this to Santen as while the two did share much in views. Santen was a firm believer in the evil of the alien.

It was after one grueling mission of hunting down the Chaos Demon Kazthac, which Arkhan slew, that Santen felt that Arkhan was ready to become an inquisitor. Arakan became a full-fledged inquisitor soon after and left Santen's retinue on good terms and went on his own missions. Now years later, after a short stint in the Calixis Sector helping the local inquisitors deal with a Phaenonite. He has uncovered information that the Phaenonite was working with a rouge inquisitor, and his new mission is to determine who this rouge inquisitor is and bring them to justice.

During the fight, Thyssine was mortally wounded, and with both of them knew they were adherents of Xenos Hybris. Thyssine asked Arkhan to take in her acolyte as she wants her to be in the party of a fellow adherent of Xenos Hybris. Not sure that the acolyte would up the task of hunting daemons, but agreed nonetheless and accepted the acolyte into his retinue.

Rescue at Gloronura IV- Arkhan while traveling from a recent mission near the Calixis Sector, receives a distress call from a Tech-priest group that, while recovering a STC on an abandoned forge world where they came under by a warband of Chaos Marines. All but two were dead, and the warband was mostly dead. Acting quickly Arkhan rushed to flank the Chaos Marines and managed to kill the rest of them. Earning the gratitude of the survivors and helping them to recover the STC but found it to be corrupted by Chaos. Dishearten by the failure of the mission, but grateful for the rescue. The tech-priest and her Skitarii offered to join Arkahn was tanks for saving their lives. Which Arkhan accepted and made sure she will be useful to him, elected to become Techsorcist, and joined Arkhan fully once she was trained.

Chaos Marines invasion of Mezak's Fall - Arkham was investigating signs of Chaos on the Armoury World of Mezak's Fall and discovered too late when the chaos cultists launched an uprising. While the loyal PDF fought the uprising, it turns out the uprising was a distraction and for a warband of Chaos Space Marines was inbound. Arkham was able to send for help and worked with the PDF to defend the planet's valuable military stockpile from falling into the traitors' hands. The Chaos Space Marines' arrival on Mezak nearly lost the world to Chaos but quick thinking by using the ancient weapons of the stockpile against invaders and the steel determination of the defenders. The PDF was able to hold out long enough for a relief force to arrive and end the war for the planet. While the survivors were ordered to be mind-wiped, one guardsman that fought alongside Arkhan showed unexpected courage and resolve against the cultists and later Chaos Space Marines. Enough that when the war was over, Arkhan offered the guardsman a place in his retinue, and he accepted.

She also acts as the retinue's expect on xeno technology and lore.

While she still handles the role of a tech-priest and handles all of the tech-related of the retinue. She has a greater understanding of Chaos-infected technology and corrupted machine spirits. She has developed an unusual mindset for a tech-priest because of it.

Gallode 71/9 Shurien - Male Skitarii - The Skitarii that came to join Arkhan's retinue alongside Rane. A Ranger, though, acts more like a bodyguard, Shurien is good at hunting, and Arkhan has used him on occasion to hunt down Chaos Cultists when not guarding Rane or Arkhan. Despite the metal in his body. He still retains some humanity and is most often around Rane when not on a mission

Krugmar wrote:Character Name: Aarios Rai
Alias/Epithets: The Basilisk, Magister Militum
Appearance: Aarios Rai
Personality: Cold, cruel, callous. These are the words remembrancers, Imperial officers, and even his own siblings would use to describe him.
Backstory: Pre-heresy and Great Crusade
Like his brethren Aarios was flung to a distant part of the galaxy. His pod landed upon the world of Stilicho, a bleak and miserable world where the populace gathered in militarised camps. Once much of the world had been united under an empire and had enjoyed prosperity, but a xenos assault left a deep scar. Though the xenos were repulsed, and never returned, the beasts of war they had introduced to the world thrived and multiplied out of control. The empire collapsed as its cities were overrun, the survivors banding together and eking out a spartan existence in the wilds.

Aarios was brought up in one such camp. His rapid growth and sheer size made him a candidate to join the planet's legions. He rose through the ranks quickly and emerged the camp's legate. For the first time they went on the offensive, slaying all manner of beasts and monsters. They assimilated other camps, many willingly, and painstakingly cleared areas and rendered them suitable for civilisation once more. He did not see his work finished, for the Emperor descended from the skies to allow Aarios to realise his true duty: to lead the Xth legion against the enemies of Mankind, across every single world.

Leaving Stilicho to those trusted lieutenants who declined the opportunity to become Astartes, he took command of his legion. Renaming them the Manticores, after one of the species of beast which had fought tenaciously and made him suffer his few defeats. Aarios and his legion soon gained a grim reputation as practitioners to the extreme of 'the ends justify the means'. Within his legion Aarios did not present himself as a paternal figure, but rather a overseer and taskmaster who responded to failure with cold anger, dispensing decimations to companies on numerous occasions.

The Heresy

When the heresy broke out Aarios was already dealing with his own problems, having been tricked into a trap by the Archtraitor which was designed to induce his fall to Khorne. Resisting the trap and the temptations, the Manticores threw themselves into the heresy with great zeal, intending to exact from the traitors a heavy toll. Records are unclear as to whether his legion took part in the defence of Terra, or arrived later (OP pending).

Post-heresy

He and his legion took part in the Scouring, taking great pleasure in cleansing traitorous worlds and destroying the planets of his fallen kin. After the Scouring he was named Magister Militum by the Council of Terra, using his keen organisation experience to split the Imperial Army into the Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy. With great reluctance he issued the Codex Astartes, dividing his own and his siblings' legions into small Chapters. This done his role became largely ceremonial. Though disappointed, he agreed with the Council's distrust of the Primarchs after the Heresy, and consigned himself to his role as a mere Chapter Master.

Records state he disappeared with his chapter's 1st Company at the turn of 32nd Millenium, his Battle-Barge Absolution being sucked into a warp rift after engaging the forces of chaos.

War Gear: Wyrmbane - A power blade reforged from the blade Aarios used to slay one of his planet's greatest Wyrms, Araghal the Black.
Man-Eater - An artificer multi-melta designed for one-handed use by a primarch
Aetius' Revenge - Artificer power armour made from auramite
Various - Aarios also possessed a variety of other standard weaponry, both melee and ranged, which had been reconfigured for usage by a primarch.

Astartes

Strike Cruiser Rage

Strike Cruiser Deus Magna
Several squadrons of smaller frigate and escort craft.

Chapter Manpower: 1000 Marines
Chapter Organization: As expected of a legion organised by one who enforced the Codex Astartes, the Manticores are extremely typical of the Codex's organisation.
Chapter History: A First Founding Chapter, the Manticores have a glorious history marred by their black reputation. Though respected for their loyalty and diligence towards the Imperium's defence, they are known to be callous towards human life and do not work well with other legions.

They spawned numerous other successor chapters, such as the Myrmidons, Gorgons, Brazen Beasts, Hounds of Dis, Black Griffons, White Griffons, Nemeans, Minotaurs, and many more

The Manticores Betcher's Gland has mutated into a venom which can no longer be sprayed, but has to be injected via a very painful bite. This is also true of their successor chapters.

Truth be told I feel a pull to try out for that last loyalist slot on the primarchs, but the demon list seems awfully thin in comparison. It's not finished yet but wanted to get a basic start up.

Character Name: Ezekyle Abbadon
Alias/Epithets: Warmaster of Chaos, Chosen of the Pantheon, 1st Captain, and Arch-Traitor
Appearance:
Personality: Arrogant, Spiteful, but driven Abbadon has been hardened by waging war in both the physical realm against the Imperium and in the metaphysical by resisting becoming a pawn for any within the Pantheon.
Backstory:
“Let me go back, Let me go back” Were the final words of Ezekyle Abbadon as First Captain of the Sons of Horus and the final living member of that oft-forgotten Mournival. Broken in both body and mind in the aftermath of the Saturnine Gambit. The future Warmaster still fought during the final moments of the Siege of Terra though he wasn’t there when the Emperor killed his gene-father Horus Lupercal. Taking his father’s corpse and his ship the Battle-Barge *Vengeful Spirit* the 1st Captain disappeared into the Eye along with the rest of the Nine Legions stewed within the perpetual warpstorm. While the various legions fractures and fought each other for scraps of slaves, armor, and geneseed Abbadon was alone in the middle of the eye. Reflecting on the failures of the Heresy and that of the future, the Son of Horus acted on none of this instead of wanting to live out his days experimenting on everything from the mechanical to the magical. That is until he was met by Tanos of the Wild Hunt, Archemus Kaul of the Blades of Solus, and Senbu of the Obsidian Medjay. These three warriors and their small warbands pleaded with Abbadon to return but were surprised to find that Abbadon was more than willing to take the mantle, not only that but for the decades spent in isolation he was planning for a new war, a Long War against the Imperium.

From there the new Black Legion was formed, at first it was seen as any other Warband until eventually, it swelled in size once word that the former 1st Captain of the Justarian was alive and at the head. At first, it was mostly former Sons of Horus seeking shelter in the storm of the Legion Wars but later more and more warbands gathered around the Warmaster as they were either destroyed or bent the knee until finally only the hurdle that stood between the Warmaster and total dominance over most of the Warbands was a Death Guard Captain by the name of Thagus Davarek. The two feuded for years and Davarek was seemingly always a step ahead of Abbadon’s assassin Senbu but once they finally crossed blades it was realized that the Captain had used the daemon Senbu owned as a barrier against Senbu and Senbu finally gutted both the daemon and the captain upon which he was nailed to the wall in the main hall of the Vengeful Spirit.

After this Abbadon lead the Black Legion into its First Black Crusade on word from a powerful daemon sword named Drach’Nyan. The spirit of the First Murder made manifest in a powerful blade that could destroy null fields had finally turned Abbadon into a powerful Warlord into the Warmaster of Chaos.

It is often said by those who only have maybe a quarter of the needed information that the 12 Black Crusades leading up to the 13th were failures by the Warmaster. That since the fortress world of Cadia stood in defiance of the Eye that Abbadon and the Black Legion had failed 12 times. This is untrue, the 12 Crusades that the Warmaster led were surgical strikes needed to weaken the Fortress World and the Necron pylons that lined the planet until finally the 13th was launched. What turned from a dire situation to a life-threatening one was the realization of the Warmaster’s plot and so the Imperium tried and failed to stop the Warmaster. In the span of a few days, the Imperium was split in half by the largest warpstorm since the birth of the Youngest God eons ago. While his true goal of Terra was snatched out from him by the reawakening of Titus Ironborn the Imperium had been crippled and the Crimson Path could finally begin in the Galatic North.

War Gear: Cataphractii Terminator Armor, Drach’Nyan Daemon Sword, and the Talon of Horus.

Character Name: Bertrand Lannes
Alias/Epithets: The High Marshal of the Emperor’s Templars, Lord Lannes
Appearance:
Image

Personality: He is an anomaly for a Chapter Master of his unwavering empathy for the ordinary civilian and soldier of the Imperium and just as courageous towards his duty as a warrior and a priest. Lannes is brash with his displeasure when an ally or peer engages in an action he sees as callous and apathetic utilitarianism. Nonetheless, if sacrifices have to be made, Lannes must make that difficult choice even if it brings him great shame.
Backstory: Born 600 years ago on the planet Gallia, he was once a simple human that could’ve lived a rather mundane, if stressful, life in the civilian industrial sector. Yet, there was a golden opportunity to become something greater in the Emperor’s Templars; a chance to become a Space Marine.

Once his initiation was complete and had drunk from the Golden Chalice, Lannes was nothing short of extraordinary. His will, intelligence, and skill in arms enabled him to soar above his peers and become a Marshal within his company before rising to become the High Marshal. Over the following centuries, Lannes fought every enemy that plagues the Imperial borders on every kind of battlefield on every type of planet. Aside from the fighting, the Chapter Master devoted some time to governing Gallia in place of the absent Napoli. Lannes ruled fairly and justly; promoting the Imperial Cult and attempting to be approachable by the common citizenry with variable success.

War Gear: Artificer Armor
Bolter
Melta Gun
Sword of Napoli: A Black Blade forged for jet-black solarite, this extremely massive zweihander is kept in reserve by the Chapter Masters until a battle brother receives a holy vision from the Emperor on the eve of battle to become the Emperor’s Champion, a daunting and righteous task to hunt down his most dangerous foes.

Sword of the High Marshals: A two-handed relic blade that serves as a sign of his office.

Union Princes wrote:Character Name: Bertrand Lannes
Alias/Epithets: The High Marshal of the Emperor’s Templars, Lord Lannes
Appearance:

Bolter
Melta Gun
Sword of the Emperor: A Black Blade forged for jet-black solarite, this extremely massive zweihander is kept in reserve by the Chapter Masters until a battle brother receives a holy vision from the Emperor on the eve of battle to become the Emperor’s Champion, a daunting and righteous task to hunt down his most dangerous foes.

Sword of the High Marshals: A two-handed relic blade that serves as a sign of his office.

Will have to change “The Sword of the Emperor,” name given the sword wielded by the Emperor has the same name.

(WIP)

Character Name: Ardimydas
Alias/Epithets: Malice, The Black One
Appearance: A Primarch, one touched by something worse than Chaos. Something truly alien. The massive figure is cloaked in a living shadow, ever writhing and twisting in a silent agony. The once proud panoply of the former Primarch adorns has become more eldritch flesh than ceramite, speckled with the horrifying visage of a legion of enslaved daemons. The mere sight of it is enough to drive lesser men to madness.
Personality: Once brash and solely dedicated to the service of the Emperor, over the course of the Great Crusade, the Primarch of the 18th fell to cynicism and bitterness as his sons were cut down in ever greater number, with no mention of their recognition despite their undeniable contributions. As of the 42nd millennium, only one thing remains constant. His craving for recognition. Ardimydas seeks to form an eternal monument out of the galaxy's destruction.

Backstory: Raised on the death world of Primos VII, the burgeoning Primarch led a slave revolt against the systems xeno overlords, casting them from the system. Soon after, he was contacted by one of his siblings, brought into the fold of the Imperium. Given control of his legion, the new Primarch soon made great inroads against the many far flung threats of the ever expanding Imperium of Man, serving as an outriding vanguard against upstart xenos and rogue human polities. But resentment grew as casualties mounted and the wider Administratum seemed deaf to calls for resupply. This ever increasing apathy indicated by the bloated bureaucracy of the Imperium soured relations, leading to the distant legion declaring its secession via astropath choir shortly before the outbreak of the heresy.

Ardimydas and his legion soon came under attack, their great fleets a hunting ground for an endless miasma of daemons. Ardimydas was trapped in this limbo for what seemed like centuries, engaged in an endless war against a deathless enemy. In desperation, he turned to what remained of his Librarius. A twisted ritual, forbidden sorcery called upon as a last hope. A dead god brought in chains, a battle fought among the mind.

A change.

A rot.

A prince.

A war.

A victory hard fought.

A Malice reborn.

War Gear/Daemonic Powers:

Sea of Souls: The power armour of the former Primarch. Boasting formidable protective capabilities against both physical and psychic attacks, a legion of enslaved daemons thrash within, the dregs of these wretched creatures spilling out in the Primarchs wake.

Warp Mastery: Ardimydas, although not necessarily a sorcerer, bears an instinctual insight into the maelstrom of agony that is the Warp that few can match. Seemingly slipping in and out of realspace, certain attacks have a chance to simply phase through him.

Razorhead: Ardimydas holds little sentimentally towards equipment, weapons deemed necessary created and dismissed in a matter of moments. All but one, that is. A gift from a sibling, the blade is beautifully maintained, still pristine despite thousands of years of use. Most interestingly, the blade bears no visible warp corruption.

Astartes/CSM
