September 5th, 1941,
In 1939 Poland Fell.
In 1940 France Fell.
Unbeatable.
In 1941 the hammer of the Wehrmacht falls on the USSR.

The 20th Infantry Division has known nothing but successful campaigns. Being formed in 1934 in Hamburg you have taken part in the invasion of Poland as a part of Heinz Guderian's XIX Corp. You fought in France in 1940 and there you saw nothing but success, routing the Allies as the offensive through the Ardennes forest commenced. Now you have rolled your way through the Russian country side. You are the veteran of many campaigns now, an experienced solider who can face what is to come. To complete the task's assigned to you. That was until your Division was transferred to to command of Army Group North and the command of von Leeb. While you dont know it yet, you have been ordered to fight in one of the most brutal sieges in history.

In a few days you will begin an assault on the town of Shlisselburg, if you are successful in driving the Russians out of the town land communications with the city of Leningrad will be cut off and the final push to take the city will begin.

German Organization

In this RP you will play as the commander of but a single squad of soldiers within a German infantry platoon. Within the platoons of 1941 there were five ten man squads. A-B squads where mad up of ten men, six rifle men, a commander, a machine gunner and two assistants. The final squad was the platoons command element and would have a 50mm mortar attached. These initial men will have served with you from at least the operations in Poland and France. You will take losses and has the RP progresses replacements will become less and less frequent. To start with every PC will be within the same platoon.

Beyond the platoon is the company, consisting of three platoons and the company command and support elements. For the sake of simplicity we will assume the the company is at its full 201 man strength. If the first platoon is filled up the other platoons within the company will be made available.

Game Rules

This is a mechanics light RP, with the mechanics only serving to enforce the brutality of the war and its effect on your troops. At times I as the OP will make roles that will determine how succesful of how badly you do in a certain operation. All dice roles will be done on a D10. Your squads stats, your writing, understanding or tactics and cooperation with other players will all effect the difficulty of the roll and any modifiers. Most roles will succeed on a 5+, difficult tests will be passed on a +6 and impossible tests on a +7.
Squad Stats: All squads have two stats, there strength and there moral. These both start at a 100 and will fluctuate as events both in and out of combat. Moral is the general spirit of your men, losing battles, taking loses and general misfortune will lower your moral, if your moral goes below 50 your squad must make a break roll at normal difficulty if you succeed the squad will gain back 2d10 moral. If you go below 25 moral you must make a difficult moral test and if you hit zero you must make an impossible test. Squads at 50 strength will only be able to have 60 moral, at 25 strength make moral will be capped at 50. If you hit zero strength you squad is considered wiped out.
Phases: The RP will be broken up into several phases. The Prebattle phase allows players to interact with other players outside of combat. Events can occur in the prebattle phase that have the possibility of effecting the coming battle. The Battle Phase is when the platoon will engage the enemy and attempt to complete the goals of the mission, in the phase the OP will control any OpFor units as well as NPC support. In the post battle phase players will be able to reorganize there squad and debrief with rewards and certain status changes being givens to you squad.
Additional Stats and Effects: As time progresses your character and members of there squad will begin to collect both positive and negative traits. These traits will be giving by the OP. At start you may come up with one positive trait and one negative trait for your commander, these will need to be approved by the OP.
