Jackson remained calm despite his inner anger. "Sir," he said with a firm but polite voice, "I dispute your assertions and find your claims, frankly, to be insulting to the honor of the American military and our soldiers who fought and bled for the freedom and safety of Americans. Many of those accusations are made up and not supported by hard facts or evidence. Rape is indeed - unfortunately - an occurrence in every military occupation in history. But it was never tolerated by me. The Japanese authorities would agree with my assertion. Indeed; while rape and other violent crimes did take place in naval ports like Yokosuka and Yokohama during the first few weeks of occupation, according to Japanese police reports, the number of incidents declined shortly after and they were not common on mainland Japan throughout the rest of occupation. That's because I cracked down hard on such deplorable crimes and imposed discipline on our troops. Rape was never tolerated by me or my staff."

"Moving away from falsehoods that insult the American military, I would showcase the fact that Japan became a liberal - in the broadest sense of the word, not the common use of the term -, advanced and democratic nation. The new constitution drafted by my staff instituted a parliamentary system of government, removed the feudalistic privileges of the Emperor and the Japanese nobility, enfranchised women, guaranteed fundamental human rights, outlawed racial discrimination and strengthened the powers of Parliament. My staff also enacted land reform to take land away from feudalistic nobles and give it to the people who actually worked on it, while at the same time liberalizing the Japanese market. Japan now is a successful democratic country with a growing economy."

"If anything, you will hear the Japanese people state their respect for me and in fact I've been accused of being a Japanophile. Deliberately hurting the Japanese people would be the furthest thing from the truth. I can also assure people that as President I will crack down on crime and disorder hard: I will substantially increase federal aid to state and local law enforcement agencies, so they can hire more police officers. I will push for harsher sentences, so that criminals stay locked in prison where they belong. We will take action against organized crime. I will launch a War on Drugs to put an end to the narcotics' epidemic. And I will attack the root cause of crime by reforming our educational system to promote proper moral values."

"I believe the American people know better than to believe those who slander our armed forces and will trust a man who has fought for America in North Africa, Sicily, France, Germany and Korea for the liberties and security of the American people."

"So, yes, rape did go down. My next question is that part of this, according to historians, occurred due to your legalisation of prostitution and even the setting up of government-owned brothels. Can you explain, first, your opinion on prostitution, secondly, why these were set up, and thirdly can you assure the American people that there will not be legal prostitution under a Jackson Presidency, in spite of there being legal prostitution in Japan under your watch?"

"The Japanese authorities had set up a large system of prostitution in order to protect their population from sexual assault. As I stated, in every military occupation in history incidents of rape were unfortunately common, so the Japanese had legitimate fears about the American occupation. But such fears were quickly dismissed since I imposed discipline on our men and cracked down hard on such deplorable crimes. As such, brothels were shut down at the start of 1946 under my personal orders. I believe this can be assurance enough that a Jackson administration will not legalize prostitution in America."

"Sir, I believe in the freedom of the press and have politely answered to your questions. I have to state, however, that I find your questions insulting. Not to me; I have a thick skin and my legacy cannot be tarnished by such falsehoods. However, such slander insults American troops who fought, bled and - some of them - died to defeat Imperial Japan and defend America. I know that some liberal journalists love to insult our troops - that's why they cheer for the Vietcong - but I myself have the deepest of respect for the people who give up a life of comfort to fight, bleed and even die for their country in far away lands. And I believe the majority of Americans shares this belief of mine."

"I don't intend on anyone knowing about this agreement, I like you as our Speaker. And I'm willing to be the fall guy for this cause."

Campaign Schedule for Senator Burke
January 19: Washington, D.C.
A statement is released announcing that Senator Burke formed an exploratory committee to run for president.

February 1: Trenton, New Jersey
Senator Burke is joined by his family at the New Jersey Capitol Building to officially announce that he is seeking the Republican Nomination for President.

February 3: Ohio
Senator Burke met with former Congresswoman Lindquist. He also submitted a statement of support for General Jackson regarding the questions asked by a rude reporter in Sioux Falls.

February 8: Concord, New Hampshire
Senator Burke met with Senator (Norris Cotton) and leaders of the state legislature and addressed concerns about his economic and social policies. Burke emphasized his moderate and conservative policies over his liberal ones, but he also touched on the importance of civil rights. He also briefly mentioned the Equal Rights Amendment before moving on to infrastructure plans, specifically addressing improvements to various public works projects and improving public education. There was also a soft urge in his voice regarding creating peace in Vietnam through negotiations rather than continuing the war for years to come. Burke also gave nods to healthcare, emphasizing that creating a healthy atmosphere for health insurance was possible while protecting Americans– specifically, he targeted making sure that Americans with pre-existing conditions could not be discriminated against when it came to insurance.

February 9: Albany, New York
Senator Burke met with Governor Gerald Fritzinger and several important members of the state legislature, local construction unions, and party bosses and urged them to back his candidacy as he was the “most Fritzinger-esque candidate in the Republican running.” Burke emphasized his liberalism, specifically on civil rights, infrastructure, unions, and his plans for the TVA. Regarding the TVA, Burke laid out his plan for providing electricity for all Americans in full by describing how his NEEA would be covered through to the year 2000 without destroying the pockets of the American taxpayers in the process. Burke also requested that Fritzinger give him an endorsement early to strengthen New England and moderate-to-liberal Republicans than risk them being divided to give Jackson an easier chance to chase the nomination.

February 10: Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
Keeping in touch with the GOP’s moderates, Burke met with former Governor (Scranton) and sitting Governor (Shafer), focusing on infrastructure, civil rights, job creation, and fighting crime. They honed in specifically on how to take some of the greatest parts of the state of Pennsylvania nationally, specifically the falling unemployment rate and high wages that working-class people had at the time. Burke emphasized the importance of policy and duty regarding the Republican Party moving forward and expressed concerns that union voters, minorities, and other members of the Liberal Republican coalition would flee to the Liberal Democrats if Jackson was nominated. Burke made it clear that he believed that– for now, at least– the race was primarily between himself and Jackson, seeing Anderson largely as someone taking valuable moderate votes away from himself.

Columbus, Ohio
Betty-Anne for Senate Campaign HQ

Betty-Anne Lindquist and Senator Armstrong Burke
February 3rd, 1968

Betty-Anne: "Welcome Senator, I hope you don't mind meeting here. I am running on a fiscally responsible campaign for Senate and I don't have backers nationwide you see. I'm delighted to finally make your acquaintance."

Burke: "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, Congresswoman. Mind if I take a seat?"

Betty-Anne: "Oh yes, do! Pardon my manners, would you like any beverages or refreshments as well?"

Burke: "A coffee would do wonders if it is available. Thank you for offering."

Betty-Anne: "Absolutely," she turns to her aide, "coffee for the Senator." she turns back to Burke, smiling, "I am very glad you requested a meeting. I really thought your attacks were quite personal at first look."

Burke: "Yes, and again, I am so sorry that they came off that way. I very rarely attack or criticize-- positivity is typically most of my brand. I hope that we can both move past my mistake? I truly understand the unique importance and opportunities offered to our party by conservatives like yourself, even if they are some aspects of policy that we disagree on. There are some things that conservatives have gotten right-- specifically drugs and crime-- where I really think we can get some work done."

Betty-Anne: "I agree. One question though, do you want me in the Senate?" she says with a smile,

Burke: "I do, though unfortunately, that is not something I can fully embrace at this time. I believe that the best time to fully endorse your campaign will be on the 4th of July at a rally I have planned to take place in Columbus. If all goes to plan, General Jackson will also be in attendance. Governor Anderson will-- God willing-- be out of the race and on my list of endorsers by then. July 4th is the perfect time to do it, too-- it makes a very clear statement that conservatism is here to stay while making a good show of a united Republican front: liberals, conservatives, and moderates, all united behind one party, ready to face down the Democrats. It sends an especially strong message to the Democrats, too-- did you see the news about Senator Simpson's rally? Absolutely preposterous. Hardly anything worthy of the US Senate."

Betty-Anne: "Wonderful to see that we can agree on a few things. I heard a rumor that Senator Simpson was a homosexual transvestite and frequents homosexual clubs and bars. I couldn't believe my ears when he spoke. Anywho, you say you want Governor Anderson out of the race. Correct? What about the General, do you have any plans on how you plan to oust him from the primary?"

Burke: "Yes, I want Anderson gone. I plan to do that by running to his right socially while maintaining my long-standing economic policies but with a touch more fiscal responsibility than I've used in the past. I'm also looking at some tax cuts for the middle class, the working class, and our low-income people. As for General Jackson? I want him to be my vice president."

Betty-Anne: "I beg your pardon?" she laughs before regaining her composure, "I apologize, but I believe you just said you want General Jonathan Jackson, the Secretary of State for President Henry Davis, to be your Vice President? Ha! You'd have a better time selling an icebox to an Eskimo. He's been second fiddle for the majority of his life, he's going all-in this time around. You as his Vice is a possibility, but him with you? I'd say that is absolutely out of the question."

Burke: "I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but four years ago, Thomas Silvermilk winning the Republican nomination and winning several southern states was absolutely out of the question. General Jackson won't come easily, but I think that he can be convinced after realizing that most Republicans don't want to wait four more years to win the White House. Even if he doesn't accept that, I want him involved in any administration I lead. He's a good man. A great man. I trust him."

Betty-Anne: "Oh, don't get me started on Silvermilk. That was a goddamn setup, we should've won that election and could have too. Jackson can beat the likes of Mr. Pinko, very easily in my calculation. He's a wonderful man, a very charming, tantalizing, individual. You leading him would be like Nelson leading Pike Davis. I couldn't see that happening. I couldn't picture it. Especially since people like me, and yes, General Jackson quote, 'push for agendas that would decimate the economy, support the Dixiecrats' racist agenda, and destroy the relationships that Republicans like me have built between businesses and organized labor.' if I remember correctly."

Burke: "Congresswoman, I've apologized for that-- and... Wait a moment, are you saying that you believe the election of 1964 was stolen?"

Betty-Anne: "The election of 1964 was won by President Lauderdale fair and square. I don't know where you were at, but my book pushed Silvermilk over the edge and won him that primary, he even says so. We got voters to come off of the farms, out of the suburbs, and into the polling places. Fritzinger and his like were 180 degrees off of our base, when Silvermilk won the primary, Fritzinger and his people didn't come out to the general. Was the election stolen from Silvermilk? Yes! But not by the Democrats, but by the people who pledged support to our party. They went to Lauderdale, it's upsetting. I could rant for hours, but what I'm focused on now is 1968. Not only do I want republicans to win the election, Senator, but I also want to have a strong, capable leader with gritted teeth willing to fight all of our evils foreign AND domestic. I know the General supports that message, as do you, I hope."

Burke: "I backed Senator (Margaret Smith) in '64. I wrote in (Dick Nixon). I'm willing to fight, and I've been fighting for decades, Congresswoman. I have fought for the average American-- the working man-- my entire life. I've stood up to Red China, the Soviets, the Viet Cong, you name it. I've fought the corrupt labor unions, I've done everything in my power to stave off the worst excesses of the Great Society, and I've done what was within my power to bring sensible moderation instead of radical extremism from the left or right to the heart of every piece of legislation I've ever written. I've worked and fought to make sure that we uphold our ideals-- that all people are created equal and that they have certain inalienable rights, among them are life, liberty, and property. I supported the Civil Rights Act which did just that. Silvermilk opposed it on a Constitutional basis whereas you opposed it because you're a segregationist. We can dig up all the history you'd like, Congresswoman, and we can debate which of all the people in the world will do everything in their power to fight the wrongs of this world for the benefit of all people, but at the end of the day, we're Republicans, and we ought to act like it."

Betty-Anne: laughs and smiles "I don't know what you're talking about, Senator. I opposed the CRA because it was dangerous. I don't campaign on 'segregationist' views. I believe that ALL Americans are equal, I have never in all of my life said that anyone was less than me, ever. Don't you dare say you've fought for Americans, where were you during the war? I was working. I was working for the army. Where were you? I think I know all I need to know about you, especially after you bring in the name of (Mrs. Smith and Mr. Nixon). While you were legislating, I was writing and educating myself. I know National Defense and Foreign Policy top to bottom. I know the law top to bottom. My 'radical extremism' won a man a primary, with the support of Fritzinger's supporters we could have won. I have no personal issues with anyone, but I do have an issue with being called a bigot, and a segregationist. How dare you liken me to (Not-Bilbo) to the disgusting Dixie-dancers of the south? Unless you have an apology or anything to say of great importance, I think you can pick up your coffee out in the lobby, Senator."

Burke: "I don't apologize to racists. That's why I'll never consider Zebulon a Republican. Good day, Mrs. Lindquist. Enjoy your campaign."

Betty-Anne: "Find proof, out me as a segregationist!" she yells after him

Speach in Gary Indiana from Louis Blockett
"Hello, I am Louis Blockett, your representative. I do have a few disagreements with Senator Yakobsky, but I understand that we must win the the general election. Matis K. Yakobsky is the only person in the Democratic primary that can win the general election. Matis Yakobsky may not be the best person for the job, but he is much better than Jackson. Johnathan Jackson would reverse years of progress, while Matis Yakobsky will help ensure that the progress that has been made in recent years us not lost. I urge all voters who are hesitant about voting for Matis Yakobsky to think about Johnathan Jackson as president. I am endorsing Matis K Yakobsky for president."

February 10

After his campaign rally, Jackson met with South Dakota's Republican Senator [Not-Karl Mundt]. Having served as Governor of South Dakota, he of course knew the man already and they had spoken again before. Jackson would remind him that they are both South Dakotans, and of the work Jackson did to improve conditions in South Dakota as Governor. He stated that as President, he would push for the selection of South Dakota as the state where the Center for Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) would be constructed, a project that [Not-Karl Mundt] had been supporting.

Jackson also met with his close associate [Not-Nils Boe], who had succeeded him as Governor of South Dakota. The two had worked closely together, and Jackson had supported [Not-Nils Boe]'s bid to succeed him in the Governor's office. As such, Jackson reasonably expected to have his support for his presidential bid. Jackson reminded him of their close cooperation and their common views on a number of economic issues.

February 12

Jackson held a rally at Cheyenne, Wyoming, and was greeted by enthusiastic supporters. Some quotes from his speech:

"We have lost our optimism as Americans. I remember the times when we were actually hopeful about the future and confident in America's strength. Now, because of this Administration's repeated failures - both domestically and abroad - , many Americans feel hopeless and have a deep sense of disappointment. Some even ask; did American boys die in Normandy and Korea for this? As President, I shall restore hope and confidence in our collective strength. I shall make people be proud once again to be citizens of the greatest nation on Earth's history."

When the strongest nation in the world can be tied down for four years in a war in Vietnam with no end in sight; when the richest nation in the world can't manage its own economy; when the nation with the greatest tradition of the rule of law is plagued by unprecedented lawlessness; then it is a time for change. Great nations which fail to meet their responsibilities are consigned to the dustbin of history - and we cannot let his happen, for the shake of not only America but rather of the entire Free World. America is a shining beacon of liberty in a world where the forces of despotism are marching forward. It is an unique experiment in human liberty, one built on spirit, optimism, faith in God and an unshakeable belief that free men and women could govern themselves: an example for all those who cherish freedom. We have a responsibility to both our ancestors and future generations - as well as all those peoples who look up to us as an example to follow - to not let this country wither."

Jackson after the rally met with Republican Senator [Not-Clifford Hansen]. Senator [Not-Clifford Hansen] was known for his social and fiscal conservatism, so Jackson mentioned his support for a balanced budget, putting a stop to new government programs, cutting government waste, cracking down on riots, crime and drugs, and passing a Morality Amendment to protect traditional moral values and safeguard the sacred institution of the American family. Jackson also praised the state programs [Not-Clifford Hansen] had instituted as Governor to combat alcoholism and mental illness, and stated that he would support increased federal funding to states for such programs.

Jackson also met with the Republican Governor [Not-Stanley K. Hathaway]. He praised his environmental initiatives, and stated that as President he would balance the need for a free market unburdened by red tape with sensible regulations on pollution. He stated that while he belongs to the conservative wing of the GOP, he is not a radical but a pragmatist who is willing to reach compromises with the moderate faction of the party. He also assured him that as a celebrated war hero and sensible pragmatist, as candidate he would be able to avoid a repeat of 1964 but rather he would bring victory for the Republicans as another celebrated war hero - Henry Davis - had done.

February 14

Jackson spoke to a rally in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some quotes from the speech:

"Faith and freedom must be our guiding stars, for they show us truth, they make us brave, give us hope, and leave us wiser than we were."

"As a devout Christian, I firmly believe in the need of social programs designed to help the poorest in our society. But throwing tax money is not always the right answer; often, in fact, it is the wrong answer. It creates of culture of dependence to the government - which is dangerous for the liberty of the individual -, adds up to our rising debt and national deficit, and drains our resources from more productive endeavors. Worse still; dysfunctional social programs enrich DC bureaucrats at the expense of hard-working, tax-paying Americans who sweat and toil all day long. As President, I shall put an end to new programs cooked up by DC bureaucrats to drain even more tax dollars; and I shall work hard to cut waste and make sure that social programs we've already have in place actually work in practice and help people."

"As President, I will aim to unleash the productive energies of American enterprise by slashing taxes and needless regulations. There is no greater engine of progress, economic growth and poverty reduction than the private American enterprise. And I am not talking about big corporations only; I am talking especially about the mom and pop of the neighborhood shop. Rising taxes and needless regulations hurt those people the most, as they force them to hike prices in order to be able to make a living profit, thus making them uncompetitive. That is unacceptable. As President, I will be the champion of the middle class and small business owners."

After the rally, Jackson met with Senator [Not-Wallace F. Bennett]. [Not-Wallace F. Bennett] had a reputation as a pro-business conservative who opposed government regulations and had voted against the creation of Medicare. Jackson told him that as President, he would run a fiscally conservative administration. Jackson assured him that he would slash taxes, revise government regulations that only add up red tape and raise the cost of doing business, and would cut waste in government.

February 16

Jackson spoke at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona. Quotes from his speech:

"The Democrats claim to be supporting the working man; but inflation is killing the value of the dollar and their ever increasing regulations on on housing, mining, and industrial concerns will increase unemployment. They claim to be waging a war on poverty; for the past five years we have been deluged by government programs for the unemployed; programs for the cities; programs for the poor. And we have reaped from these programs an ugly harvest of frustration, violence and failure across the land. I say it is time to turn a new page, throw away the failed playbook of the Democrats, and let government use its tax and credit policies to unleash the productive energies of the greatest engine of progress ever developed in the history of man - American private enterprise."

"I believe we need to rationalize the administration of the current social programs already in place; cutting expenses, streamlining them and ensuring they actually help people - instead of trying to pass new complex, unneeded and costly government programs that simply won't work. I also believe our focus should be on reducing the tax burden of the average American, balancing our budget, bringing down our inflation and restoring confidence in the dollar so people can be assured that their government is not going to rob them of their savings."

Jackson, after the rally, met with Thomas Silvermilk. Despite his decisive defeat at the 1964 elections, Silvermilk was still an important figure in the Republican Party and especially respected by the conservative wing of the party. Jackson reminded him that while other Republicans had opposed him, even after he had won the nomination, he had supported his 1964 campaign. He also touted his conservative credentials: his support for lower taxes, slashing needless regulations, putting an end to new government programs, and balancing the budget. Jackson also stated that Silvermilk's support for him would ensure that the conservative wing of the party be able to consolidate behind a single strong candidate instead of being split and weak; and this would allow conservatives to continue to be influential in the GOP.

Jackson also met with Republican Senator [Not-Paul Fannin], who had a reputation as a hardline conservative. He repeated many of the same talking points he had used with Silvermilk; his fiscal conservative, his belief in economic liberty and the American private enterprise, his desire for a fiscally conservative administration. He also noted his strong support for law and order, and his socially conservative views and support of family values. He also noted that if conservatives did not want to be consigned to the status of a loud minority after the 1964 defeat, they needed to consolidate behind a single strong candidate who could also appeal to moderates thanks to his war hero status.

February 18

Jackson attended a rally at Sacramento, California. Quotes from his speech:

"The time has come to turn to God and reassert our trust in Him for the healing of America. We are seeing our youth corrupted by drug peddlers, we are seeing violence and riots on our streets, we hear sirens in the night, we see innocent, law-abiding people being murdered by criminals. Our country is in need of a spiritual renewal. We need an educational system that promotes proper, moral values; patriotism, honesty, work-ethic and a deep faith in God. We need to put an end to the moral decay of America and return back to the values that made this country the greatest nation in the history of mankind."

"Democrats have been prioritizing appeasing the rioters, the criminals, the drug addicts, the flag-burning socialists to protecting the rights of law-abiding, patriotic, tax-paying, hard-working Americas. Those are the great majority of Americans, the forgotten Americans - the non-shouters; the non-demonstrators. They work in America's factories, they run America's businesses, they provide most of the soldiers who died to keep us free. They are the ones who make America a great nation. They are the backbone of the American society. As President, I'll aim to represent this silent majority."

"Restoring law and order is something we can do, but only if there is political resolve. As President, I will increase federal aid to state and local law enforcement agencies, to help them hire more officers. I will reform the justice system, in order to see sentences harshened and ensure that criminals stay in jail where they belong! Our new Attorney General will be directed to launch a war against organized crime. We shall also launch a War on Drugs, increasing sentences for both users and dealers, and finally putting an end to the narcotics' epidemic. America shall become safe again!"

After the rally, Jackson met with Governor [Not-Reagan], a prominent figure in the conservative wing of the GOP. He told him directly that he hoped to have his endorsement in his presidential bid. He told him about his fiscal conservative views - his belief in balancing the budget, cutting government waste, preventing new government programs, slashing needless regulations and reducing taxes - and his social conservative views - his strong support for law and order, his proposed War on Drugs, his call for a Morality Amendment and educational reform so as to push back against 'moral degeneracy', his support for criminalizing flag burning, and his deep Christian faith. He also told him of his opposition to the "appeasers" in both parties and his support for escalating and winning the war in Vietnam. He assured him that as President he would not give in to calls for "surrendering to the Vietcong". Jackson also praised the Governor for his governing record. Last but not least, he reminded him that if the conservative wing of the party desires to remain relevant after the catastrophe of 64, it must unite behind a strong candidate who has wide appeal outside the confines of that wing but who also will pursue conservative priorities.

Jackson also met with Republican Senator [Not-George Murphy], known for his support of the Vietnam War. He assured him that a Jackson administration would be strong of national defense and would not abandon South Vietnam; instead, Jackson would make use of his extensive experience as military commander and Secretary of State to defeat the Vietcong. Jackson also praised [Not-George Murphy] for his fundraising abilities, and told him that his support for his presidential bid would be extremely valuable. He told him that he could unite the conservative and moderate wings of the GOP and win the elections thanks to his status as a war hero and national celebrity - reminding him that the last Republican to win presidential elections was Henry Davis, a fellow war hero.

The Soul of the Republican Party
Michael Jackson

The battle unfolding before our eyes in the Republican Party is not a simple contest between individual politicians. It is rather a battle for the soul of the Republican Party, and for the soul of our grand nation. On the one side, you have liberal politicians who wish to end whatever pretenses Republicans have of representing the conservatives of this nation. The same kind of politicians who sabotaged Thomas Silvermilk in 1964 and hope to bury the conservative movement he revived. On the other side, you have a man who finally stands up for conservative values. This battle shall determine whether the Republican Party becomes a lite Democratic Party, content with being a center-left alternative to the Democrats' leftism, or if the Republican Party shall return back to its conservative roots and fight back against those who have perverted our Constitution, sacred institutions and traditions.

The so-called Great Society and supposed 'War on poverty' have been an attack on American liberties. We've seen an expansion of government programs to an extend unprecedented in our history. We've been seeing an attack against the Christian faith and traditional moral values, cheered on by liberals. This is not pursued by accident. Liberalism is piecemeal socialism, and socialism always attacks three institutions: religion, family, and property. Religion, because it offers a rival authority to the State; family, because it means a rival loyalty to the State; property, because it means independence from the State. Liberal politicians in DC, in the guise of progress, attack religion and tradition. In the guise of 'gender equality', they attack the nuclear family and push women to abandon the raising of their children. In the guise of taking care of the poorest, they attack private property. The end goal is socialism. Make no mistake.

The attacks of those liberals against 'big corporations' are simply an excuse, to justify their power-grabbing. Here we are, in the century that has seen Lenin, Stalin, Ling Ban-Chao, Hitler, and we're still being warned against the 'robber barons' of the 19th century. I don't know that Jay Gould or John D. Rockefeller ever killed anyone; the state though has killed countless people, and yet we're always supposed to remain on guard against these 'greedy villains' of yesteryear. And it is that narrative that is used by liberals to justify their piecemeal socialism.

Only one candidate in the Republican race has spoken strongly about this attack on American liberties; General Jackson. He is the only Republican candidate who dares to speak up against the expansion of state powers, against the pervesion of our Constitution, against the erosion of our values. He is the only candidate to have addressed the problem of atheism, degeneracy and debauchery that is being promoted to our youth. Mr. Jackson has stated that we need to promote once again good moral values to our youth. I concur. Conservatives should be adamant about the need for the reappearance of Christianity in the public square. He has spoken about the need to reduce the size and scope of government. I concur. Liberty and individualism must prevail, not collectivism and tyranny. For even a democratic government can be tyrannical, since it is the extent, not the source, of government power that impinges on freedom. That's why government must be limited. He has spoken about the need to confront aggressively communist expansionism and beat the Vietcong in Vietnam. I concur. It was the appeasement of idealistic pacifists that brought upon the world the horrors of the second Great War.

General Jonathan Jackson represents the last hope conservatives have of saving the soul of the Republican Party and fighting back against atheism, socialism and collectivism. If the battle is lost, the two major parties of our nation shall be liberal. Our democracy shall consist of choosing if we want big government or even bigger government. It will be the choice between Lenin or Stalin. Only by winning this battle, can we ensure that the American people get a real choice in the elections and that our democracy is preserved.

Burke: "We Will Go to the Moon, and We Will Win the Cold War"

"We will go to the Moon, and we will win the Cold War!" Senator Armstrong Burke (R-NJ) said in an interview this week while on the campaign trail. Mr. Burke, a member of the Eastern establishment of the Republican Party, is a long-time progressive and advocate for America's advancement in the space race. Since NASA was founded in 1958, Burke has voted in favor of increasing NASA's funding each time that it has come to a vote, calling for America's victory in the space race by demolishing the Soviets in the areas of education and science.

"Education and scientific advancement are two of the key things that give us an edge over the Soviets. We keep our people well-educated, get them to use that education to advance our society, advance our sciences-- then we not only go to the Moon before the Soviets do, but we win the Cold War long before it has a chance to get hot." Mr. Burke went on to elaborate on the importance of the Cold War in his presidential campaign, citing that keeping NATO and the UN strong is the best way to combat Soviet and Red Chinese influence in global affairs. "By working with our allies, we can contain communism, and by showing the communists the might of capitalism, we can prove to them that their system doesn't work. We can make a show of force without killing kids in Vietnam."

Mr. Burke is an advocate for ending the Vietnam War with a comprehensive peace treaty that would keep North Vietnam and South Vietnam as separate nations until a better solution can be presented that is acceptable to all parties involved. "There's a better path forward. I see it, my fellow Republicans see it-- I'm sure that the president sees it and just isn't working toward it. I see it, I'm willing to work towards it, and I'm ready to get the work done that needs to be done."

Rep. Truman Backs Sen. Yakobsky, Calls Sen. Simpson "Psychopath like Sharp"

Representative Ronald Truman (D-SD) held back no punches in a press statement he made attacking Senator Abraham Simpson (D-MA) before endorsing Senator Matis K. Yakobsky (D-IL). "Simpson is a fool and is a psychopath like Sharp was. Remember him, the bumbling idiot that ran for president in 1960? The only thing Simpson has on Sharp is that one of them supports civil rights and the other didn't."

Mr. Simpson has lost support among many voting blocs, particularly veterans following his rigid attacks on General Jonathan Jackson and others. "I am against Jap Jackson, not any single one of the Japanese race. I hold nothing against them. They should be proud of their god-given heritage. If they want to shout 'banzai' at three in the morning, let them do it! My beef is not with Asia proper, but with Japanese Jackson," Mr. Simpson said in New Hampshire. Mr. Simpson was not available for comment due to his campaign schedule.

Columbus, Ohio
Betty-Anne for Senate Campaign HQ

Betty-Anne Lindquist and Fmr. Governor Glen Anderson
February 21st, 1968

Anderson: "Thank you for seeing me Congresswoman, I’m sure you’re busy with your run"

Betty-Anne: "Quite busy indeed, Mr. Anderson. It's wonderful to have heard from you though. Your campaign interests me a great deal.

Anderson: "I’m happy to hear it’s of interest, I hope the rest of Ohio shares your opinion chuckles. I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have, I certainly have a few for you."

Betty-Anne: "Of course. My first question for you relates to your time as Governor. I believe you were one of Not-Jack Kennedy's Republican supporters? Correct me if I'm wrong, please. I think that you also were hesitant to support Senator Not-Goldwater after formerly supporting Mr. Rockefeller. They were two extremely different people, and I just want to know who you identify with more. After all, Mr. Rockefeller isn't the type of person I'd generally see myself supporting."

Anderson: "I’m an Not-Eisenhower guy first and foremost… for JFK, when he cut taxes I supported him, I think he did a good job with the Cuban Missile crisis, he took a hardline against communism, had tight spending discipline, gave our space program a boost, supported welfare reform, was tough on unions… He wasn’t perfect but when I thought he did a good job I said so. I’ll never be one not to speak my mind."

"Not-Rockefeller, he did a lot of good government stuff, knows how to run a business, good on conservation, instituted tough crime measures like stop and frisk… and frankly I didn’t see us winning the legislature in 64 regardless of the nominee. I thought we needed someone who could wrangle the dems."

"Goldwater, I grumbled but so did most of the party, you know that’s true and if I win the nomination I expect something similar. But end of the day I fought for him, I’ve campaign for Republicans of all stripes my whole career which is more than a lot of people did in 64."

Betty-Anne: "We can agree to disagree on Not-Kennedy and the Cubans, but Not-Goldwater is something that hits close to home. I'm sure you've heard of my books. Most importantly, "A Promise Not A Threat" Goldwater's campaign distributed it everywhere. In my book, I distinctly remember saying that Not-Rockefeller republicans were taking the party and putting it down the commode. Commies of the Northeast. I don't think you're one of them. Regardless, I think my base might."

"What separates you from Not-Nixon? I feel like we don't need another Not-Nixon candidate running, he couldn't beat Not-Kennedy in '60 and I don't think a copy of him can win in '68. Not-Goldwater could have won, I feel like he could've won and made a magnificent president, Not-Nixon on the other hand, I dont know. We need someone strong, someone with fire and grit to win that election, do you believe you have that fire in you? I am a bit hesitant, you cozy up with liberals far too easy at the moment. What is your platform?"

Anderson: "Can we back up a second? Why do you think Not-Goldwater could win in 68 despite how 64 went? He’s young, could run again this year"

Betty-Anne: "'64 went the way it did because we couldn't unify the party. We had moderates and liberals who went for Not-Rockefeller and didn't come back for Not-Goldwater. We are currently at a moral crossroad, we are in the middle of a war, and we are in the midst of domestic terrorism and unrest. We need a staunch Anti-Communist and moral leader who can stand up straight and walk tall against corruption, communism, domestic unrest, and terrorism. Not-Goldwater embodied all of that in '64 and would embody it again if he would win. He is the face of libertarianism and the face of conservatism at the same time. I doubt he'll run again this year. '64 left him with empty pockets and a down-trodden base. If we reinvigorated that base we could get places."

Anderson: "Hey if someone like say, Not-Reagan ran in the future I’d be right behind him."

"But to your question, I don’t consider myself anything other than a “Republican”, liberal, conservative, I don’t believe in those labels. I’m certainly not a Not-Rockefeller Republican after he abandoned the party in 64."

"Policy wise, too much expansion of government, utter failure when it comes to stoping drug abuse and crime, raised taxes far too readily. I think his housing policies are going to spell massive problems in the long term."

Betty-Anne: "Here is some common ground. I can stand behind those sentiments. I feel like that is what my campaign is going for. Bringing a true conservative view to the table. I believe in supporting modern average Americans. My focus group are families. Bringing the "Leave it to Beaver" type of family back to the forefront of society is my goal, would you agree with that?"

Anderson: "I don’t know what the true Golden Age of America will be, but during the Not-Ike years we got pretty damn close. Giving more Americans that kind of life is about the highest ideal you could strive for."

Betty-Anne: "He was a bit more moderate and cozy than I personally liked, but I do agree that those were the nicest times America has had so far. I believe you said you had a couple of questions for me?"

Anderson: "Hey sometimes all he could do with veto, he didn’t have much of a friendly Congress to work with."

"Question for you is what you’d be willing to support in regards to Vietnam. In my estimation a fundamental error was made on Not-Kennedy’s watch, when the Soviet Union and Ho Chi Minh decided to test, at places of their choosing, the nerve and stamina of a new administration. And they decided not to stand in Laos."

"I don’t want war but if we have a war I’m going to give our troops the maximum level of support and do so immediately. I plan on taking the fight to the North and making it hurt. As Senator what would your red line be in terms of military options?"

Betty-Anne: pulls out a notebook from her handbag, "In my opinion as a pundit of National Defense, I believe that Not-Kennedy, the Bay of Pigs, and the Cuban Missile Crisis were all tragedies because our country didn't listen to reliable experts. Where were they when the Soviets quietly snuck missiles onto an island mere miles away from our coast? Where were they when the Soviets and Ho Chi Minh decided to create a disgustingly evil wave of Communism? Either leadership was idiotic, or the experts were. My opinion is that there is no red line. It doesn't matter if women, children, or Vietnamese elders are put at risk."

"We must defend the United States against the Commie scum that litter that area of the world. From Asia to Europe, to even our own continent, we must rid the world of communism and spread Democracy at any costs. I don't care if it means bombs, I don't care if it means wiping the Vietnamese population down to negative one hundred. Forty-one million people in the country of Vietnam turning communist red is a risk to the two hundred million people we have in the states. I don't give a rat's toenail what the cost is, wiping the Soviets off of the world scale and making them the teaspoon of our gallon is my goal."

Anderson: "This latest offensive… it was slow, painful preparation, entailing the movement of 200, 000 men by foot over hundreds of miles of jungle trails, could not be concealed from American intelligence… and yet it seems the administration did nothing to prepare or prevent the attack."

"I’m not a hawk to your level but I agree that we need to review our options and double down in terms of our commitment. Mining their harbors, pursuing their troops and aircraft all the way, hitting the infrastructure and striking deep. That’s how we win."

Betty-Anne: "I couldn't agree more. No point in hitting the roads, the commies travel by jungle vines. If we cut off their supply from whomever they are getting their weapons from then we'd be golden. I guess, if we absolutely need to, we should scare them with World War Three type of feeling. Test some of our weapons where the Ruskies and Ho Chi Mihn can see. What the current administration is doing is tip-toeing around the border of communism and war. 'Do we go all in?' is what the current administration is asking. Meanwhile, our boys die, and the communists come closer to entering our very own border. I refuse to vote for any candidate that doesn't support going in strong and hard in regards to National Defense, Domestic Affairs, and affairs overseas."

Anderson: "That being said I do think we need to take a hard look at scaling back the powers of the President to make war without the consent of Congress. They’re being given more and more leeway and we need to make sure it’s explicitly the role of Congress to do so."

Betty-Anne: "I somewhat disagree. Had Not-Roosevelt had the ultimate power of going to war without Congress, Pearl Harbor wouldn't have occurred, and the Fascists would've been taken down before we would have needed to drop the bombs. Not-Brezhnev can launch missiles, lead armies, and send them to wherever he wants them to at the dial of a telephone. We cannot vote for a leader and entrust him with the power to be diplomatic with countries and not entrust him with the power of being aggressive should he decide we need to be. I understand the role of checks and balances, but I do believe, the ultimate authority goes to the president."

"The red tape of bureaucracy caused our boys to die on our home front at Pearl Harbor, if giving ultimate power to the president would stop things like that from occurring, I am in total support. I do feel, however, that there should be an amendment to the twenty-fifth amendment giving Congress and the vice president the power to take away that power should they feel the President isn't able to have that power, in which case I believe congress should have that explicit role. Otherwise, I believe the president ought to be in direct control as commander-in-chief."

Anderson: "You mention Pearl Harbor, you think FDR should have been able to go to war without Congress?"

Betty-Anne: "You say it as though I'm wrong. Lives could have been saved, fascists defeated, and we could still have our nuclear power hidden away from the prying eyes of the Russians."

Anderson: "Go to war earlier? Sure I agree. Go to war without Congressional approval? That’s a power no one should have."

Betty-Anne: "The president is the commander-in-chief, the highest member of the military. He can launch nuclear missiles at any moment but he can't declare war? I disagree."

Anderson: "Would you want this president to be able to declare war and send our military into harms way in the time and manner of his choosing? Without any oversight?"

Betty-Anne: "As I have said, if Congress and the Vice President decide that the President has done something with no true reason then they have the right to revoke that specific power. I support that, I said so a few moments ago."

Anderson: "But only after the fact?"

Betty-Anne: "Mr. Anderson, the Vice President is both in the executive and legislative branches as President of the Senate. The Vice President, if I am given the ability to write legislation, would be something of a go-between of Congress and the President. During the decision-making process of Declaring a War, which is impossible to do within a few moments in a room alone, if the ice President determines that the war is unjust or uncalled for, he can then invoke my amendment taking the power away from the President temporarily, and then go to Congress with this determination to permanently revoke the power away from the President. It is absolutely possible, in fact, it was something my professor spoke about when I was going to school for law. I assume you disagree?"

Anderson: "Yes I find value in preventing such actions from happening in the first place. I believe the President should be empowered to act quickly and decisively when necessary but only for a limited time period without the consent of Congress. Our difference of opinion lies in whether or not the President should be required to prove the justice of his actions, or whether it falls to Congress to prove the injustice of his actions."

Betty-Anne: "Innocent until proven guilty. I'd say the latter. The President makes his case when he wins his office, to begin with. He should be given the full trust of the American people. Which will in turn take out federal red-tape and save taxpayer money, as well as lower the size of the government."

Anderson: "Is this a stance you’re going to campaign on?"

Betty-Anne: "Absolutely not. I believe in cutting federal red tape and lowering taxes, I'll run on that. But absolutely no reason to talk about the President starting future wars when we are currently in the middle of one. It's a touchy subject. And I know well enough about politics and the people of Ohio to know that certain stances may not be the most popular at this current date and time. Why do you ask?"

Anderson: "You answered your own question, because I wasn’t sure of it popularity among the Ohio electorate. Which brings me to my next question, I want to see taxes lowered and red tape cut but without a strong Republican legislature I’ll have to pick and choose where to cut taxes. Which areas would you want me to focus on?"

Betty-Anne: "It isn't the most popular thing but if we want to get the new and upcoming suburban base, I'd say we cut taxes on the middle to upper middle class. I'd like to see more money in the pockets of Americans who work for it and of businesses that work even harder to get it."

Anderson: "Any place you wouldn’t want to see it?"

Betty-Anne: "The poor. I feel like the poor don't pay enough as it is. Most of them are welfare queens committing fraud against the government anyway. Welfare and governmental aid services are absolutely unnecessary in my opinion. Sure, I wasn't poor, but many of the poor people today put themselves there. I lived through the depression and came out just fine. We aren't in a depression and the poor people continue to grovel. I have nothing against them in particular, I simply feel like they are taking advantage of the government when they should be taking advantage of their freedom to work and build upwards."

Anderson: "Well welfare reform is on the agenda. Any welfare we have should be geared to getting people off said welfare in the immediate future."

Betty-Anne: "I would 100% support you in that endeavor as President should you win. As Senator, tax and welfare reform will be some of my top priorities."

Anderson: "How do you think my odds are with the Ohio delegation?"

Betty-Anne: "With my help, favorable. Without my help, dreary. I helped Not-Goldwater win state after state in the primary of '64 with my one book. Had the governor not run, I think Not-Goldwater would have won Ohio too."

Anderson: "And is your help achievable?"

Betty-Anne: "It depends on what I get out of it. My base heavily favor General Jackson as do I, but like all good Americans, I am willing to be swayed."

Anderson: "I’m sure they do. But that’s a double edged sword, endorse him that doesn’t expand anyones support or he you. You and I can expand into our respective bases."

Betty-Anne: "I see your point. My people are weary though. They are weary of (Not Rockefeller) Republicans who left us during '64 for personal reasons. Were you one of them?"

Anderson: "I campaigned for Goldwater across the country, raised money, rallied the troops, and denounced those who didn’t get on board. And I proudly voted for the man."

Betty-Anne: "I'm glad about that. With that being said, I think the General is the most (Not-Goldwater) politician in the race. I'll tell you what. If you can assure me that if you win the primary, the General is somewhere in either your cabinet or even as your VP? That idiotic liberal Burke or Bark or Birch, whatever the hell he is has no business anywhere near the White House if you ask me. If you can promise both of those things, I will heavily CONSIDER, and I say this with no certainty in mind, I will CONSIDER pushing votes and money your way come primary time."

Anderson: "I don’t know the General personally. And as much as I’d appreciate your endorsement I cant agree to put him on the ticket unless I know we can work together. Ideologically, and in terms of experience I’d want him on the ticket. I can promise you it would be a conservative on the ticket and a majority of the cabinet. Should the General and I get along personally, and should he actually want the job he is the first choice."

Betty-Anne: "Mr. Anderson, I will think about it. I promise that I'll let you know when I feel more comfortable making a certain endorsement, regardless of who gets it. I just need to talk to more people and see what's best for my campaign at the same time. I believe I will be getting some endorsements soon as well. Is there anything else you wanted to discuss?"

Anderson: "No, I’ll let you get back to it… I’ll have my people give you a number you can reach me at if you need something or have questions."

Betty-Anne: "That would be marvelous, it was a pleasure meeting with you."

Sen. Bill Burke

Image
Sen. Bill Burke and his wife were on their way back to their Tampa Bay home. As the couple got onto their train, Bill would start writing his statement. When in his beloved hometown, he would be doing several campaign events in preparation for the midterms. First, he was speaking at a shipping yard to the unwashed masses local dockworkers in support of workers. Then, he'd tidy himself up to go to an 8:40 to 10 military gala where he'd argue for ending the Vietnam war. The following day, he'd join a local march for women's rights before giving a speech in front of Tampa Bay City Hall.

As he finished reviewing his schedule and landed at 10:40 on Friday, he was already heavily exhausted. He and his wife rushed into their homes took showers, and collapsed onto the bed. As they woke up at 6, Bill noticed he was already almost late for the dock interview. He scrambled on a suit and tie. He combed his hair and jumped in his car. At 7:10, 5 minutes late, he stood on an elevated podium in front of a ship and spoke.

"My constituents, my neighbors, and my fellow Americans." he started as the microphone started up. "I am so glad and honored to be speaking to you all on this fine day. I would like to begin by thanking all of you for the honor of representing my home in Washington DC and the nation. This opportunity has me awe-inspired.
"I would also like to thank all of you for being here. Being informed is a crucial step in American democracy and is necessary if we want to defend you, your colleagues, and your jobs.
"Since you voted me into the Senate in 1960, I have dutifully worked towards greater opportunities for the average worker. I vote for bills that protect your jobs while opposing Northern bills that would tariff other nations and force your employers to lay you off. I have worked diligently on doing what is necessary for the continued security of your jobs.
"I will not pretend I am the only Floridian willing and ready to defend you, yet I must ask you to place your faith in me. And if you do, I swear by God Almighty to serve you and only you for the rest of my tenure.
"Thank you, and God Bless Tampa Bay, God Bless America, and God Bless all of you fine folks."

After he completed his speech, did a meet and greet, and most importantly collected donations, the General returned to his home. He mostly answered letters and wrote the next day's speeches. Once he had eaten the pork belly pie his wife cooked, he put on his uniform and Purple Heart and walked back to his car. He drove down the empty streets until he got to a local reception hall. He showed a guard his invitation and walked into the venue.

He began chatting up some of the more affluent guests as ourderves were served. The Senator received promises of large donations and even saw a local shipping tycoon, who he arranged a meeting with. Dinner was served, though Burke simply took an appetizer as he had already eaten. As dinner came to a close, Bill rose and began speaking.

"My constituents and comrades, I thank you for the honor of being here today. I always jump at the chance to be able to speak to my friends and honored masters for I wish to let them know my intentions.
"Ever since I had to dedicate troops to the Battle of the Bulge, all those years ago, I have been a different man. More cautious, more calculating. I lay awake at night sometimes, thinking about the mistakes I made, all the empty chairs at the dinner table that could have been avoided. I... I don't know if I could have done better, and no matter the answer, I know one thing. I, I and you, can make a difference. We can save our children and our grandchildren from the horrors of war.
"President Lauderdale does not wish to do this. He wishes to strap up our boys, America's boys, and send them somewhere they don't belong, send them to a jungle full of disease, death pits, and the ever intrusive presence of the enemy. This is not America's war! This is not a war our men should be dying in! We fight for wars like World War 2, against the very embodiment of evil, tyranny, and hatred. This is not a war like World War 2! This war is an unnecessary bloodbath.
"But does Lauderdale, surrounded by rich butlers in the White House, ignorant of the plight of the soldier in Vietnam care? No! All Lauderdale sees are lines on a map, meaningless lines to him! But we who served in the war, who fought for the true values of America know. We know that each and every one of those lines represented thousands of Americans who will only be shipped home in body bags if even the luxury of retrieval is able. The true peril of war is unknown to Lauderdale. While Americans were fighting, whether from home or abroad what was Lauderdale doing? He was sitting in a plushy chair in Mongolia county!
"My fellow Americans, if we wish to save our men, our fighting boys plucked from their homes by the uncaring Democrats in DC then we must start by getting them out of office. I don't know yet who I'll endorse in '68, but I know with God as a witness whoever I do won't, and I say won't support the death of young Americans in the jungles of Asia!
"God bless Tampa Bay, God bless the soldiers, and God bless the USA!"

Image

Par for the course in the life of a Senator, Bill collected the rest of the donations and finished the dinner. As he was saying goodbye to the final donors, Bill was once again readily exhausted. He slouched back in his car and wearily drove home. Once again, he collapsed into bed, this time without even a change of clothes. As he woke up once more, he hastily got undressed and entered the shower before putting on his suit. He wore his most conformable shoes, well, as comfortable as a politician's shoes can be, and walked to the source of chants.

"Burke's With Us!" one protestor said "Equal rights!" another chanted.

As he walked, he was barraged by cameras looking for the photo-perfect moment. The bright lights flashed, but eventually, all the outlets got their shots and left him alone. He rose a sign that a protestor was giving out "Girls Are Powerful!" it displayed. As he walked the 19 blocks, representative of the 19th Amendment, he saw the podium. He walked up to the cheers and clapping of the crowd.

"Hellow, my fellow Americans.
I am your Senator, Bill Burke of Florida. I thank deeply the organizers of the protest for the opportunity to speak with you fine women and men fighting for the cause of complete and full equality between the genders in this decade.
As a friend, as a politician, and as a protestor, I will forever say that I stand with you! I have served dutifully as the representative for men and women alike! In the Senate, I immediately vote for any bill that will aid the cause of women in Florida, in the United States, and everywhere. I am your ally!
"I can not say I have much experience to talk about regarding your very valid concerns and troubles as I do in so many of my speeches, but nonetheless I stand with you 100%. I know what is right, and the morally correct thing is equal rights.
"I can't really say much, so I will give the stage over to an organizer but know; know I am with you every single step of the way!
"God bless America, and God bless the equal rights movement!"

After filing some paperwork with her campaign, Betty-Anne Lindquist created and published the first issue of her pamphlet, it targeted right-wing organizations along with religious, southern, and even moderate groups, along with conservative politicians and housewives. She makes a point to send this to her entire mailing list which is about 15,000 nationwide, but will surely grow.

By: Betty-Anne Lindquist

Welcome to the Nations Newest and Keenest Watchdog for Americans

"Hello, I am Betty-Anne Lindquist. Candidate for the United States Senate Seat in the Buckeye State, Ohio. If you are receiving this pamphlet, we either agree with each other politically, or I think you might find some information important. Here's what the Greater American Watchdog Women and I have discovered recently."
Image

Image

"Senator Simpson of Massachusetts. He is a disgrace to his party, and he is a disgrace to the country. He is just the last in a whole new line of Libbers coming out in support of murdering babies mercilessly, smoking weed, and selling it to our pre-teens in High School. Meanwhile, he and his camp prop up reporters in 'Jap' Jackson's Town Hall, accusing the General of supporting prostitution. Yet, there are rumors around Washington, that Senator Simpson's platform includes support for homosexuals. Watch Out for Senator Simpson! He is corrupting the children of this world with his extravagant ideas about 'patriotism', calling a prominent war hero a danger to democracy, and supporting pedophiles roaming the streets molesting our boys. He speaks for a majority of his party. Just look at the publicity stunt done by Senator Ronald Truman. It was a staged effort in getting Simpson to join the campaign of the top candidate and socialist Yakobsky, in an effort to undermine our capitalist society."

Image

"Next up on the cutting board is Senator Bill Burke. He is the cousin of current presidential candidate Armstrong Burke. Boy, oh boy! He is up for reelection this year, and Florida need's to vote him out! He is a member of the NECP, North Eastern Communist Party, he is likely a Fritzinger supporter who abandoned the party in 1964. Need further proof? "My...comrades" - quoted from Mr. Bill Burke in a recent speech in which he further criticized the war in Vietnam. Our boys in Vietnam are fighting a just cause. A cause to protect our children, and our families, from the shackles of communists like Mr. Bill Burke. He speaks with disrespect to our lost soldiers, our lost boys. True patriots would not want them to have died in vain. Mind you, after he said ALL of that, he continued to collect money from top-dollar donors, and I forgot to mention, that he says that Lauderdale is surrounded by butlers. While it may be true, Senator Bill Burke also collects money from people just like Lauderdale in that regard. He then went on to a Women's Rights Protest. I think that I, as a woman, along with my friends here in the group, are free. We have rights, we have equality. Americans don't need to be protesting for the rights of women to kill their babies, or in support of lesbianism. I have the same rights as any man, and I don't need a man like Bill Burke to say otherwise. He said himself that he doesn't quote, "have much experience to talk about" so why doesn't he just shut up and leave the current rights of housewives, mothers, and women alone.

Thank you, it has been a privilege bringing the latest news in politics today. As 'The Greater American Watchdog Women', we are out on the prowl to catch the politicians of our nation in compromising situations to inform the public of the truth! Keep an eye out for more of the Greater American Watchdog Women's Watchlist of Politicians which features: Senator Abraham Simpson and Senator Bill Burke in this issue. The Greater American Watchdog Women never sleep!

And so it began!

Senators Statement on Betty Linquist

Image
Betty Luinquist is an Ohio Senator hopeful up for election as so many are this year, and to any Ohioans reading this, it is crucial your vote gos somewhere else.

Betty Lindquist recently published the first issue of the so-called 'Watchdog Women' Pamphlet, in which she contorted my and the words and statements as well as that of, in her mind, the whole of the Republican party. Yet she shows here intentional ignorance and fails to provide context any reasonable or accurate publisher would give.

I shall not even discuss her accusations against Senator Smith, for it is not my place to, but I will defend myself. She starts off by saying I am a cousin of Armstrong Burke; which yes, is true, though I must state we now only contact each other as often as two senators do. She then labels me a communist- an accusation she should throw around with actual evidence, of which she has none. She labels me this vilest term on account of me saying, comrade.

Now, you all know that the Soviets use the term, Comrade. Yet, they stole that term. From where you ask? From militaries across the world. Initially, the term Comrade simply meant 'a companion who shares one's activities or is a fellow member of an organization.' Now, if you go to your dictionary, or were a soldier in the US Army, you will also be familiar with this definition, 'a fellow soldier or member of the armed services.'

Now, why you ask did she not know this? Because she's not a member of the Military or cares to learn about the Military, or even knows anything about the military. I understand greatly that, as a woman, she is not able to enlist in the Armed Forces. While I may say she could have served as a Field Nurse, or worked in logistics, I will not, for that is pedantic. More importantly, is that she doesn't know.

Betty Linquist has not put 1 day of effort to learn about the US Military. But after all, why would she need to? She's content nonetheless to send our boys to Indochina. She's content to hail war heroes when it's convenient for her. She's content to label me a communist at the mere mention of a term used every day by those who served, or those who cared to learn about the Armed Forces.

Yet I will take this opportunity as well to defend myself against the slanders of others who may call me a Communist sympathizer for my stance in Vietnam. I will say this plainly, in a world without death, I would support intervention in Vietnam until the South wins the war. But we do not live in that world. We live in a world where hundreds come home in body bags every day.

And to those saying the soldiers who fought and died in Germany and Japan would have died in vain, no, they haven't. We won the war, we liberated Germany and France, and freed Britain from the oppression of bombs. We won, and we achieved our goals, and now there is no reason to be done with it. Our boys have fought and died, and for a moment, we should give them a rest. Vietnam poses no threat to us, so why should we die there?

Syracuse, New York
February 19, 1968

"A big, warm welcome to the upstate! Now, as my campaign manager has pointed out, not many people know who I am. That's ok, I don't bite, honest! I'm nothing but a nice, caring ol-er... un-young man that's served his state with pride for almost a full decade now. I will admit that, no, I am not perfect, but I don't think any-one in this room can say that with certainty. I make mistakes in my life. I did not have any help from shadowy figures to my left or right, I earned everything in my life to my own keen intellect and deep drive to do such matters. I had no favors owed nor did any favors on-behalf of any-one. To point to evidence in the contrary is to besmirch my good, good character and ought to be liable for slander and libel, in my humble opinion. I am a proud graduate of the YMCA, and would encourage other such graduates to show their school pride whenever they can! It's good for the school and it's good for this nation, what they do for the pinks and the reds and the blues.

Following my graduation, my personal hobby is fire-arms. I may haven't served a day of my life in any sort of uniform, nor has my father, bless his soul, but that didn't mean I couldn' have an interest in guns. We've all got hobbies. My wife has her knittin' clubs and her rendezvous with some guy named "Dear John". I can't for the life of me figure out why she keeps a meetin' with him. Anyways, I opened up my own little gun-store off of Manchestuex avenue. This made me happy, and I was happy to have some customers from the local constable of Springfield himself, Mr. Clancy Wiggum. Clancy was one of my best friends. Hell, we're still good, good neighbors that pray to the same god his-selfs.

To those that might say I haven't enough experience to run for President, I would like to state that I served as Mayor of Springfield twice, had a lengthy stint in the Massachusetts legislature where I spearheaded gun factory tax breaks during my tenure there, and I was the State Auditor of Massachusetts, uncovering a large amount of graft and corruption within the state government. I managed to force the incumbent to resign in disgrace for his dishonest actions to cheat bay-staters of their tax money. I kept the books balanced in my state, and at the end of my tenure the state of Massachusetts had a 5 million dollar surplus.

I took that energy and passion for legislating and fiscal responsibility to Washington DC as Massachusetts's Senator, where I voted in favor of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; the Equal Pay Act; and the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. That's not to say I sat idly by while events transpired legislatively in the Senate. It was under my guidance that the southern filibuster to the Civil Rights Act began to waver, paving the way for equal rights for all men. We're still working on that 'women's rights' thing, but we're getting very close, I am sure of it!

I am also, quite, quite pleased to announce that my office has begun to draft a piece of legislation that will ensure all adult Americans can be granted suffrage. For too long, those men and women who have been drafted or volunteered into the war have not a say as to who is running this war. Why else do you think we have been under this regime of hatred known as Jethro? This is not a partisan problem, so don't you run off from my speech and suddenly start spouting neo-Marxist dribble and nonsense.

However, just because I bash the President is no notion of me being a Republican. Far from it, actually! I am a good, honest friend of the veteran. I hold the man in high regard for all things except his handle on the Vietnamese Police Action that we are currently undergoing. I led the push to de-segregate the Capitol Hill Cafeteria, and although security concerns as a senator prevented me from marching into Washington D.C. proper, I made sure I was making my voice heard in supporting their march on the white house!

Now, I must address something that I have heard. A Republican filled newspaper, taking questions from a republican audience was hell-bent on ambushing me with un-fair traps. The only good use for the Wall Street Journal is to wipe one's nostrils and other unmentionable's. However, I will thank Representative Truman for acknowledging my life-time commitment to equality in thsi nation. I have supported civil rights, even when I was told 'no no no'. You cannot tell this man 'no no no.' You cannot tell any god-fucking, weed-smoking liberal 'no no no.' That is the truth, the whole truth and nothing BUT THE TRUTH!

I end my speech to focus on what that awful, Dixiecrat led paper smeared against my good name and character. They said that I said, and I quote: I am against Jap Jackson, my beef is not with Asia proper, but with Japanese Jackson." Does that sound like something a racist would say? No! I love the Japanese people, I love their food. I simply have a problem with Jap Jackson, that is all. My issue is with the candidate on the Republican side, not the people on the Japanese side. I will have you know that Jap fellas are fighting the good fight against the other race of people...the chinese-er... Vietnamese. Yes, I'm sorry, I mis-spoke in my previous sentence. Yes....

THANK YOU SYRACUSE NEW YORK, GOD BLESS YOUR CITY, YOUR STATE AND-TURN OFF THAT FUCKING RACKET I'M NOT DONE SPEAKING...."

The microphone was disconnected as Simpson walked off the stage, cussing up a storm at whomever had started the band up on playing the 'star spangled banner' before he was fully done with his speech.
As soon as Senator Simpson wrapped up his speech, he had his campaign staff flag down people leaving to pass out small pins that read:
IN YOUR BUTTS YOU KNOW HE'S GOT GUTS
SIMPSON IN '68
A light tap forced the Senator away from mingling with the crowd, trying to avoid making eye-contact with the very band members that were undoubtedly GOP plants, all orchestrating (no pun intend ended) their master plan of out-right ruining his Presidential bid.

Simpson's eyes soon caught the attention of his second in command (apart from Wells), which was Niles M-Fletcher. The M-Fletcher was simply a mistake on his birth-cirtificate, as his grandmother had changed her last-name mid sentence while at the clerk's office in Maine, resulting in M-Fletcher, with the M supposed to stand for "Mitchells".

"M-Fletch? M-Fletch, M-Fletch, M-Fletch you make me want to stretch!"

"Ahhh, ol boy.. how many a'those do you got for my name? I don't want to be so spoiled like Wah-Wah-Wellington."

Simpson looked at him and scratched his brain, trying to come up with another quick example, but his cylinders weren't all firing today. He blankly stared at his deputy campaign manager.

After a solid two minutes of uncomfortable eye-contact, Simpson broke the silence.

"M-Fletch, M-Fletch you make me want to stretch, what the hell is it?"

"ol' boy... look, I've just been in contact with the offices in Virginia. You know we've still got to kep some southern support, right?"

Simpson nodded even though M'Fletcher could obviously see he was fully engrossed in picking his nose rather than listening o his deputy.

"Ol' boy... look... Y'all know that there's this fat son of a bitch named Betty."

Simpson's brain fired for a moment as he spoke up.

"Yes... I've heard about her. Ain't she runnin' for Ohio Governor or something like that? I've read about her in the paper, yes... What about her?"

"Well, I got a hold o' this 'ere pamphlet and you best take a look at it Ol'boy..."

M-Fletch pulled out a rather faded and very used pamphlet that's logo was a pair of wings on a black back-ground, complete with a pair of glasses that had... were those women on the frames? No...those were just smudges..

Simpson read the pamphlet, his blood starting to boil. This..organization had the BALLS to call him in 'support of murdering babies, smoking wed and selling it to pre-teens in High School.' just to name a few things.

"S-SUPPORTING WHAT NOW?!!" Simpson exclaimed out loud. He was so mad, he couldn't focus. His entire face was beat red with just pure, unadulterated rage.

"I mean...it's true, but we can't let anyone know that. So just release a statement to the press to get that dumb bitch's attention, then we can really launch a counter attack on her later... hot damn...."

With that, Simpson stormed off, retreating back to help the staff who were now starting to put things away from his event here in upstate New York.

Statement from the Office of United States Senator Abraham S. Simpson of Massachusetts, with respect to the bitch from Ohio's bullshit

I am known as a relatively easy going person. I can take a joke or a jab at my own expense. However, what the Betty-Anne-Lingquist campaign has started has rubbed me the wrong way. I take offense to her attacks on my character, but I will admit that some of what she has stated in this pamphlet is 100% true.

I am a U.S. Senator from Massachusetts.

That is it.

Do not buy the lies of Betty, my good friends. Do not purchase from her "Shop of Bigots and Liars." People who do such actions will be burning in hell. If you want to remain in heaven, boycott this slander, if you are an Ohioan and you hear this message, I want you to call her office and demand a full explanation for lying to your supporters. I will make it known now and forever that I will back the Democratic nominee to Ohio's senate seat in 1968. I was going to initally do this out of patriotism to the Democratic Party, but now I shall embark on this as a personal vendetta against this bitch from Ohio.

Statement from Sen. A. Burke's Office

Former Congresswoman Betty-Anne Lindquist has attacked my cousin, Senator Bill Burke, and-- by extent-- she has attacked me. My cousin never has been and never will be a communist, a Lauderdale supporter, and he most certainly did not abandon the Republican Party in 1964. We do not support abortion, amnesty, acid, or any of the terrible things that stand against the solid Christian morals that we have both been raised in.

My cousin and I both support the Equal Rights Amendment. Ms. Lindquist wants that to mean that we support murdering the unborn or homosexuality. It doesn't. It means we support equal wages, the right of women to make their own decisions, the right of a woman to own a credit card without seeking permission from a man, and the like. When my cousin said that he 'did not have much experience to talk about,' he was talking about the experiences of women and non-whites in America-- he has just as much political experience as you would expect any member of Congress to have, and more than Ms. Lindquist has ever.

My cousin also, unlike Ms. Lindquist, has military experience-- he left the US Army as a Brigadier General. I mention this because Ms. Lindquist included my cousin's views on Vietnam in her heinous, ungodly, unAmerican pamphlets. We support the containment of communism. We support creating a comprehensive peace treaty between North and South Vietnam to do just that. Thousands of our young men have died there. Thousands more will continue to die if Ms. Lindquist is elevated to the Senate. Ms. Lindquist, for many years now, has shown that she is against advancing the civil rights of her fellow human beings, against saving the lives of our young people, and in favor of being a hypocrite. Ms. Lindquist, who voted against the Civil Rights Act in 1964, is against helping the children of God, for red, yellow, black, and white. we are all equal in God's sight, and we must make sure that we live out the message of God here on Earth.

I hereby endorse Ms. Lindquist's primary opponent, Mr. (So and So), and I wish him the best of luck against one of the most hypocritical politicians to come out of Ohio since Warren G. Harding.

He has so far insulted war veterans, attacked in an unbecoming manner General Jackson, called for legalization of cannabis ownership, and has attacked the Vietnam War policy of the Lauderdale Administration with extremely harsh comments. Care to make a comment?"

"I appreciate your question, I will say that Simpson's behavior is radical but plenty of politicans from democray's past have been radicals attempting to gain the nomination of a party from La Follette to (not-Henry Wallace) and others. It is best to just simply ignore these intrusive voices within the party lest they get delusions of self granduer, Simpson's campign is nothing more than a media spectacle in my opinion.

Next question please

"Sir, there are increasing voices calling for an immediate bombing halt in Vietnam in order to negotiate a withdrawal of American troops. On the other hand, others are accusing the Lauderdale Administration of failing to do enough to achieve victory in Vietnam and beat the Vietcong and the North into submission. What is your personal opinion about the conduct of the war so far?"
