The REPUBLIC is no more! With the end of the Clone Wars, and the collapse of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, EMPEROR PALPATINE has centralized power to create his new GALACTIC EMPIRE. With legions at his disposal and the remaining Jedi being systematically hunted down by his enforcer, the menacing DARTH VADER, the Emperor's will is now law in the Galaxy.

As Imperial power grows, so to does the galaxy's suffering. Planets ravaged, populations annihilated, and slavery reinstated. While the Core and the Midrim prosper, the Outer Rim remains a lawless, wild place, full of criminals, and Separatist warlords.

Under this shroud of DARKNESS, there yet remains sparks of HOPE. There are Jedi that yet live, and democratic partisans for whom the dream of freedom will never die. As the Emperor tightens his grip on key systems, and builds up his new army, it will be up to these brave few to rid the Galaxy of tyranny once and for all...

Introduction

Hello everyone, and welcome to Star Wars: Rise of the Empire, my rebooted attempt to create a large, sandbox style, character driven RP, set in the Star Wars: Legends universe. My name is Jedi, and I will be the OP for this adventure, one that I hope you will join me on.

This RP will be set in a time of great turmoil in Galactic History. The Republic is no more. The Jedi Order has been all but annihilated. The Sith have prevailed, their success embodied by the Galactic Emperor, Sheev Palpatine, whose alter-ego Darth Sidious engineered a multi-stage plan to rewrite the balance of power in both the Force, and the Galaxy. It is now one year exactly since the dissolution of the Republic, and the execution of Order 66. Yes, this RP will start in 18 BBY, on Empire Day. Through this RP, you can play as any kind of character seen in the Star Wars universe, from a Jedi Knight on the run, to an Imperial Officer, to a Hutt Crime Boss or a Mandalorian Bounty hunter. The Galaxy is yours to explore.

This RP will be sandbox style, which entails creativity on the part of the players. In my capacity as OP, I will set the rules of engagement, and define what is allowed, and what is not, but it will be up to the players themselves to create their own stories, interactions, and events. This will allow as many people as possible to join the RP, and ensure that no one is left out of storylines provided they try to engage and be creative. Once we begin, I hope this will evolve into a hands off RP World, where each character can move through their story without guidance from anyone but the player, reacting to unscripted events, and taking the plot as it comes.

So, without further ado, we can move on to the rules.

Rules

1. I am the OP. While we can disagree and debate events or outcomes, final decisions are final.
2. Standard site rules apply. I will not go into detail about Metagaming, Godmodding etc because if if you are accepted into the RP, you are expected to know how these things work by now.
3. High quality writing is a must, no one liners, no egregious spelling or grammatical mistakes. You will be asked for an RP example with your app, and if it is not good enough, then unfortunately you will not be allowed to participate until you can improve your writing skills.
4. Creativity is a must. This may be one of the most interesting period in Galactic History, but its always more fun to be creative. As I mentioned in the Intro, since this is a sandbox RP, you will not be spoonfed plot lines. You must be creative in coming up with your own story arcs, your own objectives, and your own methods.
5. We will largely be drawing on Legends material. Since most problems arise after RotJ between Canon and Legends, this should not be too big of an issue.
6. Be polite and respectful. If you have a disagreement, come to me, or any Co-Op that we end up getting.
7. Be realistic. You cannot be a Jedi Master more powerful than Master Windu, more wise than Master Yoda, with Anakins good looks, Obi-Wans sense of humor, Lukes optimism, and Hans daring. Your character will have flaws, and if they are exploited by another player, through combat or manipulation, then that's how things will go.
8. Have FUN. This RP lets you go wherever you want with your character. So go do it!

The State of the Galaxy in 18 BBY

As this RP starts on Empire Day in 18 BBY, it is worth noting what may have gone on between the events of Revenge of the Sith and the present day. As of the RP's start, the Galactic Empire is still relatively fresh. While its grip on the Core and Mid-rim is fairly stable, it has yet to fully project itself into the Outer Rim. Palpatine has embarked on a program of rapid Imperialization, purging the Government and military of Republican sympathizers and their allies, and redistributing power from the Senate, Courts, and old bureaucracy to himself and his circle of advisors, Moffs, and agents. The Imperial Military is still largely made up of Clones, though, this is starting to change. Likewise, Imperial hardware will be much more similar to the familiar designs we see in the Clone Wars than to the more powerful and intimidating force depicted in the Original Trilogy. Alongside these governmental, and military, reforms Darth Vader and the Inquisitors are hunting down Jedi dissidents and other subversive elements.

In the Outer Rim, Imperial outposts exist, but have little control over their sectors, with widespread criminal enterprises and cartels controlling most of the power. Some separatist hold outs are also extant, but, without the coordination of the Separatist Council, nor the resources of their economic partners like the Trade Federation or Techno Union, they are running on borrowed time.

It is in this increasingly despotic and dark Galaxy that you will build your story. Character options are limitless; you can be an inquisitor hunting down Jedi, or an insurgent fighting the Empire for your home world. You could be a wealthy businessman, or Senator, or a crime boss and gun runner. Whether you fight against the Empire, fight for it, or fight only for yourself, the choice is yours.

The Applications

Before we get to the actual text of the applications, there are a few things to note. Firstly, the more detailed your application, the better. Bios are expected to be a minimum of three paragraphs. Describe how their childhood was, any formative experiences they had, their reaction to the Clone Wars and the fall of the Republic. There is a lot to work with. Likewise, if you are designing an organization, like a Cartel or Resistance cell, you will want to be detailed in its description.

In terms of character filters, there are indeed a few. If you create common archetypal characters, expect them to be vetted strenuously. Two of the most egregious examples of this are brooding Grey Jedi or the ever common Bounty Hunters with stolen lightsabers. These kind of characters have been beaten to death. If you think you have an idea to make a well worn character type better, by all means, make an app, but it is expected that said app is even higher quality than the average one.

Similarly, you may apply as real, canon, characters. Yes, that means you can be someone featured in the Clone Wars, Rebels, or any of the movies. But be warned, if you take on one of these characters, characters like Yoda, Vader, or the Emperor, it is expected that your writing be consistently excellent, your storylines and plot well developed, and your application be of considerable quality. You will also be expected to stay in close contact with the Op or Co-Op, in order to ensure that the plotlines for these characters are not too wild, overpowered, or out of line. These characters would be best served in the hands of more experienced players, so if you are newer, you may want to try your hand with something of your own design first. These Canon characters must be alive during this time period; there will be no resurrections allowed, so that precludes cyborg Mace Windu or cloned Padme.

The final note on the applications; do not build characters that unbalance the RP. Your character might be a wealthy droid designer, with factories on several worlds, but they will not have the ability to go toe-to-toe with the Imperial fleet. Your character may be the Commander of an Imperial Army Corps, but you must be reasonable in the use of your forces. Using resources and skills wisely is more interesting for everyone when they are not overpowering.

With that out of the war, we can take a look at the apps themselves.

All players must submit a detailed Character application, for whomever they are designing. If that character is also the leader of an organization, say a criminal syndicate or political faction, it must also be app'd for using the second outline.

Final Notes

Thank you for reading this OP, I am generally not great a writing them or formatting them, but I hope it has been enough to interest you in putting down an application.

With regard to how this RP will function, there are several options. If we get sufficient interest, I will create a discord channel and we will move the majority of OOC and post development to that arena. Until then, feel free to use this thread or TG me directly with questions.

If you would like to be even more involved than that, you could offer your services as a Co-Op. I may not need one right away, but if all goes well and we have a lot of interest, then I may need the extra help.

The APP
Name: Shaak Ti
Age: ~40 (Presumed to be a slightly older contemporary of Obi Wan.)
Gender: Female
Allegiance paid to: Jedi Order (Defunct), Galactic Republic (Defunct)
Rank: Jedi Master, Jedi High Council Member (Former)
Appearance: Master Ti during the Clone Wars
Personality: Shaak Ti was known as an incredibly compassionate, and understanding Jedi, Ti was known to be an excellent teacher, firm, but fair. She was noted for being one of the quieter, more contemplative Jedi on the High Council, yet also possessed a subtle wit and sense of humour. She was humble, and preferred to speak before acting, relying on negotiation and mediation over force. in battle, Ti was noted as being among the most cunning warrior's the Jedi could field. Due to her introspective nature, she was deeply troubled by the Clone Wars, and despite her active involvement as a Jedi High General, she was wary and uncertain of the impact the War would have on the Order.
Force Sensitive: Yes
Skills/Powers: Shaak Ti was among the most powerful Jedi of her time, being both a full Jedi Master, and a long-term member on the Jedi High Council. A Jedi Consular, Ti was immensely strong in the Force, an utilized a variety of abilities to great effect. Foremost among these was her proclivity for telekinesis, and telepathy. She was likewise a limited practitioner of force healing, tutaminis, the traditional Jedi Mind Trick, as well as a high degree of dedication to force augmentation, which enhanced her physical abilities well beyond normal parameters. Despite being a Consular, Ti was also a highly adept lightsaber combatant, noted for being among the most skilled duelists of her day. She blended the elegant and refined Form II: Makashi style with the elaborate acrobatics and aggressive focus of Form IV: Ataru. This resulted in a unique fighting style that allowed for both extreme speed and finesse, but also great precision. She was noted for being a defensive duelist, relying on counters and evasions, rather than direct confrontations. As a Togruta, Ti also has a form of passive echolocation due to the hollow cavities in her montrals.
Weaponry:A single blue lightsaber powered by a sapphire blue Ilum crystal
Ship: N/A
Biography: Born on the jungle world of Shili circa 59 BBY, Shaak Ti's story was like many other young Jedi initiates. Discovered to be force sensitive by a doctors on her homeworld, Ti was given to a Jedi Seeker and taken to the Temple for training. She spent the early years of her life learning the basic teachings of the Order under Grand Master Yoda's watchful eye, before becoming the permanent Padawan to a Jedi Master. As a girl, she was allowed to return to Shili to hunt the Akul, a traditional Togrtua right of passage. Sometime before the Naboo Crisis, Ti was successful in taking the Jedi trials, focusing on the path of a Jedi Consular. As a Jedi Knight, Ti taught two students in an unorthodox manner. Rather than teach at the Temple and undertake assignment from the Jedi Council, Ti and her students spent most of their time on Shili, training in the jungles and grasslands of her home planet. Despite both of her students passing the Jedi trials, they were likewise both killed shortly after their graduation in confrontation with criminal cartels. This seeming indictment of Ti's teaching style resulted in her refusal to take a third student.

Despite the deaths of her students, Ti was a well regarded Jedi Master, and in 25 BBY, upon the death of Master Yaddle on Mawan, she was appointed to her seat as a life time member of the Jedi High Council. Ti was widely considered to be one of the quieter, more reflective members of the body, and rarely spoke before long periods of contemplation. She had excellent relations with the Senate and Chancellor's office, and was often used along side fellow Councillor Coleman Trebor as a spokeswoman for the Order. In 23 BBY, Ti and Trebor saved Chancellor Palpatine from assassination, for which she was praised.

As the Separatist Crisis deepened, Ti was unsettled by the continual politicization of the Jedi Order, and spent much of her time contemplating these concerns in the Archives, where she hoped to find comparative events in Galactic History. When the crisis came to a head with the arrest of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker on Geonosis, Ti was part of the Jedi Strike Team sent to their aid, and was among one of the few survivors of the Battle in the Petranaki Arena, a testament to her prowess in lightsaber combat. After the Battle, she was one of ten Jedi created High Generals, and served with distinction in several arenas. When it was proposed than Anakin Skywalker be knighted early due to the constraints of the War, Ti, along with Oppos Rancisis, and Even Piell, voiced her opposition.

Early in the war, Ti was part of the force sent to the foundry world of Hypori, and was among the first Jedi to encounter General Grievous. After a marathon battle, and a subsequent duel, Ti was gravely injured by the cyborg, and, alongside Aayla Secura and Ki-Adi Mundi, was among the only survivors of the battle. She would later go onto be instrumental in the Republic victories on Dagu, where she slew Dooku's acolyte Artel Darc, and Brentaal IV.

As a General, Ti spent most of the war overseeing the defence of Kamino, and the vital cloning facilities there. She was noted as an excellent teacher and role model for the clone troopers under her command, and she forged a special bond with many of them due to her belief that each was a valuable individual, rather than an expendable copy. She led the defense of Kamino alongside Generals Kenobi and Skywalker when the planet was attacked by General Grievous and Asajj Ventress, as well as during the several incursions that the CIS attempted to make over the course of the war. When the Clone Trooper Tup was brought to Kamino after his murder of Jedi Master Tiplar, Ti led the investigation into the incident, nearly uncovering the true intention of the Clone's inhibitor chips, and the conspiracy set in motion by Darth Sidious. Only skillful manipulation of Sidious' part and the death of both Tup and Clone Trooper Fives, prevented Ti from uncovering the plot. After concluding this investigation on Coruscant, Ti remained in the Capital for the remainder of the War.

In the waning days of the Clone Wars, Shaak Ti was instrumental in the hunt for the mysterious Darth Sidious. Alongside Mace Windu, Ti hunted Sidious to a secret lair in The Works, and followed the trail to the basement of 500 Republica, which was then home to some of the most influential citizens in the Republic. This seemingly confirmed what Count Dooku had told Obi-Wan Kenobi on Geononisis three years before. Before further investigation could be undertaken, General Grievous assault Coruscant, and Ti was assigned to protect Chancellor Palpatine. Alongside Master Windu, Kit Fisto, Stass Allie, and several other Jedi, Ti escorted the Chancellor from his apartments in 500 Republica to the Chancellor's Bunker. With Windu and Fisto departing to seek General Grievous, Ti and Allie remained to protect Palpatine. When Grievous' forces struck the bunker, Allie was incapacitated, and Ti engaged in a marathon duel against a veritable horde of IG-100 Magnaguards. Having dealt with this distraction, Ti valiantly chased Grievous into the bunker, only to find him standing victorious over several dead Jedi and the clones left to protect the Chancellor. An exhausted Ti was disarmed, and left trussed to the ceiling.

After the Battle of Coruscant, Ti spent several days in the care of the Temple's healers. While she recovered physically, she was continually plagued by a sense of unease, and took to meditating for long periods of time. When Mace Windu left with several Masters to remove Palpatine from Office, Ti was placed in charge of the defense of the Jedi Temple. She confronted Anakin as he attempted to leave the Temple, and sensed the deep conflict in him. After putting the Temple on alert and mustering its defenses, Ti went into a deep meditation, and felt the great disturbance in the force caused by the death of Mace Windu. When Anakin returned with the 501st Legion and assaulted the Jedi Temple, Ti led the resistance, rallying Jedi and Temple security alike. Despite a valiant effort, Ti soon realized that they were in a hopeless situation, and organized an exodus of as many Padawans and Knights as she could. While she did this, Ti engaged Anakin Skywalker in a short duel within the Temple, but, realizing she was outmatched, was forced to flee. After ensuring the safety of as many other Jedi as possible, Ti too escaped the burning Temple.

In the year that has followed since Operation: Knightfall and the dissolution of the Galactic Republic, Ti as eked out a living in the Underworld of Coruscant. As one of the most sought after opponents of the Emperor and his new lackey Vader, Ti has not yet dared to try and leave the Capital, even as she spends her days and nights mere seconds ahead of the ISB agents tasked with hunting her down.

The APP
Name: Evis Sinatra, Lady Misery
Age: 31
Gender: Female
Allegiance paid to: The Sith, Galactic Empire
Rank: Grand Confessor
Appearance: Lady Misery
Personality: Among the most infamous of the Emperor's servants, Lady Misery earns he name. She is a cool, calculating, and utterly merciless woman, who hides her monstrous and sadistic nature behind a veil of courtesy. She speaks softly and calmly, never daring to shoe emotion, unlike many of her rage fuelled compatriots in the Inquisitorious. As Palpatine's Grand Confessor, Lady Misery is also highly imaginative - utilizing the power of the Dark Side in creative and unique ways to bring forth the truth from her subjects.
Force Sensitive: Y
Skills/Powers: Primarily a Dark Side sorceress, Lady Misery has focused intensely on the deeper secrets of the Force. This has included mastering many abilities, including a remarkable skill at Sith Lightning and Telepathy, her two most common tools during interrogation. Likewise, she has an affinity for more obscure abilities, including Malacia, Psychometry, and Morichro. Lady Misery is also being guided by Palpatine in an exploration of the finer points of Sith Alchemy.

Due to her prodigious Force abilities, Lady Misery rarely uses her lightsaber. When she does, it is almost entirely used defensively, fending off attacks before leveraging her Force abilities to counter her foes. Due to this relaxed focus on bladework, she is primarily a practitioner of Form VI: Niman, which allows her to chain powerful force attacks in her lightsaber sequences.
Weaponry: A standard issue Inquisitor lightsaber with a synthetic red crystal.
Ship: N/A - Lady Misery utilizes whatever Imperial Ship she requires when travelling.
Biography: Not much is know about Evis Sinatra prior to her appearance at the Emperor's side in the aftermath of the Clone Wars. Hooded and cloaked, the Nautolan is one of the few non-humans that Palpatine suffers in his presence, and she has thus become an object of interest among the social climbers of the capital.

Born on Coruscant, Evis was the daughter of two immigrants from Glee Anselm. These parents eked out a living as custodians at 500 Republica, the premier residential building for the Republic's elite. As a young girl Evis assisted her parents in this work and neglected her schooling, instead spending time folding linens and operating 500 Republica's various trash compactors.

When Evis was 12, her father was killed by a Jutta Chevalteesh, a Senator known for her penchant for drunk speeder racing through the Coruscanti skyline. When Jutta's high station led her to be exonerated, Evis' mother was fired from her menial role and cast aside. She soon died herself during a mugging in the Underworld. At just 12, Evis Sinatra was an orphan, filled with rage and hatred for the elite that had used and abused her family. And she plotted her revenge.

Using her knowledge of 500 Republica's lower levels, Evis snuck into the building, making her way through the ventilation system. She lived in these tunnels for weeks, observing the comings and goings of Jutta Chevalteesh. One quiet night, Evis slipped from her perch within the wall while the Senator worked, and alit her throat.

As her foe bled out on the floor, Evis was horried to hear the door behind her slide open, revealing a handful of individuals who had quiet clearly come to meet with the woman's whose blood now pooled, deep red and crimson. To Evis shock, the leader of the group, a short, balding man with a kind face, did not call for guards or attempt to rouse the fallen Senator. He simply reached out a hand and the frightened Nautolan girl took it..

History loses track of Evis Sinatra at this point - her first days in the service of Senator Palpatine of Naboo. A Sith Lord, unbeknownst go all, Palpatine had approved of the young girls ruthlessness and was delighted to find that she was a powerful force sensitive. Hidden away at Palpatine's lair in The Works, Evis spent the next nearly two decades learning and studying the ways of the Force, especially how to inflict pain and draw information.

Despite having no change in station when Palpatine became Chancellor, Evis Sinatra was swiftly announced to be the Grand Confessor when Palpatine dissolved the Republic and it's bureaucracy. Mysterious and unknown to the populace of the capital, and now charged with operating the Imperial Prison Industrisl Complex and "Information Retrieval Services Branch," of Imperial Intelligence. With none knowing her true name, and with her dark reputation swiftly growing after her appointment as the Emperor's chief torturer, the Grand Confessor swiftly became known by another name - Lady Misery.

With the first anniversary of the Empire's proclamation close at hand, Lady Misery is now on heightened alert for treason, and for Jedi. She has been given specific instructions to discover the location of former Jedi Council Members,
RP Example: N/A
Notes: Grand Confessor is essentially a form of Inquisitor that is specialized for interrogation and torture.

Name: Imperial Main Security Office, Department II (Corruption), Section IV (Civilian)
Type: Governmental department
Objective: The eradication of all forms of crime (mostly treason and affiliated corruption) from the various remaining forms of civilian planetary government and other important organisations.
Headquarters: Imperial Main Security Office, Coruscant
Resources: Mostly pencil-pushers, but the Section often requisitions army and navy assets for implementing its directive.
History: The IMSO, a predecessor to both the Imperial Security Bureau and Imperial Intelligence, was formed from the various remnants of Republic intelligence. The Republic intelligence apparatus had been sparse and secretive, but grown immensely during the final years of the Clone Wars. These varying agencies were, after the transformation into the Empire, 'rationalised' into a single agency to allow for easier sharing of information and a more formidable enforcement apparatus. Department II, corruption, is one of the flagship undertakings of this agency, and outwardly exists as part of Palpatine's promise to rid the galaxy of government corruption. In actuality, however, the kinds of corruption the department is allowed to investigate is quite limited, and usually only deals with the new crime of 'High treason', or treason aimed at the person of the Emperor. The main task of the Corruption department, therefore, is the eradication of any contacts between civilian organisations, such as planetary governments and coroporations, and possible rebel elements. Cases of corruption that benefit the Emperor are deprioritised.

The APP
Name: Kendo Havar
Age: 42
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: The First Galactic Empire
Rank: Deputy Section Chief (Commander equivalent rank)
Appearance:
https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/starw ... 1028184728
Personality: Kendo loves the Republic. Kendo loves the freedom, liberty and democracy the Republic represents. Kendo also, parasocially, loves Palpatine, the embodiment of all the virtues of the Republic and its most staunch defender. These two loves, these two beliefs, exist in Kendo's head simultenously. Even through all that has happened. Sure, Palpatine is Emperor now, but that is a good thing, since now he will have all the powers and abilities required to safeguard the Republic and its liberties. Sure, the Republic is now the Empire, but that is only cosmetic, and even then, aren't people more free under the protection of Palpatine than under the protection of their corrupt politicians? Kendo knows everything about corrupt politicians. Much like Naboo, where the elected queen could do more to safeguard democracy than the corrupt bureaucracy. In other words, Kendo has not accepted that the Republic is going down a dark path, because the enormity of it is just too much for him to comprehend.
Force Sensitive: No
Skills: Kendo is experienced at following paper trails. Years of experience in the area of forged documents has given him the eye of an expert, and he can truly think like a corrupt politician. However, since the proclamation of the Empire, that skill has been slipping somewhat, and Kendo is extremely insecure about this. Another one of his skills is his loyalty: he knows his job and he does it well, and he leaves the jobs of others to the relevant people without interfering.
Weaponry: Officer's blaster pistol
Ship: Acclamator class assault ship Veritas
Biography: Kendo Havar was born 41 years Before the Formation of the Empire on Naboo, to a reasonably well-off family. His mother was a lawyer, which meant that a carreer in law lay open for him. He went to Theed university to get his legal degree, and started working for the Royal Prosecution Office. His carreer was propelled forwards after the trade federation invasion of Naboo. While a part of the Prosecution Office stayed in order to aid the occupation government, thus helping fill the concentration camps, Kendo resigned his post and returned to his family's farmstead in the lake district. Eventually he was arrested and himself placed in preventitive detention, but after the succesful retaking of Naboo, he was quickly released. The Royal Prosecution Office was purged of most trade federation collaborators, leaving open a lot of offices that needed to be filled. At 30, Kendo became one of the Royal Prosecutors, with the express duty to help deal with all the fallout of the occupation: who had sold out their neighbours? Who had sold information to the trade federation? Who had given them weapons? In this capacity, Kendo met once or twice with chancellor Palpatine, just to wrap up an investigation or two.

After nearly a decade working as a Royal Prosecutor on nearly every corruption case imaginable, and after queen Amidala stepped down to become a senator, Kendo began to consider his other options. Both his heroes, queen Amidala and chancellor Palpatine, were now engaged in Republic politics. Meanwhile, the galaxy was getting more dangerous. There was still a lot more he could do, not even forty, with a good carreer behind him and still a life ahead. The separatist crisis slowly unfolding inspired him to apply for the Republic Judicial Department and to work for the Court of Justice, with the hope of doing the same good work that he had done on Naboo maintaining the peace. Alas, this was not the case. While prosecution of the Ontothon government ensued, violence erupted on Geonosis, and the Clone Wars began. The creation of the Grand Army of the Republic merged some services together, including placing part of the Judiciary under military command. This, in turn, made Kendo part of the Republic military. It gave him a rank, and he was tasked with prosecuting seperatist allegiances in recently-liberated planets.

This was a stark shift, however, unlike what he expected. He expected it to be just like liberated Naboo, but he soon found out that it was quite the opposite. Often, planets were liberated from their own governments by a Republic occupation force. The local population had separatist allegiances, and prosecuting every act of collaboration with the seperatists became an unwinnable venture. Therefore, the Judiciary had to focus on the worst instances, where they could get the resources to prosecute, and thsoe resources were entirely in the hands of GAR high command, and by extention, in the hands of Palpatine. Slowly but surely, the independent Judiciary became financially reliant on the Supreme Chancellor, thereby losing the independence they had once enjoyed and that was so vital to their functioning. This is why the prosecution of Poggle the Lesser eventually failed and allowed him to escape instead of facing justice. This is why the Hutts were mainly left alone.

After the end of the war and the formation of the empire, Kendo hoped for a return to some form of normalcy. Of course, he knew the true work of the war would still have to be done, but that would be under normal circumstances: an independent judiciary, and the hopes of returning to liberty and democracy. However, Palpatine and the Imperial Navy never let go of the Judiciary. Instead, their grip tightened. Now, the former Judiciary is even more restrained, and unable to prosecute corruption in Palpatine's allies. Instead, they are kept busy by the Outer Rim and other separatist worlds, where there is little to be gained and where the Imperial Navy remains in control. Slowly, it is becoming clearer that the Republic is not coming back, neither in name nor in contents.

And Kendo Havar does not know what to do with that.
RP Example: I am an RP example.

I had an old app for a Jedi, he had a ship and a crew, I'll repurpose it for this soon.
Vaguely a pessimist, certainly an absurdist, unironically an antinatalist.

Great Confederacy of Commonwealth States wrote:Name: Imperial Main Security Office, Department II (Corruption), Section IV (Civilian)

You know, whenever I see a character-based RP set in a universe where evil has triumphed - whether that be Voldemort in Harry Potter, the Empire in Star Wars, the Ethereals in XCOM, or what have you - my mind always without fail jumps to two things. The first thing is some old election, and the second thing is some fictional character.

Expect an application that is some mixture of those two things. :p

The APP
Name: Name: RC 1717 "Cross", goes by Caos Ingvan
Age: 14(Accelerated Aging)
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: Independent
Rank: Former clone commando
Appearance: Caos, Armor

Personality: 1717 or Cross can be described as a loyal, collected soldier before Order 66. Which he shared a close bond with his pod-brothers(squadmates) since they trained together as a squad from the beginning. A bond that was tested when Order 66 went down and after being the sole survivor of his squad. 1717 became disillusioned and depressed from the experience. Sometimes turning to drinking to deal with it and only focused on surviving the New Order. Still, after hearing news of rebels against the empire, 1717 has started to reconsider his role in life and might choose to believe in a cause willingly this time.
Force Sensitive: N
Skills/Powers: Trained to be a Clone Commando, Cross had several skills such as Marksmanship, CQC, Infiltration, and Stealth. Along with other standard clone commando skills. However, he specialized in Slicing and Technology.
Weaponry: DC-17m with sniper and PEP laser (stun) attachments, DC-15s sidearm blaster, vibro-knife, 4 thermal detonators, 3 flash-bang grenades, 3 stun grenades, and whipcord thrower
Ship: Tri-Mark VII Interceptor
Biography: 1717 was one of many clones grown and trained on Kamino and made for the Grand Army of the Republic. Though instead of being trained as a standard trooper, 1717 was selected to be trained as a clone commando. Being assigned to Echo Squad and would forge a strong bond with his squadmates would he would refer to as brothers. Going through at times, brutal training and developed a knack for data slicing. Thus, he was trained to be Echo squad's slicing and technology expert.

His first mission was the First Battle of Geonosis, where his squad was assigned to sabotage a droid foundry that was pumping out droids for the surface battle. After fighting through fierce resistance, Echo squad was able to set charges and blow up the foundry. Then shortly being assigned to other targets during the battle. They were one of the few squads that survived intact during the battle. Throughout the war, 1717 and his squad went on several missions for the Republic. The one that he remembers the most was when Echo Squad worked with a Falleen Jedi Master named Girri Bran and her human apprentice Chaeli Malgoo. Bran was in charge of a task force to take Ossus from the Separatists and was one of the first battles of the Outer Rim Sieges. 1717's squad's mission was to sabotage a series of planetary cannons that defend the planet before the invasion began. Deploying stealthy to the world and managed to succeed in their task without incident. Later aiding Bran's forces and even serving alongside her until the planet was under Republic control. 1717 would greatly respect the Jedi during his time when he worked with them.

During the last week of the war, Echo Squad was again assigned to Bran's task force and would fight at the Battle of Tellanroaeg. Which during it, Palpatine ordered Order 66. 1717 and his squad had a mixed response to the order While 1717 and his squadmate RC 1221 did not want to follow the order as their inhibitor chips unexpectedly malfunctioned. Believing the order to be false and did not think that the Jedi were traitors. However, his squad leader RC 1152 and RC 1304, choose to follow the order. When 1152 ordered 1717 and 1221 to follow through and kill the Jedi but, both refused. Which led to 1151 and 1304 point they weapons at the two, and the two responded by pointed their weapons at them. For 1717 things seem to have slowed down. He did not want to kill his brothers, but, when 1152 said, good soldiers follow orders, he fired, and 1717 regretfully fired back. The firefight lasted only seconds, and when it was over. Only 1717 and 1221 stood standing, though both were wounded. Despite their injuries, the two tried their best to save their Jedi commanders. Reaching them as they were running their former troopers. After convincing the Jedi they were no threat. They tried to make their way to the nearest starport to steal a starship but were ambushed along the way. 1717 could only watch as he saw the Jedi get cut down, and 1221 ordered him to escape. 1717 refused at first but, 1221 told him that only one of them can escape and if not, then they would both die. That and 1221 were more wounded than 1717, who had a chance to make it. Regretfully, 1717 choose to listen to 1221 and run as fast as he could to the starport. Stealing a Tri-Mark VII Interceptor and got out of the system the fastest he could.

Once out of harm's way, 1717 had time to think. He was saddened over the deaths of his squad and of the Jedi. Feeling that he could have done more but, at the end of it. He was forced to kill his brothers and failed to save Master Bran and her apprentice. Thinking that the now christened Empire would be after him for disobeying Order 66. 1717 sold his armor to purchase a new one and always wore his helmet when outside of his ship or around others. Along with letting his hair grow out and taking up a name for himself. Which he took some odd jobs and later bounty hunting to survive. After a year of this, 1717 now, Caos Ingvan started to have second thoughts about just surviving. Still feeling sad over the events a year before and when hearing about some resistance groups that had formed against the Empire. He started to think about things, that perhaps instead of surviving and take the fight to the Empire. Something that he thought would be impossible on his own. So while he continues to be a bounty hunter, Caos might take up a cause that he actually believes in willingly this time and fight once again.

RP Example: Somewhere in the Dark
Notes: Caos is still adjusting to working on his own and misses being in a squad.

Name: Cal Droma
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Allegiance paid to: His crew and those he chooses to aid.
Rank: Formerly Jedi Knight
Appearance:
His face and usual outfit.
Image
His armor for when things need to get serious
Image

Rank: Formerly a Knight
Personality: A quiet man at heart, Cal has become something of a pessimist in response to the more orthodox members of the Jedi order peering down their noses at his choices. He feels a strong connection to his crew and those who need his help, but his time as a Commando Company CO well away from the influences of his more pacifist cohorts in the Order has given him a cold streak when it comes to the lives of those who stand between him and his goals.
Force Sensitive: Y
Skills/Powers:
  • Telekinesis
  • Mind Trick
  • Force Speed
  • Lightsaber Form 1 & 3
  • Marksmenship
  • Echani Martial Arts
  • Military Special Operations
Weaponry:
  • Lightsaber: Built for function over form, it was made to be easily repairable in the field. It has a yellow blade.
  • Cal's pistol: A heavy blaster and the weapon Cal most commonly wears on his hip.
  • A-280: Rarely sees use, only brought out when things go very badly.
  • Vibroblade: For close in work.
Ship: The Pioneer: An aging YT-1300 modified by Rhysio himself and passed on to Cal when he set out on his own as a Knight.
Biography: Memory is a strange thing. A lot of people can recall their first memory with only a hazy sort of recollection, maybe the face of their mother or their childhood pet. Cal's first memory is more of a sensation paired to a single remembered moment: heat and fire. He grew up with his family on a little farmstead on the planet Homea. A smaller planet with a robust hydrosphere and fertile soil. If it had been closer to the core and larger and if it wasn't in the galactic east (V10) far from any trade routes, it would have been a breadbasket world. As far as it was from, well, anything really, it was a happy place to live. You could throw a seed on the ground and it would sprout with little work, your neighbors were friendly even though there was space to go around, and it was a temperate place year around. Paradise. But nothing can last, and when a pirate gang finally stumbled across the little planet with its friendly people and no militia, they took advantage. Business had been hard for them and they needed a product that would be a for sure thing, a big profit boost to get them back in the game, and slaves would be just that. With Hutt space just a short jump to the west, they could take as many slaves as their hold could carry and sell them for some operational funds. The sack was fast, they took as many families as they could cram into their frigate's hold and killed anyone who resisted.

When they got to Cal's farm, his father fought back, he had been a mercenary once a long time ago and wasn't going to let anyone touch his family. When the pirates landed, they had set down in a small clearing outside of the main farmstead, and it was there Cal's father went out to meet them. For two hours blaster fire was heard in the distance and in the end, his father's one-man guerilla war had killed many of the pirates on the shuttle before he died, a blaster bolt through the head had ended the fighting. When they arrived at the farmstead, Cal's mother put up a fight, first with an old pistol and then with her bare hands, but eventually, she was shot. Then came Cal. His mother had put him in the basement, wrapped up behind sacks of grain, but the pirates found him, and even as young as he was the baby had to be worth something.

So Cal's life in a crime lord's slave stable began. For a year Cal lived in the servant's quarters of a low-ranking Hutt in a minor cartel. The slug, Ribba, had put him in the care of another slave and nurse, Myla, and she loved him like the son Ribba had taken from her not so long ago. Day and night she doted on him and brought him gifts of food and small toys she made him out of scrap. For a toddler, it might not have been the worst life if Ribba's guards weren't so keen to smack him about when he got noisy. Fate had other plans for Cal however, when one night Ribba's villa was assaulted. The blaster fire and explosions could be heard deep down in the caves where the slaves slept, and as Myla held Cal tightly she prayed to anything that would listen that her ward wouldn't lose his family a second time. Gang warfare was common at the level Ribba was at, and this wasn't the first time someone had attacked the Hutt's home, but from the sounds of the fighting, this time was going quite poorly for the Slug and his Weequay mercenaries.

A Jedi named Rhysio Tillie had broken past the gate with his team intent on finding a stash of four Holocrons that Ribba had purchased from a wealthy smuggler, and they were carving a path through the villa at a breakneck pace. Luckily, the Jedi and his team had to pass by their cells on the way to Ribba's vault, and they freed them on the way out. It was on the trip back to Coruscant that Rhysio discovered Cal's gift, it came to him at first like leaves just brushing his skin, but eventually, he was able to find the source just before they reached the port where they would let off the former slaves. Rhysio talked with Myla for a long time about the boy during the trip to a safe port. Myla was adamant, Cal had been through too much for someone so young, he needed stability in his life, and for what it was worth Rhysio agreed, but Myla had to understand the Cal was special and his life would be far more difficult without proper training. Rhysio was kind, but adamant, it was clear Myla had come to love the boy and he could feel that she was terrified to let him go, but she needed to trust him. She eventually relented. Cal was brought back to the Temple and for the first time in such a long time, he knew peace. For many long years he was able to learn and play with children of his own age, and he flourished under the care of his teachers at the Temple.

When he finally came of age to be taken as a Padawan, Rhysio once again stepped into his life. He had grown quite a bit older, the members of his team had changed since Cal had last met them, not that he could remember any of them to begin with, but Rhysio told Cal he had been keeping up with his training and watching him closely, he was very keen to have Cal as a Padawan. What could Cal Say? He had been told that this man had saved his life along with many others, and for years Rhysio had been a hero to him, Cal held on to every bit of information about Rhysio's exploits he could get his hands on, to apprentice for the old Knight would be a dream come true. His formative years were spent learning not only his Master's craft, but also his ideology. Rhysio was a firm believer that there were some places in the Galaxy where keeping the peace meant allowing injustice to survive because the Jedi in question would rather keep to their orthodox interpretation of the Jedi code rather than affect meaningful change. If a Jedi was going to be a force for good in the Outer Rim, they had to make the peace, and that meant making hard decisions and having to live with them. Rhysio taught Cal not only how to use a lightsaber, but also how to shoot a blaster and the finer points of the Echani style of unarmed combat. Rhysio dedicated himself to teaching Cal how to be self-sufficient: how to fabricate lightsaber parts away from the finer tools a Jedi would typically use, how to survive in the wilderness, how to repair ship subsystems, how to set a broken bone, and how to cut a man's throat without a sound.

When Cal was finally ready to become a Knight, he decided to leave Master Rhysio. The old Jedi understood, he was old and his days of infiltrating slaver hideouts and brawling were far behind him, it was time to pass on the torch to his former apprentice. Rhysio gave Cal the Pioneer, the ship that they had lived on for so long, and bid him farewell.

Cal's first companion has also become his oldest friend, Mrssk. When Cal met Mrssk, the Trando was already getting on in years, at 32 he was nearly middle-aged by Trandoshan standards, and Mrssk had a problem. When Cal found him, the pair were deep in the bowels of a slaver's prison on a backwater deep in the Galactic South. Though Cal was there by choice, deciding to infiltrate the place from within, Mrssk had been captured. Surprisingly, Mrssk could speak common and the two spent several days talking about their predicament. Mrssk, you see, had lost his score. The Trandoshan religion is a complicated thing, even after all these years working with Mrssk, Cal still can't seem to figure it out, but the basic problem was that by being captured while on a hunt for the Bounty Hunters Guild, Mrssk had lost his Jagganath Points, a great shame to him personally and an affront to his God. He needed them back to maintain his place in the Trandoshan afterlife, and he could only do that by defeating the one who had taken the points. That man was the very same whose underlings Cal had allowed to capture him. When the time came for Cal to spring his plan, he took Mrssk with him, the old Trando was tough and could handle himself, and Cal was still new to operating alone, so he filled Mrssk in on the plan. The pair tore through the base, freeing slaves as they went and cutting down anyone in their way until they finally reached the boss himself. But before Cal could take him prisoner, Mrssk tore out the man's throat with his bare claws, and before Cal could demand answers, Mrssk explained his lie of omission. He certainly needed to "defeat" the one who took his points, and that meant killing them. Cal was certainly unhappy until he heard what Mrssk had to say next. Mrssk was old, the time he had left to hunt was limited and if he had to start his score from zero again he would have never been able to make even half the points he had once had. Cal had saved his soul, in effect, and Mrssk had decided to invoke a Ghrakhowsk, or Trandoshan life debt. Wherever Cal would go, Mrssk would follow, Cal had done more for the Trandoshan than he could ever imagine. It also helped that Mrssk was sure Cal could lead him to hunts that he could only have dreamed of, and his score would surely grow.

His next companions were Cham Sara and HZ-77. The pair met Mrssk and Cal when they made a stop on Nar Shaddaa. The Smuggler's Moon was a favorite stop for the Pioneer, on top of being able to change transponder codes and get cheap repairs the planet was also a good place to source new leads on where they might go next. The pair had never tried to ply their trade on Nar Shaddaa, of course, Mrssk had put it best when he said that to try was to "dam a river with a pebble", they typically kept to themselves. It was only when they came back to the Pioneer to find Cham and Z attempting to steal the ship that they finally got involved in local affairs. Mrssk was, understandably, a touch upset with the situation at the time, but Cal was more interested in tossing them out and getting a move on, they had just gotten a lead on an assassin's ring that was going to kill the monarch of a nearby world. But Cham pleaded with them, the pair were going to be killed by a Quarren crime lord and they needed to leave the planet, the only problem was they had no credits. Mrssk, once again, opined that they should throw them off the landing pad and be on their way, but Cal decided he wanted to hear the pair out. Cham explained that the two problems were connected, her friend Z had racked up quite the debt with a loan shark and gangster by the name of Soroca, and if they couldn't pay Z's outstanding debt's (which had considerable interest applied) of 200,000 credits, Soroca would sell Cham into slavery and Z for scrap. During the exchange, Z had said nothing, staring off into the corner of the Pioneers cargo hold, but when Cham had finally finished her story, he decided to speak. He knew either Cal or Mrssk was a Jedi, probably Cal considering everything, and he knew a Jedi wouldn't abandon them to die. He had seen a workbench with parts that to the untrained eye were just bits of metal, but he knew what he was looking at, he had worked alongside the Jedi before and he was looking at Cal's stock of spare emitters, focusing lenses, and more. Pleading, he offered his services as a doctor to the pair, they were clearly the sort who charged headlong into danger and needed a doctor, right? Catching on, Cham told them about her education as a starship engineer, and both of them professed a familiarity with blasters. Mrssk once again counseled Cal to throw them off the landing pad, but Cal could "see" their intentions, and he knew they were telling the truth. Ever since, the pair have had a place on the Pioneer.

The final two members of the Pioneer came one after the other. The first joined when Cal finally came back to the Temple after first leaving Rhysio four years prior. Mrssk and Cham had convinced him to take on a Padawan, and though the process was sure to take a long time, Cal finally relented. When they arrived, the crew and their ship clearly stood apart. The other Jedi ships were pristine, the Jedi were in robes, and their followers looked professional. Cal and his crew looked like smugglers and their ship looked like it hadn't been properly serviced in four years. Which it had not. Convincing anyone to let him meet the initiates looking for a teacher was a difficult process only aided by Rhysio, now a teacher to the younglings, vouching for Cal. The interviews were torturous, with Cal dismissing one after the next as ill-suited to life on the Pioneer. It wasn't until he was practicing unarmed combat with Mrssk in the Temple's Training Ground that someone finally caught his eye. A young teenager, still in the garb of an Initiate, had been watching them closely from the shade of a tree. At first Cal hadn't thought much of it, a half-naked Jedi Knight and Trandoshan grappling was surely a rare sight in the Temple, but the longer she watched, the more Cal had the feeling she was interested in more than just the spectacle. Finally, he called a pause to the training and the pair walked over to her. Before she could run, Cal called out, asking her name. Syana, she told him. She seemed a little old to still be in an Initiates robes, no? No Knight would take her, she told them. As they talked, why that was became clear. She was curious and brash, with a temper and independent spirit that many Knights felt was unbecoming of a Jedi, she had accepted that she was going to the Service Corps, though it wasn't what she wanted. The longer they spoke, the more sure Cal became. Here was an Initiate no one saw the potential of, she was quick-witted and clever, her only issue was that she didn't toe the Orthodox line. If he was honest with himself, Cal saw the person he might have been if Rhysio wasn't the one who saved him. The Masters in charge of the Initiates were confused when Cal made his choice of Padawan, but accepted his choice regardless. Syala was from that day on Cal's Padawan.

The Pioneer found her last crewmate before Cal and Co. left Coruscant. A Mon Calamari pilot had been requesting entry to offer his services since Cal had first arrived, and when he was finally let in to interview for a position as a Jedi's pilot, no Jedi present would hear him out. Most could handle their small ships well enough and those that couldn't, could sense the baggage that the Mon Calamari carried with him. Cal fell into the first camp comfortably, he had grown up on the Pioneer and knew how to pilot it just fine. Cham, however, wasn't on the same page. She had spent most of the day talking to the pilot and before the Pioneer could depart, brought him to Cal's attention. The pair made their best case to him, and Barai was certainly skilled if his claims were to be believed (Cal suspected he was telling the truth, or he was a liar of legendary prowess). By the end Z liked the idea of having a professional pilot, Mrssk appreciated another hand to hold a blaster, and Syala thought he was funny. If it had been a Democracy, Cal was sure to be outvoted. At least, Cal was sure it wasn't a Democracy, his crew seemed to have a different opinion. When Cal told Barai that he appreciated his time but that the Pioneer really didn't need a pilot, his crew let their displeasure be known. Cham said he needed a second chance, Mrssk said he was tired of doing most of the blaster work, Syala said it was the right thing to do, and Z said he was sick of fearing for his life every time they went in for a landing. Cal had to relent, and the Pioneer had her last member.

Notes: Entourage/Retinue:
Cal's Padawan who has been with him for some time. Originally joining him when she was only eleven, she's been his constant companion for eight years. A clever young woman, for years she has learned not just from her master but also the crew of the Pioneer, which has helped her become exceptionally well rounded both in academics and skills. Still technically a Padawan since they haven't returned home in so long, she's eager to cut off her Padawan's braid and join her former master as an equal.
Image
Her lightsaber, built for a wide two-handed grip.
Image

A Trandoshan bounty hunter who has thrown in with Cal. No one is sure why Mrssk joined with the Jedi, and Cal isn't keen on spiling Mrssk's secret, whatever it is. All Cal will say is that it has something to do with the Trandoshian religion. He is the crew's tracker and gunslinger and takes Syala's training just as seriously as Cal.
Image

A former officer with the Republic who went independent. Barai is the Pioneer's pilot and has been working with Cal since he first took Syala as a Padawan. He is well-liked by the crew for his optimism and good cheer. The Pioneer's unofficial chef, and better than you would think for a fishman.
Image

Z to his friends. Z is the Pioneer's doctor and slicer. He's well past the point where he needs a wipe, but the crew refuses to have him maintenanced after realizing they preferred his personality. Has a gambling problem.
Image

A university-educated starship engineer and fan of explosives. Cham is quite close to Syala, taking great interest in her more traditional education. She is the kindest member of the crew, often advocating for the underdog. Particularly close to Cal and also has a pet Loth-Cat.

Hello, I'm thinking about joining this thread and I have a quick question about the organization app. When choosing a Headquarters for your organization do you need to choose a canon planet within the Legends timeline or are we allowed to create our own planets to base ourselves out of? I'd assume the latter with the sandbox nature of this thread but it never hurts to check. Thanks!

Biography:
Donovan "Don" Kren. A farmer from Dantooine nonetheless. One with unrecognized talent and potential. Born in 40 BBY to two farmers, Don lived a very simple early life. While he was force-sensitive, the Jedi found out too late and refused to accept him into their ranks because of his age, so, Don continued to aid on the farm, often taking complex things apart and putting them back together in his spare time to find out how things worked. By the age of fourteen, Don could easily repair a broken speeder bike that would- from an average person's point of view- be unrepairable. He often messed around with the circuitry and engines of speeders and other machines to get as much performance out of them as possible, earning him a reputation as "the tinkerer".

Simple times, however, came to a close upon the outbreak of the Clone Wars. Now eighteen years of age, Don was still working on his family farm when he heard the news. Don decided that he wanted to help, so he tried several times- unsuccessfully- to sign aboard a ship. Finally, he decided to stow away aboard one, and through a combination of luck and pure charm, he found himself a slot as Ship's Engineer aboard the Endevour's Journey- a modified GX1. One fateful day, however, he overheard the crew discussing the prospect of working for the CIS. Raised as a loyalist to the Republic his entire life, it is safe to say he was not pleased with the idea. Instead of attempting to jump ship, Don waited for the opportune moment, before sealing himself alone in the bridge, and forcing the ship into Republic hands. Because of this, Don was awarded the rank of Lieutenant in the Navy of the Galactic Republic, and ownership of the ship. He sent his ship into a storage unit in Coruscant, prior to being assigned to a Venator-class. Don helped partake in many notable battles, including the Second Battle of Geonosis and Battle of Coruscant.

After the Rise of the Empire, Don left the Imperial Navy to find his fortune elsewhere. Don now operates as an independent captain-for-hire, with no true alignment other than to himself. He takes up whatever contracts he believes are within his ability to accomplish and that will benefit him. He runs his ship alone (except for his R3-series Astromech droid R3-G3 "Reggie"), but occasionally takes on crew for bigger contracts- albeit keeping them at a safe distance from much of his ship's important systems.

Putting some thought into it, I think I have a plotline for Cal and Co. They're going to start off hearing a rumor that some of the Jedi council survived and are looking for any Masters left to try and join the Resistance they believe that the Council must be forming.

Sounds interesting.

For context, there are four living Council Members in Legends - Yoda, Kenobi, Ti, and Kcaj. Everyone else has recorded deaths in Legends.

I might be willing to consider Koth as being alive as well.

One proviso - as an untrained Force Sensitive, I would say that at best his abilities are entirely undisciplined. He would not be able to use any telekinesis, save for as an instinctive reaction to, say, extreme danger. Enhance reflexes are fine however.

I'm not sure yet whether to join or not.

On one hand I am currently less involved in RPs than I'd want to be. On the other hand I feel like I am trying to offset it in so many ways that eventually all of those will rebound on me and smash my ability to satisfy all those ways.

I'll have to think about it.

Thank you! I'd say- to the proviso- that he has been self-training for decades, but can hardly move something the weight of a lighter blaster pistol, if this is fine. If not, I'm fine with it, as you are the OP here. I was mainly just going to use it for aesthetic anyways.
