Military Information: The South Korean military is still the same as IRL, except the ROK Marine Corps was officially made an independent branch through constitutional amendment in 2024. The military currently houses 3,300,000 troops (550,000 active troops and 2,750,000 reserve troops).

Alliances: South Korea has maintained a Mutual Defense Treaty with the US since 1953.

History Changes (Subject to review and approval by OP and Co-OP): Relations between South Korea and Japan has remained sour since the 20th century. Comfort women, the Yasukuni Shrine, the Liancourt Rocks and the raising of the Rising Sun Flag at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. These are the issues that would enable further tensions between both countries. In 2021, the diplomatic fallout came full ahead with the rise of a new nationalist movement in South Korea called Hyeongje (형제), which advocated for full retaliation against the Japanese for their historical and present atrocities against Koreans, as well as both support for Korean reunification and opposition to communism. By 2022, the movement became very popular among both South Koreans and Zainichi Koreans, thus making its opponent, the Juche movement, less popular outside of North Korea.

During the 2021 South Korean presidential election, a new party called the National Republican Party (국민공화당/Gugmingonghwadang) emerged and started to gain support due to its participation in the Hyeongje movement. Its founder and presidential candidate, Cho Dae-jung, promoted Korean reunification, economic stability, Christian values, national unity, Korean-American military cooperation and, most importantly, opposition to "Japanese imperialism". Standing in opposition to the Democratic Party of Korea, the People Power Party, the Justice Party and the People Party, the National Republican Party gains the upper hand due to the ongoing disputes between South Korea and Japan, as well as having reminded South Koreans of Japanese war crimes. The party also proceeded to paint both Japan and its people in a negative light, describing the Japanese as a "barbaric race" and accusing them of cooperating with the North Korean government. Once the election ended, the party won and Cho Dae-jung became President of South Korea. Afterwards, the new government implemented many policies, especially anti-Japanese ones. These policies include banning Japanese entertainment (J-Pop, J-Drama, anime, manga, etc), expelling Japanese people from South Korea, cracking down on the yakuza and restricting imports from Japan. Other policies include stronger cooperation between South Korea and the US, crackdown on anti-American sentiment, promotion of Western values and eventual reunification under Seoul. The anti-Japanese sentiment later escalated when the new government banned South Koreans from visiting Japan, ordered all Japanese companies to leave South Korea for good and nullified the "Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and the Republic of Korea" (한일기본조약/Hanil Gibon Joyak). Later, the government began deporting all the chinilpa, Koreans who collaborated with Japan before and during WW2, to Japan. The government also expanded the term to include any South Korean who is fond of Japanese culture, owns Japanese products and/or has a relationship with a Japanese person. As a result, any form of pro-Japanese sentiment is punishable by either prison, death or outright deportation to Japan. These anti-Japanese policies formed the "Anti-Japanese Civil Act of 2022" (반일민법/Ban-il Minbeob), which the National Republican Party implemented upon coming to power. At the same time, relations soured between North Korea and South Korea after the former began feeling threatened by the Hyeongje movement, which was now in control of the latter. Meanwhile, the NRP is now exerting influence over Mindan, a pro-ROK group based in Japan.

In 2024, many constitutional amendments were made, the most prominent of which saw the position of Prime Minister (국무총리/Gungmuchongni) being replaced with that of Vice President (부통령/Butonglyeong) and the President being allowed to have two terms in office. Other amendments include the National Assembly (국회/Gughoe) becoming bicameral again and the President being allowed to dissolve it. The ROK Marine Corps became an independent branch of the South Korean military, while the Homeland Security Agency (국토안보부/Gugtoanbobu) was formed to deal with both domestic intelligence and national security. These amendments turned South Korea into the "Seventh Republic" (제7공화국/Jechil Gonghwaguk).

The year is now 2025 and President Cho Dae-jung has plans for his people. It is not sure how the future would look like, but the Hyeongje movement promises that "everything will be alright".

Military Information (If different from irl you must indicate that here):
The Russian military for the most part operates and looks how it does IRL, with the projected orders being fulfilled through 2025.

The Russian Armed Forces is divided into the Ground Forces, Navy, and Aerospace Forces as well as the other independent arms, the Strategic Rocket Force, the Airborne Forces, and the Special Operations Forces. The reforms of 2008-2012 and 2014-2022 saw somewhat of a reduction of total military forces, an increase in military spending and on new weapons systems and stockpiles of weapons.

Ground Forces:
The Ground Forces is the largest branch and holds the largest amount of tanks and armoured vehicles in the world. The artillery forces have over 6,574 SPGs with the 2S35 Koalitsiya-SVs entering service to replace older models. The artillery also has 7,100 pieces of towed artillery and 3,420 rocket artillery. The Ground Forces has over 12,450 tanks, with the primary tanks being the T-90, the T-80, and T-72. The T-14 Armata is entering service beginning in 2022, with the first 132 being delivered by 2024, replacing older models of tanks which are placed in storage or sold or given to allies. The Russian Ground Forces also has over 30,000 armoured vehicles, including the T-15, which is beginning to be introduced into the Ground Forces. The Ground Force also operates over 2,000 UAVs. The AK-12 is the newest rifle introduced to the infantry and is replacing the older individual rifles to become the standard for the regular forces.

The Russian Aerospace Forces are divided into two sub-branches: the Russian Air Force and the Russian Space Force. The Air Force operates 782 fighter aircraft, with the newest SU-57, the first 5th generation fighter aircraft for Russia, being introduced and somewhat replacing older models of aircraft. The first regiment of SU-57s are equipped and stationed in the Southern Military District. The SU-34 and 35 are also completed their buildouts and partially have replaced many SU-24s and 25s. The latter still remain in active service, however, but are generally not deployed along the front lines. The Air Force also operates 445 transport aircraft, 740 attack aircraft, 1,543 helicopters, and 544 attack aircraft. The Tu-160 heavy bomber is replacing the Tu-95 on a one-to-one basis. The Aerospace Forces also include UAVs and other support aircraft.

The Russian Navy is certainly not what it was during the Cold War. However, recent modernization efforts have begun to pay off as the Navy begins to shake off the rust. The Navy is comprised of the Northern Fleet, the Pacific Fleet, the Black Sea Fleet, the Baltic Fleet, the Caspian Flotilla, 5th Operational Squadron in Middle East, Naval Aviation, and the Coastal Troops (consisting of the Naval Infantry and the Coastal Missile and Artillery Troops). The Navy has one aircraft carrier, 2 Battlecruisers, 2 cruisers, 10 destroyers, 11 frigates, 82 corvettes, 12 ballistic missile submarines, 10 cruise missile submarines, 14 nuclear attack submarines, 22 diesel attack submarines, 12 special purpose submarines, 21 LSTs, 59 Patrol boats/ships, 49, mine countermeasure vessels, and 40 landing craft, with 18 special-purpose ships. The Navy also has more ships that are inactive and in storage.

In total the Russian Armed Forces has around 1 million active personnel and 2 million reserve personnel. The Armed Forces also hold the largest stockpile of nuclear weapons in the world.

Alliances (If different from IRL): CSTO, EAEU, Syria

History Changes (Subject to review and approval by OP and Co-OP):

Much of the history of the Russian Federation plays out normally. Vladimir Putin becomes President of Russia, succeeding Boris Yeltsin, in 2000. He served as President before becoming Prime Minister under President Medvedev in 2008. During the Medvedev presidency, The 5 Day War broke out due to tensions regarding the breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. However, South Ossetia would later join the Russian Federation as the Oblast of South Ossetia - Alaina in 2022.

The 5 Day War ends with Georgia withdrawing all forces from the disputed territories. However, the end result was a general lackluster show by the Russian military, leading to a massive military reform plan, buoyed by rising oil prices. Russia reforms its air command, ground forces, and invests into rebuilding the Russian Navy.

After just one term, Putin returned to power in 2012 and began a process of locking out opposition movements and establishing “Putinism” as the main form of political thought within Russia. The economic and military reforms continue, with attempts at diversification of the Russian economy beginning in 2012 and 2013. During this period as well, the Eurasian Economic Union was formed creating a single market within the Eurasian states of the former Soviet Union.

In 2014, as a result of the President of Ukraine trying to join the EAEU, the Euromaidan protests began. Resulting in the eventual coup of the government. This results in the Russian-speaking minorities of Ukraine rallying to their own counter protests and counter-coup. Later, the “Little Green Men” begin to appear in Crimea. Russian Special Forces secure the territory of Crimea and hold a referendum leading to the autonomous Republic of Crimea joining the Russian Federation. Alexei Dyumin, the former chief bodyguard to Putin and now head of the Russian Special Forces, is the leader of this operation. He later receives the Hero of the Russian Federation award for his service and is promoted to Lt. General. In 2016, he would later become the governor of the Tula Oblast, just outside Moscow.

The occupation of Crimea and the War in the Donbas, where Russian forces begin to help the separatists in their fight for independence, leads to international backlash and sanctions against the Russian economy. This causes severe reactions within the Russian market and forces the government of Russia to begin to form safety measures to protect the Russian economy, including enforcing measures on food prices and stores, establishing their own Mir payment system to allow them an exit path from SWIFT, as well as closer economic relations with nations in the Middle East, Central Asia, South Asia, and with China.

In 2015, in the middle of the Syrian Civil War, Russian special forces, air forces, and the Wagner Group deploy into Syria to assist in defeating ISIS and the Islamist forces and the Free Syrian Forces, securing the position of Assad in Syria. This results in the 4+1 Coalition with Syria, Iraq, and Iran in combating The Islamic State across the region.

In 2015, in the middle of the conflict rising in Ukraine and international weapons and aid flowing into Ukraine, Putin met with European leaders, including German President Christian Wulff, to attempt to form a lasting peace. This resulted in the Minsk Protocol, with calls for a ceasefire in Donbas, and “Status Quo” in effect for the occupied and unoccupied regions of Ukraine, and for an OSCE observed referendum in Crimea to be held in 2016. It also ends the limitations placed on the German military and prevents foreign powers from funding the Ukrainian military or training or deploying troops on Ukrainian soil. Putin agrees to these terms, and in 2016 the second referendum is held in Crimea, which again results in Crimea formally being welcomed into the Russian Federation a second time. International recognition of this still remains a key issue, both from western powers and from Ukraine itself. During this time, and into the 2020s, the ceasefire was broken several times, some by the LPR and DPR, and others by Ukrainian military forces. This results in Putin condemning the rise of “Far-Right Nazi” groups across Ukraine, particularly the Right Sector, Banderas, Azov Battalion, and others.

In 2023, Vladimir Putin announces his decision to not run in the 2024 election and instead take a permanent role on the Security Council as co-Chair with the sitting president. This new treaty is ratified by the State Duma. In 2024, Putin announces his support for Alexei Dyumin who is running as the United Party candidate for President. The election results, highly disregarded by most in the West, is a landslide. Dyumin receives 67% of the popular vote and is sworn in as the new President of Russia.

After being sworn in, Dyumin announces a “New Russia” economic plan, one that will grow exports of natural resources to Asia, Africa, and beyond. As well as creating new economic activity zones of development across Russia. This New Russia plan also includes strategic partnerships in Central Asia and with China on the Belt and Road Initiative throughout the region. He also announced a new face of the Russian military, including an increase of funding and a strategic shift of military personnel across the European borders and in Crimea.

Alliances: Aligned towards western powers and Democracies, In process of joining NATO .

History Changes (Subject to review and approval by OP and Co-OP):

In May 1999 16 Years of Military rule in Nigeria ended and the fourth Nigerian Republic was proclaimed backed by a new liberal Constitution. The election was won by the People’s Democratic Party candidate Anyim Jonathan.

The nation was hungry for growth and set about creating a series of economic policies to encourage foreign investment, including a fixed exchange rate for its currency (Nigerian Naira). Free Market policies which limited government regulation, supported economic liberalism, and privatization of the services sector. Foreign capital poured in and growth rates of 10% annually continued for several years. The explosion of growth greatly multiplied corporate debt and inflated the housing market among others, creating a massive trade imbalance fueled by a near limitless supply of Credit. By 2004 Nigeria had signed free trade deals with Multiple nations including the United States.

The Bubble Burst in 2008. Between 2007 and 2010 the economy shrunk 25%, unemployment hit 20% and the GDP fell 14% while inflation climbed and credit went well above local savings and foreign investments. Hyper leveraged companies defaulted and the nation’s largest banks got bailed out, but nothing could seemingly stop the economy from freefall, and the international community was in no condition to assist.

In 2012 elections were held which saw a new political party, the Nigerian National Front (NNF), come to power with a solid majority. The NNF was inspired by economists from the Freiburg school and adopted a “Modern African OrdoLiberalism”.

The IMF recommended the new President, David Ayeni, finance a series of stimulus plans by devaluing its currency, but it staunchly refused. Instead it made an aggressive fiscal adjustment plan, cutting a quarter of the budget over just 3 months, and laying off a third of government employees, reducing the remainder’s salaries by an average of 26%. Thousands of schools closed, half its hospitals, and much was sacrificed in the name of keeping the fixed exchange rate.

Nigeria became seen by foreign investors as the most stable country to invest on the Continent, and the economy began to rebound. By 2014 the country emerged from the crisis with public debt being reduced to 40% of its GDP. Amid this the NNF began creating an incredibly competitive tax environment. A Corporate Income Tax Rate of 20%, a personal Income Tax of 20% (With some exemptions for the lowest incomes), a 20% VAT. The key wasn’t the rate itself as much as the simplicity and neutrality of the tax system as it was treated purely as a method of collecting revenue and not to incentivize or disincentivize behavior. Such simplicity means Tax Returns can be filed in as little as 5 minutes and the corporate tax only applies when taking money out of a company, so reinvesting in the company is completely tax free, no tax on dividends, and losses can be offset with profits from previous years, setting up a company with the Government can take as little as 3 minutes. In addition people around the world can apply for “Digital Residency”... A government-issued digital identity and status that provides access to the Nigeria’s transparent business environment.

The Government also bet big on new technologies, enshrining “Internet as a human right” into is constitution, it funded a massive investment into Quantum Computing, Geothermal energy, as well as 5G infrastructure, this was matched by an investment in education with every school having 1 computer per child by the year 2016 and mandatory classes for children as young as 7 in coding beginning in 2018, for adults free computer training was made available for the poorest 10% of the population. Today their education system is ranked the best in Africa, and climbing to the 40th position globally. Nigeria now has the lowest poverty rate in Africa.

The business climate, technological investment, and education investment made Nigeria perhaps the best environment for tech companies in the world and a wave of Nigerian Startups emerged, it now has more “Tech Unicorns” per capita than any other country in Africa (a privately held technology-based startup company that has a valuation of over $1 billion) and of the world’s 20 largest companies, 15 have operations in the Nigeria. They are the single most technologically advanced country in Africa.

The Government Bureaucracy has ‘efficiency’ as its main watchword. A Strategy of 0 Bureaucracy where civil servants are not allowed by law to exceed more than 12% of the workforce, and management of the civil servants is done in a decentralized manner by a department whose goal is maximum efficiency and is removed from the human aspect of layoffs. A Massive emphasis is placed on continuing education for middle management and the entire idea of the government is to ‘do more for less’. 99% of public services are available online.

In 2025 Unemployment is now only 4% and Public debt is just 8% of GDP. Nigeria maintains a Public Healthcare Option, Free Public Education, Free Public Transit.

Nigeria has made an immense effort to diversify its economy despite the Natural riches of rhw country. The Immense Oil and Natural Gas reserves are frequent targets for foreign investment and a large part of the economy, but the biggest growth of the economy has been in the field of telecommunications and manufacturing advanced computer parts such as computer chips. In the field of energyNigeria put itself at the forefront of Geothermal Technology in 2022 when it completed the West African Rift Geothermal Plant, the largest such plant in the world. It now provides the equivalent of 10 Hoover Dams worth of energy to over 20 million people.

Nigeria has made massive investments in power distribution, infrastructure, and fighting construction.

Since 2011 Nigeria has pursued an aggressive trade agenda which has seen multiple deals concluded with other African nations. In addition Nigeria has expressed interest in joining NATO since 2011 and has begun the application process though the process is slow, meanwhile Nigeria has participated in a number of military exercises with NATO and NATO nations such as France. France specifically has been a frequent ally fighting terrorists in West Africa.

Everything is not rosy in Nigeria. They have the single highest wage gap in the world and a massive influx of immigrants in the past 10 years has contributed to the already tense cultural climate.

simply, no. This RP does allow for some alt history to allow for creativity, but not extreme moves like that. Plus, Im 100% sure the USA player will not approve of giving up California, especially since its not even legally possible at this point and time. Nor is it very likely that Canada would go from liberal constitutional monarchy and democracy to a socialist republic in 25 years. I mean, if you want to carry out the app, you will have to expound upon the reasons how and why very clearly and realistically to make that shift and the OP and Co-Ops will decide if its reasonable enough. Just giving you fair warning.

If you are that interested in playing a socialist state, there are IRL socialist states, former socialist states that are still in the middle of transitioning, and states that are could very well turn socialist which may be easier to RP as.

Currently, your reservation is noted. However, assuming you mean the traditional boundaries of Bessarabia, you are going to have a very difficult time explaining how Romania conquered Moldova and parts of Ukraine to take the Bessarabia territory. Which, since 2000, would be very difficult to explain. Especially since that would probably trigger a Russian response since Russia has had peacekeepers in Transnistria since the 90s. You are more than welcome to continue to write up the application and if its realistic then it can be accepted. However, you will most certainly have to coordinate your app with other European nations and myself (Russia) on the matter.
